S C O U T H Y E - S U O F S O R E L U S
Niqo was more than happy to go with her plan, but with further inspection she noticed that Karini had decided not to join them. Hye-Su missed her look-a-like companion, briefly, before her mind was once again on the task at hand. She knew that the choice was Karini's and held nothing against her, happy that she was doing what she felt comfortable with. Although, Hye-Su wouldn't delve to deeply into the minor disappointment that blossomed in her mind, but once again, task at hand.
Again, Niqo seemed to greatly appreciate her plan. Of course her plan was concrete, anyone would agree. The confidence she felt only increased by what she could only say was an approving glance from Rowan. The ego was getting to her, which was Hye-Su's hubris.
"Well, - I say we kick it off. You ready?" Hye-Su was more than happy to agree, appreciating his upbeat tone. This would be a fun, new experience for her, one that would test her skills. Not only that, would test his as well and even though he held the optimistic tone, she could tell he was taking this seriously.
Knowing her partner was serious sobered her ego up and as they parted, she whispered towards him, "Good Luck".
Laying low she crouched into position. The young cougar looked to be small, possibly a female, and distracted by what looked to be the remnants of a rabbit. She waited until she saw Niqo's figure getting into position, awaiting the signal she waited patiently. Once she saw the nod, she began to move out. Slowly, she didn't want to spook the cougar into a run but for him to come at her.
Slowly coming into view, she made herself look small and weak, something to attack if the cougar was hungry enough. When yellow eyes met her own plum she knew her ruse had worked. As the cougar growled, she slunked backwards, acting timid. that's when Niqo pounced, teeth sinking into the cougar, the later yowling in pain and surprise.
The cougar whipped around to face her attacker, but Niqo was already out of the way and Hye-Su had already began to her lunge. Her job was to keep the cougars attention, her attacks needed to be aimed at the swifter wolf and not the mass that was Niqo. She let out a fierce snarl, her mouth grabbing onto the cougars tail and yanking backwards. The first swiped the cougar made was a miss, and Hye-Su let go last minute as the second bat of claws came her way. This left the entire flank and back of the cougar exposed.
@niqo Alpha Rowan 500 So my next post for Hye-Su will be where she takes damage, doing something similar but being too cocky with how successful they were being and caused her to misjudge an attack.

BA-BUM.
Blood rushed through his eardrums, the voices of his packmates sizzling then fading out, an echo of nothing in particular just sounds pounding in his head and bouncing around the confines of his skull. A ginger cloud appeared in front of him, his eyes tried to focus desperately, and though they didn’t, he knew who stood before him, big enough to obscure his entire field of vision. Moose. Calming words fell from the brutes mouth, he assumed, the vibrations falling onto him and rattling his rib cage and Edon felt his heart slow.
BA-BUM.
Burning, searing pain flowed down along his jaw and blood filled the cavity that once was covered by his ear, muffling the noises around him more. The world, or what he could see of it, spun viciously and caused the male’s stomach to churn with the motion he swore he felt, but the earth stayed still. “Edon!” It was called out by a voice so angelic, he looked to the sky, Amber oculars squinting at the beams of sunlight that violated them, sure an angel was calling him. It was still muffled, but familiar enough to know it was his name.
BA-BUM.
The world, once spinning, halted quickly and his swimming vision stilled at the center of his view as he looked to his side, the panicked blue eyes of his lover - though they had not indulged themselves with referring to one another as such - catching his own. “Edon,” she muttered, ever so softly and his heart would have fluttered had it not been trying so hard to keep his blood moving to reach his heart. The blood spilled over the crevasse that was now his cheek and the irony taste fell onto his tongue. “Edon, please hold on,” she pleaded, the tone in her voice almost enough to fill the Mexican wolf with the energy he needed to at least get back to the commons. “Don’t leave me.” Edon’s head slumped to the ground, his eyes never leaving hers, and with what was left of his cheek, Edon gave his best smirk, showing more on his intact side than his ripped one and his voice, tense with pain, he flicked his remaining ear. “Wouldn’t dream of it, Doll.”
BA-BUM.
Spices filled Edon’s senses, the warmth of the smell and the pelt that pressed against him rousing him from his unconscious spell. He raised his head once more, as he found Kodiak nestled against him, Valencia working diligently to stop the bleeding by packing his wounds with cobwebs. It worked, the strands of the material staining crimson as moose dropped a bundle of poppy before him. The mexican wolf’s muscles tensed and he jumped at Moose’s “sudden” appearance and his head lulled onto Kodiak’s shoulder once more. Unconsiousness ebbed and flowed like the waves in the ocean, red lidded eyes fluttering and closing every so often as the adrenaline worked its way through his veins, causing the stinging pain to subside slightly. He was drained. Edon felt rather silly now, being tended to by the gentle salutary apprentice, the pretties wolf in the pack and the one wolf he looked up to and respected, his best friend. Had he taken his job more seriously, put thought into his actions rather than trying to rush it, the smaller cat might not have gotten the better of him. Duly noted for next time. The male sniffed eagerly at the poppy, waiting for Valencia to offer him some that he could lick up onto his drying, maroon tongue though he found himself unable to lift his head now. He looked up at Valencia, amber eyes pleading for relief from the lessened throbbing shaking his brain.

