L Y S I CHeir of Lubrusca They made their way to the hunting grounds, Lysic still close on his mother’s heels as they entered the untouched territories. It had been awhile since Lysic had touched the territory, opting before to stay near the river where they made their commons to hunt. Only small creatures dwelled there. Larger ones dwelled in the hunting grounds, and he had only been here to hunt a couple times with Mochi and Dante in the past. Now, he was there to examine the new members, and something in the back of his mind made him wonder if he even knew what to assess them on. Maybe something would click and he would just know, much like his mother seemed to do when situations like this were presented. But he wasn’t so sure he was going to be able to do that. He would have to wait and see. His mother gave commands about hunting. He was to stay with her, and to watch the hunt while his siblings and Parker were to conduct their own hunt, and Dante was to help each group where needed. He felt bitterly left out, knowing that he would have to just stand and watch instead of participate, but he would never question his mother’s decisions. He had learned from Mochi that it was best not to do so.
Looking towards his sister and brother as they had appeared almost out of nowhere, he turned his head back to the new members that were currently discussing what they were going to do. Lexavein had nothing to add to the conversation as Devika had offered some advice on the herd’s movement. Baron however, took the initiative to say something. He was going to be the one taking down the prey after Sitka and Lexavein were to separate it from the herd. It was a good idea, and he commended the male for that. The strongest was always the one to take down prey. He turned his attention towards Sitka, wondering what she had to say. Once she said her plan, or what she had to add to the group discussion, he turned to his mother, amber eye looking towards the she-wolf, but he wouldn’t say anything. She was not only testing the wolves that stood before them, putting everything on the line for a place in the pack, but also testing his leadership abilities. She was seeing if he was ready to move forward into his position as the future Alpha of Lubrusca. So instead of asking her about things, he say silently, waiting for the others to commence the hunt.

Sitka walked along, listening to Lexavein and Baron. Baron had asked the she-wolf if she were nervous, in which the other replied that she was not. Listening to Lexavein’s answer, it didn’t spark anything within Sitka, she still held a content walk as she watched the Alphess stop, turning to talk to them all about the hunt. She would be grouped with the newcomers, as she knew that she would be. The hunt held everything for them. They would achieve new ranks if this were to be successful and they were to bring home dinner. If not, then they would stay Omegas for a little while longer, looked down upon for failing their first hunt in the pack. Mistakes happened, but she was determined to make sure that nothing went wrong with this hunt. This pack was already proving to be a good match for her, and she would not give it up for another wolf making a mistake. As Devika appeared, she talked about the herd, noting that it stayed near the treelines during the winter. Which was to be expected, being in the open on a white field was never any animals option unless they were pure white like Devika. She looked to Baron who was the first to speak. He talked of taking down the deer once her and Lexavein had separated it from the herd. She gave him a nod, and looked towards Lexavein, seeing if she had anything to add. Since she didn’t speak, Sitka took the moment to put forth some input. “We should definitely be the ones to steer the deer away from the herd. We should go for one of the older deer, one that doesn’t have any visible offspring, and is well past her prime in the herd. The buck will prove to be an issue, but I think Dante would be good to distract the buck and keep him from charging us unexpectedly,” She said, looking towards the male for an answer to her proposition. Distracting the buck would make both the hunts easier. “We should split the herd in two. Lexavein and I will head one direction, while you three head the other,” She spoke, looking towards the other wolves that would be participating in a hunt. “I think Hydran and Devika should be the ones to scout out who we’re hunting, since they have the lightest colored coats here, and wouldn’t be so easily spotted scouting out the herd as any of us would be,” She looked to Baron in particular. Black was the complete opposite of white, and he stood out tremendously. “Once we find out targets, we’ll circle around to the treeline and move from there to separate them,” She said, looking towards the others. “What do you think?” She asked, feeling a little embarrassed that she had taken over the hunting plans so quickly. Hopefully they would all agree with her plan, or add their own modifications as they would see fit. PUP CECILIA OF LUBRUSCA
Of course the first thing Cecilia would do once she was in the hunting grounds, her cross-eye puppy feet followed after her Aunty Ventus like a shadow. She stayed underneath or behind the rear legs of the Alphess. Her voice rose above all others, commencing the hunt and parties. Eyes shown brightly as her father moved about, his own happy gate making her little tail wag and feel more comfortable with the new strangers. When the adults left, and the teenagers, she grew bored. Moving over to Basil, she pawed at them until they moved their ear to her mouth.
"Lets go play hide and seek," she whispered, "Maddox is it since he is the last one here," she looked to Milo to see if he heard her or not. She nipped at Basil before turning and bounding off towards a tree, looking back she playfully yipped for their attention to give chase. She honestly was oblivious to the potential dangers of even sneaking off behind a bush would have, but she wanted to play in this new area. Maybe even explore with Nascha.

