Golden eyes gleaned momentarily in thought as Knox attempted to assign time alongside travels. The two never seemed to sit well, did they? While his own had been a matter of months, time slipped by seamlessly between travels, shifting temperatures serving the only indicators of its passage. For a moment, ashen eyes widened as he attempted to fathom the foreign concept of years. He only had two of his own, but his friend had spent the entirety of that in travel and perhaps a bit extra. What possible wonders could he tell him? Softly, the short, fluffy slips of his trail hurled into action. What stories had been hewn for his disposal? How many peculiar, marvelous oddities materialized before his burnt gaze? New wolves! Strange plants and places! Natural phenomenons! He desperately hoped that wherever Knox went, he took him with him - there was so much, too much to be told to be crammed into a miraculous chance meeting - he needed to know more. If he never hoped to come across half of his inventory, he could at least envision it vividly enough. All he needed were details: the colors, the plant's shape and patterns, the soil's touch. The basics.
A flaxen gaze found his own once more with relative ease, a salmon tongue slipping out between thick, blackened jaws. "I'd love to have company!" He began, harkening to his paws with an eager, newfound energy. "I know this land fairly well, but I like moving so I haven't stayed in one place too long, but if you want to explore a type of place, just say it and I could probably take you somewhere to that description." The little hybrid could hardly mask his delight, fighting only for one futile moment to still his quivering hindquarters. Anywhere? All he needed was to describe the place, and Knox could take him there? What should he say? Where could he even begin to describe the places he'd only heard in passing? "My - my Momma used to tell me about a place where the water stretched out endlessly, and was bluer than any stream," he began, his eyes aglow with giddy, whimsy eagerness. "And where the air was fresh, and smelt of salt, and the soil was soft and clung to her pelt. There's birds there," his tone picked up pace as he recalled her words, happiness dancing within each soft, waning syllable. "With wingspans longer then you and I put together. They're called-" he scrunched his nose for a moment, attempting to recall a name. "Dolphins!" He yipped in triumph. "And there's fish there too, long and sleek and grey. She says if you have the legs to swim out to them, they'll turn and dance and chatter beneath the beat of your paws. I think they're called - albatross."
"And the stars there are - beautiful. The best she'd ever seen. You can see every comet, every constellation's reflection." He paused, giddy anticipation gleaming against grey. "Can you - can you really take me there?"

Knox could only wag his tail in turn as his new found friend seemed to grow more excited with each word he spoke. Finally someone who seemed to be on par with Knox's own excitable energy. A large smile ripped across his mouth as Astro described the place he wanted to visit. "I know exactly where to take you!"
With that Knox turned around to face the entrance way and shot out like a bullet, ebony paws carrying him over the earth at great speeds before realizing his own companion might not be able to keep up. As he moved to slow down and see where Astro was, he was surprised to find his new companion neck and neck with him. A loud yip of excitement left his mouth as he moved to nip at a russet shoulder. Having a decent running partner had Knox bounding away with more energy than he had, had in weeks. Probably living alone and lack of interaction had finally gotten to the older wolf-dog, but now, with a bright companion on his side he was happier than ever.
Knox would take Astro to the only place he knew of with his description. One of the few places he lingered at the longest. He could still taste the first time he tried drinking the salty water and with a laugh at his memories he brought the pair to a slow as the made their way to a tunnel opening. "Stick close," he said teasingly, swishing an ebony tail in his friends face before making his way into darkness.

