Being a bog, although the water here is safe to drink, it is of a brown color, smells unpleasant, and tastes bitter. The area is damp and rather ominous as a result of the constant fog, and wolves prefer to stay away from the muddy terrain. Moose and deer, however, often pass through this area though. It is nearly impossible to make a kill with the combined forces of hindered sight and limited maneuverability. Even so, it is a good sanctuary for one on the run, given that they are familiar with the terrain as it is easy for one to become lost. The walk had taken about a couple of hours to complete, but Zack was already used to it. The weight addition that Tam represented was almost inconsequential, the difficult part was balancing the small, asleep body on his back. But sure enough, they both had gotten there, safe and sound. Feeling the soft breeze speed through his fur, letting the mist cloud his vision, the warrior took a well deserved breather. Looking around the place, he directed himself to a nearby tree, just a few feet away from the lake. Looking up, Zachariah appreciated the view, realizing that few things had changed since his last visit. "Despite all the shit that goes around here, you won't ever leave, will you?". A small chuckle left his mouth, as he sat on the dark grass, rolling a tad slowly, so that the delicate pup would fall from his back without getting hurt. Things must have really gone south for ya to be talking to a tree, Zachariah. Using the tree trunk to support his body, the grown male sighed. In a span of a day, his world had been turned upside down. It really seemed that everything that could go wrong had in fact done exactly that, but with no time lapse in-between. Like they had arranged shit to hit the fan on the same date. Alright, let's make a recount. You fucked things up with Sasha, she probably won't want to see you or talk with you again, at least not in the same way. You weren't there for your pack when they needed you, the Beta and Aedion are dead now, our Alphess is really broken down now too, go figure when she'll move on from this. Hell, go figure when we all will. Glancing at the kid, who was sleeping peacefully on some pile of grass, the warrior looked on with sadness. Kid's probably on that same state too. But who could even blame him at this point? Also, go figure where the Alpha even is. That girl Vera said something of playing catch with his sister or something?. Noticing his own eyes beginning to close on their own, the Eurasian stood up rapidly. Picking up Tam with his teeth, Zachariah relocated the pup on his own spot. Once that was done, the warrior just let his own body fall onto the cold green beneath him, taking one last glance at the pup before closing his eyes. Fuck, I really need some shut-eye. If this kid ain't here by morning I swear to fuckin' god... Warrior Tamlin

Deep in his slumber, Tamlin tried to erase the memories of the day. His dream realm was where he was supposed to find solace, peace, wonder even. Where he could wander with no limitations. Where he was free. However, lost within the recesses of his mind, this sleep was anything but peaceful. In the darkness of his memories, nightmares haunted him. The first demon to infect his sleep was his sister, screaming in agony as she was trampled by a herd of deer or attacked by some predator. Either way, her disfigured, broken, and bloody body crawled towards him, begging him to help her, pleading for mercy from the pain. A disfigured voice hissed threats to him, a memory of his mother locked far behind anything he could think of. How she had left because he was disappointing. How she had left because she didn't love him or his siblings, and now look where they were. Ghosts of a father he never had and uncles that had left him just as his mother did. It was odd, the feeling of being so surrounded by wolves and yet so very alone. The target of ridicule by all those that he had failed in his short life. The last one to join him was Aedion. A sopping wet tan frame just looking at him blankly. Disappointed. As Tamlin opened his mouth to try to sputter out an apology, Aedion just melted into a puddle. He just disappeared right in front of him. All the while, Tamlin's sleeping frame twitched through his nightmare on top of Zachariah's back. He stirred slightly as Zach set him onto the grass, glad for the wake-up, no matter how gentle it was. He didn't want to stay in that dream any longer. Gingerly, he opened tear crusted eyes to see where this sanctuary was. At first, the environment seemed eerie, as if it wasn't actually a part of Noctis territory. It seemed too dark to be a part of such a neutral pack. But soon the beauty of the lake shone through. The sun glinting off the mist and the water if it reached through the fog created crystals of light in the air. The lake itself held such calmness, such serenity. Slowly shifted half clenched eyes over to Zach, the teen silently thanked the male for bringing him here. Taking him away from the commons, away from the river, away from the commotion to somewhere still. Somewhere that had a climate of its own that enveloped him entirely. He fell still again as Zach gripped his scruff and dragged him a short distance over to somewhere he didn't know. As long as it was still around the lake he was fine. He heard Zach's frame his the earth before it fell still soon after. Finally opening his eyes once more, Tamlin slowly rose to his paws and walked the short distance over to where Zach lie. He didn't want to be alone. Although he had spent the past however long glued to the male's back, he didn't want to be left in the reeds to sleep. The younger male set himself down behind Zachariah, resting his heavy head on the auburn male's flank before closing his eyes again. Hopefully he either would have a pleasant dream, or wouldn't dream at all. The latter seemed to be more preferable. Paladin Zachariah

