No Man's Land between the Ferus Pack Territory and the Muddy Pines. This terrain is rocky, hot, and barren, with no main source of water or prey. The most a wolf could possibly find is a few bird species, some snakes, and lizards, but be careful with those snakes! Most are poisonous species like rattle snakes! If a wolf is lucky, they may possibly find a hare or a scrawny deer, but trying to catch one in this heat without a water source for miles may be a dangerous idea.
H U N T I N G G U I D E
Seldom seen Hard to catch S M A L L G A M E
Rabbits - Rats & Mice - Snakes & Lizards (venemous/nonvenomous) When it comes to small game, the player can choose whether or not their wolf makes the kill. Please keep in mind that a wolf does not make a successful kill every time, usually a best two out of three. Also, please note the territory you are hunting in and the prey listed. This is a very hot, rocky, coverless (no trees, no full cover) territory so prey will be pretty difficult to sneak up on. Please keep it realistic. And be careful not to overheat yourself! There are only a few small puddles that you might not even find due to their small size! Even then it may not be wise to drink from such stagnate waters.

Large game hunts cannot be finished in less than two posts if between a pair (or more) of wolves. If it is a solitary wolf, then please add adequate length/detail. Also remember that not all hunts are successful, so please keep it realistic.

"And oft, my jealousy shapes shapes faults that are not." William Shakespeare Silas moved on the uneven ground with a lopped gate, eyes lowered as he searched out a habitable place. More than likely Melek and her group would’ve found it by now, that was just how Silas’ luck worked. Not at all. Grumbling to himself, ignoring the looks the others would give him, he moved forward into the barren landscape.
There was nothing to find attractive here. The land was dust and rocks, hard surface, no water, no food. This place was a dumb, literally. His own fur prickled and raised from his hostility towards the environment. The only thing that kept him going forward were faint scents of other wolves, that were steadily growing stronger. Perhaps new recruits? Or something to have fun with?
Turning his head towards Abbadon, his eyes seeming to read both boredom and anger, he spoke up. “What do you think? Should we mess with the rogues or start searching in another direction?”

Scenery Tripod
Without an answer from the she-wolf, the tripod quietly huffed and finally went back to nibbling her forepaws with the utmost care, making sure to strip them of dirt and dust to bring out their creamy hue. Carefully, she flicked her myrtle gaze toward the dominant female once again, who seemed to have lost herself in deep thoughts. Thin light crested her fur as she rested vacantly, causing Scenery to uncomfortably turn away to search for the kinder she-wolf and jolly male she had interacted with not long before. But as only natural sounds of insects twitching caught her ears. It seemed even they were out of it, or far enough away that she couldn't hear whatever hushed words they exchanged. Damnit.
Flicking her ebony tipped pennant to and fro, the tripod bitch closed her heavy eyes, a quaking release of air rushing from her lungs and rustling the brush leaves a few inches from her patchwork muzzle. Carefully lowering her darkly haloed crown to her paws, the socially awkward female shifted her stump closer until it was nearly beneath her. "So..." The silence was getting to her. It was... weird, and she didn't want to seem rude by just falling asleep in front of her hosts. Carefully plotting her words through softly mouthed lipping, Scenery gulped down the metaphorical lumps in her throat and continued with her words. "How long have you been here? It seems like you've managed to settle into the territory very well." Her voice cracked, making her shudder with embarrassment but she forced herself to keep cool and act like she actually knew what she was doing. They were far more likely to let a composed, useful-seeming wolf stay with their group instead of one who couldn't even speak correctly.

Cassiopeia If pride comes before the fall, i'll take the world down with me Chartreuse yellow orbs narrow in distaste as they take in their surroundings, the wolf they belonged to tempted to turn back the way she came right then. For one thing, there was nothing here. Oh, if she were looking for rocks and dust, this would be a fantastic territory, but the cynical salutary needed herbs, and she doubted this barren excuse for a territory could support even aloe vera. Sure, she could always travel east to the woodlands to get what she needed, but lord knows the second she leaves howling distance there will be nine broken legs and three heart attacks in a span of minutes. Not even bothering to hide her sniff of disdain, Cassiopeia hopes that their stay here would be short, lest she abruptly have urgent business anywhere else.
She does not have to lift her chin to scent the air, as it was almost always lifted in a prideful manner in the first place. Inhaling deeply, she stamps down the urge to sneeze (damn dust) and categorizes the jumble of scents: Silas and Abbadon, in the distance somewhere, water (in the far distance, fuck), rogues, and of course her companions. No telltale signs of prey or water near enough to signify a decent place to rest for a while. The lupess absently wonders at the rogues, and whether or not they'd prove to be an issue, but discards the idea easily enough. There were seven of them, and if there was trouble someone would loose a howl. Turning to glance at Aphrodite and Cael, she lets her displeasure show on her face. "Tell me Melek isn't actually thinking of staying here." Her voice is dryer than the desert around them.

