Atop one of the cliffs that tower over the valley and (below) the rest of the terrain looking out. Pretty much the same for the rest of the territory, and again, not much prey except ground-nesting birds, rodents, and reptiles. The biggest game, excluding various types of bird species, would most likely be a rockchuck, though they are frisky little buggers that are very vigilant.
Water sources include random small ponds or puddles of collected rainwater.

When it comes to small game, the player can choose whether or not their wolf makes the kill. Please keep in mind that a wolf does not make a successful kill every time, usually a best two out of three. Also, please note the territory you are hunting in and the prey listed. This is a cold, rocky, coverless (no trees/bushes, no cover) territory so prey will be pretty difficult to sneak up on. Please keep it realistic.

Though the large game animals listed above aren't the typical large game animals, they are still difficult to kill. Large game hunts cannot be finished in less than two posts if between a pair (or more) of wolves. If it is a solitary wolf, then please add adequate length/detail. Also remember that not all hunts are successful, so please keep it realistic.

"We are headed to towards the Eastern edge of my territory. I noticed yesterday before I left my territory that there was a stray doe probably separated from her herd, which would make it a lot easier and safer to hunt her. One of her hooves seemed damaged and she had a slight limp." Soturi's auds remained perked forward as Koro spoke and she fell into step just slightly behind his shoulders. She took the position of a beta with an alpha when on the prowl and she thought it funny that pack instinct still had such a hold on her. It was a practical way to travel, him slightly in front of her, to head the hunt and give direction, and her position set her up to follow in or protect from the side. Soturi was all business as she took in his information. Wounded doe, headed east, and she was alone. Koro led her from worn path of his den down into the rockier area where the hills and rocks seemed to rise and fall like waves. They headed toward the center of his territory and Soturi tried to make mental notes of the landscape and how she could use them to her advantage.
"That's where she was headed. I figure we will see if we can pick up her trail from there." The female's bright orange orbs glanced from the ground she paddered on and up to the large male wolf leading the way, giving a small nod of her head to show she was listening. Heading toward the area Koro indicated the doe went made Soturi have an almost prance to her step. The meat a single doe would provide wold be enough to fill both their bellies and if she had enough light left she would thank him and be on her way. "I assume you are a good bit faster than I am," Koro's voice breaks through Soturi's thoughts as he begins talking about the hunt. "I figure we get downwind so she cannot smell us and we try and surprise her as much as possible. We can separate, not far from each other, so that you can drive her towards me so I can start the attack, then you can join in. She shouldn't be too fast or difficult."
"I am pretty quick on my feet. It should be no problem for me to herd her toward you," Soturi's cranium bobbed in agreement with her statement. She was confident in her abilities, even in her thin state she was swift on her feet. Her homeland's harsh winters had helped strengthen her from pushing through the heavy snowfall. This would be a task she would excel at and show the large male she was more than her size. Her stamina is what worried her, having had small meals only and traveling had had its toll on her. The large male no sooner spoke when the ground produced a faint scent of the doe. Her nostrils flared open and the female's cranium lowered toward the ground.
"We can follow her scent untill we can see her. I'll break away from you then and head around to cut her off. I'll hopefully push her right around to you. You can ambush her from your position and as soon as you get to her we can finish it," Soturi was already visualizing the hunt and just exactly how she would do it. Her orange orbs turned to Koro to see if he had any objections to this.

