Barons large black ears stayed pointed upright as he listened to the various wolves weigh in on his inquiry to join the Lubrusca pack. Parker seemed approving of his physique, mentioning something about another pack called 'Ferus' one that Baron himself was not familiar with but one he assumed he would become familiar with were he accepted. Shortly after, an Iberian Female wolf made her presence known, announcing herself as Sitka, then another female announced herself as Lexavein, her pelt white and somewhat patchy, he noticed how her form would shutter sometimes, concern raising within him for her. When Devika began speaking he paid attention to what she had to say, glad to hear that she wanted to give him the opportunity to stay as well. Hydran then weighed in and agreed he was accepted into the pack, his tail giving a very soft wag at the opportunity. he bowed his head gently and respectfully as he was told he would hold the title of omega until he proved himself to fit into another rank, which he knew he would. Baron then lifted his broad head to look over at the other females, glad to hear they too had been accepted, it was exciting to him, the start of something new.

"What are you looking for in a pack?" What peculiar question. The wolf who had asked this had promptly done so after greeting Lexavein and Sitka. Her eyes were of an admirable green, and her features, though oddly large, seemed elegant and of royal quality. This was not what Lexavein was thinking about currently, but the thoughts did cross her mind as she momentarily smiled at Miss Devika. The bedraggled loner had no general standards or expectations of these wolves. She hadn't even thought to ask about the quality of their home. Such matters seemed unimportant. If she was accepted in, which seemed likely now, she would adapt to their lifestyle and their daily environment. Why would she complain? What right did she have to come here, be accepted in, and groan about their life being unsatisfactory for HER needs? All this aside, Lexavein felt compelled to speak a response to the lovely Miss Devika. The chance for a stimulating conversation was an opportunity the loner couldn't pass up. So when the wolf, unknown to her as Lysic, finished announcing his opinion on the matter of their acceptance, Lex wasted no time in finally providing Miss Devika with her own answer. Lexavein spoke softly and gleefully, her energy revitalized by a feeling of excitement and hope. "I'm looking for anything, Miss Devika! A pack ta me is no different than another. If there's anything wrong with my choice, then it would be me who would have ta adapt to the challenge... " She paused, noticing that her frame was shaking more violently from before, due to her excitement and newfound zeal. A look of mild embarrassment spread across the little wolf's face and she lowered her head again. Almost as if in apology. "-a-anyway, you all seem like a nice bunch. I don't have any expectations, so..." Her tail wagged weakly as her voice trailed off into a subtle murmur.

