He simply couldn’t wait any longer.
Of course, Flint knew he wouldn’t exactly receive the best response going to Lubrusca, but he’d expected better — and by better, he meant sense. He’d already wasted a large amount of time attempting to convince them otherwise. They’d settled themselves against from the start. It had been incredibly hopeless, but he’d given it his truest effort, and no one could say otherwise. The fact that nobody had regarded has message had been quite the blow though.
Languidly, he looked to the horizon, shuddering within a wintry breeze. Kai and Ebony implied they were coming, but who could say for certain whether they would? Every wolf they were fond of had begged them to reconsider, and reluctance had no place on their journey. If they were not willing to devote themselves to their absolute fullest, to sacrifice everything they had to give, and lay down life and limb, than frankly, it’d be best if they stayed behind. Even now, he wasn’t sure if Kai and Ebony were completely willing to join the cause, bold as they were.
He’d give the two of them till sunset, no later, then less. After that, he would have no choice but to move on.

@fenrir @flint @ebony @kai The Hunting Grounds definitely didn't look as bountiful has she imagined it to be during the warmer months. The clearing that they had emerged into was covered in the same dusting of snow that had swept over the rest of Lubrusca, and the wall of trees that should have been encasing the Hunting Grounds had been burnt into charred remnants of what Snow Rose could only imagine had once been a gorgeous corner of Lubrusca's territory. The she-wolf had never gotten the chance to explore much of the land before flames had brought it all crashing to the ground, so she could only wait with building anticipation for spring to finally arrive and melt away all the snow, flooding the ground beneath them with water and sunlight, which would hopefully encourage the new growth to appear faster.
Her hopes of foraging for herbs had been all but diminished as soon as she realised that the Hunting Grounds had been left in the same charred condition as the majority of the territory. However, her hope for some kind of snack was still very much a possibility as she set her caramel sights on a small group of wild chickens as they scratched through the layers of ice, hoping to find some kind of sustenance beneath. As Snow Rose shifted her body to address Fenrir, she finally noticed that they were not alone within the Hunting Grounds. It seemed that Flint had had the idea of retreating here to talk with Ebony and Kai to discuss the issue that presented itself to the Ferus wolves earlier in the winter months. It was a topic that Fenrir had obliged to catch her up on whilst they made the small trip to the Hunting Grounds, and it was a subject that made her feel sick to the stomach. Snow Rose hoped that what Flint had suggested wasn't true, but their presence in the Hunting Grounds would go ignored for now, as the salutary instead gave her attention to her apprentice, a cheeky grin giving life to her features and extinguishing the remaining gauntness that haunted her figure.
"So, are you any good at hunting poultry?" She quizzed, hoping that the male would be able to assist her weakened state one last time by catching her a chicken or two. She hated having to rely on Fenrir like this, it wasn't fair to the young male, but Snow Rose just needed something substantial to put in her stomach to help get her strength back.

