Hey guys! I have both exciting and maybe scary news, but please try to understand the main purpose here: Activity.
Exciting news first, of course.
Mini Events! A few members have already put their word in on mini events, and we're going to implement these very soon. As of right now, we are planning a game night, an IC event, and an OOC event.
You do not have to be affected by the fire the moment it ensues, if you choose to participate (October 1st will be the starting day), and there is no set date when the fire-spread will stop. We will all decide on that once everyone has finished their climactic scenes regarding the event.

Now, for the dreaded scary news. Activity rules. Last month, I implemented a temporary activity rule to get everyone posting. For the duration of the rule, TPR was crazy active. Even though it was stressful complying to the rules, we were all so happy to see members online chatting, posting, and having a good time. I'd like this vibe to exist all the time, not only when we're on the brink of inactivity. So, here are OFFICIAL rules that members are now required to follow.
One Post a Week
• Post once a week for EACH character. If you have a ton of characters, this will be a problem for you, but at the same time, if you have a ton of characters and aren't posting for each of them once a week, then you're the reason that TPR is inactive. I'm sorry to be blunt, but that's reality. A single character's activity, and especially lack thereof, affects everyone involved with that character, creating a massive chain of inactive characters just waiting on other people. That's how inactivity happens.
What Do I Do With All of My Characters Then...?
• If this is a problem for you, then it's your responsibility to fix it. I will not empathize with members who have created 100+ characters for the fun of it but can't handle the responsibility that comes with it. Adopt them out, kill them, delete them, whatever, just get rid of them. And I really will not emphasize with the "I have no muse" excuse. If that's the case, delete the character. If you need to get rid of all of them, then you've got to ):
I Don't Really Have a Lot of Characters, but Posting Once a Week Doesn't Fit in my Schedule.
• Whether you have 1 character or 50, if posting once a week for each character will never work for you, then you need to reconsider membership here. OR, don't put your characters in any active groups. If you can't be active on TPR, you're not going to be able to RP with other people who are active. With this being said, if an inactive member asks to be a part of your active groups, I encourage you to decline. Correspondingly, if you're an inactive member, don't be selfish by entering an active group.
I'm Waiting on Someone Else
• If you can't post because another character hasn't posted in the week, you are STILL required to post. In this case, you MAY double post. Leave the scene, or begin posting between yourself and another active member within the group. This is when bunny-hopping becomes acceptable. I suggest you PM someone if you've been waiting for a few days, for your sake and theirs. "I'm waiting on so-and-so" is no longer an excuse for inactivity. You will be marked as inactive. In fact, ALL members in a group that hasn't had any posts in 7 days will be marked as inactive.
Consequences for Inactivity
• Now, this is when I get scary, and I'm really sorry. I really am. I don't like having to be the police around here, but it's part of my job as your site owner and I have to set a good example for my staff and members. If I don't enforce my own rules, then I'm not a good leader, am I?
• I would like to note that inactivity is character-based, not member-based. For example, if you have 2 characters and only one of them is inactive, only that character is subject to consequences.
• I would also like to note that if you're not posting IC but are posting OOC, you are still subject to consequences. In fact, this is a bit worse. This means you're logging in on the site for fun but ignoring your responsibilities.
Inactive for 7 Days1
• After 7 days of 0 IC posts (remember, OOC posts don't count) you will be marked as inactive. Once marked, you will receive a friendly PM to which you will have 3 days to respond. You can either respond that you are busy and give us a timeframe of absence, or you can post. Do not be afraid to say, "hey, I'm so busy right now. I'll start again on Wednesday, but until then I've gotta do some things irl." That's totally fine!
• If you don't respond within 3 days, you will receive a less friendly email. Again, you will have 3 days to respond with an exemption request or confirmation that you will post soon.
• After those 6 days, if we haven't received a response, you'll be deleted.
Inactive for 14 Days
• Deletion.
Furlough Non-Exceptions
• Please post in the Furlough if you will be absent for 7 or more days. If you give us a specific end date to your absence but are still absent after 3 days of your given return-date, you will be put through the 1 process.
Frequent Inactivity Warnings
• As opposed to the note I put in my temporary activity rule before, you will never be deleted just because you've gotten multiple activity warnings. Instead, you will be pulled from any plots you tend to hold up, and/or you will be removed from packs. In addition, staff retain the right to deny your future applications if we believe you're not active enough to handle a new character.
Exceptions
• Members who have posted in the Furlough or have contacted me personally about a foreseen absence, as always, are exempt from activity as long as they're in their range of duration.
• Staff accounts will not be subject to consequences as long they are doing their OOC staff duties because they need these accounts in order to do their jobs. However, a staff member's non-staff accounts are 100% subject to all consequences.
• At the same time, a staff member should be demoted if they cannot keep up IC. It's our job to set examples.
* * * * *
The rules above will be added to the homesite. I will give everyone 7 days to consider, plan, delete characters, put them up for adoption, etc... before I begin the 1 process. From that point on, these rules will be permanent.
Exciting news first, of course.
Mini Events! A few members have already put their word in on mini events, and we're going to implement these very soon. As of right now, we are planning a game night, an IC event, and an OOC event.
- I'll make a thread regarding this: I'll be asking members what day for a game night works best. I'm thinking Monday since that should be a holiday for almost everyone here. It's up to you. You'll be able to put in your available days in the thread and we'll all decide on a date. Don't worry if you can't make the game night; there will be more, and hopefully very often!
- A sitewide IC event is coming to TPR. I'm disclosing it now so that you can begin planning ahead: There will be a wildfire spanning across the entire map. You are NOT required to participate, but each and every member/RP group is allowed to participate freely. For example, you may be present in the Muddy Pines thread and would like to be affected by the fire, while somebody else in the Muddy Pines thread may choose not to be affected. As long as you are not roleplaying together, you can make separate decisions regardless of the thread you're in. However, groups such as packs or rogue groups must agree whether or not they want their group to be affected. Thank you @mochi for this idea!
[/ul][/div]
- Shop sale! Everything in the shop is 50% off! We are also open to adding new items. Please PM me or respond to the PM that Vi sent out if you have ideas! The sale will end on September 15th.
- After the sale, on September 16th, we will be implementing a brand new OOC event, the FLEA MARKET! - I thought this was a little punny haha. This idea was brought to you by @wiggles ! Members will be able to create their own threads, title them as they wish, and create their own shops. You can sell any of your items you've purchased or earned from the shop or from events at any price. You can even buy an item from someone's personal shop and sell it in your own shop (; You can make special deals and offers, like "buy one get one free," and other members will comment in your threads what they'd like to buy. Staff will do the transactions, and whatever members pay will go directly into the shop owner's account. Fun! I'm not sure how long it will last (I'm thinking after the Halloween event in case anyone wants to sell their prizes), but this mini-event will occur multiple times throughout each year.