Lysic took to the task instinctively, much in the ways a true alpha would. He approached the lone male confidently, offering a simple, traditional question to start off them off. Why did he seek Lubrusca specifically? Dante chuckled, recalling the similar questions that he and Elenor had been asked while they waited anxiously at Lubrusca’s borders. How long ago that must’ve been, he breathed, his mind attempting to properly trace their timeframe. Three months, since he’d seen his love last — it seemed like a lifetime ago. Baron answered much in the way they had at the time, seeking the friendship, purpose, and companionship that could only be obtained by being a part of something bigger. Instinctively, the three siblings locked eyes in a silent exchange of emotion and thought. They were always linked, but Dante knew the three well enough to what they were thinking. They liked him, enticed by the strength, boldness, and mystery that practically stitched itself to rouges’ backs. Dante certainly didn’t disapprove. Baron’s restlessness, if anything, was vital to strengthening Lubrusca’s needs. It could be shaped, molded into exactly what they needed, and such an opportunity was a tad too good to simply pass up now. Suddenly, another she-wolf emerged onto the scene, gentle-faced and kind-eyed. What absolutely wonderful luck — he would’ve greeted her with all the novelties and charm he’d given Baron, but for the moment, he was transfixed. She bore a beautiful, lovely brindled face, her fur pattered in the intriguingly captivating way dear Ellie’s had been, and in that moment he recalled everything he’d loved about her and how much he missed having a mate of his own. It wasn’t the fur that brought him back though. It was the eyes, those kind, serene eyes that seemed perfectly sweet, wonderfully assuring, and perfectly confident that in the end, everything would turn out alright. Her name was Sitka. She claimed to be a hunter and a fighter, but listed her best skill as caring for pups. Now that was worth considering. Of course, they had Macha to linger in the Commons and watch the now six pups, but Macha was still entirely deaf. As much as he hated to admit it, hearing the scrabbling of small paws was an essential part of the job. Perhaps, though there was the possibility Mochi would refuse, Sitka could be guardian if it suited her, with Macha assisting. Another she-wolf came forth, the third to the party, a pale-faced lass named Lexavein. All were about the same age, and though he felt a bit ashamed to admit it, he felt thoroughly relieved every wolf present was a full-grown adult. Of course, he loved all the pups to pieces, but no prosperous pack could ever hope to function with just adolescents. The introduction of a few more full-grown, mature adults would provide the pack the structure it desperately needed, and the adolescents well-meaning role models to aspire after. Lysic made a final decision to accept all three wolves, glancing towards him for a final dip of approval. He nodded. All three were to be omegas, at least for the moment, but he was certain they’d grow out of their given ranks with time. A soft voice slipped into his ear as he pondered, youthful and uncertain. “Is it always this crowded here?” Hydran asked with concern. Dante huffed in amusement. “Not quite, but don’t worry. You should’ve seen when I came. There had to have been at least a dozen wolves there. This is a good thing for us. We need the numbers and the extra strength, and I feel they will provide it.”
After Lysic had concluded his speech, Dante stepped forwards. “Welcome to Lubrusca Baron, Sitka, and Lexavein. Lubrusca’s future leaders are confident you will excel here, and I am as well. All we expect of you is your loyalty, companionship, and hard work. We will provide you the same. I will be leading you back to our Common Grounds. Our Alpha and Alphess will be waiting for you there. They may be a bit intimidating, but they are kind, generous, and loving, and will accept you with all of the openness they granted me. Anyone and everyone can succeed here, and with enough work, you all can as well. We’ve two mischievous litters wandering about Lubrusca at the moment, so just give them a smile and a wink and they’ll be quite happy to welcome you too.” He gave a low, gentle laugh, “Now, just follow me. Let’s head on home.”Exit to: Forest River Tagged: Delta Baron Sitka @lexavein Beta Lysic Sentinel Hydran Hunter Devika Hunting Superior Parker

Turning his head, Baron looked from Sitka to Lexavien, wondering what rank these two would fall into as the three newest members of Lubrusca grew out of their Omega titles, one of his ears pinned some while the other stayed straight up, his head giving a soft tilt at the thought, he was unsure, but not of what titles he saw himself filling shortly. Both of his ears stood back up as the General Dante began speaking again in his usual charming and well mannered tone, he could see himself developing a kind of respect and admiration for the male, there was wisdom to be learned from him, he had no doubt about that, though he was sure to keep in mind that he would treat everyone with caution until he figured out where he fit best, being overly trusting like some brash pup was a trait that would get you killed as a rogue and Baron had learned that from a very young age. When Dante spoke about the Alphas and the rambunctious pups the pack had running around, Baron felt a bit uncertain; normal for him when experiencing something entirely brand new to him, though he gave no indication of the feeling, he was always cool and collected on the surface, stone faced in the toughest of situations. He watched as the General made his exit and request they follow him, his amber orbs giving quick glances to the other wolves around him, his eyes lingering a little bit longer on Devika, something about her interested him, but he chalked it up to mere curiosity and did not plan to act upon it. One black paw at a time Baron was the first to follow after Dante. -Exit To Forest River-

