APPRENTICE HYE-SU OF SORELUS
”Well, I can still hunt, but I am not as good as I once was, obviously. I am no longer a warrior. This pack of yours does have quite a few young ones, though. I would be willing to teach them and watch over them as they grow. I am still spry for my age, I promise you." Hye-Su nodded to Junichiro’s answer, flicking a tail behind her in thought. Again, this would be up to Rowan if the elder would be accepted into Sorelus.
“Well, I’m sure we could fit you in somewhere,” she stated openly, letting down her guard for a small moment. “However, you will be questioned by our Alpha, if you’re willing to join follow me and I’ll introduce you,” with that Hye-Su turned around and moved towards where Wignut and Rowan stood, with a new individual as well.
Bowing her head to both, if Junichiro had followed she would move to the side. “Rowan, Wingnut, this is Junichiro,” she stated, hoping the elder male would pick up on their names. “He says he could help with the pups,” she began but lowered her voice towards her mentor and Wingnut so Junichiro and the other stranger wouldn’t hear. “Of course, if we trust him with them.”

The female thought for a moment, but he knew she wasn't a leader, and would decide to ask her superiors what to do. And so she did. With her statement she turned around and headed towards where Jun figured the Alpha in question was, not bothering to check if he was following. He did, but reluctantly, getting to his feet with a sigh and padding on after her. She moved to the side to allow him to sidle up beside her, him offering some civility by bowing his head slightly as the younger wolf did. The male was named Rowan, and the older female wolf named Wingnut. He was introduced, and she dropped her voice to speak to her packmates, and he waited patiently, just wanting to lay down and nap for a while. Now that he thought about it, he was feeling a bit peckish. Maybe he could go looking for some easy prey before resting. He looked around, sniffing the air for a scent of prey. There were a few rodents around. The grumpy-faced male turned his attention back to the Alpha of the pack, awaiting his acceptance or denial. He just wanted things to hurry up, there was no reason to make everything dramatic and draw it all out. He just wanted them to get to the point, lay it all out for him. He would take their decision, whatever it may be.

APPRENTICE HYE-SU OF SORELUS
As Junichiro was given over to her elder’s to be dealt with, Hye-Su turned back to her main task; watching over the pregnant she-wolf. Approaching her once again, she lowered her head to look over her closely. She appeared to be in ok health except for her sniffling and crying. The sound annoyed Hye-Su, who was never a fan of the expression of sadness from others.
“Ma’am,” she spoke finally towards the she-wolf who had been sniffling and cowering for a while now without talking or reacting to the other pack members. The she-wolf gave Hye-Su weird vibes, who was so wrapped up in their own thoughts that they didn’t even realize they were within packgrounds.
“Ma’am,” she said again, this time more reassuring, “you’re alright now, no one here is gonna hurt you, can you tell me your name?” Hye-Su asked, trying to gain information from the wolf who still remained quiet.

| J O Y loneliness is poverty
She couldn't bear the look on Simon's face. Was her presence really so burdening? She couldn't identify a single pack member who valued her besides Raisa, but she didn't care to be valued by anybody except the boy. She hated herself for feeling this way.
There was a momentary shift in Simon's expression⏤a glint of interest or curiosity. Joy's eyes sparkled as they widened in hope and, guiltily she thought of this, expectation that he'd say something rewarding. Alas, only cursing and crude commentary came her way, but she supposed she liked this better than nothing at all. Stupid, stupid, stupid. She did not follow his orders. As much as she craved his approval, she could not yet give him any satisfaction until he deserved it. Good, I still have self-respect, she thought, but only after double-checking.
Karini's voice always came as a bit of a surprise to Joy. Although she was older than her, Joy always considered her to be quite young and much less developed than herself. Yet Simon preferred her company to Joy's, and wasn't so bothered by her childish demeanor. Curses. Another voice struck Joy with fascination. It was the rogue's, Helios. "With the boredom these monotonous brush lands bring me I suppose I cannot help but let my curiosity drag me away these days." Her attention fixated on him as she dwelled on his comment. Monotonous, she thought. If he was seeking change, this wasn't the place. Joy had been coveting the same thing since she'd arrived. She was only here to survive; and for Raisa; and maybe Simon.
Nobody else was here for her, though. "Simon, Karini, head back to the commons first," Wingnut commanded, overlooking the pale girl. She sure wasn't as sharp as she claimed to be if she couldn't spot a glistering white figure only a few feet away, or maybe it was Joy who was incredibly talented, for even the world's most adept sentinel could not see her. Was she even here at all?
Joy found a place near Hye-Su and the ebony rogue, purposefully north of Simon's gaze, ready to assess the stranger. He claimed to be a qualified guardian for the pups, which struck Joy as hardly believable. He had a ceaselessly angry face. He wasted no time, ready to get right down to the important things with conventional gestures towards the superiors. He was clearly experienced in pack life, but if he had a family, why was he alone? Hye-Su had brought yet another anomaly to Sorelus.
Even Hye-Su, who was quiet and reserved like Joy, seemed to have a purpose; a visible one. She was a straightforward, clear communicator like Wren and was able to use those skills to benefit the pack. Joy admired their indifference. She wished she was as simple-minded as them. It didn't take a genius to do what they did; only competence and no distractions. Joy fought the latter, but she could not deny her inability to focus on things like duty. She wanted to experience all that there was and could be, including love.

