Hot Springs (Permitted)
Geysers (Prohibited) A unique feature of Sorelus is it’s partially volcanic nature. While none of the mountains smell sulphurous or seem volcanic, the western quarter of the territory holds a truly magnificent gem. Half of the area is a minefield of active geysers. These spray volatile boiling water and are incredibly dangerous. No wolf is allowed into this half of the territory to prevent injuries and death. However, the other half of the volcanic region is much more tame, holding naturally heated hot pools that stay warm even through winter. The deeper the pool the warmer it is, so it is recommended to stay in the shallower pools until one is acclimatized to the warm water. It’s an area where one can lounge and enjoy simply wasting time.

Beta WingnutIf I Don't Understand, You are the one at fault The perfection that was her hot pools was about to be upset by four new bodies. Moose. Edon. Valencia. Kodiak. Four frames more than normal to disturb perpetually rumbling water. Almost longingly, amber eyes looked towards the pools where she had spent many minutes in near bliss. That would now be changed into a new form of entertainment. The socialization of the four newest members of Sorelus was crucial for future teamwork in sparring and hunting.
Turning to face the group, she laid out the ground rules again just in case,"This half of the hot springs is safe. Anything further west is off limits due to extensive geyser activity." Giving the group a slow blink, Wingnut turned back to the water. Gently, she lowered herself into the water one paw at a time. Once the ashen stockings on her legs were completely submerged, she lowered her torso into the heated mineral water. Hopefully, the four other wolves had also been getting themselves into the water so that general conversation could spark up between them.

Then snowy female was the first to follow Wingnut to the hot springs, the Beta's brown and black pelt was an easy one to keep track of in the slowly thawing territory, though it was surprising to see how the snow seemed to not be present around the springs, she then noticed how the steam seemed to rise up and disappear into thin air. This sight made her ears perk up curiously, walking further into the permitted zone of this part of Sorelus territory. "This place is unlike anything I've ever seen." the she wolf said, surprise and wonder clear in her tone, almost like a wonder struck pup. Kodiak then turned her blue eyed gaze to see wingnut slowly sink herself into the water, showing that these pools were safe, a loud 'whooshing' sound drew her attention as a smaller geyser in the prohibited section exploded to life, she understood the Beta's warning now. The Hudson Bay wolf took a hesitant paw forward, placing it into the warm water before feeling relaxed at the sensation, then another paw and another until she was standing in one of the more shallow pools, a deep sigh escaping her maw as she savored the feeling of the relaxing water. @wingnut Hunter Edon

Having waited for Edon to wake up, Moose was a little bit late to the springs, but it wasn't exactly hard to find the springs on his own, knowing if he were to get lost both he and the Mexican gray wolf would probably be able to find their way together. His somewhat older friend had a better sense of direction than the ginger wolf did, that was for sure. Head held high, the hunter followed the mixture of wingnut's scent and Kodiak's knowing the females had traveled together to the springs, which he had never bothered to explore up until now since Wingnut had invited them. the large male did think it was somewhat humorous how the beta had invited the, then just left without waiting, it was very much like her and unlike anyone else he had met in their pack. Not long after this thought, amber eyes spotted a white and brown pelt, and a brown and black pelt both partially and almost entirely submerged in the strangely bright water, his pace picked up some to meet them when he stopped dead in his tracks, the loud hissing and boom of one of the large geysers erupting making him jump somewhat. He then realized he was not in any kind of danger and relaxed some, giving a soft 'heh' ears drooping somewhat, hoping no one noticed how he had jumped, he had a reputation to uphold here after all, he didn't want to be seen as some wimpy pup who got scared by a geyser. @wingnut Hunter Edon

