ROGUE VESPEN
Hanging back she let the elder decide on where to lead. Their destination was not far away and by the time they stopped Vespen still had no idea where to start. All she knew is she need to apologize for her more than distasteful behavior. Which was probably the best place to start; apologizing.
“Well…” shuffling her feet she took a big inhale, definitely feeling uncomfortable in this awkward state. “I have to first and foremost apologize for my distant and… disrespectful behavior. I meant no harm in staying quiet and I truly enjoy this pack!” Her voice raised in pitch, her own ears flicking to the back of her skull, warmth rising in her cheeks. She shut her mouth quickly, as if startled by her own rise tone and her quick speech. Taking another inhale, then exhaling slowly she started again.
“When I saw… him,” nodding her head towards the other albino. “He looked so much like my brother… and your home reminded me so much of the family I left, that…” her eyes searched for words in the trees, body shifting slightly before her rump abruptly hit the ground as if in defeat.
“I thought… I thought I might have been dead,” words were whispered, breathless as the reality of what she had just went through mentally hit her like a boulder. Slumping forward, she stayed like that for a few moment. Her heart was finally breaking. She had left her brother in an unknown area, and for what, another rogue?! Furious and hurt, she had lost her mind for a short moment. Blush hues raised back up to glance at Azaelia, she was truly a Goddess in this moment.
“I… Thank you, if it wasn’t for you and your family for taking me in and pulling me out of this head space… I’m not even sure if I would have realized how… broken?” questioning her choice of word she cocked her head, seeing if another popped into mind. “Not broken… but… lost. Yes, I was lost and your family pulled me up from sinking further into that existence. So, thank you.”
Feeling quite awkward with that, Vespen quickly rises to her paws. “I must go apologize to the others for my absent behavior. But… if the only thing that I am able to offer is an ear then I would like to return the favor one day. Please call upon me whenever and I will be there for you.”
Flashing the previous Alpha a smile she scampered away. Her body felt like flames from being so vulnerable, open, and embarrassed. She only just met this she-wolf and she treated her like a confidant. Azaelia must have been a remarkable Alphess to make a stranger pour their heart out.
Approaching the group, she gave a shy smile to everyone. Clearing her throat, “I would just like to apologize for being absent minded, I was so stuck in my head I was rude, to all of you, I am sorry.” she looked pointedly at the other rogue and then Uzumadi. At least she thought that was what he had said. “Oh! My name is Vespen by the way...
“...also I think sparring or a game sounds wonderful,” she ended, her voice started out strong before whispering out at the end. Feeling shy and exposed again, she looked to the trees again. Avoiding eye contact.

The first tones from either of the pair belonged to Ocean, "I know you." It was jarring, to say the least. The older male would've hoped that the General had remembered him, they had hunted the very moose that he was offering to his fellow albino. With a clear of his throat, the absolutely huge male started again, "I remember, you're an exceptional hunter. Azaelia and I were the first to encounter Somnus after it was established by the original alpha pair, parents of Eureka and Draco, and Luke who's leading his own pack now. We were a small family until they were born, and rogues, including our current beta, found the new territory. It seems Somnus has always been welcoming. After our alpha passed away, we went to war with a pack of coywolves who had caused a famine, and we lost one of our own. Afterwards, the original Alphess gave her rank to Azaelia here. She was exhausted, rightfully, and recently passed away in peace. Eureka was next in line, once she became of age. But save your pity. Whenever we endure, we rebuild. You're lucky to be a part of that process and this family. These are the strongest, most determined, and most caring wolves you'll ever know."
