OMEGA MACHA
OF
LUBRUSCA
Macha flicked her tail as she plopped her butt in the snow, in the middle of the quiet, abandoned common grounds. The damage could still be seen even with everything be covered in white. The trees were leafless. The dens collapsed. Her own small den was gone, whipped out by the fire and then buried underneath snow. Sad eyes watched the area around her, her body slowly sinking into the snow until she laid down. Cold seeping into her body the only thing keeping her awake.
She had a lot to take in. Her fathers new daughter, possibility of a... crush on Parker?! Shaking her head she kept the blondie from her mind. Watching him leave with Devika hurt her and she didn't want to feel that pain again. And now Snow Rose was back, would she still be a helper to them? Or would she just be a simple pup watcher?
Macha truly had nothing against watching the pups, the bundles of joy was enough to make her heart happy. But she wanted to be something... useful to the pack. Perhaps storming out the way she did didn't work in her favor. Kicking a snow pile she stood up quickly, cheeks puffed out as she became frustrated. Parker filtered back into her mind and for a moment she was happy he did not see how upset she was.
Also Parker didn't even explain what was going on, what was happening. Was she really so useless she couldn't even know what this stranger was doing here?! Letting out growls she paced a little in the commons, eyes angry now. Her head was confused, flopping between angry and hurt, to feeling abandoned and demanding respect. She didn't know what was going on with her and she felt like she was drowning in her own self.

He thought he would’ve been over what happened by now.
The Common Grounds were exactly in the state they’d left them in: reckless abandoned, rimmed with stories untold. An eerie air lingered in what had once been Lubrusca’s heart. How many had died here? And incinerated no less — how many rouges in search of nothing more than a sense of being, family, friendship? How many hopes dashed, swallowed in smoke? With each step another name appeared, another packmate he’d refused to remember until now. Kenai, the ornery, irritable omega that’d been none too pleased at his acceptance. Laika, the little male that stuttered. Shibaan, the sweet yearling that’d been the first to fall, and Blake, a would-be friend. Whatever had become of him? Dozens had died within moments, their legacies reduced to minute, passing memories.
It was difficult to acknowledge just how close they’d come to joining the deceased’s ranks. The right place and time, all there was too it. If they’d been another dozen or so feet in the Commons, they would’ve lost themselves to chaos, and who would’ve been any wiser? He could still taste the smoke; feel the bile’s sting burning in back of his throat. If he stilled his breathing, flames crackled, flickering in his ivory ears, remarkably hot for a winter afternoon. Shrieks cruelly severed his peace, the chaotic, desperate curses of dozens of dying—
And all that was there was Macha, schlepping through snow.
Carefully, he crept towards her, watching as she toppled a snow drift. Was she playing, perhaps? How marvelous! They hadn’t played together since first snow fall. A good session was just what they needed to rekindle the bond. Mischievously, he wriggled his haunches, preparing to pounce and tackle the tiny thing to the ground so he could pepper her with his kisses when an odd sound casually slipped from Macha’s throat. He paused, baffled. Grating, low, almost reminiscent of a growl — which was preposterous, because Macha never so much as curled her lip — and then, it struck him. Maybe the source of her agitation ran a bit deeper than Parker could ever be concerned. Either way, some fatherly investigation was in order for the two.
He didn’t want to appear too prying at first. Once she began settling down, he gently approached her from behind, hesitantly extending his forepaw so that she would respond to his touch before anything else. After Macha turned, he’d settle himself at her side, settling a snow-white tail over pale, frosted paws. “You’re upset.” Mochi remarked. “You may tell me why if you’d like. If you don’t, well,” he chuckled. “That’s fine too. If there’s anything I can do, or if it’s something that anyone did, you know I’ll have it handled in minutes. Talk to me Macha. We haven’t lately, and I want to know: what’s on your mind?”

Macha had spotted her white pelted father the moment he came into the commons but she chose to ignore him momentarily. Of course her eyes were sharp and anything that moved along her peripherals would have her attention in a second. She was a mixture of emotion and non of them pleasant. She really didn't want to talk or be around anyone, or at least she didn't think she did.
But her father had other plans as he moved his paw towards her. She stared at the appendage for a second, her heart beat quick in her chest. How long has it been since the last time they touched? More than just in passing, but when was the last time they hugged? Or spoke? A pain in throat had her breath trapped.