Unsurprisingly, Valencia had managed to become somewhat lost on her way to the hot springs. It shouldn't have been that hard for her to follow the trail of Wingnut's scent, but once she had gotten closer to the destination that she so desperately sought, the overpowering smell of sulphur had thrown her off course. Presently, she sat with her fluffy butt planted to the icy ground, determined not to loose herself more than she already had, which turned out to be the smart thing for her to do, because she eventually spotted Moose's massive ginger figure in the distance, a stark beacon to her caramel eyes among the expanse of trees and snow. With little time wasted, she jumped to her feet and dashed after the small group that had successfully found their way through the territory, determined not to loose them as she had lost Wingnut. A sigh of relief broke from her maw as she emerged from the tree-line surrounding the hot springs, her warm breath curling against the cold air in a similar fashion to the plumes of steam that rose from the gently rippling pools of enticingly warm water. Valencia was suddenly all too aware of the chilled atmosphere as she walked up beside Moose and watched Kodiak submerge herself in the springs. The little she-wolf had to stop herself from whimpering as she immediately began wondering why the hell she was just standing around. FWOOOOSH!"Oh goodness!" She cried in surprise, her attention being brought to the erupting geyser that had shot boiling hot water into the sky a fair distance away from the safety of the hot springs. Her jaw hung open in awe as she watched the pillar of water fall back to the ground in a fine mist, a beautiful phenomenon that had its dangers, and was rightfully labelled as an off-limits area of the territory. An amazed smile crossed her lips before she turned to Moose in the hopes of catching some of his reaction to the startling appearance of the geyser's outburst. She had to suppress a chuckle as she noticed that he seemed to be mostly startled, yet instead of drawing attention to him, she instead wasted no more time in entering the waters, giving a playful brush of her tail against his shoulder as she passed. Valencia groaned softly as the warm water rose up her body with every step she took, wrapping her tiny frame in a welcoming embrace. Caramel eyes shifted back to look at the towering figure of her friend. "Well? Are you going to come in?" She teased with a cheeky grin, sure that he would enjoy being in the water more than just standing around.

Appearing alongside Moose, Edon's amber colored eyes seemed to automatically find the familiar white and honey hued pelt submerged in the warm water of the spring. Unintentionally, he moved towards her without mentioning a goodbye to his companion, slipping into the springs, feeling the warmth wash over his tired muscles soothing them into submission and he let out a sigh of relief. The hunter watched as the geyser exploded just beyond the group and as Valencia called out to Moose, a smile finding its way onto his maw, happy his pack was finally able to relax for once after the grueling move to their new territory. Edon felt himself sink until everything but the top of his head and his nose was submerged, his eyes slowly falling half lidded in comfort. Hunter Kodiak Hunter Moose @wingnut Apprentice Valencia

The large Amber male watched as Edon moved further down toward the springs to join Kodiak where she was submerging herself into the warm water, he wasn't upset by the fact that Edon did not give him a goodbye, in fact he would rather watch him go after the girl he so obviously liked. Moose's attention was quickly grabbed by Valencia, that heavenly scent of hers washing over him as she brushed her tail over his shoulder, amber eyes following her honey colored pelt as she took forward steps into the warm water, turning to look at him and ask him if he wanted to join with a cheeky grin, it took little to no time for him to know the answer to her question. Moose smiled too in response, nodding his head before he followed her into the water, a soft sigh escaping him as the warm water did wonders for his muscles, almost like the warmth unwound any tension within him. "I'm glad Gramps decided to give you the day off so you could come hangout with us." Moose looked at Valencia as he spoke. Hunter Edon @wingnut Apprentice Valencia

