A silver- grey male approached, clinging to the edges of the group nervously. Fury glanced up as the larger male answered her, "I'm doing just fine. Though if one of you need something to eat, I'd treasure the opportunity to stretch my legs," and then snapped at the silver- and black- male irritably, and the charcoal, pressing himself into the ground, stuttered, an apology. "I- I'm sorry, I was just passing through." Fury flicked her attention to him, taking in a perhaps once- large frame that was made lean with obvious hunger. The thing looked half- starved, as an understatement, in fact his size seemed rather a lie in all. Perhaps the submission was just from his hunger, but the male wasn't showing any of the signs of dominance typical of larger wolves.
"D- Do you know where I could find dome prey?" Fury held him in an assessing gaze, before grunting and picking up what remained of the carcass of her mouse and tossing the remains to the skinny wolf. "Here," never one to turn away a wolf in need. Turning now to the more dominant male, standing and shaking her thick charcoal shaded pelt, she responded, "Sure. Looks like we need to." She glanced toward Rae, still watching the larger brute, then waved her tail in the general direction that she had found the first mouse. "There may be some more over there." Fury knew she would be watching her own back more than prey hunting with a stranger, but hunger still gnawed at her belly, and so long as she was alert, what was the harm in trying?

"Here," The older of the female said, "There may be some more over there." He looked at the young wolf that accompanied her, he could see the younger wolf was hungry, and she had a much longer life to live than she did. "Here," he said "keep it." then flicking his tail at the younger wolf he added "She has a longer life ahead of her than either of us, she needs the food more than we do. But thank you for the directions." Then he turned to the area she had pointed to. He could already scent mice."Thank you." He said again as he wandered into the strange grass.

Lluise
Lluise listened, her pretty smile stretched across her delicate features. How funny. When the two wolves departed, Llu yawned and stretched her back and neck. She listened to the satisfying pop that came when she cracked her neck and looked back to where the two females had gone. "Now you've gone and lost your toys." The snowflake grumble begrudgingly to herself as she prepared to seat herself. She halted when she noticed she was about to sit on dirt and in one sweeping motion pulled herself away from the spot. "Oh, whatever shall I do?" She tittered, her sweet little tones filling the engulfing silence for mere moments before the voice had disappeared.
Lluise began walking in a direction. Which direction? She could care less. "Well, I have learned that the rogues in this area are full of shit. Thats okay though. Just gotta find me a new area is all." Lluise snarled to herself as she continued on, light liver paws falling gently on the hard packed soil. This place, and every wolf in it, could kiss her goddamn ass if they wanted. Lluise was out to find new prey somewhere else.

Wish sniffed the air in search of mice. Right as he scented one, he noticed another scent, Lubrusca. He couldn't believe it! He rushed towards the scent, then caught sight of a mouse. He could feel his mouth starting to water. It had been so long since he had eaten. He quickly grabbed it and killed it with his strong jaws. He gobbled it up as soon as he caught it. He then stood up and thought for a minute. "Hmm," he thought aloud, "Maybe I should bring prey to Lubrusca if I just wandered in without an offering they'd probably kick me out as soon as they saw me." Thinking about this, he caught two more mice. He ate the first and padded off towards the Lubrusca with the second in his jaw.

Rae "With molten eyes and a smile made for war,"
She had zoned out the second that all the talking began. It bored her, everything bored her. Rae was a wildfire trapped on ice and she held no amount of interest in the small talk that was currently going on between Fury and the two new arrivals. Her burning gaze was cast to the distance, watching the horizon with a keen curiosity. Somewhere out there was a place where she would belong, where she could grow into the strong and respectable she-wolf that she had always dreamed of being. She could practically smell it on the wind, the strength and loyalty that shrouded that place. Rae blinked as she fell further into this fantasy, her eyelids drooping and her eyes being clouded.
She didn't even care for the food that was placed in front of her by one of the strangers, she didn't bother to pick up any of the words that were spoken. This place was boring, these wolves were boring...and she could fix that issue.
So without a second thought, Rae picked herself up and stood as tall as she would dare, head held high as she threw a grunt over her shoulder, a signal to mark her leaving. Whether any of them followed or not, she did not care. She only walked forward, courage pounding in her blood as she sought what she was after.