Beta WingnutIf I Don't Understand, You are the one at fault Three pups ahead of her had moved towards the commons at her call, the third not mentioned in her vocalisation but she knew that the small being would follow along regardless. One would have to be blind not to see how she shadowed Simon. Joy's form trailing after him in day to day activities was a common occurrence to those keeping track of movements. As she approached her Alpha with the pale rogue, yet another male approached, this one accompanied by Hye-Su. It seemed that leaving the apprentice in charge of guarding that face of the borders had been wise. The other rogue seemed to be older than the rest of them, wearing a semi-permanent frown that seemed to mirror the future of the rogue behind her.
"Rowan, Wingnut, this is Junichiro. He says he could help with the pups." the yearling explained before her voice dropped to a mutter, "Of course if we trust him with them." Wingnut blinked in response, the new information being sifted through gears of a mind accustomed to making decisions like these. While Hye-Su and introduced this Junichiro to Rowan herself, Wingnut had left the air open for the male behind her to state his own intentions, the only information she gave Rowan concerning him not being the threat concerning the pregnant she-wolf that had barged into the commons.
As Hye-Su left the side of the elderly rogue's side to comfort the strange she-wolf, Wingnut turned expectant eyes to the scarred male. She didn't know what the male had done about the sudden intrusion of the pregnant she-wolf while she was away dealing with the alabaster rogue behind her, but if there was anything she expected to be filled in. The second issue at hand was the rogues now in the commons. The number of pups in the pack was getting out of hand without an adequate number of adults to find enough prey, so if Rowan didn't accept either of the males then he would need to have some sort of plan to find prey as winter approached. Silently, the Beta awaited his response, knowing that there wasn't much more she could say to him.

Midori hadn’t appreciated her kind intervention, swatting her softly with her tail as she ambled over towards Mama. Lacey giggled, loping over to give her sister a small nip in return. Dori had always been an early morning grump — but she wouldn’t be when she heard the news! "Why are we up so early?" She questioned sleepily, scowling slightly. Lacey couldn’t help but interject excitedly. “Becaaaause we’re all going on an adventure! All five of us! Even Ma!” Playfully, she prodded her sister forwards, eager to finally have a partner to play with in the snow. “C’mon Dori! C’mon Ash!” She cheered, happily charging through the smallest snowdrifts. “I’ll race you as far as we can go — and the last one there is… is…” she trailed off, wrinkling her nose in thought before a brilliant idea unveiled itself. “Last one there’s the bottom of the cuddle pile for a whooole week! C’mon guys! Let’s go!”

