At the question of the meaning of his name, Edon froze for a moment. He remembered the stories his mother told Aiyana and himself, about their namesakes and the victorious battles they had won. Edon, his mother's father, a fierce alpha with the might of a grizzly bear who protected his pack with every fiber of his being. And Aiyana, their pack's beautiful den mother, who was as soft spoken and beautiful as the rocky mountain landscape where their pack had resided. His mother never spoke of how they had gotten their names, nor what they meant as far as what they resembled. "I'm unsure," he looked to Stormfrost, bringing his rump down on the cool ground and laying his tail around his paws, "I know only that I was named after my grandfather, he was a role model for those in my mother's pack, he was strong and was willing to lay his life down for his pack. I suppose it was something to remember him by and I suppose my mother also wished for me to possess those same traits." Edon thought for a moment at Moose's question, that was a weird name to get from Grizelda. He'd have probably gone with Griz if he were to choose one. The male cocked his head to the side, his ears swiveling to encourage the gentle female to elaborate, switching his gaze between both the elder and his young ebony colored female companion. @stormfrost Hunter Moose @grizelda @celeste Mira

Stormfrost was quick to respond to the elder the second time she asked about the length of her stay in the Rocklands. It had seemed that none of the wolves around her had been there long, Stormfrost definitely having been around the longest by nearly a week. As Celeste's attention turned to Mira and Stormfrost's turned to Edon, Griz was left partnered up with the big beige softie, Moose. "So, how does one get 'Patty' from Grizelda?" at last, her favourite question was asked. It was always a curiosity how a name bearing no resemblance to her own had become a moniker for the aged she-wolf. Settling back onto her haunches, Griz's golden eyes sparkled with the pleasure of retelling the story. Sucking in a breath, she began, "Once I travelled with a large group of rogues, and all of them were just lovely. It's a pity that we ended up going separate ways. Anyway, I've been known to listen and be very patient with almost everyone, so one of the younger rogues in that group gave me the nickname 'Patty' as a shortened version of patience. It kinda stuck ever since then as a little memento of them." Her speech pattern was still slower than most, needing to take more breaths in between phrases due to her age, but all good things came with time. Patience was her virtue, and making sure that those around her could have a little bit of it was very important. Smiling back at Moose, the good-humoured old lady made a small joke, "I bet I know where your name came from Moosie." The little nickname rolled off her tongue easily, the grandmother aged wolf used to giving those around her fun monikers of their own. Hunter Moose Hunter Edon Mira @celeste @stormfrost

Mira listened attentively throughout the whole conversation. One of the older wolves who had remained silent, finally spoke up: "Might have picked up a trick or two on the way..." Mira smiled back softly, tail swishing. A question was tossed in Stormfrost's direction: So how long have you been in the rocklands again? I seemed to have missed it." "Not too long, actually. I've only been here for about four or five days." she began. "Before, I never stayed with a group of wolves for very long, I hope the Rocklands will be different for me. Would you like to sit next to me, Edon?" [/I] It was then Mira noticed the tawny male sitting some distance away from the group, still slightly edgy. She watched as the nervous one joined in their tiny gathering, afterwards explaining the backstory of his name. Edon. It is a nice name, had a really nice ring to it. "Are you close to your grandfather?" Mira inquired, not realising how sensitive of a question it was. She suddenly looked away, afraid that she had invaded something personal. "So what brought you here Mira? "Nothing much. Just exploring new areas, I guess, and maybe looking for some company. It's rough being alone out here." Mira shifted her gaze back to the ebony elder. @celeste Hunter Edon @stormfrost @grizelda Hunter Moose

Moose's amber eyes watched as Edon seemed to freeze a little bit at the question about the meaning of his name. he could tell without much effort that such an innocent question had stirred something from beneath the surface, bringing some memories back into a clear focus as they did sometimes. The large amber male had his fair share of memories resurface that way, at the sight of a clearing or the underbrush of a tree, often times he would remember his siblings or his parents, remembering them as they were, he missed them, but he could not dwell on those memories forever, now it was time to live his life on his own, starting here in the Rocklands with these fellow rogues. When he saw Grizelda settle back onto her haunches he turned his attention to her, his ears standing straight up to show his interest in her story. Her slow pace as she told her story seemed to relax him, then his tail wagged some as he humored her after she'd given him his own nickname from his rather short name, he decided to play along. "My name obviously comes from my huge antlers."He then let out a soft sigh, sitting on the ground with his tail laying flat "I liked your story about your nickname, seems very fitting for you." the large male said softly to the elder wolf, wanting her to know he respected her. @grizelda Hunter Edon Mira @celeste

