Clearings, where the forest thins out and the leafy shrubbery is replaced by grass, are the ideal hunting grounds since it's where one can find the most diversity in prey. Without undergrowth to hinder movements, it is also easy for a predator to sight, surround, and navigate to the kill. Deer are often seen lingering at the edges of the open field and on occasion elk can be found wandering the vicinity, though a single wolf would prefer to go after small game. There are also many rodents, like moles, squirrels, lemmings, and rabbits, and birds that feed off the insects. Foxes often appear here as well, keeping the rodent population in check. Guide to HuntingSeldom SeenHard to CatchSmall GameLemmings, Snakes/Lizards, Game Birds, Rabbits, Rats & Mice, Squirrels (When it comes to small game, the player can choose whether or not their wolf makes the kill. Please keep in mind that a wolf does not make a successful kill every time, usually a best two out of three. Also, please note the territory you are hunting in and the prey listed. Please do not roleplay otherwise unless given permission by the Alpha(s). Please give adequate details and length for lone small game hunts.) Large GameWhitetail Deer, Elk, Moose(When it comes to larger game, a minimum of three wolves are required to start a hunt. A Random Number Generator will be used by Alpha(s) to declare if the hunt was a success or not. If the hunting party does not consist of an Alpha, please PM them with the hunting details so they can respond in turn. Large game hunts cannot be finished in less than 4 posts.) CompetitionBrown & Black Bears, Red & Silver Foxes, Wolverines, Coyotes (The presence of other predators during large game hunts will show up at random intervals by the use of a RNG by the Alpha(s), unless requested otherwise in PM. After Ozmond had bumped into her with oddly friendly mannerisms, she had invited him to the hunt too. The more the merrier after all! In all the time she had known Ozmond, he hadn't seemed like the friendliest of wolves. It was awkward for a few seconds before Wren had agreed to him coming with the called for trio and the Alpha's siblings. Maybe he was trying to lighten the mood as Wren did, but it just felt alien coming from him. Either way, Wren supported his efforts. Hopefully, Aili and Ater had followed suit. Wren would feel a bit embarrassed coming to a hunt with only one wolf, and one that she hadn't called for in the first place either. As she caught up with Luke and his siblings, she let out a little bounce of excitement. Coming to this part of the territory always posed risks, but with planning and good execution, hunting was like a game for Wren. Stepping into the hunting grounds always gave her a buzz of energy. But, the presence of Luke's siblings gave her a bit of nerves as well. Firstly, he branded her as one of Noctis' best hunters, which added a level of pressure, but then hunting with two Alphas and either a Beta or a Delta, it was an honor but also a test. If she messed this up, it would haunt her forever. Well maybe not forever, but she didn't want to disappoint Luke, especially while everything in the common grounds was going down. With that in mind, she decided to get to work. Turning her nose to the air, Wren drank in the scents around the hunting party. The most common scents of deer filled her nose instantly. She knew that there were moose and elk around the hunting grounds occasionally, but if she wanted a successful hunt, it would be smarter to just go for the deer. It seemed that they were downwind for the time being, so that was an advantage. If Luke wasn't in the middle of a conversation with his siblings, the relatively small she-wolf would pipe up, "There's a deer herd to the west that we could go for. We're already downwind." Wren's tail couldn't help but wag behind her as she laid out the bare skeleton of a plan. Of course, more still needed to be established, but sorting out what they could hunt was always a good starting point. Alpha Luke @ozmond @aili Hunting Superior Ater Alphess Eureka Alpha Draco

| Luke had left the common grounds, and led his siblings and the wolves that Wren had chosen to the hunting grounds. It would be nice to hunt once again. It seemed that he was so caught up with pack affairs and preparing for the pups that Seven would bear that he had not taken the time to hunt with his pack. Instead he had spent more time helping his mate, and settling pack tensions than anything else. Luke was glad to stretch his muscles, and get to work. He came to a halt at the beginnings of the hunting territory, turning towards Wren who would be the one demonstrating her skills in hunting. He had already caught the scent of deer, as the breeze brought it by, floating across his nostrils as cranberry eyes took in the herd that was within their view. Glancing towards Wren, she had seemingly noticed as quickly as he had. Good. She was sharp and ready to apply her skills. Giving a nod to Wren, he looked towards Draco and Eureka, whom had followed him. Eureka was definitely a runner, not someone who would take down the kill, but most definitely someone who could assist in separating the target from the herd. Draco was although strong, rather slow and would be better at taking down their target than chasing it.
