It had been a whole month since they had settled down here in the valley between the mountains, enjoying life to the best of everyone's ability. Prey wasn't exactly plentiful around here but it was enough to feed them, especially with enough members to be able to take down larger and faster prey like deer or antelope. Had it just been him still, he may well have died already from a protein deficiency. But he was growing very happy here. He had gained some weight already, was able to eat more. His relationships with the others was growing. He really liked Astro, he found the male intriguing and still had yet to have a mediation session with the wolf, but he certainly liked the others as well. No one had really asked him about his religion or asked to sit in with him. Maybe they saw what he did as useless, maybe they were simply uninterested. It didn't matter. He didn't meditate for other people, he did it to find peace within himself. Suddenly, he heard pawsteps heading for him. They stopped and got much lighter, a careful creeping as if hunting. He could easily hear and smell the wolf approaching, but he figured whoever it was wanted to play or was just trying to not disturb him, so he chose not to acknowledge their presence. The wolf stopped just behind him, and while he knew well that they were there, he still jumped from the loudness of the shout she let out. His brow furrowing, he turned his head towards the female, a slight frown on his muzzle. "Ah, no. I'm meditating. It helps me and inner peace and connect myself to nature. Are you interested?"@xechasmenos Nooné @astro Astoria @feverfew Aenemys @kaira @knox

Achak laid on the rocks letting the sun warm his body, he yawned stretching slightly. His stomach growled at him, the small prey he had managed to catch on his own wasn't enough to satisfy his hunger. He sighed softly, sitting up beginning to glance around for any subtle movement. His ears twitched hearing several small feet patter on a section of the rocks near him, he jumped down carefully trotting toward the sound searching calmly. Achak twitched edging closer, suddenly jolted, barley managing to catch the small bird by its wing before it flew off, he quickly ate it stripping the meat from the tiny bones. He sighed once more jumping back on the rocks to lay down.

"Ah, for a moment, I thought you hadn't heard me," the feminine began with a malevolent tone. "So, what, you can't see?" she chuckled. Her vertex lowered with a horizontal, controlled and slowed nod- the she-wolf's signature smirk tied the beast's expression together indefectibly. Her voice was fluid and charming, yet malicious.
She grew closer, in a short enough distance for the smaller lupine to be able to feel her searing respiration upon his face, of which she had to pivot her vertex downward to meet. Her towering physique was menacing, though the timid lupus could not spot the difference visually. A malicious grin was plastered upon the dark-colored visage of the canidae. "Must suck, not being able to see me. Anywho, what's your name, lost little doggie?" Xechasmenos vivaciously spoke and oscillated, though, before he could reply, she barked, "I haven't got all day, dog. Speak up!"

|| Timeskip 1 Month || It is with a yawn and a mighty stretch that Kebechet returns to wakefulness; an action that would not have been possibly if not for the fact that the den was mostly empty at this point. For a small wolf like her, the cramped space wasn’t any issue, but it was only a matter of time before someone got squished. Peering at the light streaming in through the entrance, she huffs out a happy sigh. It was late morning, so thankfully she hadn’t slept in too much. Stepping outside, she shudders as she acclimates to the sudden drop in temperature, first few steps a bit hoppish as she tries to keep from sinking into the snow. To no avail. The white powder was just below her knees, so not too terribly high - but high enough to make her wish for longer legs and a taller stature. Glancing about to see who’s up, her hazel gaze brightens considerably when landing upon Knox. She had bonded quite a bit with the male over the last month, as their generally happy attitudes bounced off each other and amplified. He was a joy to be around, and certainly one of her favorites among the group. Before she can step over and greet him though - by laying on top of him because ohmygod the snow - she is distracted by the scent of someone new. This in and of itself wasn’t cause for alarm. After all, their entire group was built off of rogues coming together; though this newcomer may need to sleep outside lest they be forced to find new accommodations. What did spark her alarm, however, were the tidbits of conversation that she could hear flowing from the she-wolf’s maw. Must suck, not being able to see me... lost little doggie. Speak up! Derisive words paired with body language obviously meant to intimidate has her bristling. Tenzin was barely handicapped by his lack of sight, but to an outsider he could still be considered ‘vulnerable’ - and it would appear that this brutish female intended to capitalize on this. Kebechet was kind at her core and reluctant to spark violence for no reason, but her temper was just as fiery as the rest of her, and that treatment of Tenzin? That was not okay. “ Hey!” She barks, striding over to standing at Tenzin’s shoulder and bristling up at the female. “I don’t know who you are, but if you wanna stick around you’ve gotta drop this little intimidation shtick you’ve got going.” Her eyes seem to spark, little form tense with displeasure. Turning to Tenzin, she looks him over. It looked like he was more confused than upset, which was good. She bumps a friendly shoulder against his own. Hopefully he wouldn’t mind her stepping in. “Conversation is always welcome, lady, but not when you’re right up in his face.”

