Ater looked towards Aili as the young she-wolf seemed to think for a moment. Formulating a hunting plan did take some time, so she would wait patiently next to Zachariah before she would perk her ears to the sound of the she-wolf’s voice. Their plan was to separate the younger doe from the herd. Aili’s logic was solid, and Ater would applaud her for that, but with her hunting plan, she forgot one simple thing; the buck. Although it wasn’t a fertile doe quite yet, the buck is the protector of the pack, and would need to be kept at bay or at least watched while they’re hunting. She looked over towards Ozmond and Zachariah, seeing if they were also thinking the same thing. Neither of them had voiced it if they were, and so Ater took a step forward, giving a small dip of her head to the more solid leaders of the group as she did. She wasn’t necessarily a superior, she had only just gone from being an Omega to a Hunter, but she knew that they needed to at least keep an eye on the buck if they were going to do this hunt. “If I may speak. Your plan is solid, and would work. But I think instead of placing Ozmond to corral the deer more towards Zachriah and myself, he should be placed to watch and keep eye on the buck. Even if the young doe is not necessarily of age to yet breed and produce offspring, the buck will more than likely try to stampede us. I have no doubts in your skills to hunt, and I suggest maybe placing the bulkier two - Ozmond and Zachariah - towards where the buck is to keep him from charging at us,” She spoke, looking towards the two as she did. She would step back, hoping that her idea would bring forth some light, and have the two yearlings learn from it. It wasn’t that she didn’t like Aili’s plan, but placing the two to protect any of them from injuries would be a better idea than simply going straight for the doe. If the buck were to chase and come after them, then there would be no telling who it would charge, and if Ozmond or Zachariah would be able to get there in time to defend either Tamlin, Aili or even herself from getting hurt. And it would throw off their entire plan if she didn’t account for this. Swishing her tail behind her, she looked towards the two males, wondering if they would agree or disagree with Ater. Only three wolves were needed to take down a young doe, and having two on defensive against a large buck would better their chances of a successful kill. Ozmond looked to Aili as she spoke, her plan was solid; for the most part. Ater spoke up next, her voice carrying the attention it deserves and as he turned he gave Aili a nod of approval. Ater did point out the flaw that he saw as well, the buck. He nodded along before putting is own two cents in. "I agree, I will stay close by early on and keep the buck away with some early help from Zach, afterwards he can catch up and help take our dinner down, I will stay on the outskirts keeping the buck away if he decides to swing back around but should loose interest once she is down," he comments aloud, looking to Zach and Ater for approval. Once the plan was hammered into place, he looked to Aili and Tamlin, the stars of the hunt. "Lead the way, we'll have your back," he instructed with a smile. ”I think we should go after the doe, old enough so that she isn’t being hounded by a mother and young enough so that others wouldn’t care about her so much as a fertile adult. We’re going to need to separate her, though, which I think Tamlin and I should do. It shouldn’t take many wolves to get her running. Ater and Zach, we can direct her over to you to start taking her down, and Ozmond can be placed just a little before you so he can ensure she is headed in the right direction and can help start the take-down. When we get to the herd, we can choose where everyone will go, as we need to watch for the winds and how they change, as Tamlin said,” Aili relayed a hunting plan based off his info well enough. However, it seemed that he had missed out on one of the most important aspects of a hunt. “If I may speak. Your plan is solid, and would work. But I think instead of placing Ozmond to corral the deer more towards Zachariah and myself, he should be placed to watch and keep eye on the buck. Even if the young doe is not necessarily of age to yet breed and produce offspring, the buck will more than likely try to stampede us. I have no doubts in your skills to hunt, and I suggest maybe placing the bulkier two - Ozmond and Zachariah - towards where the buck is to keep him from charging at us,” Ater piped up, adding the critical aspect back into his plan. "Shit," Tamlin hissed under his breath. How could he not have kept track of objectively, the other half of the hunt? It was stupid. As Ozmond voiced his agreement with Ater's revision to Aili's plan, Tamlin nodded his head. He wasn't mad at anyone else - the plan was solid - but he was mad with himself. Just to clarify the plan, Tamlin revoiced it with the revision, "So, Ozmond and Zach will stay by the buck, but as the hunt progresses, Zach will come help take down the doe while Ozmond keeps an eye on the buck. Aili and I will get the doe running, then Ater, us two, and later Zach will take her down. Who get's the killing blow? I would think Zach if you're staying near the buck Ozmond," his jade gaze turned to the General, listening to his response before the hunting party set off. As he approached the herd once more, his gargantuan frame slowed to a halt. Checking the wind once more to make sure that he was downwind, Tamlin looked towards Aili. They needed to make sure that they were targetting the same doe, and in a herd of animals that looked practically identical, that needed verbal confirmation. Searching the slightly swirling herd, the giant yearling found the young female once more. Luckily, it was straying further to the left than most of the other deer. "The young one on the far left," Tamlin whispered to his hunting partner before checking to see that the other members of the hunting party were in position. Whispering a countdown from three, Tamlin barrelled out of his hiding place. His enormous frame cut to the right, making sure that Oz and Zach were going to distract the buck and not let either himself or Aili get gouged with its antlers. Seeing that they were, Tamlin moved around the doe and began to separate her from the spooked herd. After a sufficient distance was between the rest of the herd and the young female, Tamlin threw his weight at her right shoulder, nearly 100 lbs of wolf tearing at her shoulder with sharpened claws. Hopping back onto the ground and running next to the injured doe, he waited for Aili and Ater to attack. Hopefully, the hunt would be over quickly and with little incident so he could get back to the commons and get assigned another menial task. The scent of a coyote tickled his nose, but he figured that it was far enough away that it shouldn't be an immediate problem. Hunting Superior Ater Paladin Zachariah @aili @ozmond