Winter Timeskip It was times like these where the lupine longed for her warm fur bed by the fire the most, though she hardly wished for her old life back. She had more than embraced the freedom of a wolf, quite enjoying the independence and exploration. Winter had fallen upon them like a huge blanket, removing almost all life - now hidden under the vast terrain of snow and slush. Even the tree's looked dull and bleached, no trace of green on their long cold branches. Her newfound cave served little protection from the cold. It remain damp in there from the moment she had arrived months ago, though now more icy. Paris was subject to slip and make a fool of herself around her friends every morning. On the contrary, she really couldn't complain. Far in the back of the cave, the group maintained protection from the harsh nightly winds or routinely snowstorms that whistled ominously past. On top of that, they were not covered in cold snow every night like some other wolves out there.
While still a little weary, Paris could at least claim Theo and Lucifer as companions of hers. It felt odd calling them friends, but admittedly they had stayed with her for a few months now spare conflict. The tiny coywolf had joined the pair soon after leaving originally, and Paris could hardly complain about that. It made her feel almost safer knowing there was another oddball around her. Similarly, Paris felt as ease not sleeping her days away alone with Lucifer. Not because she was scared of him, but rather scared of the odd flutter in her chest that she occasionally felt. Peri refused to sleep near him, and prefered to go out together with the two rather than him. Understanding and controlling her feelings weren't hardly her strong suit. So, instead she chose to ignore it all and get on with her days.
While her odd coat stuck out like a sore thumb as she moved, Paris still mused over the fact that she could hide well within the snow, her fur perhaps appearing as an ugly patch of soggy dead grass. There she laid, as always looking rather dominant at the caves entrance in the snow. Minutes ago she had uncoiled from Theo's side, uncomfortable due to the waves of heat trapped in her thick fur. It was refreshing outside, but again she was growing unforgettable as the snow melted beneath her. While food sounded decent, Peri wasn't up to hunting this morning. She had learned to survive off of smaller quantities with winter around and prey scarce, often allowing her friends to eat more when they hunted. Still, the plump vole that had scuttled out of is home near the forest's edge looked tempting. Paris slowly rose, orbs sharp and focused as she moved forward. Only, the sudden crunch of snow as soon as she laid a paw down had the little thing fleeing to shelter in an instant. Peri stood and frowned. She also wasn't very good at hunting in snow, apparently.

It was his third winter. And nothing scurried away the autumn leaves and the edible grass like the smothering winter snow. It sat itself on tree tops and mountain peaks and let the entire world praise all its glory. Lucifer felt fully honored to witness another winter, even if the whiteness made him a dark brown dot among st the snow. He couldn’t help but be grateful to watch the trickle of snowflakes that fell from the sky above. That was what he was doing. Sat on the edge of their cavern he looked to the outside world that was more cruel and unforgiving then their home. He couldn’t help but wonder if wolves were out there, dealing with the relentless cold. unaware of the protection the trio have been given. He hoped if there were any wolves, that they would find this place of refuge like he, Paris and Theodosia had. Lucifer exhaled a sigh. He seemed to have had a relapse on his sleeping habits again. For a few weeks he seemed to be sleeping soundly, but the trouble reappeared last night, and led to his morning position as he enjoyed the icy winds. A strain of his neck the male looked back at the huddled bodies, glade he had followed Paris here, and glad that Theodosia had rejoined them. They all worked well together and were well prepared for the winter. No matter size difference he got on well with Theo, treating her like a younger sister that he pushed himself to look after. Especially with her smaller size he wouldn’t let the hybrid fall into harm’s way, and knew Paris would hopefully do the same. But honestly, Lucifer didn’t fully know his stance with the wolf-dog. He avoided thinking anything more of her then that of a friend, but the signs and signals never went away. The way she handled herself, and beautifully strived for perfection caught his attention. But Lu could see her attempts to press for distance between them, not wanting to believe he was hurt by the fact she did, but he promised to himself that he wouldn’t look for anything that came close to what he had felt for his previous long gone friend. And so far, he had kept that promise. Finally the sun had slowly nudged its way up from the horizon. A warm light trying to make its way through the numerous clouds that cluttered the sky. It was then that Lu caught the soft crunch in the snow, his mind drifting back and his gaze wondering towards the form of Paris. He paused. Watching before he finally greeted her. “Good morning Paris.”Offering a kind nod as the words rolled off his tongue with that deep voice of his, before his eyes wondered over to Theodosia and back to Paris. There was quite a gap between him and her as Lucifer sat on one end of the cave opening, but he didn’t need to speak any louder as he asked. “Have you ever been up those mountains?” His eyes looked to the giant peaks in the distance. “I’ve only dared to imagine the view from up there.” He mused.