The owl-faced pup ultimately caught up the rest of his family in a trio with his two other brothers. Already the adults were whisking around, words like 'herd' and 'buck' and 'scout' and 'direction' and 'Dante' being thrown all over the place. It was fascinating! What was a herd? Or a buck? He'd definitely heard the other words before, but did they mean something different here? Vaguely, he was aware of his oldest sister whispering and sneaking away, but he was already much too invested in the hunt about to take place to care. Moving over to his father's side, the youngest pup silently pressed his tan fur into his leg. He didn't ask any questions yet. He had to think of all of them first! With an overly-exaggerated face of concentration, Nascha - completely seriously - tried to absorb everything that was happening around him in terms of the hunt. Hopefully, he would learn even more once the hunt actually started. @dante Apprentice Maddox @basil Scout Cecilia Alphess Ventus Sitka Delta Baron @lexavein Sentinel Hydran Beta Lysic Hunter Devika

After a whirlwind round of the commons including but not limited to meeting another 'Snow,' a really pretty she-wolf, two other wolves, and almost catching Rosie's tail, Milo had ended up in the hunting grounds with the rest of his litter. All the grown-ups were doing was talking, and talking... and talking. How boring! He wanted to have fun! With the utmost stealth, he listened in to Cece's whispering to Basil, "Let's go play hide and seek. Maddox is it since he is the last one here." Making eye contact with his cross-eyed little sister, the long-legged male grinned brightly. Of course he was down for a game of hide and seek. Watching Cece bound over towards her hiding place, the floppy ear of the tallest pup flapped majestically as he bounded towards a big lump of snow. Surely, he could hide behind it and never be found by Maddox. However, those long legs were about to be his downfall again - quite literally. With one hind leg and one front leg deciding that now was the time to have a nice chat, Milo splatted into the snow. His momentum carried him a short distance, burying him with a small amount of snow. Stifling a full-out laugh, the dork giggled out, "He'll never find me here! I'm invisible!" Naturally, the tan pup hadn't moved from ground zero and a ditch of snow led right to his mostly uncovered body, but was that going to stop him from believing that he was a camouflage master? Nope! His thought process was that now he was covered, all he had to do was stay really really still. Then he'd just look like a handsome rock and not the pup he truly was under all that snow. After his little comment to Hydran about his thoughts on his new packmates, the hunting plan continued to develop. "Just in terms of size and weight, I think it would be smart for me to take whatever we find down, Lexavein and Sitka can help separate whichever one is picked out from the herd," one of the deepest voices present, Baron, spoke up quickly. Parker couldn't agree more. With his size, he might as well be the prey they were hunting! “We should definitely be the ones to steer the deer away from the herd. We should go for one of the older deer, one that doesn’t have any visible offspring, and is well past her prime in the herd. The buck will prove to be an issue, but I think Dante would be good to distract the buck and keep him from charging us unexpectedly. We should split the herd in two. I think Hydran and Devika should be the ones to scout out who we’re hunting, since they have the lightest colored coats here, and wouldn’t be so easily spotted scouting out the herd as any of us would be. Once we find out targets, we’ll circle around to the treeline and move from there to separate them. What do you think?” Sitka spoke up, her initial plan sounding pretty good already. Not to be one to brag, but Parker had a good few hunts under his metaphorical belt, and he liked the motherly she-wolf's plan. However, he could place a reasonable bet that the three wolves she meant to separate the other half of the herd were Baron, Devika, and Hydran. Leaving one golden bullet out of a job. Never to fear, he had a good idea. Standing only a few inches shorter than the General himself, Parker could be one heck of a distracting force. Finally adding input into the hunting plan, the yearling's tone (for once) held a hint of seriousness, "I could help Dante distract the buck while you three," he gestured at the group that was getting assessed, "Separate the herd and proceed with your hunt, and then if need be I can help Devika and Hydran take down another deer. Dev should definitely make the killing blow for her hunt if we get to it." Glancing at the other wolves around him with curious grey eyes, Parker awaiting anyone's critique of building onto the plan that was slowly forming. Their trip to the Hunting Grounds had gone as smoothly as it could have, in Dante’s opinion. Chatter zinged about, conversation upon conversation filling the around them. A soft, contented smile settled on his features as he listened. They’d needed this. It had to have been hard for Ventus, bringing in new wolves after what had happened last time, but perhaps this would help wash away the sting. Devika and Hydran were already celebrating the joys of the hunt, playing in preparation for when they would need to enact a real sprint. Lysic seemed none too pleased with this — arrangement, but duty beckoned. Besides, Dante was certain he’d be far happier as an alpha than a hunter in the end. Devika’s eyes darted back towards him, vaguely hoping for instruction only to be met with a shrug. He, as Ven said, was stand by. Besides, he knew her disappointment wasn’t as ominous as it sounded. While omegas were “low,” there was no better pack to be one than Lubrusca. No matter how the newcomers performed during the hunts today, in the end, they’d find themselves satisfied. Had the same not become of him and El when they had first arrived? As the newcomers discussed and debated, his favorite little owlet slipped between his legs, eager to learn and listen. Dante chuckled, lifting a limb up to marvel at his youngest. “Hello there,” Dante crooned, his tail swishing tenderly. “You’ve never seen deer, have you? Would you like to know what they look like?” He lowered his tawny haunches, thinking back to the many, many hunts he’d enjoyed with Ventus’s litter. “They’re beautiful animals, for starters. They’ve got long, slender legs that are taller than some wolves’ torsos, and their tails are tipped with soft white fluff. Normally, they’re quiet, graceful, and elegant, but when they’re on the run — off they go, faster than lightning bolts. They got these large ears for listening, always swiveling back and forth, side to side, and a great nose for sniffing, but what everybody knows them for is their eyes; gentle, wide-eyed, and warm, makes them look innocent as pups. In fact,” he added, nudging Nascha’s nose. “They’re so lovely that whenever we see that a wolf has beautiful eyes, we say they’ve got doe eyes. Like Sitka there,” he remarked offhandedly, with a sweet, oblivious smile. “We’d say, if we were to describe her, that she’s a doe-eyed she-wolf.” “Hunting’s dangerous business, owlet” He quipped with a wink. “Run along now and join your siblings to watch. We’ll hold down the fort from here.” As his son darted off, he shifted his attention towards the newcomers’ plans. Sitka’s seemed a fine strategy in of itself, the sort that he would likely pitch after receiving input from the yearlings. Due to his size, he normally wound up being the one to charge bucks anyways. Hydran and Dev were good scouts— she’d made a good decision placing them at the forefront. Separating the herd would allow a maximum of two kills, a good back-up if anything were to go wrong with one. “We’ve got a good plan in the making.” He stepped forward. “Good job Sitka, Parker. Let’s go put it into action. Devika and Hydran, assume position at the front and scout out. Remember, be careful, be clever, be safe. No buck will ever be worth a life or limb. Let’s go out and give it our all.” With that, he adjusted his pace to a trot, opening his maw to taste the wind for prey. “I smell deer on the east wind. Why don’t we go check it out?” Tagged: Apprentice Maddox Scout Milo Warrior Nascha Scout Cecilia @basil Delta Baron Sitka @lexavein Alphess Ventus Sentinel Hydran Beta Lysic Hunter Devika