When Uzu had asked about the history of such a peaceful pack he hadn't expected to hear that such pleasantries were built on top of such devastation. Heeding the General's warning to save his pity, the gargantuan merely dipped his blocky head, mismatched eyes glancing downwards as he did. "I'm sure that with everything that you have all gone through that you've become tough, but to see you still so welcoming and accepting of others still is truly a gift. Thank you for letting me join this incredible narrative," the hunter's sincerity bled into his words towards the pair before a tiny voice drew the ex-Alphess away from the conversation. It took Uzumati a few seconds to realize that the voice belonged to the other albino, the unfamiliarity not hitting his ears quick enough for him to recognize its uniqueness. As much as his curious gaze wanted to follow her frame, he forced himself to look away, his gaze drawn back to Karasu and Wiggles playing in the snow.
"Hey, Oozoo, hey, Ocean. You guys seem upset. You know if you don't loosen up you'll get too stressed out to sleep and then if you don't sleep you'll be tired and if you're tired you won't be able to hunt properly or scout or fight as quickly. Sooooooo... Wanna play a little? Maybe spar? That way we can still be practicing?" the ever-so-happy voice of Wiggles broke through the slightly awkward tension in the air, a smile being brought back to Uzu's face at the nickname bestowed upon him by the wobbly male. Sparring was always an option to pass the time, and with the General present it was a great opportunity to learn new techniques and just to practice. However before he could nod his agreement to Wiggles' idea, the albino and Azaelia returned to the conversation.
“I would just like to apologize for being absent minded, I was so stuck in my head I was rude, to all of you, I am sorry. Oh! My name is Vespen by the way... also I think sparring or a game sounds wonderful,” her chime-like voice faded at the end of her sentence, as if she didn't think her input had that much affect on those around her. As she tried to avoid those around her, Uzu let a smile linger on his face. She was so unique, so odd, just like him. Had she experienced the same hardships he had? The same criticism from others who didn't know why her eyes were so different or why she couldn't stay out in the sun for long? "Nice to meet you, Vespen," was all that Uzu said though. She was already uncomfortable with everything going on around her, he would be met with a brick wall if he tried to prod any further. Time would help her relax and him find the words that wouldn't scare her away immediately.

Wiggles waited for the response that would come from Uzumati and Ocean, but just as Uzumati opened his mouth the strange new female rejoined them. Finally she spoke, apologizing for her absentmindedness and introduced herself as Vespen. Her voice failing, she ended with agreement towards his own suggestion of sparring, and while she spoke a smile was growing on his face. His energy was building up as he fought to stay attentive and not interrupt her, his body beginning to wiggle in place. She seemed shy and not ready to open up, but the male was practically vibrating at this point. Uzuamti was barely able to get out his welcome before the smaller male bolted up to greet her in his way-too-close way. His tail was was thumping and kicking up snow with each furious wag as he sat down in front of her. "Hello! Welcome! Nice to meet you! My name is Wiggles! I'm a scout! Oozoo has been waiting to meet you! You both look alike!" He spouted out all in one breath, moving to sniff her coat and pace around her. "You wanna spar? Ocean is real grumpy so I don't think he will wanna play tag... But maybe he will spar and eat with us later. He seems mean, but he's nice on the inside. He's like a turtle!" He wasn't being very quiet, in fact he wasn't being quiet at all. Wiggles wasn't one to whisper of others nor did he have strongly negative feelings about anyone. Why would he? Everyone was so nice to him all the time! It wouldn't be right if he was mean in return. "I'm really fast, so I can help you with agility if you need it! Oozoo is really big so we train sometimes to make sure he doesn't get slow with all that muscle." He snickered, rejoining the hunter at his side, beckoning Vespen forth. @uzumati Omega Vespen General Ocean

Truth be told, the porcelain she-wolf wanted nothing more than to curl up in the darkest corner of her den and sleep for however long unconsciousness could trap her. But hunger was a bitch, and its clenching pains were enough to force the exhausted Sentinel to make the trek to the Hunting Grounds. Aelin almost whimpered with relief when she broke through the tree line and saw the moose carcass laying on the ground amongst the fresh snow, her steps quickening as her stomach roared at her. Eat eat eat.