Luke himself would assist his brother, and Wren would assist Eureka in the chasing. However, he wasn't sure who Wren had picked to come with them, so he would want to listen to what she had to say about hunting, as she knew the skills of each wolf better than he did. He could provide a firm analysis, but Wren was in the hunting grounds more than he was, and thus he would let her come up with the plan. "I think that's a good idea. Scout ahead and find a target of your choosing," He said to the she-wolf. He would wait patiently for Wren to do so, and then come back. Looking towards Eureka, he smiled towards her. "How is life in Somnus?" He asked her, his voice happier than most. He hadn't taken the time to actually sit down and talk with her when they had met at the borders, as there was simply too much happening at the borders and in the commons to actually converse. And right now, while Wren took the time to formulate a plan, he could catch up with them a little.

Within moments, her plan was put into service by Luke with the statement, "I think that's a good idea. Scout ahead and find a target of your choosing." With a bright smile and a nod, Wren promptly whipped around and trotted towards the deer herd that she had scented. Going off past hunts, the huntress knew that she either wanted an elderly doe that would be easier to catch, a couple of young deer to feed the whole pack, or if she was feeling risky, the buck. But she wasn't in the mood for risk-taking, not when there was already enough tragedy and devastation in the common grounds. As she drew closer, the blanketed she-wolf slowed her pace and began to conceal her presence. Creeping through the underbrush, Wren lowered her already considerably short frame until the tips of her ears barely stood above the shrubbery. For the next few minutes, she observed the herd's dynamics. As expected, the mothers with their young ones were huddled towards the center of the swarm of ungulates. They would be difficult to flush out and were protected by the buck as well, so it would be smart to steer clear of them for now. Spotting the male, Wren scanned him for any injuries that could make him easier to take down. If he limped when he walked, if there were puncture wounds from fights with other bucks that could show weakness. If the buck was weakened, he would prove to be an easier target than one of his does, as he would likely stay behind to battle with the wolves than to simply run away with the rest of his herd. Her eyes fell last onto the outliers of the herd, the weakened or elderly that hung behind the rest. Typically, their meat was stringier, but they made an easier target. Slinking back away from the herd, Wren checked the wind direction again, making sure that her position wasn't being revealed to their dinner as she retreated. The wind still patted her face, bringing the scent of deer to her rather than her scent to the deer. On the way back to her Alpha and his siblings, as well as the wolves she had chosen to bring along to this hunt, the huntress warmed up her muscles with a gentle lope. She allowed her legs to stretch out and carry her almost effortlessly over the terrain. All the while, she was formulating a plan in her head. The pillar that was Luke's brother was the first form she spotted when she approached the entrance to the hunting grounds. The rest of the wolves soon came into view, and Wren slowed her lope to a trot to catch the small bit of breath she had lost on her adventure. A solid plan had formed in her head, and now she was ready to relay it. Naturally, Wren waited for whatever conversation had been going on between the siblings to end before she began speaking. "Sorry in advance for not knowing your names," Wren started off with a smile, dipping her head to Luke's siblings, "So in the herd, I spotted a few elderly does, and plenty of healthy adult deer. If we split into two teams, we can have one team distract the buck and the other target either one of the healthy does or one of the elderly ones. If we go for an elderly one, it will be easier, but the meat will be tougher. So I was thinking that the team to distract the buck could be your brother, Ater, and Aili. They are powerful and large and small enough respectfully to block off and dart around the buck to keep him occupied. The rest of us, Alpha Luke, your sister, Ozmond, and I would go after a doe. I assumed you would want the killing bite, Alpha." Wren finished off her plan with a cheeky grin towards Luke before she turned to each member of the assembled hunting party and gave them the same smile. Hunting just brought the she-wolf so much joy. Her tail waggled behind her and twinkling eyes awaited a response to the plan she had laid out. Alpha Luke Alphess Eureka Alpha Draco @ozmond @aili Hunting Superior Ater

Asking Eureka to calm down would be like asking a fire not to burn--nothing could wipe a vast smile off of her bright face. She became even more jolly when one of the hunters trotted up alongside the siblings. Eureka felt so welcomed! She gave her a big smile, hopefully one that wasn't too invasive. Luke stopped a few moments before the hunter announced a deer herd upwind. The scent reached Eureka's flared nostrils the moment she was within the precinct. Her body was just as excited as she was to be venturing out with her family. Once the hunter had gone down to scout, Luke initiated a conversation. Finally! Eureka took a step towards him, enjoying his familiar warmth for the first time in a while. She responded with much enthusiasm.