Karini calmly listened to Joy's response. It seemed that she somehow started to be aware of her potentially annoying voice to others. It wasn't her intention, she just was new to this thing of socializing. Never in her life had the opportunity of talking to many wolves apart from her own family. Lowers her ears lightly, as starts feeling bad for being such a bother. The rest seemed calm and mature, even someone younger than herself did. Why couldn't she do the same? Why did she have to be the weakest of them all? But what could she do? Sights as follows Joy to where Wingnut ordered them to go. She decided to remain silent for the rest of the day. She hopped that way she could prove not only Wingnut but the rest of the pack that she could be as mature as them. If she was capable of surviving by herself, why shouldn't she become serious as well? She only needed to try right? Then that was what she was going to do from now on. Looks at the sky as golden eyes were slightly narrowed. She wished many things, but her shy nature didn't allow her to share with others. What if they didn't care? What if they won't listen? She wasn't sure but she would just be in silence. Her problems should remain hers, right? But due to losing focus, ends up crashing her head to a tree, falling over her tail. "Ouch..." @joy @wingnut Scout Hye-Su @simonn

Jun idly watched the movement of the small pack around him, comprised largely of younglings with only a few older than the age of two. There definitely needed to be a wisened head in their ranks, one not clouded by prejudices or emotions or pride that younger wolves had yet to overcome. The Beta left him and the Alpha to talk, but the Alpha remained silent in thought for quite a while. A dark ear flicked impatiently, tail swishing from side to side. He huffed loudly, indicating he was getting tired of waiting on the male's response. He was lucky Jun wasn't as violent as he used to be, otherwise he wouldn't have even asked to join the pack. He would have told the Alpha he was taking is place, then murder him in the fight in cold blood. Most wolves won't outright kill the old Alpha when he can no longer prove himself to be the strongest of the pack; they usually just kick them out or make them an Omega. Jun, however, in his younger days, always finished off the old alpha of any pack he took over, demanding loyalty by fear from the other wolves and traumatizing them to keep them in line and never questioning his authority. But, times had changed now. He wasn't that wolf anymore. Being stupid like that didn't bring him loyalty. Those wolves were just scared of him killing them, and as soon as they saw a way out they ran. The others who were power hungry like he was or just plain crazy were happy to follow him into battle, up until the day he led them to their deaths. That was ages ago, and yet the scars adorning his body kept the memories from those years at the forefront of his mind, making it impossible for him to forget his misdeeds. That was why he was looking to redeem himself somehow, after all. He snuffed as he saw a yearling run directly into the trunk of a tree, not paying attention. These wolves had no direction. While he admired the fact that almost none of these wolves, save for the high-ranking officials, were battle-hardened warriors, he couldn't deny the fact that in so it would be way too easy to siege this pack and decimate them. Hell, Jun could have done it by himself when he was in his prime, just looking at them now. If they thought that they didn't need to train hard because they would be peaceful towards others, thinking that others would be peaceful towards them, they were stupid. Wolves weren't like that, and he was one of the wolves who would have seen the instability in this pack and used it to attack them, so he knew. With his new thinking, he could see how he would interpret things if he were still in his old mindset. This insight helped him survive ravenous wolves and keep himself away from old enemies. He brought himself back out of his brain, his eyes focusing back in on the Alpha's to meet his gaze. "Well? Accept me or not, I don't have forever to stand here and wait. I'm getting older by the hour here," he grunted, not caring if he was being completely informal with this wolf now. Alpha Rowan @karini

The male was surprised by his feet carrying him to follow this female. Him, joining a pack? Was he out of his mind? it was quite possible with all these years of isolation from others, living lone as he thought was best. He breathes out heavy as he follows behind the female, small puffs of white escaping his nostrils as he tried to sort through the jumbled mess of all of his thoughts. Helios was never a pack wolf. After his family, he stayed lone, in one instance chatting with a female and a coy-wolf for a couple hours, before they left. It seemed no matter how close he got to a life not so lonely, hands reached out and pulled him back to an isolated lifestyle. He could not yet tell if it made him want it more or give up on it entirely. Was he really going to be that rogue who grew old in the lands alone, passing by younger wolves only to scare them off with a snappy attitude? Helios slightly wrinkles his nose at the thought. As they approach the Alpha, a young female wolf brings forward yet another rogue wolf, not carrying the intermingling scents of the pack. "Rowan, Wingnut, this is Junichiro. He says he could help with the pups. Of course, if we trust him with them." The young female introduces the male, who seemed a bit bored and impatient with it all. Helios couldn't imagine such a wolf being able to stand the pups, but perhaps he had a change of heart around them. You know, like how Helios suddenly turns into a loving mother around them and his attitude completely fades, but he doesn't like to talk about that. After mulling it over enough, an impulsive decision seems to reach him. Oh, what the hell, he thinks to himself. Guess I'm no longer a lone wolf.@wingnut Alpha Rowan @junichiro