For the most part, Astoria stayed close to Astro and Knox, getting to know the male’s quite well along their journey to the cave that Astro had spoken of. She had opened herself up a bit to each of them, becoming relaxed enough to actually be herself. It was easier for her personality to come through when she knew that other wolves weren’t a threat, and it seemed that rogue life had affected her a little too much. She started cracking witty jokes here and there, her true nature coming out, and it seemed that no one minded. She had memorized names by the time they had reached the cave, and she knew the names that matched faces. Some of them had departed along the way here, finding that they were being taken elsewhere to take cover from the storm. Not that she minded, the group was rather large, and it would be hard for them all to be able to fit into one area. She enjoyed the many that did stay though, some being quiet, while others were more outspoken. She enjoyed listening to Kebechet. The female had many stories to tell, and they were all quite enthralling and could pull anyone in. When they rested, Astoria still kept close to Astro, becoming more confident and moving closer to him every night until they were almost pressed against each other. In the cold of winter, Astoria needed to keep herself warm, especially considering her small body could only produce so much heat. Finding herself squished up against the male one night, it didn’t seem like he minded her presence. At that very moment, she was pressed up against the male, enjoying the warmth that came from him as she slept soundly. Noises from outside made her stir, little chocolate orbs blinking as the bright white sky peeked into the cave, causing her to blink multiple times before she could fully look out. Bringing herself to her feet, the small she-wolf trotted forward, looking outside to see Kebechet and Tenzin already awake. There was also a new wolf that was standing there. Astoria’s eyes hardened as she heard Kebechet talking to her, anger in her voice as she spoke. Listening in, the little jackal-wolf brought herself to Kebechet’s side, looking over the female. “What’s going on here?” She asked, looking over the she-wolf that had approached, and was foreign to the group. After she was given a statement or two from Kebechet, her brown eyes looked over the new female. “I would think that you would find bullying another wolf with so many wolves about to be dangerous, but maybe that brain of yours isn’t working properly. After all, you just waltzed in and decided you had the right to bully,” Astoria spoke, looking towards the wolf. “I’d change that attitude of yours, or you might end up getting chased off,” She flicked her tail behind her, dismissing from the conversation after that. She knew that if the new wolf were to try anything, they would be met with canines in their rear, especially if Kebechet got ahold of her. Astoria looked around, searching for something she had caught out of the corner of her eye before. Bringing herself to one of the inclines around the valley, she brought herself to the top of it, climbing with ease. Atop the incline she found a cave that was large enough for some smaller wolves to squeeze in, but not quite any of the large companions they had with them. An idea sparked, her mind whizzing a thousand miles per hour as she hopped down the incline, almost racing into the den. She slowly her tiny body, trying to appear less excited to her fellow group members, but the idea that she had in mind brought a butterflies to her stomach, and made her heart race. Looking towards the still sleeping Astro, she brought her muzzle to prod his cheek gently. “Astro! Wake up!” She whispered, excitement laced in her voice. When the male would rouse, he would see the excited she-wolf, tail wagging behind her rapidly as she looked towards him. “I found this really cool thing that I want to show you!” She said, looking towards him. “Follow me!” She said that, and whizzed out of the cave, heading towards the little cave she had found. Sliding inside, as Astro could follow her scent easily, she poked her head out of the cave, looking towards him with a smile on her face. “Come on!”