"Things have really leveled out since Ocean came back," she began with a tongue numb with brewing adrenaline. She was nearly out of breath before the hunt had even begun. "I've been trying to build a new dynamic ever since mother passed. I think Somnus needs to see change before we can move forward."
She looked out across the terrain, admiring the beauty of somewhere other than the nucleus of all bad things that had happened in Eureka's life. She wanted more than anything to change the face of Somnus, especially for Azaelia, Violet and Ocean, who had been through everything. Eureka wanted to build something new and healthy for them that would also provide sanction for future pack members.
"I can tell things are rough here right now," Eureka's tone shifted, her voice quiet and solicitous. "But I can also tell you've built a strong family. Mother would be very proud of you. I am."
She leaned into Luke's flank, enjoying his presence for a while before the lead hunter returned. The deeper the she-wolf delved into her plan, the more Eureka's mouth watered in anticipation. She could feel the wind blowing through her fur and the tough undergrowth beneath her paws. Eureka admired the joy she saw in the huntress as she articulated her proposal, a scheme sure to land the hunting party a clean kill.
"Sounds like a plan," she smiled with praise in response. She quickly looked up to Luke, expecting his approval. He really seemed to trust this huntress, so Eureka would do the same without question.

Aili came in close behind Wren, the peachy-colored female practically bursting at the seams for a hunt, though her outside demeanor remained only mildly excited, hiding the fact that her organs felt like they were bouncing off the walls of her body. She took a deep breath, settling some of the static that buzzed in her body. She truly was excited to be going on a large-scale hunt, that Wren chose her to be a part of this. Did Wren see her as skilled? Aili sure hoped so. As soon as Wren started speaking about the deer herd, Aili was calm and attentive to every detail Wren was saying.
"Sorry in advance for not knowing your names," Wren starts. "So in the herd, I spotted a few elderly does, and plenty of healthy adult deer. I assumed you would want the killing bite, Alpha." Aili repeats her role once over in her head, solidifying it there. That was definitely something she could do, especially with the capable wolves she was teamed with.
Aili gave a small and quick nod.
"Sounds like a plan," says the Alphess of Somnus. Adrenaline begins to slowly flow like a viscous fluid through Aili's limbs, she couldn't tell if it was numbing them or vitalizing them. Suddenly, this felt more real than it had before, the reality settling into Aili's bones. The hunt was about to start.

Following his efforts to pursue a friendly interaction with Wren, the oaken male resumed his usual demeanor; professional, cold. The interaction was simply exhausting, though entirely worth the effort. Throughout the lupine’s time in Noctis, socialization was a constant struggle. Countless times he was reprimanded for carelessly slung words, perhaps it was time to fix this. Where else would be better to begin then the notoriously kind Wren? Alas, conversation could be saved for later, as now a far more important task laid at paw. Hunting. Not only did the pressure arise to bring back food for the pack, but to allow the Alpha’s siblings to see the functionality of Noctis, how well he’d trained his warriors.
“So, I was thinking that the team to distract the buck could be your brother, Ater, and Aili. They are powerful and large and small enough respectfully to block off and dart around the buck to keep him occupied. The rest of us, Alpha Luke, your sister, Ozmond, and I would go after a doe. I assumed you would want the killing bite, Alpha."