"I am pretty quick on my feet. It should be no problem for me to herd her toward you." Good, this wolf balanced out with his stats, which made a better team. However, he didn't know if it was only going to be valuable this once, if they were going to part ways and never 'balance each other out' again. At the same time, they picked up the doe's scent. Koro looked at Soturi and saw the recognition on her face, as well. "We can follow her scent until we can see her. I'll break away from you then and head around to cut her off. I'll hopefully push her right around to you. You can ambush her from your position and as soon as you get to her we can finish it." The female looked at Koro, and he gave a nod, and they walked on, following the scent. Dried blood seemed to follow the musk of the doe's body, a clue that he had been correct about the leg. The scent began to slowly kickstart his adrenaline, as if his hormones were just beginning to stir. Thankfully, the doe's trail led into where the wind was blowing from, meaning her scent would be led to them, and theirs would not be detected. His muscular body prowled along the grasses dotted with rocks, his smaller counterpart at his side. The scent grew stronger, the doe's presence drawing nearer. His stern eyes were set solid on the land around him, his ears attentive and constantly flicking to sounds that made themselves known, his nose drawing in constant smells. Finally, the doe was in their near sight. At first sight of her, Koro looked to Soturi, but walked closer, sneaking now, before speaking to Soturi. "I'm going to go flank her now, but I can't go in front of her much, or else she'll catch wind of me. I'll let you know when I am ready." he awaits her confirmation and silently prowls in a wide arc, semi-circling the doe and ending up on the other side of her, where Soturi would herd her. The doe was small, perhaps juvenile, and her leg hovered above the ground, no weight being placed on it. Finding a comfortable spot with an easy path to run and jump out at the doe, Koro settled into the grass low, but not before giving Soturi a look that meant 'I'm ready.' The adrenaline was building now as he squatted down, his eyes on the prize. While it was small, it would easily feed the two of them, and Koro hadn't had a large meal since his pack mates left him. His stoney gaze never left the doe as he waited for his part to play. KoroOOC: So sorry for accidentally posting with Helios lol

Soturi's maw parted as they began to trail the scent, her nares flaring with every inhale of the scent of blood and the excitement that only comes from a hunt. The doe's wounded leg gave them a spotted blood trail to follow and the wind was in their favor. Everything about Soturi's demeanor became more businesslike. Her head hung in line with her shoulders and back, her tail held out almost straight behind her with a slight wiggle here and there form her quickened pace. She had to move a little faster than normal given that her hunting partner's strides were much longer than her normal quick steps. They made a good match for a hunt tough. Soturi was light and slightly smaller, her frame more lean and agile, mostly this way due to her current wandering lifestyle. Koro had the size. The she wolf just assumed he would be able to make an easy kill on the doe simply because he was almost half her size and two Soturi's across. Surely the two of them and their assets would make this a successful hunt.
Their pace quickly brought them up to the hobbling doe, her back hoof the source of the blood, and most likely the reason she would not make it much longer. She glanced over at Koro as he began to speak, "I'm going to go flank her now, but I can't go in front of her much, or else she'll catch wind of me. I'll let you know when I am ready." Soturi dipped her head, but did not speak. She had her mind set on her task at hand. Driving the doe as close to Koro as she could get her to be. The wounded leg would give her an easy advantage, but she wanted to make sure she didn't spook the doe too soon. Her body shrunk closer to the ground and she waited while Koro got into position. The doe had her rear to Soturi and Koro placed himself perfectly on the doe's good side, the wounded hoof on her left would be the side she came in on. Her bright orange orb left the doe's body for only a second to get assurance Koro was ready. With any luck, she would turn the doe and have her come almost straight down on her hunting partner.
"Game on." Soturi wasted no time, she had her cue, she crouched and began her slow descent towards the doe. The terrain gave little hiding places to come down on as she made her way closer. The rocks protruding out of the ground in odd places was her only form of cover and she would soon run out of crouching places. The doe was at least twenty yards from the cropping of rocks Soturi was slinking behind and she paused with just her maw barely visible. She needed to come out quick and strong. Push her around on her good leg and hope she flees directly ahead. The adrenaline pumped into her muscles, her haunches bunched, and she propelled herself forward. The grass seemed to fly beneath her feet as her whole body pushed for maximum speed, her paws barely touching before shoving off again. The doe's head swung up and her eyes went wide, all in a split second, the panic set in and she turned. Soturi couldn't suppress the snarl that escaped her lips as she closed in on the deer's flanks. The deer turned, her adrenaline giving her the strength to use her back hoof for just a moment. The she wolf sat back on her haunches and threw her front half around to cut the deer off. She needed to go back toward the right. The distance between them was barely five feet and Soturi lunged towards her and snapped at her back wounded leg. The doe veered back toward where Koro was waiting. Snarling still, the she wolf fell back almost directly behind the deer, egging her to keep going in the direction she was. Soturi hoped the male wolf was ready for his part, the doe was quick even with an injured foot, and she did not want to prolong the chase. The she wolf was ready for Koro and as soon as he got his mouth on her Soturi planned on going for the injured leg.