The conversations floating around made chatting a bit sporadic, with questions and answers darting from one wolf to another. The older female nodded as she both listened and took note of each wolf, getting an idea of who was around her. She could see some wolves drawing into each other and it made her smile. It was so natural to look for company, but she was still a bit wary of it. She had loved and lost it all, a common story amongst wild wolves, but age made the idea of starting over a bit more daunting. Yet as she stood in the group she found herself longing for the bond of a pack again. As Mira turned to her, Celeste gave her a sympathetic look. “The days are longest when you wonder alone. I have spent my fair share of time traveling in isolation, but it’s always worth it when you find what you have been looking for.” She spoke with a lighter tone. “looking for a pack? Or just a partner?” Mira

Valencia"stay soft. it looks beautiful on you."
It had taken her a couple of gruelling days, but she had finally made it to the summit of the highest peak she could find. Winded, tired and completely ready to collapse, Valencia sat her oaken rump amongst the ivory white snow with a victorious huff, her warm breath curling against the cold air before being whisked away into the sky by a surprisingly gentle breeze. From here it felt like she could see the world. It was a very small world, with geological features that were hard to distinguish through the blanket of snow that seemed to stretch on for as far as the eye could see—but she could see what she had came for. The stretching plains of the Brush Lands that were nestled just below the expanse of the Rocklands, and the snowy hills of pack-lands that seemed incredibly inviting for a she-wolf like herself who was seeking the comfort of a more permanent family.
For the past few years of her life all Valencia had been doing was wandering with no purpose. She had met strangers, learnt their names and whatever else they may have offered to teach her. This was how Valencia had learnt to hunt, hide and heal. They were the three things that she was good at, though she would admit that her skills as a healer were incredibly basic and nothing worth bragging about. Although many good memories came attached with these encounters of friendly strangers, she was growing tired of having no where to call home. Valencia yearned for a family and a place to rest her head at night without having to fear what might cross the path of her sleeping body. It was from this mountain peak that she could see where she had to go; towards the pack lands where the wolves were able to thrive and live in peace. Peace, yet another thing she craved.
After she had caught her breath, Valencia gave herself a curt nod of approval, happy with the journey that she had laid out in front of herself. She didn't care how long it took her or if she met anybody along the way, but as long as she managed to make it to one of those packs and offer her services in any way that she could, she would be happy. Valencia rose to her feet with a newfound burst of energy, a slight smile gracing the corners of her lips as she gently shook the dusting of snow from her rump. It was excitement that brewed in her veins at the prospect of a new goal, yet these thoughts and that smile were all too quickly diminished as a howl broke through the crisp air and reached her rounded ears. Her body grew tense at the sound, worry soon replacing the excitement as she immediately thought the worse of the howl and the amassing scents that had found their way to her senses. Despite her fond memories of friendly strangers that she had met in the past, Valencia knew all to well that not everyone was as warm and as welcoming as she hoped them to be. So it was with caution that she poked her cranium over the ledge on which she stood, peering down with mocha coloured visions and scanning the land below her.
There. Not too far from her elevated position was a group beginning to form in the distance. She watched as they congregated. Two massive males, two older figures, a meek female that reminded Valencia of herself, and another ebony hued she-wolf. It was an interesting bunch. Judging from the relaxed atmosphere that seemed to settle over the gathering she could take a safe guess by saying that they didn't seem to be the aggressive type, which was enough to put a small sway into the tip of her tail as the prospect of new companions overwhelmed the bubbling fear that began to diminish in her chest.
It was without much more thought that she worked up the courage to make her way down the snowy slopes—only slipping on icy rocks a couple of times and somehow managing to stay upright the entire time—before she found herself trotting towards the group with a glowing smile gracing her round fuzzy cheeks. "Hi there, I'm Valencia. Sorry if I'm interrupting anything, I just heard your howl and couldn't stop myself from saying hello." She mused with her honey-like tones as she looked between the band of rogues that had gathered on the snowy hillside. What an interesting bunch indeed.