Aelin wasted no time in diving her muzzle into its opened stomach, fangs fishing for the best pieces of meat that she could find. The she-wolf didn't stop, barely even giving herself time to chew let alone breathe as she downed enough meat to sate a bear. Aelin finally raised her head from the moose's body once her stomach had been filled and her face had been stained a bloody shade of red. She licked her lips, incredibly grateful for the meal that she had been able to come home to. She would have to thank the hunters when she got the chance.
It was as she finally looked up that she realised why the Common Grounds had been so empty — almost everyone was at the Hunting Grounds. She felt her cheeks flush with embarrassment as she realised how rude she had been in going straight to the kill instead of saying hello to her pack members first. Aelin wasn't usually the type to be so impolite, but her gloomy mood had thrown some kind of blanket over her normally warm disposition, and she found herself having to force her signature gentle smile into the corners of her lips as she approached her pack mates.
The familiar faces were enough to provide her with some kind of comfort, even the stranger that Aelin didn't recognise managed to remind her that she could loose the tension that had ridden up along her shoulders. This was her home, these were her wolves, she could breathe. She was beyond tired and her bones were beginning to ache, she wanted to collapse in the snow and let herself be buried, the thought of loosing her ivory figure amongst a cold crystalline blanket being a surprisingly welcoming thought, but she was a female of composure. Aelin would keep herself standing tall despite the pups that she had lost, and she would keep the warm smile pressed into her lips despite the worry that throbbed in her heart for the male that had not yet returned. She would keep herself strong for the sake of the wolves who needed her to be.
The mention of sparring or a game was being tossed around between the likes of Ocean, Uzumati, Wiggles and the stranger. Exhaustion was wearing her thin, but perhaps sparring or a game was what she needed to keep her mind occupied. "Count me in," was all she said as she approached the group, being sure to give a polite nod towards the female she didn't recognise before she spoke in hushed tones to the stranger. "Nice to meet you. My name is Aelin, I'm the Sentinel of Somnus. If you ever need anything, you just let me know," she offered with a wink, more than happy to follow through with her promise for the she-wolf that had been welcomed into the pack. She'd always do the same for any member of Somnus.

ROGUE VESPEN
"Nice to meet you, Vespen," the words uttered way had her holding her breath. Their eyes met for a while, hers innocent and unaware, almost shocked. The only thing that snapped her from her mind was the quick brush of her whiskers against something. Snapping her chin back in surprise her eyes focused on Wiggles, the wolf to have saved her earlier. He was a joy and his smile was contagious as she gave into her own wolfish grin.
However, her moment of excitement was soon out as Wiggles let out something quite embarrassing. This wolf that could almost pass as her twin had been wanting to meet her. Instead of being shocked like she had at meeting his eyes, she gave him a eyebrow raise to tease him. Turning her attention back to the group, she listened to everyone.
With so many white pelts in a land of snow brought up a memory of her puphood. Prey and Predator. Looking Azaelia for encouragement she opened her maw to get everyone’s attention.
“Perhaps a game of skill? When I was young we played a game to test our abilities to evade and hide from predators, or in this case a chosen wolf sought out to find you.
For example, Ocean is it, he counts to 20 while we run and hide, attempting to evade Ocean. When he gets to 20 he will chase and find us. When he catches one person you have the choice of laying prone or becoming a predator to help Ocean find the others without giving away known information prior to being caught.
After a while a chosen safe person will howl. At this time all the prey will try to run to the safe person without being caught by Ocean. In this example, Azaelia will be the chosen safe person. When we arrive to her we must touch her to be considered safe. Those who are safe win the game. However, we won’t know when Azaelia will howl so we must stay hidden or stay out of the clutches of Ocean until her howl.
So what do you think?” Vespen finally finished her explanation looking to the others for affirmation and confirmation. Azaelia nodded, voicing her thoughts that she thought it was a good idea and that she would be the safe person. Looking around, she wondered who would take the role as predator.