Red. So much red. Kodiak had no idea so much blood could seep out of someone who still breathed. He still breathes, of that she was sure, she could hear the steadily thumping, the way his heart and his lungs were fighting to stay alive. Edon always had been a fighter in everything he did, fighting for survival as a rogue, fighting for his pack against a cougar, fighting for her heart. As Valencia gently nudged her in order to start bandaging him and treating his wounds Kodiak did as she asked, hindering Edon's medical attention was the last thing the female could want. 'Wouldn't dream of it doll.' came his voice again, noticeably weaker than he had ever sounded. How her heart hurt, how she hated seeing him so wounded, how she hated fearing for his life. Blue hues watched as Moose's familiar amber pelt disappeared into the tree line in search of the numbing poppy. Kodiak bowed her head as she let a few crystalline tears run down her soft white muzzle. She could never have imagined something like this would happen, not to Edon, not to anyone. She looked to Valencia, her saving grace, her one hope for Edon to live. "Valencia.." she said, voice shaky from stress and from the gentle sobs that wracked through her rib cage. "Is he going to make it?" she could barely ask, afraid of the answer she would receive. It was true they had not loved eachother for very long, but she had never felt for anyone before as she now felt for him. They had bonded over joining a new pack and have grown together, loosing him now would be a loss she would feel weigh heavily on her heart as long as she lived.

Beta WingnutIf I Don't Understand, You are the one at fault It was good news for the Beta. According to Valencia, her wounds were minimal and weren't life threatening in the slightest. The sorrel she-wolf stood still while the Salutary Apprentice slathered a paste onto her face. No sooner had she done this when the sound of a scream, the sound that no wolf wanted to hear while on a hunt, rang across the mountains. In an instant, the Beta was on her paws. She didn't know if Rowan just couldn't see out that side of his face, or if he was in a daze, but he didn't make any move towards the downed form of Edon and the approaching crowd. Wingnut moved towards the rush, careful not to impede Valencia.
Edon was a mess. Blood spilled across the grass, but at least the male's chest still heaved. It was always a good thing if he was still breathing. Valencia's scramble for herbs was in almost a foreign language to the Beta, but she knew for sure that it held great importance. The youngest members of Sorelus continued their own hunt of the mountain lion, but the adults crowded around Edon's downed form. His babbled words were enough to give her hope that he would survive. As Valencia treated him, Wingnut approached, her voice taking authority over the situation, "Do you need me to go fetch Cecil?"

For all his thought-out cautioning, the hunt could have gone exponentially smoother than it had.
The youth had been a bit cockier than expected. Perhaps they’d pressed it too much, forced it into feeling trapped, cornered against the ashen cliff face. Ragged ears rotated back as he arched his hackles and curled his lips in a snarl, ready for a fine show. A united array of snaps and snarls was just what was needed to send the smaller cat reeling —within moments of the display, it decided to flee — but not before landing a square aimed blow on Wingnut’s face. A pained hiss passed between her lips, but little more than that. Even in her worst pain, he’d never heard her yelp, whine, or whimper; remaining just as stoic as she was in all things. Still, he took care to limp by her side to inspect. "Give chase. Now that they're split the risk of injury is much lower," she commanded somberly, entirely unphased. He wouldn’t have expected anything less; but it did make more sense as she clarified her wound was only a scratch.
Yet it appeared Wingnut’s scratch wouldn’t be the worst of the wounds they faced today. A screech arose nearby; distinctly male — either Moose or Edon had caught the foul end of a cougar’s ragged claws. He waited breathlessly. Valencia instantly took flight, tearing through the nearby brush to examine what exactly had gone awry over there. Not to worry! She was young, swift, lightfooted. The best he could hope for was a hasty, well-intentioned hobble — but perhaps such was the price of having a half-blind, half-crippled ruler. The lame leg thudded like a dead weight, pulling his pace back as though he were just as old as Cecil. He scoffed at the thought — then instantly hurried on. Assistance was needed.
The sight that greeted him was oddly reminiscent of that god-awful hunt that had robbed him of an eye and a limb, and Wingnut of her dignity. (The latter of which was arguably worse.) Edon lay sporting a well-flayed underbelly, short an ear and what appeared to be multiple chunks of flesh. Kodiak was absolutely desolate, weeping by his side, pleading for him to remain by her side. “Don’t worry,” He assured her as Val ushered her away. “He’ll be alright.” Cecil had taught his apprentice well, after all, and they’d still yet to lose a life. Besides, Val had all that she needed. With a good month’s rest and the right care, Edon would be well-recovered in no time. “You did well, Edon.” Rowan praised him gently. “We’ll be getting back home soon enough. You as well, Moose. You saved his life.” Curiously, he cocked his head over his shoulder, carefully surveying the wolves present. “Where is Junichuro?” Silence — not a single answer to be had amongst them. He shook his head. There was the chance he was alright, true, but if Rowan were to have been completely honest, he was certain he had abandoned them. General Junichuro, to put it in the politest of terms, had never appeared to be exceptionally fond of any of them, and in this mission — one he’d never wanted to do in the first place — had been markedly quiet. “Never mind,” Rowan muttered.
Wingnut voiced the question of whether or not to fetch Cecil. Rowan shook his head. “Let’s try bringing him back, once the bleeding’s eased up enough. No matter how many we bring, there’s only so much that can be carried back. Valencia’s got this under control.” He lowered himself onto his haunches, keenly listening to the yearling’s battle. Hopefully all were alright. They’d everything in their favor after all — fine training, a decent bond, good weather —
Actually, scratch that last one. It had just began raining.