THIS IS A POST FOR ZACHARIAH THAT HE ASKED ME TO POST FOR HIM BECAUSE HE COULDN'T POST IT AT THE TIME After he drifted out of consciousness, from moment to moment, Zachariah had found himself flying. No fear was felt however, not really. It felt like the brutal and bloody death was far too distant, so little of a threat, for now at least. Not being able to differentiate the objects on the surface as he fell, the warrior closed his eyes and enjoyed the wind hitting against his fur, sending it backwards. Opening them again after what felt like minutes, Zack realized that he wasn't on the sky anymore. No, he was on the ground now, right in front of a tree. Once the male fully processed everything around him, his first instinct was to look for the pup who had fallen asleep beside him, as the young one was nowhere to be found. Looking around, behind rocks, beneath trunks and inside the river, the warrior got more and more nervous. Then, out of the corner of his eye, he saw a small figure, losing itself on the mist, into the true depth of the forest. "Tamlin!? Kid come back!" the warrior shouted, picking up the pace as he ventured in, "Kid!? Where you at!?" His cries made no effect, they just echoed throughout the entire forest. Childlike whispers and laughter were heard all around him, frustrating the Eurasian more and more. "Quit it! It ain't funny Tamlin! Come on out where I can see you!"Out of the blue, a big crunch was heard, followed by a thud. A small corpse, wet, eyes open, with a broken expression. Closing in, Zachariah knew almost immediately who that was. Aedion? Only seconds passed, and another corpse fell from the sky. This one was bigger, with white fur, a fully grown adult. Another known face, unfortunately. Zero? Many more followed, a barrage of death tumbling down onto the forest. Wren, Ozmond, Hoshi, even Seven and Luke. All the others followed soon after. It was clear, Noctis had fallen, and he wasn't there to do jackshit. A smaller noise came from behind the warrior. Another corpse, much smaller than the others, had fallen into a bush. Tamlin... Zack got close, inspected the body of the teenager closer. He wanted to cry, he wanted to bite something or someone until there was nothing left. He felt anger, confusion, sadness, all at the same time, but he also felt stuff falling on his mouth. Opening it, teeth began to fall off. Two, five, twelve, eighteen, and it soon turned into a ridiculous amount. Horrified at the image of his entire denture falling out, Zachariah tried to shout, but nothing came out of his mouth. "You..." A word came from the body of the little one in the bush. "You did this..." Before being able to ask anything, Tamlin jumped at the warrior. Panting, containing his urge to scream, he woke up. Looking at his side, the grown male saw the teenager sleeping peacefully. Well, he ain't no demon alright."Wake up kid, gotta go back."Warrior Tamlin

Thankfully, his mind lay idle. Around him, a blanket of darkness smothered the world, the frigid expanse leaving a sour scent in his nose and a bitter flavour on his tongue. At least it filled the void. He would rather have nothingness than the demons that plagued him eternally wreaking havoc within his mind. His head tucked itself into downy fur, the comforting yet foreign scent of Zachariah keeping him under his duvet of silence until a deep vibration echoed through his head. "Wake up kid, gotta go back," the warrior's voice lifted his covers, exposing the harsh light of dusk to unwilling eyes. Slowly, the alabaster teen unfurled himself from the oaken male's side, each of his joints screaming as if a decade has passed rather than just a few hours. Giving the warrior he had collapsed on a small nod, Tamlin stiffly moved his joints, ready for a walk back to the commons in a direction he didn't know for an unknown distance. The concept of time was warped for the teenager. Everything that had happened was just so sudden, it was impossible for an immature mind to fully grasp his reality, let alone rationalize it. He needed some sort of rock, but it seemed that his life was plagued by landslides, stealing away every familiar landmark from under his paws in some sort of cruel joke. He was trying to piece his life together holding onto pebbles; it was an impossible task. -Exit to Common Grounds- Paladin Zachariah

