Okay, the title is a lie, there's much sadder, but I think this one really touches the heart. ^.^
Anyways, this is basically just the History of the character I just sent an application in for, Kina.
Kina was born to rogues, the only she wolf amongst four other pups. Her father ended pup caring for the pups more than he should have, for her mother was a restless soul, hardly one to let a few pups keep her in the den. As soon as the litter was able to open their eyes, their mother started leaving the den, for longer and longer periods of time. Eventually, when the pups were nearly a year old, their mother completely disappeared. Their father went to find her, but he never came back either. The pups dispersed, three of Kina's brothers sticking together, while Kina and the remaining brother went their separate ways. Kina trained herself, using what little her father had taught before he left. Eventually, at 1 1/2 years old, Kina met a kind wolf around her age. He introduced herself as Sen, and asked if he could accompany Kina, and she flat-out refused, appalled that a stranger would dare to ask her such a thing. Despite her refusal and many protests, Sen followed her. He always strayed just far enough away that Kina couldn't quite reach him, yet never was so far away that she couldn't hear his footsteps. Each night when Kina went to sleep, he'd lay down at his normal distance, but when Kina awoke, she would find him closer and closer every morning. They only exchanged a few words the first couple days, but as time passed, their conversations grew lengthier, and Kina could feel their connection growing closer. Eventually she allowed Sen to hunt with her, walk next to her, and sleep so close their pelts almost touched. Before she knew it, Kina had fallen in love. Sen admitted that he had fallen for her the day they met, which must have been obvious. Why else would a wolf follow a she wolf like he had? Kina expected pups the following spring, nearly a year after Sen had begun following her. Both wolves were overjoyed, though Kina couldn't help feeling a bit doubtful. What if she turned out to be a terrible mother, like her own had been? Later, Kina found out that motherhood was not in her future... She birthed only one, tiny, stillborn pup. Kina was devastated, and so was Sen. He disappeared on her, ran off in the night without warning, not unlike Sen's mother had. Kina waited days in that same spot, waiting for something that would never happen. She got sick of waiting, and searched and searched for her mate for months. When Kina was nearly 3 1/2 years old, she found him. Frolicking in a grassy field, laughing chasing squealing pups. "Daddy!" one squeaked, while a she wolf called “Sen, my sweet!” What a player, Kina had thought, bitterness rising in her. She thought they had loved each other, but the moment Sen found out Kina couldn't give him pups, he was gone. Their love meant nothing if he couldn't pass on his good for nothing genes. Kina ran from the horrid sight, Sen and his new family not even noticing her. Kina's emotions have been boiling and cooking from one betrayal after another ever since she was born, now she understands that you can't trust anyone. Everyone's a liar, and everyone's a fake. Life, love, and laughter are all a beautiful lie. Death, hatred, and scorn are the ugly truths, the only truths in this world.
