The large males amber eyes looked from the two elderly wolves over in the direction of another pair of wolves. Wow, there's a lot of wolves up here, I wonder why? He did not feel threatened by the strange amount of wolves up on the rocky terrain though, the opposite in fact. He hoped in being here he would finally gain some allies or some companions. Maybe be adopted into another pack if he was near a border? Perhaps that was a bit optimistic of him, but he found no harm in hoping for something good to come of him stumbling upon this place. His ears perked up as he saw another wolf padding over to join them, noticing the dark female that had been near him before he made his way down toward he and the other two wolves. His coat showing some black against silver and some brown hues too, he seemed to be about the same size as Moose but not as bulky. The brown male had no ill intentions toward the incoming male though, at least not currently, he only hoped he would feel the same. his tail wagged softly still, licking his muzzle before sniffing at the air. StormFrost wakes to the sound of cheerful birds chirping, well rested and ready to start a new day. She stands and shakes out her glossy pelt before padding out of her makeshift den. Squinting her eyes in the sunlight, she takes a whiff of the air. She is not hungry, as the previous night's hunt was satisfactory. She would, however, need to hunt later. She stretches her back and knows it would be wise to continue traveling. The scent of other wolves leads her, even though the smell is a bit stale. Moving at a even pace, she continues her journey to a new home. The black she-wolf disappears into the trees, ears alert for noise.
Time passes and she finds herself in familiar territory, although she had merely seen the land before, never had she actually been there. A large lake provides a drink for her as she continues moving, soon seeing a range of mountains before her. She is not sure about where to go: the mountains, a lake, or grasslands. She concludes that she should continue in the direction she is headed in, as it passes through mountains and runs beside lakes.
Her ears prick up, a rustle in the grass has alerted her to the location of a mouse. She crouches, creeping closer toward the small rodent. It's easy prey, and she knows she can catch it. It's over quick; with a snap of her jaws, the mouse is no more, and she settles down to eat before continuing her journey. She stumbles upon a small stream, where she drinks again and keeps moving.
StormFrost's mind swirls as she recalls her first encounter with another rogue.
The scent of a nearby animal hits her nose hard, and she sniffs the air. It's another wolf, but she does not know who it is. She looks around and sees a large male wolf with white fur walking along in the distance. He has no pack scent, so she imagines he is a rogue as well. She trots up to the stranger wolf, making sure to not seem hostile. The male is quite calm but appears surprised to see another wolf in the area. "Greetings, stranger. I am StormFrost."
"I am Kalo. What brings you to this area?"
"I am in search of a pack."
"I am afraid you will not find one here, traveller. This is rogue land."
"'Tis a lonely life, wouldn't you say?"
Kalo sits on his haunches, scratching at his neck. "I suppose. I was born a rogue, I see no point in joining a pack. However, if you continue on your journey, you will find packs. The pack life would suit you," he adds, cocking his head at StormFrost. "You seem very strong and fast."
StormFrost dips her head in thanks. "Thank you, Kalo. I suppose I should be on my way. Be safe, my friend."
Kalo is already padding away, but he looks back at StormFrost. "Safe journeys to you as well, traveller."
StormFrost continues her quest to find a pack, a hopeful feeling in her heart.
Since then, StormFrost has opted instead for a temporarily solitary life with other wolves as allies instead of packmates. She finds herself in a hilly area with a few mountains and a lake nearby, and decides that for the time-being, this will be her home. The weather is not too hot nor cold, prey is abundant, and the terrain is hospitable. She searches around and finds a suitable cave-like rock and dirt structure for a den, deciding to settle down for a little while while she observes her new home from the cave entrance.

StormFrost's golden eyes shine as she pads up a slope, her dark pelt absorbing the sunlight and warming her up. The previous day had proved tiring and she wound up falling asleep at the entrance of her den. All around are more and more wolves, each one unique in their own way, like the massive brown male who looks around happily at other wolves. StormFrost yawns, her white teeth shining in the sun. Her tail wags happily as she notices that the brown male seemed new as well. At least I'm not the only newcomer! She thinks to herself. Perhaps they will become friends.

