Niqo stayed alert as they traversed the terrain into the Hunting Grounds. This was much further than he usually goes for hunts and such, but he felt it made sense that the lions wouldn't want to be too close to the large pack of wolves. Ears and nose constantly picking up on what was around him and eyes constantly scanning, he eventually picked up on the scent of not one or two but three lions, like an infestation of scent that prickled the inside of his nostrils. He stopped as the Alpha did, realizing that the orders were about to be given. Looking at Rowan and listening intently for the plans, he waits for his own task, though making sure to know what the others were doing as well. "You've all got a good idea of what we're dealing with. Three lions, two paired. We'll split off into two groups; one to take the adolescent, one to take the pair. The adolescent cat should be simple. It's young, likely on its own for the first time, and shouldn't have much experience handling other predators. For it, I'd' like Hye-Su, Karini, and Niqo to step up. Well time you three learned to handle your own predators anyways," The Alpha says, though his tone is playful. Niqo had figured they would get the easier job, as they were the young ones in the pack. Though he couldn't wait to be a part of the big jobs, he knew the time would come soon enough. He gives a nod to the Alpha as a sort of show that he understands. "The rest of us will track down the pair, but I would like us to strive towards separating the two lions. When we do separate, I'd like for Wingnut, Helios, Kodiak, and myself to take one lion. Junichiro, Edon, Moose, and Valencia should take the other. As long as we all move in our groups, we should finish this without accident. Questions?" Having no questions and realizing Niqo had heard all he needed to hear, he padded to stand alongside his task-mates. Hye-Su, of ocourse, was already working something out. He liked her for that; she always seemed eager to get the ball rolling and to make sure the plans were organized, which were things Niqo also appreciated, especially in a task like this. "When we encounter it, let me grab its attention. Niqo, with your size and skills you'll do the most damage so you'll go in to do heavy hit attacks, Karini and I will jump in to drag its attention away from you. If you look to be in trouble Karini and I will double attack to give you time to gain composure. Do you agree?" Niqo nods, glad that Hye-Su trusted him with the attacks. He felt comfortable doing such a task and was glad that his strength was being seen and used. "Sounds good to me," he replies to Hye-Su, waiting on Karini. Looking at them and getting ready to start gave him a feeling of comfort. He realized he had grown up with them in this pack, starting when it wasn't even a pack, and they had gone from young and carefree to older and facing off with an adolescent mountain lion together. To be in this moment almost sent his memory reeling through his mind, reminding him of how life had changed so much as he was growing between being a pup and now. Giving a small sigh, he let this thought go to keep himself in the moment. Once the other two were ready, Niqo would nod and start to head out with them, following nose and gut. The trip into the Hunting Grounds was not a short one, though that wasn't to say it was a hard and day-long trek, merely that this was deeper in the Hunting Grounds than was the usual trip, though that was no surprise for the current task. When the scent of the damned creatures hits his nose, he scowls a bit. Their mere presence on Sorelus turf was irritating, but their multitude was even more concerning. At least they were here to deal with it. As Alpha Rowan directs his gaze at his members to give directions, Helios drags his attention away from the landscape and places it on his superior. "You've all got a good idea of what we're dealing with," he starts, looking over everyone with a serious expression. "Three lions, two paired. We'll split off in two groups; one to take the adolescent, one to take the pair. The adolescent cat should be simple. It's young, likely on its own for the first time, and shouldn't have much experience handling otheer predators. For it, I'd like Hye-Su, Karini, and Niqo to step up. Well time you three learned how to handle your own predators anyways." Helios' gaze wanders over to the young ones, a small emotion of longing in his chest. He hoped that someday, he would have pups who were being told the same thing, pups who he would be teaching to fight, hunt, and grow