Another female seemed to know that the borders were crowded with wolves, as a she-wolf around the same age as Sitka approached. Taking up a position near the Iberian wolf, Sitka looked towards the gray she-wolf listening to what she had to say. It seemed that she wasn’t as confident in herself as Sitka had been, but she knew that confidence was hard to earn in this world, especially when there were always wolves showing you that you could do better. But resting in the confidence with one’s abilities came with time and patience, and knowing what you were good at, and what you need to work on. After the gray she-wolf had approached and introduced herself as Lexavein, Sitka’s attention was grabbed by one of the pack wolves moving. It was a beautiful white she-wolf, being much younger than the stoic male that lingered in the back, waiting and watching. She wondered if he would ever introduce himself. Something inside her made her want to get to know him better, and with her gaze lingering, she was a little embarrassed as she caught the male’s eyes once before hers flickered away. Bringing mint eyes back to the she-wolf that was asking her and Lexavein a question, she smiled. What are you looking for in a pack? Most would say, safety, a place to call home. Those were nothing but true for Sitka, but she knew that generic answers weren’t going to stand out. “I want a pack where I can focus on my weaknesses and make them into strengths. To provide care for a pack I can call family at the end of the day,” The she-wolf said, eyes lingering on the younger members at the border. “And help push the future generation to strive to be their best,” She concluded her sentence, and sat patiently, watching the wolf that was most definitely half-blind. The way he moved his head and how he had it tilted ever so slightly. It was very apparent that he wasn’t able to see out of his other eye, and with that, he compensated by turning his head in weird angles to look fully at a wolf. He didn’t seem bothered by it, so he must have been born with the defect, but he took on the leader-like position rather quickly, telling her that he was potentially the future Alpha of the pack. Time would only tell though. Looking to the one-eyed male, she listened to his words, stating that they would all be placed as Omegas until they had proven they could rise through the ranks. Sitka was definitely not looking to become a superior of the pack, instead she wanted to become a helpful asset. That at the end of the day, she was respected by the wolves around her, and they saw that she was indeed fit to stay here. As the orange wolf finished up, the male in the back finally stepped forward, speaking. She was transfixed on him, soaking in everything he said. He did not introduce himself, which disappointed her a bit, not knowing what the male’s name was. But she would definitely get it from him. As the others started following him, she followed as well, heading to where they would be deemed worthy or not by the Alpha pair. And she would get to meet some pups along the way it sounded like. -Exit to Forest River- @dante Delta Baron @lexavein Hunter Devika Beta Lysic Sentinel Hydran Hunting Superior Parker

Their answers to her inquiry only endear the new wolves to her further; they all seemed such genuine characters! Devika dearly hopes they find a family in one another; after all, Dante was practically a father to her and they weren’t related by blood. It was the wolf that determined the family, not anything else. With a cheery smile and a sweep of her tail, she welcomes them to the territory, emerald gaze glinting merrily. How exciting! She wished for the opportunity to get to know each one of them better; the brutish female is practically bursting with questions. To live a rogue life! The stories these wolves must hold! But there would be time for that later, and surely their mother had some sort of grand test planned. In fact... ”Hydran,” she whispers to her brother, a mischievous sort of look to her gaze. ”I’d bet my tail that mothers going to test them at the hunting grounds - that’s how she had us earn our new ranks, after all. What say we skip the detour and head straight there?” With her brother’s presumable agreement, she nips at his ear before breaking into a loping run, tail wagging high as she heads for the hunting grounds. || Exit to Hunting Grounds || Sentinel Hydran

So many newbies, so many recruits in such a short amount of time. It seemed convenient, thought Hydran, with this newfound yet looming threat that the Ferus fellow had warned them about. It was concerning, scary even, but knowing their combined strenght had been multiplied by three gave the hunter a feeling of safety. ”Hydran, I’d bet my tail that mothers going to test them at the hunting grounds - that’s how she had us earn our new ranks, after all. What say we skip the detour and head straight there?” Devika asked, niping at the male's ear. "Yeah, she is not really gonna let them rest their paws a bit now is she," replied Hydran, following her sister down to prepare for the test. Exit to the Hunting Grounds Hunter Devika

