Upon the general conclusion of plan making and Dante's movements out to the east where indeed the scent of deer floated in from, Parker began to move alongside the General. At nearly the same size, the blonde male took to the opposite side of the buck as Dante began to growl and snap at it. Taking a page from the old man's book, Parker began alternating attacks to keep the buck thoroughly distracted and increasingly agitated. As the beast targeted Dante with its horns, Parker continued to bark from beside it, making sure he was safe from getting clocked in the head with a hoof. As the two hunts proceed, Parker made sure that everything was in working order between the new group, and between the prodigy group. Scenting the air as he panted, the stench of fox filled his nose. Scanning the ground quickly in order to remain safe as he distracted the buck, he spotted the vermin off to the side, slinking along through the trees as it followed the doe being taken down by Devika and Hydran. Making sure that Dante was fine dealing with the buck, Parker separated from the chase and made a beeline for the fox. Leaping at the scrambling creature, Parker's claw hooked its hind leg as it sprinted away, sending both of them into a spiral through the snow as their momentum carried. The lithe animal swung back around, claws piercing through the skin of his shoulder as the other predator attacked. Rolling onto the snow to dislodge the fiend, Parker snapped his jaws at it, managing to snag his teeth into its flank. Releasing the fox as blood slightly stained his mouth, Parker let it scurry away. It wasn't about to try and get at their food again, not with a Parker on the prowl! Grimacing at the ache in his shoulder now that a nasty set of three claw marks split the skin, Parker made his way back to the hunts. Seeing that everything was still going okay with the hunts, Parker limped slightly back to where the hunt had begun. He had seen Snow there before, and boy was he glad that the Salutary was up and running again. Approaching the soft she-wolf, Parker smiled brightly. "Hey Snow, me and a fox got into a bit of a fight. Got anything for a few scratches?" he questioned the Salutary, putting his best wost shoulder forwards for her to see the minor injury. It seemed that most were in agreeance with her plan, it being solid and holding the foundation for a good hunt, although it was a simple plan. There was nothing better than a simple and original hunting plan. Sitka watched as the two wolves she named walked off to scout, and she looked over to Baron. A small, mischievous smile was planted on her the moment the thought came into her head. Once the hunt would start, Dante and Parker were distracting the buck, and she was up and running, spraying snow in the direction of Baron, who was more than likely covered with it now. She gave a small laugh before heading after one of the does that had been pointed out. Her muscles worked overtime to pick up the pace in the snow, as she listened intently to what Dante and Parker were doing with the buck. She hoped that they would stay safe. She didn’t want them to injure themselves on the accord of a good hunt. Everything was on the line for the three rogues sure, but she would not risk the injury of a new pack member could she help it. The doe was all too smart, taking off in the snow as it saw the impending doom it faced. The beautiful iberian pushed forward, knowing that Baron and Lexavein were not far behind. She brought herself to the back of the deer, nipping at its legs, trying to get a good grip to trip it up. The time would come, but for now giving small nips would allow her to slowly gain some ground, the nips slowing down the doe. But it had other ideas it seemed. As soon as Sitka was close enough to be able to latch onto the doe’s right leg, she grasped it, but a hoof to her head made her go sprawling back and let go of the limb. She had managed to trip up the doe enough for Lexavein and Baron to finish it off, but the world for Sitka was currently spinning. The trees above were blurry, before they finally refocused, and the roaring wind was no longer a small buzz in the back of her head. She lay prone for just a second, but she brought herself to sit up shakily, only to have a shoulder support her from the side. Looking up, she saw the General of the pack, completely unharmed, helping her stand with a smile placed on his features. She gave him a small smile. “Thank you,” She said, looking to him with gratitude as she brought herself to her feet, leaning against him. The warmth he provided was welcomed, and if her mind had any inclination to wander, she would have also taken the time to notice how muscular the male was. But alas, the thought didn’t cross her mind as they travelled to the Salutary. Dante explained what he had saw, and she looked to Snow Rose, letting the she-wolf assess her as needed. Dante stayed with her for a bit to make sure she was okay, and she thanked him for that. She had been so caught up in the fact that he or another pack member would have gotten hurt, that she had put her own safety at risk. The hunt was successful, both of them from what she heard from the report that Lysic made to Ventus. She was glad they had done well, even if she had gotten clocked in the head doing so. @dante @lexavein Delta Baron Hunter Devika Sentinel Hydran Salutary Snow Rose