| Azaelia. Former Somnus Alphess
"Well..." Vespen's voice was delicate, whispering in Azaelia's ears with timorous space. Azaelia was only inclined further, begging for the words to come out before they near choked her to death. She shouldn't have been so staggered to hear Uzumati come into this; Azaelia hadn't forgotten about Vespen's brother. She was beginning to feel guilty for pushing her assimilation so soon, but Azaelia had known no other life but her last three years in Somnus, oblivious to the world that others knew.
Vespen struggled to muster the words seeming to hold her captive in a dark corner of her mind, but the blossom of being set free, "thank you," was like watching winter turn to spring. Azaelia could not withhold her smile, and her heart began to beat like a child's. She hadn't heard the sincerity of those words since she was alphess, and for the first time since then she felt like she'd done what she came to Somnus to do, what Somnus did for her; save somebody.
At a loss for words, all Azaelia could do was continue sporting her bewildered smile and try to control the thumping in her chest. "I will be there for you," she heard in the midst of her wonder. Thump-thump and a beat skipped. Perhaps Eureka had said something along those lines before, or perhaps Ocean, but that string of words lacked familiarity.
"Thank you," she called quietly, maybe inaudibly, as Vespen hurried away. She shook her head while is arched towards the snowy floor, a smile pulling across her face, before she made her way to the others. She hadn't heard anything from the pack members during her conversation with Vespen, but it seemed she had stumbled into a game. She'd never played a game before, so she listened very intently to Vespen's instructions⏤very intently⏤and approved them with a nod that was far too professional for this situation.
Eyes then wandered to Ocean with the fiercest beckoning. He didn't have a choice, she said. Soon, her eyes were wide, gleaming with anticipation at the long-awaited sentinel of Somnus. Aelin had returned, but with no followers at her side. Slow footsteps took her to Aelin. She was happier to see her safe than disappointed to see her alone. Azaelia hadn't expected the pups to be found; they didn't want to be. She could have told Aelin that, but the sentinel's willingness to overcome her sadness proved she didn't need the lecture. She needed Draco.
"Welcome back," Azaelia said with an empathetic smile, sure to validate Aelin's somber mood. Saying anything more would have salted open wounds, so instead she faced her packmates with a gentle sway of her tail. She had no idea what she to expect of this game.

Wiggles was happy to see Aelin stroll on over to the group, expressing her own interest in taking a load off for a moment and playing a little game. They needed it after all this tension the pack had been under. Times were harsh lately, so Wiggles felt it was important to remind everyone that they don't have to be serious 100% of he time. He felt it was his duty to cheer everyone up. Who else was as energetic as he was? He loved to spread his positive energy as much as possible. He offered a quick grin to the sentinel before Vespen spoke up, listening very intently to her instructions for this new game. He loved the sound of it! And it could technically count as a practice of skill. It was perfect! The excited male reared back on his hind legs and pawed the air, similar to a horse. "That sounds like a lot of fun! If Ocean doesn't wanna be It, I will! I wanna see if I can catch everyone before they get to Azaelia! It's a good way for us to test our stealth and agility," he sang towards his superiors, as if he still needed to convince them to get in on the fun. He assumed his play stance, wide eyes darting back and forth to each of the members of the small grouping of the members, waiting for the verdict. Carefully, his tail wagged, the tip of his tail twitching back and forth intensely. @azaelia Omega Vespen @uzumati General Ocean Sentinel Aelin

As Vespen approached, Uzumati's brain wanted to focus on her. She had an amazing plan for a game, one that he was sure Wiggles would love inevitably. But he just couldn't focus. The massive albino couldn't help but feel like something was off. An odd scent caught his nose, one that he couldn't quite place it immediately. As Wiggles leapt into action energizing the group, Uzu gave him a fatherly smile. The younger male was always bubbly and energetic, letting no one keep him tied down. As Aelin approached, the hunter gave the Sentinel a dip of his head. He hadn't been able to talk much with the female before she left, but he wasn't going to be able to talk with her much more now. "I'm sorry everyone, but you'll have to excuse me. I need to step away for a few moments," Giving the ex-alphess, the General, the Sentinel, and the two other white subordinates an acknowledging nod, the albino giant stepped away. He was headed towards the borders to see if he could identify the scent that has ticked his nose. He was far out of eye-sight and deep within the hunting territory when pain flared up in his chest. Gasping, Uzu's gait faltered as his muscles clenched. His multicoloured gaze clenched shut as his heart seized. Stumbling into the snow, Uzumati's breath stalled, one last cloud of breath condensing in the air as the world slowly faded to black.