As they entered the territory, it became apparent to Fenrir that he would't be getting much learning done here. The ash mixed with the snow, and while the ash itself laid a foundation for the flora to grow once more, the ground itself was still recovering, its process slowed by the freezing of winter. The once thick and staggered trees were now scattered hollow trunks and stumps still blackened by the fires. He felt disheartened because he had hoped to spend time with Snow doing what she loved and just relaxing for a bit. On the edge of the grounds was the Ferus wolf that had drafted two of their own to go with him, waiting idly by for his two partners. While he was busy staring at the intruder on their lands, Snow was finding something to snack on. She caught his attention, his gaze moving from wolf to chicken. He nodded to his mentor, his tail wagging slightly. This was certainly something he could do. Chickens were fast, but manageable. Not like a rabbit or sparrow. "Yes, ma'am. I may not be good enough to be a hunter, but I can catch a few chickens." He was quiet, focused on a task he felt held the utmost importance. She as starving, the least he could do would be to provide a fresh meal after all this time of barely eating at all. He nodded to her, then crouched down, creeping towards the group of hens. He licked his lips, taking extra time and care to make sure he didn't mess up. Every now and again he would look back at Snow to see her watching patiently, no expectation in her eyes for him to excel at something he wasn't really born good at. It hurt him to know that he wasn't a natural-born hunter or warrior, someone who could make his parents swell with pride. It made him think he wasn't a good enough wolf. But Snow didn't push any of those thoughts onto him, he never saw it in her gaze or the way she taught him. She was always so patient and caring. It calmed his nerves, enough that he could return back to the task at hand with a clear mind. When he was just a few feet away, he laughed himself into the small group of prey. He used his jaws to close around the neck of one hen while his paw managed to pin the wing of another. He quickly slung the chicken in his mouth to snap its neck and drpped it to kill the second one as well before it slipped out form under him. The others had already flown off by the time he finished the second, leaving him no more time to catch another. Maybe if he was good at hunting he could have caught three or maybe even four. He looked over at his mentor, licking his lips of the blood that began to stain his muzzle. He offered a small wag of the tail as he brought the hens over to her. "I'm sorry I wasn't able to catch more. I hope this will be enough." He bowed his head respectfully and backed off a step and sat down. Salutary Snow Rose

Salutary Snow Rose
The girl who's always smiling
For a moment, Snow Rose had thought it rather idiotic to have asked Fenrir to hunt for her. She knew that her apprentice wasn't very confident when it came to the skill, and it almost sadden her to watch him doubt himself whenever moments like these arose. But the male stepped up to aid her once again, his self-less actions proving that he would one day make a fine Salutary. "Yes, ma'am. I may not be good enough to be a hunter, but I can catch a few chickens." Fenrir doubted himself once more, just as she had predicted, but he approached her request none-the-less, moving his larger body towards the group of chickens with little hesitation. Snow Rose wasn't sure if she could be any prouder of her apprentice, watching with keen eyes as he grew closer. Every time he looked back over his shoulder, she would give him an encouraging nod, a smile blossomed into her cheeks and her tail swaying happily. Success! Fenrir managed to catch two juicy looking chickens in no time at all! Snow Rose yipped happily as he began trotting back to her, absolutely thrilled to see the young male push past his doubts.
"That was excellent, Fennie!" She praised, using the cutesy name that she had called him when he was still a pup. "Your mother would be so proud, I know I am," Snow Rose continued, watching as he dropped the two hens at her feet. She knew that he still lacked confidence in his hunting skills, but he had definitely improved since she last watched him and his siblings hunt, and even though it wasn't a giant moose that he had just taken down, Snow Rose was sure that Ventus would be just as proud as she was to see her little boy flourishing.
"I'm sorry I wasn't able to catch more. I hope this will be enough." Fenrir spoke, bowing his head before sitting down. Jeez, what did Snow Rose do to deserve such a good kid? "Don't be silly," she chimed with a lilting giggle, "this is perfect, thank you." Snow Rose finished, attempting to squash any last doubts that the youngling may have had before she lowered her muzzle and began removing mouthfuls of feathers to reveal the pristine white flesh that she sought. It didn't take her long to devour the duo, the thrumming ache in her stomach dimming as she ate her fill, staining her beautiful face with shades of crimson. Snow Rose made sure not to leave a scrap of meat on either chicken, not wanting to let any of Fenrir's hard work go to waste...that and she was hungry enough to consider eating the bones, but was smart enough to know she would probably end up choking on the small and delicate portions.