The tundra wolf swiveled his broad head to look from Sitka to Lexavein, completely and utterly missing the mischievous grin that spread on the brown females maw. The next thing he felt was a surprise, cold snow decorating his ebony pelt as Sitka tore off toward the doe, her back feet kicking the white flakes into the air and onto him. A surprised gasp left the male's deep chest and he looked in her direction then at himself, shaking the white flakes out of his pelt before broad black paws moved to chase after her. Due to the snow that seemed to refuse to melt he had to work a little bit harder to catch up to her, finely tuned muscles ensured it was possible to catch up however, her work on tripping up the doe being absolutely essential in allowing Baron to catch up then partially overtake the doe, going for the lunge and sinking his teeth into her throat. The familiar gush of warm blood was something he welcomed, realizing then just how much he missed the taste of deer up until this moment, perhaps this pack would be something good for him after all. Once latched to the female deer he heard her cry of protest before his weight brought her down for the final time, a few poofs of snow flying into the air due to the impact, however it did not bother him, he kept her within his jaws until she stopped moving, then he withdrew his teeth and turned his head to see Sitka laying prone in the snow, he had seen her take a blow to the head from a flying hoof, the fact that she was still breathing, eyes wide as she then sat up shakily was a relief, he was glad she had not been hurt bad by the doe. No wolf's life was worth a doe, especially not in his new pack. His amber gaze then turned to look at his superiors as he lay in the snow with the doe at his paws, he wondered if they were impressed by the performance he, Sitka and Lexavein had put on.

Doxie didn't seem to want to play. He was over talking with Snow instead of playing with them. Completely covered in snow, the lanky pup crawled to his feet, shaking a majority of the snow off his honey coloured pelt. The young male wasn't in the mood for talking yet, and with the hunt taking place and all the adults away, Milo had to look for entertainment with his siblings. Naturally, his sisters were hiding. Cece had proposed hide and seek after all! But Milo could see a little black tail from where he was, and there wasn't much more fun than scaring Basil. Sneaking up behind her, Milo pounced on top of his sister, a bark of amusement leaving the gleeful pup as his master plan came into action. Apprentice Maddox @basil Scout Cecilia

It seemed Fenrir had gotten there a bit late. The hunt had already begun, and he saw his siblings and Dante chasing a buck, nipping and biting at it as it attempted to outrun them. Watching the deer attempt to gouge the general with its sharp antlers made him nervous, but he knew the male, out of all of them, would be the best prepared for a deer that fought back. It never really occurred to the younger male that prey could or would fight back; he always assumed they just tried to run and hide, like chickens and the smaller prey he had been able to catch himself. Devika and Hydran were taking care of their own doe, and just behind the treeline was a fox keeping pace, probably waiting to ambush his siblings or try to steal some of the deer for itself. But it looked like he wasn't the only one who saw it-- Parker went straight for it after making sure Dante could handle the deer alone. it was all happening so fast, the thundering of hooves and paws so loud, it was giving him anxiety. He could never be a hunter like that, he would have panicked as soon as the deer fought back or if the fox had attacked him during a hunt. His tail drooped as he realized this, and he found himself instead near Milo and the other pups, sitting near them as he continued to watch his siblings and the way they moved together. They weren't professionals yet, but even so they seemed to be able to decently read each other's movements and the doe's and adapt on the fly, something that made Fenrir very nervous. He didn't like having to guess or rely on instinct to make those split-second decisions, because he felt that he would do the wrong thing every time. He felt that if he was one of his siblings right now, he would have tripped himself, or the both of them up by this point. He liked herbs because they had a specific shape to them. One herb looked one way, it didn't drastically change appearance randomly, and as long as he knew what it was he would know what it would do every time; the symptoms of eating it or using it otherwise would always yield the same result. He supposed he would just have to accept that he wasn't an alpha type, and make his mother and siblings proud in his own way. At least he could watch them spar and hunt and practice a little bit by himself so he could at least feed and defend himself should the need arise. Not that it compared to having a mentor teach him, but he could make this work. @dante Scout Milo Scout Cecilia @basil Sentinel Hydran Hunting Superior Parker Hunter Devika

