| The steads of the the wolves swirled in unseen currents beneath their attentive faces. In what seemed like a thousand-wolf crew working together like a colony to protect their packmate, there wasn't a single expression of doubt. Luke's wolves knew exactly what they were doing and how to do it. Eureka recalled her awe as an amber salutary dashed across the terrain from point A all the way to point Z in a matter of minutes like she'd done it a thousand times before. She pried her eyes off of the alabaster beta only to flicker to Luke as she, within only minutes on his territory, figured out who he was as an alpha.
Just like mother.
As an alphess growing accustomed, she looked up to her brother as a leading example besides her mother and Azaelia. All she'd ever known was Somnus, thus she was a Somnus alphess and solely that. But she wished to be more. Leaving the pack for the rest of the world was no longer an option for the obliged little wolf--so, perhaps she could bring the rest of the world to Somnus. New ideas, new methods, new wolves, new ways; Eureka was determined to bring it all!
She followed eagerly behind her brothers, feeling weak as she yearned for the strength to help in any way she could, but feeling so proud and ready to breathe new air in a new land.

"He'll be okay, wont he?" the ebony inquired. The small orange fireball peered up with her with a reassuring smile, she didn't want to worry the superior, especially as this was probably her first time dealing with a pack member like this. “Whatever you need, Hoshi, I’m at your disposal.” Seven spoke again and Hoshi's fluffy tail wagged behind her. "Thank you Alphess, I really appreciate it." the smaller chirped with a tilted head and genuine smile. Yes, she really liked Seven, she was as kind as she was pretty! And the little star definitely wanted to be friends with her.... Preferably at a better time when the Beta was not passed out and bleeding. Hoshi watched with wide golden eyes as the two large males pulled the alabaster giant up off the ground. It was really rather incredible. Hoshi was barely even half the size of the two males and she watched with relief as they slowly put the Beta into a position that wouldn't hurt him. The Alpha gave a small smile to the females before speaking. "Let's head back to the commons," and in response, the Salutary gave a firm nod of her head in acknowledgement. "I'll steer us in the right direction, just make sure we don't tear him in half." The Alpha spoke to his new company and Hoshi's ear flickered in recoil, cringing at the thought of a pulled apart lupine. As they made their way back to the commons, Hoshi would do little things to help out, such as not let Zero's tail flop and drag on the ground too much, or collect little herbs and plants in her mouth for potential use later. Whatever the case, hopefully with the Beta constantly medicated, he would recover in the seasons to come, for now, he just needed a good rest. The Delta was close to her height, and was therefore easy to give a gentle nudge to Yoki's shoulder. "He'll be alright," she spoke calmly, her voice made out to be as soothing as she could muster. "In the mean time, how about you? We'll get you examined when we're back home, hm?" she chirruped, a little playfully, her big eyes turning into crescent shapes as she smiled .: Exit to Commons :.

| Seven had stood at her mate’s side in something of a daze as Zero’s broken body was heaved from the earth by the pair of males - Luke and the still-unnamed stranger. A soft murmur of “Let’s head back to the commons,” had sent them on their way through the brush. As a group they padded forth, with Hoshi darting to and fro to check on the alabaster brute as he was carried along. Yoki, too, was attentive for obvious reasons. The raven alphess’s heart went out to the younger female; it must have been a terrible shock for her to have found her mate in such a wretched state.
The ebony bitch prowled along, her attention flicking from their surroundings to Luke to Hoshi and back again, should she be needed for any reason. Her hammering heart beat out a prayer that Zero would make it, terrible thoughts of what might become of her friend pounding through her head in time with her each and every step. For now, all she could do was wait and hope that he could recover.