His paw moved away. Immediate regret. She ached for a hug and in a second she fell into his chest, sobbing. Her maw was agape and she could feel her rattled breath as it moved through her throat. She could feel the muscles in her throat vibrating, she was loud. She couldn't control that though, she couldn't stop the sobs.
After a few moments of being comforted she finally regained some composure. She could still feel the ragged breaths and the small noises she could not help but make. Gasps, whines, unaware of how loud her breathing truly was. She rested her head against his chest as she thought. She felt defeated, weak. Once again.
Pulling away she looked at him. Her face held a disappointment and anger, not all of it directed at him. His father held a face of concern, and love. Another feeling of pain on her throat and her sobs almost started again. This time she bit on her cheek, hard. She tasted blood on her tongue, not the first time. She remembered teething and the taste of that then.
"You left me!" she accused, her voice waivered, caught in her throat. "And-and, you, you just... forgot me, you replaced me with a real daughter" she whined out softly. She shuffled her feet as she tried to gather more of her thoughts. Her courage running out in front of her father. She had no reason to be so upset. Not really. But she was.
Macha kicked more snow up, not really caring that some of it was at Mochi. She wasn't aiming and she stomped around some more before rounding on him. She wasn't making eye contact or looking at his mouth. She didn't want him to talk, she was being stubborn.
"What am I to you?" She rounded on him now, eyes shinning with pain and sadness, her smaller body shook. "Am I gonna be able to help the pack? Am I worth anything here?" she cried out, frustration replacing the aching sadness. Then as she stopped and breathed, the pain came back.
"And-and... Parker," she spat out, hostility filling her veins, her mind reeling for a second from how much rage filled her body. She stood stock still, eyes wide. Why did she just do that. She started sobbing again.
"He left with Devika for an adventure, and I can't go, I can't go anywhere, I'm useless," crying again, she tried to hold back. Her small hiccups breaking through as she bit her lips closed. "Why can't I just be a normal wolf?" she whimpered as she slumped to the ground. "I hate her," she whispered, her voice shaky. Of course she didn't mean it and the pain in the words told she didn't mean it.
She buried her face in her paws, crying quietly now as she gave up.

Her mouth twitched oddly, taught with emotion he couldn’t place. She wheezed, shaking with something akin to— Grief? Betrayal? Rage? There was something supremely, heartbreakingly sad in her face that seared into his being, chockful of anguish, misery, anger, the depths of which she’d never seen before. He leaned forwards with concern, allowing her to press her pitch-dark face into his ivory fur, attempting to assure her as best he could from his angle. Had something happened? Something must have, naturally, but what? He’d never seen Macha quite like this before. Of course, there’d been the brief panic attacks in puphood, but those had always resolved with relative speed. This, as similar as it had initially appeared to him, was nothing of the sort. What he saw now was pure intangible sorrow, and he’d no idea how to even begin addressing it. Why, she hadn’t even been like this when he had first found her, lonely and lingering on the outskirts of terribly unforgiving territory. Something horrible must have happened now, to spark such sporadic change. Softly, he slid his tail up and down her back, attempting to soothe her sobbing cries, at least for long enough for him to understand whatever was the matter. "You left me," she whispered, soft eyes swimming with tears. Nothing could have broken him more completely. "And-and, you, you just forgot me. You replaced me with a real daughter." Each word ebbed with genuine anger, wrought with what must have been months’ worth of resentment. He opened his mouth instinctively to apologize, hoping to help make things right between them, only to be silenced by the severity of her gaze. "What am I to you?" Macha questioned him, shaking as she took one tentative step backwards. "Am I going to be able to help the pack? Am I worth anything here? And-and Parker," she spat with an uncharacteristic fury, her fur bristling ever-so-briefly. "He left with Devika for an adventure, and I can't go, I can't go anywhere, I'm useless." Her ragged voice grew quiet, restrained as she attempted to reel back an almost overpowering emotion. "Why can't I just be a normal wolf?"For a moment, Mochi remained perfectly silent, watching as she quietly sobbed into her forepaws. “You’re wrong,” he began hesitantly as he took a step towards Macha. “I would never forget you — and I would never replace you. You have always been irreplaceable. I knew from the first moment I first met you that you were incredibly special, and you prove it to me day after day after day even though you don’t have too. You are the best wolf I’ve ever met,” his voice dropped momentarily as he inched closer, his gaze flaming with fervent passion. “I don’t say that lightly. You are the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Don’t ever think of yourself as anything less. You bring us joy, and remind us in our darkest moments that there is still goodness in this world. That’s a rare gift, Macha. Cherish it. Dante’s pups love being around you — why, everybody does, honestly — and I love being around you most of all. You are a perfectly normal she-wolf. You just have to do things a bit differently. I’m sorry I haven’t been helping. There’s no excuses for that. Macha,” he whispered, stepping closer. “Can you forgive me?”