Snow Rose began licking her stained lips as she took a step away from the carcasses, a satisfied grin stretched across her face. Their journey to the Hunting Grounds had proven successful, despite the lack of herbs to be found. Though it was as this thought crossed her mind that an incredibly subtle smell tickled her nasals, brow furrowing as she lowered her nose to the ice to inspect what she thought she was smelling. Yes, it was right at her paws, beneath the snow. Wasting no time, she gently swept a paw through the ice, digging away the layer of snow that hid a small green sprout pushing up through the mix of dark soil and remaining ash. Snow Rose chuckled as she immediately identified the plant. "Of course," she remarked, looking from the small plant towards Fenrir, "it's a mint sprout. The stuff grows like weeds, so it doesn't surprise me that it would be the first plant to begin growing. It also survives brilliantly year-round, which means that it doesn't struggle with the suppression of snow and cold climate, making it an excellent plant for a Salutary to use." The she-wolf rambled, excited to have found something growing within the cold. Perhaps it was a sign of better times to come for Lubrusca, a surety of healing and renewal for the pack that had suffered through so much. Warmth filled her with this thought before she looked to Fenrir, tilting her head to the side as she was keen to see if her apprentice knew anything of her the herb. "Have I told you about the use of mint yet?" Snow Rose quizzed, intrigued to see if the male would be able to tell her anything about the small plant, and ready to spill everything she knew if he was still unaware of the little plant's greatness.

He knew Snow wasn't going to scold him or anything for only catching two chickens, but he didn't expect her to yip excitedly and exclaimed the nickname he hadn't heard in so long, one that warmed his heart and calmed his doubts. Even if the pack was changing, for the better or worse, Snow would always be the same caring mentor he was so fond of. He hoped nothing would ever cut their time short. He had to look away as he felt his face heat up at the white wolf's assurance of his mother being proud had she seen what he just accomplished, bashful. Her giggle brought a smile to his face, looking back at her to watch her ripping the feathers from the two birds, then dig right into the meat. He had to admit, watching how she ate like it was the best thing she had ever eaten made his stomach give a low rumble. He would need to eat soon as well, but for now he had chased the prey from the immediate area scaring the hens. When he brought himself from his thoughts he was surprised to see she had picked the bones practically clean of any meat that was on them. He blinked, Snow licking her lips and backing away from the carcasses. Then, with a few sniffs, she was redirected to the snow. He watched as she tracked the scent and dug into the ground, revealing a small sprout forcing its way towards the sun, a sign of resilience and rebirth for the area, and the pack itself. His mentor revealed it to be mint, a strong, weed-like plant capable of growing in the harshest conditions. He listened happily to her ramble about the plant, but became nervous when she turned her attention to him to quiz him on the uses of the plant. Had he seen the plant? It was just a little sapling, he couldn't really tell its shape all that much. He wasn't as good as she was. He hadn't been practicing learning new herbs since she had been sick, either. "Ummm," he stuttered, his ears flattening against his skull in embarrassment. "It helps with... upset stomach and sore throats, right?" He seemed to remember using something described as "minty" for a sore throat a while back. Salutary Snow Rose

- Beta Ebony - Someone who cannot hate something, cannot love something, either. Ebony lacked the innocence to meet Snow Rose’s gaze as he came upon the hunting grounds. Hers was the first scent he discerned against the droves of flora and fauna that evaded the winter’s biting cold. He knew it well now, her ambient bouquet of lavender with herbal undertones. As he passed her, a fit of desire, made frenzied by dread, enveloped him and festered his bones until he felt he could not make his way across, where he knew he’d lose the strength to refrain form looking back.
He paid his final attention to Flint only as well as he could. Once Ebony had acquired a target, it was all he could do but to pursue it, but Snow Rose seemed to veer his interest towards her like a magnet at every inconvenient opportunity. He wished she had stayed behind at the river so he would not have to see her again, to be reminded once more of her fate.