Earthly substances were shaken gently off his large paws as he greeted the borders of Noctis. In the months he had been traveling, the brute had more than determined that a rogue lifestyle was not for him. Things were so unpredictable, and while the freedom was exhilarating, there was no structure to his activities and no hierarchy to determine his position against others. No, it seemed Chance had gotten into more spars then when he was the general in his birth pack. The brute had developed new scars and, to his benefit, learned of new techniques that the rogues were more accustomed to in battle. Regardless, we wasn't sure if it was unneeded in a new pack. The biggest culture shock would be settling to a new dynamic. All Chance new for the majority of his life was his birth pack, though he was ready for some change. Change that didn't include his ditsy mother, his shy sister Niska, or his father who he had hardly talked to anyways. Even better, he didn't have to deal with that bitch-of-a beta in his old pack. Chance merely frowned at the fact that he could very well meet new wolves exactly like them here, but it was a risk he would take.
Without much routine, the large brute found himself traveling from rogue to rogue for information instead. He wasn't familiar with the area, so he had acquired word of the packs that resided beyond the mountains. What had taken some time was for him to determine what would be the best fit for him and his interests. Ferus had originally stuck as interesting, but the pepper-coated male knew he couldn't just hurt innocent wolves on command. He had also assumed the wolves probably lacked many hospitable social skills like he had, more likely to appear bleak and taciturn - or mentally disturbed. Lubrusca simply sounded too kind and open for Chance, and Somnus, well they were his second choice. If he wasn't accepted here then he would move on to Somnus, however Chance remained fairly confident that he appeared useful enough. While many rogues would make their presence know immediately , Chance had become distracted momentarily. The bulky male curiously sniffed at the ground, trailing along the border through the trees. He felt his fur raise in uncertainty, not used to feeling so small. Chance reminded himself of how low he would be to these pack members before throwing his cranium back in a gracious low howl. For now, he would have to shake away his dominance, no matter how much he was against it. Chance took a seat comfortably in the grass, ears and eyes watchful for any form of movement around him. Given that anyone approached, Chance would flick his tail calmly around him and offer a small, subtle smile before dipping his head in respect, bar how uncomfortable it felt.

Brown eyes turn upward as a light snow begins to fall, coating the grass underfoot in a thin layer of white. It was well and truly winter, now, and Ladislava feels right at home, thick coat finally being put to good use. Hanging from her jaws is a rabbit long dead, and with every step she can feel its blood pooling on her tongue. Mouthwatering for certain, but the prey was not for her - it had been tradition in her family to present gifts when asking for favors, and she was certainly about to ask a large one. Tail flicking thoughtfully, she quickens as the smell of wolves overpowers that of meat; it would seem she had arrived at the border. A low howl sends her ears to twitching, head cocking to the side as she tries to pinpoint its location. A pack wolf, perhaps? She could not tell, but it would definitely be convenient if it was. Turning in that direction, she blinks as a pepper-coated male comes into view - facing the territory she wished to enter. She feels a sharp pang of disappointment; must be another rogue. All the same, company would be welcome after long months of lonely travel. Striding over to his side, she takes a seat a respectable distance away, taking a moment to paw away at the snow so that the rabbit would not freeze over when she sets it down. Pausing to release a howl of her own - sharp, piercing, like wind through crags - she turns inquisitive eyes towards this stranger. Offering an olive branch, she utters: “You are the one that howled, ja? I must ask, what do you know of these wolves? My experience with packs is....limited.” The vowels sit heavy on her tongue, accent thick as she hunts for the correct words. It takes a moment to turn her expression from something neutral to something friendly. Even after the time she spent with her deceased teacher, mutter’s proclamations of superiority weigh heavy on her mind. She is well and truly better than she was before, she knows, but at times she could not help but let discrimination color her view. The cinnamon furred lupess certainly did not want such mental barriers between her and a potential pack mate, however, so she musters up a smile. “I am Ladislava, though I find that those who speak your tongue have an easier time with Lava. I would accept either.”

Tentative ears swirled toward the sudden approach, his eyes finding a female rogue still quite a few meters away. To him she was quite small, like a honey colored mouse as she gingerly took a seat near him. Then, he found many smaller than himself at his large size. Chance studied the lupine, ignoring the fact that he was staring quite rudely. With a rather plain feminine build, Chance didn't find her as a threat. Additionally, bar her straight face as she howled, her body language showed no sign of hostility. She was pretty, but Chance didn't particularly care about that. Even at 3 and a half years, he had not even developed a 'crush' on any wolf. He had much more important things to do.
The brute blinked casually as he turned away from her, proceeding to study the forest and snow once again. “You are the one that howled, ja? I must ask, what do you know of these wolves? My experience with packs is....limited.” she began, though Chance made no move to look at her again. Her accent was rough and peculiar, but he still found it fairly easy to understand. He nodded slowly in regards to her first question. After a short pause, the male listening to the still air, he again turned to her and offered a small kind smile. " I don't know much about Noctis, unfortunately. I have heard that they are looking more for a wolf of use," the charming brute got up for a moment, stretching his paws out infront of him before continuing. " In other words, pups and/or disabled wolves are more likely to be turned away. But you look like you have nothing to worry about." Chance grinned before sitting down once again. The she-wolf introducing herself as.... Ladislava? Even after repeating the name in his head a few times he couldn't imagine he would ever say it correctly. "Ok, Lava. Nice to meet you, i'm Chance." he smiled once again.