Macha felt a pang of regret, the look on her father's face hurt her. She hurt him. Her frown deepened and when he asked her for her forgiveness she buried her head in his chest and just cried. They were like that for a long while as her hiccups turned into deep breaths with an occasional whine. Finally the tears had stopped. She was still shaky but when she pulled back she felt better.
She looked down, embarassed. "Thank you... dad," she whispered softly, cheeks flushed. She shuffled her feet a little, extremely uncomfortable now with her reaction to everything. The sky was also growing darker as she looked to her father with a nervous smile. "What do we do now?" she asked, softly.

Macha never managed to be angry for long. It was one of the most perfectly charming parts about his sweetheart — and this, of all things, was certainly no exception. Almost instantly, an irrepressible whimper swam through the air. Moments later, Macha’s ink-stained muzzle had parted his ivory fur as she pressed her face into his chest to weep. Silently, he slipped his tail around her as his own reverent, silent reassurance. They had never been the easiest pair, already enduring more than their fair share of trials, but something like this would never wreck what they had built. They’d too many close calls, too many long nights, too many terrible and wonderful things endured to ever give up. Restorations were in order. It was time he took higher stake in how exactly his darling felt, for both her and his sake. From now on, a portion of his day would always be dedicated to spending time with her, to ensure that she never, ever again felt that she’d been forgotten. "What do we do now?" Macha rasped softly, curious as to what lay ahead. Mochi gave her a soft, beaming smile, golden eyes gleaming with the same familiar knowingness she’d always sought out. “Why, we go home of course. We’ve a lot of catching up to do.” A salmon tongue softly brushed against her forehead. “Let’s chat on the way.”Tagged: Omega Macha

Time Skip To Spring
Spring had sprung, and with it, new life.
He’d entered his third year with relative ease. Too many wolves, this would be considered the start of their prime — but he barely felt past adolescence. There was still much to learn in leading, but now it finally seemed that Lubrusca, for once in its life, was flourishing rather than floundering. Their Commons, previously incinerated by fall bonfires, had restored so that they could again live within them. Any sense of eeriness regarding past events had evaporated, as Lubrusca gave way to a young generation that had only felt the slightest touch of the flames. Ventus’s first litter, Fenrir, Lysic, Devika, and Hydran, were finally starting to assume their rightful positions at the head of the pack. Lysic, in preparation for his future role as Alpha, had been generously bestowed the rank of beta. While nervous, he’d demonstrated the dexterous work ethic such leadership roles inherently required. Hydran, on the other hand, never shook the eternal, boundless energy that marked his every move, and as a result, had been appointed Sentinel. Fenrir had maintained his apprenticeship dutifully under Snow, and showed all the signs of a remarkable Salutary. Devika, the darling, hadn’t ascended as her litter had, but her skills had grown substantially since their last meeting. Truthfully, only time would tell.
Dante’s children had all grown up in their own rights, fulfilling their roles at the pack’s much-needed subordinates. Basil had been saddled by Devika’s side as her hunting partner, with the older she-wolf gently guiding the younger. Milo and Cecilia made for a fantastic pair of scouts; equal parts swift and observant. Lastly, Nascha was a warrior; the sole male in a new addition to Lubrusca’s ranks. Warriors in Lubrsuca seemed counterintuitive to their doctrine, but with looming threats on the horizon, they provided the wolves some much needed peace-of-mind. The general, Dante, trained his son vigilantly, but perhaps the time would come when the male would need to shift his attention. After all, it never harmed scouts, who were consistently placed in harms’ way, to know a trick or two on fighting. Still, Nascha was a good pupil, studious; and Mochi was certain he’d continue to grow splendidly. Most importantly, however, Keala had grown to the point that she too had a rank to fill. It wasn’t even a matter of question. Instinctively, the lively, spirited lass flocked towards the thrills of sparring, always up for a friendly bout with any. While only six months old, she displayed remarkable spunk — imagine what her adult size would bring in turn.