There were a couple reasons why Ebony had chosen to join Flint in his quest to eradicate the enemy: One; he was curious to confront the predators that drove his family to death by madness. Two; it was in his duties to Ventus to protect her pack from all things that threatened their lives and well-being. And among the latter, Ebony felt particularly obliged to do this for her, Snow Rose. He was insensitive to watching children burn and females be slaughtered by unworldly beasts, but the thought of her—he could not fathom well to picture it, and the thoughts scurried away after every attempt to break him. So, now, two reasons had turned to three, and he was sure to find more if he dared lock eyes with her again. So he avoided scrutiny as distance closed between them. His eyes throbbed as every nerve fought to lock them on Flint, his jaw taut so as not to utter a passing word. He begged to ignore her ivory blur in his peripherals, but her vibrant aura still drew the wedge of his interest, and as distance obscured her figure he prayed she would not look upon his face.It was sunset. The auburn reflections on the snowy surface and every other indication of the day’s end meant his time was up, and he’d never see a Lubruscan sunrise again. He never thought he could feel attached to something so simple as the sun climbing over a particular mountain, or lavender aromas, or someone’s eyes, or someone. And suddenly all he could feel was determination to save those things and experience them all again.“I’m ready,” he muttered with eyes burning with purpose.

Salutary Snow Rose
The girl who's always smiling
Fenrir's response to her question was interesting to say the least, and her response would have to be carefully crafted in order to avoid damaging his fragile confidence, which she had been trying so hard to build up ever since she took him under her wing. The young male had described the properties of water mint instead of the wild mint that sprouted before them. Snow Rose was impressed that he had been able to recall the uses of the similar plant, it wasn't exactly hard to find in the area that they used as their Common Grounds, but now was the time for Fenrir to learn about a whole new kind of plant, which excited her. He was learning so much and his repertoire was certainly expanding.
Snow Rose gently shook her head before she began speaking, the smile on her lips never fading, "A similar mistake that I made when I was your age," she brushed off his error with little worry, "you described the uses of water mint, this, however, is wild mint, and once fully grown will look somewhat different from it's aquatic counterpart." Snow Rose explained before she went into more detail. "Wild mint, also known as corn mint or field mint, grows to look and act much like a weed, but it's fluffy purple-white flowers, vibrant colour and unmistakable scent is what gives it away. I mainly use it to calm my patients when they're feeling anxious or panicked by having them smell or eat it. Other wolves generally use this to cover their scent by rolling through it because of its strong smell that tends to cling to the pelt. So wild mint is definitely a handy little plant." Snow Rose, as usual, managed to ramble on long enough to probably bore any uninterested wolf, but she knew that Fenrir would be listening keenly to her every word as he usually did with her teachings.
Snow Rose realised it was getting late when she watched the ivory white snow become stained with the amber hues of sunset. It was unwise for them to stay out here as night fell, neither of them being quite adequate enough to fend off whatever nocturnal predators that might end up crossing paths with them. "We better start heading back," she commented with silvery tones, her paws dragging against the snow as she shifted to begin walking in the direction of the river, yet her honey eyes lingered elsewhere, upon the similarly retreating form of Ebony.
Something within her began to pang with regret as she watched him walk away. Maybe it was because she knew that this might be the last time she would ever see him again. Her throat began to burn for reason she couldn't quite understand as she forced herself to look away, the smile that had stuck to her lips from the moment they had entered the Hunting Grounds finally fading from her maw as she left Ebony behind—or more accurately, as he left her behind.