It seemed like his job at the borders was done. As the teen wasn't one of Ventus' actual kids, he didn't really have much say in whether or not Baron would get in, let alone if the sudden appearance of two more rogues would have a change in Lubrusca's ranks. Straying to the outskirts of the conversation, the golden hunter let his mind wander. Oh no! He had left his deaf beauty in the new commons alone, completely forgetting to mouth to her where he was going. Guilt struck deep within his heart. Almost instantly, he grew antsy, wanting to head back to make sure that the beauty was okay. Soon, with the decision of Ventus' pups and General Dante himself, he bolted back with the rest of them towards the commons.

POSTING THIS FOR WACK ON HIS REQUEST AS HE CAN'T ACCESS A PC RIGHT NOW Hydran inhaled deeply the fresh scent of the borders, as the trio walked into the outskirts, the very limit of their precious Lubrusca. Behind the Sentinel came the tall yet young and naive Scout, and behind him walked none other than the alphess herself. Her son sighed, with various emotions dominating his thoughts. A not so performance booster mix of nervousness and annoyance, fruit of knowing what to do but not how to do it, and the fact that her mother was clearly aware of it, hence her presence. "Hey, Milo," the orange wolf spoke, trying his best to smile at the youngling. "Go check out those bushes over there, see if there's anything interesting. Especially if you can find a new nap spot."The scout nodded happily, almost jumping his way into the nature before him. "Mom," Hydran said while turning around, struggling to look at his mother in the face. "I think I can do this on my own," speaking out of pride more than objective reasoning. He felt comforted by Ventus's overwatch, yet his urges to branch out and become an adult of his own were greater. Scout Milo Alphess Ventus

| Alphess Ventus of Lubrusca | Her son took to the borders quickly with Milo. She was proud of how far he had come in his position, and the mother couldn’t help but dote over her third born son, one of the only ones to remain in the pack alive. Lysic and Hydran were her only two sons. Fenrir had disappeared, no word from him in some time to either her or Snow Rose. She had thought at first that it had just been a small trip to find herbs for Snow Rose. But after the Salutary confirmed that she had not given Fenrir any such task, they had simply waited for him to return. But he had not. Searching through the territory had been left up to Mochi and the wolves he picked to do so. But there was no word of her son, and so she knew that he had either abandoned his pack, or met a cruel fate outside the borders where they would not be able to find him. It was too dangerous to venture outside the territory anymore, and she had made sure that none of her wolves would do so. The borders would be as far as they touched the outside world, and that was it. She had made that clear to everyone in her pack, especially after her son’s disappearance.
Ventus had been caught up in her own thoughts, that orange eyes were simply staring ahead, not really seeing what her son and Milo were doing. The thing that brought her back to the current situation, was Hydran’s voice. She looked up, wondering what her son was going to ask, or say. The words that fell from his mouth, hurt. She was not here to babysit him. She just simply wanted to spend time with him. She knew that it would look like she was watching his every move, seeing what he was doing. But she just wanted to be in the presence of one of her children. Devika was so wrapped up with Baron, Lysic wrapped up in his duties. And Keala took more to Mochi than she did her. Hydran was her only child that she could find time to spend with, and so she had not really thought her actions through. But the mother was desperate for interaction with one of her children.
“I didn’t come along because I thought you wouldn’t be able to do this,” She spoke, voice soft. “I just wanted to spend time with you. All of you are growing up so fast,” Her voice was laced with sorrow. “I’d just like to spend some time with you, nothing more. I’m not here to judge how you work your position. You are more than capable for the job, which is why I gave you this rank,” She whispered, approaching her son as she gave him a lick on the cheek. “I know you are more than capable of doing this on your own. And I’m proud of you for that,” She spoke in a soft tone, looking towards him with orange eyes that were conflicted. Worry and sadness swirling together. She had not meant to overstep, and she hoped he would know that by now.