Scenery "You And I Will Never Last."
Again, Scenery's questions went unanswered. Perturbed and yet relieved by the silence of the other wolves, the tripod huffed and dropped her head back down to her newly cleaned paws without another word, assuming it would only receive the same treatment as the ones before it. With nothing else to do, and no schedule to follow, Scen let her heavy lids drop over the glistening jade gems encased in her skull. The long trek here had been tiring, to say the least, and she was lacking on energy. Since the others around here were rather stubborn when it came to speech, they probably wouldn't pay a quick nap any mind.
Shifting and settling into the makeshift nest she had gathered within a couple of seconds for herself, Scen exhaled a sigh, ignoring the soft rustling of scrubby underbrush and specks of dust being blown against her side. Even in winter, this ugly, bare place sported more heat than she liked. As a Yukon wolf, she much preferred the feeling of frost gluing to her coat, or tromping through many feet of snow hourly. The memories of curling into a ball in a dent in the frigid ice, the only warmth coming from her own small body as she protected herself against the pelting snow and hale entered her head, making her smile absently as she recalled the events. God she missed her old world, as well as the innocence and protection that came with being a pup. It seemed like forever ago since she had been traipsing through the cold like some sort of winter soldier, determined and driven to survive even in the harshest of conditions. What had happened to that focus and drive?

"And oft, my jealousy shapes shapes faults that are not."
William Shakespeare Abaddon was in one of those moods where Silas' questions went unanswered as he stalked next to him. Silas was only mildly annoyed with the beast's wondering mind, however, with the years they've been together proved to add patience to Silas' growing list of traits. White tail flicking behind him as he trotted along, others trudging slowly behind them. Complaints from Cael about water had proved to ride on Silas' patience. While on one hand, Silas had become accustomed to Abaddon's ways, he had yet to get used to the pups nagging and whining.
Rolling honey eyes he flicked an ear towards another complaint. Voice silken and prideful had him sighing yet again. Only Cassiopeia can manage making a complaint sound like a command. Turning his head to stare at her poised body, he couldn't help but laugh at her question, or was it more of a statement. "I highly doubt Melek would want to settle in something that wasn't even worth to crap on," his own baritone voice booming across the landscape, not even offering a decent echo.
White stockings had become dusty and stained with mixtures of brown and red. He was tempted to stop and clean himself off, to better appease his inner narcissist, however, he knew that he would continue to do that every few steps. Not wanting to make this trip last any longer than he wanted it to be, he begrudgingly turned his head away from his own messy fur. Eyes of yellow looked around until far into the distance he could finally spot the beginnings of green. "There," he growled, his own steps beginning to carry him forward at a faster pace. Escape of this barren, nasty, lack-luster wasteland was eminent for the small group.