OOC: Sorry guys, I just haven't had any muse for Uzu for months. He was like writing for a slice of de-crusted white bread and I was going to kill him off in a later plot either way. @wiggles Azaelia General Ocean Omega Vespen Sentinel Aelin

Vespen was very happy to see that most was interested in her game, except one. Uzumati seemed to grow less interested by the minute before excusing himself. She personally felt that this was her fault, what with her earlier behavior. Should she deliver a personal apology?
Following after him, she only turned back as a forethought, "I'll be right back." With that, she followed after, he had already made it through the tree line and out of sight. Searching and following his scent, something changed. Having an albino brother taught her how to search through the white of snow to find him, so spotting the prone body of Uzu was easy enough.
Something was wrong. Very wrong. Running up she didn't hesitate to slam her nose into his chest, her body still as she tried to feel for him breathing. Moving her nose, she shyly dipped it in front of his own pink one, still nothing. He was cold and growing colder. Snapping her head up she let out a sharp, panicked howl. Oh she really did hope they didn't think this was her.

The new she-wolf never ended up sharing her name with Aelin. It didn't bother her too much, perhaps they were just shy? She would have to ask Uzumati or Wiggles for her name before the game started, a game which sounded quite interesting to Aelin's ears. It reminded her of the hide-and-seek games that she played with her brother before the world around them became so serious, it was a fun piece of nostalgia that brought a weary smile to the edge of her lips. The smile was all too soon extinguished as she caught the sight of movement coming towards her. Azaelia soon stood at her side, the she-wolf that had welcomed Aelin into her pack, the she-wolf that had provided her with a home. Aelin had always held a great amount of respect for the ex-alphess, and it was shame that overcame her as she realised that she may have let her down with the pups that had been lost to the wilderness. She couldn't bring herself to look at Azaelia, not wanting to bare the weight of the disappointment that she expected to find in the elder's eyes.
"Welcome back," her tone was smooth, warm even. Aelin finally looked to the female and was relieved to find an empathetic smile spread gentle across Azaelia's maw. She could have cried. Ever since she had called an end to her search for Weayaya and Yiska she had feared that her return would be met with anger and belittlement. She had failed at her role as Guardian. She had lost two of her pups. She had believed that this was something that would label her as a failure in the eyes of her pack-mates. But she had forgotten that Somnus was not so harsh in their judgment, and she honestly could have cried with relief as she realised that her family would not think less of her for something that was out of her control. The warm smile returned to Aelin's cheeks, the tip of her tail swaying ever so slightly. "Thank you," she replied quietly towards Azaelia, giving the she-wolf a respectful nod. She could not be more grateful for the pack that had provided her with such forgiveness.
Aelin returned her attention back to the topic of the game which would soon ensue as Wiggles began voicing his excitement, volunteering to be 'it' if Ocean did not want to. She chuckled lightly at the male's antics, a warmth beginning to blossom in her tired body as she began to relax slightly. But this mood was soon dampened as the ivory giant excused himself from the scene, the newcomer soon following after. Aelin furrowed her brows, concerned and curious as to why Uzumati had stepped away from the group. "Hopefully they will be back soon," she voiced her thoughts, as she couldn't imagine that this game they had planned would be much fun without all of them playing.