into young adults. He pulls his eyes away to look at his Alpha for his own instructions. "The rest of us will track down the pair, but I'd like us to strive towards separating the two lions. When we do separate, I'd like for Wingnut, Helios, Kodiak, and myself to take one lion. Junichiro, Edon, Moose, and Valencia should take the other. As long as we all move in our groups, we should finish this without accident. Questions?"Having none, Helios lets his rusted-gold gaze look over his colleagues, checking that everyone was alright and seeing if anyone had questions. So far, none, and he already stood alongside one of his group members, Wingnut. He had no questions himself, he was ready to take this task on and get that lion the hell out of here. The male was excited, and his aggressive side was starting to come out at the peek of an opportunity to use it. Trying to remain disciplined, he would stay calm and follow the plan unless things got out of hand. They weren't killing the thing, after all (sadly), and little aggression would likely be needed to chase it away, lest nothing went wrong. While the gruff male easily got aggressive with predators and enemies, he could contain himself well despite urges to fight. @wingnut Alpha Rowan

Edon padded in late, his and Kodiak's late departure making him fear he wouldn't even be any help in the hunt for the mountain lions which helped themselves to Sorelus's territory. A small sigh of relief escaped his maw as he saw the others gathered together and listened to the battle plan as he approached. So he and Kodi were going to be separated, at least he wouldn't have to worry about the distraction, though he felt disappointment bubble within his stomach. ""None, Rowan." Edon said, answering that the strategy was pretty straight forward. Edon's paws seemed to tingle with anticipation, he was more than ready to take on this big cat, expel it from his territory and keep his family safe from harms way. He looked to his cohorts, Junichiro, Moose and Valencia before looking out into the hunting territory. Everything seemed eerily still. Large amber paws padded after his male companion and Kodiak. He felt it correct to let the lovebirds walk on a bit ahead together, he wasn't trying to be a third wheel nor did he want to get between them, he had grown tired of waiting for Edon to make his move and something was finally happening, there was no way he was going to hinder him, he was supposed to be his Wingman afterall. As they approached the other wolves that Rowan had summoned to the hunting grounds, Moose put his black nose up in the air, searching for his mates familiar scent, that or the strong stench of the herbs she carried, he didn't know how she did it, some of the smells made him sick, perhaps she was a bit stronger stomached than he was. He loved her nonetheless however, even if sometimes she reeked of garlic or mint. His attention was then grabbed when Edon answered Rowan's question regarding if any of the hunters had questions about the strategy, it seemed straight forward enough, especially to a hunter who had employed similar strategy before. "Ready when you are."Moose gave the Mexican wolf a nod, then he looked around at their surroundings, noting how quiet it is, knowing it would be short lived once they found their designated big cat.

Hye-Su automatically appointed herself leader, quick to delegate task to the other two in her party. Rowan chuckled. Perhaps some would have taken issue with this sudden, unvoiced seizure of authority, but Hye-Su always led well. He’d never minded, so long as she conducted her cohorts capably. Had the yearlings’ first hunt not been a success? The yearlings themselves naturally listened much in the way his first wolves had regarded him. A “natural leader,” he believed she’d be called — wasn’t it odd how wolves selected them? Even now, he couldn’t quite yet place it, which alien, elusive aspects shaped them into those roles. Still, those were the roles they’d been given to perform, and they performed them well. Languidly, he listened on to Hye-Su’s outlined plan, searching for any loopholes, slip-ups, or blunders that’d bring the whole thing crashing down. There were none. It was simple, but well thought, with each member being fully capable of completing the tasks they’d been assigned; Niqo playing on the offensive, the others on defense. There were plenty of risks, but there would always be some element of danger in their works. Besides, if worst came to worst, all three adolescents were remarkably clever — they’d conjure up something