Ooc: lol don't worry about it
Ic: Laika's eyes widened at the similarity of Loir's story to hers. "Yeah, my family was killed too..." She looked away, tears stinging her eyes. As old as those memories were, they still hurt. Her spirits lifted as she saw Loir looking for food. "Um... I have some gull... If you, uh, want it..." Her voice was quiet and cracked from under use. When was the last time she had actually talked to anybody besides herself?
She walked towards the leftover gull, grabbed it by the wing and dragged it towards Loir. "It's not much, but any food is welcome in these conditions." She gave the other wolf a halfhearted smile.

Loir was glad to realize she wasn't as alone as she thought. "Sure." She replied when Laika had offered her the gull. Loir hadn't really seen gulls that much lately, but she guessed it was okay. When the fellow rogue had given her the gull, Loir smiled and began sinking her teeth into the gull, plucking off feathers and flesh, making sure to get to the juicy meat. The taste of bird meat! She thought happily. Eating bird again had made her happy, and she had finally ate food once more after a long time of catching food for her family and also eating with her family. Loir had planned to embark on her journey to find a pack in a couple days, so she wanted to be prepared. Eating was the first thing that had been on her mind, and thanks to Laika, she was able to achieve that first mission. Now, all Loir had to do was just to get to maybe know some other rogues around here, but Laika seemed like a good potential friend. "I've heard of many packs." She said once she had finished her gull, licking her chops to get the blood off. "I heard of one called Noctis, not sure whether or not I'm joining it. There's so many other packs out there!"
Loir had no idea what pack to choose and find, but so far she liked Noctis, but wasn't sure if she should join that pack...yet, when there were way more others around.
OOC: Might make Loir leave after the next post or two, or maybe a few posts. I want her to get to know some other rogues. TAGS: @laika, anyone else

Feverfew had been following the scent trail of a curlew, the small ground bird that fed on worms and general shellfish. They nested on the rocks--not that there'd be any nesting right now, in winter. It wasn't an incredibly fresh scent trail, but she had hoped it would lead her to any sign of the bird. She was hungry, and willing to go to some length to find food. Curlews weren't known for being especially good fliers, a bit like quails in the way they fly almost vertically as opposed to horizontally. It made them easier to catch, that was for certain. The snow was helpful in masking her footprints, so any prey was less likely to hear her coming--while, seeing her coming was a whole other story. With a black pelt going somewhere unnoticed in snow was going to prove very difficult, even with one that is covered in white speckles like hers. If she was lucky she could possibly get away with being an unusually shaped rock... but that wasn't going to happen if she was constantly on the move. Feverfew pulled herself back into a tense position, her back arched and ears flat against her head. She was not looking for a fight or anything in the way of violent confrontation. In no way could she be called a good fighter--in fact, it would be accurate to call her a sub-standard fighter. Her tail was held stiffly--more in a wary way than an aggressive way--and her head held high in alert. When the other wolf called out to her, Feverfew visibly relaxed. Well, sort of relaxed. Her hackles lowered and her ears pricked in a curious way, but her back was still slightly arched and her tail still held stiff. "Who are you?" Feverfew called back warily, paying little attention to the question she'd been asked. Hunting with another wolf--one that she didn't know and therefor didn't trust--was too risky. She imagined she'd waste her energy and get her food stolen at the least. Omega Vespen

ROGUE VESPEN
Vespen kept her distance as the other seemed to show hesitation and caution, which in the others defense was completely natural reaction to an approaching stranger, however this did not stop Vespen from pouting out her bottom lip in mock hurt. Vespen tried to look more relaxed than her counterpart, her white tail hanging low but wagging too and fro.
"Who are you?" the other asked, what an interesting question, should Vespen give her name up without the other offering hers in return. Cocking her head, she let a playful smile curl at her lips. "M'names Vespen, but I do hope that in exchange for this information I might also receive yours as well?" she teased, letting a small laugh escape her lips. Plopping her rear end into the snow, she tried to look more relaxed and as if she would do the other no harm, which was true. Vespen had zero ill will against this she-wolf, so she would be nice and cordial.
"I do have to say, though," she would speak after receiving the others name with a polite dip of her head. "It is a pain to hunt in this blasted snow, especially on this terrain. You never know if there will be a rock underfoot that will just take you out down the hill," she said with a slight laugh, remember this happening to her only moments before.
"Oh," Vespen chirped once more, remember she should mention her twin. "I have twin, his name is Victor, he is somewhere nearby, he might have left me to my own though, how rude," she spoke, mock hurt taking her tone as she once again, pouted out her bottom lip.