Topaz, in all honesty, found the ebony and white female who stood before him rather repulsive. Boring, and plain. Shrugging with disinterest, the handsome wolf stretched out his body, muscles rolling and bones clicking as he did so. Why would he linger here if he had no interest in these wolves? As if she replicated the older male's way of thinking, the pretty little alabaster bitch stood up, and with a grunt, padded away. Like this wolf, he desired a more interesting life, but in a different way. He did not follow the snowy hued lupine.
Instead, with a final nod to Fury, he started away, breaking into a brisk trot as he started a journey that was bound to take a 1-3 days. A pack rumored to be recruiting, one that had gone through tragedy but persevered. Leaving the territory, Topaz would pause and hunt, and stop to take a drink as quickly made his way to his hope for a better life.

Just like that, she was alone again.
Rae stood and, without a word, left the small gathering, with only a glance over her shoulder to signify her leaving. The silver- and black male thanked Fury, as he strode off in the direction of Somnus. She grunted in acknowledgement; though she doubted that he'd hear. The large, adult male, too, took his leave, nodding at the ash- and silver female before standing and heading off in roughly the same direction as the smaller male.
She looked around at the suddenly deserted space for a long moment, at the sparse trees, the scuffed dirt, the drying blood that marked where the body of the mouse had been. She huffed a gusty sigh; and slumped down on the ground, resting her head on her silver paws and half closing her eyes. Well then.
Perhaps she'd stay here awhile. Perhaps she'd continue to travel, explore; find somewhere new, learn more of the land. Yes; curiosity and energy aroused at the promise of exploration, Fury stood again, ears erect as her paws carried her to new places.

Slow, plodding steps carried the female along her unseen path, each raise of her paws a battle, a fight against the fatigue that had plagued her over the past several days. Each breath was painful too, agonizingly slow and shallow. It was as if she would never be able to pull enough air into her lungs. Her heart pounded in her chest, a fast, aching rhythm to couple with the stabbing pain within her gut.
Cursed with an inability to see, Iya had never been able to hunt. And now, with likely a few weeks having passed since her last meal, she was very clearly experiencing the consequences of that particular weakness. She’d been lucky enough to stumble upon water several times in the past week, but food was an entirely different story. She’d found nothing at all, not a scrap left behind by another predator - though Iya could hardly consider herself a predator by any means.
Aware of nothing but the grass beneath her aching paws, the she-wolf carried on, her trembling, thin legs taking every ounce of strength they possessed to carry her forward. Soon enough, however, everything left within her had been drained. Stumbling forward, the blind female collapsed in a heap on her side, her flanks heaving with each and every shallow breath. Gray-blue eyes, milky and blank with her disability, stared unknowingly into the void lain out before her. Here, she was vulnerable. She could not move, could not run, could not hide. Perhaps she would die here, or perhaps not. In the moment, her future was seemed as bleak and desolate as the abyss hidden behind her sightless eyes. Fate was in control now.
OOC: Short post, but I’m just getting back reused to her ^-^ I can’t wait for her to meet Likotha!