As Rowan's presence joined them at the site of where the cougar attack had taken place, Moose's amber eyes fell upon the Alpha, grateful that at the very least he had not been harmed, Edon had clearly gotten the worst of it and Wingnut her own, but no one had been lost on the hunt, it was a victory to him in that way. As Edon's weak voice came from him, talking to Kodiak who turned her attention to Valencia, asking his prognosis Moose was confident, confident in his best friends ability to pull through, he knew Edon would live, he had no will to die, no will to leave Kodiak here alone, that much he knew, the amber male was just glad that through his own swift actions Edon would live to breathe another day, maybe live to one day father pups and move up in the pack. “You did well, Edon.” said their Alpha before adding "“We’ll be getting back home soon enough. You as well, Moose. You saved his life.” The hunter bowed his head in thanks, receiving the recognition he deserved for such a feat, but not one that was uncharacteristic of he, in his mind Moose had done what he absolutely should have, even if that meant there was a chance he would die defending someone of his own pack, it was his duty, one he would have fulfilled for anyone who had come on the hunt with them. "I wasn't about to let that cougar take the life of one of my pack mates. Not now, not ever." He said confidently. If anyone was strong enough to pull through such an attack it would be his best friend, the same one he met as a rogue what feels like ages ago. Moose gently crouched down, sliding his nose and head beneath Edon before passing his shoulders under him, with a heaving breath he stood up, thanks to his height and the muscle mass he offered, picking Edon up with some effort, he was not a feather weight after all. "Jeez Edon." Moose chuckled beneath him and took steady steps back toward the commons, back to Cecil, he was overdue for a conversation with the aged Salutary he had began referring to as 'Gramps'. He was sure he would be proud of his apprentices handiwork too, the Hunter would certainly talk her up and mention her immediate response which was paramount in saving Edon's life. But when did Moose not talk up his mate? He was sure by now his pack mates were tired of listening to it. -Exit to: Sorelus Commons- OOC: Dae gave me her stamp of approval

The fight was going smoothly, but a little longer than Hye-Su liked. Niqo was doing his job and damaging the creature and Hye-Su was jumping in and distracting, even landing a hit or two herself. However, the time it was taking to bring down a yearling was bothering her. The two needed to be more efficient for thing to matter. They were taking too long. Too hasty, too impatient, too cocky, Hye-Su jumped towards the cougar, and hesitated too long. A fire of pain racked down her flank as she attempted to dodge an attack. She let out a whine, turning around and dealing her own damage to the face of the cougar. The cougar pulled away in pain, as she realized she had aimed a paw at one of the eyes of the cougar. Lucky hit. Next thing she knew though Niqo was on top of the cougar, throat in his maw. A sickening snap was herd and the cougar lay no more. She eyed her friend with a grateful smile, "Congrats, you got the kill," she commented. "Lets go find Valencia or Cecil and head home," she murmured, moving to walk. The pain seared through her and she let out a hiss. Looking backwards, the claws had dug in deep across the lower part of her flank and down her thigh of her right hind leg. She hoped that Valencia will say that it isn't too bad. Patch her up and call it good. As she walked, she limped, not letting her back leg do much else besides to support her weight momentarily until she moved on with her other limbs. She kept her tail rigid, helping with balance, and eyes forward. She did not try to show any signs of labored breathing, or her clenched jaw to keep her from wincing and whining at every step. Eyes forwards she ended up auto piloting back to the commons. Exit to Sorelus Commons Alpha Rowan @niqo Apprentice Valencia Salutary Cecil