Aili watched Ater intently as she gave her advice, soaking up what she said like a sponge and storing it in her brain, learning it and remembering it for later. Aili had left out that one crucial part, the buck. She doubted she would do that in the future now that she knew better, but she was glad this was being treated as a learning experience and that she wouldn't be judged for any flaws in her novice abilities. However, now that that was sorted, it would seem that it was time to get going.
"I agree. I will stay close by early on and keep the buck away with some early help form Zach, afterwards he can catch up and help take our dinner down, I will stay on the outskirts keeping the buck away if he decides to swing back around but should lose interest once she is down." Aili nods at Ozmond, signaling that she had it down. "Lead the way, we'll have your back," he says with a smile, which Aili returns, and then Tamlin clarifies the final plan.
Aili walked with Tamlin towards the target herd, and she began observing their placement. Luckily, they weren't all too clumped together to make it very difficult.
"The young one on the far left," Tamlin whispers to her, and Aili tracks his vision like a beeline to the doe who he was referring to. She gives a nod and an 'okay', and gets into position along with the young male.
Tamlin counts down, and as soon as he is at zero, the two young wolves were racing out towards the young female who was (hopefully) about to reach her end, so that the abrupt cut of her life could further prolong that of the pack's. Tamlin cuts to the right to keep her on track towards Oz and Zach, and whenever the female starts to waver to the side, Aili quickly dashes over and rights her. Having separated her a good ways from the herd, Tamlin throws his hefty frame at the doe's shoulder, tearing into her and doing some damage. As he does this, a slight scent of coyote comes to awareness in her nostrils but she ignores it, too far away to become a concern and her focus all on this hunt. With Ater coming back down, Aili sees an opening and pushes to run a little faster, sinking her teeth into a tender tendon in the doe's back right leg, slowing her down with a little limp and weakening her further. When Aili releases and continues sprinting, chasing the doe towards the others, blood is trickling down her chin, and she licks it, motivation to finish this thing off.

Zachariah just ignored the young one's scowl, kid could complain all he wanted, but he was still the superior rank. He'd have to swallow him or gag trying. Bitch resting face and crankiness aside, both yearlings and the more experienced hunter set of to their assigned scout duties, while the warrior and the general waited for the data. Didn't take the trio much, as after some minutes, they could be seen walking back. "There's a small herd of deer a short distance west. Currently, we're downwind of them but winter winds are volatile and can change at any time. If we keep conscious of that we'll be fine. There's a young doe that we can target and a few older ones as well. Aili, go for it", said Tamlin, breaking the silence and telling his fellow to do his part. Kid's got potential, he thought, as Aili explained her part. An ingenious plan the yearling had formulated, and everyone seemed to agree, included the until-now unspeaking Ater, who added her own modifications. "So, Ozmond and Zach will stay by the buck, but as the hunt progresses, Zach will come help take down the doe while Ozmond keeps an eye on the buck. Aili and I will get the doe running, then Ater, us two, and later Zach will take her down. Who get's the killing blow? I would think Zach if you're staying near the buck Ozmond," resumed Tamlin, making an in a nutshell version of the aforementioned plan. Zachariah just heard and let things happen, the younger ones had this, no reason to intervene. As Ozmond greenlit the ordeal, the quintet set sail towards their future dinner. "Let's get ourselves some food, fellas", exclaimed the eurasian, following his general, everyone slowly getting in their planned position. The ambush had officially begun, dinner was served. Ozmond and Zack moved in to keep the buck in check, making sure the huge was unaware of their scheme, as Tamlin, Aili and Ater slashed and diced against their prey's flesh, tearing it off, slowly but surely slowing her sprint down. The warrior watched their flawless teamwork, proudly from his distance, enjoying seeing the yearlings finally working together, smiling at Oz, sign of his approval. But, the apparent happiness on his faced drastically changed once his nose managed to grasp that oh so characteristic scent. "Fucking 'yotes". Still with their prescence far away, the male still recognized the threat their rivals represented not only to their hunt, but to their own well beings. Rushing towards where the struggle between the younger noctis members and the doe was still happening, Zachariah prepared to finish off the poor thing, finding the right space, that unprotected design flaw of nature called 'neck', biting it, sinking his teeth into the animal's throat and tearing it out, painting the grass and Zack's muzzle red as the prey took her last breaths. It had been done.