"Feverfew." She answered the other's question. Her ears fell forward in a more relaxed manner, tail drooping so it was no longer held tightly. If anything, she was comforted by the fact that the other--Vespen--was, well, careless enough to approach an unknown wolf. If Feverfew had been stronger and perhaps better at fighting it would've been more than possible for her to overpower the other. Thankfully, she was neither strong enough or cruel enough to do so--even if she was somewhat rude. "It is difficult." Feverfew said, agreeing. "But hunting is never easy." Privately, she added that it was less easy when she was a mediocre hunter at best. Good enough to survive, just rarely comfortable. A much better scavenger than a predator, to say the least. Vespen didn't appear like she was approaching out of want to harm her. Feverfew was visibly much more relaxed now, planning on a good way to hunt more than anything. "There was some seagulls down by t'beach earlier." Feverfew said. Were, she mentally corrected herself. Grammar wasn't exactly necessary out there, with no-one but those that one wants to eat to talk to. "Might be some other birds. Curlews. And they fly rubbish so they are easier to catch." Rubbish was a bad way of putting it. They could fly, but she had only seen them do it a few times and when they did they just flew upwards and slowly descended down. However, they could fly--only about as well as ducks--but they could. Omega Vespen

ROGUE VESPEN
Vespen nodded her head in agreement, "true, hunting is never easy, but I prefer when my feet don't freeze while I stalk prey, ya know?" She quipped playfully, a little laugh leaving her parted jaws. Flicking a tail she turned her head as the she-wolf indicated more prey down by the beach, although feathers sounded both displeasing and not at all filling. Frowning in disinterest, she looked back towards Feverfew.
Letting out an inaudible sigh, "alright, we can try and catch some seagulls," she stated, rising to her feet. "With three of us, what would you suggest our plan of attach shall be?"
@feverfew, sorry, its not much.

"Freezing to death is indeed something I'd avoid." Feverfew replied and, although it sounded like she'd replied taking all that Vespen had said seriously, she was attempting a dry sarcasm. She just wasn't very good at it. Or maybe so good that one couldn't even tell if it was humour or that she was replying seriously. Feverfew tilted her head, reading the other's body language and picking up on the disappointment. At least, that's what she thought it was. It could've been just general upset, caused by the weather or pretty much any aspect to the life of being a rogue. "Try taking a different angle each?" Feverfew suggested. It wasn't all that great of an idea, but she didn't have the intelligence to think of something better. Seagulls weren't the best or most filling prey in the world, but it was more than enough for something that was hungry. The feathers weren't that much of an obstacle, just a little effort to get them out of the way. Feverfew's sort of self-righteousness was probably why she lacked the ability to keep anyone who wanted to be around her. Feverfew has left to the Calming Coastline.
I'm really sorry Omega Vespen ! I rarely check the website and just saw you'd posted a reply.

ROGUE VESPEN
Vespen thought for a moment about the dame’s suggestion. She was uninterested in catching seagulls altogether but this one seemed to be pushing that idea. Oh well, Vespen would humor the other for the sake of community. Flicking an alabaster tail she stood up and began making her way towards an area she spotted gulls at earlier. “I saw some up this way,” she stated as she began to move away. Whether this one would follow or not was gonna decide what Vespen did next.
If the stranger followed, Vespen began calculating a plan. Although, the hunger had her more eager than focused which would result in a lousy run on her part. But that was to be expected, if Victor was there to remind her that is. Where was her brother now?
As the two made their way to the gull area Vespen crouched down and stalked over the edge of a rocky hill. Peering down she spotted several seeming to picking at the ground. Was there food there? Cocking her head she tried to focus in on what the birds were doing but a hunger pain had her flinching.
“I’ll sneak around the side, once I’m in position I’ll wag my tail high, at that time we charge together,” she ordered before slinking away. Once in position she did as she had promised and charged head first. The birds flapped away but with one quick bound and leap she caught one by the foot and threw it to the ground. Letting go momentarily she adjusted her bite around the neck and snapped the thing. “Food for you, new friend,” Vespen flirted tossing the feathered grease monkey towards her dark furred buddy.
If her friend did not follow suit Vespen would do the same thing except instead of slinking she would just charge head first, and would fail. In both cases, Vespen would notice what the birds were picking over, a red shelled crustacean. Sniffing the dead thing she found it to quite salty. Taking a nibble at the white meat pulled out she found the taste was quite good. She wondered how the birds found this new food.
After eating away at her food and her friend not following suit, Vespen raised up and left to find her brother.