It was a panicked howl not too long after the pair's disappearance that sent Aelin's heart plummeting into the ground. The sentinel's gaze darted towards the direction of where it came from. "Something is-" she cut herself off as an entirely new yet familiar scent flooded her nasals, and she found herself instantly looking towards the Commons. It was him. Her heart began pounding in her chest as she took another deep breath, catching his scent again as if reassuring herself that it really was him...but, something wasn't quite right. Aelin inhaled again, sifting through all of the new scents that had suddenly entered the territory, and she was absolutely horrified to find dried blood mixed into the concoction. "Draco," her voiced rasped in panic as she immediately assumed the worst, wasting no time in letting her willowy legs send her speeding in the direction she knew she had to go.

| Azaelia. Former Somnus Alphess
Her eyes kept on Aelin the majority of the discussion, though they traveled frequently to Ocean as she beckoned him to participate. They still had yet to announce their relationship, but it would be an ever longer wait.
Azaelia hadn't been paying much attention to the game instructions since some alleviating scents, and some bewildering, traveled through the hunting grounds. She supposed she was the first to notice; she'd lived here for the majority of her life and could discern every minute alteration of the lands, from the variance of smells of Somnus life to signs of soil deprecation. She knew the moment Eureka and Draco had arrived, and from what it seemed, they brought with them several guests.
Nerves struck her stomach. She was sometimes allergic to the idea of having so many rogues around at once. It threatened the comfort she felt with her family, and it was a cultural barrier she knew she had to cross eventually, especially now that she wasn't in control of who's let in and who's turned away. And, Eureka tended to be quite generous.
She nodded, forcing herself to agree with the circumstances, for she had no choice but to comply. She had yet to see about the rogues and devise a fair judgement for each anyways. Ocean would surely be skeptical, though she was impressed with his performance at the borders towards Vespen.
Soon, dread was falling over here like a rainstorm. It was Uzumati, the star hunter, Wiggle's favorite pal, a potential friend to Ocean. Her heart rose into her throat and her eyes began to water as she approached his body, Aelin beside her in awe, but she was soon distracted by Draco's arrival. Azaelia, though, could not outweigh a family member's death with the love of another. This was far more pressing, and Azaelia chose to stay behind as the sentinel dashed to the commons. Her eyes watered more, disappointed in Aelin.
"How could this have happened..." Azaelia's voice was dark, unlike ever unless in light of Rage's, Shadow's, River's, the pups', and Roxas' deaths, and Ocean's disappearance, Draco's, Weayaya's and Yiska's. She could see Murdoch's figure arriving from the direction of the commons, and not far were Violet's and two more guests. She rushed to the salutary as quick as she could, walking him towards the body. Consequently, the information would be heard by Violet and the rogues'.
"There's been an accident. He was perfectly find and just..." Realization struck how easily somebody can disappear without a word. Her first thoughts were of Ocean, but she was soon trailing her eyes to Vespen. This could wreck her. She nearly discontinued with Murdoch.
"Please, if there's anything you can do." Hope still clouded her that Uzumati would survive. She needed this hope so she could protect Vespen. Azaelia looked regrettably towards the rogues. She wasn't so concerned with them being turned away by the commotion, but Somnus didn't need the reputation of a concentration camp. But in only moments, it was confirmed. Uzumati was dead.
She was torn between Uzumati's death and the arrival of the siblings. She was grieving and reveling at the same time, and as a result her mind was total chaos. Sharp pains pulsed in her head, like a migraine that had a conscience and clear motive to destroy her well-being. She closed her eyes. Gather yourself. Breathe. Speak.
"Ocean, Doc, please get Uzumati to the commons for a proper burial. It's all we can do for him." Her chest felt the weight of her sorrow and she could barely keep herself standing, and thoughts still rumbled like storms along with the pain in her head, her pupils dilating. Unable to function for some God-known reason, she looked to Violet desperately, beckoning her to take over the situation.
