Alphess Semira
be stronger than your excuses
With the wintery chill slowly becoming a diluted memory, Semira had set her expectations high as the hunting party stopped within the Southern Hunting Grounds. But even with the welcomed coming of spring, the plains were still barren compared to the lush and bountiful offerings of habitats such as the Lubruscan Hunting Grounds.
A small herd consisting of five scrawny looking deer were mingling through the prickly brush, probably lost from a herd already long gone, desperate and weakened thanks to their low numbers and unfortunate need to munch on less-than-desirable foliage.
Semira's tail twitched along her daughter's rump, who would've been standing beside her. A small gesture of her muzzle towards the cluster of prey was all she would give as an indication to their target. Tangerine eyes shifted to look over her shoulder at the wolves that had followed, finding the likes of Dis and Rizeal congregated behind them. Semira huffed lightly, disappointed that they weren't equiped with more readily available wolves. But these deer should've been easy, and this would be the perfect opportunity to give Tikaani an opportunity to attempt a leading position within a hunt.
Optics slide down to the girl at her side. "I'll let you assign roles for who will be doing what. If you feel confident enough in taking the killing blow then by all means, take that opportunity. Otherwise I will be the one bringing it down in the end. The rest is up to you." The Alphess spoke in quieter tones in an attempt not to alert the deer that were peacefully gracing on whatever they could find.
She was interested to see just how much Tikaani would have remembered about properly preparing for a hunt like this based on what she had experience first-hand and from watching on the sidelines as a pup. Semira wasn't expecting an absolutely flawless plan, but she was hoping her daughter had learnt enough to do well without too much of her help in this instance.

The smile on her face from the commons had faded once the sheer amount of organization she needed to do in order for the hunt to go successfully hit her. As her mother's tail hit her flank, Tikaani's bright amber eyes caught sight of a small herd of deer. Certainly, they weren't the fittest creatures. Bringing back any meal would make Tikaani feel extremely proud of herself, but in front of however many new faces her father and siblings would accept, it might not look like enough. Alas, she only had four mouths to work with, so taking down any more than one doe wouldn't be smart. "I'll let you assign roles for who will be doing what. If you feel confident enough in taking the killing blow then, by all means, take that opportunity. Otherwise, I will be the one bringing it down in the end. The rest is up to you," Semira's reassurance made Ti relax a little bit, her rigid shoulders falling loosely as she tried to think of the best plan. Nodding to acknowledge her mother, the teen scanned each of the wolves she now had to direct. Not one of them were over 3 feet tall, and they were all definitely more suited to running than to fight off anything. Luckily, it seemed that the tiny herd of deer didn't have a buck to guard them, or if they did he was suspiciously away. That made Tikaani's job all the much easier. Approaching the trio of wolves so that she didn't have to raise her voice much, Ti began her plan, "Mom and Rizeal, you two go to the right and prepare for an attack. Dis and I will go left. There's one younger doe, she has a clump of sand stuck to her flank, that we'll target. Separate her from the herd and aim for her heels and shoulders on whatever side you end up on. Once she's weakened, I'll take the killing bite and hopefully, we'll head back to greet some new faces!" The young she-wolf's eyes had darted over to her mother, still looking for her permission to take the killing bite even though her mother had reassured her that it was fine. "Any revisions or questions?"Alphess Semira @dis @rizeal OOC: The hunt was rolled for and will be a success with one or a few minor injuries!

Walking along, Dis was happy to feel the gentle touch of spring starting to run its fingers through the air, though she knew it would soon enough turn to a blistering heat in these lands. However, after being in the cold for so long, some warmth was a welcome change Dis could handle. While walking, Semira looks back at Dis and Rizeal, with not too joyous a face. Dis wonders for a second if Semira is not happy enough with her performance, but the silvery female quickly shakes off the thought, letting her logical mind tell her that the Alphess was just checking on the two. Dis felt uncomfortable to walk too close to the two. It was almost like they weren't wolves right now, they were a moment; a mother daughter one. She did not wish to interrupt, especially on a matter she could not relate to. Soon enough, Semira ahead spots a herd of small deer. When Dis sees as well, she sees that they are small and thin, though she is not surprised as winter has just passed. Unfortunately, it would have to do. "I'll let you assign roles for who will be doing what. If you feel confident in taking the killing blow then by all means, take that opportunity. Otherwise I will be the one bringing it down in the end. The rest is up to you." Semira speaks to her daughter, and the young Tikaani addresses all of them. "Mom and Rizeal, you two go to the right and prepare for an attack. Dis and I will go left. There's one younger doe, she has a clump of sand stuck to her flank, that we'll target. Separate her from the herd and aim for her heels and shoulders on whatever side you end up on. Once she's weakened, I'll take the killing bite and hopefully, we'll head back to greet some new faces! Any revisions or questions?" She starts eagerly. Dis is glad the little female is stepping up to the plate so graciously. Dis nods as an acknowledgement to her role, but still waits for Semira to pitch in corrections she may have or for Rizeal to speak as well. When they were all ready, Dis would be up and ready and walking with Tiikani to the left where the teenager assigned them, her eyes on the doe with the sandy flank, and ready to do her role as best as possible so as to prevent anyone, especially the Alphess' young daughter, from injury. Rizeal walked behind their small hunting party, eyes searching around, although her mother hadn't assigned her a lead role she would still prove herself. Rizeal would rather lead an actual pack anyhow, this little hunting party didn't need to concern her. As they spotted several deer Rizeal sunk closer to the ground not wishing to alert them. She listen to her mother dictate for Tikaani to dish out the plan, Rizeal listened carefully. "Any revisions or questions?" Rizeal rolled her eyes, never would she seek such validation from lowly wolves. "Sounds good." She said firmly, but also made sure to be quiet so the deer wouldn't spook. She carefully crouched next to her mother, sneaking off to the right of the deer, she patiently waited. Her eyes locked on their target watching as the small deer grazed unknowingly. The final moments were being wasted indulging itself, how pathetic.