It was no surprise that Peri wasn't the only early bird this morning. She observed that Lucifer, or many males it seemed, were the most restless at these times, quick to take it upon themselves to guard their belongings and spectate. Paris was no belonging to her friend, but it struck her odd that she acted the same. The lupine sat once again, having forgotten the pesky vole she had miserable failed at catching. Her small tail curled protectively around herself as she eyed Lucifer's bulky figure, the cold nipping feverishly at her skin. The brute stood his ground, not daring to move any closer. While appreciated, Peri couldn't help but savor over the fact that his dark pelt probably trapped heat well. Frankly, Paris was tempted to drag Theo out so that she could warm up some. It was evident that winter wasn't exactly her favorite season.
The wolfdog offered a welcoming smile to her friends greeting, tracing his eyes up to the distant white hills as he continued. “Have you ever been up those mountains? I’ve only dared to imagine the view from up there." Paris rolled her eyes in amusement. She was all too familiar with the evils she experienced up there; a true wolf like Lucifer would never understand. " The real question is, have you ever dared to imagine what's beyond them?" Peri shook her head with a sigh, shaking the fact that she once belonged to a human far beyond the peaks. Yet, this land seemed so secret and guarded that wolves knew little to nothing of anything more than their lovely wild lives. They knew not of anything more dangerous than a bear, or perhaps a moose. She could only imagine how naive she would have grown up to be if she didn't experience what she had. "They're not all that majestic. There are just some mean wolves up that live up there that don't take kindly to hybrids," the lupine continued, a shy smile forming on her pretty features as she searched to meet Lucifer's eyes. Would she ever tell him or Theo of her past? Would they ever dare to ask?

" The real question is, have you ever dared to imagine what's beyond them?" Her answer earned a curious blink from Lucifer. His eyes warm and subtle, they edged away from the cold mountains and onto the soothing tones of Paris. Her soft sigh left him intrigued. Funnily jealous in a silly way as he wished to have ventured that far as had the hybrid. " They're not all that majestic. There are just some mean wolves up that live up there that don't take kindly to hybrids," His smile didn’t waver. Inclining his head towards her he opted to change her view. “Ah. But now. Such mountains have no relations to the wolves upon them. They’ll remain beautiful with or without those wolves.” He did nothing but give a single pause before he continued. “Just as an animal whom is a mixture of two different species will also remain beautiful with or without those intolerable wolves.”
He hadn’t opted it to come out the way it did. His tongue had worked itself on its own behalf, and it left Lucifer to dart his gaze away. Though his words had come from a place of belief. As Lucifer thought all things in nature were beautiful and deserved their own praise. With some things more beautiful than others. But the male did nothing to explain his thoughts, and instead had chosen to form another question to rescue himself… and Paris. “Besides the wolves. What else have you seen?”He asked politely. Slowly looking back to the mountains with his face, less readable than before

"Ah. But now. Such mountains have no relations to the wolves upon them. They’ll remain beautiful with or without those wolves - just as an animal whom is a mixture of two different species will also remain beautiful with or without those intolerable wolves.” Peri was taken aback. Did he comprehend the complement he had just laid down? The lupine immediately searched his gaze, but he shielded himself quickly, leaving Paris embarrassed on the fact that she even dared to look over. Mahogany tipped auds narrowed back near her skull, nervousness flustering through her skin as she shuffled awkwardly. Should she thank him? The silence was almost more intolerable than any goofy reply she could muster. Peri opened her maw, eyes searching as she contemplated what to say, but alas she was spared by Lucifer - who had rerouted the subject.
She quickly hid her gaze as he brought his eyes back to the mountain peaks. She couldn't bare stealing a glance at him now. But did he really find her attractive? She longed to question further on the idea, but pride and her girly insecurities forbid it. Paris turned her attention instead to the brutes question: her personal experiences up there. The hybrid shyly looked to the ground. She didn't like to think of her past... but she didn't want to imagine how much tension would arise if she made a bigger deal about not talking about it. Her ears narrowed even further, pupils contracting as she thought back to her mother. Her tail lashed in irritance as she began, " You wolves a born into a much kinder world, believe me. And none should dare cross far over the mountains - they are what stand between humans and this paradise," her orbs warily flickered to steal a glance at him, hoping he didn't appear too interested. " I was born to a human. They use dogs as their slaves out there. Or perhaps their loyal companions. Maybe there's something beautiful in the relationship, but I see a lack of freedom and gullible innocence," Paris paused, a low rumble humming in her throat as she glared off. " What matters is the humans are ruthless. They killed my father, a wolf, with weapons stronger than ten bears, and I will never forgive them." The lupine huffed, tearing her gaze away as she tossed away the memory. What was worse, Lucifer would never remotely understand her frustration and concern. Because of this, she decided to spare his sappy apology for what she had been through.
"Do you know how to hunt in the snow? I haven't quite mastered how to keep quiet," the she-wolf got to her paws finally, stepping gingerly into the white powder as she hopped Lucifer would join her.