This brute seemed quite the casual thing; she can remember a time when whenever one spoke, pointed eye contact was made - though she supposed in casual interactions dominance games were unnecessary. Not that the lupess was interested in any such thing. For one, he was clearly larger than her, and seemed comfortable with himself. She was no fool, any fight with the wolf would be a fight she would likely lose. Ladislava knew better than to raise tail and bare teeth just for the sake of it, anyways. That was not how one stayed in one piece - just look at her mother.
Pups and disabled wolves are more likely to be turned away. But you look like you have nothing to worry about. She barks out a short laugh. “It is a compliment, to not look crippled or puppish, no? Such high praise.” A healthy mix of sarcasm intermingled with teasing tones display that no harm is meant with the comment. Eyeing him critically, she abruptly shakes her head, dislodging snowflakes from her mane-like ruff. “We shall both be of use, I think - you are large, heavy. A fighter, ja? I will help patch you up afterwards, if Noctis accepts us so.” It couldn’t hurt, to let him know that she is primarily a healer. Many find the fact relaxing, thinking her quicker to use her herbs than teeth - sometimes correct, sometimes not.
For a few moments, the she-wolf contemplates his name. Chance? She could not seem to grasp the exact meaning, words slipping through her brain in an attempt to connect two languages. “The closest word to chance in my tongue is riskant, risky. Are you a risk taker?” Tapered ears flatten briefly as a cool wind rushes past, tickling the sensitive fur. She hoped this Chance did not mind her questions. It helped her, to hold conversations. Good practice for fluency, her teacher had always said.

The she-wolf showed signs of sarcasm also, it seemed, and Chance couldn't help but chuckle to himself as she spoke. While his aspects where a bit more obvious, the brute couldn't quite determine what this females strong-suit was. She merely had an average build, signifying that she did not practice any one subject. Perhaps she would be made a scout or hunter, then. “We shall both be of use, I think - you are large, heavy. A fighter, ja? I will help patch you up afterwards, if Noctis accepts us so.” she would continue. A fighter..? No no.. Chance shook his head slightly, glancing upward in disbelief. Obviously thats what he looked like, and what was frustrating was that it would be the best idea to call himself more of a well-rounded wolf; a leader. What was worse was that he could very well be given a lower rank than what he was used to in his old pack.
Besides that, Chance perked his ears in realization. Lava was a healer, and that alone would give her a spot in Noctis paired with a good personality. There was another moment of silence. The air settled gently once again, brief chills rushing spast and spraying him with sparkling snow. “The closest word to chance in my tongue is riskant, risky. Are you a risk taker?” Lava's accent pierced the air as he turned to her. Chance cocked a brow at her inquisitively. "Risk taker? No, I wouldn't think of it like that. I generally mind my own business unless someone threatens me," he would state calmly. "And what about you? What are you like? I'd guess opportunistic."

Naledi padded across the soft grass, taking in the sights and smells. She had never been here before, she didn't even know where here was, but her want for companionship brought her. The young she-wolf could tell she was at a border for a pack. What pack, however, was unknown to her. What are they like? Naledi wondered. She had come all this way to find someone, anyone to accept her, what if they didn't? She knew she would have to move on if they didn't, there was nothing she could do if they chased her away. The she-wolf sighed and laid herself down. The anxiety of meeting the pack overwhelmed her. Had she come all this way to not even try? No, she decided, Naledi would do everything it takes to not be alone anymore, even if that means risking her life. She raised the top half of her body, now in a sitting position. Her head titled back and she let out a long, anxious howl. Alpha Luke