Salutary Snow Rose
The girl who's always smiling
It seemed that the hunt was finding it's conclusion, but not without a few small hiccups. She let her gaze stray away from the pups that milled about her paws to watch as one of the new comers, Sitka, was kicked in the head by the doe they were bringing down, and as Parker's shoulder took a fair scratch from a fox that had tried to steal their catch. Snow Rose was instantly on her paws, excusing herself from the pups as she put her nose to the ground, already knowing exactly what she would need for the injuries that had been sustained during today's hunt.
She was hoping to find a sprout of lavender first, with spring just around the corner there were bound to be a few plants making their way out of dormancy, and judging by the sweet and familiar smell that she managed to pick out through the cover of the forest, her suspicions had been right. Small purple buds were beginning to form on dusty green stems, Snow Rose taking a few sprigs in her maw before continuing on to find a sprout of dock. The broad leaves weren't hard to find among the shrubbery of the Lubruscan forest, and she took a few of the large leaves in her mouth alongside the lavender before making her way back to the edge of the Hunting Grounds where Parker immediately approached her seeking help for the parting gift he had been given by the fox.
Snow Rose placed the plants on the melting snow before gently nudging her nose against Parker's small wound, trying to gauge how deep each scratch had torn through his skin. Luckily, it was only bad enough to draw a little bit of blood, as she had suspected. "Nothing too bad, thank goodness. You'll just have to be wary of infection, so let me know if it starts looking ugly over the next week or so," she diagnosed with sweet tunes before taking a few of the dock leaves and chewing them thoroughly between her teeth until it had become a smooth and slippery paste-like substance against her tongue. She spat the dock onto his wound before licking at it, pressing the paste into the scratches and spreading it as evenly as possible. "All done!" She sang quite merrily, happy to finally be back to full health and able enough to help her pack once more.
Next was Sitka, the she-wolf being escorted towards her by the noble figure of Dante. Snow Rose gave a gentle smile to the newcomer, "My my, what a way to start life in Lubrusca," she giggled sweetly before lowering her head to look at the young she-wolf in the eyes, trying to gauge the female's level of consciousness as well as look for clues of concussion. There were no visual clues of disorientation that Snow Rose could pick up on, so she hoped that the hit to the head would simply leave Sitka with a mild headache. She nudged the sprouts of lavender in her direction for her to consume. The Salutary have usually used the sweet smelling plant to aid in fevers, but it was also a handy aid for head pains. "Eat these, and if you start feeling nauseous, dizzy, or sleepy, let me know right away. Worst case scenario would be a mild concussion, but hopefully it's just a little head contusion." Snow Rose explained slowly and clearly, knowing that the she-wolf might have been suffering from a little bit of shock as well, but the delicate aroma of the lavender would be a quick help for that as well.
Confident with her work, she gave a small yet warm smile to the two wolves, nodding as she turned away from them to return to the pups, looking over Dante's litter as she remembered that not all of them had had the chance to answer her question earlier. "So, where were we?"