He felt his spirits drop as his mentor slowly shook her head, confirming his fear that he didn't know the plant, as useful as she said it was. But with her explanation he recovered slightly, content that at least he had guessed a kind of mint and not some other plant entirely. He listened intently, nodding in affirmation that he was absorbing her words to the best of his ability. He would have to go over this a few more times to recognize the difference between the two herbs, but as with all things, practice makes perfect. And with Snow Rose back in action, maybe he could skip out on sparring too... The light-colored female drew his attention, beckoning him back to the center of the territory where they could rejoin the pack and be safe from any larger animals or intruders that may lurk in the darkness. As much as he would like to pretend to be tough, Fenrir knew he wasn't in any fighting shape to take down a bear or another wolf. So he caught up with Snow and matched her pace at her shoulder, his head held up for the first time in months. He was regaining his spirit again just as the salutary was regaining her strength. He looked up at her to see her smile fading, like she was turning away and saying goodbye. He glanced behind them to see Ebony and Flint. Did she harbor something for the dark male? Was she denying herself any attachment, knowing that he was heading off on a mission he may not come back from? Either way, it wasn't his business. He picked up the pace as they made a brisk walk back to the river. EXIT TO: Forest River Salutary Snow Rose @ebony

He’d secretly hoped, somewhere in his deepest, innermost self, that she would be the one to come forwards. It had been months, a lifetime since they’d last seen each other, but he’d been certain that it’d all remain the same. The faint, tender fondness that flickered beneath his blazing gaze lingered, although he’d detected no trace in hers. How unfortunate, he felt, although he couldn’t say with certainty he hadn’t been expecting something of this sort. They’d a complex friendship at best, all the pieces for proper companionship, but they’d never fitted them properly, and perhaps this was how they were always meant to be. To forever be two outcasts wandering on society’s fringes, relishing whatever scant, meager scraps of conversation they could find with each other. They’d no one else after all. If he closed his eyes, he could vaguely imagine another world beyond their own, imprinted deeply inside his eyelids, where things would’ve different, and they would’ve met in another time beyond theirs. Quite futile, pitiful fantasies, but he found an odd sort of comfort in them, imaging a world in which she wouldn’t hate him for the pain, atrocities, crimes he’d committed against her people, especially considering it was already too late to make amends in this. He imagined spotting a shimmer of white fur in the sunlight. Her scarred head would creep over the cusp of the hills, and the whole of her would emerge, bright-eyed and sharp-tongued and eager to begin as ever. That wasn’t the case. The wolf that emerged was naturally none other than Lubrusca’s Beta Ebony, dark and determined to drive forward. Flickers of flame bathed his black fur as he surveyed his land for what could well be his last. A noble sentiment — especially from such a non-sentimental male. He swallowed his disappointment. Ebony was strong, notably clever. He’d be a fine asset to his cause. Warily, he waited for the male to reach his side, acknowledging him with a nod. Ebony, as proper as ever, claimed he was ready to set off on their journey. “Well then,” Flint quipped, his eyes gleaming with a soft, imperceptible sadness. “What are we waiting for then? Let’s move.”

| Alphess Ventus of Lubrusca | The orange lupine made her way into the hunting grounds, looking over the snow covered land with timid orange eyes. She didn’t possess the same spark she had when she first looked upon this land, and it was known that she may never have it again. But, she called this place home and it warmed her heart to see that at least some of the territory still lay perfect and only touched by the delicate hand of snow, the devastating fire that ravaged the rest of the territory had left this portion alone. It was ironic. Fate played a cruel hand of destroying the commons where many lost their lives, but hadn’t taken their source of food, and had left it relatively untouched. It was a cruel joke, and Ventus could only shake her head, feeling the wave of terror rushing over her as she thought back to that day. Pushing it to the back of her head, she knew that she couldn’t exhibit any nervous ticks or weak tendencies. She had new pack members to assess, and they would be the start to Lubrusca’s new life. She took a deep breath, the scents that she was so familiar with washing over her senses with a welcoming grasp. However, there was one that caught her off guard. Ebony’s scent was fresh, and it was almost as if it were coming from the edge of the territory. Where had her Beta headed off to? Had he taken the initiative to go with Flint, to explore the nonsense that the Ferus wolf sprouted?
She knew that Ferus would only want to see Lubrusca rid of the territory, as they would then be able to claim it for themselves. But the fact that the black male had come all this way to find willing participants for his little exploration rooted fear within the she-wolf. With Ebony gone, they were down a warrior and one of her best fighters. Mochi and Dante were capable soldiers and could handle anything thrown their way, but would they be able to take on the looming threat that Flint spoke of. She knew that now was not the time to think about this, but she willed herself to think positively about her beta’s departure. He’ll return home to you, and he’ll return alive. She would have to keep telling herself that until it were true. And hopefully Ebony’s return was swift and that he found nothing of importance and the Ferus wolf was simply spouting lies.