General Ozmond of noctis As soon as the chase begun Ozmond stayed intently on the buck. The buck proved to be inexperienced and was not as formidable as previous bucks, but Oz still did not let down his guard. As the doe was chased further away the buck began to act aggitated, even for a mere doe. But he backed off instead of charge at either Ozmond or Zachariah. Snarling loudly Oz turned to see what spooked the rest of the heard and buck away. Several meters into the woods he spotted a small, but prominent figure moving sluggishly. A brown bear. Letting out a growl Ozmond approached with caution. There was no need to rush as the bear seemed to not care for the hunt, quite yet. Gaining more ground Ozmond was able to observe that the bear was young, not fully grown. Maybe chased from his slumbering home? Or disturbed by something else? All Oz knew was that a bear not hybernating right now meant more aggression. He needed to think smart and scare the predator off. A tree that held lots of snow was just above the bear, where he finally stopped and seemed to catch the whiff of blood. Hunger would have lured the bear forwards if not for Ozmonds quick snarl and body slamming into the tree. The vibrations caused a large clump of snow to fall onto the bear, startling the thing and it turned tell and ran. Ozmond didn't dare laugh because even a young bear could have still taken out at least one of their wolves if it wanted to. Stalking over, the hunt was done. He looked to Zachariah and Ater with a serious expression. "There was a bear on the outskirts, young, but we will need to be more vigiliant from here on," he spoke quickly. The best option was to drag the deer away before more predators tried to find them. He moved to grab one of the back legs and looked to the others to do the same. Once they were in position they began dragging their dinner home. Exit to Noctis Commons

After having given her piece of advice to the yearlings that were currently planning the hunt, she listened as plans were set into motion, and her advice was taken into account as they proceeded with the hunt. Since she was paired with Zachariah, she followed along with him, her eyes calculating the herd as they walked near it, stopping downwind from it as she got herself ready to hunt. Muscles were tensed and she was ready to spring into action. Seeing Tamlin and Aili take the initiative and start the hunt. She rushed forward, joining them from her position and chasing after, keeping up rather well. The scent of coyotes flooded her nose rather quickly, and she took herself away from the hunt to keep a watch from where it was coming from. It smelled of multiple of them, and she would not have them interrupting the hunt in that moment. She had stopped, ears alert and ready for the appearance of the creatures that lurked and scavenged off of their remains. As she trotted towards where she presumed them to be, she heard the rustle of bushes, and as she approached the place where the scent was strongest, she found nothing but small pawprints left in the snow. She tracked the prints, walking towards the direction they were. They were heading for the borders. Good. She didn’t need them in her hunting grounds, and she would likely kill them if she stumbled upon them. Returning herself to the hunt, the doe was laying on the ground, throat pulled from its place and blood splattered against the snowy white blanket that crunched as she approached, looking towards the bloodied muzzle of Zachariah. He took the more brutish approach to killing off a deer. Ozmond was nowhere to be seen. The General was probably making sure that the buck did not come back to try and save its now dead herd member. Giving a small smirk, she approached Zachariah, nudging his shoulder. “I see you went for the messier kill,” She chuckled, looking at him with a gleam of amusement. “Usually you want to snap the neck, not dislodge it from the creature and spill blood,” She teased, looking towards him and then to the yearlings that stood there. “Congratulations on your first hunt. Luke will be hearing of your success,” She said, looking towards Ozmond who approached. He spoke of a brown bear. Young, and on their borders. “We’ll have to lead a patrol to rid it from the territory. I wonder what a brown bear is doing awake right now. Usually they’re hibernating,” She grumbled, looking towards Ozmond once more as she watched him take a leg into his mouth. She did the same, heading for the front instead of the rear. As Zachariah would come to help, and the other two would do so as well, they dragged it back to the commons. Hopefully the blood trail would not bring predators their way. -Exit to Noctis Commons- Paladin Zachariah @ozmond @aili Warrior Tamlin