good. Nobody in his group had any questions concerning the matter. All for the better, he decided. They were all witty, clever, more than capable of handling themselves if something inexplicably went awry. They began their ascent. Tiny, faint traces of pair peppered their surroundings, carefully shadowed to remain out of the standard wolf’s sight. If they hadn’t grown so careless in harassing their herds in recent days, they might’ve managed to stay much longer. Fortunately, so far it seemed they were unaware of them, but he’d been hunting long enough to know assumptions, no matter how mind-numbingly obvious they appeared, would always lead to some trouble. He’d lost his right eye, use of his left hind leg, and a good strip of fur due to his own heedlessness. Best to not make those same mistakes. He’d cautioned his wolves to the best of his abilities, true, but whether or not they listened was their own concern. All he could do was hope they’d heed his judgement. As he arched his jaws and sampled the air, he sensed the two. The pair was inching closer. It was almost time for the lot of them to spring into action. “Eyes up,” He cautioned. “Right on the horizon.” He wouldn’t be much use in the actual thick of the fight, but he could still provide instructions. “Approach as one,” he commanded. “Snarl, snap, give ‘em a good show. They’ll cower and split up eventually. After that, give chase.” He straightened his stance, ensuring that every sense remained attuned and alert. “Good luck everybody.” OOC: Feel free to go ahead everybody! Amber, Cinnamon, and soft cream colored pelts were the last to join the other hunting parties in the Hunting grounds. Thanks to Moose's little briefing before they set off to join Rowan and the others, Kodiak was more than familiar with what was to happen and what the supposed plan was to be. The hunter worried however, would she loose any pack mates on this outing? Would they suffer? She swallowed gently at the thought, suppressing her fears, when facing cougars one could not be afraid, they smelt fear and cats loved to prey on weakness. Wolves owed their strength to packs and numbers, there was safety in numbers. She found solace in these thoughts, letting a deep breath escape her dark nose. Kodiak split from Moose and Edon to join the hunting party Moose had explained to her was her own, joining Rowan, Wingnut and Helios. She gave a respectful bow of her head as a hello to all of them before following Rowan's lead, listening to him as he called their attention. She could smell them, two; alike yet different. Her heart beat in her ear as her hackles rose, hearing Rowan command they approach as one, then give them a good show, teeth bared before wishing them good luck. Blue eyes looked to Wingnut for a moment, wondering if this was the stoic Beta's first cougar, or if she could give some kind of helpful advice, things to look out for besides the obvious, but now was not the time for questions, now was the time for action and coordination.

Valencia had only taken several detours on her way to the Hunting Grounds, her nose stuck to the ground as she had followed the scent trails of a few herbs which would have been useful if anything were to happen during their encounter with the mountain cats, though she hoped it wouldn't come to that. She had easily managed to find sprigs of foxglove blooming alongside the coming of spring, as well as a growth of horsetail and a patch of abandoned cobwebs that she added to the sleeve which cradled her growing collection. The spry little female eventually arrived alongside the rest of her pack mates, agile paws bringing her to stand near the back of the gathered group just in time to hear Rowan announcing the teams that they would be forming for their task. “The rest of us will track down the pair, but I’d like us to strive towards separating the two lions. When we do separate, I’d like for Wingnut, Helios, Kodiak, and myself to take one lion. Junichuro, Edon, Moose, and Valencia should take the other. As long as we all move in our groups, we should finish this without accident. Questions?” Nerve began to bundle in her stomach as she looked toward the group she had been placed in. That tight feeling eased as she laid her soft sights on the likes of her own mate, a relieved sigh passing her maw as she realised that she would be able to stay close to him and come to his aid as quickly as possible is anything unthinkable happened. That uncomfortable nauseating feeling quickly returned as she tried not imagine Moose's beautiful fur—the body that she