- Cecil - "Together, we’re gonna rise with the morning light." Slow moseying pawsteps fell upon the lush terrain of the valley as Cecil made his way to the agreed area where he would meet his date Grizelda. Cecil pondered her name a moment as the sun slowly rose over the towering sides of the earth's embrace, how unique it sounded and how well it fit to her. The gray wolf had signed up for tinder upon a whim, mostly being guided by Moose's requests, though now he realized he may have been in over his head. The elder was under the impression he would be meeting friends. Not "friends". Simple musings here and there from the auburn male made Cecil think it wouldn't be as bad as he had thought; how fun it would be to get out there again and relive a time in the old Salutary's adolescence, girls giggling, courtship, the talk of pups. Though the last thing he was sure he had missed his chance at. When he had come across a similarly aged female, though, the male couldn't help but feel his stomach twist in anticipation and, perhaps, excitement? Though, in Cecil's time, courtship started with the male calling on the female where she resided. Meeting for the first time in a cyber environment, he supposed, did add a chance of danger, never knowing if you would meet who you've been presented with in a picture, never knowing fully if they were hiding their personality or any unattractive traits. One could never be too careful. Especially when their jointed ached and their muscles slowly deteriorated. Tulips of pinks, blues and reds grew in clusters, hugging the sides of the mountain valley, their sweet scent wafting through the air, more and more prominent the closer he moved towards them. The pretty salt and peppered she-wolf popped into his mind once again, the pink petals of the tulips and how pretty they would look against the female's pelt made Cecil grab one flower by the stalk and yanking firmly to release it from the ground before resuming his journey. As Cecil found himself at their meeting spot, tulip clasped firmly in his maw, the petite male brought himself down onto his haunches, his tail slowly and lackadaisically sweeping behind himself as he awaited his date, the sun warming his back and bringing his silver fur that sprinkled over his, once ebony, pelt to shine in the rays and he let his honey colored hues fall over the land before him. @grizelda

This whole Tinder thing was strange. Being up in the years, it had taken her a few days to find someone near the same age as her. She didn't want to be seen as a... what as it called... a cougar. She knew full well that it was a dating site, and how many others viewed someone as old as her on the site, but truly she wasn't looking to steal some young whippersnapper like Moose out from under a lucky wolf's nose, but to find someone her age. The first one she had found was a lovely sounding male named Cecil, his age showing on his muzzle just as hers did. She had few doubts about his profile being real, who would want to pretend to be an elder on Tinder? There were so few on the site, surely they would get fewer matches? Either way, he had a rugged but cute look to him, like he'd been through a storm but was still cheery afterwards. The pair of oldies had only talked a little over the interwebs, neither of them too keen on the virtual talking when they could meet face to face. As ageing joints made their way through the spring valley, Griz couldn't help but try to dismiss the butterflies in her stomach. It had been so long since she had actually tried to meet someone romantically! Having never taken a mate, it was a little scary to be crawling up the hill at the ripe old age of 9 to meet a practical stranger off the internet. Her pace was slower than normal, a combination of struggling up the hill and a slight reluctance to actually meet Cecil holding her back. However, as she crested the hill and her golden eyes adjusted to the site, a bright smile broke through her silvered maw. Sitting there with a very pretty pink tulip in his mouth was a wolf that was obviously Cecil. He looked just like his picture, maybe even better in person when her ageing eyes could take a better look at him from more angles. And he had brought her a gift! How sweet he was, and she hadn't even thought to find something for their first meeting. Approaching at her lumbering pace, the she-wolf realized just how adorably tiny the male was, her 2'10 frame towering over his. Perhaps she would get to be the 'big spoon' as she had once heard. "You must be Cecil, terribly sorry for not bringing a gift of my own. Next time I'll definitely bring one," There she went, already promising that the two sets of old bones would meet. She felt like she couldn't wait to get deep into conversation with the male, but like all things, Griz was almost eternally patient. Hopefully, the handsome older male would be just as excited to see her, just as hopeful that they would have a second date despite having only just met Salutary Cecil