∇ Likotha ∇ "There is no pain, but the one you choose."
Likotha looked towards the female, noticing that tears were threatening to fall from her eyes after he spoke. His emerald gaze rested on her petite figure, looking over her with a small smile placed on his face. She was a very kind and caring wolf, although it seemed that her emotions got the best of her, that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Looking upwards, the smell of rain and snow lingered at the tips of the wind's frosty breath, letting them both know that it was almost time for winter. They would need to make sure that their den was barricaded well enough to withstand the cold, as well as give them enough shelter from the cold paws of winter. As she talked about pulling her own weight, he smiled towards her. "I'm glad I met a hard-working and caring companion," He said, looking towards her with the compliment. "Since it is time that winter will be approaching, we'll need to barricade and collect as much food as possible, just in case we end up being stuck in the den for a few days. Small prey items will be best as they often are better stored during the winter," The male had faced many winters in his previous pack where they were shut in their dens for lengthy amount of times, only allowed to come out in the subzero temperatures to get food if absolutely necessary. His father had invented the clever idea to bury and preserve small pieces of prey, which worked rather well during the winter months. The cold of winter would keep the meat fresh while it was protected from predators, and then given time out of the cold earth, it would be a cold meal sure, but it would be something to put in a wolf's belly, especially if they were hungry.
Looking towards Babette, he waited a second before smiling. "Ready to get started?" He asked her, swishing his tail behind him as his large boy prepared to leave their area, standing tall as he waited for the female's response.

"Alone we are strong, together, we are unstoppable. We must stand tall and proud, for we are all connected."
CloudSpiral stood upon a ledge of smooth rock, looking out over the lands, seeing what there was around him. He caught scent of other wolves, and his fiery eyes sparkled. Perhaps he could make some new friends? Form a pack? All I really want is my sister... he thought to himself, then shook the thought away. It wasn't completely true. While it was what he wanted most, he also longed for companions. His belly rumbled, and he knew he had waited too long to hunt. Lifting his nose, he scented the air.
The smell of prey flooded his head, making his mouth water. One particular scent rose above the rest: jackrabbit.
He padded down the hill, head low and tail raised above the ground, following the scent of the rodent. It grew stronger and stronger until he finally saw it, nibbling on shoots of fresh grass that had sprouted between rocks, completely unaware of the predator stalking it.
It was done in a flash: he flew forward like a streak of shadows, and with a snap of his deadly jaws, the prey's neck was broken. He picked his head up, jackrabbit in his jaws, then suddenly realized he was only a few feet away from two she-wolves. He had not noticed them, and they had yet to notice him. He wanted to greet them, but they seemed busy, and he had been taught not to be rude. He sat down, letting his heartbeat slow before eating.

A young wolf, trying to enjoy all the good in life

Post by Sage on Apr 27, 2019 1:26:17 GMT -8
Sage would slowly lift her head in hope to find an animal she could feast on later. She was travelling for god knows how long. She was trying to hunt since no one taught her when she was just a pup. The young she-would stopped, sinking her sharp claws into the soft soil, taking a deep breath of fresh air, after once again putting her head down and continuing her travel.
Suddenly, just as she was about to lay down to have a rest, she caught a strong whiff, strong smell of a rodent in the distance. With raised her ears, along with her tail, nose almost touching the ground, she began to follow the scent of the rodent. After some time, she found it, a large, grey rat was nibbling on something next to a large rock.
The she-wolf smiled to herself and went into a jumping position, getting ready to pounce on the rat. Her instincts told her to bite the rat's neck. But unfortunately, just as she was about to make the kill, the rat dived under the rock, which so happens to have a rat tunnel underneath. The rat was lucky enough to escape the strong jaws of the wolf.
Why...Was the only word Sage could think of at the moment.
As she was about to move away to find more rodents, she saw another wolf in the distance. she could smell the smell of flesh aswell, she guessed the wolf was eating.
Sage cautiously made her way closer to the wolf. She saw that he was a male wolf. His black fur was moving in the wind, and his hazel eyes were reflecting some of the light from the sun. Just like Sage thought, he was sitting, eating a jackrabbit. She smiled, thinking she could make a new friend. Taking a deep breath and slowly approaching the wolf, not letting a single leaf rustle under her paws, Sage kept rehearsing what she was going to say to the wolf. Finally, she got close enough for him to hear. She let out a sigh and said with confidence, "Hello."