had been curled into that very morning—shredded to pieces by the cats they would be hunting. She swallowed the bile that tickled the back of her throat as she approached, a warm smile set into her cheeks as if she wasn't trying to suppress horrific thoughts that left a slight tremble in her legs. "I'm ready whenever you guys are! I'll try my best not to get in the way~." She chimed, her words surprisingly clear despite the bundle of herbs she held delicately between her teeth; herbs that she prayed she wouldn't need to use. In no time at all, Rowan began leading the group up into the higher reaches of their mountainous paradise, Valencia's smaller frame keeping up with a quickened pace as she would try to stay close to either Moose or Kodiak, her mate and a female that she felt comfortable with. It was a tediously long ascent, or at least in her mind it was. She found herself running over every possible slip up that she or someone else could make, such as what kind of injuries could be sustained and what she would have to do in order to remedy the wounds. Bites, scratches, scraps, twisted ligaments, broken bones, concussions, anything and everything that might've been a possibility swamped her train of thought, and she found herself huffing and furrowing her brow as she realised she wouldn't have Cecil here to point out her mistakes if she made any. “Eyes up,” Rowan's cautionary words brought Valencia's ears to a gentle twitch, her caramel eyes instantly finding their way across the edge of the mountain's ridges. “Right on the horizon.” They didn't seem to be in sight just yet, but she could tell they were close, the taste of their scent was getting strong in the current of the wind, and she could've sworn she had seen large paw-prints in a patch of mushy half-melted ice a few meters back on the trail. “Approach as one, snarl, snap, give ‘em a good show. They’ll cower and split up eventually. After that, give chase. Good luck everybody.” Valencia would look towards Moose as half of the group would spilt off from their own, nerves shining dangerously clear in the depths of her eyes. She wondered if anyone had noticed the slight rattle that had overcome her tiny frame, but it was something that she would have to shake off soon. You only have to bark at them, and patch up any wounds. It's nothing too exciting. Deep breathes. Deep breathes. She reassured herself one last time before waiting for someone in their mini-team to take the lead and create their path toward the cat they would be spooking.

Beta WingnutIf I Don't Understand, You are the one at fault Cougars were no laughing matter. The threat posed by the creatures, three in number, was immeasurable with defenseless youth and elderly alike in the commons. Without a complaint with Rowan's word, her eyes scanned each of the wolves delegated to defend alongside her. Helios and... Kodiak. The hunter was late, but at least had heard Rowan's commands. Surely, the group wouldn't have to travel far after separating from the yearlings, so slinking into a silent crawl, Wingnut followed Rowan.
The scent of the offensive cats grew almost unbearable as they drew up to a ridge. It was only logical to conclude that the mountain lions had either made their den there, or both were close by. With Rowan's command ringing in her ears and the cats no doubt knowing of their presence, the Beta morphed her robotic face into a snarl and raised her hackles as she growled. With a definite flick of her head, the Beta signaled the two wolves to begin their approach as well. As a united front of snapping jaws and growls, their targeted lion backed away a few steps. However, the cocky beast lunged forward, a large paw with extended claws meeting the left side of the Beta's face briefly before it bounded away. Releasing a hiss of pain, Wingnut backed away a few paces. Blinking her eye open experimentally, a feeling one could describe as relief washed over the cinnamon she-wolf.
"Give chase. Now that they're split the risk of injury is much lower," she instructed before her amber gaze searched for the small, pale frame that carried a small bundle of herbs. The Beta knew that the Salutary apprentice was apprehensive about carrying out the mission, so she could've either carried out Rowan's orders or stay behind to tend to wounds. Whenever Valencia was free, Wingnut strode towards her, face bleeding from an unknown number of scratches along its side. "One swipe across the left side of my head. Doesn't feel too deep," her robotic voice relayed the events that brought her to the apprentice.