Maddox"Maybe our future's so bright it fucking burns like a Wildfire." Maddox looked up to Snow Rose, seeing her sweet smile made him happier. He was glad that she was smiling! Everyone should smile after all, the pup wanted to be sure that everyone did. She asked him a question, about the future. Asking if he would become a hunter, or if he was aiming for something else. Honestly, the pup always wanted to be like his dad, but the smells that wafted from Snow Rose’s den had the little one curious as to what those smells were connected to. He knew they helped heal and make others better. He wanted to be able to make others better so that they could smile and be happy, just like Snow Rose was at that moment. He was going to answer the she-wolf, but Milo being buried in snow made him laugh as he looked at his sibling. Then, as soon as he was done, they were interrupted by Nascha coming over. He gave his brother a lick on the cheek as a greeting. He looked to his brother as he spoke of being like dad, and Maddox gave a small nod. Of course everyone wanted to be like their dad! He was awesome!
The little pup was yet again distracted as Parker came up, showing a wound on his shoulder from a fox apparently. Where had it come from?! Of course he knew that Parker scared it off, but Maddox had wanted to see what a fox looked like. Not too long after Parker came to Snow Rose, the she-wolf named Sitka who had been so warmly welcoming of him and his siblings was brought by their father to Snow Rose, saying that she retained a head injury. She had gotten kicked in the head by a deer? That sounded painful! The pup kept by Nascha as he watched Snow Rose get to work. His gaze followed her as she did so, seeing how she went about treating each wound. Maddox was so enamored with this that he could hardly look away should anything try to distract him from what she was doing. She was done with Parker quickly, and he had hardly taken notice of Fenrir standing next to them as he watched her move onto Sitka. She gave information that his little brain could not process just yet, but maybe in the future he would be able to know what that meant.
She came back to him and Nascha rather quickly after that, and as she came back, he positioned himself between her paws once more, bringing himself to sit and look up at her with a bright smile. “We were talking about the future and what we wanted to grow up to be like!” He said, looking towards her. “I wanna be just like you Rosie! What you did was so cool!” He said, looking to her with a happy gleam to his eyes as his little tail wagged happily. “I want to be able to make wolves better, and to make sure they’re healthy and smiling!” He spoke. He wouldn’t know the horrors of sickness or wars quite yet, but he knew that he would try his best if he were train underneath her.

The buck, for all its angered huffing and puffing, tired quickly. Or perhaps it realized bigger problems were afoot; Parker rocketing forwards to chase off a small fox that’d materialized to get a piece of the action. Well, not chase — slaughter would’ve suited the squabble better, but for their drastic size difference, the fox still put up a mighty fight. If the buck hadn’t been on his heels, Dante would have loped around to assist, but a snap of jaws seemed to suffice; save for a few small scratches. He gave a greeting, congratulatory bark as the auburn male headed towards Snow. The boy had grown up all too well. In the meantime, their Hunting Party had managed to latch their teeth into a doe long enough to send it staggering. Baron and Lexavein promptly lunged forwards, but it seemed that Sitka had caught the tail end of the doe’s blows, losing her footing where it should have come naturally. “Easy there.” Dante trotted over to her side amiably, offering an onyx shoulder in support. “Happens to the best of us,” He chuckled good-naturedly. “On my first hunt, there was this buck that gave me such a kick I almost went reeling into the river. Snow’ll fix up real quick though; always does. And Ventus — well, she doesn’t like to show it, but she’ll be pleased with how you took initiative. She’ll be glad to have on board. I know I already am.” He quipped with a welcoming grin. “After we all eat a bit, we’ll head back to camp. Get settled, get to know each other, that sort of thing. Hope you’ve had a lovely first day, and if anything’s ever eating at you at all, don’t be afraid to swing by to chat!”Tagged: Sitka

Salutary Snow Rose
Pretty brown eyes and a mind full of thoughts
Maddox's reply to her question could not have brought a bigger smile to her face. “I wanna be just like you Rosie! What you did was so cool! I want to be able to make wolves better, and to make sure they’re healthy and smiling!” Snow Rose felt like she was about to cry with an overwhelming amount of joy. It was so incredibly touching to hear someone so young with such great ambitions, and for him to say that he wanted to be just like her—Snow was indescribably proud.
"I'd be more than happy to take you on as an apprentice if Salutary work really is what you want to do. I'm sure Fenrir wouldn't mind sharing me as a mentor," She giggled, throwing a quick glance to her original student as she finally noticed that he had made it to the Hunting Grounds, "and it will be a lot of hard work, but I'll be here to guide you through every second of it." She assured, her excitement being made obvious with the energy that had found its way into her voice.
Maddox probably wasn't aware of the struggles that came with the honour of their rank, but they were things that every apprentice learned soon enough. She had always understood what it meant to be strong in her field of work, she always knew how to be strong for others, and she would be more than happy to pass on these principles to another apprentice if he was willing to overcome the pain and hardship that he would no-doubt face, especially is the whisperings of trouble beyond their borders were true. But Snow Rose didn't doubt for one second that he would be able to step up in the way that she had learnt, in the way that Fenrir was learning. He would be a fine Salutary if he chose to be strong enough.