APPRENTICE HYE-SU OF SORELUS
Hye-Su had been watching over this female while her mentor took his sweet time dealing with the group, pack? Uncertainty clouded her mind as plum eyes glanced to her cyclops. He stood there with two new arrivals, both older than she was, and the majority of the pack. This would be good, although the male she brought forward seemed to being growing impatient. Weren’t you supposed to get more patient with age?
Her body was left unguarded when she heard the breathing change in the strange female. Her quiet cries turned a little louder and more chopped, more panicked. Eyes returning to her, she managed to just in time dodge a fearful snap.
“Hey,” she barked out, voice rising in surprise, her stoic expression momentarily broken. “I’m not your enemy,” she could only manage to get out before this startled, very pregnant female broke into a full sprint away. Her body initially moved to chase after but she stopped. Muscles relaxed under her ebony coat as she stayed alert.
Was this all a distraction? Was this female unwell mentally? Did she cause this attack?
Well, first off, if this was a distraction this was a poor distraction. Even with several pups needing to be watched, the adults had been spread a part and provided ample watch of their small gathering. Besides, with the ration of pup to adult being high, they would have been easy pickings for any predators or enemies. The adults would need to focus more on evacuation and protecting those that needed that instead of fighting. So she was probably not a distraction, or if she was the distraction failed horribly.
Was the female unwell? Well, obviously that might be a yes. The she-wolf had been screaming about some attacker that no one had caught a whiff of and was horrible afraid of something she had no recent scars or wounds from. Her reactions were also manic, meaning she was probably not in the right state of mind at all.
Then the final question, did she, Hye-Su, cause the attack. No. She had remained a safe distance, allowing both her, and the pregnant she-wolf ample personal space while still keeping an eye on her. Hey-Su was not at fault here.
Plum eyes flickered to Wingnut, awaiting orders to either follow to make sure she is safely out of their territory or to scout their borders for anymore potential threats.

Beta WingnutIf I Don't Understand, You are the one at fault Something was happening with Rowan. His silence was unusual; the scarred male often spoke up and took the lead of the pack he created with little to no problem. Today it seemed that the sudden intrusion of a pregnant she-wolf spouting nonsense had managed to silence him. Almost automatically, Wingnut stepped ahead of the flabbergasted male, having made a personal decision about what to do with the two males when she first evaluated them. The female she hadn't made a decision on yet. She seemed unstable, a poor wolf to decide to have around the plethora of young wolves in her current mindset.
"Well? Accept me or not, I don't have forever to stand here and wait. I'm getting older by the hour here," the voice of the older male, Junichiro as Hye-Su had introduced him, gruffly barked. An unforgiving amber gaze flicked to the darker male, a slow blink greeting his comment. The second male remained silent thankfully, allowing the cinnamon Beta to speak, "Junichiro, Helios, consider yourself members of probation. If I or any other member of this pack come to the conclusion that you should not be a member of this pack, then it will be so. Now you..." Amber eyes trailed over to the heavily pregnant stranger just before she lashed out at the ebony apprentice.
A growl crawled out of the Beta's throat as she stepped towards the stranger. After sprinting into pack lands and doing nothing but quiver and cause panic, this female had no right to attack one of the pack members. Before the black stocking adorned she-wolf could take any action, the crazed female bolted from the scene. The Bet made no effort to follow her. She had caused enough trouble, she wasn't about to spend any more resources trying to prevent her from doing it again. She was so self-destructive that she likely wouldn't make it far.
With the two main problems out of the way, the Beta turned to the rest of the members of Sorelus."Karini, Hye-Su, Joy, it would be effective to do some combat training today. Chose between Junichiro, Helios, and myself. This will be training for you and a test for them," the Beta instructed the gathered wolves. It was best to start the day by organizing wolves to give them something to do. Having the pack simply lay on the ground all day would be an inefficient use of strength and potential. It would only create and encourage laziness, which wouldn't get anyone anywhere in life.