Edon, eager to get this done, launched forward after Wingnut as she honed in on her cat and he honed in on his own. The male angled himself somewhere between the two cats, making his run in the opposite direction was preferable. As his split off from the other, Edon snapped at its heels, and latched onto it's tail, earning him an irritated yowl and, unfortunately, caused the cat to turn on him, stopping the pursuit. A massive paw swiped at his face and he jumped back, his back paw landing into a hole which caused him to fall back on his rump. The mountain lion saw it's chance and leaped, digging its claws deep into Edon's tender belly and pounding at his head. Stinging, pain, his eyes blurred and then were filled with red as he felt the skin atop his head and his ear rip off from his cranium. Claws sunk into his cheek, running down to the corner of his mouth. Teeth showed beneath the blood which gushed from his wound and he was lucky the cat had just missed his eye. Whines erupted from the males maw and a deafening screech rattled his bones, he wasn't even aware it came from him as the cat's canines sunk into his shoulder. The weight suddenly was lifted from him as he heard the sound of two bodies colliding and a scream of anger came from the cat. Edon couldn't see who his savior was, but if he had to guess, it was his best friend. The blood flowed freely from his wounds, and his shoulder stung immensely as he waited for Valencia to help bandage him up. He could only imagine what he looked like, the Mexican gray wolf could feel the creature at the very least rip his ear and he knew his cheek revealed his jaws, and everything was pulsating. Whines still fell from his maw and his breathing was ragged as he heard only the beat of his own heart in his ears. @wingnut Alpha Rowan Apprentice Valencia Hunter Moose Hunter Kodiak OOC: yikes c:

Amber eyes watched as the Beta lead the charge, morphing her robotic face into a snarling expression that Moose hadn't been aware she could make. He turned his cranium to see Edon followed her lead, large paws following after his companion, with the three of them in formation he was sure they would scare the cat off, any smart cat would flee. This one showed his cockiness however as it swiped the Beta across the left side of her face, blood beginning to drip down onto two toned tawny and black fur, the beta backed away a few steps and Moose followed Edons lead, watching as he angled between both big cats, a pool of worry forming in the large amber pelted male, it was the gut feeling he never mistrusted. Edon split off confidently, snapping at the cats back legs and putting on a very good show, Moose directed his attention to the other lion for a split second, not wanting to be taken by surprise when he heard a loud yelp, turning to see Edon pinned beneath the cougar, his heart thumped strongly in what felt like his throat, red, all he could see was red, he could smell the blood, heavy with iron. His hackles prickled up until he felt himself become numb, hearing his best friend scream, watching Edon's legs kick and fight for his life below the cat who had decided it would kill him. "Edon!" Moose screamed, his voice carrying over to anyone within distance except the mexican wolf, too busy struggling to survive to register the sound. Something possessed Moose as he ran at the cat, adrenaline taking over his thought process and numbing his muscles. Ivory canines dug into the cats shoulder as all of his weight collided with it, the strong frame of the feline faultering under the sheer force of impact Moose had gained from running at the cat before launching himself to bite into it. The two rolled, Moose's back legs kicking off of the cat in an attempt to get some distance between he and those deft claws. His attempt was successful as the cat rolled a bit more than he did, gaining his footing once again. Ears pinned back, hackles risen, a deep growl resinated in his chest as his muzzle pulled up to reveal his blood stained teeth. His instincts were in complete control in this situation and he wasn't about to let this puma take a Sorelus life as long as he lived and breathed. His show of aggression and strength of his bite seemed to do the trick as the cat pinned back its ears and turned tail, running off higher into the mountain. This hunt was far from over however as Moose kept his guard up. He wanted desperately to check on Edon, know he would live, know Kodiak would not mourn for him, but Moose was beginning to learn the unpredictability of life, how a simple thing such as not paying enough attention to a big cat could easily end in loss of life for a pack, He turned his nose up, wanting to pinpoint the second cat, turning his head as it appeared to be a short distance away, though not close enough to get the drop on he and Edon. With this confirmation he made his way back to his wounded companion, a soft whimper escaping the hunters chest as he saw just how much he was bleeding, his torn ear, and the teeth that shown beneath the wound he had sustained on his face. "Hang in there Edon, Val is going to patch you up." he hoped he could hear him, keeping his eyes on the direction the other cat was believed to be.