| The terrain was still covered heavily with snow, little to no path being able to lead them to the lake that he knew was already iced over with winter's grip holding firmly to the land. A few paw prints here and there made no direction, but Luke didn't need a path to know where he was going. He knew every single part of Noctis like the back of his paw, and he would make his way to the frozen lake very easily as he finally stepped onto the small shore. Underneath the snow that presented itself, he could feel the grass that was underneath, dead and ready to come back in the spring time. Bringing cranberry eyes to land on his companion, he looked over to the lake, seeing that there were no openings at all to the sheet of ice. However, it would be much too dangerous to try standing on it. Even if a lighter wolf were to do it, ice was fragile and would break at the right pressure points.
"So Wren," He said, his ears flattening against his head as he didn't know what exactly to say to her. He didn't want to bring up the problem that had been suffocating him for so long, especially since he had invited her along on this trip to simply talk with her. Bringing himself to sit down, he looked around them. The silence that filled the air heavy as he raked his mind, trying to form any sort of sentence that he could. How was he this awkward with someone he had been talking to for the past couple of months. Of course, it was always pack related, so the conversation flowed easily between the two of them. However, now that they were alone and there was nothing having to do with the pack, he was gripping for some sort of conversation starter. He never thought he would feel this nervous around someone, but his stomach felt like it was performing acrobatics. "Uhm... W-What's your favorite season?" He blurted, not knowing what else to say. Smooth, Luke, Smooth. He mentally slapped himself but he looked back at her with a nervous chuckle. "Sorry, that's out of the blue, I'm not very good at making conversation," He said. "I know I probably sound weird since I'm an Alpha, but it's hard to come up with conversation sometimes," His rambling finally ceased, and he was definitely embarrassing himself in front of her.

WORK CAN BE FUN IF YOU LAUGH A LITTLE
It would be a lie to say that her heart wasn't pounding out of her chest as they walked together. Sure, they had talked one on one before, but that had been in the commons. Others could easily see them, and it was always about pack business. This, this felt like something more. The giddy voice in the back of her mind defined it almost like a date, but her rationale quickly nipped that thought in the bud. She didn't need childish crushes interfering with normal conversation.
Her paws stalled in the snow as Luke's rump hit the ground, her own following suit quickly. Amber eyes looked over his frame as he was seemingly momentarily distracted, looking over all the little details that littered his coat. Tiny flakes of snow clung to the streaks of black that bled down onto his chest from his nape."So, Wren," his baritone voice moved her eyes back up to his. Just hearing him say her name was enough to send a tingle down her spine. It was foolish, she knew, but the little things he did had the tendency to warm her heart.
"Uhm... W-What's your favorite season? Sorry, that's out of the blue, I'm not very good at making conversation, I know I probably sound weird since I'm an Alpha, but it's hard to come up with conversation sometimes," his rambling was arguable humbling. She was so used to seeing him confident and sure, it was just another reminder of the wolf that lay behind that face. Giving the russet male a small smile, Wren began to answer his question.
"I'd have to go with autumn. I've always liked the changing of the leaves from green to orange, and when they fall it reminds me of when I was a pup. I liked to chase them through the commons," the Beta chuckled, memories of her past dancing through her mind. Subconsciously, the connection between the morphing colours of autumn and the highlights in the coat of her admiree was hidden poorly. Currently, those fiery lines of russet made him stand out magnificently from the bleached landscape surrounding them.