With the Alpha taking his sweet time doing nothing, Jun wondered how he had came to be the leader in the first place. His Beta was doing more work than he was, as far as Jun could tell. She should be the Alphess if he wasn't up to the task. A leader needs to take charge, not stand frozen in thought for ages when his pack needs decisions made. He gave the male a look, a mix of disappointment and irritation. Before he could force the male to pay attention, though, the Beta returned. It seemed that the pregnant female had some sort of spasm and ran off. The Beta didn't seem to care; perhaps she was also an outsider as he was. The Beta female took charge of the situation, deciding to grant the two males a probationary period within the pack. He was fine with that. This pack needed some serious waking up to the real world. They were all weak-minded and weak-bodied. They couldn't hide the younglings from reality forever. It would only make things worse when it really did hit them. And by then, it may be too late. He would not stand aside and let these young wolves die out because their leader wanted to stay stagnant. He listened as the female gathered the apprentices and instructed them to choose one of the three of them to train with. It seemed that either she had the right idea, or she noticed Jun's distaste for the insecurity in the pack and wanted to do something about it. He snuffed, his dull honey colored eyes scanning the yearlings' faces. He was interested in what this Hye-Su had hidden within her, but there was a chance she wouldn't choose him because of his scary looks. He could train that young one who couldn't even pay enough attention not to run into a tree, but she looked more scared of him than Hye-Su was. He couldn't help that he had a permanent scowl or that his body was decorated with scars from past fights. It was just how he had evolved from his past. Now he was self-conscious. What if none of them wanted to try and train with him because of how intimidating he was? He looked away from the pups, down at the ground, scowl intensifying. He was pretty terrifying, now that he thought about it. A brute as big as he wandering into another pack and asking to join to train the pups would be scary for the young ones. He didn't really think about it that way. But it was too late now. They were choosing. He closed his eyes and sighed, waiting for the youngsters to complain about having to choose this terror to spar with. Scout Hye-Su @wingnut Alpha Rowan @karini

Azrath had stayed off to the side, watching everything that was happening with the newcomers and his pack. Wingnut seemed to be the one who made the real decisions this time, Alpha Rowan seeming to stand idly by. The ivory wolf tilted his head as his snowy oculars fell onto the stranger wolves, Junichiro and Helios, watching their demeanor, unsure if he should even introduce himself to them later on. Wingnut had allowed them into their ranks for now but perhaps only temporarily so perhaps it wasn't a good idea to have a relationship with them yet. Rising to his paws, he made his way towards Wingnut, familiarity drawing him nearer to her rather than Junichiro or Helios. He nodded his head politely towards them as to not ignore them, however he sat his rump down beside his Beta waiting for any instructions from her if she had any. @wingnut @junichiro @helios

| J O Y loneliness is poverty
Joy had become momentarily lost in the atmosphere. Her chocolatey eyes were fixed on the ocean of white that had nearly swallowed every inch of the brush lands. Pods of grass desperately sprouted from beneath the endless, frozen fort, gasping for sunlight, but inevitably winter would abscond with their last hopes of life well before spring would arrive. She felt satisfied with that information, and at peace with the icy graveyard.
How dramatic. Joy averted her gaze to find Raisa, but was instead flooded with wild images of Hye-Su and the pregnant she-devil. Wingnut could hardly do anything about it by he time the rogue had vanished into the graveyard. The muted adolescent wasn't phased; the event took some time to process in her preoccupied thoughts. She found herself more interested in the rogue males, who both had made her a little curious during their introductions.
"Karini, Hye-Su, Joy, it would be effective to do some combat training today," Wingnut said indifferently. It was the first time she had suggested anything of the sort to the yearlings. She immediately grew nervous. "Choose between Junichiro, Helios, and myself. This will be training for you and a test for them." Now she had to choose a giant, experienced wolf to give her a beating and humiliate her in front of everybody? She wanted more than ever to escape to the graveyard and stay there forever, but she couldn't deny that her survival depended on this family. She had potential and she knew it; she just hadn't found her place yet. Maybe I'm a natural, she prayed as she examined each of her possible spar partners.
Helios was the first to spark her interest. He seemed to share a similar world view, but was otherwise uninteresting. Geez, is that how they see me? Junichiro was the second. She hadn't quite formulated any opinions about him besides his crude, lackluster persona. He wasn't the wolf anybody would expect to want to take care of pups. There were a few possible explanations...
1: He needed to redeem himself. With his personality, it was plausible that he'd made a lot of enemies throughout his life.
2: He was prideful, and hid his benevolent passions behind a coarse and indifferent exterior.
3: He was a pupnapper.
She wasn't convinced about the latter. He was daring with his words; if he was here to do any harm, he would have announced it upfront. Regardless, she wasn't sure, and that uncertainty didn't belong in a spar with a stranger.
Thus, her only remaining option was Wingnut, with whom she was the most familiar, though all the least comfortable. If Joy was here to learn, there was no better teacher than the one absurdly determined to do her job. She was tough, but she was nonjudgemental, an advantageous characteristic of the apathetic. If Joy were to fail, she couldn't be embarrassed, because the beta simply wouldn't care. She wasn't one to make a scene. It was perfect.
Joy gave the beta a beckoning nod, locking her warm eyes on her to indicate her decision, hoping Wingnut wasn't too straightforward to read cues. Too bad. Joy hadn't spoken a word in four months. Her maw was nearly locked shut with angst. The beta would need to instigate.