Finally the walking ceased. The quietness that hung in the air as they walked had created a practical cloud of tension, the other wolves' nerves registering into Helios' mind as he wondered if he was wrong for not being nervous. Of course he would be cautious, but the male met any dangerous situation with an excitement like a pup facing their first rabbit. Rowan had paused at the front, and the quietness lingered for just a second longer. "Eyes up, right on the horizon." Helios follows Rowan's words and raises his vision, letting the vile scent pounding against his nostrils motivate him. "Approach as one. Snarl, snap, give 'em a good show. They'll cower and split up eventually. After that, give chase. Good luck everybody." The last words come out sounding apocalyptic, and Helios releases his breath, settling his mind to think clearly, splitting any rogue thoughts. The intimidating male stepped forward with his peers, letting out a growl that developed into a nasty snarl which he very rarely exposed, snapping his jaws and taking slow steps as if to communicate to the cat that there was a chance for it to run. It seems this creature is rather bold as it lunges and scratches at Wingnut. Responsive immediately in an almost offended manner, Helios snaps forward, his snarl becoming louder and his teeth gnashing together at the thing. "Give chase. Now that they're split the risk of injury is much lower." Helios nods and races off with Kodiak, until he is sure that the thing is scared away for good. When he returns, he scans for Wingnut and sees her with Valencia, red dripping down her cheek. He wants to ask if she is alright, but she is with the salutary so he convinces himself it's not necessary, and her personality would probably just probe her to give him a curt reply. Tearing his gaze away, he scans around to see how everyone else looks after the events, and if there is anyone he may help. Alpha Rowan Hunter Kodiak @wingnut Apprentice Valencia

Honey colored ears focused on her Alpha as he told them to keep their eyes up, right on the horizon, these were the first cougars Kodiak had ever faced, she felt a pit form in her stomach at the thought, these cats were big, large canines and large sharp claws, she had heard stories of wolves being taken out and attacked from the rear then ripped to shreds by the predators, immense caution was to be taken, even if they had the advantage of numbers. Blue eyes looked from her surroundings to Helios as he began snarling, taking this as his way of taking the lead, Kodiak followed in step with him, using her experience from going on hunts with Moose and Edon to her advantage, she kept herself familiar with her surroundings, constantly monitoring the air for the scent of the cats, trying to pinpoint where exactly they were, she knew they were sneaky and quick, she had to out think them and out maneuver them. After watching the cat scratch at the Beta, Kodiak's ears pinned back, following alongside Helios as he snapped at the cat, chasing it off with him until a scream made her blood run cold, her head snapping to the side to watch as a familiar pelt was pinned beneath tan and white, a Mexican wolf beneath a cougar. Edon. "Edon!" she cried loudly, leaving Helios without second thought, the warrior didn't seem to notice at all, much to Kodiaks astonishment. Her white paws carried her as fast as she could, barely registering the smell of blood as she approached, a ginger pelt blurring her vision as Moose latched onto the cat and tumbled with it, valiantly placing himself between the mountain lion and his companion. Kodiak rushed to Edon's side as her throat felt as if someone was holding their maw there, a soft, shaky whimper erupting from her as she took in the sight of him. "Edon." she practically trembled with worry, "Edon please hold on."she begged, pulling her eyes from him with great effort to look for Valencia, all hope resting on the sweet apprentices shoulders. 'please save him' she thought as she looked back at Edon. "Don't leave me." she whimpered as she bent down, pressing her pelt into his, keeping herself away from his wounds, if these were his final moments she wanted to be here beside him, to comfort him as best she could, her ears listening to the beating of his strong heart, hoping she would not hear its final beat.