Thankfully it seemed that the other elder still had a good sense of humour on her, "Well, look at that, someone else managed the hike. It's nice to meet you Griz. Didn't think I would meet someone with my kind of life experience up here. I'm Celeste. Just happen to be passing through." Shooting the other elder a smile with worn teeth Griz responded with a chuckle, "Well we ain't dead yet! Good to meet you, Celeste." At last the first young blood joined their conversation, a hulking teddy bear announcing himself as 'Moose.' The passive granny gave the young male a quick nod. He was such a cutie, probably needed a bit of training, but he would do just fine in the world. The pair of wolves a little ways off still seemed a little reluctant to come and join the trio, the darker female seemingly wanting to join them while the male was more inclined to remain alone. The female announced her name loud enough for Patty to pick up, Mira. The male's cursed mumbling didn't allow her to pick up his name, but in time she figured she would learn it. She was about to yell out something akin to 'get over here lovebirds' at the pair, but they quickly began to approach the trio. A new scent hit her aged nose, the greying female spun to see a large inky frame at the mouth of a den. Shooting the newest stranger an inviting flick of her head, Griz called out, "Why don't you come down and join our little group? More company is never a burden. Also, could you repeat your name again? Your mumbling made it almost impossible to hear what you want us to call you!" Griz directed the second half of her voice back at the approaching male, wanting to know the basics before any good conversation started up between the increasing numbers of wolves. @celeste Hunter Moose Mira Hunter Edon @stormfrost

Hunter Moose @grizelda Mira @celeste Hunter Edon StormFrost's golden gaze sweeps over the other wolves, but none appear familiar. She wishes that she knew at least one of them, but all of the wolves are strangers. It feels a bit lonely, but then again, she has been living this way for most of her life. She notices a group of elders sitting and talking together, but she decides it would be respectful not to butt in. Standing at the outskirts of the group, she mutters things to herself, mostly about why she can't be more social. An elder calls out to her, apparently asking for her to join them. StormFrost stands at the cave entrance, reluctant, as these wolves are not ones she knows. Nevertheless, she cautiously pads forward, slinking around other wolves to the graying female that called out to her. She sits down, dipping her head respectfully in greeting to the old wolf. "Hello. My name is StormFrost. What is yours?"

Moose was glad to see one of the older females acckowledge him with a quick nod, she didn’t seem to feel threatened by his presence, he was thankful for that, sometimes due to his size he was mistaken for a challenger which couldn’t be more wrong right now. He admired the flicks of silver in her pelt, black wolves always had this splendor about them, like living shadows, he thought it was beautiful. His gaze is then turned as he hears another wolf padding over, another ebony coated female nonetheless. He stood with his ears straight up as she joined them, still wagging his tail slowly so his intentions would not be misunderstood, he was looking for companionship, though he didn’t know how long that would last in this territory with the scarce prey. “Stormfrost huh?” He asked, interested in that name, he hadn’t heard anything like it before. @stormfrost @grizelda Mira @celeste Hunter Edon

At last, it seemed that their little band of wolves was growing. While Mira and Ehdornrn, whatever the male had mumbled in response to his name, were still approaching, the black form at the top of the hill had clambered down the rocks. She seemed apprehensive of the group, obviously not quite used to being in the company of so many rogues. Perhaps she wasn't used to rogues being friendly. Griz herself had encountered many rogues who weren't happy to have any company or had gotten annoyed at her slower than typical pace. If that was the case with this rogue then she was free to leave on her own accord, but she seemed friendly enough to approach a group with two elders in it. "Hello, my name is Stormfrost. What's yours?" bright yellow eyes flickered between the faces of the newly formed group. Giving the newest member of their little group a soft smile, Griz's paced tones emerged again, "Nice to meet you Stormfrost! I'm Grizelda, but you can call me Griz or Patty, most wolves do. We've only just come across this valley, how about you? How long have you been here?" The cutie ginger male hummed the newest she-wolf's name from beside her, seemingly amazed at such a name. It surely was unique. From her experience, she knew that there were some packs that had customs in which they name their pups, but she had never made any attempt to join such a pack. Everyone she had conversed with over nine years of life gave her knowledge on many things. But before she delved into the she-wolf's history, she might as well get to know why she was in the Rocklands in the first place. Everyone has a reason for where they are. Griz had come to the Rocklands for peace and quiet but had instead found some lovely company. Everything worked out in the end. @celeste Hunter Moose Hunter Edon Mira @stormfrost

StormFrost beamed at the other wolves, glad to be acknowledged. "I came to the Rocklands in search of a new home. Prey isn't too scarce, and I'm a pretty good hunter. I did used to be in a pack, if you're wondering about my name. It was a tradition, and I was given a special name to symbolize certain things. The storm part mostly pertains to strength, and frost indicates my ability to adapt to harsher climates. Everyone in my pack had a name like that." She gave a sad sigh. "My father... he was an Alpha, and very strong. I loved him very much." She paused. "He... he was killed by a bear when I was only twelve moons old. My mother died shortly after from illness and my brother and I were on our own. He and I separated a few moons ago and I've been on my own ever since. I'd known of the Rocklands before, so I decided to come here."StormFrost's eyes, though filled with sadness, shine with joy at having become acquainted with other wolves. @grizelda Hunter Moose Mira @celeste Hunter Edon