“I’m an aim-well, shoot-sharp, sharp-tongued, sharp-thinking, fast-speaking, foot-loose, loose-tongued, let-loose, woman-on-the-loose loose woman. Beware, honey.”
Sandra Cisneros Red lazily awoke after a rough few days. Between her brother arriving, an unknown she-wolf joining, the disappearance of Riel, and still the grieving loss of Gideon, she was slightly off kilter; but Red was gaining her balance and pace again. Today, she had plans for Ridley, Scenery, and herself. They were going to scout the edges of the desert in hopes of finding a suitable home for winter. Already the crisp air was settling in at night, and several times Red had to squeeze close to Athena to even get warm. The desert was not going to be habitable for much longer.
Snaking out from the den she shared with Athena, she gave herself a long stretch and a decent shake of her pelt before moving to Ridley's hole. "Bro, time to rise," she barked into his den before moving to where Scenery slept and did the same. On top of the general goal of the day, Red also had plans to get to know each wolf better.
Ridley, her dear brother, had been gone for two years before they reconnected again. The years apart taught each wolf the skill of independence and they grew differently in skill. The times where they could hunt in sync were now gone, but, Red planned to rekindle the harmony again. Even if the new harmony they created would be different than their pup-hood, she needed to regain that connection again. She believed that once they mingled more and trained together, that their cooperation and synchronization would bloom.
Her own plans for Scenery were far more simple. Red simply needed to get to know the tripod and test her abilities and endurance. While Red would not turn Scenery away if she proved incapable of survival on her own, she needed to know now how much extra work the group would need to do to keep Scenery healthy. Evergreen eyes found the tripod interesting, she knew the she-wolf was capable of basics and seemed to be fine walking. Injury looked decently healed and no signs of infection or sickness. All that was needed now was to see if the darker she-wolf could hunt or run decently well.
Once the two were up, Red gave each a smile, "Morning, hope we're ready for a bit of a travel, we probably wont be back for a day or two," she stated with a wag of her tail. "We need to start searching for our winter home, the chill is setting in at night, and the desert will prove too harsh for survival, as most prey here has already gone to sleep or has moved elsewhere. We will stick together and hunt along the way whenever we can and if we find a spot that suits us we will send one of us to get Athena while the other two work on making a collective den and scenting a small segment of territory."
Finished laying out the plan, Red began to move forward, pace a fast walk but easy enough to keep up and preserve energy. She was only partially worried for leaving Athena behind, but the she-wolf seemed to need more time gathering herself. Already having agreed the night before of the plans, she hoped her friend would wake and take the solitude as a time for open grieving.
Coming back to the present, she turned a auburn and russet head towards the other she-wolf. "We haven't had much time to talk, but, what skills do you have?" her question remained friendly and voice free of judgement. She would not look at the she-wolf in any other way than as another wolf, so long as Scenery proved to be respectful of everyone in the group. Afterall, if Red could manage to deal with Lash for so long, she would be able to deal with a kind tripod.@scenery , @ridley , @athena

Hot breaths of air heaved out his flaring nostrils, a ruckus of a snore drawn out with each breath caused by the rising and falling of his chest. Evidently not a soundless sleeper the male lay curled in his tight fit den, small movements of his ligaments every so often that related to his dream, a tug to his lips presenting a dazzling sleepy smile. "Bro, time to rise,"
Still half asleep, and still flashing a smile he murmured in a deep hush. “Oh come on now… lets slee-…” He mumbled on some more. “Its only sunrise Amb-“ His body jolted, heading shooting up so the top of his skull smacked painfully into the ceiling of his den. “Fuck.” His neck retracted with a curse passing his lips, eyes narrowed and irritated from the wakeup call that pulled him out of his whimsical dream, unwillingly then dragging himself out the den to his sister’s call. "Morning, hope we're ready for a bit of a travel, we probably wont be back for a day or two," "We need to start searching for our winter home, the chill is setting in at night, and the desert will prove too harsh for survival, as most prey here has already gone to sleep or has moved elsewhere. We will stick together and hunt along the way whenever we can and if we find a spot that suits us we will send one of us to get Athena while the other two work on making a collective den and scenting a small segment of territory."
The 3 year old would give a good shake of his pelt to rid of foreign matter, a sudden right to left jerk of the noggin rebooting his brain and easing it out of its dreamy state. Ridley was more than delighted to be elsewhere then here, and was eager to get on the move and stretch his muscles. Ridley’s muscular form easing into a steady trot, larger strides keeping him up to par with his sister and the three legged. Scenery hadn’t been at all a problem as he thought she would be upon her arrival, and so far to Ridley she had done well in fitting her way into the group, now all that was left was to figure out where she best fit in terms of duties. His sister right on par as she questioned the tripod. After Scenery would respond Ridley would call for his sisters attention. “Red. What are we looking for in terms of homely? Any specifics?” He’d ask casually General Red @scenery @athena