The mountainous ridge they were approaching was rich with the scent of a mountain lion, and Valencia knew what they would find at its peak. Wary paws kept her walking alongside her pack-mates until they made their way over the ridge, caramel eyes widening as she found herself looking at a crouched cat with fangs bared. As everyone else began barking and growling, she too attempted to join in with some of the most pathetic barks a wolf could ever muster, her voice shaking almost as badly as the rest of her body was. As soon as they had begun their attack on the lion, its massive paw swiped out and struck their Beta against her cheek, the intense smell of blood suddenly filling the air and calling Valencia to work. With her herb satchel help tightly within her maw, she swiftly approached Wingnut as she instructed everyone else to go ahead and deal with the fleeing cat. "One swipe across the left side of my head. Doesn't feel too deep," the she-wolf was right, the scratches along her rounded face luckily being deep enough to draw a few dribbles of blood without doing any catastrophic damage to any muscles or tendons. "Ah, it's just a flesh wound. You're very lucky it's not anything worse, Beta Wingnut." She commented with a smile after placing her sleeve of herbs of the ground and unravelling them to see what she had to work with. As the wound wasn't anything too deep, Valencia decided that sorrel would work best to sooth the scratches. Taking the plant and grinding it thoroughly against her molars, she eventually found herself happy with the consistency of the paste that had gathered itself against her tongue. With a practiced movement, she swiped her sorrel-coated tongue against the area of broken skin, making sure that the spread was as even as possible to ensure that the sorrel would be able to do its job. Only seconds after she had pulled away from the Beta, finally happy with the application of the herb, a blood-curdling scream shattered the mountainous air, sending Valencia's heart into her throat as she quickly scooped up her herbs and ran down the path that the rest of her pack-mates had taken. Fear throbbed at the back of her head, hoping that nobody had died on what was supposed to be her watch. Valencia wasn't sure that she would ever be able to forgive herself for something like that, and as she came skidding down through the trees she found herself staring at a scene almost as bad as she had imagined. In front of her, Moose had latched himself onto the mountain lion's shoulder, terrifying growls ripping from his throat as the pair tumbled across the ground. Valencia yipped, horrified by the sight of her mate being in such close quarters with the beast, preying that he wouldn't be the body she feared they would have to bring back. But the brute found his paws before the cougar did, growling and snapping at the cat with his enormous frame being enough to drive the feline to his feet and flee. The Apprentice was relieved to see her mate unharmed, but the same couldn't be said for Edon as her gaze quickly shifted down to the whimpering young male, blood staining his timber fur and pooling against the ground below him. Instantly, Valencia found herself at his side, giving a small and gentle nudge to Kodiak's shoulder as she attempted to create some room for her to work on such injuries. "I'm sorry dear, I just need some room to work. I promise you, he will be okay." She assured the distressed female after dropping her satchel of herbs. "I need poppy seeds," she announced for anyone to hear, hoping that someone would be able to identify the plant and fetch it for her. She knew that Moose may have been familiar with the plant she used and brought home so often, but she couldn't care less about who fetched the seeds, as long as they were in her possession by the time she was finished patching up the injured male. Unrolling the sleeve of herbs, she found her maw gravitating towards the large swaths of horsetail she had been lucky enough to find. Taking the plant in her mouth, she quickly began chewing away at the flora, working it between her jaws until it had been reduced into a slick poultice. Wasting no time, she began spitting the liquid against his stomach, using her tongue to clean the wounds while spreading the horsetail across the horribly deep wounds. Next, she began to pack the cuts with leaves of foxglove, carefully avoiding ingesting the deadly seeds as she used the plants to quickly stop the immense amount of bleeding. Finally, she secured the entire concoction with reams of cobwebs, using them to soak up the last little bits of bleeding while also hoping they would help to keep the foxtail leaves in place when they would have to move him. She continued this process for the bite marks along his shoulder, the grizzly wounds against his maw and the stub that he had left for an ear. By the end of her work she barely had any foxglove, horsetail or cobwebs left, but she was grateful that she had managed to collect enough to treat his wounds effectively while they were so far away from the Commons. When they got back, she and Cecil would be able to properly care for his wounds and make sure that no infection found its way past their treatments. Looking back to the array of herbs she had brought with her, mocha eyes landed upon the likes of the dock plant that Cecil had given her, and one last thought crossed her mind. As she had done with the horsetail, she scooped up the herb and began grinding it between her teeth before applying the paste along most of his wounds, hoping that the soothing elements of the plant would help to calm the throbbing heat that was no doubt pounding at the deep cuts. Falling back onto her rump, Valencia took a deep breath before looking up for whoever had went to fetch the poppy seeds. She would give them a nod towards Edon. "He'll need those to numb the pain of the travel back to the Commons," she said, hoping that their returning journey would be nothing too painful for any of them. After catching her breath for a few seconds, wandering eyes made their way around the group, "Is anyone else injured?"