Edon strolled over to the group of wolves gathered in the distance. The she-wolf followed suit. Mira greeted Moose with a nod, opting for a polite bow for the two elders. "Name's Mira," she smiled. "Nice to meet all of you."Another she-wolf arrived at the howl of the older one, joining in the conversation. She introduced herself as "Stormfrost". "I came to the Rocklands in search of a new home."The Stormfrost fella later went on to explain her life story, which saddened Mira too. She thought she saw a hint of sadness in the other ebony female's amber eyes. "My deepest condolences," she dipped her head politely. Her heart ached for Stormfrost, and maybe for herself too. Mira thought about her family, her parents and her siblings. Are my siblings still alive? That brief thought flashed across her mind, but Mira was quick to shake it off. Not the right time to think of that now.Instead, Mira decided to focus on what was going on. A group of rogues was forming quickly, shortly after the daring announcement of one of the elders. The two-year-old looked up to the seniors, wondering what knowledge they could impart to the younger ones. Perhaps some tips about survival, finding someone to love, and about company. "Perhaps I can learn a thing or two from all of you." Hunter Edon @celeste @grizelda Hunter Moose @stormfrost

Edon stood frozen amongst the huge group of wolves before him. He was out of his element, uncomfortable when he wasn’t in his own company alone. His muscles tensed and he stopped a ways away, enough that he didn’t need to yell to the others but enough to keep distance enough to make him less on edge. Introductions, he should actually introduce himself. “Edon, I’m Edon.” He said, his maw barely opening. “It’s.. nice to meet you all.” Honey colored hues fell onto every wolf, they all seemed warm enough, the elders radiating safety, Moose’s gentle nature, Mira’s meekness and Stormfrost’s willingness to open up told him he could relax but how could he when the only comfort he’s known was with family? It would take an effort, Edon knew he needed to be more receptive, but he needed everyone else to work with him as well. @stormfrost Mira @grizelda @celeste

StormFrost sat beside Patty as the large male stood before them. She opened her jaws in a wide yawn, her lips parting to reveal her incredibly sharp fangs. StormFrost could tell immediately that he was uncomfortable being with the group of wolves, and did her best to seem welcoming. He barely opened his jaw to speak, and his voice was a deep rumble. " Edon, I'm Edon." StormFrost's golden gaze drifted over Edon. " I like your name," she said, shifting on her haunches. The name, like hers, was indeed unique. Although she was unsure of the name's meaning, it carried a strength that suited the male rogue. " So," she continued, " what does your name mean?" Hunter EdonMiraHunter Moose@grizelda @celeste