The little ebony ball of fur curiously watched the adult wolves as they moved about, her small ears straining to hear what they were all discussing, but just as soon as she had strained just enough to hear the adults, her sister, Cecilia, broke her concentration and the Lubruscan pup gave a quiet whine. Her sister's paw grazed her shoulder, grabbing the ebony pup's attention, Basil slowly averted her eyes from the adults and turned instead to give her full attention to the grey and silver pup. "Lets go play hide and seek," Cecilia whispered, "Maddox is it since he is the last one here," Basil followed her sister's eyes to look towards Milo gauging his reaction to see if their brother had heard them or not. Cecilia's nip once more captured Basil's attention and the ebony pup streaked behind the grey and silver pup, in a flurry of paws and soft puppy fur. Basil's giggle of excitement trailed behind her, but the pup had no care in the world right now. Scout Cecilia Apprentice Maddox Scout Milo

After Baron had voiced his portion of the plan he waited as his little hunting group voiced their ideas as well, hunting was a collaborative effort, despite having been a rogue most of his life, that much he had always understood; it was how packs stayed well fed and their secret to taking down big game, more teeth and more jaws. He padded alongside Devika before turning his gaze to look at the pretty female named Sitka, her brown pelt sticking out against the white background similar to how Baron assumed his own pelt did. Once we find out targets, we’ll circle around to the treeline and move from there to separate them. What do you think?” Her plan made sense to the black male, speaking of sticking out like against the snow, she looked at him and he gave a chuckle in response but agreed. Before he spoke however he heard the light colored hunter who had spoken to him first at the borders, Parker, voice his idea for the hunt. The golden male suggested he help Dante distract the buck while the herd is separated and a kill is made. "Makes sense to me." Baron agreed before hearing Dante notice the smell of deer on the east wind, that was as good a place to start as any. The charcoal male stayed back however, wanting his lighter colored pack mates to take the lead as Sitka had already noted, but he paid attention, wanting to play his part well in this hunt, the sake of his rank was on the line.