| Luke was feeling a little bit out of place, striking up normal conversations was not his forte after all. But he was happy that Wren seemed to overlook his awkward start to a conversation, as she answered his question without any hesitation. Something about her made the male feel more at ease, knowing that she wouldn’t judge him for having trouble making plain conversation. It at least showed that he was more wolf than the robotic Alpha he usually was, barking orders and mostly talking about the pack than personal things. It was nice to just have a nice conversation with her instead of always being business-like. He noted that her favorite season was autumn, something that made him happy. Although Luke had nothing against autumn, it was definitely not his favorite season. It seemed that with that thought, she asked him what his favorite season was. Looking towards her with thoughtful eyes, the dark pools of cranberry hovered over her before looking out towards the frozen lake that stood before them.
“Honestly, Spring is my favorite season. It feels like the forest comes to life, as well as the pack. With winter coming to an end, spring comes with rain and plentiful prey. As well as pups,” He said absentmindedly. Looking towards where the pack members would no doubt be hunting, he sighed. “I wonder if we’ll see any litters this spring,” He pondered aloud. Most of his wolves had yet to form any mateships besides himself and Seven, and their pups were born in winter, one of the worst seasons to have pups. Which was the reason why their litter of six now dwindled down to a litter of two. Winter was harsh for pups, and only the strong ones would survive. He was glad that two of his pups had survived through the harshest part, and Hoshi was to thank for that. She had been there constantly making sure Seven was in good health as well as the pups. After the death of the first two pups, Hoshi had worked extremely hard to keep the remaining alive, although only being able to have the two boys survive. But that was more than enough for him, and he thanked the Salutary over and over again for it. His mind was caught on pups that he asked his next question without much thought.
“Has anyone in the pack caught your attention?” He asked, embarrassment flooding through him as he realized what he had just asked. “You don’t have to answer that if you don’t want to… I was just curious,” He stated, trying to play it off as if he was paying attention to what he was saying. “It just doesn’t seem like the pack has really formed any mateships besides Seven and I’s. And well… You saw how that went,” He muttered the last part to himself, although Wren would probably hear him with how close they were. He was curious though. To see if someone had caught his Beta’s attention. A small pang of jealousy coursed through him as he thought of the implications. If it wasn’t him, then it was definitely someone else, and his mind internally screamed at him for even asking. He was a little emotional ball of fur, and he would definitely want the answer to be him. If it wasn’t, he would understand. Or if she was vague, he would understand that as well. But the smallest part of him wanted her to say him. Well, almost his entire consciousness was screaming for her to say him.

“Honestly, Spring is my favorite season. It feels like the forest comes to life, as well as the pack. With winter coming to an end, spring comes with rain and plentiful prey. As well as pups. I wonder if we’ll see any litters this spring,” Wren could listen to Luke's voice all day. In all honesty, she didn't actually know too much about him. She knew he was an amazing father, albeit unfortunately to his estranged mate. Not that Seven wasn't an amazing wolf! It was just that the pair had such a whirlwind romance that it was odd to have met her, seen her become Alphess, and then just as suddenly reduced down to an Omega. Now, she knew he liked Spring.
“Has anyone in the pack caught your attention?”
Wren's heart stopped in her chest. In an instant she was both doused in cold sweat, burning up, choking, and holding her breath. How did he know? Was this some cruel joke? Or was he just oblivious and asking a casual question? Maybe he felt the same wa-

And well… You saw how that went,” Luke's voice quickly cut in to redeem himself. As if those words could calm her heart. It was beating at a million miles an hour, and Luke's presence wasn't about to make it fade any faster.
"I... I have someone in mind..." Her words were slow, embarrassment noticeably permeating each of them, "But he's got a lot on his plate so I don't know if anything will ever happen." She couldn't quite meet Luke's eyes as she spoke. Instead, she tried to seem casual by glancing out at the frozen lake they were seated next to. Her paws fiddled with the ground and she was doing almost everything to bridge the torturous silence that had frozen between them. word count: 340

| Luke was honestly surprised that she had answered his question. She said that she had someone on her mind. Who was it? He hadn’t seen Wren act overly close with any of the males in the pack, so he wondered if maybe it was something that was happening out of sight. He had never been good at detecting these things, and it clearly showed as he studied her, watching as she casually looked out over the lake. It confused him honestly, the whole idea. She came back again, talking about how the male in question was quite busy and had a lot on his plate, and she wasn’t sure that anything would happen between the two. He wondered what exactly it was that this male was so busy with. Not many of the pack wolves took too much, and with how the pack was, there was hardly anything to worry about. So what did she mean by this? The question made loops in his head, and nothing clicked, so he thought to just plainly ask.
“What makes you think that? I mean, I’m sure he has time for someone like you,” He said earnestly, cranberry optics taking a look out at the lake, a little embarrassed by his next words. “You’re an amazing wolf, I don’t see why anyone would pass up the chance to have something with you,” He said, his words slipping before he could stop himself. They were honest and he meant each one. “They would be awfully stupid to pass you up. Simply because their life is hectic, you’ve always had a way of helping others through troubling times. It’s the reason why I made you the Beta of my pack,” He went on. “You’re always willing to lend a paw when another needs it, and you’d be an amazing mate to whoever it is,” He said, his tail twitching nervously. Was he saying too much?