The cheery male seemed to enjoy the company of those around him, his tail waggling as the granny recounted her story. "My name obviously comes from my huge antlers," Moose joked back to her, a smile on yellowed teeth shining through silvering lips. The younger male was a cheeky little one, a refreshing spirit in the rocky land of ice. "I liked your story about your nickname, seems very fitting for you," his voice mellowed out, holding what came across as respect for the elderly she-wolf. As a small silence lapsed between the two wolves, Griz tuned in to Celeste's voice. The older female was someone that she hadn't fully talked to yet, but someone that she felt that she could bond with easily. Life experience would likely bring them together in time, and Griz is an expert at spending time. “The days are longest when you wander alone. I have spent my fair share of time travelling in isolation, but it’s always worth it when you find what you have been looking for. Looking for a pack? Or just a partner?” Celeste's question towards Mira would go unanswered by the fellow elder. The ashen she-wolf could empathize deeply with her words. Travelling alone suited some, but Griz was never one to enjoy her own company for too long. All of a sudden, the sound of skidding rocks caught her ears. The new sound and following scent struck the older female after a few seconds. Pivoting on her hind legs, gilded eyes caught sight of a fluffy form descending the hill above. The clearer scent of strawberries clung to the she-wolf's pelt as she drew closer, another sweet thing in the hostile environment. "Hi there, I'm Valencia. Sorry if I'm interrupting anything, I just heard your howl and couldn't stop myself from saying hello," the newest member of their party introduced herself. Griz took it upon herself to lumber over to this Valencia, a gentle smile on her elderly features. "Don't worry dear! You didn't interrupt anything, we were all just getting to know one another. I'm Grizelda, but call me Griz or Patty and I'll still respond. Currently, in our little band, we have Moose, Celeste, Mira, Edon, and Stormfrost," as the elderly she-wolf spoke, she gestured to each wolf as she said their name, "We've just been talking about any meaning behind our names and how long we've been in Rockland area. Want to hop in?" Walking back to the spot she had sat in before, she dearly hoped that Valencia would join them. She seemed to have such a sweet persona even just by her greeting. Watching as a small smile appeared on Grizelda's muzzle, Moose knew the first part of his clever little quip had landed as he had intended it to, sarcastic yet playful. He let the silence between them spread after the second part of what he'd said, hoping she had registered it as a respectful comment. His attention was then turned as he heard the sound of scuffling rocks and a new scent spread to his nose, strawberries? His amber gaze turned to see a pretty she wolf approaching them with a coat of ivory and soft browns, small in build but he could only think that she was a pretty sight on this rocky landscape. His large ginger tail wagged as Valencia received a warm welcome from Grizelda who he sat beside before she got up to greet her. "Don't worry dear! You didn't interrupt anything, we were all just getting to know one another. I'm Grizelda, but call me Griz or Patty and I'll still respond. Currently, in our little band, we have Moose, Celeste, Mira, Edon, and Stormfrost," When mentioned by name the large male gave her a soft nod of his head, his ears perked straight up to show confidence. He stayed comfortably still, sat beside Grizelda when she returned to her previous spot. His eyes then scanned the other rogues in their group before resting back on Valencia. "Yes, tell us your story if you want." he made sure to speak in a polite and gentle tone, wanting her to know she did not have to do anything, but he was curious and thought maybe the others were too. @grizelda Apprentice Valencia Hunter Edon @celeste Mira @stormfrost

"I'm sorry for your loss, StormFrost." Moose said, dipping his head.
StormFrost sighed, the memory of her parents drifting in and out of her head. "It's alright. I've been without them for a long time, and I suppose I've managed well on my own." Her heart suddenly ached for one of her kin, one she was sure was still alive. If only my brother were here. She ignored the saddening thought and instead focused her attention on Edon, who had not answered her question. Her fur grew hot as his gaze pierced her. Her strong instincts allowed her to pick up on other wolves' emotions and the general mood of the atmosphere, and waves of uncertainty and wariness flowed from the large male. He's probably not used to being around so many wolves. Maybe he just needs some time... StormFrost stretched, lowering her muscular shoulders to stretch her back before shifting back into a sitting position. She was glad to see that most of the wolves were friendly, and her mind processed each wolf as she looked at them. Griz's rasping but soothing voice held much wisdom from such a long life, Moose's voice revealed his energy and kindness, Mira was understanding and receptive, Celeste was old but wise, and Edon... well, she hadn't quite figured him out yet. But I refuse to give up. Ever since losing her parents and leaving her pack, she had felt the dark tide of loneliness washing over her with each passing day. She would not let it happen to her here. Her tail gave a slow wag as she sat with the others.