The newcomers settled nicely. Sitka and Lexavein had been appointed Guardians at the time, given the pups’ size, but now without any pups on site, he could tell the two felt somewhat restless. Still, with the way Sitka eyed Dante, that may not still be the case in few months. Baron had strived to devote his absolute best to Lubrusca, and in turn, his efforts were acknowledged, with the new male receiving the rank of Delta. In terms of existing members, Parker, now a grown adult, had been made a Hunting Superior: a daunting task for the pup that’d never wanted to grow up. Still, he led Basil and Devika well, and came home toting a buck more often than not. And finally, darling Macha, also grown, had remained the same; their sweet, dependable omega. She and Parker had still maintained that — closeness he could never bring himself to be too fond of, but it was a partnership that suited the two yearlings well. Lubrusca as a whole had fallen into an intriguing familial structure, just the way Ventus had once hoped it would, and the newcomers had assimilated nicely into it. Which wasn’t to say they couldn’t stand for additional wolves — but they’d the whole day ahead of them to shift that, didn’t they?
“Morning Ventus,” He murmured, arching his back in the confines of their new Commons den. “Up and at ‘em. Orrr…” He nipped her ear, playfully furrowing his face into the side of her neck as he attempted to wake her up. “We could stay a little bit longer if you insist.” Regardless of how she responded, inevitably, the two had to rise. They’d awoken on a rare, still morning, where every wolf in whole of Lubrusca had decided to remain sleeping. Unheard of, almost, but he’d take advantage of it while he could. “We’re finally here,” He mentioned softly. “Thought this day would never come. So proud of everybody,” He quipped, sniffing the blooming wildflowers. “But I’m proud of us most of all. We did it, Ven.” He looked at her affectionately, intertwining his tail with hers. Further words were unnecessary. She knew him well enough to know exactly what he meant, and she felt it too, these past few weeks. So much had changed, but it had changed for the better. And if the past was anything to go by, the future only held lovelier things in store. He, personally, couldn’t wait to witness them for himself.
“Lubrusca’s back.”

| Alphess Ventus of Lubrusca | -Timeskip-
It seemed that finally, life in Lubrusca was looking up. Oh how she enjoyed the peace that loomed above their territory. They had finally moved from the Forest River, into the commons where they had previously resided. While most of the dens had been caved in, most of the trees that had fallen and burned were pushed out of the commons to reveal life growing underneath in the ashes. Although there were still hints of the fire that had one ravaged the territory, and the graves of her children that had not survived, her pack was slowly but surely turning for a better. Her pups had assumed their ranks within the pack rather quickly. Lysic, her eldest son, was named the Beta of the pack. He was the future Alpha, and thus had to be ready to lead the pack when her and Mochi were gone. He had displayed some very good leadership and judgement skills after the hunt they had months ago, and now he was ready to start taking on a more leadership role within the pack. Hydran as well. Her largest pup besides Devika, he was much like his father, and was named Sentinel, taking to leading the scouts and patrolling the borders for potential new members. Fenrir was still Snow Rose’s apprentice, but he was growing more and more every day with his herbal knowledge, knowing how to heal wolves on his own. Devika had stayed a hunter, only because her daughter didn’t seem quite ready to take on the title that Ventus had planned for her, but she would soon enough.
Dante’s children had also grown. Maddox became an apprentice under Snow Rose along with Fenrir, sharing a kindred spirit with the she-wolf it seemed. Milo and Cecilia were both placed as Scouts, learning from Hydran how to protect themselves at the borders, and hopefully gaining good lessons on how to be observant for incoming threats that loomed there. Scouts were the first defense for any pack, letting them know if there was incoming danger. The two worked fantastically within their roles however. Nascha was made a warrior, a rank that had recently been introduced into the pack. It had never been a rank she would have given out under any other circumstances, but with the danger that the Ferus wolf had presented, she knew they needed to start doubling on their training with each wolf, and to have battle readied wolves if needed. Basil had become a hunter alongside Devika, learning from her counterpart and bringing home prey that would feed the many mouths Lubrusca held now.