Lexavein admired how Sitka spoke confidently about her plan, but most of all, she admired the plan in itself. Her tail swayed back and forth excitedly, allowing everyone else to pile on their suggestions while she listened. Being nearly inexperienced in hunting big game, Lex realized it would just be best to listen and take in as much information as possible. And a part of her silence was also mild impatience. Lexavein was ready to jump into the hunt and take something down. All thoughts about her eventual ranking completely fled her mind. She was focused on the task and not the result as of now. Baron's input was shorter, but the she-wolf gave him an acknowledging glance nonetheless. As she did to everyone else. Lexavein tilted her head every once in a while, especially as a little one showed up gained Dante's attention. His little remark on how Sitka looked didn't go unnoticed by her either. The she-wolf grinned fondly, finding the little situation cute and endearing to witness. Dante certainly had oblivious charm, whether it be with pups or with his fellow packmates. Lexavein moved to follow after Dante when he began to trot, noting he scented deer not so far off in the wind. As far as Lexavein was concerned... she was ready to do this, and definitely had the best hunting party she could ever have for her second official big game hunt.

"I think they'll be a good bunch. Baron's a perfect warrior or hunter, Sitka seems like she really liked pups and heavens knows that Dante needs the help with his kids, and hopefully Lexavein can slot herself in as both. What about you?" the other hunter said, intrigued about his own thoughts. Hydran really couldn't know, they seemed and acted nicely, but with everything that's happened already, who could really tell true good from true bad? "Can't really say, for now at least."Plan proceeded, the newcomers using their knowledge and experience to form the hunt, and enhance it even further. Sitka, the female Iberian, had included both Devika and him as scouts, basing her decision on their furcoat's colors, while Parker explained his part on distracting the herd and as a support for the other prey, if needed of course. "I'm down for that", said Hydran, already prepared for the ordeal, anxious for what was going to go down "I think Dev and I'll be able to take them down on our own," he added, confident on what he's been learning as a hunter. “We’ve got a good plan in the making,” said the general, appearing from wherever he was at before, and congratulated the main plan developers, Parker and Sitka. "Devika and Hydran, assume position at the front and scout out. Remember, be careful, be clever, be safe. No buck will ever be worth a life or limb. Let’s go out and give it our all,” added Dante. "Sir, yes sir!" replied Hydran, excited and invigorated by his superior's positive attitude towards the group in general. "Let's scout the shit out of them, Dev!" he told his sister, speeding up the pace to keep himself close to the general, who had just caught the scent of deer down the east. The hunting party heeded his advice with enthusiasm — which, in his previous hunting experience, made for a kill. Ventus’s two yearlings would be eager for a piece of the action, and hopefully, their three newcomers would be to. As he trotted, he occasionally paused to scent his surroundings, tasting the air for any sudden change in the herds. Hopefully, Devika and Hydran would follow by way of example, attuning themselves to the behavior of their prey. Their herds were plentiful, but the beasts within were fickle, and any change to the breeze could send them soaring. Caution was essential, but they’d taken care to ensure their backs were against the breeze. If they remained silent, Dante saw no reason why they wouldn’t be able to spring a successful attack. And soon enough, amidst soft baying, a host of mahogany forms materialized before them, shuffling through snow. The weather would be advantageous, but only if they it honed correctly — if not, it’d simply provide their prey the means for a faster escape. Thankfully, Sitka’s plan seemed relatively fool-proof. Dividing the herds would eliminate their main source of security, after all, and ensure their target stayed running long enough to grow weary and fall behind. All they needed was to pick one.
“Go ahead,” he quipped once the rest of the hunting party had assembled. “Pick your targets and make your make. Make it good, and make it fast. I’m going in to bait the buck. Once it starts bolting, that’ll alert the rest of the herd, so be ready to run into action. Good luck!” With a parting wink and a smile, he shifted his attentions to the herd — and the exceptionally large buck that headed it. He would have to proceed with caution, for safety’s sake, of course, but Ventus and Ebony had taught him all the tricks to getting a set of angry antlers off one’s heels. Escape was easy; getting its attention was where all the risk lay. Hoisting his tail high above him, he assumed the carefree, exceptionally cocky demeanor of a loner that thought he alone could best a buck — one any buck would know well. Flattening his ears harshly, he peppered the head buck with an endless bout of growls, snaps, and snarls until finally, the buck had quite enough, stamping his pointed hooves firmly. A final snap and he’d worn the last of his patience, sending the set of sorrel antlers soaring for his hide. With a playful yip, he dodged him and broke into a full sprint. Now was the chance for the hunting party to finally come out and spring into action.