He definitely didn't know this wolf. Her voice was rough, and her tone was dark, and she didn't seem interested in meditation at all. In fact, it was as if she wanted to stop him from meditating as well. She barked out orders to him, teasing him for not being able to see. He chose not to answer her; she could tell he couldn't see by the way his eyes remained closed even as she stepped closer, her hot breath on his muzzle as she sized him up and invaded his space so that he could feel her presence. She was much larger than he, and wanted him to know it. This was no friendly encounter. But whether she simply meant to bully or cause more trouble he didn't know. She asked his name, and before he could even speak she growled at him to hurry up and answer her. She was calling him names in a language he didn't understand, but he had a feeling they weren't affectionate terms. Visibly uncomfortable, the rusty male began to subtly tense his muscles in case he was going to be attacked. He shouldn't answer her. Not that he could finish a sentence, because apparently a couple of the others had heard what was going on, and Kebechet and Astoria made their way into the conversation. Kebechet padded up along his flank, stopping at his shoulder, unafraid to face whatever wolf it was that was standing over him. One thing that was good about being blind was that Tenzin could not be frightened or intimidated by appearances, so he wasn't bothered by her being so close other than her breath was on his face and he could feel how large she was. Keb was quick to correct the imposing female, bumping her shoulder against his. He wasn't bothered by her stepping in at all. She was calm and collected, not wanting to spark any physical fighting. Astoria's words were sharper, though, a warning to the other rogue that it wasn't in her best interest to try to pick off one of the group just because he looked to be the weakest and they weren't technically a pack. It warmed him to know that even after just a couple months he had friends here who were willing to stick out their necks for him. When she finished, Astoria excused herself to carry on with her day. The two by themselves face to face with this female with unknown intention, Tenzin found more confidence knowing he had Kebechet beside him. He nodded his head towards her in appreciation. "Thank you. I'm alright. I just don't understand why you are so interested in my name and who I am," he said, turning his head back towards the stranger. "If you had intentions to attack me why would my identity matter?" He tilted his head to the side. "I'll tell you my name if you tell me why you're interested in me."@kebechet Astoria @xechasmenos

The male picks himself up with a small grunt, and Aenemys watches him rise. "Sorry for waking you up Nemys, didn't see you there," he says, the nickname making Aenemys' heart twitch a little. She knew her name was on the long side and not the easiest to pronounce, but no one had ever given her a nickname. She liked it though, it felt friendly, like she had known this wolf for years and it was an amiable term he called her by. "I'm fine, just a scratch and a bad dream, nothing that bad. I was planning on heading out, maybe getting some food, wanna come?" he asks. Suddenly, the cold air no longer existed, as a warm feeling spread through her. Happiness, she supposed. Of course, throughout her joining and traveling with the group, there had been minor chitchat but she had failed to form any relationships or bonding of any sort. The small invitation was an effort by someone to, well not necessarily become best buds, but at least to get a little more acquainted. It felt good knowing that she may not be alone for much longer, that she may have at least someone to chat with. Nooné, though Aenemys only knew him a bit more than the others, seemed friendly and down-to-earth, the type of wolf she would prefer to have as company rather than someone whose energy was bouncing off the walls. "Sorry about the dream, and sure, that sounds great." she says, smiling. She brings herself to his side and picks up a walk but lets him lead the way, as it was his idea to go out. As her paws press through powdery snow and crunch into the icier bits below, her curiosity about the male brings her to ask questions. "So, how are you liking it in the group so far?" she says with a slightly playful tone (in regards to the rarity of such a large group forming and then moving out together), moving her gaze to his warmly-colored face as she awaited his answer. ROGUE KNOX
Knox was farther off to the side when Tenzin had come out to meditate. The male had relaxed with the others and so Knox rose to leave for a moment with trust that Tenzin would be fine alone. As he passed the blind friend, "I'll be back," he commented, wondering if Tenzin even realized Knox had been resting outside.
Flicking a tail he was away half an hour while he scouted and marked their small territory. Enough to warn wolves a group was here but not enough to act like they were trying to settle a pack. Or at least that's what Knox thought. He wondered if they could even come close to having a enough of a bond with others to form such a venture.
Returning shortly later he spotted Kebechet and Astoria what appeared to be defending him from a stranger. Approaching, Astoria went inside and he heard Tenzin's great defused question. Nodding his head in agreement he came alongside the stranger, invading her space as a warning to watch what she was going to say.
Knox would move along side Kebechet and gave her small flick of his tail on her own. He would flash her a half smile to show her reassurance if she needed it before turning his eyes to look to the stranger to see how she would be reacting now.