The smell of fresh herbs and spilt blood filled the air. A smell she was not unused to by now, yet the sight that lay in front of her was still disturbing. So much damage inflicted by the wild cat, a beast that her own mate had faced and survived. She could very easily imagine how Kodiak felt, the pure thought of Moose laying in Edon's place making her sick to the stomach. She shouldn't have been thankful that it had been Edon to take such a massive blow, but it was a truth she felt best saved to herself considering her rank. With thoughts of her mate swimming heavily in her mind, a sigh of relief pressed past her lips as she watched his large figure break through the tree line with those beautiful pods of poppy seeds clasped gently in his maw. A smile twitched across her lips as he placed them in front of Edon. "Thank you, Moosie. You've really outdone yourself today, I'm so proud!" She chimed before she jumped up and planted a small lick against the curvature of his cheek. It didn't take too long for Edon to finally pull himself out of the deadly slumber caused by mass amounts of shock and blood loss. Valencia was instantly on her paws, nudging the pods towards the Hunter. "Don't move too much. Here, munch on these." The opium of the seeds were sure to offer a great amount of relief to the male who was undoubtedly experiencing the greatest amount of pain one could experience in a life time; it hurt just to look at his wounds. Though even with her rather skilful patch-work, he wouldn't last long away from the proper care and greater resources that Cecil could provide, Valencia was simply acting as a field medic, and Edon's wounds required something more than the few herbs she had managed to scrounge up and bring with her. Just as these thoughts began working their way through her head, the familiar robotic inflections of Wingnut reached her rounded ears. Valencia's warm gaze found the Beta, shaking her head at the female's question. "It would be better if we brought him to Cecil. Gramps might have some trouble getting out here, and he has all the herbs we should need with him in the Commons." She explained, nodding along to her own words. Luckily, it seemed like no one else was injured and requiring her attention, even the crippled Alpha had survived his ordeal with the cats as he limped onto the scene with the same scars that still provoked curiosity from the she-wolf. Rowan was quick to hand out praise to his wolves before suggesting the group begin their exodus to the Commons. Valencia was glad they weren't about to stand around wasting any more time whilst Edon's condition was still critical. He needed to be properly cared for before it was too late. Though the naive she-wolf was unaware of the danger that loomed over each of their lives as they began their trek and the skies opened upon them.

Edon eagerly took the bundle of poppy from Valencia as she offered them to him, feeling their seeds burst as he bit into them. Poppy never acted immediately, much to his disappointment, but he waited for the effects none the less. The Mexican Gray Wolf didn't remember much after that, only the feeling of being picked up and laid across the back of his best friend and Moose making his way back to the commons. Along the way, he felt the effects of the poppy, making his head spin slightly with every pawstep his fellow hunter took. Edon felt his consiousness ebb and flow, until he finally let himself rest, his eyes shutting and his slightly ragged breathing slowing.

Beta WingnutIf I Don't Understand, You are the one at fault With Valencia and Rowan both recommending that they bring Edon's battered body back to see Cecil in person, Wingnut responded with a curt nod. She knew better than to doubt the advice of a Salutary, even if she was only his apprentice. Moose was the one to lift the downed hunter onto broad shoulders once his bleeding finally slowed. The male was fragile, but would likely survive the trip to the commons on his friend's back. The logical Beta presumed that once the hunting party had arrived back at the commons, Edon would be taken to Cecil for care, and the rest of the party sporting injuries would have a chance to relax. The Beta was sharp-eyed, noting Hye-Su's limp on their journey back, but knowing that the equally stubborn yearling wouldn't easily yield to questioning about weakness. She traveled back to the commons in relative silence.

With enough confirmation from Valencia’s diligence Kodiak rose from where she had lain beside Edon, the steady beating of his heart had been the only confirmation she had that the cougar hadn’t snuffed out what will he had left to live. Her blue eyes watched, crystalline tears threatening to spill further down her muzzle as Moose lifted Edon onto his back, leading the way back to Sorelus as it had began to rain, gently at first, a few drops here and there until it began to down pour, heavy thick droplets coating she and the rest of her fellow pack mates. She squinted her eyes as she followed Moose back, hoping her day wouldn’t get any worse. -Exit to: Sorelus Common Grounds-