Amber hues shone eagerly as Wren concluded her planning. It seemed fair enough, well thought-out, including each wolf with a specific task. This just might work. Stretching out muscled limbs, the warrior glanced around at the rest of the hunting party. As the canines prepped, Ozmond padded closer to the group he was placed with, rolling muscled shoulders in anticipation of the hunt to come.

Hunter Ater "It's Kind Of Okay That You Are Here."
Ater came upon the territory a little late, appearing as Wren was already giving off the hunting orders and plan. Trotting up beside Aili, Ater perked rounded ears toward the ash blanketed female with full attention eagerly aimed on the hunter as she spoke. "Sorry in advance for not knowing your names," She began hastily, "So in the herd, I spotted a few elderly does, and plenty of healthy adult deer. If we split into two teams, we can have one team distract the buck and the other target either one of the healthy does or one of the elderly ones. If we go for an elderly one, it will be easier, but the meat will be tougher." The graphite bitch, though rather enthusiastically awaiting the soon-to-begin hunt, stood stock-still, her only movement being the blinking of her baby blue eyes as she listened to Wren's analysis. She was quite sure they were capable of taking a healthy doe, it wasn't so hard to do so, let alone with a team of muscular and experienced wolves banded together.
"So I was thinking that the team to distract the buck could be your brother, Ater, and Aili. They are powerful and large and small enough respectfully to block off and dart around the buck to keep him occupied." The bitch let a tiny smile twist her lips at the assignment, excitement for task growing at the idea of getting to deal with and distract the buck. It was a more risky task, surely, but one she would perhaps enjoy more. "The rest of us, Alpha Luke, your sister, Ozmond, and I would go after a doe. I assumed you would want the killing bite, Alpha."
As Wren finished and was met with praise by one of the Alpha's visitor's, Ater drew closer to Aili and the large male she was grouped with. The Alpha's brother she knew, though she had no idea of his name or rank. As they would start heading out, the Yukon female would gravitate toward the male to speak a monotone voiced inquiry. "Before we start, may I know your name?"

| Delta Draco of Somnus
Draco followed his siblings, as well as the other Noctis wolves. Watching his sister's actions, she kept the same excitement that she held in the common grounds of Noctis territory. The large male watched as all of the smaller wolves moved past him. His large frame definitely stuck out among the rest. Ocean was the only one that competed with him in size, only being mere inches in difference. Luke had grown to be in the middle height of him and Eureka. Listening, his nose was already to the wind, scenting the deer that were about. He would let Luke's hunter do what she was supposed to do, but Draco knew that he could potentially make a plan to hunt down two deer instead of one. The arrogance within Draco sprouted right then as he listened to the plan that the hunter had come up with. Looking towards Luke, he cleared his throat. "Not to be rude, but with how many wolves we have here, we could potentially take down a second deer as well," The male spoke, looking towards the hunter. "If we were to separate two doe from the herd, it would be rather unlikely that the buck would chase after us. He would instead look to protecting and leading the rest of the doe to safety, as well as the young ones," The male had observed his fair share of hunts, and knew that the buck was not likely to try and protect two doe that were already trapped and were going to die. "But I will leave it up to Luke to decide," He swished his tail behind him as he spoke the words. Caramel brown eyes scanning the rest of the group, he waited patiently for his brother to decide.

| Luke listened to his sister as she spoke of what she was trying to accomplish in Somnus. It was great to hear that everything had smoothed over with Ocean's return, and he hoped that the large black male was doing better now that he was home. He listened to her next words as she spoke about their mother. He missed her, and he was rather regretful that he had not been there for her passing, and she had not seen him and he had not seen her for the last time before she left Earth. As his sister said she was proud of him, he couldn't help but be happy. "It seems every pack has its issues. But I'm glad that this has become my family. I miss everyone in Somnus, but I never felt at home there," He said, shying a little away from his sister. "I guess I found where I belong finally," He whispered. He had felt at home in Noctis, but talking with his sister brought back many memories that he had almost forgotten.