The metallic sparkle in knowledgeable eyes trailed along the faces of the wolves she had gathered around her. The pair was approaching closer as she asked her question to Stormfrost. The little black she-wolf quickly introduced herself as Mira to the rest of the group who may not have heard her before. It was always good to make sure that a wolf was called by the right name. It didn't take long to learn someone's name, remembering it wasn't all that much harder. Griz would always have to time to at least learn someone's name. That is, if it weren't mumbled. "I came to the Rocklands in search of a new home. Prey isn't too scarce, and I'm a pretty good hunter. I did use to be in a pack, if you're wondering about my name. It was a tradition, and I was given a special name to symbolize certain things. The storm part mostly pertains to strength, and frost indicates my ability to adapt to harsher climates. Everyone in my pack had a name like that. My father... he was an Alpha, and very strong. I loved him very much. He... he was killed by a bear when I was only twelve moons old. My mother died shortly after from illness and my brother and I were on our own. He and I separated a few moons ago and I've been on my own ever since. I'd known of the Rocklands before, so I decided to come here," Stormfrost's monologue held much information. Surely, it was saddening to hear that the she-wolf's parents had died when she was so young, but she seemed healthy and thriving. She was only young, there was much more to life that she had yet to see. One day Stormfrost's life wouldn't be dominated by the death of her father and mother. Her name explanation made sense, the obvious youthful strength hidden beneath a thick coat of obsidian. The elder wondered if as this young she-wolf grew older and eventually got weaker if her name would change at all or if she would merely be able to tell the story of it to her pups. Griz personally hadn't had pups, true love never pulling her heartstrings through 9 years of life. But Griz was known for being patient. There was still some time left for a lovely gentleman to sweep her off her paws. Stormfrost had her whole life ahead of her, who was to say what could happen? it seemed that they had come to the Rocklands for similar reasons, Stormfrost's just more permanent. The only things that her speech was missing was the answer to Grizelda's question, how long had she had been in the valley. "I'm truly sorry to hear that, but know that you've still got your whole life ahead of you to look forward to rather than dwell too much in the past. So how long have you been in the rocklands again? I seemed to have missed it," The silvering she-wolf smiled gently towards the young she-wolf. "My deepest condolences," the chime-like tones of Mira directed towards the other ebony female's story brought a small smile to Griz's face. She was so sweet this little one. Both of the darker she-wolves were considerably shorter than the elder, the wonky spiral tracing down her shoulder providing a landmark to the difference in leg length between all of the females. That was one of the majestic things about wolves, Griz mused, that they were all different sizes, species, colours, personalities, and yet with just a simple howl she had still managed to rally them together, even if only momentarily. "Perhaps I can learn a thing or two from all of you," Mira spoke again, her voice directed to all but focused on the two elders. Griz let her tail tap the young she-wolf with a motherly feel, a smile shifted a greying muzzle, "Of course, you'll just have to be a little patient! We aren't the spring chickens we used to be. Less 'storm' and more... 'pond.'" Griz, of course, didn't know the exact meaning behind her words, instead simply referencing Stormfrost's name reasonings with her own twist. "Edon, I'm Edon. It's... nice to meet you all," at last the male spoke relatively clearly, his name being pronounced much better than the slurry of letters it was previously. He still seemed very reserved, not shy, but uncomfortable with all the wolves around him. Placing her rump onto the ground, the patient old lady gave him a slow nod, shimmering golden eyes inviting him to say anything further. He didn't. Instead, Stormfrost's voice permeated the air, the shorter female also down on her haunches, "I like your name. So, what does your name mean?" Grizelda didn't hold the same amount of curiosity towards Edon's name as she did towards the newest member of their little group, but if the question prompted the male to speak and perhaps become a little more comfortable with those around him she would welcome his explanation. He was going to be a tough nut to crack, but patience was key. Griz had her own story of how she also responded to Patty, but she wasn't about to tell it unless asked, or if the conversations stalled after Edon's explanation. " Not too long, actually. I've only been here for about four or five days. I didn't approach you guys at first because I've learned to be cautious when encountering other wolves." StormFrost's mind drifted to thoughts about her new life. " Before, I was actually looking for a pack. I had to give that up, though, so I'm living as a rogue for now. I'm still so young, so like you said, I've got a lot to look forward to. Before, I never stayed with a group of wolves for very long, I hope the Rocklands will be different for me." She cast a look at Edon, who was still on the edge of the group. " Would you like to sit next to me, Edon?" @grizelda Hunter Moose Hunter Edon @celeste Mira

When StormFrost told her sad story of loosing her family Moose's head dropped a little and his ears flattened back onto his wide head, her story reminded him a lot of his own, except it was not a bear or illness that took them away from him, it was territory disputes and a war that exploded into chaos, he had to get out. "I'm sorry for your loss, StormFrost."the large amber male said politely. He enjoyed the story of how she got her name, it was the first he'd heard of such customs, he found her name to be oddly fitting too not to mention immensely tough sounding. Moose turned his eyes to Grizelda as the elder explained that life moves on even after feeling such heavy loss, giving the warning not to dwell too much on the past. He took that sage advice in stride, perking his ears back up before raising his head softly. He looked to Stormfrost again, wondering if the Rocklands would actually be different, or if it was just a step. He watched as she showed interest in Edons name, deciding to take a seat as well before turning his attention back to Grizelda. "So, how does one get 'Patty' from Grizelda?" the larger male inquired curiously. @grizelda @stormfrost Mira Hunter Edon

Celeste was quiet tired from her journey, and sat back to listen as the others chatted away. Her hip was bugging her now, and she laid down for a bit to ease some pain. The conversations ventured around from everyone’s names, to a bit about themselves and their past. She recalled a bit of her own past and smiled when Mira spoke. Mira looked like one of her own pups, Shilo, who had passed away a number of years ago. The old wolf gave Mira a bit of a lopsided smile. “Might have picked up a trick or two on the way…” she remarked and focused a bit more attention on her. “So what brought you here Mira?” she questioned, letting herself join into a conversation.
