Long ago, I made a thread that was like this, but instead was kind of... not... very... good?
To simply put it out: It had stacks upon stacks of wolfspeak words, and no genuinely useful information
to help the reader improve their writing skills. And so, with the good decision to remake this, I introduce you to...

SYNONYMS. Ah, yes, synonyms are nice to use to maybe expand your vocabulary, using different wording and phrases will please your language teacher. And, for the people who don't know what synonyms are:
syn·o·nym
ˈsinəˌnim/Submit
noun
a word or phrase that means exactly or nearly the same as another word or phrase in the same language, for example shut is a synonym of close.
Synonyms are used daily, and I'm pretty sure that I've heard teachers say 'instead of using this, use this'. It's a pretty straightforwards and easy to understand. Instead of using basic words like 'happy', using words like 'cheerful', or 'thrilled' would do just the trick! I know a really great site that's full of synonyms and definitions for words that I tend to use all the time, it actually helped me with my writing as soon as I discovered this. It's called 'thesaurus.com', and it's pretty cool.
Anyways, besides talking about synonyms, being more DESCRIPTIVE in writing will definitely attract a lot of people's attention! Synonyms are one thing that I like, but being more descriptive in writing definitely inspires me, and helps lengthen your posts!
Instead of writing,
"He sat down." there could be lots more to explain about instead of this blunt piece of text right there.
Knowing what goes on in a character's mind is pretty great. Maybe what their mood is, what driven them to sit down, maybe the occasional description of a character.
You could easily go from "He sat down." To
> "The scrawny black wolf sat down on the clearing of soft grass." (Gives us a better description of his surroundings.)
To >
"The scrawny black wolf felt exhausted from spending minutes chasing a hare across rolling hills, so he sat down on the clearing of soft grass, his tongue lolling out of his mouth as he panted."
(Now we know why he sat down. It also gives him expression since dog-like creatures are known for having their tongue out when they're trying to get their stamina back!)
You can easily improve a post by being more descriptive, bonus points if you do it in facial expressions.
"He looked upset." > "His ears flattened to the back of his head with a frown on his face, completing the look with furrowed brows." You could even add "He looked upset" afterwards just for the sake of it looking a little better and lengthening your post just a little longer. Also, adding PERSONIFICATION to your surroundings makes the writing more interesting to look at. It's basically adding human characteristics to something that is not human.
For example: "The trees swayed along the calming draft, and their branches made a little dance,"
It makes your writing more interesting to read, and places visuals in the readers mind. We all know that trees can't dance, but it's just exaggerating, just like stating "The senior wolf could have been a trillion years old just from the looks of them".
And since you've reached the end, here's a list of words that I've picked up!
GENDER
- bitch, lady.
- brute.
COLORS
- shades, hues, highlights, tints
> synonyms for colors are also used, just listing a few of my favorites- cerulean
- amber
- saffron
- crimson
- ashen
- ebony
- alabaster
MISC.
- i've seen the term 'sun-dappled' being used and i like how it sounds!
- i've also just began to use 'autumn colored coat', probably works best for wolfs that have a orange/brown/cream coat mix.
