The humid scent of the Misty Lake clashed against the Paladin's nostrils once again, as both packmates walked into the area. Zachariah enjoyed this part of Noctis the most, always so peaceful, so full of life. A smile got drawn on the male's face, a slight melancolic feeling took over as he remembered bringing Tam here when he was little. Those were dire circumstances but just thinking about how far the brat has come from there just made the Paladin's heart even warmer. "We here! Good ol' fashioned Misty Lake..."Zack too a breath, let all the oxygen in, all that natural and free air going directly into his lungs, and looked at the Hunter superior by his side. "Last to the lake is a rotten bone!" he shouted, challenging his friend to a race. Better to catch fish from the inside than from the outside, right?

The trek through the trees was peaceful, and small talk was exchanged between her and Zachariah, mostly something having to do with the pack, or something funny they had seen whenever they hadn’t been spending time with each other. Ater naturally gravitated towards the male, seeing that he was one of the first real friends she had made in the pack since she had joined. Sure, all of her pack members were her friends, but she had a harder time opening up to them than she did with Zach. He had been so honest and caring that it had been hard to avoid opening up and coming to like him. They had finally made it to the Misty Lake, a place hardly touched by the Noctis wolves. There was hardly any relaxing to be done over the past couple months. There had been far too much work needing to be done in the pack, and even if there wasn’t, Ater was off hunting for the betterment of the pack’s food supply. She knew that the pups had been well fed, as well as Seven, and that she could be content with. Good memories had been made here though. She had heard this is where Luke had told Wren that he loved her, and this was the place that most had found to be the setting for a romantic evening. Or at least, that was rumored by the few that were in the pack. She didn’t know much about Noctis before she had joined, it had always remained a small pack from the time that she had joined. And she was happy with that. She wasn’t a huge fan of large packs, and found herself enjoying the quiet and small pack that Noctis adapted too. There had been far too much tragedy involving the neighboring pack - Somnus - and she couldn’t imagine what it was like to live in such a large pack; from what Luke had said about his home pack. She was glad nothing like that happened here, and that they didn’t have to necessarily worry about anything drastic happening. While she was lost in her thoughts, she had missed Zach’s first sentence, but the second one brought forth a challenge, and she was never one to back down from those. Her eyes darted to him, and then back to the lake. She took off immediately, her small limbs bringing her up to the Paladin quickly. He would be much slower than she was, especially with their size difference. As she pulled ahead, she gave a small howl, happy to know that she went splashing into the lake first. But then another howl came, and it was not from the male that would soon be standing with her in the lake. Ater froze, the howl chilling every bone in her body. That was Luke’s howl. And it was shrill with terror and urgency. She had never heard such a noise in her life, unless death was involved. She looked to Zachariah, the look on her face almost like she had seen a ghost. “We need to go,” She quickly said, splashing her way through the lake before taking off towards the border. She just had to jinx it didn’t she? -Exit to Eastern Borders- Paladin Zachariah

"No! No!," cried out Zachariah in between chuckles, as he realized his efforts to catch up to female were closely next to futile. Ater howled in victory as she jumped into the lake, water flying in all directions, even splashing against the Paladin himself. He couldn't help but smile at the sight of the Hunting Superior, seeing her laugh and play, just having fun alongside him. His blue and amber eyes shining, reflecting the sunshine back to him while drops of water fell back down to the lake from her gorgeous grayish coat. To him, it seemed that things could not go awry as long as she was around, like nothing bad could happen. Then, like thunder and lighting cutting through the sky, a piercing howl could be heard throughout the territory. Luke?
"That can't be good," Zach said, looking at the general direction of the sound with a worried expression forming upon his face, as the Paladin remembered the last time something like this happened. Sasha's rejection, Zero and the pup's deaths, Tamlin crying his eyes out. The male turned around, just to find that Ater had some bad memories of her own stored in her mind, that now ran loose all over the place. With a terrified look and the iniciative to help in whatever way she could, Ater ran out of the lake following the sound, closely followed by Zachariah.

Look at the stars. The great wolves of the past look down on us from those stars.

The enthusiastic burning ball of fur raced through the woods, tail flailing in the howling wind. Hoshi felt a thrill of excitement like none other before, knowing that another wolf had taken interest into herbs too. Although maybe the healer had been a little too enthralled and absorbed in her thoughts of how the hunt would turn out, that she had accidentally left her companion behind. Stunned, the Salutary swooped to face the back, tail swishing. "Tamlin?" she called out uncertainly into the distance, her expression riddled with confusion. Emerald eyes narrowed upon the damp woods, ears twitching at any noise. Instead, all she could hear in the distance was the rushing river, and the splattering of a waterfall further ahead. No paw steps. She squinted, trying to recall if she had heard anything about the warrior back in the Commons admist her dreamy visions. Before she had any time to continue with the adventure alone, or head back to find the warrior, a hollow, and desperate howl erupted throughout the territory. Hoshi's ears straightened, eyes widening in shock. It's familiarity struck the healer with horror, remembering the times she had heard Luke's frantic call. Zero. Aedion. Their bodies had been lying motionlessly on the soft moss. There was no mistake - something bad has happened.
Alarm bells ringing in her mind, Hoshi took off back to the Commons without a second thought. She needed to get to the borders fast, but first she needed to get to her herbs collection. Canomile - soothes and kills pain... Horsetail - in case there was an infection... Dried oak leaves would help too...And oh, cobwebs for some patching up. As far as Hoshi was concerned, the herb hunt could wait. She didn't want to lose another packmate again.