Well, Shale thought to himself as he ambled over the short grass of the valley, things definitely could be worse.
At least this valley was more sheltered than several other areas he had passed through, which helped settle his nerves a little. And at least here there were no packs who had already claimed the territory as their own. Those confrontations never ended well for a loner.
A loner. He was still getting used to that word. It was an accurate description of what he now was, but it was still surprising to hear, even in his own thoughts. He'd been a part of his old pack for as long as he could remember, and he still hadn't quite come to terms with the fact that he was now on his own.
A part of him wanted to run from that fact, as far and as fast as he could. But another side of him was actually enjoying the freedom- a little. This is still terrifying. But maybe not as bad as I thought it would be.
Something- a faint scent, the fading echo of a sound on the wind- caught his attention, and he lifted his head sharply, stopping in his tracks. There was no doubt about it. There were other wolves here. Somewhere. Looks like I'm not as alone as I thought.
OOC: And there you have my attempt at my first roleplay post. I have not the slightest clue what I'm doing, so please let me know if I'm intruding on anything or did anything wrong!

"Why am I constantly on a state of confusion?"

Post by Nooné on Feb 27, 2019 14:48:08 GMT -8
As the female accepted the proposition, the pair left their temporary shelter. Nooné led the way, but kept his head down. Despite being the one to come up with the activity, the Iberian really didn't know how to start the conversation so, for now he decided to keep walking until something actually came up. And eventually something did! "So, how are you liking it in the group so far?" asked the female, with a warm and playful tone. The question actually made the male think for a couple of seconds, he hadn't given it much thought once he finally joined the pseudo-pack. "Well, it's...weird" said Nooné, quickly recoiling and re-thinking his sentence. "Not that you are weird! Or any of the other guys! It's just...". The male trailed off, thinking well his next sentence, building up confidence to actually reply with an honest answer. "...It's just that after been alone for as long as I have, it's just really strange." he finished, making a slim pause to breathe. "Having you guys to watch my back and help me out is just...probably the best thing that's happened since I left my pack.". Smiling, satisfied at the thought of having let that out after a month, the male doubled with another question. "What a-about you, Nemys?" asked Nooné, chuckling awkwardly, as they both ventured into their shared hunt. Aenemys

Achak's ear twitched upon hearing soft voices coming from the nearby cave, the yelling was peeking his interests. He often couldn't stop him self from being curious ever since he was a pup he had to know what was going on around him. He jumped once more from the rock sniffing around, catching a strange scent as if to say 'back off' he huffed softly stepping closer, the scent growing louder. His curiosity was growing as he smelled scents of more wolves, it had been a long time since he'd spoken to other wolves. He battled with himself for a moment before stepping in, he flattened his ears signalling he meant not harm to anyone.
"Hello?" He voices was surprisingly smooth despite his lack of communication for so long, he peeked around seeing the other wolves. Achak wasn't sure what to do next, his brain hadn't exactly thought of what to do upon finding other wolves again. His social skills were rusty to say the least, they were child like in nature so he blurted out the first thing that came to his mind. "I'm Achak." He ears folded back once more, as he sat closer to the entrance but well within view of the others.