Wren approached not too long after they had finished talking, and proposed a plan. It sounded like a great plan that would bring them a surefire way of enjoying the night with full bellies, but it seemed that Draco had other ideas. Listening to his brother, he rolled his eyes. "Ya know Mr. Bossy Paws, Wren is one of my most trusted hunters, and I would rather be safe than sorry," He said with a small flick of his tail towards his brother. "I'm guessing he's always this bossy?" He playfully nudged his sister, before looking towards Draco with a playful grin. "Alright, let's do as Wren says! Everyone get in position!"

Luke's sister was the first wolf to speak up, offering the huntress an encouraging, "Sounds like a plan." Wren beamed back at the higher ranking she-wolf. It was nice to hear affirmation, especially after having to make a hunting plan for three superiors all on her own with the stress of the pack back in the commons. As the wolves she called for gathered around, Wren couldn't help but agree with Ater's question. It would be nice to know who she could call out to if she needed help. However, it seemed that Luke's brother had something else in mind instead of giving his name. "Not to be rude, but with how many wolves we have here, we could potentially take down a second deer as well. If we were to separate two does from the herd, it would be rather unlikely that the buck would chase after us. He would instead look to protecting and leading the rest of the doe to safety, as well as the young ones," the much larger male spoke, voicing thoughts that had crossed Wren's mind as she had loped back to the group. Internally, she bit the tip of her tongue. It was a good plan, and if the second team instead went for a second doe it would work just as well and have better rewards to reap, but there was more chance of something going wrong. "But I will leave it up to Luke to decide," he finished off, looking towards her Alpha to conclude on what was going to be done. Wren followed his gaze to the tawny male, wanting to get the hunt underway. "Ya know Mr. Bossy Paws, Wren is one of my most trusted hunters, and I would rather be safe than sorry," the playful quip from Luke relieved some of the anxiety that Wren was feeling about her plan. As he commented to his sister, the huntress took the opportunity to steady her fluttering heart. This hunt, in particular, was making her more nervous than usual. It was probably due to the high ranks of half of the hunters! "Alright, let's do as Wren says! Everyone get in position!" As Luke confirmed her plan, she couldn't contain a small hop of joy. Of course, this wasn't the first time that she had contributed to a hunting plan, but it was rare for her plan in entirety to be the actual plan! Following Luke's orders, which in a way were kind of her orders, Wren moved away from the group and trotted back towards the deer herd alongside Luke, his sister, and Ozmond. As they drew closer, Wren's anxiety faded automatically and she moved into hunting mode. Her bodice slunk lower as the deer herd came into sight, trained eyes scanning the edge of the swarm for a suitable target. Hopefully one big enough to please Luke's brother, who was about as big as a deer himself! As deer looked so similar to one another, when she found a sizeable doe Wren tried to find some sort of identifying marker to let the others know what she was thinking. As the doe grazed, the huntress noticed a scar, probably left by another predator, on her hips. It was large enough to be noticed by the other's around her, who she didn't doubt could see, but a united team was a successful one. Turning to the wolves around her, she suggested in a whisper, "The one on the edge with the scarred hip?" Hopefully they would all agree and Luke would start the hunt sooner rather than later. At any second, the wind could change or a misstep could crack a branch and send the herd into a stampede. Time was of the essence when it came to hunts. The plan was in place and confirmed by the alpha. Aili had just thought the hunt was about to begin when a Somnus wolf spoke up, contributing an idea. "Not to be rude, but with how many wolves we have here, we could potentially take down a second deer as well. If we were to separate two does from the herd, it would be rather unlikely that the buck would chase after us. He would instead look to protecting and leading the rest of the doe to safety, as well as the young ones. But I will leave it up to Luke to decide." Aili's brows raise slightly in interest, especially seeing as she did not know this wolf well. He was quite large, and apparently the brother of Luke, and the female was his sister. Aili felt a small ping in her chest. That's so cute, she thinks to herself, slightly envying their little family reunion. "Ya know Mr. Bossy Paws, Wren is one of my most trusted hunters, and I would rather be safe