A risk taker? No...I generally mind my own business unless someone threatens me. “A wise sentiment.” She utters crisply, if not a tad absently, thoughts against drifting to her deceased mother. She often thought of the elder lupess when judging her own actions, as though her late mother was a prime example of what not to do. To be fair, though, she rather was. Blinking rapidly to clear flakes from her lashes, the thick-furred bitch settles her body against the fresh snow, a light shiver rolling down her spine as she adjusts. Hopefully one of these Noctis wolves would acknowledge their presence soon, before the both of them became ice sculptures amongst the frost. And what about you? What are you like? I’d guess opportunistic.
She chuckles, brown eyes thoughtful as she considers the...analyzation? Was this a word? “If you could introduce me to any living izgoy - ah, excuse me, rogue - that is not opportunistic, I would be surprised.” She snorts inelegantly. “I find that if you do not take every opportunity presented, you end up starving and weak. Life is not kind to the loner.” Her smile is sharp as knives. “So yes, I suppose I am opportunistic.” Tapered ears perk and twitch as a shaky howl pierces the winter air, and her head cocks as she tries to pinpoint the source. “It would seem these borders are rather popular.” She frowns. Would there be a competition, to determine who was worthy? Or was this pack’s acceptance system a kinder thing?

| Upon approaching the borders, he caught a slew of faint scents running across the strong Noctis smell that ran along the borders his pack had established. It was expected that some would pass through here, using borders as a place to reside and hide from those that were trying to hunt them down. The rogue lands were still unknown to Luke, and he thought they were still harsher than they actually were. But growing up in the safety of a pack, he wasn’t sure what lay beyond the borders. The closest he had been was when they had gone searching for Ocean, but that had been almost nothing compared to what he knew was out there. He was glad that good wolves often sought refuge in his pack. Well… Most of them were good. Luke found himself drawing back to the thought of Zero, how the male had taken a downward spiral soon after Luke had promoted him. He thought that maybe he had made the right decision, but the male had manipulated him, and used him to have a place in the pack that meant something. The male had used Luke, and he felt himself shudder at the thought of the white beast that had disappeared from the territory, only to come back bloodied. Zero had passed away soon after returning to the commons, Yoki following shortly with after the birth of their children. Without a mother to nurse them, Luke could do nothing but watch the two pups die as well.
Shaking his head, he knew that these thoughts were not good to have running through his head. Flicking his tail behind him, accidentally brushing it against Wren’s hind leg in the process, the male grew embarrassed, a rush of heat running towards his face and onto his cheeks as he acted as if nothing had happened. Hopefully she hadn’t noticed the accidental touch. Giving a glance ahead, that had a little bit before they would approach the scent of the wolf that was waiting. They were following it through the foliage, so they would come up on the wolf shortly and greet her. But he was going to enjoy walking with the she-wolf beside him. She was a naturally welcoming presence, and was definitely someone that he could wholeheartedly trust. Lost in his thought, he found himself staring at her, dark cranberry eyes studying the she-wolf that had presumably not noticed that he had been staring at her. Lost in her beauty, he found himself not watching where he was going. He knew the territory like the back of his paw, but he seemed to have forgotten that there was a root coming up that stuck a little too far out of the ground. Feeling his paw snare, the male went crashing forward, head hitting the ground as he tumbled. The fall was not damaging at all, but simply just embarrassing. Bringing himself to his paws quickly, he shook his pelt and started heading off at a faster pace, not sure whether or not the female was keeping up.
How could he embarrass himself in front her like that? She surely was laughing at him right now. If not vocal, she would be laughing at him within her own conscious, not letting him think that she was indeed amused by his actions. Bringing them to the border finally, he brought his nose to the ground, trying not to appear too embarrassed in front of Wren. The scent of the wolf was faint, but they were nearby. Trotting along the outskirts of their borders, the scent started to pick up as they moved along, soon coming up on the area that it was strongest. He couldn’t quite see the she-wolf that was present, but he knew that if he addressed her, she would surely come. “I know you’re out there, make your presence known,” He called out, looking back at Wren, bringing himself back to her side, he brought his muzzle to her ear, albeit a little too close. “Keep an eye out, this might be an ambush,” He spoke to her softly, ears alert as he waited for the she-wolf at their borders to make herself known.