Blood dripped from her nose, onto the alabaster blanket below, as she made her way to the commons. But she would've been too far from the others for them to notice, and she was in too much pain to realize it herself. She felt like she was dying. Was she?

| | What Violet walked in on was simply not something she welcomed. Instead of there being happiness and cheer, once again Somnus was plagued with death and sadness. It hit her nose that Eureka and Draco had appeared in the territory, a few guests with them as well. Aelin went rushing past her, headed to the commons in search of Draco more than likely. Violet knew there was something between the two, she simply couldn't place what it was. But then the smell of death. It clung to the air, as did the rising sadness that came from the hunting grounds. Violet looked towards her two oldest friends, Azaelia and Ocean. They were there, and Azaelia rushing to Murdoch and she overheard, white ears focused and zeroing in on the conversation. Her heart almost stopped. Uzumati. Words stuck in her throat as she peered at the lifeless alabaster frame that lay on the ground before them.
Ocean and Murdoch would carry him away surely, preparing to bury him where all the other beloved pack members had been buried that had passed in the territory. Azaelia was looking at her, begging for her to take over the situation. Violet gave her a simple nod, worried eyes watching as the she-wolf disappeared to the commons. Something was wrong, she could sense it. She had known Ocean and Azaelia long enough to know when each was acting off, and the way the multi-colored female had disappeared so quickly worried the white she-wolf standing there. Looking over towards the others, she would have to worry about her later. Now she stood in front of rogues that she hardly knew, needing to diffuse the situation that had just happened only moments ago. The lifeless body of Uzumati being gone, she looked around, eyes frantically searching for something to ground her. Her mind was panicking, not quite sure what to do. Looking towards Corvidae, her mind snapped, clear as day. The male standing near her brought something out of her that told her she needed to act accordingly, and it snapped her from her racing thoughts.
"Please don't let this one event tarnish Somnus' appearance," She breathed, looking towards them. "Uzumati was a mighty hunter, and thus we shall give him a proper burial as we have for the many brave souls that have touched this land," She spoke, then getting to the point finally. "If you will accompany me to the commons, there are some pack members you will need to meet, specifically your Alphess," She spoke, lavender eyes casting over the one unfamiliar face that was there. She would need to learn his name. Looking towards Jolon and Corvidae she dipped her head. "I'm sorry the two of you were brought into the sight of that," She spoke, looking over the two of them. "Come, let's head back to the commons. I will give you a tour of the territory once things are calmer."

g e n e r a l • o c e a n a reckless wolf with a selfless interior
A groan brought forth by the fatigue of socialization followed the quick realization that he’d been dragged into the children’s game. Azaelia’s beckoning gaze, caked with unfaltering authority, strayed no further than Ocean’s blank, unsuspecting face in question of the game’s “predator.” How appropriately stigmatic. He had almost felt the ache of his eyes rolling into his head, but terrified of catching his unforgiving partner’s killing glare, he was quick to morph his expression into one more to her satisfaction. He saw Azaelia buzzing towards Aelin before he could register his own surprise and, to some extent, excitement. Her arrival was long awaited, though he admitted he never expected Weayaya and Yiska to return with her. The two strong-willed kids had no intentions of coming back, and he would have bet that they’d found their way home already, as long as it happened before the storms. On second thought, they’re probably dead.He faltered before he could address the arrival of the siblings, his face washed white with confusion and his limbs turning to vines. He would’ve toppled if his muscles hadn’t frozen. Chills crept across his back as he drew closer to the source of suspicion. There, Uzumati’s alabaster figure lay lifeless in the snow, an empty cocoon becoming of him—Ocean was certain the soul had departed. If he’d known any better, he wouldn’t have imagined the hunter’s shadow slowly drifting into the dense forest, but perhaps, astonishingly, Ocean was deliriously heartbroken. Azaelia could hardly put herself together. If she had ten more eyes he imagined them flashing in all directions, but instead her pupils dilated and tears formed. In the company of others, Ocean was stoic, but though Azalea tried, she lately seemed to be stumbling at every sharp turn. He could have noticed her bleeding nose, but he was fixed on her command. Hesitantly, he picked up Uzumati’s gargantuan body with the assistance of Murdoch and made way to the commons. He spared Azaelia a look of pity as he passed her and continued trudging through the snow, uncomplaining, though suffering greatly. - Exit to commons -