than sorry." Luke retorts playfully. "Alright, let's do as Wren says! Everyone get in position!"Aili's legs are abuzz with excitement and adrenaline again. Wren moved to her spot with her group presumably to start picking a victim, and Aili headed over to where she was a good distance and angle from the buck to be able to distract him when the time came. She took a deep breath, her excitement buzzing around in her mind incessantly, and she could not stop thinking. However calm she was physically, mentally, she was bouncing off the walls. With another breath, she pushes her thoughts to the side, calming her mind so she can focus on the task at hand. Turning her head, Aili focuses her golden orbs on Wren, waiting for a signal to begin to distract the buck. She was ready. | Luke looked towards Wren, hoping that Draco had not upset her in any way. His brother had a very large mouth, and thus needed to be quieted most of the time, if not all the time. Giving a small nod towards the wolves around him, he stalked forward, following Wren. He would keep close to her, to listen to her and hear if she had anything to say about the hunt. As they neared the herd, he stopped, body low to the ground as cranberry eyes shot around, looking at each and every doe and fawn that was scattered about. At the same time Wren had seemingly noticed the target that he had, she whispered to him and the rest of the group, directing their attention to the doe that was inevitably going to become dinner. It seemed that she had a gait to her step, and she was a rather plump doe, so she would suit well for the pack.
Readying his haunches, as he felt the air around him stir with the hunting party doing the same, he gave a nod to all of them, and felt himself prepare as he was to make the killing bite. But he would have to wait for the others to get moving before he shot forward and did so.

E U R E k aalphess of somnus
- the constant happiness is curiosity -
Luke competed unfairly with the sounds and smells of the Noctis hunting grounds that coaxed Eureka as she did her utmost to anchor her attention to her brother. She registered Luke's chary adjustment away from her as a cue to end the conversation, one that reinstalled bittersweet memories about their family. If she'd garnered anything from the visit up to this point, it was unadulterated bliss that after all Somnus had suffered and endured, Luke had been able to find peace. Eureka hoped to do the same for her family at home; eventually.
Her ears flattened contritely as soon as as her brothers voice broke the air. "Not to be rude," he said brusquely. Her eyes blinked with guilted innocence towards the hunting superior as if apologizing for her brother's sour entrance into an otherwise considerable proposition, but largely for humiliating her in front of her packmates.
"Wren," Eureka repeated twice in her head after Luke mentioned her name, revealing it to Eureka for the first time. Wren's lack of response to Draco only inundated Eureka with embarrassment; she was responsible for her subordinates, including her brother. Alas, it wasn't her place to speak anything of it here.
Shake it off. Eureka swelled to match the height of her brother as best she could, proud to be standing beside her alpha brother as his alphess sister. She nipped his tail once before catching up to his flank, following behind Wren and ahead of the one called Ozmond. Inevitably a smile returned to her face, the terrain and its game coming into full view in front of her. Adrenaline brewed; how she craved it.
"This is..." she began without the intention to speak aloud. All of this was familiar; the adrenaline, the fear, the childlike roughhousing with her siblings. She recalled her childhood, when she played with Ariel and the others at the lake and dared to test the extremities of the borders where dark things lurked, including the things that took her sisters' lives, her father's and mother's lives, Shadow's life, Francesca's life and plenty of family that Eureka had to try to make up for as an Omega since she was only a pup.
The dark things weren't always tangible or even visible. They nearly took Ocean's life and the rest of Somnus's limited joy by way of famine and war. The morality was gone; Eureka had to make up for that, too. She thought about it. Was being an Omega all that different from being an alpha? All they did was take from her when she needed to heal, ask things from her without giving back, and the result was always the same. She could make them smile for a while, but she could never bring back the ones they'd lost forever or turn back time to stop the famine and the war, or stop Ocean from trying to kill himself or bringing Francesca back only for her to die too.
"This is exciting!" Her tail moved like a flag behind her, her smile spread so wide it hurt. All she could do for her family was be happy; or pretend to be.