Lubruscan damp had soaked his pelt with cold, wintry currents, a light autumn nip chilling its churning tides. Dripping, narrow droplet streams pooled from his fur, drenching the dry ground beneath him with haughty consistency. The herd's initial chaos had calmed the moment their hooves left the water; their fleeting, desperate flight shifting to a slow, ambling canter. Predators rarely pursued their prey beyond the bright Lubruscan blue, a swift, hurried swim equating safety as often time had taught them. Gradually, the water sleek wisps had fallen into fluid singularity, a gentle amble presiding their pace at the hunter's flattened, wet fur and meek approach. No more need for dripping fangs and prickled, bristling pelts. Ferus's hunting territory was but a night away moving at their current pace, a full arrival guaranteed by next morning's dawn. Tired, stumbling targets stopped one by one at the sight of lush grazing land, feeding replacing fight priorities. Carefully, he adjusted his pace accordingly, awaiting the arrival of his other hunters with a quiet wariness. A brief assembly was in order. What a wonderful understatement - 'a brief assembly' indeed. Two of their party, their packmates, were dead in what was originally supposed to be something tediously simple. Which was nothing to say for the fact that not only was one a Delta, but they both also happened to be the love interests of two of Ferus's finest, General Azriel and their Alpha. Sudden rage swept over him as he overlooked his now tranquil charges, a deep-rooted anger directed towards the total stupidity of the deaths that'd occurred, of the onslaught that he'd inevitably have to deal with. It'd been such a simple order it was infuriating- granted, Pandora may have been unavoidable, a tragic accident - but Xanthe was needless. Don't run directly into the herd - did she think that he'd been teasing, bluffing when he'd warned of the dangers? Her death been a perfectly, mind-numbingly preventable incident. Instead, he could've sworn he'd seen the slightest glimmer of mockery as she'd raised her mottled head; a direct, malicious defiance of an order a pup could've fully complied with. And to make all matters worse, he'd be tasked with answering why to Azriel and Jay, as to what could Pandora have possibly meant to melancholy Xanthe, as skilled as she was, to justify a compulsive act of self-slaughter? They'd had no love for each other as far as he'd observed, minimal speech and minimal action since the moment that Pandora arrived. An impossibly abstract question that he could hardly begin to contemplate a plausible answer to. Regardless of reasoning, his wolves needed order, structure, options in his leave. Leaving the corpses, entrusting a wolf to retrieve them, risking further accident was out of question. In his absence, his party needed commands. As they assembled, he lifted himself off his haunches, meeting their gaze with a wary, attentive eye. "I don't know how much you may have seen," he began, his tone suddenly taking a sudden, new sense of urgency. "But Pandora and Xanthe are dead. There's no question, no other possibilities otherwise, they're dead. I will be leaving to retrieve the bodies and bring them back to Ferus for proper burial. The journey's a night away at walking pace - Aspen and I have journeyed here before - if you leave now, you can make it back to the territory by sunrise. Aspen will lead in my absence. " If the alabaster she wolf was near, he'd nip her ear in a gentle, affectionate gesture, in light of their recent tragedy. Besides a member of his original party, she'd travelled with him as they'd approached the Lubruscan borders for battle - it'd be a grand opportunity for her to prove her skill. "No more then a brief amble," he cautioned, the second half of his instructions more attuned to her. "Oshim and Dis will both herd. Make sure nothing suddenly peels off at the sides. The journey's quick, but still be alert. I don't want to have to haul the lot of you to Ferus on my back." "Aspen, you are to immediately alert Jay of the Delta's passing. If he insists on further details, tell the truth - that it was a freak accident, but that I have the whole story. You may also make him aware of our success. May or may not soften the blow." He ended on a light note, dipping his muzzle towards the entirety of his party in a silent, friendly signal of thanks. "Best of luck, and good hunting to the lot of you." Frankly, the beauty of the Lubruscan territory had worn off. The lush vegetation they had herded the deer through was already damp, which made her pelt damp and uncomfortable. With her almost permanent scowl on her face and her ears flattened back, Aspen was already annoyed with the water everywhere. It was cold because of the breeze. It was wet because of the humidity. She didn't particularly enjoy the damp everywhere, so coming up to the familiar river was another con. That was full on water, not just dew. At least the deer were slowing down; she didn't want to have to sprint across the waters. Her short stature struggled slightly as she paddled across, but she managed to keep her nose above the water for the journey.
The drowned rat that crawled out of the river wore a potent frown. She really hated that they had to cross the stream to get back to Ferus, but with two wolves already dead and virtually no prey in Ferus, she doubted that Jay would like them to dilly dally taking time to go around the river. The alabaster bitch shook herself out fully, spraying water out in all directions. The herd stalled at last, turning their attention to grazing rather than running. With the small break the remaining wolves had been granted by the deer, Aspen stretched out each of her legs, allowing them to relax from their strenuous job.
"I don't know how much you may have seen," Flint's voice caught her attention. Her stocky frame moved closer to Flint, positioning herself beside him before laying down. Aspen will lead in my absence." Her singular eye flicked to the tawny male. She was to lead? Hmph. The feeling of his teeth on her ear twisted her stomach. The alabaster bitch flinched her head away, not enjoying the feeling in her stomach or on her ear. "No more then a brief amble. Oshim and Dis will both herd. Make sure nothing suddenly peels off at the sides. The journey's quick, but still be alert. I don't want to have to haul the lot of you to Ferus on my back," She dipped her head towards the Hunting Superior, not quite meeting his eyes with her own.
"Aspen, you are to immediately alert Jay of the Delta's passing. If he insists on further details, tell the truth - that it was a freak accident, but that I have the whole story. You may also make him aware of our success. May or may not soften the blow," Flint explained. Asshole! Placing the wrath of an Alpha square on her shoulders! Her grey eye narrowed at the tawny male, now getting the confidence to glare at him directly in the eye. She peeled her pearly lips back, flashing him a toothy growl. She was so going to rip his tail off once he got back. "Best of luck, and good hunting to the lot of you." Her superior took his leave. "But what about Xanthe?" She called out, but she got no response from the male. Great. Now she was alone, and in charge. "Alright. Take a short break so that we can all get our strength back, then we'll head home," Aspen directed. After a few minutes of laying on the ground, she hauled her frame up, gave a bark to startle the herd and alert the remaining wolves in what was now her hunting party, and began the remaining journey back to Ferus.