WORK CAN BE FUN IF YOU LAUGH A LITTLE
The borders during winter were something relatively new to the Beta. As a hunter, she had remained within the commons and the hunting grounds through most of the seasons. One of the only times she was actually at the borders was when she got accepted all those months ago. So long had passed since then, so many faces had come and gone, tragedy, miracles, love, splits; Noctis had truly evolved since she had lingered in the borders last. The air was crisp, pleasant despite the lowered temperature. Though the landscape was buried in a thick white blanket, there was a beauty in the monotony.
A small feeling on the back of her legs halted her for a millisecond, her breath stalling in her throat. Luke carried on ahead with his tail quickly flicking to the other side of his body. Why had that simple touch affected her so much? It was an accident, nothing more nothing less. Yet, it sent a shock through her system. She shouldn't be feeling like this. Luke's ex-mate was only a few hundred meters away in the commons nursing his pups, the heat passing from her hindlimb up her body shouldn't exist. Softly sucking in a deep breath, the Beta carried on walking, trying to shove the bubbling feelings to the back of her mind.
A burning gaze heated her face, but the cream she-wolf forced herself to keep looking forward. Swallowing nervously, Wren tried to keep her breathing steady as oddly coloured cranberries blinked through her peripheral vision. Perhaps he felt the same as she did? Like there was some sort of forbidden force between them that was drawing them closer? Either way, the stretched seconds came to an abrupt stop when the oaken male beside her stumbled over a hidden object in the snow.
At first, the huntress was relieved that she could breathe again at the breaking of his powerful stare, but as he began to walk away quickly, snow clinging to the front of his pelt Wren couldn't help but let a giggle out of her system. This small chime-like sound grew slightly, a few rolling laughs leaving her as she trotted to catch up to the embarrassed male. Playfully, she nudged his side with her shoulder. Just to reassure him that she wasn't laughing at him, rather with him even if he wasn't laughing.
The pair continued to the outskirts, both of them scenting the ground and following it to where the one odd scent was strongest."I know you're out there, make your presence known," Luke's strong tones echoed through the trees, sure to gather the rogue's attention, "Keep an eye out, this could be an ambush." Hot breath against her ear made the Beta shy away slightly. It was something so small but at the same time something so intimate between the two of them. Collecting herself quickly, Wren took a small step away from Luke to look out for any possible signs of an ambush. It wasn't far enough for either of the wolves to be out of reach of one another, but it was enough to look professional for when the pair would have to address the rogue. 531 Words

Ladislava was a relatively patient being - and good thing, too. Chance, her temporary companion at these borders, had long since moved on as no one had showed up in days. Then, the days kept creeping and creeping. To be truthful, the blonde wolf had stayed merely because the idea of leaving held no appeal. Why hunt and wait out the cold in rogue lands, when she could hunt and wait out the cold with the added benefit of encountering pack wolves? It was only logical to stay. She was currently bundled in a makeshift den, a groove dug out in the snow to block her from the harshest of winds. All that remained of her original gift was bones, as it would be waste to let it turn to carrion. It had sustained her, along with a few others - though the remains were buried. As morning light glints harshly off of the pristine snow, she opens sharp brown eyes and surveys her surroundings. Judging by the increasingly strong scent of wolf, she had visitors. Finally.I know you’re out there, make your presence known. A male voice calls, and she cannot help the instinctual grimace as she rises and shakes ice out of her fur. She supposes she should have resigned herself to patriarchy, yet it was still a disappointment. However, as she emerges from behind the thick brush, she visibly perks up at the sight of this wolf’s female companion. “Ah, you are the alpha pair? You appear close, at least, strong bonds mean strong pack, no?” Her accent is thick as she surveys the two, pleased that there were clearly females in power as well. After all, one would not send an omega to confront strangers - she had to be important. And what a nice pair they made as well! “I am Ladislava, but if it is easier for you to vyslo- ah, pronounce, Lava is also good.” She nods firmly. “I have come to see if your pack is open to new wolves. I can heal, and hunt - useful in winter seasons, ja?” She does not smile or simper, cutting straight to the chase with blunt words and an equally blunt stare. She is respectful, of course, but to grovel was not her way. Perhaps they would appreciate this, perhaps not. Either way, she would soon find out. Alphess Wren Alpha Luke