L Y S I C Heir of Lubrusca
Lysic appeared at the borders, having not wanted to see his mother and brother, he had gone to the exact opposite side. Part of the male had hoped that Basil would follow, that she would maybe see what was wrong with him. But she was not there currently, and half of Lysic thought that she would not come, and that she didn’t care about him. He gave a small sigh, trotting towards the borders. As he approached, his eye caught onto a moving figure not too far away from him. He turned his head, looking towards the figure that was heading out of Lubrusca territory. Who was that? He moved forward, seeing that it was Devika who was passing over the borders. “Devika!” He called out, but she didn’t listen, and kept going. The male ran after her, trying to get her to stop, but she took off as well. Heading out of the territory, and away from Lubrusca territory. What was she doing?
He wouldn’t take himself too far out of the territory, instead coming to a stop as he looked towards her retreating figure, running as quickly as she could away from the territory. A pang of sadness presented itself in his heart, and he looked away. He needed to tell mother, but right now would not be the time for that. He would tell her tonight, once they were all in the commons once more. He needed to make sure that she was not somewhere vulnerable to break down, and that she would instead be in the comfort of her own commons and den. Lysic pulled himself from the scene of where Devika had vanished, her white fur no longer visible against the green that lay outside the territory. He brought himself to walk away, head hung low as he walked. He should have been in the hunting grounds with everyone else, but what could a one-eyed wolf do to help them?

Salutary Snow Rose
Pretty brown eyes and a mind full of thoughts
The gentle spring zephyr that swept over the land brought its sweet tones of honey and blossoms whisking through Snow Rose's fur as she took a grateful inhale of the refreshing aroma. The last time she had truely set foot upon the Lubruscan borders had been when she approached the pack looking for a home. It had been such a long time since that fateful day, the ground she stood on had still held the lingering scent of stale blood left behind from the war forced upon the pack by Ferus. It was almost unsettling to think that she had been unknowingly walking across the graves of warriors from each pack. But as the seasons changed, their sacrifices had gone on to give life to the fields of flowers that now bloomed across the lush green grasses of Lubrusca's eastern borders.
A warm gaze was aimed over her shoulder, watching with a soft smile as her newest apprentice followed in her footsteps. A pang of guilt rattled in her chest, completely aware that she was looking back on a sight that should have been two young boys travelling eagerly behind her, yet Fenrir gone missing with no word to herself or his mother. Apart of her wondered if she had done something wrong that had lead to the cause of his disappearance, as she had grown so accustomed to taking responsibility for the outcome of others lives after they took on her influence. It was something that had been taught to her very early on in her own training to become a Salutary. Though she had also been quickly taught that guilt was not something worth carrying for too long, especially with things like this that were never truely her fault. So all Snow Rose could do was look back at Maddox with a hope that she would be able to be better for him.
"Look at all the flowers!" She exclaimed with her chiming vocals, a slender paw gently running itself over the soft petals of a fat daisy. "Maybe we should pick some to take back for your siblings," she suggested as she continued onwards, wise eyes searching for herbs she knew would be sprouting from the rich soil beneath them. "You remember what burnet looks like, yes? And goldenrod? There should be a few sprouts of those plants around here somewhere, your mission today will be to collect them for me and tell me what they're used for." Snow Rose instructed with a nod, knowing that her apprentice should do well with this simple recall and collection task.