Maddox"Maybe our future's so bright it fucking burns like a Wildfire." Maddox was taking his time getting there, bombarding Snow Rose with questions. What she liked to do when she had free time. What it was like being the pack Salutary. If she had anyone that she loved, the simply questions a simple minded pup would ask. He was intrigued by her, and he found her to be a mystery, considering he had met almost every adult wolf in the pack by now. But she had been sick during the few months he had been able to walk and talk, and so getting to know her was a must. The hunting grounds were not too far ahead, as he came to a stop once he had reached all the other wolves. His siblings were off playing, but he didn’t necessarily want to play. Instead, once Rosie settled down and sat - if she were to - he would bring himself to sit between her paws, staring up at her with a never ending wag of his tail as he just stared with wide eyed adoration. “Hey Rosie, do you hunt often? I bet you’re the best hunter ever!” He said, his little mind going a mile a minute, and not even the fasted animal alive would be able to keep up with it.

Salutary Snow Rose
The girl who's always smiling
The race to the Hunting Grounds had turned into more of a stroll as Maddox had grown more interested in showering her with questions. "I like taking long walks in my free time. It's difficult being the pack Salutary but I wouldn't change my rank for anything. Uh, love? Well, I love myself! Self love is very important." She had answered the last question rather sheepishly, not entirely keen to remind herself of the male that had abandoned her only moments after showing some kind of interest. But her answer was true, she did love herself, and believed self-love to be very important in living a content life.
The pair eventually arrived in the Hunting Grounds, Snow Rose's gaze ghosting over the area where she had watched Ebony fade into the tree-line, but she didn't let her caramel sights linger for too long, instead she watched as the hunters prepared to take chase after a deer herd that had gathered in the clearing. After having only eaten everything she could from the carcass of a chicken, Snow was eager to put something a bit more substantial into her body, happy to take whatever kind of sustenance she could get. She would have joined in with the hunt, but she was still quite weak and her hunting skills weren't as sharp as they could have been. Besides, there were Dante's pups that had to be looked after...but only Nascha was present.
“Hey Rosie, do you hunt often? I bet you’re the best hunter ever!” Maddox's nickname for her instantly had the Salutary gazing back down at him, a warm smile plastered on her lips as she was completely enamoured by the little pup and his cuteness. "I usually leave the hunting to the hunters, that is their job after all." She replied with a sweet chuckle. "Do you think you'll become a hunter one day? Or are you interested in something else?" Snow Rose was curious to know if the young male had already created aspirations for himself and what he wanted to do within the pack. Some part of her wished that she could take the little snowball as her own apprentice, but she didn't even know if he was interested in herbs. She also wondered if he would notice the absence of his siblings, though she wouldn't say anything about the odd position of Milo as he was half buried in snow. They were obviously up to something, and Snow Rose didn't want to spoil anything.

The little owl-faced pup let out a giggle as his father discovered him against his leg, sitting down beside him to talk, “Hello there! You’ve never seen deer, have you? Would you like to know what they look like? They’re beautiful animals, for starters. They’ve got long, slender legs that are taller than some wolves’ torsos, and their tails are tipped with soft white fluff. Hunting’s dangerous business, owlet. Run along now and join your siblings to watch. We’ll hold down the fort from here.”The little pup was enraptured by the description. Long, twig-legged animals with fluffy tail tips that were as fast as lightning but had really pretty eyes - how could such a beast even exist? What did they eat? Surely not other deer. That would be really really gross. But, he couldn't ask any more questions now. It was time to actually go get the deer! Nascha could barely contain his excitement of his father about to depart, but made sure to not get in his was as he trotted over to Snow Rose. Mulling over one of the lines Dad had said, the observant pup scanned for the 'Sitka' he spoke of. She must be new! He hadn't heard her name before, so that was the only option left. Doe-eyed? Squinting his eyes at his father, the little pup pieced together that maybe there was a bit more meaning to the comment than just teaching his son. But he wouldn't tell his siblings just yet. He needed some more cold hard evidence. Piping up to answer Snow's question that was definitely not aimed at him, the little owlet barked, "I want to be just like Dad!" Sitting next to the Salutary, he kept his eyes glued on his father's frame as it disappeared from view, trying to learn everything that he was doing for future reference. @dante Salutary Snow Rose Apprentice Maddox Scout Cecilia @basil