WORK CAN BE FUN IF YOU LAUGH A LITTLE
The silence that strung between the two felt never-ending and burdensome. Should she fill it again? Thankfully, Luke took that burden, “What makes you think that? I mean, I’m sure he has time for someone like you. You’re an amazing wolf, I don’t see why anyone would pass up the chance to have something with you. They would be awfully stupid to pass you up. Simply because their life is hectic, you’ve always had a way of helping others through troubling times. It’s the reason why I made you the Beta of my pack. You’re always willing to lend a paw when another needs it, and you’d be an amazing mate to whoever it is."
She was utterly gobsmacked. Through the deep set of winter, his words warmed her chest almost unbearably. A smile, bright with glee and embarrassment, crawled onto her face as she folded her head down into the fur of her chest. Mulling over the words she wanted to say, hopefully without stumbling (too much), her mouth felt like it was stuffed with leaves. Words just really hated her at this very moment. If her ears were any less fluffy, he would be able to see just how red they were from her embarrassment. Shrinking back into herself a little bit, her amber eyes trailed over to the russet frame she had been building feelings for for so long. Hoping he would understand what she was trying to say, the Beta's voice murmured, "I'm glad he thinks so, I just hope I can prove that to him soon." word count, notes, n stuff

| As he had finished speaking, he had felt like he maybe said too much. Had he given away the fact that he liked her? Maybe she would just think of his words being that of a confident friend, instead of someone who was interested. But he didn’t want that. He wanted her to see that he meant what he said, in more than just a friendly way. She was quite possibly the brightest and best she-wolf he could have chosen to be next to him, and he was nervous enough that there would be another male that she was interested in. He wasn’t sure who it was still, being oblivious was in his nature, and he was mulling over everything she said, trying to find an answer to his one remaining question that still had not been answered directly; who was it that she was in love with? It nawed at the back of his head, the wheels turning rapidly but finding no grip as they spun out of control in his thoughts. He wanted to know badly who it was, but it would be rude of him to ask outright. How had they even gotten to this part of the conversation? He had brought it up, that’s right. Mind reeling, his ears snapped up as he heard what she said, piecing together her words, cranberry eyes widening as she spoke words that were slightly confusing to him, but there was an underlying meaning that he was supposed to catch onto. He had always been a rather intelligent male when it came to most affairs, love not being one of them however. The male had burned through two mateships quickly. A she-wolf that stated he loved her vanishing before he could even properly set up a mateship with her. The second was a quick decision upon a feeling that fluttered away almost as quickly as it had come.
He was not experienced at all with love, and he was scared to say the least. He loved her, that much he was sure of. He had spent months mulling over this fact, whereas the previous relationships took him little time to jump into. He found himself dumbfounded as he finally understood what she meant. ‘I'm glad he thinks so, I just hope I can prove that to him soon.’ There was no one else around. He was the wolf she was talking about, and he stuttered a bit, trying to grasp his words as he tried replying to her. But his vocal chords failed him. He was simply too shocked to say anything. The look on his face conveyed that as well, as his eyes were wide, mouth hanging open awkwardly as gargled sounds and incoherent words slipped from his maw. He took a moment to compose himself, shutting his mouth before a fly entered and clearing his throat as he finally became somewhat composed. His thoughts were still racing a mile per minute as he replayed the words in his head. There was only one thing that he could do right now, and that was to ask the question that screamed at him to be presented. “I-Is he… Is it me?” He asked, looking to her a little embarrassed as his ears pinned against his head, the Alpha showing a more vulnerable side to himself. One that was flustered and shy, something he hardly ever portrayed.