✗ Omega Kai ✗ "My biggest fear is that someday you will see me how I see myself."
Kai shook her head, scoffing between sentences. "They call me useless?" A bony shoulder jerked, pushing the limp body of Pandora back to it's previously secure position, where - in pace with her medium amble - slowly dropped to the side. "I could kick their ass." The Omega chuckled, finished sharing the story of her beef with the Lubrusca's Alphess, looking curiously at Flint. Not for his reaction - no, she could care less about that - but why she was talking. In fact, the two had clicked, dare she say, well over the nearing 12 hours of their journey. The tawny brute's sarcastic and witty remarks were simply a joy, a brilliant distraction from the fact that she'd effectively abandoned her own pack. No worries, they wouldn't miss her anyways. It was odd, was she supposed to loathe this male in the fashion Ventus did? Was she meant to attack? Surely not. Why did she accept the socialization between the both of them?
Lowering herself, the wispy lupine leaned to the side, gently dropping the corpse off her shoulders. Groaning in exaggerated relief, weight pressed into her hind legs, arching her back, stretching the tense muscles along her back. Looking back at her - was he really? - companion, she grinned before suddenly hitting the ground, flipping over so three legs were held upwards towards the sky, a single hind leg drooping awkwardly over her ivory form. Watching the darkening the sky briefly, she found herself not tired. But shouldn't she be, after a trek like that? Rolling slowly to the side, Kai fidgeted momentarily with her paws before standing again, pacing.