The considerable force that was Moose never seemed to find any problem with the rogues gathered around him. Even as Grizelda brought yet another new face towards their group, he was kind and friendly. The young male displayed all the characteristics of his age group, curious but still mature. Griz thought he was a lovely young wolf to be wandering out in these desolate lands. "Yes, tell us your story if you want," his curious nature poked through, prompting a smile onto Griz's face. What lovely company she had summoned! Valencia and Moose seemed to be the sweethearts, Mira was the student of Celeste and Grizelda as proclaimed by her desire to learn, and Edon and Stormfrost were still a bit mysterious. Now the elder wasn't as sharp as she used to be, but she could've sworn that the young ebony she-wolf had asked Edon about his name earlier. However, the next time the young wolf spoke, it was in response to Moose's earlier condolences. With an unknown emotion hidden deep within her lustrous golden eyes, the elder quizzically turned to face the she-wolf. While she was conversing with Moose, she had still picked up on Edon's voice responding to her, something about his grandfather being behind his naming. Stormfrost was a unique character. Usually one would respond to the conversation that they initiated, but maybe there was something going on behind her yellow eyes that had distracted her from the current world. She seemed to still be looking at Edon though, perhaps she had been so focused on focusing that she had missed the dialogue? Griz couldn't say, she didn't know what was running through the she-wolf's head. Giving Moose and Valencia a quick nod just to indicate a temporary absence from their conversation, the silvering elder lumbered over to Edon, a smile upon her snowy face. "Your grandfather must have been pretty great for your mother to name you after her own father. I'm sure that both of them would be proud of you if they could see you now," she reassured. She didn't know if anything had happened to his mother or grandfather, but without them standing right next to him, it was safe to say those words. He was still young, there was a chance that his grandfather was still alive. What a sight that would be, to see Edon Sr. and Edon Jr. in the same place! Of course there was the high likelihood that his grandfather had passed away, so maybe Griz would get to meet him when her own time came. Valencia"stay soft. it looks beautiful on you."
One of the lovely greyed she-wolves was the first to acknowledge her. Valencia couldn't help but sigh with relief as the elder approached with a gentle smile, it was a small detail to the stranger's features, but it was enough to make the small female feel comforted in the presence of so many unfamiliar faces. "Don't worry dear! You didn't interrupt anything, we were all just getting to know one another. I'm Grizelda, but call me Griz or Patty and I'll still respond. Currently, in our little band, we have Moose, Celeste, Mira, Edon, and Stormfrost," Grizelda was smart enough to gesture to each wolf as she announced their name, saving Valencia the hassle of having to try and match them to their owner. Her gaze followed as Griz called everyone out, repeating the names over in her head in an attempt to make the connections to the faces stick. "We've just been talking about any meaning behind our names and how long we've been in Rockland area. Want to hop in?" A smile burst across Valencia's rounded face as Griz invited her to join, an enthusiastic nod making the thick fur around her cranium bounce in a way that she had always found amusing. It was with little hesitation that she followed the she-wolf back to the group, being sure to send a warm smile to anyone who would look her way.
It was the male that she recognised as Moose that spoke to her first, his larger stature towering over her incredibly average frame while his tone was thankfully welcoming. "Yes, tell us your story if you want." Valencia's smile wobbled with hesitation at the mention of her 'story', which she could only assume meant her past. She lowered her rump to the ground next to Moose, snow crunching under her delicate weight. The memories of her past weren't great, and it was the wall that she had encased around some of her earliest memories that kept her from reliving it all. So she would only share what was relevant. "I've only been in the Rocklands for a couple of days," she admitted. "And I'm planning on making the trek to the pack lands sometime soon, I'm hoping to find a more permanent home within their ranks." Valencia nodded, looking towards Moose as he seemed to be the only one currently taking notice of her presence, as Grizelda had moved away to talk to the male who's name she remembered was Edon. The reason for this little assembly of wolves was a mystery to her, their purpose for standing around in the snow seemed to be centred around several conversations that were happening between the group. Her mocha visions blinked as she realised the slight chaos of it, and she wondered if there was any reason for her to stick around any longer than she had to if they were simply going to chat. It was a mature thought for the usually ditzy she-wolf to have, but it was her goal to arrive at the pack-lands that stirred her forward. She'd see where this encounter was leading before she made any decisions.
"Do you have any business in the Rocklands, or are you just passing through as well?" Valencia directed her question at the large male that sat beside her, not wanting to interrupt any of the other conversations that seemed to be accumulating as quickly as the frost on her rump.

