Either the yearlings were too shocked by his presence or were amazed at the whole concept of 'sand' because neither responded. In fact, the darker male that seemed to accompany the leading male of the group before he stumbled upon them approached him, some reserves he had made starkly obvious by the distance he placed between the two. The question was nothing new to the male, but each and every time it still sent him reeling, "What caused you to start chewing on rocks? Don't they taste... displeasing?"Sheepishly, the male lowered his head in embarrassment momentarily, rearranging his paws carefully to hide the pile of stones that was so precious to him. "Well," he began, struggling to find the words to adequately explain his odd behaviour even after explaining it all of his life, "It's not that they taste good. It's just that... I have to? If I don't it feels like something terrible is going to happen, like all the prey will die, or there will be a huge a storm. I know there's no logic to it, I just have to. Honestly, I don't really think about the taste!" All while he spoke, Cori pacified his growing anxiety by rolling the stones under his paws, feeling the particular smoothness of Chet's pebble. Balancing out the question with the pleasure of receiving the gift, the male was able to calm his oddly racing heart. Flashing the wolfdog a small, gummy smile, as if to try to apologize for anything he could've done to upset him, Cori placed his rump on the sand. His teeth weren't missing, just not nearly as sharp as everyone else's. Keeping his rock and alder under his paw, the clouded male turned his cobalt and black gaze back over to the younger members, hoping to see them learn about the wonders of sand still, or at least catch the tail end of it. @knox @astro Nooné Spirit @lexavein @kebechet @lillian Aenemys Astoria

None of the others seemed the least worried about "Mr Warm Snow Monster". Only Knox seemed a little flustered, or maybe he was scared up a little. Perhaps "Mr Warm Snow Monster" didn't exist after all. Spirit's theory was wrong. But what other explanations were there to the mysterious disappearances of the wolves? Spirit was pretty sure they weren't kidnap by a pack, or Nooné and her would have seen them. It was all too strange. "This 'warm snow monster' you speak of, it sounds a lot like sand. Were you thinking of the stuff all over the beach here?" Spirit gazed at the ground doubtfully, narrowing her eyes upon the orangish particles. She shifted her paws slightly, scooping up a pawful of "warm snow" and letting it sift through her claws. Could this matter really be sand, or whatever that is, and not warm snow? So that was what the strange matter is after all. "Sand," Spirit tested the word. Realisation dawned upon the young one. Maybe Corvidae is right. The strange matter was sand! She turned to look at her longest companion, Nooné, to see if he agreed with Corvidae's new word. If the strange matter is called sand, then "Mr Warm Snow Monster" is "Mr Sand Monster". Then again, does "Mr Sand Monster" actually exist? Spirit wasn't sure. Was it safe to assume "Mr Sand Monster" wouldn't be coming for Nooné and her? This time, she decided to stay silent. No point panicking everyone if "Mr Sand Monster's" existence was not even confirmed yet. "I think you're right. Thanks." the alabaster wolf tipped her head in appreciation, turning to thank the rock-chewing wolf. This time he was gnawing on something new, a thin flap. Where did that come from? Before Spirit could open her mouth to ask him, Knox implored on Corvidae's rock-chewing habit. The taller wolf explained that chewing on the rocks brought him some comfort in a way. He seemed to be growing anxious by the moment. Maybe she should change the topic to something that he was more comfortable with. "Where did you find that from?" she piped up after he had finished, staring curiously at the strange object sticking out of his mouth. @knox Apprentice Corvidae Nooné @astro @kebechet @lillian Aenemys Astoria

The rust coated gal was pleased when Corvidae seemed genuinely happy with the gift, tail dragging through the sifting sand as she wags it idly back and forth. The wolves here made her feel welcome and wanted, a warm feeling that had fled her for so long since her mother’s death. There were moments when she regretted her decision to leave her father, worry plaguing her mind at the thought of the depressed male, but she knew deep down that it had been the right decision. He would have hated it if she had anchored herself to him. The cheery bitch desperately hopes he had found it within him to move on and take care of himself, but she also knew that if she went back to check she likely wouldn’t leave again. So for now she revels in the warm feeling these wolves inspired in her chest, muddy hazel eyes lightening to dark green as her happiness shines through.
The normally talkative female was content to let the idle chatter of the group lull her into a half-doze, ears still focused on the conversation but eyes half-lidded and drowsy. It had certainly been an exciting last few minutes, the intensity almost draining after months of day-in day-out boredom. It would seem that they were no longer interested in moving, talk shifting to Cori and his rock chewing habits. She lifts her head from her paws at this, ears perking up with interest. She had been curious about that, assuming it was a cultural thing, but maybe she was wrong. “That’s some voodoo type stuff if I’ve ever heard it!” She grins, cheeky. “But if those rocks are what’s keeping disaster at bay you’d better believe we’ll keep you well stocked.” Her gaze soon turns to Spirit. As naive as she was, it was somewhat reassuring to know that she wasn’t the least experienced of the wolves here. There was something heartwarming in their ignorance, and she hopes that the group will continue to teach them - if they chose to stay together.