The rest of the members would be waiting on her by now, her orange eyes drifting over each one. He had caught their names on the way over. Baron was the only male to come from the borders, and he seemed capable enough. He would potentially make a great Hunter or Warrior, possibly a Delta if he were to work hard and prove his worth. Sitka was next. The she-wolf was sweet from what she had seen. She had proclaimed at the borders she was adept with handling pups, with what Lysic had told her. She would need to see this in action before Ventus would appoint her Guardian, but the rank is what she would be headed towards if she pursued the want to watch over the wolves. Perhaps her and Lexavein could work together to watch over the rowdy bunch that Dante currently had swarming amongst the makeshift common grounds. They would need more guardians once the pups grew older and harder to keep track of, and Guardians often helped young pups determine their strengths and weaknesses, and are the first to inspire them to work for the rank they wanted.
Clearing her throat as she let her little assessment come to an end, she flicked her tail motioning to the hunting grounds. “This is where you will hunt collectively and bring down dinner for today. Should you succeed, there will be a feast, and new ranks appointed upon further assessment,” She stated. “If you fail, you will be faced with disappointment and kept as an Omega until you can prove your worth in my pack,” She stated. Fear would strike them to do better, to want to be more than an Omega. Omega was the rank that no one wanted. Everyone strived to be something, even if it was a warrior or hunter. Any rank above Omega was what a wolf would strive for, and hopefully her little tactic worked. “Lysic and I will be watching. Devika, Hydran and Parker, I would like for you to help them and potentially take down a meal of your own if we have time. Dante will be assisting wherever he can,” She stated, seeing as the General would have joined them by now.

The snow gives a satisfying crunch with every press of her paws, toes spread wide to keep her from sinking too deeply into the chilled powder. Devika can feel a laugh building in her chest as her brother runs alongside her, tail ceaseless in its rhythmic wagging. There was something pure and happy in running, the simplicity in the burn of her muscles and the puff of her breath. It was probably why she enjoyed hunting so much; when it came down to it, Dev was an easy wolf to please. Playing with the pups, training with Dante, hunting - all things that made her feel content. At the end of the day, there was no thirst for power within her; she didn’t need a high rank to be happy. Hunter, Guardian, Omega - as long as she remained at her pack’s side, joy was always within reach. Putting on one last burst of speed, she throws her head back and releases a joyful whoop as her mother’s stark red pelt becomes visible in the distance. ”See, what did I tell you?” She giggles, twinkling gaze finding Hydran’s before she approaches the growing group. What an exciting day this has been! Hunts were nothing new, but this was the perfect opportunity to see what these new members could do. The young female hopes to build a camaraderie with all three of them, and brushes a friendly tail against Lexavein’s shoulder before coming to stand between Baron and Sitka. When mother states that she, Hydran, and Parker would be assisting, and even taking down a meal of their own? Well, the anticipation bubbling in her veins only grows. However, Lysic would only be watching, which was new. Usually when the siblings hunted, he would take charge, coming up with a plan and directing them as needed. Shooting a hopeful glance Dante’s direction, she wilts a bit to see no directions forthcoming; he was only here as backup after all. Among the trio of ‘veteran’ Lubruscans, Parker was the more experienced among them. Surely he would come forth with a plan once they had the prey in their sights! This reassured her some, and she perks back up again. It wasn’t that she was worried about coming up with a plan, per se - just that it would fail, in front of her mother no less! Even so, she swallows deeply before piping up. ”The herds like to stay near the tree line during the winter, which is nice because it provides us some cover.” She flicks her ears back then forward again, casting a questioning glance the hunting party’s way. ”We should head in that direction first; it’s our best bet.” With a friendly smile, she begins to pad in that direction, hopefully with the others at her side. ”Do you lot have anything in mind strategy wise?” She’s sure her mother would like to see what