Maddox"Maybe our future's so bright it fucking burns like a Wildfire." The young male followed his mentor happily, the borders being an all too familiar place. They could find all sorts of herbs, and even beyond the borders. He knew that they probably wouldn’t adventure far, but he wanted to be able to find all the things Lubrusca territory didn’t have. Snow Rose looked back at him, and he gave her a warm smile, one that he wore everywhere with him. The young male missed his companion. Fenrir had disappeared without a word to anyone in the pack. Fenrir had been someone he looked up to besides Snow Rose. He was older than Maddox, and had much more experience in the herbal field that Maddox himself had at that very moment. He thought that they would be able to train together, take Snow Rose’s teachings, and then apply it between the both of them for the better of the pack. It seemed that the other male didn’t have quite the same dream in mind. Maddox had noticed how he would always look at his siblings, wanting to be with them while they were hunting and sparring. He had wanted to be just like them, but didn’t have the ability to because he had dedicated himself to a different path.
He knew that any Salutary should know how to defend themselves, especially for herbal expeditions that led into the rogue lands that were much too dangerous for them to not know how to defend themselves. Anything could happen beyond the borders, and there was no protection like there was in pack territory. His rank would hold no value to any daring to try and hurt him, and that was why Ventus had almost forbade them from exiting the territory. Recent events had only worsened her mindset, and Maddox wished that maybe her children had stayed. They had been so much fun to play with when he was younger, and he missed them all dearly. But Maddox’s growing mind was starting to understand that there was much more to this world than fun and games. There was danger that lurked outside the place he called home. There was something that no one had told him about quite yet.
The male was distracted by his thoughts that he almost ran into the rear end of Snow Rose from walking much too fast. He slowed his pace back down, coming up to align his shoulders with her haunches, eyes looking around at the expanse of land before them. He smiled as he laid eyes on the flowers, ear twitching as he looked towards the array of them in front of him. He could already tell that there were herbs mixed in, things that they would be able to collect and bring back with them. The male shifted slightly, listening to Snow Rose as she talked. Her voice had always been something that soothed him. Something that calmed him even in the hardest of times. It brought a happier feeling, something that he would sometimes lose should he get too lost in the travesties that happened in Lubrusca territory. His eyes wandered, looking over the expanse of flowers before them and immediately started searching out the herbs that she had assigned.
Burnet and Goldenrod, some simple herbs that he had memorized by now. He knew what they were used for, and what they looked like. Burnet had long tendrils, the tip being covered with a raspberry color to the flower. It could be used for wounds healing faster, and from what he had heard, it had a much more watery and plain taste than anything else. Goldenrod was exactly what it sounded like; a plant that had golden rods for flowers. Goldenrod could be used for putting in wounds to help with healing, as well as help with stiffness and aching of joints. It was particularly good when it came to elder wolves, or young wolves that got themselves hurt a lot.
The yearling brought his nose to the ground, seeking out the familiar scent of each herb. He found the Goldenrod first, it was one of the most common herbs that he had found within his time being Snow Rose’s apprentice. He picked the herb delicately, using precision and the technique that Snow Rose had taught him to pick herbs so that they could be used properly without being damaged. He trotted back towards her, putting it in front of her. “Goldenrod can be chewed into a poultice and put into wounds so that they can heal faster. It can also help with aching joints and stiffness. It works really well for elders who have bad joints, and for young pups that are getting themselves hurt,” He spoke, waiting for her approval before he went off and searched for the Burnet.
It took a moment for him to find it, dragging him a bit further into the field from Snow Rose than the Goldenrod had. He picked it gently, doing the same process he had with the Goldenrod. Damaged herbs would have to be thrown out or used right away, and they had no use for these right now. He trotted back to Snow Rose, making sure that he watched his step to not step on any of the beautiful flowers that were growing. He put the Burnet in front of Snow Rose, looking at her with excitement. “Burnet can be used alongside Goldenrod to help heal wounds faster,” He spoke, looking towards her with hopeful eyes.
But his attention was taken from her as he saw something that was far more interesting in that moment. Bringing himself to his feet rapidly, he walked away from Snow Rose for a second. He returned only a moment later, carrying a singular white rose in his maw. Placing it in front of her, he looked up to her with happy eyes. “Look! Its just like you Mo-” He stopped himself. Was he just going to call her ‘Mom’? He shook his head slightly, looking towards Snow Rose apologetically. “Sorry, I got a little ahead of myself,” He spoke before wagging his tail, embarrassment rushing through him as he waited for her to speak.