Baron, one of the newer members, had shown himself to have leadership qualities that would need cultivation, but with time and training with Lysic, he was on his way to being Lysic’s Beta once the time came. The two had grown together, becoming good friends from what she had seen. What Lysic lacked, Baron brought forth. They were the perfect pair to one day lead the pack as Alpha and Beta. Parker had displayed grand efforts in hunts, and becoming one of the many wolves she depended on within the pack, and was named the Hunting Superior. Lexavein and Sitka had been prepared as Guardians for the pups as they grew, but now that there were no pups to watch over for Lubrusca, they were more often than not helping out with hunts or scouting the territory. But once more litters came, they would be back to babysitting. The two seemed to enjoy it well enough, and she was glad they had accepted such kind hearted wolves into their pack. Macha had remained an Omega, the deaf she-wolf not finding a good place for herself to strive in. The dangers of hunting and scouting made Ventus weary of having her in the hunting grounds or at the borders, but Mochi’s adopted daughter was being trained at least on how to defend herself if the time came.
Ranks had been filled, and Ventus was more than happy that her pack was finally thriving. With that, came the ease of waking up without feeling as if the world were sitting on her shoulders. Orange eyes fluttered open as Mochi greeted her for the morning, a loving smile placed on her lips as she looked up at her mate. He had been the reason she was able to keep pushing. After the fire, she hardly was a leader. She was a mother, stricken by grief over her lost mate, as well as her newly lost children. She could barely hold herself together. And now, with him by her side, she felt like she could do anything. Only giving a small shake of her head, she rose to her paws, following him out of the den. It wasn’t as big as the one she had before, but alas, smaller spaces meant there were more wolves to be found in the commons. As they came out, she listened to Mochi, watching the brute as he moved about. He came back, intertwining his tail with hers, and she leaned into him, sighing. “Our home is back,” She whispered, looking up at him with eyes filled with hope. “I couldn’t have done it without you,” She whispered, giving his cheek a lick.

Salutary Snow Rose
Pretty brown eyes and a mind full of thoughts
-- Timeskip: Unspecified-- It was strange to have returned to the Commons Grounds after the terror that had broken Lubrusca and brought the pack to it's knees. It was the day that she had arrived when everything went wrong, when the plume of smoke swept through the air and the searing fire quickly followed, it had been one of Snow Rose's biggest challenges. So many memories had returned to her that day, horrid thoughts of the similarities between what had happened to her old family and what was happening to the new one that she had only just found. But as any good Salutary should, she persevered. She ran until her legs almost gave out from underneath her, yet she still pushed herself with the task of running around making sure all of the survivors were cared for. It had been difficult, but she had proven her abilities to her pack-members, showed them how dedicated she was, and reminded herself just how hard she had worked to be able to do the things that she took so much pride in.
It had all paid off in the end. Snow Rose was so grateful to be where she was, laying in a den that she had never gotten the chance to claim on her first day. It was a small cave-like structure made from a formation of rocks that leaned against each other on the outskirts of the Commons. It had become the perfect place for her to rest, store herbs and keep patients if they were sick enough or needed to be observed.
Their mini migration back to the Common Grounds was accompanied by the growth of the pups that had once waddled between their legs. Ventus' children had found their places within the pack while Dante's litter were following in their paw-steps. Fenrir was well on his way to becoming a fully-fledged Salutary who would work by her side as his confidence grew, but the path leading towards a Salutary's ranking was long and arduous. But he was doing well in his studies, well enough to go without her help in some cases. It brought her a great amount of pride to see her first apprentice nearing the completion of her teaching, and she was now moving most of her attention to Maddox as he began along the path that Fenrir was concluding. The little white boy's enthusiasm had been an encouraging start, and he was learning almost as quickly as she had when her mother taught her all those years ago. It made her feel complete. Her life had been dedicated to bringing health and happiness to everybody around her, and now she had been given the honour of passing on her knowledge for future generations to carry on with the ways that she had been taught, and with the ways in which she hoped to make the world a better place.
Lubrusca hadn't heard anything more about the horrors that were supposedly brewing within the mountains in the North. Ebony, Flint and Kai had yet to return, which wrapped her with concern yet brought a strange sense of comfort and gratefulness as she soaked in the fact that she was able to enjoy this beautiful morning curled up inside her spacious den with barely anything troubling her mind. She just hoped they were all okay...
Eventually, Snow Rose brought herself out into the open, basking in the delicious warmth of the spring morning for a few seconds before making her way to the centre of the Commons. It seemed that she had been the first to rise to witness this beautiful morning, her nose already catching the scent of numerous flowers blooming under the golden sunlight after having been folded away during the dark of night. The she-wolf couldn't have been more content as she sat in the glistening dew-damp grass, her warm brown eyes scanning the bright blue sky, tracing the fluffy white clouds that drifted overhead. It was the perfect way to wait for the day to start.