Although he admitted he didn't have the slightest idea of how their unexpected companionship would've turned within the course of the journey, he'd developed a drab, hazed idea. Short, casual small-talk accompanied by odd bits of banter, tediously dull talks of the sort. And yet, the small Lubruscan she-wolf appeared on a mission to disprove him once more - what a wonderfully biting wit she'd revealed over the twelve-hour trek, a sharp, fantastic sense of humor easing him from nagging Ferus worries or his own harshly overworked paws. Dare he say he enjoyed her company? Brilliantly clever, she'd happily slung her own retorts with relative ease, a perfect intellectual sparring partner he'd found himself lacking in Ferus. Initially beginning with a witty bit of banter, their conversation had gradually shifted to a topic far more fascinating in his eyes; the she-wolf's quick-witted sharpness narrating with bold, witty humor.
"They call me useless?" The harsh, angered hint to the tone drew his attention, the alabaster omega - now appropriately named Kai - huffing between pale blanched jaws. Curiously raising a rowan brow, he flitted his gaze in her direction, contemplating the current tensions of Lubrusca. The war had left the feeble, soft-hearted fools destitute, completely drained of pack's essential, principle roles. A single, living superior, pregnant with pups and no salutatory, accompanied by three broken, mangled omegas, a trio of terrified pups, and a midnight-black male bearing Slate's blood on his jaws. By all means, it should have separated completely, harshly crumpled beneath the burdens of war. Instead, with the wolves remaining, it had taken flight, soaring far beyond its original ranks - impressive, but incomprehensible. How did something beaten so horrifically beyond repair manage to mend its wounds?
"I could kick their ass." She chuckled softly, gently shifting a sanguine gaze towards his direction, glistening eyes gleaning with the same quiet sheen of wonder. It wasn't seeking approval, satisfaction from any flippant retorts he could have offered her, but rather, a possible answer. As much as he'd searched, he couldn't have offered her one in that moment, the answer just as much a mystery to him as her. Intermingling openly between their birth packs wasn't simply a sin - it violated nearly every principle the packs ever preached - Ferus with ferocity and self-reliance, Lubrusca with loyalty and obedience. And yet, she felt somehow - different. Not ditsy, not stupid in the way that he'd perceived her kind thus far, but fiercely attentive, with all the ferocious tenacity Ferus required. As she gently slipped her sorrel burden from battle scarred shoulders, rolling over for a brief sun-bath in light's few last rays, he followed suit, flipping in a brief attempt to see things from her perspective. Dusky paws dangling loosely above him, the brown, mottled brute was able to analyze with relative ease, relieved from his fiery-hued package. She was, by all means, a beautiful she-wolf, battle scarred by previous wars, her thick half-tail and limp hindleg aptly lined against a lean, thin layer of muscle beneath marble-white. 'Kick their ass', while at first, a joke, could be every bit her possibility nowadays. Despite initially drastic mutilation, she'd managed to make a miraculous recovery, a fully fledged three-legged fighter in her own right. Contrary to quenching, her wounds had only fueled her fire in hopes of regaining every scruffy thin scrap of strength - and perhaps, just perhaps - more then she'd previously possessed.
"You know, you..." he began, half-stretching, lazily savoring the sunset's gentle softness; the proper words muddled, warped a-top his tongue. "You are just absolutely fascinating." Rolling onto an oaken side, he watched her faintly departing form with a whimsy amusement, an alluring, intriguing appeal peaking his previous curiosities. "How did you do it? Aspen and I - the wounds that we gave were not meant to be recovered. I'm sure the only reason she didn't snap your neck was because she believed she'd be doing a kindness. Surprising Lubrusca's Alphess doesn't hold your higher regards. I know I certainly would, if a wolf of mine ever managed a miracle like that." Sharply, auburn-brown eyes bore into bleached ivory features, blazing with burning, spirited intrigue.
"I saw the battlegrounds. You, accompanied by a pair of pups, and two other omegas. No salutatory, no superiors, nothing that could have held even a slight advantage. Our ranks would've considered wolves like you broken far beyond any possible repair, and yet, somehow, you've defied all logical reasoning. Tell me, how do you do it? How do you defy all possible odds?"