Koro watched Soturi commence the chase, and it was as if he was feeling her adrenaline, as if he was the one chasing the doe. His muscles started getting jumpy, ready to spring at any minute, the adrenaline that flowed through his body made it feel as if he could leap up within a millisecond and as if he could run as fast as lightning, though he most certainly could not run fast. Soturi steered the doe, herding it like a pup, except aggressively. She ran fast, alarming the doe, and she snapped at the doe, steering her back on course towards Koro. He started to lift his haunches a bit, getting ready, wiggling slightly. Then, the doe was close enough to him. He jumped out from his hiding spot, to which the doe tried to turn and escape, but he grabbed onto her hind haunch, angling his body to avoid her sporadic and weak kicks, not able to kick well because she lacked support from her other hind leg. He latched on with a very secure grip, his jaw firmly grasped around her leg, that of which the taste was already making his mouth water. It was not to make a significant amount of damage, but to allow Soturi to be able to grab in and take her own part. If both of them were to latch on, then the doe would fall, and they would be able to get her while she was down, making it a rather short and easy hunt. Quickly, blood was trickling down from her leg, down his canines, down his jaw, dripping off his chin and forming the fur on his chin into little, red, wet, spikes. The doe slowed dramatically with the heavy wolf at her only good hind leg, his bite making her panic. There was not hope for her now, for as soon as Soturi was to grab on and the doe was to fall, her life would be quickly ended.
@soturi (Life is finally sorted out! haha)

Edon Hunger rumbled deep within the pit of Edon's core as he lumbered towards Rockland West, but it wasn't a deep hungering, more so an annoying picking that mayhaps a bird or mouse could fix. Was this boredom? Warm honey hues surveyed the terrain as coffee colored fur blended with the unearthed dirt from weathering, feeling the brisk wind which caressed his his skin beneath his warm coat, making his fur prickle and fluff against it. A shiver, much like a finger brushing along his spine made him shake his pelt out, and bring his eyes to the ash colored sky, clouds mushing together to form a thick fog-like cover and a dry chill filled the air but determination burned deep in him in hopes to pass the time with a hunt.
Arctic foxes yipped and screamed in the distance, their movements the only thing drawing the brutes attention to them, otherwise perfectly hidden among the snow sprinkled ground, two coming together and leaping over one another in a little game of tag. Want burned within him, memories of Aiyana plaguing his neutral state, how they had played almost the same way as those foxes, how he wished he could still speak to her, have her familiarity, her company. Though she may have scared off his potential prey and he'd have to send her off on a wild goose chase so he could get food in their bellies, he still would have preferred the inconvenience to emptiness. Warm words of comfort rather than the whistling of the wind, someone to curl up to at night rather than his own thoughts. But he knew he couldn't get close to another again, relationships came with pain, more heartache, more vulnerability.

The ebony female had been travelling by herself for the longest of times, alone. She was surrounded by silence, something she hated so much this instant. Oh, how she wished she had someone to talk to. By now, her voice was probably hoarse from not speaking. Although her last encounter with another wolf was rather unpleasant, Mira wanted so badly to find some company here. The quiet ambient sounds suggested otherwise, the whole place seemed deserted. The only things she could hear was the whisper of the winds, and the snow crunching beneath her paws. With high hopes in her heart, the lady bent down, pressing her nose to the icy, cold ground. Mixed scent trails were everywhere, mostly from Arctic foxes. The one that stood out the most was that of a wolf. Her eyes widened slightly. She wasn't the only one. Intrigued, the two and a half-year old tracked the fresh scent trail of the stranger. With every paw forward, she felt a rather uncomfortable icy sting from beneath. She loved the beauty of winter, but she did miss the soft touch of the meadows in Spring. Eyes peeled open, she tried to distract herself from it, admiring the snow-covered grounds ahead of her. It was such beauty, the whole wondrous sight of the valley. What used to be a rocky cliff which was probably covered with patches of green was now blanketed with snow. In the distance, Mira spotted a group of lively foxes, their pelt serving as a perfect camouflage during winter. She watched as they had fun together, chasing each other playfully. It had been so long since she last played with her siblings as pups. It had been so long since she last seen them. It was then she realised she wasn't the only one watching them - a brownish-furred male. The he-wolf stood some distance away from her, seemingly brooding about something. Without thinking twice, Mira approached him, surveying the stranger. He towered slightly above her. Maybe she should have been cautious upon approaching another stranger. It was too late to turn back now. "Hi," she greeted, turning to the arctic foxes. "Arctic foxes, hm?"