Scenery "You And I Will Never Last."
A curt bark caused irritated flicks of the bitch's burgundy ears, perturbed that she was to be awoken at all. Though restless earlier that night, once Scen had found sleep it had been utterly blissful, the sweet caress of rest a welcome feeling to her fatigue mind and body. Opening a singular myrtle eye, the tripod caught sight of Red's dusty paws padding lightly from the edge of her "den", moving toward the center of their living area to wait for her, and likely Athena and Ridley, to rise. A heavy sigh blew a mound of dirt away from the path of Scenery's mouth as she slowly raised her head, gazing out only to spy a second wolf coming to Red's call. Apparently there was no way out of this one.
Rising to her three remaining paws, the tripod trudged from her den, propelling herself with her hind limb as she hurried to join the other two. It seemed that Athena had not yet arrived, but Scen decided not to dwell on it. She was likely doing her own thing, or actually getting some rest. Coming to an awkward pause by the two, Scenery kept on her paws, preferring to not go through the troubles of scrambling to move up and down as quickly as they did. Bobbing her head in slight greetings, she perked her ears to listen to Red's words, eyeing the composed bitch with interest as she began. "Morning, hope we're ready for a bit of a travel, we probably wont be back for a day or two," The idea struck her as odd, but she kept her lips sealed, simply nodding her head in a silent response. It didn't really matter to her where she ended up anymore, so long as there was food and fresh water. Travel had become somewhat easier over the years after her "loss", and speed would come with practice.
Finishing her fast-paced announcement, Red quickly began to move off at slow jog, making sure to keep at a suitable pace. Without using time to think about her speech quite yet, the tripod turned and bustled after her, loping in her quirky way to comfortably stay with the she-wolf. She was uncertain about leaving a wolf behind, especially in the barren wasteland that they were currently in. It seemed unnecessary to her, but she also had no idea of the conflicts that had occurred before her arrival so her opinion was a little uneducated.
As Scen hurried next to Red, she found herself tuning in to the calm words hefted from a slightly panting maw. "We haven't had much time to talk, but, what skills do you have?" Scenery was a little startled to have finally received a question of that sort, though her answer was still unprepared. Angling her skull back toward the path ahead, she uncertainly responded. "Well, I have some experience with herbs, though I still consider myself a bit of an amateur." Scen knew she was humbling herself some, but didn't bring it up. "And--although I'm not particularly skilled in it--I can hunt well enough,"

“I’m an aim-well, shoot-sharp, sharp-tongued, sharp-thinking, fast-speaking, foot-loose, loose-tongued, let-loose, woman-on-the-loose, loose woman. Beware, honey.” Sandra Cisneros "Well, I have some experience with herbs, though I still consider myself a bit of an amateur." Red's head swivelled to observe the ebony and grey she-wolf, eyes anaylized her body as she spoke. Red wondered if Scenery was being completely truthful or just being humble "And--although I'm not particularly skilled in it--I can hunt well enough."
Nodding, Red had all she needed to know to be able to work with Scenery. "Well, hunting is something that comes with practice, and we can help you get better if you want," Red offered, evergreen orbs moving to Ridley to see his reaction. Seeing if he approved or not, either way he would help her. Eyes returning to the tripod, "Also let us know if you need a place with better herb selection."
With that she returned her eyes to the front, ears flicking in her brother's direction as he spoke. "Somewhere with trees," she said, a hearty laugh leaving her maw in her own little joke. For a long while she had only seen desert, now she need to feel the shade of trees and the smell of bark. She missed the secluded feeling she would get moving between trunks and jumping over fallen logs. Laying in brush and the sound of rushing rivers warmed her heart at the thoughts.
"Lets find somewhere not too crowded either and has decent food supply, as well as what Scen needs for her herbs," she said, giving a more serious answer to her joking one. Tail swishing, she spotted trees in the distance. The sighting of green filled her heart and a happy wag of her tail had her picking up pace in excitement. "I see something promising," she sang sung, her tail picking up slight speed. Exit to Muddy Pines @scenery , @ridley

-and we can help you get better if you want,”
Oh… what? Ridley had to blink a couple of times before acknowledging his sister’s gaze, nodding clumsily in response at the suggestion he had no clue what had been about. The male had yet to recompose himself, slowing just a tad to fall behind the group, giving another good shake of his head to wake himself up, and stop his mind falling into a day dream.
The deep wounds were still far from sealing themselves shut, flesh cut by the knife of brokenness still raw and sore, causing an ache to his heart at every reminder. His sister clearly having better days wasn’t making him feel any less worse. Course he was happy for her, but he had yet to deal with his own issues, that were going to take a while to get over.
Having recollected himself the male sauntered back over in closer distance, trying to puzzle piece together what he had missed, while Red rambled on what she was looking for. Oh right. Scenery worked with herbs, a job the large male had very little skill in. Good they at least had a healer.
Onward the trio went, ears set themselves high on his skull as he trailed after his sis, though as okay as he wanted to appear to be, his paws dragged against the dusty earth, heavy steps that carried the large brute onward.

Cassiopeia If pride comes before the fall, i'll take the world down with me Blackened lips curl up into a sneer as laughter reaches her ears, though her heart wasn't quite in it. Narrow cranium swinging towards Silas, she regards him coolly. "Silas," She utters by way of greeting; it seems he and Abaddon had decided to merge their two groups. "You're looking less green than usual." A sly reference to his often blatant envy slips from a silken tongue, accompanied by a small quirk of her lips. Shaking her pelt out with much dramatic flair, she stalks forward with tail held high. "I pray you're right."WIP!