"Ah, quite a few wolves here. Why don't you all mind your damn business and allow me to speak with this here wolf?"
"I'm Xechasménos," she spoke skeptically, with an elevated cranial and oculi lowered onto the smaller lupine. Her ashy pupils remained stagnant and unmoving. "What might your name be, sire?" Her voice became more light, becoming a bit more accustomed to the virile. She then altered her decision, glancing back at the others who interrupted her discussion. "Hmph... I suppose we'll have to become better acquainted later.
"Toodles," she scoffed. She was one for confrontation and battles, though this day, she was still dehydrated, exhausted, hungry, and weaker. Her gargantuan frame towered above the the 'intruders'. Her rightward foremitt stepped backward, as she began to amble wayward.
"I hate to waste your time!" she smugly bayed from afar as pulchritudinously trotted at an increasing distance. Her pelage, varying in colors, lengths, and silkiness, slightly stood out from the green grass of the valley. Her fluffy, elongated banner flowed carefully with the light breeze. In the middle of her brisk trot, she halted suddenly, mane bouncing lightly. Her aura shifted from smug to docile within seconds. Her physique hastily whipped roundabout. The lupine courageously approached once more, glancing at Tenzin, her favorite of the group, since he was reserved and seemingly quite intelligent. Once rather close, she spoke.
"Are you all in some sort of pack?" she inquired. Her ivories hidden behind her fastened, horrific jaws. "I've been months, searching for a place to stay. Apologies for my previous introduction. I lash out quite easily," she apologized, though her orbs displayed naught emotion or feeling. The remainder of her form was apologetic and loving.
"I understand if you refuse," she pressed her gargantuan mitt to her chest. "I was not the most inviting."

"Well, it's... weird. Not that you are weird! Or any of the other guys! It's just..." he trails off a bit, seeming to think. Did Aenemys make him nervous? She liked the thought of that. Not that she was trying to make him feel nervous, but it felt good (okay, maybe in a bad sort of way) to know that she had the kind of presence or appearance to make one a little stumble-y. Or perhaps, that was just his personality. Aenemys didn't really know what others thought of her, she had stayed with a group of rogues until she was about one and a half, but when she was that young amongst older wolves she didn't pay much attention to her standing among others. Here, it was something she noticed more, as everyone seemed to have small cliques and only socialize within them. "It's just that after been alone for as long as I have, it's just really strange... Having you guys to watch my back and help me out is just... probably the best thing that's happened here since I left my pack." Aenemys raised her brows a bit, not expecting such a sentimental answer, not to say that it was at all a turn-off.
"What a-about you, Nemys?" he asks slightly awkwardly, though Aenemys pays no attention to this.
"Well..." she says, cocking her head and looking to the sky as if it would give her an answer. "It's a bit hectic for me, but I think I could use the social life. It's at times crazy all the wolves running around in an unorganized system with no sort of hierarchy, but it's also also refreshing from previous experiences. And, what you said about being safer kind of, that's a good feeling too. It's nice to know I probably won't get lonely around here," she says, turning her head back to look at him as she finishes.
Though the winter drones on, chilling the land with an icy embrace, breathing snow and wind upon the grounds and freezing icicles on trees and blades of grass, the valley seems persistent in staying green. Thankfully, too, because the scent of small prey can be detected hidden amongst the lands, much to the pleasure of the snowy white female, though her hunger seemed to be forgotten in the already entrancing conversation she had just barely struck up with her newfound acquaintance. Well, dare she say, pal? Companion? Friend? Well, let's not put a label on it yet.

Achak tensed slightly deciding better to not get involved with these wolves. He did his best, slowly slipping out of the cave shaking his head. Idiot, you should've left them alone. He thought to himself. He began trotting forward. I mean what was I thinking, I could just be a part of a pack again? His mind was racing at his own miscalculation, he began trotting faster jumping over small logs and rocks in his way. I'm not fit to be around anyone anymore. He sighed suddenly slowing down to a stop. He glanced up not sure how far he'd traveled, blinking upon seeing Shale. The small wolf didn't seem to startle Achak, but more confuse him, he opened his mouth to speak but stopped remember that last time it hadn't gone so well, instead he tilted his head slightly, opting to just sit and listen rather than speak.

Shale drew in a deep breath, trying to steady his racing heart. They're just other wolves. Nothing to worry about. You'll be fine, he told himself, trying to fool his mind into believing the words. He kept walking, more alert now, flicking his gaze over every rock and tree in order to discern whether any dangers were hidden behind them, looking first to one side and then to the other. He nearly ran straight into the larger tan wolf that seemed to materialize directly in front of him, apparently as surprised to see Shale as Shale was to see him. The other wolf tilted his head to one side, and Shale immediately panicked. What do I do, what do I do, what do I do... He opted for the first thing that came to his mind. He ducked his head, pinning his ears back and curling his tail underneath his body so that the other wolf knew he wasn't a threat, and, with all the delicacy and tact of a three-day-old pup, blurted out, "Who are you?"