Sitka, Baron, and Lexavein could come up with specifically. The pair of siblings ran through the snow just for the fun of it. Hydran didn't mind the exercise one bit and Devika seemed to have fun doing so. Once they arrived, his sister bursted a ”See, what did I tell you?”, which the young hunter could only reply to with a nod, followed by panting. "Seems like I'm getting old for this," he said jokingly. The alphess had given out the orders and the group got closer together at the center of the hunting grounds. Hydran had to work with Devika and Parker to assure the new recruits did a fine job, while also hunt down prey of their own, nothing out of the ordinary, except for Lysic not being included in the formula. The hunter looked at the to-be-alpha from afar, feeling proud, and just a tiny bit jealous. His brother had been born with the great gift of leadership, it somehow just came naturally to him, usually managing the whole strategic aspect of their hunts. ”The herds like to stay near the tree line during the winter, which is nice because it provides us some cover. We should head in that direction first; it’s our best bet. Do you lot have anything in mind strategy wise?” asked Devika to the newbies, probably expecting them to show their thought capability in front of Ventus. Hydran saw Parker, his fellow hunter, and taking advantage the attention focus was on his sister, he asked the male. "Dude, what do you think of the new guys?" On his way to the hunting grounds, he had popped into the forest river to check and see if he could find Macha. Hopefully, he could explain to her where he was and why he didn't tell her first, but Mr. Fartherly Grumpy Man had stolen her away and into the den to meet her new sister. With a sigh of defeat as Ventus rerouted the group of newbies off to the hunting grounds, he had slowly trailed off behind them. Now that he had arrived, he was beginning to get a bit more excited. “This is where you will hunt collectively and bring down dinner for today. Dante will be assisting wherever he can,” his Alphess explained, assigning him to a hunting team. The most memorable time he'd ever had hunting was when he hadn't even hunted at all. It was when he had poked his head into the hunting grounds just to see flames that would scar the pack's lands forever. Now, so close after Flint's warning, the young yearling's mind couldn't help but worry about something horrific happening here again. "The herds like to stay near the tree line during the winter, which is nice because it provides us some cover. We should head in that direction first; it’s our best bet. Do you lot have anything in mind strategy wise?" Devika questioned what he presumed was the new members of Lubrusca. If the more senior trio were able to try and slip in a kill, Parker knew he'd be able to come up with something on the go that would keep Lubrusca's future leaders both safe and full. "Dude, what do you think of the new guys?" Hydran's voice snapped him back into the present. With a cheeky smile, Parker cast his glance over the three new wolves before responding to his friend, "I think they'll be a good bunch. Baron's a perfect warrior or hunter, Sitka seems like she really liked pups and heavens knows that Dante needs the help with his kids, and hopefully Lexavein can slot herself in as both. What about you?" Turning stormy grey eyes back to the newest members of their pack, he listened to both Hydran and the plan thought up by the next group of hunters, giving priority to whichever would grace his ears first. "Are you nervous?" A voice asked off to her side. It sounded masculine and rough, but Lexavein took no notice. Almost instantly, the she-wolf replied with a casual "Nah," and turned her bedraggled head to flash the wolf a candid yet kittenish grin. To her upmost surprise, it was Baron whom asked the question. Lexavein's ears swiveled forwards and her head rose a little higher. Her smile died abruptly and flashed again in a partially nervous and shy manner. "I mean, I haven't taken down big game in a long time. I usually target calves or small prey. The last time me and my sisters hunted something big, we lost it. Three wolves on one large prey animal. I blame the weather." The she-wolf's tail gave a wag of fever, and she looked ahead again with one ear folded back. "Honestly, I'm just excited. It's not everyday you get to join a pack, or hunt with others when you're a lone wolf!" In truth, she should have been more worried, but for the life of her, Lexavein couldn't find a worry to fuel her nervousness. She was going to do this. She made it this far. As she walked, she realized she wasn't lone anymore. While his company seemed abnormal