WORK CAN BE FUN IF YOU LAUGH A LITTLE
Luke's powerful call was met with only one response. Though the stale scent of another rogue lingered around the borders, it was clear that he had left long before. The remaining approaching scent was more than worthy of meeting with the Alpha and Beta of the pack for her perseverance. She approached alone, no addition scents clinging to her own unique brand. The Bet couldn't quite put her paw down on what the rogue's scent reminded her of, but it was vaguely familiar.
The superior female offered the other female a small nod of her head, a silent but polite greeting while the rogue's eyes flicked between the pair. “Ah, you are the alpha pair? You appear close, at least, strong bonds mean strong pack, no?” Wren blanched. Heat flushed to her face at the rogue's words. Did it seem like she and Luke were a pair? Were they standing that close? Acting like a couple? Was her concealed crush on her Alpha that obvious? Before she could stutter out a correction to the rogue, she began speaking again, “I am Ladislava, but if it is easier for you to vyslo- ah, pronounce, Lava is also good. I have come to see if your pack is open to new wolves. I can heal, and hunt - useful in winter seasons, ja?”
Her accent was thick; she was obviously from somewhere inconceivably far away. It was understandable, but the Beta was curious just what language was infiltrating her speech. Her stumbled composure from Lava's earlier speech had regained itself quickly, her stance returning to that of a Beta and not some love-struck sap who was just outed (despite that being exactly what had happened). Amber eyes refocused on the cream female, her name rolling through her mind in an attempt to pronounce it fully as the she-wolf had. It didn't have the same rolling accent, the same regality that it had when it came from Lava's mouth, but it was presentable enough.
"Greetings, Ladislava. I'm Wren, the Beta of Noctis. Your skills in hunting and healing would be greatly appreciated, but I'll be leaving the ultimate decision to my Alpha," the blanketed she-wolf gently gestured her head towards the male standing not far from her. With her inner turmoil, it felt odd having the words 'my Alpha' slip from her lips. It was as if she were claiming him, proclaiming not as the Alpha of Noctis but as her own. Pushing such thoughts away from her mind, Wren focused her attention back on Luke and Ladislava; the pair's conversation was more important than her own feelings.

| Luke was glad that Wren didn’t seem to laugh too much at the fact that he had tripped, and was relieved to know that the female wouldn’t make fun of him for it. His cranberry gaze focused on the area in front of them as the rogue appeared, but his mind was somewhere else. How he had whispered in Wren’s ear, their closeness causing her to shy away. He wondered why that was. Looking towards the new female that presented herself, she mentioned an Alpha pair. It took Luke’s mind a couple of seconds to actually click with what she was saying. But when it did, he could feel his tail twitching nervously. He had never thought that their actions made it seem like they were mates. Was his liking for her that obvious? He had an ex-mate and pups in the pack already, and it felt as if he had moved on too quickly, but he couldn’t help his attraction to his Beta. Shifting a little, embarrassed to say the least, he looked towards Wren as she addressed the she-wolf. Bringing the attention back to him, he positioned himself higher than Wren and looked at the female standing at their borders. "My name is Luke, I am the Alpha of Noctis," He stated his name plainly, looking over her.
“You’ll have to demonstrate your talents for me to keep you in this pack, but consider yourself a Noctis member,” He said, looking towards her, cranberry eyes taking a look over her as he said this. “However, if you do not prove to me that you’re worthy of staying in my pack, you will find yourself once again in this position,” He remarked, looking at where she was currently standing. “Although it might not be as friendly,” His tail swept behind him as he motioned for her to walk across the borders, the first invitation into his pack and the territory that she would soon call home. “We have a Salutary named Hoshi, you will work alongside her as a simple Omega until I see your skills in action. By then, I will decide whether you’re deserving of the Salutary rank or not,” He turned his attention away from the she-wolf, and back to Wren, seeing if she agreed with what he said. She would more than likely back up his decision, as they needed more strong and capable wolves that knew what they were doing.
Turning his back to the rogue, he swept his tail next to Wren’s flank lightly, motioning for them to head back to the common grounds where their new member would meet her new packmates. Luke didn’t usually take in wolves in the winter, but having another Salutary in case something went wrong in the pack was always a bonus.