" You wolves a born into a much kinder world, believe me. And none should dare cross far over the mountains - they are what stand between humans and this paradise,"
Her rather harsh declarative sentence quite suddenly caught him off guard. Meeting her gaze with a rather thoughtful one of his own.
" What matters is the humans are ruthless. They killed my father, a wolf, with weapons stronger than ten bears, and I will never forgive them."
That clearly cited the end of that conversation. The wolf tore his gaze away, guilty that he had mentioned it at all. He wished she didn't harbour such negative feelings, wanting to change them, dissolve them. And yet he had no understanding of what she had gone through. And in turn. Couldn’t do anything about it. Maybe he could talk to her more about it when he knew her better.
Lucifer released a gentle sigh, eyes only lighting up as she suddenly asked for assistance. In something, he could at least acknowledge himself as being good at.
"Do you know how to hunt in the snow? I haven't quite mastered how to keep quiet,"
A smile displayed itself on his face as he stepped out with her. Padding forward towards her with excitement bubbling in his chest. “Yes, I've done so before. I'd be happy to show you” He responded eagerly before lifting his nose to the sky, inhaling scents that passed by. Prey was not too far away it seems. Lowering his head he gracefully collapsed his form into the deep snow, rubbing his thick fur, neck and head against the cold ice, and gently thrusting some in Paris’s direction in small fun.
“Come on. This way.” He chuckled shyly. Galloping off in the scents direction. He’d show her once they were closer.

Sleep never came easily for Bishop and rarely did he sleep through the night when he could catch it. Pressure sat on his chest as he clenched his eyes shut and air as hot as fire blew in his face as the demon that followed him sat on his chest, leeching his breath from his lungs. Bicolored eyes flew open, meeting the beady pitch black ones of the fox as it leaned its body forward, bringing its face closer to him, snapping it's jaws and he reciprocated - gnashing his teeth and growling - causing the thing to evaporate into the air. It was gone, but the pressure was not and neither was the pounding in his chest. His eyes fluttered before he forced himself up from his sleeping spot in the cave that he and his siblings had found, grunting before stalking out to the opening and pacing. The fox returned, sitting smugly on a boulder to the side, high pitched snickering ringing in Bishop's ear as he tried desperately to ignore the sound. He hoped Crimson or Eulaila would wake soon before he passed out, breathing ragged and his world spinning before him bringing him to sit on his rump in an attempt to still the world around him. Once night had fallen, so too did the ebony haired male, but only after he and his younger siblings had come across Clearings Cave, the rock formation providing perfect shelter form the elements as well as being perfectly unoccupied. Crimson walked himself round in a circle a few times before plopping down onto the hard and cold ground, though no complaints came from him, this was better than sleeping out in the rain or snow. Red eyes closed shortly after he settled, a deep sleep falling over him, he was tired after the journey they'd taken. It would seem his sleep was not to be a restful one after all. shortly after he had fallen asleep the sound of his brothers ragged breathing woke him, he seemed to be in a state of panic judging by the sound, tired red eyes opened again, black ears pinning back. "Bishop, calm down, nothings there." the ebony male said in a calm tone, even humoring his brother as he picked his head up to confirm he didn't see anything tormenting him. Protector Bishop