✗ Omega Kai ✗ "My biggest fear is that someday you will see me how I see myself."
Ambling in prolonged ditzy loops around the now grounded Ferus male, hardened pawpads swiping over the lush grass of the pass. But, the beautiful territory would not stretch much longer. For the next few miles, the incomprehensible beauty of Lubrusca would soon drift away. The ground, now littered with the glorious colors of autumn, would transition into yellowed grass hardly hanging on to the quenched earth. Alas, this was a lengthy 12-20 hour walk away - depending on the speed of the duo, still taking into consideration the load they both bore on their backs.
Whispy auricles flittered in a hazed disappointment, registering the fact that their trek was potentially half over. Soon, the snowkissed bitch would have to make the lonesome walk back in solitude, mentally preparing for the punishment that would soon follow. No longer would she be accompanied by the fantastically witty male, instead her only company would be her own nagging mind. Pursing ebony tinted lips, the Lubruscan Omega peered over at her Ferus counterpart. The raven brute was in the process of rolling over into a similar position she previously possessed. Now briefly free from amber hues, an alabaster head tipped, investigating the form mere feet from her. Vertically challenged indeed, the Hunting Superior made up for what he lacked in height, in shape. Thin strips of shockingly powerful muscle snaked around wispy limbs, coated with oak and black fur. Up until this point, the lack of scars around his impressive form hardly fazed the snowy bitch. But, now with ample time to investigate the handsome male, it was almost amusing. Here she was, an Omega of the a pack that values kindness, covered in scars. Where this not-so-ruthless warrior sat ahead of her, perhaps only minimal scars visible. Perhaps the rest were covered by his sleek coat?
The muddled sounds of words brought berry hues snapping upwards, a sheepish grin dancing atop her features; she’d been looking a tad to long. "You know, you… You are just absolutely fascinating." His tone was comparable to a tired pup, rolled and muffled by his position and lack of energy. "How did you do it? Aspen and I - the wounds that we gave were not meant to be recovered. I'm sure the only reason she didn't snap your neck was because she believed she'd be doing a kindness. Surprising Lubrusca's Alphess doesn't hold your higher regards. I know I certainly would, if a wolf of mine ever managed a miracle like that." Suddenly, hellfire eyes shot into her. It was like being stuck in a spotlight. Though perfectly comfortable with his presence, Kai found herself fidgeting underneath such an intense- no, his gaze.
“Tell me, how do you do it? How do you defy all possible odds?"
Flicking a half flag slowly, the petite female fought desperately to drag together some sort of reply. Anything, literally anything would do. Opening her mouth to reply, she soon closed it again. Why? Why couldn’t she speak? Why were simple words stuck in her throat like bile? Swallowing, a cool composure was quickly regained. Her answer was on her tongue, tingling her lips and fur. It was simple, how could she have learned anything otherwise?
“I watched you.” Creepy much? “You guys- Ferus.” Correcting herself quickly - and unnecessarily - she continued. “Well, sort of.” Pulling brows into a soft frown, there was no hesitation in revealing the hatred and thoughts she held- no, previously held - for his kind. “I wanted revenge, ya’ know?” She smiled awkwardly, attempting to show through jumbled words that she indeed did not feel that way anymore. “So I figured, if I learned how you guys fought, you’d be predictable.” Chuckling in slight embarrassment, the foolishness of her past plan dawned on her.
Adjusting into a laying position, unnaturally bright eyes bore into Flint’s, her own inquiries rumbling within an ever churning mind. “I have a question… Why didn’t you just get rid of me? At the war, or the hunting grounds? Wouldn’t it have made everything simpler?” She paused, breaking eye contact to glance at the two bodies some 5 yards away from them. “I mean, if I hadn’t distracted you, those two could still be alive.” Looking back at him, only one thought rang through her mind now.
This was going to be a long night.