Fenrir's resolve faltered as he came into the conversation happening between Maddox and Snow. Another apprentice, one that could probably do better than he. A frown crossed his face, but he quickly wiped it off in favor of a nervous smile as his mentor suggested he would be glad to have a new friend joining the team. Fenrir was learning quickly that being a Salutary meant keeping your head up and boosting everyone's morale even in the darkest times, and saving everyone even if you can't save yourself, giving yourself up for the health of the pack, and that was something Maddox would need to understand if he wanted to be a proper healer himself. But he seemed so eager, more so than the russet male was when he was assigned to Rose's side. When it happened, it wasn't that he hated the position, but he had originally wanted to be a hunter or something cool. Now he saw that being the Salutary was one of the hardest jobs, it was very mentally taxing, while hunting or fighting was more a physically taxing job. No, he was trying to stop thinking so negatively about himself.Snow loved having him as an apprentice, she just had enough love to give and the drive to teach more than one student. She wasn't neglecting him, she wasn't replacing him. He should be grateful that someone else is interested in learning with him. He looked at Maddox and offered a genuine smile, one Snow would give. He noticed that Snow was getting ready to leave. "If you wanna learn, I can help sometimes too. We can study together."EXIT Salutary Snow Rose Apprentice Maddox

The world was silent, as usual. The wind through her pelt and the movement of the leaves were her signs that there was a breeze today. It was a little nippy, coming out of winter still held a chill to the air. She found a small hill, that overlooked the area where her group would be hunting today. She followed behind them, in her own little world. She didn't bother them and she didn't even know if they knew she had followed them. Smiling to herself, she watched Parker do his thing. If she could watch him everyday for the rest of her life, she would be happy and content. She only cared for him, and her father and her step and half-siblings, and of course her step-mom of sorts. Although, she rarely interacted with the Alphess so she really wasn't aware of how the older wolf felt towards her. She knew well enough there was no rifts or beef between them. But past that, she wasn't sure. She was glad she could make her father happy. Macha wondered if she should speak to her about that, tell her thank you, for bringing them and giving them a home. More of a home than just a pack. She had family here now, real family. She had a future. Macha would forever be grateful to Ventus and her children. Cecilia followed after the group, taking the rear. She flicked her tail as she trotted behind, head surveying the area. She enjoyed these hunting grounds so much. Not too far from where they were gave her a perfect view of the mountain ranges far to the north of them. Sometimes when she looked towards them her pulse began to race and all she wanted to do was run. But she felt like her time here wasn't up yet. That she needed to be here for a little longer, but something in her told her she didn't belong. Not yet. Her conflicting feelings kept her up at night, she felt restless, uneasy. She felt like she wasn't able to spread her wings as wide as she could there. On those mountain tops. She bit her lower lip as she now, absent mindlessly followed after the hunting party, waiting to run and to hunt. But inside all she wanted was to be free. The trek to the hunting grounds had been a familiar one to the Delta, this was where he had first been tested by Ventus and Lysic when they had found him at the borders, where they had first tested his strength, seeing if he was worthy of joining their pack. Never could he have known where he would be now, the Delta of the very same pack he had stumbled upon, the very same pack he had grown to love, the only pack to ever give him a place that he felt he truly belonged. The Delta lead his hunting party North, well aware of the reports of a group of white tail deer he had heard about, sure enough as they got closer the smell of them was absolutely clear as his nose caught it downwind of them. The Delta slowed as they got closer, not wanting to scare the frightful animals off and ruin the hunt, that would just be pitiful. Stopping in his tracked he turned to make sure everyone had followed along with him alright, his tall black ears twitching slightly. He eyed the hunters that came along with them, wanting to give them a say in their plan of action as this was their craft, keeping the hunters sharp would keep the pack fed, though he was the superior on this hunt he valued their thoughts and opinions. "Hunters." He addressed them quietly, amber eyes moving between them. "What course of action would you take given our numbers?" he waited for no one in particular to pipe up, all opinions and comments valid in his eyes, as much as he wanted to be a one wolf army, Baron knew this was a pack effort, therefore multiple thoughts and opinions would yield higher success.