Milo, truly, hadn't been to this part of the borders in a while. Cecilia usually came to this part on her rounds while Milo often went to the other. Over here he could definitely find a new napping place! Maybe a nice cool hollow log for the warming weather so that he could have shade but still a breeze? Upon Hydran's instructions, the scout bounced off towards the shrubbery. The leaves hadn't fully come in yet, but he could tell that they were going to be thick dark leaves. Maybe they were even a herb, but Milo knew nothing about those. If Maddox were here he was sure that his older brother would tell him off for thinking that random leaves were anything of importance. He could hear Ventus and Hydran talking, but just from the tone of their voices he knew that he wouldn't be bouncing back to them soon. Over there was a matter between mother and son, and Milo knew all too well not to mess with that. Ventus was sort of like his mother as an inspirational figure, but from his father's stories, he probably wouldn't ever meet someone like how his mother actually was. Elenor, a warm heart, and loving were all he knew of her, and likely all he ever would. It didn't bother the scout too much though. It's hard to miss something you never truly had. Refocusing himself on his very important task at hand, Milo marked the bush with his scent and continued scouting around for new napping places. Every so often he would mark the borders. He, after all, had an actual job to do with the Alphess present. The young scout kept a constant ear out in case Ventus or Hydran needed him, but otherwise, he went on his merry way. A gentle grin swept over her maw as she watched her apprentice gallop off into the flower fields. Snow Rose was glad to see he was still so keen to master his profession. He reminded the she-wolf of herself when she was a young lass glued to her mothers side, sniffing at every budding flower they passed on their morning gathering sessions. It was those memories that she cherish the most and would never forget. Snow hoped that Maddox was finding his own precious memories through their experiences. The young male shared her passion for herbs as much as they shared the limited hours of the day together. Throughout this time, Maddox had become more than just a student or a friend, Snow Rose had created an attachment to the male forged so strongly that he might as well have been of her own blood.
Snow Rose sighed contently, gently dropping her body into the bed of flowers below her and inhaling the beautiful scents that drifted around her, ashy eyelids fluttering closed while her ears twitched at the distant crunching of grass and twigs underneath Maddox's paws. Despite all of the trauma these lands had endured, the honey still smelled sweet and the winds still danced along emerald blades of grass as if blood and ash didn't lay beneath the very soil she lay upon. Snow Rose blocked out the images of melted skin and bubbling blood set against flickering red flames, opening her caramel eyes to look up at the fat white clouds that floated lazily overhead. The she-wolf reminded herself once again that these struggles were behind her while the future called her name with blind hope, despite the fact that Ebony had yet to return amidst rumours of accumulating evil residing in the looming mountains. Snow Rose had to hold on to that hope as tight as she could, otherwise there was no point in continuing any further.
Dusty ears twitched as she heard her apprentice approach, a serene smile instantly painting her features as she watched him trot towards her with a maw full of flora. His description of each plants use was flawless, he was proving himself to be a real prodigy with every passionate word that left his mouth. Snow Rose nodded her approval. "I'm so proud of you Maddox, you've learnt so quickly that I feel I'm running out of teachings." She giggled to the boy before his attention was caught elsewhere, her soft eyes trying to follow his gaze before he was returning to her with a beautiful blooming rose clasped gently between his teeth. Snow Rose gasped in awe at the beautiful white rose, the plant with which she shared a name. Though her admiration was quickly cut short as she caught the lingering word that he had caught before he could let it slip from his tongue. Snow Rose smiled as he apologised.
"Maddox, you should never be embarrassed to speak you mind," she started as she brought herself up to her paws, her caramel sights locking with his own, "I have treated you like my own son since the day I met you, and I always will. I'm sure your mother is watching you grow from wherever she may rest, and I'm certain she is just as proud of you as I am. I know it must be difficult having to grow up without your mum, but I hope you know that I will always be here for you in any way that you need me, Maddox." Snow Rose leaned in and nuzzled the boy as warmly and as lovingly as any mother would. "You're my little boy, and I will cherish you for as long as I live."