Alphess Semira
be stronger than your excuses
A proud smile twitched across her face as Tikaani spoke, happy to see how far her daughter had come in the last few months. If Semira closed her eyes for long enough, the mother could envision that peaceful time of her little babies pressed against her belly with eyes and ears closed, oblivious to the harsh world that lay outside their den. Now she stood with two of her children, ready to watch them continue on their path towards adulthood and a greater life. Semira nodded as her daughter finished speaking, saying nothing as she gave a flick of her tail towards Rizeal before beginning to advance towards the deer, Tikaani and Dis splitting off to get in their own positions.
The hunt began like any other, they picked their target and spilt her off from the rest of the group, each of them running up towards her hocks and snapping at the malnourished legs that carried her with little energy. Semira pushed herself up towards the deers shoulder, snapping at the bony body while she heard Tikaani yip from the other side of the deer. "Rizeal, you're too close to—" thud, "Rizeal!"
A yelp of pain echoed through the Hunting Grounds and shattered her heart, knowing it had come from her daughter while she watched her other child veer closer toward Rizeal, who had obviously taken a fatal blow to the head from the deers hoof. Tikaani slowed her pace, about to backtrack to try and save her sister. Semira's eyes grew wide as she watched another deer, panicked by the sudden appearance of a wolf in front of her, a cry erupting from both as the deer trampled Tikaani's tiny frame while tripping and breaking its own neck.
Semira stopped dead in her tracks, barking for Dis to do the same before she ran back towards the body of her daughter. "Tikaani!" She cried, almost collapsing next the girl, horrified to see her body laying at an incredibly unnatural angle, unmoving, dead. Semira wasn't even sure if she was breathing anymore as she jumped to her paws and ran back even further to assess the damage that had been done to her first-born, praying to anybody who would listen that she would be recoverable. She found another unmoving body, blood still gushing from a horrific split in her skull. The she-wolf gagged at the site, looking back to Dis instead of the bodies of her dead children, trying with every ounce of self control she had in her body not to burst into tears as she realised she had failed two more children.
"Take the deer back to the Commons." She instructed, nodding towards the one that had killed itself and one of her daughters. Despite the tragedy that had just occurred, they couldn't afford to let a perfectly good meal go to waste. "I'll be there shortly," she added before approaching the smaller frame of her daughter, sliding her body over her back in an awkward fashion before approaching the body of her first born, both relieved and disheartened to see that most of the bleeding had ceased before she grabbed her scruff in her mouth, just like she had done when she was no more than a little pup, before she took their bodies to be buried alongside the brother they had lost only a few months ago.

No one had any revisions to her plan! The young scout was much happier than she should've been, but this was her first big task. She had only ever participated in hunts with her mother, but now she was trusted to lead the whole thing. Her sister's displeasure was to be anticipated by the soft-spoken she-wolf, but Rizeal's bad attitude didn't exactly lend her favour in leadership. With no one offering any other complaints of advice, Tikaani nodded to commence the hunt.
Everyone was in place to begin, and the young scout sounded off a short howl to get the hunt started. Following her plan, the young she-wolf darted to the left and landed a blow on the doe's shoulder. Shooting a glance back, a streak of worry shot through her as she saw her sister's position. "Rizeal, you're too close to—Rizeal!" she screamed, watching her sister's head snap back in what left like almost slow motion. Without thinking, she turned back with tunnel vision. The hunt was abandoned as she was consumed by grief and fear of what happened to her sister. As she turned, her gaze locked with the form of a deer only mere feet away barreling towards her. With no time to react, a blinding pain erupted over her entire body as they collided and her vision faded to black.