Sleep was the only time Eulalia really felt at peace. For the last three years, it had been the only thing she looked forward to, especially in the beginning. When Faylin’s memory had been fresh in her mind, when every breath was like inhaling glass, slipping into the sweet numbness of sleep had been a welcome reprieve. Now, now that her sweet face had faded in her mind, image growing fainter with the passage of time, it sparked - at most - a horribly dull ache in her chest. The intensity of her grief was gone, and yet the depression remained. At times she had to remind herself that she still had her Crimson, her Bishop, and though they were mere moons to Faylin’s sun, they brought light into her world all the same. Crimson led the way into the dank caves with a surety that he always possessed, pawsteps firm enough that she can follow in their wake without question. With the death of their parents he had seized the roll of leader among them as if born into it (though in his mind he almost certainly was). Neither younger sibling had ever contested it; where Crimson led, they followed. Bishop seemed content so long as they kept him suitably distracted from the demons that plagued his mind. His fox. If only it had physical form, she could snatch it up in her teeth like any common vermin and let its death rattles ease Bishop’s mind. The world didn’t have easy solutions like that, though, so she was limited to comforting words and touches. When the oldest among them finally chooses a spot to settle down, she immediately curls herself against Bishop’s blind side. Mismatched eyes peer dully into the dark, watching as Crimson falls into sleep’s embrace, followed by her twin. Only then does she allow her own eyes to shut, a shuddering sigh escaping her as her head drops to her paws. Unconsciousness brought relief, but not for long. Low growls and snapping jaws jerk her back into wakefulness, and she quickly rolls away from the oaken brute’s side as he begins to thrash. Eulalia would not be the next victim of his outbursts, that was for certain. The slender bitch stumbles to her paws, steps clumsy with exhaustion as she follows her brother out of the den, dead eyes showing the first spark of life (concern) as he paces relentlessly. Bishop calm down, nothings there. Crimson’s deep baritone seems to have some affect on the second brother, as he abruptly sits. When they had first come back together, Eulalia had approached him with delicate steps, hesitation apparent in every limb. What if he lost himself again, broke her like he broke Faylin? She soon got over such fears though, value for her own life slipping away to be replaced with value for his, for Crimson’s. It is without pause that she brings herself to Bishop’s right side (always the right) and presses her smaller form against his to ground him in the here and now. ”And even if there were something there, it could never separate us.” She intones quietly. The ebony female had been travelling for awhile, taking occasional rests in between. She had followed some of the Rockland wolves to hunt for a bigger game, but while crossing the rogue lands, they met with a pack of wolves that were moving in to their new territory. Sorelus.A pack Mira had never heard before. Perhaps her adventurous family had accidentally missed out a certain area in their explorations, or maybe Sorelus was a newly-established pack. A little taken aback, Mira was afraid that they might rip the four of them up, given the size of the pack. However, the pack didn't show any signs of aggression. Instead, their Alpha welcomed the four of them, extending the pack's friendly invitations to join them. Without missing a beat, Edon, Valencia and Moose padded towards the huge group of wolves. Mira, on the other hand, didn't take a single paw forward. She had no intentions in joining Sorelus. She only had one pack in mind - Ferus. Politely, the lady rejected the Alpha's offer, hoping that the pack wouldn't turn against her. It was risky, but she couldn't bring herself to be loyal to any other pack except Ferus. Fortunately, no harm was done. With a swish of her tail, she turned around and parted with her new-found company, heading towards a random direction. Once again, she was all alone, surrounded by the so hateful silence she had already grown used to. Her paws were sore from the frequent changes in terrain, and her limbs ached with exhaustion. What should she do next? She wondered if she should give it another try again. Maybe this time Ferus would accept her. The last time she tried joining the pack, no one was there at the borders to entertain her. But first, she needed rest. In the distance, Mira spotted an opening in a rock formation. The two and a half year old she-wolf began to make her way towards the warm shadows, a place where she would probably make her temporary home. Upon entering, she was hit by the mixed scents of a few wolves, all similar in smell. She wasn't the only one to find this cozy hideout. "Uhm...hello?"she called out uncertainly, listening to the echoes bouncing off the walls. It was one deep cave. Hopefully, the wolves here were friendly. As she continued on, she heard the vicious snapping of jaws and menacing growls. She felt her heart skipped a beat. Swallowing, she halted for awhile, afraid to see what was making those noises. Uncertain about what to do, Mira let curiosity get the better of her, and began to take slow, cautious steps towards where the sound came from. Carefully, she took a peek around a corner. Before her were three wolves, two males and one female. All three of them were lying on the floor, one seemingly in a panicked mood. He took in ragged breathes, wheezing a little. "Bishop, calm down, nothings there." the darker pelt he-wolf comforted in a soothing voice. Mia felt her heart thumping wildly against her chest. Alarm bells were ringing. Did the Bishop-fella knew she was there? Was he frightened because of that? ”And even if there were something there, it could never separate us.” the she-wolf added. Ears tweaked, Mira leaned over slightly, accidentally exposing her amber eyes a little. She wanted to walk over and help calm the anxious wolf down, but was afraid that she would make the situation worse. Assassin Crimson Protector Bishop @eulalia