Inigo had been wandering alone for some time now -- and he'd grown used to the silence. Nothing but the sounds of the howlings winds, the nature around him and the padding of his own paws against the ground beneath his feet. He'd almost found serene in it; if it weren't so desperately lonely, too. He craved the warmth of his family again, of any company really. Anything at all to break the monotony of waking up, scavenging out food and walking in the cold quiet, always finding little of interest.
At least he had yet to find any anger, though. He supposed that was a benefit. No others meant, well -- no one was around to attack him, either. But that was little comfort.
His ears perk, though, to the distant sound of a voice. The first he's heard in a while, and he picks up the pace, inquisitive mind racing. He can smell the scents, too -- fresher than anyone who may have just passed through, and the smell of a kill alongside it. Ears perked for any further signs, it takes all his restraint to not run closer to the source of the noise, and he bounds down the grassy, rocky hillside, careful of his step. Inigo pauses on one of the rocks jutting out, squinting down at the two shapes below; wolves, only two, not a pack but... he's never heard of a patrol here? Are they wanderers, like him? He jumps down, moving closer apprehensively -- entirely aware that they may well decide to chase him off. And in that case they would hardly have much argument, and yet- it doesn' feel like they will. He steps over tentatively, trying to make himself appear as non-threatening as he can, curiousity painted across his expression.
He wants to speak but really, his mouth is dry -- and suddenly, he's unsure what to say.
"Uh... hey." Is what he manages-- gruff and low. When was the last time he spoke? He cringes, inwardly, pausing his movements- still giving them space.
(OOC: Ahhh hope you don't mind me jumping in. Sage @cloudspiral)

OOC: Nah, jump in anytime, good to have more people @inigo IC: Sage would turn her head to the sound of another wolf. She examined him: A male wolf, with dark brown fur, also hazel eyes. Perhaps he was also a traveller like her, looking for food? Sage would turn her whole body towards him, standing in-between both male wolves.
"Hello." She'd say trying to sound confident, even though in reality she was terrified. She put on a bright smile, her eyes glistening in the light.
"I'm Sage, who are you?' The young she-wolf would ask the stranger. Her eyes would travel from one rock to another, trying to avoid eye contact, as she felt very awkward. She squinted her eyes as a strong gust of wind blew right in her face, carrying leaves and twigs with it. Sage would let out a small grunt, brushing the leaves from her head. She'd silently look at the new male, waiting for a response.

Inigo is relieved, at least, that they haven't either ran off or tried to attack him. Not yet, anyway. He steps a little closer, that same warm, friendly smile still on his lips, looking from the female to the male and then back. Right -- greeting, that's easy, he can do this. It hasn't been that long, right? He can still remember how to talk to people. He thinks, at least.
"Nice to meet you, Sage," He says, noting that his voice is still gravelly from lack of use; and he coughs, shakes himself in an attempt to clear it. "I'm Inigo. I've only just arrived here-- I've been wandering for quite some time. I have to say it's... good to actually see someone for once." He lets out a light laugh. "I thought I might be the only one around." He looks between them again, curiously. Warily, he steps even closer, huffing out a sigh as a particuarly strong gust of wind once again blows, ruffling his thick pelt. "Are you both wanderers, too? I've seen a few pack territories but, not this far out, I don't think."

Sage lightly smiled after kindly replying to the wolf, " Nice to meet you, Inigo." She slowly walked up to him, then turning her head to the wolf she first met, well, 'noticed' as they haven't talked yet. After putting all her attention back to Inigo she said, " Well, you could say I'm a wanderer too, I have been aimlessly walking around The Rockside for a good few days trying to find some food and maybe some other wolves. " She'd shudder at the thought of wandering for another couple of days, lonely and bored.
"Now that I have someone to talk to, I feel like I could travel for a bit longer now." Sage would let out a cough, trying to get the feeling of thirst out of her throat, as she hasn't had a single drop of water in her mouth for a long time.
"Well on the good side of things--" Sage would pause and let out a small chuckle, "-- Would you like to be friends?" She'd glance at Inigo, hoping he accepts her friendship.