The huntress' heart was beating at a mile a minute. It seemed to be the side effect of every hunt; adrenaline pulsing through her system before they truly set off. Having a quick realization, Wren turned to the two wolves she expected to be taking down the doe with her. Whispering to the brightly smiling Alphess and the male she considered to be at least a friend, "Miss, could you go for the doe's good hip, and Oz could you go for her bad hip? You're heavier and it could unbalance her faster then it'd all be a bit safer. I'll go for the shoulder on the same side as the hip so that she'll be lame and Luke can finish her off easily." Giving the pair of wolves a smile, Wren flicked her eyes over to Luke, expecting him to start the hunt. Instead, she caught his nod as a signal. Waiting for a reasonable enough time for the rest of the hunting party to get into position, Wren released two loud barks, startling the deer while she kept an eye on the target doe and sending the hunt into motion. Bursting out of the dying undergrowth, the blanketed she-wolf set off at a long paced sprint. As her prewarmed body loosened again, her covering strides grew longer and faster. The adrenaline had tightened up her system, but as soon as the hunt was underway, the playful she-wolf had a job to do. It wasn't all fun and games anymore, it was a precision machine where all parts needed to function well in order for the best result with the fewest injuries. Keeping this in mind, Wren kept track of three main things. One, where the wolves she had placed with her were in relation to the doe. Two, where the team distracting the buck was so that the runners weren't going to be in danger from him. Three, where the pre-injured doe was in relation to the hunting party. As the herd's hoofbeats moved from panicked trotting in place to a uniform running mass, their doe on the outside had remained so, the flashing scar on her right flank giving her away all too easily to the trained eye. After ensuring that the buck was being taken care of, Wren arced around towards the doe, her breath coming out steady. By no means was she the strongest or most powerful wolf, but she was young and fit. Endurance and speed were her forte and she was putting them to good use chasing after the stampeding ungulates. Coming up close to the chosen doe, she made sure that Luke's sister and Ozmond were close behind her so that they could stagger their attacks. Darting up to the doe's right shoulder, Wren calculated her pacing and leaps upwards, sharp teeth colliding with moving shoulder and tearing through skin and muscle. For a few brief seconds, Wren stabilized herself using her claws on the doe's side as the deer stumbled at the added weight before twisted her head backwards and falling off the doe and back onto her paws. She moved away slightly, allowing whoever wanted attack next, either Luke's sister or Ozmond, some space to do so. As she ran beside the slowing animal, Wren couldn't help but let out an amused pant as she thought of the size similarities between the doe and Luke's brother. Pups could use him as a training exercise! A few more times the rotational attacks continued. Luke's sister on the unscarred flank, Ozmond opening up old wounds, and herself unbalancing the doe to the right. With her shoulder and both hips damaged, all it took was a small divot in the ground to send the severely slowed down doe toppling. By this point, the huntress was panting, but only trotting beside the limping animal a fair distance away before it fell. Darting out to avoid getting hit by the falling prey, Wren quickly darted back in to put her weight onto the struggling animal. Though she wasn't all that heavy, she knew that the combined weights of the three hunters, no matter if they were an Alphess, a warrior, and a hunter combined, would keep the exhausted animal down. With Luke not far behind through the whole hunt, Wren knew she wouldn't have to wait long for the doe to be dead. As her Alpha presumably killed the doe, Wren kept her paws on the base of the deer's neck and the top of her shoulder, pinning her top half partially while her heartbeat slowed beneath her paws. With the prey successfully killed, Wren hopped off and breathed a sigh or combined relief, ecstasy, and fatigue. She panted with eyes glazed over with the joy of her job simply looking up at the sky before closing them for a few seconds and returning her attention to the situation around her. Her amber gaze swept across the deserted forest, the rest of the herd already regrouping elsewhere in the hunting grounds. The bleat of the buck let her know that he was off to rejoin them herd as well. She scanned over Ozmond and Luke's sister automatically, the hunter's instinct to make sure that everyone else was alright or if they had to bring another thing back to the common grounds for poor Hoshi to deal with. Letting her chest heave, she looked to Luke with shoulder blood staining her maw to see how he wanted to get the doe back to the commons or if he wanted to talk to his siblings at all after she had separated them for the hunt.