The grumpy older male was one of the last to arrive, if not the last, having taken his time getting up and following the group. It wasn't exactly that he didn't want to go--he just knew he wasn't the best at light-hearted conversation and small talk. Nevertheless, he followed the scents of his new pack mates to the hot springs, breaking the treeline just in time to see a geyser spouting a good distance away from the warm pool the wolves found themselves soaking in. Oh well, even if he didn't have the best time talking he could at least relax in the warm water and ease his joints and muscles. He let out a groan of relief the moment he sunk his front paws in the water, quickly following to immerse himself in the steamy liquid. His amber eyes slipped closed as he took a moment to simply bask, ears swiveling to listen to the commotion around him. If he were spoken to, he'd speak. Other than that he was perfectly content just soaking for a while. He was getting old, and he knew he only had a few years left. All those hard battles would catch up at some point, and he figured if he hadn't been killed in a fight he would no doubt die early from the stresses of the past. He wouldn't be surprised if he left in a violent manner, either. It would be fitting for someone who had committed the crimes he had. Almost like the souls he had taken in his ignorance would come down to drag his own soul from his body for his judgement. And that would be okay. A beaming smile immediately crossed her face, satisfied as she watched her giant friend enter the steaming water. With Edon and Junichiro also joining the rest of them in the indulgence of the hot springs, Valencia was finally content with her surroundings. If she was a cat, she would have started purring with a volume dangerous enough to start an avalanche in the nearby mountains. But alas, she was indeed a canine, so she simply sat in the gently rippling water, enjoying every second that passed. With her cranium being the only part of her body left out of the water, she could thank the steam that drifted around her, as it only made her poofy fur look even thicker. To some it may have made her look cute, to others, she would only come off as looking ridiculous, but Valencia didn't care, nor had she—or would she—ever. She had always been too wound up in other things to really care about her own image. Most of the time she was entranced by the nature around her, always sticking her nose into patches of flowers or laying on her back and simply watching the clouds drift by above her, but today, she found herself mystified by the hot springs, and curious about the wolves that she shared the company of. Valencia couldn't say that she knew any of them extremely well. She had known Moose and Edon the longest, but she hadn't really gotten the chance to learn all of their fascinating quirks and traits while they were rogues, and ever since they had joined Sorelus and Val had been given the honour of learning from Cecil, she had been spending most of the time accompanying the old man that she affectionally referred to as "Pa", short for grandpa of course. With the thought of her mentor in mind, she was surprised to hear Moose then mention him. It was as if the oversized hunter was telepathic... Valencia giggled quietly to herself at this thought. "It's a shame that he couldn't come with us," she replied, her tones slightly drowsy thanks to the relaxing effects of the hot springs, "the warm water would surely be good for his old bones." Heck, the warm water would be good for any member of the pack, no matter their age. Valencia had felt her muscles lose their tension as she had submerged herself in the water, and her slowly ageing joints weren't getting any younger, but the springs were definitely relieving the ache that she had started to feel after spending most of her time on the move throughout the territory, either exploring or hunting for herbs through the snow. It seemed that Wingnut, being the only wolf to have known of the hot springs presence, had been keeping this part of the territory to herself, and for a good reason. The Beta was a stoic and closed off sort of character, with intentions and thoughts that Valencia could never quite understand. So the apprentice could only imagine that a wolf like herself would find great pleasure in taking solitary moments away from the pack at a place like this. Caramel optics were soon looking upon the chocolate hued female, questions springing to mind as she had remembered they were here to get to know one another, and where better for Valencia to start than with the she-wolf she had barely gotten the chance to converse with yet? "So Wingnut, how long have you known Rowan?" She prompted the Beta, knowing that she was one of the Alpha's closest companions and had therefore probably known him the longest out of anyone in the pack. Valencia was hoping that it would spark conversation regarding the creation of Sorelus and what the group had been before they founded the pack. Val had only joined their group a few days before they had settled and established themselves as a pack, so her curiosity as to what had happened before her time within the group was definitely high. The nosey female also had questions about the loss of the Alpha's eye and the crippling of his leg, but she felt these questions might prove to be a sensitive topic that she would save for when she was sure the time was absolutely right.

Blue hues watched as Edon and Moose appeared, Valencia having appeared shortly before they had. A soft smile appeared on her relaxed maw as Edon's amber eyes seemed to find her first, taking little to no time to extend one of his paws forward, then another until he came over to join her in the warm pool she had claimed as her own for the time being. Her soft voice came as he sunk into the water. "I was wondering when you'd wake up." she teased gently before asking a curious question. "Did you dream about anything weird or interesting?" one of her ears drooped, then she began sinking further into the water, letting out a relaxed sigh at the feeling, too bad she hadn't found this place sooner. She then curiously looked over as their general too decided to join them, a welcome addition as any, this little gathering was going well.

Seeing that sweet smile appear on Valencia's features only made the smile Moose wore last a while longer, it was a given that he wanted to join the pretty female in the little pool she sunk herself into, watching as the steam from the water gave her pelt a very poofy appearance. Moose could only find it adorable on her, almost fitting to her sweet personality and even sweeter scent, was the soft giant falling for the smaller apprentice? or had she simply captivated him and put him under some kind of spell because he had never encountered someone like her. The ginger male sunk in until about his neck, looking over at Kodiak and Edon as the creamy female addressed his friend, was this how Edon felt whenever he was around her? If this was what he felt then surely he couldn't blame the Mexican wolf for falling so hard, though that wouldn't stop his teasing. He turned his attention back to Valencia as she spoke, agreeing with her comment about it being a shame Cecil was not able to join them at the springs, the thought of his old bones followed shortly after. Moose gave a nod of agreement before hearing the apprentices question to the Beta, it was a good question, one he looked forward to the answer to, along with questions about the alphas eye and such, but he thought it would probably be rude to ask aloud, after all, had he been in that predicament he would be upset had someone asked about his damaged eye and leg, unless it was because of some bad ass story that would earn him major points within his pack. A soft chuckle arose from the male at the thought, amber eyes finding Valencia again before landing finally on Wingnut, awaiting her answer.