After explaining the possibility of a monster beneath them, hiding underground, Cori, the rock chewing male who had just come into the group actually told them that the material they were stepping on right now is actually something called "sand". Warm snow kinda sounded better though.... "Sand" . Spirit talked, letting the orange matter pass through her claws, as if testing the ground. "Sand, huh? We-ell, never heard that word before". Conversation shifted, though. Knox, one of the hybrids of the group asked Cori. "What caused you to start chewing on rocks? Don't they taste... displeasing?". Yeah, it did seem kind of weird for someone to be biting on such hard material. Nooné would have asked, but his shyness made him hesitate and just completely ignore the strange habit the black male had. "It's not that they taste good. It's just that... I have to? If I don't it feels like something terrible is going to happen, like all the prey will die, or there will be a huge a storm. I know there's no logic to it, I just have to. Honestly, I don't really think about the taste!". As self-contained as the Iberian was, even he couldn't control a small "Woah" that had managed to curve past his subconcious overanalyzantions. Chet jumped with her own commentary on the matter, too. “That’s some voodoo type stuff if I’ve ever heard it!. But if those rocks are what’s keeping disaster at bay you’d better believe we’ll keep you well stocked.”. "There's tons of rocks around here though, I-I'm pretty sure we could always replenish!, he added. "Where did you find that from?", Spirit asked the rock-chewer. Feeling no need to add to the question, Nooné let the relatively old male answer patiently. He'll have his time to ask.

Kaira released a sight as she felt her legs numb due to the long way she traveled last night. She wanted to rest, but first, she needed to pick a place without anyone else. She hated and feared to be among others, she feared to be attacked once again. She feared to be treated like trash once again. She wanted to be alone, she wanted to be unseen. The more she remains by the low, the safer she would be.
But as she padded, a black wolf came to view. And feeling her heart pounding fast like if she felt an upcoming danger even if it wasn't. Due to her trauma, she became paranoic with strangers, always thinking they will hurt her with no mercy. And she wasn't a fighter by any mean. But even if she wanted to run, she just couldn't move. Her fear kept her from that. But she thought about a way to secure her life. So lowering her ears and body look at the stranger. "Don't harm me...I am not worthy of your time. " She said.

Character Change (was on wrong account)
Hai was tired. Upon the rocky, algae covered landscape, the mottled wolf tread slowly. Her ebony paw pads were sore from travel, and she had seldom sleep for quite a while. She sniffed around, becoming familiar with the landscape. She took in the information available, becoming aware of her surroundings. Hai was a very observant wolf, and she was enthralled in her focus. She became aware suddenly that she hadn't eaten for almost the same amount she had been deprived of sleep.
In the dull landscape, her pelt almost blended, and she sunk low, beginning to search for potential prey, sniffing and staying keen to any life. In this seemingly abandoned area, she could smell the worn trail of many rogue paws, looking for a place in this cruel world. She felt a pang of nostalgia. Hai sighed silently, her breath releasing in a thin puff of cold mist. Her thick fur helped with the chilly atmosphere. Suddenly she stopped, aware of the sound of clicking claws against rock and then a voice. She was aware of the smell, it had blended in with the dull scent of other wolves, and she had smelled it quite a bit back. She sensed another wolf, maybe two, and she slinked forward, looking down over a slight outcrop and looking over two other wolves. She made no move to speak, but instead lifted her front left leg and smacked her paw down on the rock beneath her, the sound creating a crackling noise as small pebbles rolled down the side of the rock.

Tender steps crept through the grass, feeling it starting to give way to unstable sand. The scrawny russet-colored wolf stopped in his tracks. He hated the sand. It meant that the water he sniffed in the air was most likely undrinkable. But he didn't smell sea salt. Was this some large lake? Or had he simply been tricked by his senses? He felt around with front paws for a moment before his left foot meeting with a sizeable rock. He kicked the rock forward, ears perked to listen for what it hit. It skid across the sand a few feet before meeting with a pile of rocks against the wall of the cliff that rose beside him. He huffed, felt around for another rock, then kicked it to his left, where it met with the earthy wall of the cliff. It being close enough, he headed that way, wanting to get away from the uncertainty of unsolid ground. Tenzin stopped when he felt the presence of the cliff in front of him, using his nose to poke at the wall to find where it sloped downwards so he could find his way back off of the beach. Closed eyes never attempted to open, using all other senses to feel his way around, ears constantly tweaking and swiveling this way and that, listening to every sound that nature made around him. He smelled other wolves as well, and none of them were familiar scents. They weren't Tibetan wolves, or his family. Still, he was separated from them. Oh, well, he knew in his visions that they were still alive and living under the same sky as him. Even if they were gone, he hoped they had achieved Nirvana so they could move on to a higher consciousness. And if not, he prayed he see them again reincarnated so that he may help teach them they way of Buddha once more. Still, these wolves didn't seem hostile. They didn't even seem to be a pack. Just a group of rogues. That could mean they are more savage than pack wolves, or the complete opposite. He supposed it was the latter. His stomach growled loudly, drawing attention to the skinny wolf who was creeping along the side of the cliff, looking for solid ground. It seemed suddenly that he was surrounded by sand, and there were so many rocks around that they just seemed to hit each other. He kicked another hard enough that it bounced onto the grass a good twenty feet from him. His ears perked at the thump of the rock hitting a solid surface to walk on, and he eagerly headed towards the sound, tripping on a small pile of rocks on the way. He caught himself, but not without making a lot of noise. He would be embarrassed if he still held on to shame, or if he knew that there were wolves who could clearly see his display.