Scenery The Tripod
Stumbling slightly on the rocky terrain, Scenery hurried to tune into Red's following comments, righting herself and struggling to regain balance as the mottled bitch spoke. "Well, hunting is something that comes with practice, and we can help you get better if you want," Flicking her crown in the direction of Red, the tripod gave a concise bow of her skull, indicating that she would indeed appreciate that although her insides crawled at the suggestions. The thought of receiving help was mind boggling in Scen's case; she was persistent in doing things on her own and in her own way. "Also let us know if you need a place with better herb selection." The chocolate and off-white bitch nodded again, feeling awkward beingat the center of attention but not bothering to speak. She didn't dare drag this conversation on longer than necessary.
The group was hardly silent yet Scen practically jumped out of her skin when Ridley finally contributed his curiosity. “Red. What are we looking for in terms of homely? Any specifics?” Swallowing down a lump, the tripod also glanced toward Red, upright ears directed at her in mild interest. She would be quite happy with anywhere really; when it came to habitats she was hardly picky. “Somewhere with trees,” Scenery swished her tail behind her in a thoughtful and confused fashion as Red broke out in delighted giggles, glancing toward Ridley as Red did in hopes of receiving some sort of clarification on the burgundy female's wistful tone and words.
"Lets find somewhere not too crowded either and has decent food supply, as well as what Scen needs for her herbs," Scenery's face flushed hot, myrtle eyes scampering to the ground at the mention of pandering to her needs. "Really anywhere should be fine," She shyly mumbled, downcast eyes remaining so as she tried to calm the flutter in her stomach. She hated the idea of others spending time or energy on her like that, it certainly wasn't necessary in her mind.
Hurrying after Red, the tripod found herself gazing at a faint spot of green over the horizon. "I see something promising," Red's voice chided joyfully as she picked up speed, charging head first toward the new territory with gusto. With a nervous inhale, Scen loped after them, paws moving much faster with her mind away from her speed. ~Exit To Muddy Pines~

Time Skip 2 Months Silas laid on the cold, hard ground, eyes seething with boredom. Not only were they left here indefinitely but Silas doubted he'd ever see the others again. Anger boiled in his heart as he ground his teeth together. Snarling he stood abruptly, turning to Cass and then to Abbadon. “Fuck this shit,” he barked turning in circles in frustration. “Why are we left here?! Why are we the ones to stay here?!” Swiveling to face them both, “You know what I say? I say fuck this shit and let's just go find others who will appreciate us! Who would not abandon us!” Bright yellow eyes shone brightly as he awaited the affirmation from the other two. Either way, he would be leaving, with or without them. Ooc: @cassiopeia @vivaldi @abbadon @seven I'm sorry it's kind of shit. Hopefully he'll get better.

An ebony female wandered into the new area. She had followed an unknown path all the way back from the Eastern Rocklands, and fate had led her to the valley's desert. Shifting her paws, Mira felt the sand beneath her. The sweltering heat radiated from the rough sand was unbearable. Sweating profusely under her coat of thick fur, Mira ventured deeper into the dry lands, her paws having the hardest of times to get use to the new terrain. It was a huge contrast from the cooling rocks back from where she had came from. Bearing the merciless punishments from the sun, Mira trotted on, with her fiery eyes exploring the rather uncomfortable environment. Bushes dotted the sandy land randomly, each quite a distance from the other. Tiny patches of tall grass sprung out occasionally around the area.
Mira couldn't care less about the plants that served no purposes to her. She was only interested in the nearest tree she had spotted from quite a distance. Tongue lolling out from her mouth, she dragged herself to the tree for shade. Under the shadows of the emerald leaves, Mira settled down onto the cooler orangish particles, patches of grass tickling her. A bored expression had long taken over the spark in her eyes. This place is nothing but sand. Sand. Sand. And more sand. She had only been here for awhile, but a sudden thirst for a drink had overcame her. Perhaps, it had something to do with the scorching heat. Eyes scanning the area, she searched for any source of water, a drinking pool, a lake, a pond, the ocean. Yet, her efforts were proved futile. If she had still been full of energy, she would have embark on another journey in search of water. Maybe she would have search the lonely desert for another companion to talk to. However, her paws were burning from travelling across the oven. Her limbs were all aching from the tedious walk. So, with an exhaustive sigh, she lay down on her back, and tested the sand. "Not too bad, honestly."With that, her tired eyelids slowly slid shut, and she drifted into a dreamland.