to her, Baron seemed like a nice guy. And what were packmates for anyways? Stability, emotional support... this stuff should have come to no surprise to her. However, it meant something to her coming from the brute. For he didn't seem like a packmate type, atleast until now. Lexavein slowed her pacing as the others did and rested her eyes on the alphess of their group. She was ready to jump into action, and perhaps that was the cause of her now abnormal quivering. No wolf could mistake this violent shaking as a sign of fear, for the she-wolf wore the brightest smile on her face. Her tongue was even hanging out contently as she listened to Alpha Ventus speak. “This is where you will hunt collectively and bring down dinner for today. Should you succeed, there will be a feast, and new ranks appointed upon further assessment,” She stated firmly. “If you fail, you will be faced with disappointment and kept as an Omega until you can prove your worth in my pack,” Lexavein adjusted her stance to stand expectantly, as if ready for a command, still wearing her classic expression of genuine lupine excitement. “Lysic and I will be watching. Devika, Hydran and Parker, I would like for you to help them and potentially take down a meal of your own if we have time. Dante will be assisting wherever he can.” The bedraggled she-wolf's tail continued it's ceaseless wagging, even after her Alpha female's speech. Her immediate thought was... well... they surely weren't hunting calves. This was rejuvenating information, buuut it was a shame she could not show off her seasoned skills when it came to young and vulnerable prey.
”The herds like to stay near the tree line during the winter," The she-wolf's head jerked in Devika's direction, who nervously rotated her ears back and forwards again as she spoke to the band of new wolves. "Which is nice because it provides us some cover. We should head in that direction first; it’s our best bet.” With a smile, she began to lead the trio towards this presumed tree line. Instinctively, not voluntarily, Lexavein followed. There was a pep to her step as she shakily trotted onward. Again, Devika spoke with another suggestion. ”Do you lot have anything in mind strategy wise?” Lexavein held her tongue, knowing she really had no experience in the art of hunting big game. For the most part. She glanced over to Baron or Sitka, wanting to hear either one of their suggestions before adding onto it with her own mediocre idea.

Baron walked alongside Lexavein after he'd asked his question to her, still a little bit concerned about the females shaking frame, he would simply try to keep an eye on her during the hunt and trust the hunters coming along with them. The large male gave a quick glance to her when she began to answer, "Nah,"I mean, I haven't taken down big game in a long time. I usually target calves or small prey. The last time me and my sisters hunted something big, we lost it. Three wolves on one large prey animal. I blame the weather...Honestly, I'm just excited. It's not everyday you get to join a pack, or hunt with others when you're a lone wolf!" The female made a good point, hunts would certainly go over smoother with more mouths to bring down larger game, specially given the strategy that came with pack hunts, in agreement he responded to her before the Alphess began speaking. "I'll admit, I'm kind of excited too." he kept it short and sweet, wanting his actions to speak more for him than his words, that would come in time, he knew that. Ears perked forward he was sure to pay attention to Ventus, a lot was weighing on this hunt, then he turned his attention to the pretty white female who was among the first to spot him at the borders, she was nearly the same size as he with a smooth white pelt that almost got lost in the snow, something about her interested him, maybe the way she smelled? He couldn't quite put his paw on it, but he was going to make effort to make a good impression, Baron was not above trying to impress females afterall. Large black pawfalls followed after Devika as she began to lead toward the treeline, spreading out his toes to get better traction on the snow despite sinking into it a little deeper because he wasn't very light. The black male made his way up to pad alongside Devika, more than willing to give his suggestion to her question "Just in terms of size and weight, I think it would be smart for me to take whatever we find down, Lexavein and Sitka can help separate whichever one is picked out from the herd." with his usual gruff tone he paid attention to the scents around him, ears pointing forward in anticipation as they delved deeper and deeper into the hunting grounds .