Jolon continued with his puppy-like game as they traveled, not really paying attention to the world around him, other than the trees and the scent of the prey animals scattered about, but when he heard new voices, his mind snapped to attention. Small, round ears pushed forward as he listened to a she-wolf, a couple years older than him, with different hues scattered on her pelt distracting him once more as he watched her leave the territory. Jolon's dark amber eyes traveled back to the scene in front of them as Violet spoke, a sort of sadness for the others of the pack took him over, the desire to try and cheer them up but not knowing quite how to do so overriding his mind. He did not know the wolves of the pack well enough to be able to cheer them up, and it only deepened the sadness he felt for them. Jolon obviously had not known Uzumati, but he was an overly sensitive wolf, and he could definitely feel the tensions and despair that was left hanging in the air by his death. Jolon listened as Violet spoke, relaying to them a bit of information, at least what she felt was necessary for the two to know about Uzumati, and when she mentioned that the wolf was a hunter Jolon's head dipped respectfully. His amber eyes closed tight as he said a few very quiet words, something that had been a custom for his family after a kill was made, it was the only way of honoring the dead that Jolon knew. The silver male had never seen another dead wolf with his own eyes, so Jolon watched as the hunter's body was taken away, and he followed Violet as she made her way back to the commons. ~Exit to commons~ Apprentice Corvidae Beta Violet Salutary Murdoch @wiggles Omega Vespen General Ocean Azaelia

Everyone was getting ready to have some fun, getting involved in the mood and picking rolls for the new game Vespen had proposed, but something came over Uzumati, and he very abruptly excused himself from everyone. Wiggles watched him curiously, and went to follow, but his place was taken by Vespen herself. She trotted after the brute, and only minutes later a panicked howl resounded through the hunting grounds. Everyone sprung into action. Bodies moved for the sound, the scout included, hurrying to help. Was it an attack? Perhaps one had become stuck or injured? Unfortunately, neither was the case. Upon arrival to the scene they all found a scared Vespen and a dead Uzumati. Azaelia whispered incredulously, hurrying to Murdoch to see if he could do anything to revive the hunter, but even Wiggles could see that his soul had already left his body. He was silent, his tail slowly dropped to hang limp, his usual goofy expression wiped into a blank slate. No tears came, no whimpers left his lips, no anger at the sudden disappearance without so much as a goodbye, nothing. Ocean heaved the heavy body onto his shoulders and began trudging through the snow towards the commons at the command of the ex alphess, and the smaller creamy-white male followed behind the crowd, slowly blinking and, for once, becoming silent. Somnus had become quite desolate, hadn't it? Was it some punishment for crimes the pack had committed in the past? Were they in a cursed land that seemed bent on killing off the pack? What had happened to warrant the cycle of diminishing returns the pack had been seeing for some time? Maybe they needed to go live somewhere else. Maybe Wiggles needed to do his job as a scout and look for somewhere better for his pack to go, somewhere pretty and wonderful where everyone could smile again and they could have deep relationships and not worry about one wolf dying suddenly from disease, attack, or other. Somewhere where there could be a nice river or a lake so they wouldn't have to worry about any more fires, and they could fish if there wasn't enough land prey around. Somewhere with big flat rocks that soak up the sun so he and others could nap on them when it was warm. Something flickered in his eyes, while another light seemed to die. It was time to put Uzumati's body to rest. EXIT TO: Somnus Commons Azaelia General Ocean Omega Vespen Sentinel Aelin @jolon Apprentice Corvidae