Crimson laid his broad black head back down against the cool ground of the cave with a huff, the moisture in here made it a little bit hard to breathe, not to mention now that he was awake he would have trouble falling back asleep for a little bit, hence the huff he had given. How was he supposed to keep his pelt sleek and shiny and his muscles limber if he couldn't get his beauty sleep? red eyes narrowed as he went through the frustrated motions, but it wasn't like he could fault Bishop for his night terrors and visions, he only wished things had been different for all of them. Crimson pinned his ears back as his sister comforted Bishop, red eyes looking around the cave before zeroing in on amber orbs that had not been there before, taking a deep breath he registered the scent of the female, and his ears perked straight forward, a soft growl emitting from the eldest's broad chest. "Who's there?" the entirely onyx wolf stood, taking cautious steps forward, he placed himself in front of this siblings and the stranger, lips pulled back in a protective gesture, the scar he had along his muzzle moving along with the rest of the black skin around it, his hackles rose, then his ears pinned again. He was the oldest and took his role as their protector very seriously.

Had she leaned forward too much? "Who's there?"A low growl escaped the maw of the charcoal-furred one. Taken aback, Mira felt herself jerk a little. Although a little unsure, Mira decidedly poked her head around the corner, revealing her entire snout. With cautious steps, the daring one approached the trio. The last encounter with another wolf wasn't that bad, and that was what gave her a little more courage this time. "Mira." she introduced herself, trying to maintain a calm tone. "I mean no harm. I was just looking for a place to stop by and rest. And I came across this cave." She looked across at all three of them, letting her soft gaze rest on the one thrashing about on the ground. "I'm-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare-scare anyone." she lowered her head, feeling guilty. Maybe she was the cause of the panic attack after all? She didn't know what to do. How she could help. Whether she should help. "Is there anything I can do to help? I'm-I'm so sorry." she apologised once again. "I can leave too if I'm bothering all of you."Assassin Crimson Protector Bishop @eulalia

“Bishop, calm down, nothing’s there,” Crimson muttered, half asleep. If only spoken words calmed his mind and diminished the fox that pestered him, he only knew the comfort of himself and his eternal tormentor. Though his siblings helped, Crimson’s voice cutting through the incessant chatter of the flaming fox to his side and Eulalia’s presence beside him, it pulled him from his visions for a short time before they continued. A flame burned inside of his brain, making him want to repeatedly slam his head against the cavern’s walls, hoping to shake the horror loose or to lose consciousness. The latter had been preferable recently. Enormous paws come to settle at each side of the chestnut colored he-wolf’s head as he lowered it to the ground, eyes clenched shut in a failing attempt to drown out the world. He needed to get a handle on things, needed to be in control, though it seemed the times he was in control dwindled into the shadows. Every good day he could recall quickly got engulfed in the darkness that was his mind. Feeling the cold of his surroundings, he lifted his head, the throbbing dissipating with every step his sister took towards him in an effort to comfort him. He was glad he had siblings who never thought less of him, not even when he had taken Faylin’s life, not even when he blamed himself for the misfortune that seemed to follow the dark family. “And even if there were something there, it could never separate us.” The soothing voice of Eulalia chimed in his voice, similar to a melody one would sing to a pup in a nursery. The tones calmed his heart, the erratic beating slowing to a resting pace and he could no longer hear the blood rushing through his veins in his ears. Bicolored eyes peeked up from the paws that once covered them as he straightened his back and raised his head to its proper position. Another female voice called out into the dark, she had likely witnessed Bishop’s meltdown, and he prickled at the thought of an outsider sneaking up on his little family so easily. As usual, it took no time for Crimson to assume his self-given title of protector, placing himself in between the possible threat and his siblings. “You scared no one,” Bishop huffed, slightly offended at the idea that she could scare him as he shook his head and narrowed his eyes to the corner of the cave where the wretched fox curled itself upon a boulder. He made no other mention to her on whether he wanted her to leave, he didn’t much care whether she stayed or left; ultimately, he left it up to the counsel of his siblings.