StormFrost pricked her ears up at Edon's response. " If your grandfather was truly that strong, I believe that the name suits you well. You appear to be just as strong, if not stronger." StormFrost's ears drooped a bit as she remembered her own grandfather, RiverBane. He had died when she was nearly an adult from the same sickness that killed her mother. The only one she had not lost was her brother, CloudSpiral, yet he was likely worlds away. StormFrost noticed Griz looking at her, trying to read her emotions. StormFrost looked right at the elder she so respected, pain shining clearly in her golden eyes. She had lost so much in the couple of years she had been alive, and yet she still managed to push forward. @grizelda Hunter Moose Hunter Edon Mira @celeste Apprentice Valencia

The large male's amber gaze seemed to be occupied by Valencia's almost snowy form, he marveled at how much lighter her pelt was to his, partially entranced by her scent, he was more of a lover than a fighter and his young age did nothing to help that fact. "I'm just passing through as well, I was on the hunt for some food until I found this group." he answered before his ears twitched at the sound of Edons stomach giving a deep growl like the sound of a demon gnawing at him. A small smile spread on his maw and he stood up, ready to take action. "I think I'm going to get back to it, feel free to tag along, with more of us we can bring down something bigger than the game here." he suggested, tiring of the little animals he had been depending on, he was used to the large deer his pack would bring down frequently when they were alive. turning his large body, Moose began padding in the opposite direction he had came, taking point in his hunt off toward Sorelus Territory. -Exit The Rocklands-

Each conversation was directed to one wolf. With so many conversations going on, Mira was a little lost. Nonetheless, she was glad to hear some noise at least. She was washed with relief to find company. After travelling alone for days, she finally found a group of wolves. Mira watched as another wolf named Valencia, joined in the conversation. "Nice to meet you. I'm Mira." “The days are longest when you wonder alone. I have spent my fair share of time traveling in isolation, but it’s always worth it when you find what you have been looking for.” Among all the other small talks going on, Mira managed to catch what the elder said. It was deep, just like any advice someone experienced would say. Mira turned her gaze back to Celeste, and gave her a little nod, agreeing with what she said. Before she knew it, the elder tossed her another question: “looking for a pack? Or just a partner?” Mira had never really thought about it. A partner. She had never really thought about loving someone. "Well, I've always wanted to join Ferus. I've heard good things about that pack. Maybe I should give it a go some time?" Mira replied. "As for finding a partner, I don't know. I guess it would be nice to have one? How about you? Have you ever wanted to join a pack?"Mira didn't actually catch Moose's entire sentence: ""I think I'm going to get back to it, feel free to tag along, with more of us we can bring down something bigger than the game here." As the orangish-furred wolf made his exit, she was befuddled. Bigger game. It took Mira some time to realise that Moose was going somewhere else to hunt. "Count me in." With that, Mira began to trail behind the large male. She turned to see if the others were staying or going. Exit Rocklands Hunter Edon Apprentice Valencia @celeste @grizelda Hunter Moose @stormfrost

StormFrost watched as the ones she had hoped would become her friends turned to leave. She whimpered as she detected the Sorelus pack scent on Moose. "Moose, wait!" Her voice was a heart-wrenching cry. After getting to know these wolves she did not want to be alone again. "Moose! I...I want to come as well. Will you let me join you?" She had not lost hope for joining a pack, and now was her chance. Would she be accepted? She wasn't sure. She hadn't had any luck at all and did not want to separate from her companions.