Keala really needed to start visiting the hunting grounds more often. She loved the commons, with its close, cozy atmosphere of home and togetherness, but there was nothing quite as exhilarating as the freedom of the hunting grounds, the open fields stretching on for what seemed like forever, with no boundaries but earth and sky. She loped along behind Baron, enjoying the feeling of sunshine on her whitish coat and grass beneath her feet. They were a smaller party than she had expected; counting herself, there were only six. Ordinarily she’d have her eye on the others, making sure nothing went wrong, but that didn’t seem to be necessary right now. Parker could be counted on to look out for Macha, and Baron was more than capable of handling the rest, leaving Keala free to simply embrace the fun of the hunt. Cecilia’s tip about the herd of deer proved to be accurate. Following Baron’s lead, Keala slowed as they came up on the herd, dropping lower to the ground a little to make herself harder to spot. She wished, for a moment, that she’d been gifted with a dark coat like Baron’s; the delta was a shadow, easy to overlook. And I, on the other hand, stick out like a blizzard in summer. Oh well. I’ll just have to make the best of it.
She was surprised and pleased to hear Baron ask for the opinion of the hunters, and immediately set her mind to the task of figuring out how she would orchestrate the hunt if the choice was up to her. She was still building experience hunting in general, and she knew deer were a challenge, but she could think of one way that might work. She almost, almost, shied away from speaking up, considering whether or not she should leave that to the older, more experienced hunters, but finally decided against it. Baron had asked for her thoughts, and she had never been afraid to give them before. The worst they could do was decide something else, and even then she would learn something valuable for the future. “There’s only the six of us,” she said finally. “I don’t think we should overcomplicate things. We could send the most experienced three to separate one or two deer from the herd, ones that are young or old or sick, like we do with other prey. Then they could drive them toward the other three, who’d make the kill as quickly as possible. The herd would only be trying to get away from us, so we wouldn’t have to worry about any other deer but the ones we choose. Which makes the whole thing easier.” She tipped her head to one side uncertainly, glancing from one of her companions to another. “At least, that’s how I would do it,” she finished. “We can try something else, of course.” Delta Baron Omega Macha Hunting Superior Parker Scout Cecilia Warrior Nascha

Cecilia traveled behind the group, bringing up the last of the party. She had already spotted Macha, trailing further behind the party. She would check behind them every so often to make sure she was there. At one point Cecilia had lost sight of the deaf she-wolf, and panic consumed her before she spotted the molted pelt a few yards off. She looked to be going up hill, probably to find a vantage spot and watch. Cecilia trained her mind back to the task at hand. They had moved North, and just as she said, signs that there were deer. She was glad somebody listened to what she had to say, she didn’t speak often but when she did she hoped others listened. The Delta brought the group up short, eyeing them up. "Hunters. What course of action would you take given our numbers?" The Delta spoke with command, although quietly. Cecilia was not one for long winded explanations or to discuss plans. She was more for quick input and final decisions. “There’s only the six of us,” Keala, the youngest of the group spoke up. Which makes the whole thing easier.” Cecilia listened intently to the younger she-wolfs words. She was very bright and clever, befitting of an Alpha’s child. “At least, that’s how I would do it, We can try something else, of course.” The last bit had Cecilia smiling towards her, and giving a small nod of approval. “I agree with Keala,” she addressed Baron before looking to the others in the group.
