Beta WingnutIf I Don't Understand, You are the one at fault For the first time in months, Wingnut left the Sorelus borders. She still carried her rank with her, but on a mission to scout out potential future territory, she had to leave the borders. With orange eyes scanning the terrain as she easily loped along the plains reminding her of the Brush Lands where Sorelus had began, Wingnut was always on alert. She was no stranger to rogues. The last one to approach them in a place like this had been truly insane, so the presence of those not quite right in the mind was wholly possible. She had no clue if she was passing over the territory of some rogue, alas, scent markings were the only true distinction between territory and land. Steller hadn’t intended to run into another wolf. But, with the mix of being stupidly distracted and confident, she did. Through the forest trees in front of her stood another wolf. A pack wolf, Steller noted decidedly, from the scent. Steller didn’t know if she’d been seen yet—it was more than possible to have been spotted, she was a large wolf after all.
The wolf across was smaller than herself—aside from height, of which the other was larger. So, easy to knock down—if she landed a hit, that is. Smaller generally meant faster and more agile, something Steller certainly didn’t have on her side.
Attempting to lock eyes with the wolf, Steller let out a loud snarl. She held her tail high, her body tensed up stiffly. Her fur bristled in an attempt to make herself look even bigger.

Beta WingnutIf I Don't Understand, You are the one at fault The Beta's eyes locked with a rogue, their hackles already raised and seemingly ready to attack. Mirroring her actions, the Beta raised her hackles in response. If this rogue wanted conflict, the Beta had no problem in giving it to her. They were facing one another, so any sort of attack she made would need to be fast.
Darting forwards, Wingnut tried to nip at the other she-wolf's shoulder. *If she succeeded, she would pinch the skin of the other she-wolf's left shoulder between her teeth briefly before taking a few steps back to leave room for the other she-wolf to react. *If she couldn't connect her simple nip, Wingnut would continue with her momentum past the rogue, turning around as quickly as she could after a few paces. This would leave a small window where the Beta was vulnerable to attack, but at least the rogue would know that Wingnut wasn't afraid to fight back. WORDS:175 || TAGGED: @steller || NOTES:

Steller, lacking most ability to dodge quickly due to her size, met the nip. It wasn’t a serious injury but it did make her yelp quietly. The pain wasn’t awful, a slight stinging feeling. It also lingered and so could be reason for her next attack to fail. When the other she-wolf let go, Steller took a short moment—both to recover from the pain and warm herself up to her attack. This moment allowed the other wolf to take a few steps back. It potentially left her mildly exposed but another attack so soon after the previous seemed unlikely. Trying to give the other little time to manoeuvre, Steller stormed froward, using her shoulder—the same one that was nipped, hence why the slight pain is plausible to cause her attack to fail—to barrel into the other.
*if she succeeds Steller would attempt to pin the other down, wrapping her strong jaws around the other’s muzzle.
*if she fails Steller would use the push she already had to spin around and attempt an attack on the other’s back, sinking her teeth in.

Beta WingnutIf I Don't Understand, You are the one at fault Successfully, the Beta had darted in, nipping at shoulder skin through plush fur. Intelligent eyes watched the rogue intently as she took a few steps back, knowing that an attack was likely going to come her way. After all, this was a conflict. Bracing herself with a square stance, the cinnamon she-wolf felt the impact of the rogue's shoulder into her torso, knocking the breath out of her as her frame hit the dirt. Weighing less that the other female, Wingnut stood little chance of staying upright after the hefty blow. Thus, she had allowed her body to crumple into the hit, going with the force to try and reduce the amount of pain stiffening her side. Jaws quickly snapped over her muzzle, a muted growl finally being drawn out of the usually robotic Beta. One of her most damaging weapons was now useless, beads of blood being drawn across her face.
Naturally, being pinned beneath the heavier she-wolf wasn't the most desirable position. However, Wingnut had noted that she was a few inches taller than the rogue, so her legs were longer. Winding her hind legs close to her body, the Beta rapidly shoved them away from her, aiming to hit the rogue solidly in the stomach, just below the ribs. *If she succeeded, Wingnut would squirm beneath the rogue, trying to rip her face free (had it not already been released) and remove herself from the pin by rolling out from under her. *If she had missed her mark, Wingnut would thrash her torso around anyways, hoping to affect the rogue above her in some way that would allow her to slip out of the pin. *If she couldn't escape from the rogue's pin at all, the Beta would fall still, a growl still rumbling from her chest up through clamped jaws. The other’s legs connected firmly into her stomach, Steller let out a bark in pain, muffled by her jaws. At first, the pain made her bite pain harder. However, the combination of thrashing and the slowly increasing ache in her stomach made her release the other’s maw.
Stumbling back on legs that didn’t quite want to coordinate themselves properly, Steller addressed the wound the now struck across her stomach. A small scratch to a pack wolf, perhaps, but quite a big deal to a wolf that had to protect themselves, hunt for themselves and heal theirselves. She briefly allowed herself to be vulnerable by licking the wound, back turned to the other in a defensive way. She growled in a low, deep pitch.

Beta WingnutIf I Don't Understand, You are the one at fault Powerful hind legs connected with the she-wolf above her, paws disappearing into stomach fur as she pushed upwards. Pain of her muzzle being torn open by the teeth of the rogue flared up on her face, but the Beta persevered in order to get out of the pin. With her face being released and her body rolling out from under the rogue, the Beta resumed her defensive square stance, blood dripping off her face and stinging her muzzle.
Leaving the rogue to bathe her wound, the Beta growled right back at her. The instinctual sound didn't reflect her mood - if she had a mood at all. To her, it seemed that the fight was over. There was no use continuing to fight without cause. She wasn't going to attack again. *If the rogue didn't continue the fight, WIngnut would growl out monotonously, "Leave. This is no one's land." *If it seemed like she was about to get attacked again, WIngnut would keep her muscles tense and ready to move incase she was attacked. Steller, hunched into herself and defensive, mostly ignored the other wolf. She was in pain and pissed off, but unwilling to continue fighting—there was no longer any point. She was—admittedly, only mildly—wounded and rather bitter about it. She cast an angry glance at the other wolf, before getting to her feet. She gave one last snarl before turning tail and trotting back into the trees. It did leave her back exposed to the other, but they had expressed their unwillingness to continue the fight. Steller would just have to find another area to patrol. She got the feeling that any further wounds she got out of this fight would not be worth the land.