It had been a year since Elenor had passed on.
Oh, how proud she would’ve been to see the pups now! The months that’d elapsed since winter served them nicely. Maddox had assumed his apprenticeship, electing to pursue the painstakingly studious path of a Salutary. Strange — given what a rough-and-tumble pup he’d been, Dante would’ve assumed he’d rather pursue the path of a warrior — but he’d been supportive nonetheless. The pup flourished under Snow’s gentle sweet teachings, and learned quickly; just in time to replace Fenrir’s previous position as the boy slowly began his ascension to a full-fledged Salutary. Cecilia and Milo, in the meanwhile, had been made Hydran’s scouts. A finer pairing he couldn’t have approved of. Where Milo was swift and agile, Cecilia was sharp-eyed, observant and analytical. Nothing could slip past them. Basil had been made a Hunter, working alongside her Cousin Devika. A more perfect mentor couldn’t have existed. Devika was sweet, but also playful; the perfect blend for a pup that doubtlessly got bored after long lecturing days. And lastly, there was Nascha, who’d been made a warrior. His studious little owlet didn’t quite scream “menacing,” but then again, neither did he, and he’d dedicated himself so fully to his task he was certain he’d make a wonderful, marvelous warrior.
It seemed that everybody in Lubrusca had grown, in one way or another. Ventus’s first litter had reached adulthood, and inherited all the responsibilities that came with it, but it was difficult to discern them from the children he knew. Devika was still the puny, trembling pup that looked at him like he could move mountains and called him “Dad.” How could she have ever been any different? Even now, when she stood before him, beautifully mature and elegant, the change felt high-near incomprehensible. The same went to her brothers Hydran and Lysic. Mere seasons ago, they were both mischievously rambunctious, forever eager to learn, and now he’d nothing more to teach them. Now, they were heading the pack, honing the skills he and their parents had taught them. It was near too much to consider, that the same pups he’d pummel with snowballs and romp through the drifts with were Lub’s leaders in the best rite. Fenrir had grown up well under Snow Rose to boot, almost ready to assume position as Lubrusca’s second Salutary. He wouldn’t have expected anything less, especially from Fenrir, the forever brilliant. No matter where he looked, Dante felt a fantastic confidence that Lubrusca was in the best hands.
The newcomers and old-timers had developed in their own right as well. Baron, the rogue he’d met at the borders, had proven himself to be an exceptional Delta, fulfilling the rank with ease. Parker, Lub’s beloved mischief-maker, had been appointed Hunting Superior, and led with that stroke of youthful genius many strived for but few attained. Ebony had yet to return from his mission with Flint, and as the days progressed, he’d a sinking suspicion he’d never, but he still maintained faith, as futile as it was. Kai had also mysteriously fled, vanishing suddenly in the night — why, he never figured it out, but there had been a distinct scent that had been radiating off of her for weeks. Sickness, perhaps? Nobody had ever managed to figure it out for certain. Lexavein had been appointed a Guardian, as had Sitka. His children had always been fond of both she-wolves, but had been wonderfully fond of the latter, always filled with tales of all the fantastic fun they’d had throughout the day. In all honesty, he was fond as well. She was sweet, amiably brilliant in the way Elenor had been, and though he could never tell if he was imagining it, he could sworn that she looked at him with some sort of fondness too.
There was a part of him that sincerely hoped it was imagination. It would make everything so very uncomplicated, but then again, there’d been nothing uncomplicated about his relationship with Elenor either. Hardships were given, and he was no stranger to struggle, but there was a fear attached to the possibility of starting something new. What, pray tell, would Elenor have thought? He’d sworn to love her to the end of time. Did moving on betray that notion? What’s more, had he not told his children time and time again that the love he had for their mother was undying? What would they think if he were to move on? No, no, it was too much to consider at the moment. For now at least, he’d be content to keep up the friendship from a distance and see what paths it led him too from there. And besides, there was always the possibility he’d imagined the whole silly thing to start with. Sitka was young, and what’s more, having a host of fine suitors to pick from. There was no logical reason from her to have pursued a wolf like him. Such thoughts brought him a distinct sort of comfort.