- Cecil - "Together, we’re gonna rise with the morning light." The wind carried a nice chill, seeming to blow through the elder's body, caressing his bones and along with it, the sweet scent of his date. It was minuscule at first, slowly increasing as she hobbled closer, carrying cinnamon and apple, sweet and slightly spicy. Cecil rocked himself, using his momentum to push himself up onto his paws once more so he could turn to face Grizelda, his stomach twisting more violently before in excitement. His eyes fell warmly on her face elevating to her towering height, noticing the sprinkling of gray along her features, how she hobbled along slowly, and how his size hadn't perturbed her. Smaller males usually weren't attractive, hence why he hadn't found anyone to be sweet on in his seven years. Cecil placed his tulip on the ground before him, nudging it closer to the female with his nose before straightening up and wagging his tail. "You must be Cecil, terribly sorry for not bringing a gift of my own. Next time I'll definitely bring one," Already promising a second date, eh? Who knew all he needed to do was bring a pretty girl a pretty flower. He chuckled inwardly before speaking. "Grizelda, I'm glad to greet you in person finally. Your profile picture was a dream, but the real you, I must say, is better! No worries about the present, it was found along the way. I thought the pink would compliment your fur." The doggy grin plastered to his maw only seemed to grow wider, he was happy that his Tinder date looked exactly like her profile said, and she seemed just as sweet as honey. "Here, would you like to sit? Our old bones can't keep up with the pups like they used to. We should sit a while! And why don't you tell me a little about yourself to start?" He rumbled, bringing himself to fall back onto his haunches once more, patting the spot next to him with an ebony paw. Grizelda

It seemed that both of the silvering wolves were happy to see one another, "Grizelda, I'm glad to greet you in person finally. Your profile picture was a dream, but the real you, I must say, is better! No worries about the present, it was found along the way. I thought the pink would compliment your fur." The larger she-wolf almost blushed at the male's words, her tail batting him playfully as her creaky old bones made their way closer. "Oh, you're just trying to flatter me!" she playfully tossed at him in her slow tones. Her shoulders were killing her from the walk up the hill, so she was already looking for a place to rest for a while when Cecil spoke again. "Here, would you like to sit? Our old bones can't keep up with the pups like they used to. We should sit a while! And why don't you tell me a little about yourself to start?" Her croaky old frame gladly flopped itself down next to his, their mutually creaky bodies definitely both appreciating the break. Turning her gilded gaze over to his stocky peppered frame, she mulled over what she could tell him about her life. There were 9 long years of time to bundle up into only a few sentences, what could she pick out? "Well, I've spent the last three years or so without a pack just wandering, meeting with a lot of other rogues. I've met all types, but none of them were nearly as sweet as you, Cecil," Shooting the male an equally playful grin like the one he gave her before, Griz let her tail rest on Cecil's. The silvering she-wolf made her peppering date look absolutely tiny, but she didn't mind it at all. He was a little ball of charm, and one heck of a pleasant male to be sitting around with on such a lovely spring day. Salutary Cecil

- Cecil - "Together, we’re gonna rise with the morning light." A rumbling chuckle erupted from the smaller males chest as Grizelda's tail collided with his body, her words forming a melody in his ears. "Oh, you're just trying to flatter me!", She said. Cecil shook his head, "I'm serious! You're spectacular." honeyed eyes found themselves bashfully finding the ground beneath his feet. The butterflies in his stomach were still going crazy, though now he knew the date should go over well. As she flopped down next to him, he shifted slightly closer to her, then met her eyes, seeing the thought behind them. Obviously, there would be, after all, there were many years to fit into a short sentence. Though, he wouldn't have minded getting her whole biography. "Well, I've spent the last three years or so without a pack just wandering, meeting with a lot of other rogues. I've met all types, but none of them were nearly as sweet as you, Cecil, His cheeks flooded with heat. "I could say the same about you, Griz," he muttered, letting the tip of his tail flick up happily as she let her tail rest over his own. "Would it be too prying to ask what happened with your pack? I've been without one myself for almost all of my seven years. I left when I was merely an apprentice to my Salutary." Cecil almost whispered, slowly, lost in thought, thinking about his family before shaking his head and bringing himself back to the present.

She felt like a yearling again. Her stomach all twisted up in knots and her face feeling like it was on fire with just a few words. The grandmother-esque wolf moved her tail to intertwine it further with Cecil's as he muttered, "I could say the same about you, Griz." She wanted to lay her head against her date, but he drew in a breath as she was about to. It would probably be best to let him get his sentence out before she crushed him accidentally. "Would it be too prying to ask what happened with your pack? I've been without one myself for almost all of my seven years. I left when I was merely an apprentice to my Salutary," his tones quiet, almost so that the she-wolf who was a little hard of hearing barely heard it all. Adjusting her achy frame so that it laid in the grass comfortably, Griz prepared to speak. It had been years, and talking about it didn't upset her as much as it used to. "There was a war that broke out between my pack and another. I was the Beta at the time and we couldn't come to a peace agreement. We fought for a few days, but my pack lost and we could either become rogues or be Omegas in the pack that defeated us. I chose to leave and take my chances out in the world," her story finished with her gazing into Cecil's eyes, not exactly looking for a reaction, but merely taking them in. The knowledgeable pools of honey were warm like the weather. For a brief moment, Griz wondered what colour tulip would go with his fur. She would have to sort it out before the next time they met definitely. Rolling onto her side so she could look up at Cecil, she murmured towards him, "What about your pack? If you don't mind sharing that is. Being an apprentice must've been when you were much younger." The grass was much more comfortable than the harsh walk up. Quite content looking up at her date's smaller frame Griz cracked a small smile towards the male, sympathetic to whether he wanted to share or not. Salutary Cecil