Hai's ears perked up, her attention drawn to the sound of rocks hitting rocks, and claws scrabbling over stone, clumsy and looking for way. She maneuvered around the cliff face she was standing on, her paws going from a rough surface to soft sand and clumps of grass, following her sense of smell and hearing, looking for jutting pieces of flint in the sand so she did not step on them and injure her paws. Her pads were sore from the rocky terrain, but she moved quickly, relief flowing through her as she felt the calming grains, even though they were difficult to walk on.
Soon she saw a ruddy colored wolf, his eyes closed and, even though he stumbled, he seemed comfortable and familiar in the state he was in. Immediately Hai analyzed the situation, coming to the conclusion that he either could not see, or he had poor vision. Despite his obvious lack of aggression, Hai was weary. She quietly approached him, keeping her head low and her emotions level, assuming his other senses were quite strong. Hai heard his stomach growl, and the though of food in turn emitted the same reaction from her own digestive system. Quickly she gave up on being silent and stopped a few feet away from him. By this point, they were out of site from the other wolves she previously had discovered. "Are you okay?" She muttered quietly, as not to surprise the other wolf now in front of her.

Tenzin seemed comfortable in his situation because he had plenty of time to come to terms with his blindness. Even though he was clumsy in these new surroundings, as all surroundings were new to him now, he knew he could figure things out and keep on moving. He could listen to mother nature and rely on her to do what she does best and take the stimuli and decipher it with his own senses. Losing his sight was a curse in the beginning, but now he saw it as a unique opportunity to experience the world without "first appearances" clouding his judgement. He also felt that it helped him get in better contact with the spiritual realm.
His ears faced backwards as he heard steps creeping towards him. He didn't sense any ill intent from this wolf, and so he sat still, feeling that even this wolf was cautious of him despite his obvious lack of sight. He was easy prey, he knew that, for any wolf who happened to be a cannibal or if they wanted to make an example of him by taking their anger out on him. Yet, the wolf was slow to approach as if he would turn around and attack her at any moment. When his stomach rumbled, the other wolf's stomach mirrored the sound, bringing a slight grin to his lips. The wolf- a female, it seemed- gave up on being slow and quiet at that point and stopped. She spoke softly, as to not catch him off guard, even though it was obvious he had heard her approach. He turned his head towards her, his head low while his ears listened and his nose sniffed to take in his surroundings.
"I'm quite alright, thank you. I smelled water and thought it was a stream, but it seems I'm on sand now, and so I may not be near any drinkable water. I'm also looking for some berries or something easy to eat, if you would know where something like that would be? It would help me a lot."

Hai relaxed, realizing all at once this wolf was in a situation that was quite close to hers. Looking for food and somewhere to be. She looked over his pelt, noticing the color and automatically putting pieces together: this was a mountain wolf, and he was quite a ways from home. Like many other rogues, his past was probably cruel, like hers. She didn't feel pity though, she ;earned over time that pity was not helpful, but relation was. Hai lowered her head, ready to help him. "I know where some consumable water is. I am Hai, by the way. I can see you are hungry as well, but sadly there is no edible plant life around here, but I know how to hunt well, and we may be able to find something edible." She said, calm now that she understood he posted no threat. Her tail relaxed, hanging down and twitching at the tip, what seemed to be a wag. Her muzzle was opened slightly, clouds of cold air emitting with every breath. She took the time to familiarize herself with his scent, and she could tell he had been traveling for a while, like her.