Regardless, the time had come to rouse his pups from their slumber. Languidly, he lifted himself onto his paws, shaking out the host of loose sorrel fur spring had decided to yield from his pelt. Though he would never admit it, there was a deep sadness in knowing his pups no longer shared the same den. It was to be expected, of course — they were a year, after all, but he still missed them terribly. He’d simply take advantage of the time they had now. First stop was the Salutary Apprentice den, hidden in a swathe of sweet-smelling brush. “Oh Doxie,” He sang out, rustling a few especially fragrant branches. “Rise and shine. New day’s ahead.” Next came Milo and Cecilia’s, paired side by side. Milo received a soft nip on the straightened ear that had previously flopped and dipped about; Cece, a bop on the nose, much to her chagrin. Then came Basil. Carefully, he crept up to the crevice of her den, knowing the other hunters lingered near, and shook her shoulder gently with an extended paw, tousling her fur. Lastly came Nascha, who slept closest to his den. He received a gentle nip on the nose, something playful, jesting. “Up and at ‘em owlet. Long day ahead.”

It had been a pleasantly busy few months in Lubrusca. The warm caress of spring was a welcome change from the ice and snow of before, the return of the sun coaxing forth life in the territory. Devika herself had grown into a confident hunter, even being granted a student of sorts. Basil was a darling, willing to learn if not a bit reserved at times. Even so, the hulking lupess adores her, always eager to teach her new ways to sneak up on quail, to take down doe, to wait patiently at gopher holes for that telltale peep of a nose - Needless to say, Devika’s been enjoying the opportunity to teach. As for the new wolves, they had integrated themselves among them nicely, like bits of a puzzle they hadn’t known they were missing. Lexavein was active and playful, a joy to have around. Bringing the spirits of others up seemed to be a particular skill of hers, and Dev can’t say she doesn’t adore her for it. As for the other female, Dev liked to think herself good friends with Sitka, earnest in her desire to cultivate a good relationship with what she hoped would be her father-figure’s future infatuation. So happy they made each other! Devika cannot wait for the moment their dance around one another came to an end; Sitka was a sweetheart, and Dante deserved a world of happiness. Perhaps Sitka would one day be his world. As for Baron - well. Devika found herself drawn to the ebony brute, his low voice and firm demeanor like a rock in a river of ever-changing emotions. He was a strong leader, and got along with Lysic nicely, proving to be unfailingly dependable no matter what problems arose. She was self aware enough to know she was harboring a crush on the stoic lupine. Though the alabaster bitch never acted upon it, she found herself coming up with little reasons to request his company. A question about his life before, a gentle inquiry about the places he’d been. Who had he met on his travels? Though at first his answers had been short and to the point, eventually he would indulge her with tales told in that soothing baritone that she so enjoyed. She knew she was only digging herself a deeper hole, stoking the small flame that had taken root in her heart. Even so, it would remain her guilty pleasure - no need to bring her feelings to the surface and potentially complicate a good thing. Just last night, she had steeled herself for the bittersweet ache that now came with his presence. The brute had decided to stay up and keep watch for a while, and Dev had decided - what was the harm in joining him? Taking place by his side, they had talked well into the night until the frost kissed wolf had eventually dozed off. Now, as morning light peers through the canopy above, she blinks open emerald eyes and nuzzles her cheek into the soft pillow she rested upon. Black? Her sleep-addled mind idly wonders, remnants of the fire? But to her extreme chagrin, clarity comes quickly. She had fallen asleep on Baron’s shoulder! Quickly jerking her head up and staring with mortified anguish at where she had left a few pristine white hairs upon his shoulder, she prays to every deity out there that perhaps he was asleep. Alas, as she raises her gaze to meet his, she finds him wide awake and well aware. ”I’m sorry,” she whispers, cheeks surely red under her fur. ”I didn’t mean to fall asleep on you.” As wolves around her begin to stir, she can only be thankful that no one else had witnessed her little slip. Post by Hunting Superior Parker on Jul 9, 2019 20:51:11 GMT -8
Having a job wasn't nearly as bad as he thought it would be. It had initially been a shock when he had gotten the position. Parker had been sure that Devika was going to get the position, with her being the Alpha's first daughter and all, but apparently, Ventus and Mochi had other ideas. Nevertheless, leading the hunts was fun, especially with Basil and Dev on his side. Sadly, his love hadn't progressed any further up the ranks, but that didn't stop him from adoring her any less. The deaf she-wolf was just as sweet, and Parker enjoyed seeing her every day. Waking up was still just as bad. With dreams of a deer so close to falling vanishing before his eyes, he was forced to wedge open grey orbs and greet the day, deerless. Coming back to the commons after all those months passed, Parker was still able to find the den he had first built. It was tiny compared with the size he had grown into, but the nostalgia of the original den drove him to expand and stay in it. The memories of Joktan, the hulking pale male that had mercifully brought him into Lubrusca, would remain with him forever. Crawling out of his den, the Hunting Superior scanned the faces that were already awake. Snow was awake, Dante going around to wake his children and no doubt, Ventus and Mochi were awake within their den. What the plans were for today he didn't quite know, but it would probably result in him orchestrating a hunt. Even with his new and improved rank, he didn't call the shots anywhere other than the hunting grounds. Looking for his darling, Parker kept an ear out for either of the Alpha's words as he looked around for Macha. Omega Macha @mochi Alphess Ventus Salutary Snow Rose @dante @everyone

O M E G A M A C H A O F L U B R U S C A
Over the last few months a lot has happened for her. First was that Parker confessed to her, both a surprise and joy to her heart. She can see her father's disapproval but he hasn't said anything to her, or at least as far as she knows. The other thing, although not directly related to her, was Parker's increase in rank. He was now a Hunting Superior and she couldn't be more proud of him.