WORK CAN BE FUN IF YOU LAUGH A LITTLE
She didn't want to look at him, but at the same time, she wanted to watch him as he scrambled to figure out the clue she had laid out for him. With her body leaning slightly away, as if the object of her affections was a bomb about to explode, she scanned his features. After a few seconds, his mouth fell open, his eyes bulged out of his skull and strangled sounds were the only thing that left his body. Her ears flicked back, paws itching for her to just run away before he could even say anything.
"I-Is he... Is it me?"
Her body froze. She knew he was going to figure it out. She had planned for him to - practically baited him into walking into her confession. So why did she feel so scared all of the sudden? Her posture mirrored his; blondish ears sewn onto her skull as now it was her turn to tango with the English language. Struggling to wade through the fog in her mind to make a cohesive sentence, the Beta decided that actions spoke louder than words. In a split second decision, the blanketed she-wolf's form surged forwards and lightly pressed her nose against his - only briefly before the mixture of embarrassment, hope, and fear drew her back. "Y-yeah, it is..." Wren stuttered out in almost a squeak once she found control over her voice again. She was hoping for all she was worth that he was thinking the same thing that she was - that hopefully he liked her back. It was all she could do. word count, notes, n stuff

| She mirrored him almost completely. Her posture being the same as his, nervousness seemingly take over for the both of them as they finally figured out what all this was finally leading up to. A confession. It wasn’t necessarily a verbal one, but a physical one. It happened rather quickly, her nose being pressed against his, before pulling away a little too quickly for his liking. He looked to her, cranberry eyes looking over her frame. The she-wolf he had truly fallen in love with, the one that was perfect and beautiful inside and out. She was perfect in every single way, even if she didn’t think so. He believed it, and knew it was true, no matter how much she protested. As she confirmed that it was indeed him, he knew that now was the time for him to make his feelings known, to let her know that she was not part of a one-sided love story. Before words could escape his mouth however, a howl came from the commons. He growled a bit, the timing being impeccable. He’d encountered this problem before, and it would not happen again. Before she even attempted to suggest that they head to the commons, as one would do if they weren’t ready to be rejected, or thought they were going to be, he brought himself to her side, his eyes searching for hers as his muzzle gently pressed against the bottom of hers, trying to get her to look at him.
“Wren,” Her name fell off of his tongue quickly and fluidly. It was embarrassing to say, but he had been practicing in his head how he would tell her when it came time, even if the fantasies of how it would come about were far from what was happening now, and were a bit more extravagant. But he was here now, ready to tell her how he felt. “I like you, a whole lot. I’ve had my past mistakes when it comes to being mates with others, and I even have children with a she-wolf I no longer call mine. But I really do like you, for how beautiful you are, inside and out. I know that the current situation in life isn’t ideal to be brought into, but I want you by my side for everything that is to come. I want you to rule this pack alongside me, not as my Beta, but as my mate, and the Alphess of Noctis,” He said, looking to her with earnest eyes. “You’re such a talented and intelligent wolf, I don’t know how someone like you could ever come to like me,” He whispered, her no doubt hearing what he had to say. “So, what do you say?” He asked, looking to her, searching her face for a reaction.
The howl from earlier was now to the forefront of his mind. The hunt was finished, and if they were being called back to the commons, it was because they were successful, or something terrible happened. But with the urgency lacking from the howl, he could tell that he was the former rather than the latter. If Wren were to answer either way, he would react accordingly, but now the two superiors would have to break away from their private moment alone, and head back to the commons. “Let’s go get something to eat,” He spoke, looking to her with eyes that were warmed at the fact that she liked him, and had chosen him out of all the many good wolves of the pack, to fall in love with.

WORK CAN BE FUN IF YOU LAUGH A LITTLE
She wanted him to do something, say something, but at the same time, she wanted to run away and bury her head into the snow. However, thank goodness, a howl from the commons was a welcome distraction. The hunt must be finished, hopefully Tamlin and Aili had gotten along and done well, and no one else was injured. Opening her maw to give herself an escape, she quickly snapped it shut as Luke pressed himself to her side. She could barely breathe from nerves as her eyes searched hers.

A few tears pricked at the edge of her vision, an unstoppable smile pasted firmly onto her face.
"Of course, yes! I'm just glad that someone as caring, strong, and resilient as you is my mate," She whispered back, pressing her nose to his once more, loving how the phrase 'my mate' flowed between them. At his suggestion to head back to the commons to see how the hunt had fared, she hummed in agreement. Walking back as possibly the happiest she-wolf in the world, the newly crowned Alphess couldn't hide the smile that lingered on her face every time looked - no, thought - about Luke in that moment. -Exit to noctis commons-