All the excitement, panic, fear, and anticipation came swirling to a mass as the moment finally faced them. Or, perhaps, as they faced the moment. The animals were near enough for Alpha Rowan to give his directions, and the other two groups had initiated doing their parts. It was time that Niqo's did the same. They had the plan laid out, and Niqo was happy with it. He was in a position that suited his skills well and he felt he could be an asset, which took the anxiety of not being any help out of his chest and instead filled it with relief like mist settling down into a valley, calming any nerves he had. He was glad that they had the young cougar and would therefore be able to do damage to it without fear of harmful retaliation, and that it was a less-dangerous situation, since they weren't as old and experienced as the other wolves. "Well," he says, a small playful tone to keep the morale up, "I say we kick it off. You ready?" he asks Hye-Su with a reassuring smile. Once they are ready and in position, he moves not far with his partner to find where the scent of the young cougar clumped in a non-physical mass of foul odor, spotting the creature. Once he sees its sandy pelt, he looks to his companion and gives a dip of his head, an I'm ready signal. Once Hye-Su has the creature's attention, Niqo runs in where the young cougar will not notice him til last minute, and delivers a strong bite to it's flank. The creature yowls at the sinking of his teeth into its skin, and he is quick to release so that it can not get a blow in, readying himself to go in again until the thing takes the hint and scatters. Though it is young, it could still do some damage. Breathing out, he thinks to himself, well, here we go. Now that this was started, all they had to do was work together as a duo and finish it. A familiar relief washed over Moose as Valencia's pelt made itself present as she rushed over, small medicine bag in mouth as she ran as fast as she could to Edon's aid. Making note to ask her later, he was sure Edon would be the worst first case she had ever had of this degree, though for an apprentice she worked very fast. As she nudged Kodiak out of the way Moose was sure to give the panicking female a soft nod of reassurance. The amber male had to hand it to Edon, getting mauled by a cougar sure was one way to get the girl you like to fall for you, nothing like a near death experience to grow closer. Though he was sure he would hear some cautious words from Valencia later had she witnessed his heroics with the mountain lion; he knew she meant well by it however, this could be him she is currently patching up, or him getting drug back to Sorelus, coat mangled beyond recognition. The Hunter was glad he had suggested Valencia come along, her fast response very well may have been the difference between life and death for Edon. "I need poppy seeds," the voice he had grown fond of chimed in his ears, the thought of his first encounter with poppy seeds crossed his mind. He recalls going out with Valencia and spotting the semi tall plants, round on the top like a bulb, he wondered if he were to bite one if it would explode or simply crumple. Giving into his curiosity he decided to bite into one of the bulbs, the liquid on the inside practically exploding on impact with his teeth. With a soft chuckle Moose looked around to find Valencia, then his mouth began to feel extremely numb and he gave into panic, sticking his tongue out, he couldn't taste the air. What had he done?! "Valencia!" he called, though it sounded much more slurred. Her initial reaction was one of concern until she had figured out what he did, to which she laughed "Thats Poppy, Moosie, its a numbing agent" that was the last time he played with strange herbs before consulting his salutary to be mate. "I'm on it." he said to her request, thinking about making a joke but deciding against it due to the severity of the situation. Recalling what Valencia had told him previously about where Poppy grows he had little difficulty finding a few stalks, being careful to grab the stem of the plant, not the bulb, carrying a few delicately in his mouth like a bouquet of sorts. He padded back over after only a few moments, laying the bulbs on the ground before meeting eyes with Valencia, receiving her nod, he sat beside where she had planted her rump, turning his head to plant it atop hers, his lower jaw laying across her ears, his ears trained forward in the direction of the other hunting party, no one seemed to be getting mauled over there, but he only assumed so due to the distinct lack of screaming.