As Edon looked towards his interest, he felt the world move farther and farther away, the voices of their peers disappearing into the darkness that surrounded himself and Kodiak. He felt his heart beating violently in his chest as she opened her maw to speak and he had only just realized she was speaking to him. Reality snapped back into perspective as he tried to raise his maw out of the water but as he opened it, he felt the warm, sulfur tasting water fall down his throat and into his lungs as he inhaled to respond. Red hot fire rose in his throat as the liquid found its way into where it shouldn’t be, causing him to feel the heat rush to his face as he tried to suppress sputters and coughs from the irritant. The he-wolf turned away from the she-wolf to keep from spitting water in her face and also to hide his embarrassment. A few minutes passed before he turned to her, clearing his throat and blinking away the tears that clung to his fur from the struggle before finally acknowledging her statement, hoping she would pretend what just happened didn’t as he was trying to, "I was wondering when you'd wake up." She had said, “Did you dream about anything weird or interesting?” she wondered aloud. Edon raised a brow as he pretended to think, letting a small Hmmm rumble in his chest before looking back at her. “You know me, I love my sleep. I didn’t dream about anything, though, just taking as much time off as I could.”

Blue orbs remained focused on the handsome Mexican wolf beside her in the rather small sulfurous pit of warm water. Their eyes met for a long time, but it wasn't that kind of awkward eye contact you make with an unfamiliar pack mate when you're absolutely staring at them, then they notice and you look away as if you weren't staring. They both seemed interested in what the other had to say and that much was obvious between the hunters, ears perked and tails stilled, there was nothing but attentiveness. Especially when she watched as Edon started choking on water, not aware of where his muzzle was in the water perhaps? The female became concerned, her mouth opening as her heart sunk some, getting closer to the male out of concern, her ears flattened some in a concerned expression, closing her mouth before letting out a soft breath when he stopped hacking and coughing on the water, as he tried to make a smooth recovery she couldn't help but find the humor in it, ears sitting up straighter in response, a soft smile finding her features as he rumbled. "Taking time off huh? You aren't feeling old already, are you? the female jested, tilting her head some.

Beta WingnutIf I Don't Understand, You are the one at fault Her plan was successful. General conversation struck up in small pairs between the five other wolves in the steaming pools. Kodiak and Edon seemed to enjoy speaking to one another, as did Moose and Valencia. Junichiro was left without a partner for conversation due to the cinnamon Beta's lack of communication. Uninterested amber eyes flicked between the two pairs, simply observing until Valencia's voice roped her in.
"So Wingnut, how long have you known Rowan?" her question prompted a series of thoughts. It had been many, many months. Before the male had earned his scars or had even thought about making a pack. He didn't even want to be the leader back then, he simply emerged on top. Shifting under the blanket of heat, the long-limbed she-wolf looked towards the salutary's apprentice.
"I've known him since before he had scars, albeit only briefly. There was a small group of us, only he, Twizzle, and I remain of that group. My brother unfortunately is not here to expand on the story as he is supervising the yearlings' hunt," the Beta curved the story around just how Rowan lost his sight and the use of one of his legs. She knew full well how it happened; her chest had been kicked by that same buck. It was his story to tell, and she knew that one day the new father would tell his pups it, and perhaps the rest of the pack. Settling deeper into the water, Wingnut's amber eyes trailed over to the General, wondering if he had anything to add into the conversation.

The older male was content to simply ask in the pool of warm water and listen to the small conversations going on among the other members--he wasn't one for a lot of talk, wasn't very good at pleasantries, and it wasn't like the group was over-interested in getting to know his past anyway. He didn't particularly have a problem with that; it would save him having to say the same story over and over, and he didn't really like to repeat himself. But there was a part of him that felt... saddened by the fact he had lived such a tale and no one wanted to hear it. But then again, telling a harrowing story and advising kids to not make the same mistakes didn't work anymore. Hadn't for quite a long time. Kids nowadays were even more stubborn than he and had to experience the bad for themselves most of the time before they believe the older folk. The only other way was for him to teach. If he taught them and drilled these ideas into his student's heads, then just maybe they would at least think twice before doing something stupid like lead a group of wolves into human territory. His face was an even more contorted form of a scoff, getting lost in his own thoughts about his young stupidity. Honey eyes raked over the others, wondering if any of them had in them whatever he did to make him do all those things and justify them. He hated humans, didn't care for what happened to them. It was what he did to other wolves, even his own "pack" that kept him awake at night. If his memories weren't enough to remind him, his many, many scars were clear to all those around him that he was dangerous. And even then, Rowan's pack had taken him in, even given him the title of General. He didn't understand why. Perhaps it was because even Rowan didn't know about his big downfall, only of his past battle experience. The question was loud enough in his mind that his lips parted and he began to ask Wingnut a question, until Valencia interrupted with a question of her own. It was fine, she most likely didn't even hear the grunt that was the beginning of Jun speaking. He could wait, or drop it altogether if Wingnut didn't realize he was about to speak. For now he listened to the short rendition the Beta gave of how she met the Alpha. @wingnut Apprentice Valencia