Beta WingnutIf I Don't Understand, You are the one at fault
The three yearlings around her were slow to move. Junichiro didn't make himself any more personable for the young minds to select him, and Helios seemed to be struggling internally with something in his mind, distracted by something. Amber orbs bore into the male, silently commanding him to come back into the moment that they were in, so that the solid members of Sorelus could receive some benefits and the probationary members could be evaluated by her. A young frame sidled up next to her, one of the two orphaned brothers shooting her a glace before remaining silent. The boy wasn't even a yearling yet, he definitely needed some directing.
A pale frame made an attempt to get her attention, sienna locking with amber with a silent nod, a small gesture that the mostly silent teen used to lay claim to her training. Blinking and offering a dip of her head to the rose-gold she-wolf, Wingnut quickly turned her maw to the small alabaster frame at her side."Azrath, you were wrongly excluded from the initial offer. I'm assigning you to train with Junichiro. Whichever of Hye-Su, Karini, or Simon that chooses Helios first will get to train while the others will watch unless more volunteer mentors step up," the Beta placed emphasis on the probationary male's name, her monotone voice rising in volume to snap the male's attention back into the real world. The beta stood suddenly, her frame smoothly striding past Azrath towards the apprentice that had claimed her mentorship.
Joy was truly an anomaly. She wasn't someone that Wingnut would have interacted with a year ago when she hadn't learned any emotional cues or how to act around those vulnerable. The teen was layered, quiet on the outside, but if one truly analyzed her, they would find that she was always clinging to Raisa, trying to find a mother figure within the pregnant she-wolf. She was any wolf's putty who gave her a small command. Wingnut was no motherly figure, but she could try to boost the girl's confidence in herself. With the approach of the two brothers, she had grown quieter, ghosting Simon noticeably to the analytical she-wolf. She was truly a snowflake, delicate and unique, but fragile and easily destroyed.
Flicking her head to the left as she passed her trainee, the cinnamon Beta brought her a short distance away, giving the pair of them some privacy within a comfortable distance from the pack. "Joy," Wingnut started off, her voice cutting through crisp air with its usual polished dullness, "It should be no surprise to you that you are delicate. You are what most would call 'cute.' However, this does not excuse you from not knowing how to spar or protect yourself." With a burst of speed, the Beta darted forwards, shoving her shoulder into the adolescent, sending her sprawling into the snow with enough force to knock her down but not enough to hurt her in any way. Stepping away from the blonde apprentice, Wingnut barked, "The first and most basic aspects of sparring, defence and offence. We are starting with defence. Now tell me, Joy, how do you think you could have stopped yourself from falling over, or protected yourself from attacks after you fell?" Boring her gaze into Joy's, Wingnut emphasized that she needed the teenager to use words to tell her the answer. A simple shrug was not going to cut it. A teacher was never one to assume that their students understood, instead, forcing them to think for themselves and redirecting until everything was understood.
Sparring never brought the serious she-wolf's excitement level up, rarely anything ever did, so there was no competitive energy in the air. This experience was not meant to deter the objectively soft she-wolf from sparring ever again, rather, build her up to have the skills, but Wingnut was no pushover. She was not about to let Joy finish the session without learning at least two of the basics. Would it push her? Definitely. Would Joy get upset or want to quit? There was a possibility. Was that Wingnut's intention? No. If there was something that the Beta excelled at it was finishing the job, and training Joy was going to be no different.