However, much to her disappointment was her lack of improvement in ranks. She still couldn't find her place, but she still tried regardless. Although, as she grew older she began to realize omega wasn't just a title to those who couldn't offer anything. Although she couldn't hear, she could offer her attention and company; which most seemed to welcome.
This morning, she could feel the slight vibrations in the ground of someone moving past her den. Creaking one eye open she peered outside to spot Dante roaming about. Watching closely she watched him wake his children, one by one. Smiling to herself she laid her head down, just out of her den entrance. She spotted Cece coming out her den, using the lip to scratch her back before making her way to her father's side.
Vague thoughts of having pups of her own flicked its way into her head. She blinked rapidly, head raising in slight alarm. She was barely two and already the thought of such adult things made her blush deeply. She knew she didn't want any now, but the thought of the future, with pups by her side and a mate on the other filled with unspeakable joy. Spotting Parker in the commons only further brought out these feelings.
Sighing dreamily she watched him for a moment, before realizing he was looking for her. How adorable, she cooed to herself. Guess its time to go greet the day, smiling, she pushed herself out of the den. With a flick of her tail she bounded her way towards Parker. Rising up on her back legs she swung her front legs over his back and gave him an affectionate nuzzle at the base of his neck.
"What's up butt-er-cu-p?" she asked, purposefully enunciating buttercup the way she did. She had changed her speech a little, taking her slight mispronuciations and such as her knew of slang. She mostly only did such a thing with her dad and Parker, others kind of looked at her weird or sometimes they didn't understand. Which was fine! She was okay with doing this special thing with her two most beloved men.

Over the course of the last few months, Lubrusca had become more of a home to Baron than any other place he had ever resided, besides the very den he was born in with his strong siblings. It seemed so long ago, a pang of guilt wracked through him as he forgot his mothers scent, but not how soft her pelt was nor the way it would shine in the glow of morning. He missed her sometimes, certain wolves reminding him of her. He wondered if she would be proud of him, newly appointed Delta of a pack he was rather new to, his stoic attitude was something his fellow pack members respected and his strength was something they knew they could depend on. Another thought presented itself to him as he padded his way through the night to keep watch, too much was going on outside the pack for him to sleep very well, but sleep was something he was more than willing to sacrifice for the peace of mind that when everyone woke up, Lubrusca would still be here if he had anything to say about it. A familiarly soft scent wrapped itself around him as the large white hunter that had initially greeted him at the border some months ago decided to keep him company. The white and black wolves lay together, eventually her solid weight pressed against him, the pressure ever comforting, tempting him to give in to sleep but he did no such thing. Hours passed and it was morning when Devika finally moved, sleep loosening its strong grip on her, where her head had been resting on his shoulder leaving his fluffy pelt somewhat pressed down in that spot, sparse white hairs left on ebony. He turned his head to look at her, reading the uneasiness that surrounded her as she uttered a panicked apology then explains that she hadn't meant to fall asleep there. Baron didn't mind at all, it was her company that gave him the strength to make it through the night. "No harm done, i'm glad you were comfortable with all the snoring you did."he teases with a soft smirk, then he turns his head away, laying his head on his outstretched black paws, feeling quite tired now that the sun was coming up.