It was a job well done. All, veterans and younglings alike, had done their job perfectly, evident by the unmoving prey on the ground. Zachariah smiled at his about-to-be meal, as he felt the touch of another wolf. Ater, the hunter who had tagged along was smirking at him, playful smile drawn along her face. “I see you went for the messier kill. Usually you want to snap the neck, not dislodge it from the creature and spill blood,” she said, teasing the male who had just realized the actual bloodbath his fur and jaw were. Embarassed, the warrior chuckled briefly, adding "Kinda my style Ater, the messier the better," winking an eye. “Congratulations on your first hunt. Luke will be hearing of your success,” said the adult female, as she praised the yearling's perfomance. The warrior smiled, seeing the potential of Aili and Tam was just so satisfying! "Ya'll did great out there, I'm proud!" Zack expressed, before digging his jaws into the corpse once again, helping the others carry it away into their territory. Exit to Noctis Commons

The presence of coyotes makes itself known by a foul scent entering Aili's nose, crawling around her nostrils and making her lips curl briefly. Thoughts flashed through her mind with incredible speed, like how close they were and if the wolves would need to pause and do anything about it. A glance quick enough so as not to disturb the hunt showed Aili that Ater was on top of the scents and taking care of it, and, trusting in Ater, her focus is back on the life whose legs kick out in a frantic run in front of her. Hopefully, Aili's fun wouldn't be ruined by those damn creatures. Zachariah is quick to come over and deliver a finishing touch, one that causes small sanguine droplets to splatter across Aili's light chest. Panting a bit, exhilarated, and as happy as can be, Aili relishes in the last sad moments of the hunt, knowing that she would have to wait yet again to do what she loved. Ozmond reports of the bear, which Aili had smelt a tinge of earlier but been too focused in, and Ater agrees that it must be rid of later. "Congratulations on your first hunt. Luke will be hearing of your success." Ater says. Zack adds on: "Y'all did great out there, I'm proud!" Aili ducks her chin down, looking at the two and unable to suppress a small smile which had been swelling along with a feeling in her chest. It was something she hadn't felt yet, but it felt like her heart was a field with one bothersome and unidentifiable pit underground, but this feeling was filling and flooding that gape with more soil. The female was working out what it was. It was accomplishment, and belonging. Finally she had been able to do what she truly loved, done it successfully for the pack, and her pack members expressed an appraising voice. It was a satisfaction that drove Aili's feelings to what felt like the extents of her fur, as far as it could go. Elated but trying not to get too out of hand, she eagerly grabs a thigh and helps haul the doe back in, the carcass in her mouth hiding the smile that stretched harder than any other had in years. It felt like she found something she would never let go of. Paladin Zachariah Hunting Superior Ater @ozmond Warrior Tamlin

Everything went splendidly according to plan. Despite his and Aili's inability to get along well, their plan seemed to be holding tight. After he attacked, Aili took her turn, and after a few more rotations of the same pattern, Zach barged in and painted the grounds red. The giant had noticed Ater missing from the rotation, but quickly found her again chasing off the coyotes he had scented before. With a heaving chest and a runner's high, Tamlin, for a moment, felt some sense of happiness. They'd done it. A hearty meal for the whole pack lay dead before him and he had helped plan and take the beast down. At Ozmond's mention of a bear, Tamlin furrowed his brows. A bear? He had seen coyotes just before. Noctis was going to need to crack down on their hunting grounds so greedy scavengers didn't feel that they had the right to linger. “I see you went for the messier kill. Usually, you want to snap the neck, not dislodge it from the creature and spill blood. Congratulations on your first hunt. Luke will be hearing of your success. We’ll have to lead a patrol to rid it from the territory. I wonder what a brown bear is doing awake right now. Usually, they’re hibernating,” Ater's tones - something the yearling didn't hear often - voiced many of the thoughts within his mind. It also gave him valuable information. Of the limited hunts he'd been on, it was good to recognize the most effective manner of delivering the killing bite. One day maybe he would have the privilege of doing it himself. Tamlin could chalk up a smile for his... friend as Zach expressed his pride in the two youngest members of the hunting party. They'd done well enough to earn that pride. A successful kill without any casualties wasn't a rarity per se, but it was the optimal outcome no matter what. With the others stationing themselves at the legs of the doe, Tamlin sank his jowls into the shoulder of the corpse and assisted in dragging it back to the commons. Maybe something had changed in the time he had left, but he doubted it. It'd just be back to sitting and waiting. Like always. @ozmond @aili Hunting Superior Ater Paladin Zachariah-Exit to Noctis Common Grounds-