Celeste hobbled along mumbling something to herself. Her tone was low but spiked at random intervals, showing a bit of displeasure. What on Earth was I thinking heading up here? Should have found a better way around. She stopped looking back at the way she came and frowned. Well your too far now. Come on old lady! You can’t let a little mountain best you! What would Crimson think of you? Letting a little joint pain slow you down? That won’t stop me, not this mountain or the next one or the one after that…she went on chastising herself all the way and with little regard to what was about. Only when she reached the top did she stop with a huff and look around. See, now that wasn’t too bad. She sat down taking some time to rest. As she surveyed the land before her she caught sight of two wolves watching some foxes. She smiled wearily. Oh to be young again. She chuckled to herself. She considered letting out a short call to let them know she was near, and not a threat, but didn’t want to interrupt. Instead she watched, with memories of days past spilling into her thoughts. The vulpes continued their game of chase, their tails almost flicking a 'goodbye' to him as they disappeared behind large boulders, and Edon felt his fur prickle, the presence encroaching on him causing his muscles to tense. " Arctic foxes, hm?" The brute flattened his ears against his cranium, turning slowly to face the intruder, the voice indicating a female, relaxing his tense muscles but staying on guard. Amber eyes, cold as snow settled on the frame of a chocolate and black female then flicked down to her face. Slight discomfort shining lightly in her eyes, perhaps rethinking her approach to him. A grunt escaped his maw, neither confirming nor denying her prompt, obviously she had followed his gaze and already knew the answer. Was she looking for a friend? Or had she merely bumped into him by accident going about her business as he was? It didn't particularly matter to Edon as his features set a stony neutral appearance. She was too close. He took a step back. Eyes settled on him from a distance, somewhere behind the two wolves, likely, he felt them boring into the back of his skull. She didn't seem the type to bring backup but he still couldn't help feeling surrounded. His eyes never faltered from her own, he knew he was probably overreacting but his life told him to always watch his back and to never look away from a possible threat. He wasn't a runner, but he also didn't want to fight if he didn't have to. Perhaps if she spoke to him more, showed him she wasn't a threat, he'd open up, but right now, he didn't know her or what she was capable of. Mira @celeste

It had been a few weeks since Moose suffered the loss of his pack, Now he wandered as he wondered where his next meal would come from, what he could catch, nothing compared to what his old pack could've caught together surely. He stopped momentarily as he padded along the rocky terrain when he caught the scent of other wolves, excitement and weariness settling in his chest. He longed for companionship, he disliked the isolation he currently felt. After a moment of thought Moose decided to take a few more steps forward, following the scent but staying aware of his surroundings, he did not want to accidentally threaten whatever other wolves he'd just stumbled upon, but he did want to see them at the very least. His amber coat rustled in the wind softly as he went along, his ears picking up the sounds of little animals scuffling around, probably rodents, he was beginning to realize this place was pretty scarce with game, then he missed deer.

Slowly, ever so slowly, the old lady made her way up the uneven landscape. It wasn't that the journey upwards was incredibly taxing, instead, that the greying she-wolf preferred to move at her own pace. Just coincidentally, that pace was slow. Paw after paw, Grizelda crawled up the slope. From another area of the mountainous region were the sounds of foxes bickering, and the briefest of words exchanged between two younger wolves. And only a small distance away was the sound of elderly grumbling, another grandmother-esque female making her way up the slope. A small smile broke out on a greying muzzle, frankly amazed that she found another older wolf outside of a pack. Finally reaching the top of the range, Griz scanned the near Alaskan landscape with her gilded orbs. Four scents hit her nose despite having only heard three voices, so she wanted to see where everyone was on this seemingly popular mountain. A pair of wolves were off in the distance a short distance, the other elder between them and herself. A large caramel male stood as the outlier, off to the side awkwardly. Taking it upon herself to get some company, Griz tilted her head backwards and released a scratchy howl through the mountains. Beginning her slow movement once again, the dark grey elder made her way towards the other seemingly old lady. "Come on everyone," Griz's slower tones called as she moved, "Let's not be shy! Life's better with some company!" A small chuckle left her system, coming up within a comfortable distance of the darker elder with a sparkle in her gleaming golden eyes. As her shoulders came to a halt, the spiral trailing down her fur stopped as well. Placing her rump into the snow, the elderly female began her paced speech again, "My name's Grizelda, but most wolves call me Griz or Patty, but that's a story for another time. Do you want to introduce yourself?" The second sentence was directed towards all of the wolves in the mountains, hopefully, they had approached when she howled. Hunter Edon Hunter Moose @celeste Mira