The female relaxed at his words, figuring out quickly that he was no threat. And with a few sniffs in her direction, he determined she wasn't a threat to him as well. He didn't sense any hidden intentions from her. She introduced herself, the positioning of her voice telling him she had lowered her head to him cordially. He was saddened by the fact that there wasn't any plants to eat nearby, meaning he was further out than he intended to be. She did offer to hunt for him, and even though he had turned away desires and temptations long ago, he couldn't deny that his mouth salivated and his tail wagged at the thought of fresh meat to eat after three months without it.
He raised his head just a bit to fully take in her scent as she familiarized herself with his. As he expected, this rogue smelled of many different places, meaning she had traveled just as he had, only in a different path. He shook out his fur, small puffs of air escaping his nose with each breath, though he didn't seem bothered at all by the cold. The woolly texture of his fur made it thick enough so he could brave the cold in the mountains of Tibet, so he was used to much colder temperatures than he felt now.
"I would very much appreciate it if you would. It's been a while since I've eaten meat. I can't see, so I can't hunt. At least, my senses aren't good enough yet that I can accurately target prey. My family would always hunt big animals like sheep and deer. My father could take down a sheep by himself. But I also eat squirrels and mice and rabbits in the winter when the deer were more scarce. My name is Tenzin, my family gave me that name in hopes I would gain wisdom to spread the teachings of Buddha."

Hai let out a wolfish grin, happy with this wolf. He was intelligent, and obviously liked to study things like she did, but in a different way. She started to create a hypothesis, on ways to teach him to hunt without sight. She sloped to his side slowly, rubbing her tail against his leg so he would know where she was leading him and not to stumble on sharp stones jutting from the ground. "Let's get you some nourishment. I figure we are both hungry. And I have an idea on how i can teach you to hunt purly from your sense of hearing and smell..... It's a good thing you like small rodents. I wonder if I can get my jaws of a fish or rabbit, it's been a while since i tried to get aquatic animals though..." The last part was mostly muttered to herself, and she traced her memory to remember where she last saw a puddle in a deep hole set in the ground, browned by the mud at the bottom but drinkable nonetheless. "This way." She said, gently bumping him with her snout, not pushing but indicating a direction. She suddenly felt like this wolf would help her just as much as she was helping him, a message from some unknown entity, it seemed. It confused her, but she felt a sense of purpose.

The female sauntered to his side, her tail brushing against his leg to lead him away from the rocks and sand. Once he was back on solid grass he visibly relaxed, able to sense more easily where everything was. He had been working during meditation to ground himself to the earth better, so that he could rely more on himself to figure out where things are. He did appreciate that this wolf was willing to feed him and help him out, even though she didn't even know him. It was always a gift when he was given opportunities like this. Without his faith in nature and his spirituality, he probably wouldn't have made it so far from home without vision, unable to hunt his own meat.
He heard every word she uttered, following her soft direction contentedly. She bumped him with her muzzle, showing him where a drinkable puddle of water was. It was most likely just a pooling of melted snow, but even that he was able to consume. He lapped at the water eagerly, taking a good few minutes before he pulled away with a satisfied sigh. He smiled peacefully, and flicked his ear towards her.
"Thank you again. I am not sure how to repay you for your kindness, but I know I will figure it out with some meditation. As for meat, anything you can catch will be more than alright with me, you don't need to go to extra lengths to wear yourself out over hard to catch prey. I haven't even eaten fish before." He stated calmly, as if it was common for his diet to never consist of aquatic prey. But where he lived with his family, prey was aplenty, even in the winter, and his kind were good hunters and enjoyed taking down larger prey so it could last the pack longer, so fish were never introduced into his life.

Hai took a moment to appreciate the wolf, and at this moment she felt they would be good friends. SHe looked around, sniffing in each direction to observe the wildlife around with all of her senses. She could see bird, probably Pipits, running around the distant shore, sniffing deeply she could smell a rabbit warren nearby, a snowshoe hare rustling around on the thin, touch grasses that struggled to grow. Titling her head, she heard the distant chirping of some unknown, small animal, perhaps the chirups of an otter calling to it's family. Hai tilted her head a little, "Okay then, let's see what we can find. Do you want to accompany me or would you like to find somewhere to sit while I find us something to prey upon?"

While Hai took her time to survey the surroundings, looking for prey, he did the same. While he didn't notice the birds he could smell the rabbit sneaking around looking for its own meal. Again he salivated, but knowing he hadn't hunted since he lost his vision, he felt he would be more than unhelpful in her endeavors. He could help her smell things out, but he couldn't hunt anything now.
"I would rather sit and wait. I don't wish to impede your efforts, especially when you are just as hungry as I am." He chuckled softly, a few snorts through his nose. "I will be happy to sit aside and allow you to do your thing. When we aren't starving you can tell me about your plan to help me relearn how to hunt."
The russet male took a few slow steps away, towards what he felt was a nearby tree to rest against, and once his paws met the roots he sat gracefully, silently moving his feet so he wouldn't disturb any nearby food that Hai would be going after. He nodded towards her to encourage her to go ahead, taking the time to still his breathing and clear his mind. It was a perfect opportunity to meditate.