- Cecil - "Together, we’re gonna rise with the morning light." Following the salt and peppered female’s action, Cecil laid himself in the grass alongside her, resting his body against hers and reveled in the warmth she radiated. As she spoke, his ears swiveled towards her, his eyes searching her face. It must have been a long time ago that she left her pack, so it didn’t hurt as much as it used to. He knew leaving a pack felt like nothing else. When had left his, he had no choice, his pack was taken against his will and he was left to suffer the regret that he hadn’t caught on sooner or helped. When their eyes met as she finished her story, he felt his heart stop, gazing deep into them seemed to show her life behind them, her puphood, her training stages, her love, her loss, everything about her and about life that made them both so beautiful. Cecil had to remind himself to blink and realized she had asked him a question. He had expected, had many years to learn to cope, so he also was not hurt by the memory but it brought a stiff chuff to his maw. “It’s actually a little,” he paused to think of the word, “morbid.” He figured that even though it wasn’t really a topic for a first date, he figured she might be able to stomach it. Though, deciding where to begin is what was causing him to struggle slightly, he brought his eyes to the horizon where the sun had fully shown itself, shining onto the grass and flowers, and the animals that occupied this area of the mountain. “When I was 6 months old, I originally wasn’t an apprentice under my Salutary. Harlow, that was his name, denounced any idea of an apprentice. So for a year I had trained under a hunter; well, failed at training under a hunter. I didn’t want to hurt anyone or anything, I always wanted to help those in need, had a thirst for knowledge of how to utilize herbs. That’s when my pack started falling ill. It seemed so simple, vomiting, lethargy, lack of appetite, but Harlow seemed to be working himself to the bone to save our packmates. They never recovered, dying from their sickness. Harlow seemed to switch his position on having an apprentice as well, he told me I would make an acceptable helper for him, but there was a gleam in his eye, malicious though his words were like honey. I took his teachings while trying to figure out how to heal the sickness myself, using my new rank to ask other packs for help, they helped me learn the herbs and their properties as Harlow told me to give herbs that didn’t quite match the proper remedy. I was too young to catch on. But one day Harlow brought me a fish, by this time, my pack only consisted of 3 other, very sick, wolves. A “nice gesture” though he knew I did not like fish. When I politely declined, he lost his temper, lashing out with words and slamming the fish on the ground. Dark red berries fell from its mouth, he had stuffed it with Death berries, to do as he had to my pack mates, kill me off as the demons in his head suggested. I ran from what was left of my pack, hating myself for not listening to my gut and running for help.” Cecil looked back to his date, the corners of his maw pulling back into an uncomfortable frown. “So, like I said. Morbid. I’ve learned to forgive myself though, and I’ve strived to do better by the wolves under my care because of it. It helped me learn and grow,” Cecil mulled words over in his head, unsure if he should apologize for changing the mood, but he had answered the question he was asked so he left it at that a moment to let her digest the story he had told before clearing his throat. He felt he could tell Griz anything, felt no need to hide things from her, he felt safe in her presence and decided he didn't need to filter what he said and that he didn't need to hide anything from her. @grizelda

She had to stop herself from getting lost in his eyes at the end of her story. For those brief seconds, time stretched beyond belief. Just with the simple connection of their eyes, she could almost feel her heart beating out of her chest. Maybe it was just her dying... she doubted it. Even if she was, Cecil smelled strongly of herbs, and had even advertised it on his profile, so perhaps he could be her lifesaver. How cheesily romantic, she mused. Not that she was complaining. As Cecil launched into the horrors that seemed to be his childhood, Griz leaned her head backwards, resting it against the back of Cecil's. “So, like I said. Morbid. I’ve learned to forgive myself though, and I’ve strived to do better by the wolves under my care because of it. It helped me learn and grow,” he concluded. Her larger frame twisted back into a lying position, gilded eyes looking over at her date with sympathy and pride. He must be so strong, to have gone through everything in his past but still be so sweet to this day. With a joking smile, she patted his frame lightly with her paw, "Didn't seem to help you grow all that much!" Laying back down, this time facing the same direction as him, Griz pressed her frame against his. Slinging her front paw over his frame, she snuggled closer into his greying fur. "I'm glad you made it through all that though," she murmured, scratchy breath rumbling out of her larger chest. She wasn't constricting the male, rather leaving him enough room to wiggle around if he so pleased, whether to just get comfortable, or to leave entirely. Salutary Cecil