Celeste was cleaning her paws when she caught the wolf glancing at she. She flicked her tail lightly showing she wasn't a threat. She had gone back to licking her paws when another male showed up. She looked up, offering a quick nod of greeting. "Getting busy around here." She offered as a greeting. Only the have a sharp howl interrupt again. This time the old lady stood up, looking to see who called, and upon finding another aged wolf smiling. "Well, look at that, someone else managed the hike." She ventured over, tail swishing light. "It's nice to meet you Griz. Didn't think I would meet someone with my kind of life experience up here. I'm Celeste. Just happen to be passing through."

As the larger male continued to pad along the landscape he stopped, hearing the older females howl, he looked in the direction it came from, his amber eyes scanning for who was calling. He decided to then start moving toward the howl when the call seemed friendly enough, hearing the old female talking about how life was better with company rather than alone, he couldn’t agree more. Once he came over a ridge he spotted the two older wolves, deciding to still pad forward and greet them both, he wondered what kind of experiences and wisdom these two wolves could bestow between their shared years, and if becoming old had turned their moods sour, his old pack had a few grumpy elders. He perked his ears up as he approached them, deciding to introduce himself too. “My pack called me Moose. It’s nice to meet you Griz, you too Celeste.” He greeted the other elder wolf, his tail giving a soft wag. @grizelda Hunter Edon @celeste Mira

The male responded with a mere grunt, seemingly not wanting to talk to her. Uncomfortably, he took a paw back - shy maybe. He was probably cautious upon meeting a stranger. Amber eyes surveyed the he-wolf for awhile. Maybe she should introduce herself, instead of remaining unknown. It might help to break the tension between them. "Uhm, name's Mira," she piped up awkwardly. "What's yours?" "I don't mean any harm," she continued, afraid that he felt threatened. Mira felt eyes watching her. Creepy. She swallowed hard. Swivelling her head in alarm, she saw another ebony figure staring at them in the distance. They were being watched. Mira panicked a little. What if the that wolf meant harm? What if she was there to stalk on them? Part of a kidnapping plan or something. Mira didn't want to end up in the evil hands of some group of rambunctious rogues. "There's someone over there," she reported, although the stranger probably knew that. An echoeing howl heralded the arrival of an elder dark grey-coated wolf: "Come on everyone, Let's not be shy! Life's better with some company! My name's Grizelda, but most wolves call me Griz or Patty, but that's a story for another time. Do you want to introduce yourself?" Pretty daring to make such an announcement. Mira secretly wondered whether she would ever be as brave as her in the future. The two elders began on a conversation, joined by another fella who introduced himself as Moose. How many more wolves are there on this mountain? Maybe this isn't an ambush after all. She relaxed her tense muscles a little, turning her gaze back to the he-wolf next to her: "Wanna go over and introduce ourselves?" Hunter Edon @celeste @grizelda Hunter Moose

" Uhm, name's Mira, what's yours?" The mexican grey wolf watched Mira for moments, likely a little too long standing in silence as he debated in his head whether or not it'd be his best interest to leave now, leave the prey for another time. " Edon." He murmured Unease settled in the pit of Edon's stomach as it seemed more and more wolves gathered around, Grizelda's howl brought his attention to her for a brief moment as she made her very slow way towards Celeste his eyes falling onto Moose, to Grizelda and finally falling back onto Mira's form. The male didn't fear the two other females as Griz plodded towards her new companion, the grey along her fur showing her age, the same to be said for the other female Celeste. Moose's brutish figure made his way towards the two elders, he seemed friendly enough, though daunting in his body size. Not much taller than he, but definitely more filled out than him, Moose - had he proved to be a threat - would be a tough opponent to fend off. Something settled in his gut, though, urging him to meet with the older females, and mira didn't seem so bad. At her question, he nodded, swishing his tail lazily behind him as he padded towards the other three wolves. His muscles were still tense, in case he needed to fend off an attack.