Perhaps he'd pried her apart too roughly, tugged at tender, loose threads she hadn't come to full terms with. A brief apology began to build on his tongue for the intrusively boldfaced inquiry; for any prying, apprehensive pushiness it might have held. It'd been intrusive, brashly meddling by all means, something that'd slice open past old wounds. Slowly, her snowy half-tail swayed as she desperately sought out some clever sort of response; something to sate any further troubling, fickle questions formulated in future hours. For the faintest, briefest moment, confusion flashed onto frosted pale features, a milk-white maw opening to elaborate a clear, adequate response before deciding to do otherwise. Maybe the memory itself was painful? To be virtually robbed of every family member, friend in your arsenal, your home, your own senses of self-autonomy, self-sufficiency would've practically wrecked any wolf. No matter how marvelously she'd recovered, how matter how vast her stores of strength, it had to have held some tiny semblance of pain. Looking back, they'd been callously, needlessly cruel - as if a mere omega could have possibly held a tangible advantage - mutilating her far beyond the battle-wounds necessary. It's been incessantly unfair from the very start, a tiny omega hardly the height of his shoulder pitted against two warriors trained since birth.
“I watched you. You guys - Ferus,” she began slowly, drawing ivory brows into a light frown. Oh, how well he knew the place where the wispy she-wolf's thoughts were turning, the true intentions behind her seemingly harmless, innocent observations. They - he'd robbed her of her entire lifespan, altered it to a terrible, drastically unfair difficulty. Desiring revenge was expected reasonable, even. The simple fact she hadn't seized the first opportunity to finally tear out his throat escaped all established previous traces of logic. "Well, sort of. I wanted revenge, ya'know? So I figured, if I learned how you guys fought, you’d be predictable." A soft, awkward smile gently slipped into a garnet pink gaze, laughing at the absolute sheer absurdity of her original plan. Silently, the she-wolf aptly slipped besides him in a laying position; long blanched limbs stretched loosely before her. Emboldened bright eyes bore into his own. They were incredibly bold, intensely blazing with their own personal wishes and wonders. Difficult to stare into for prolonged time periods - and yet, at once absolutely memorizing. He couldn't look away even if he'd desired to do so, transfixed within a wondrously strong, fierce stare.
“I have a question… Why didn’t you just get rid of me? At the war, or the hunting grounds? Wouldn’t it have made everything simpler?” She paused, shifting her gaze towards their two corpses, loosely stretched a few meager feet away. “I mean, if I hadn’t distracted you, those two could still be alive.” Her gaze had returned, with all its fiery intensity. What a wonderful question that he'd absolutely no answer to - at least, a logical one. Truth be told, he didn't have the slightest clue as to why they didn't bother killing her. Everything had played nearly perfectly leading up to that point, (aside from a lost eye), with the wispy, rail-thin warrior torn nearly limb to limb, losing both limb and tail to boot. It certainly wasn't that she had somehow managed to escape them - as far as he could recall, she had barely hauled her broken, thin build from where she'd fallen, limping heavily. Most definitely not some gentle show of mercy; not only did it defy their pack's core principles, but upon losing her left eye, he could safely confirm Aspen had wanted to kill her, to rip every remaining appendage from her body. Truthfully, he couldn't provide a complete answer. What could he possibly say? 'Actually, yes, Aspen had all intention of murder, but somehow managed to satisfy herself with taking the tail and limb,' wasn't appealing. On the other hand, the latter half of the question he knew fully. He'd found her intriguing, a tiny, war-torn wisp that'd somehow developed the dexterity, the audacity, to waltz towards the wolf that had destroyed her and insult him. She displayed ferocity and foolishness beyond all bounds of his imagination, and for that, he'd found her uniquely fascinating. Worth keeping around, at least for the fine entertainment factor.
"Don't blame yourself on behalf of those two," he began, shifting a golden auburn gaze towards the two fallen members of his party. "Pandora - the first that fell, the one that tripped -" he clarified, however unnecessary. "She was a fantastically good fighter, excelled in everything she ever accomplished. I had the privilege of fighting alongside her a few times in training - she had this fantastic, singular focus in combat - it's how she earned her rank, and rightfully so. I doubt you distracted her for a heartbeat. Wrong place, wrong time. That's all there was to it." He raised his sorrel head briefly, tilted it towards the other fallen member. "Xanthe, on the other hand, was different. I never spoke with her personally. She was... sad. With everything. She'd lost her love for Ferus and never regained it. I don't believe she battled, even, but when the war finished, she came back the way we knew her. Empty. It may be a bit of a stretch, but I believe she ran in the herd intentionally. Not to save Pandora, not to gain honor, glory, but to end her own suffering. This - her, right now - is the happiest I had the privilege of seeing her." He offered a soft, faint smile, something to hopefully lighten her mood. "Nothing you did, or could have done."
"I'm sorry to say I can't answer your question. I don't know why you weren't killed at the battleground, and I can't provide closure. So I'm sorry. All I know is the answer to the second - the Hunting Grounds." He shifted his gaze towards her, bright amber burning against blushing coral. "The shortest, simplest answer is that I found myself fascinated." A soft laugh slipped from sable jaws, a light amusement at the sudden recollection. "Picture it: a small, tiny she-wolf you've defeated in combat, barely the height of your shoulder calmly sidles up to you, stares you directly between the eyes, and call you shortstack. I wasn't all sure whether you were being incredibly brave or incredibly stupid, but either way, I wanted to see more of it." His tone softly trailed off as he observed her, recalling both previous battles. "I'm glad I did. Now, I know it's getting late, but I've one more of my own questions. I hope you don't mind," He added, his tone light, teasingly playful. "But why help? Your Alphess should've thrown a celebration at our deaths, and with all good reason. Why defy that? Why aid the wolf that wanted to rob you of everything?"

✗ Omega Kai ✗ "My biggest fear is that someday you will see me how I see myself."
He too seemed momentarily taken aback by her question, pulling a soft grin from pursed ebony lips. Ivory paws tingled, each nerve alight with an unknown sensation - one comparable to a fluttering glee. After her lengthy speech, sanguine hues fluttered sheepishly, as if expected a sudden swat to the ears - or what was left of them. In a snapping movement, a snowy cranium jerked to lick at the back of protruding shoulder blades. For whatever reason, it seemed all too difficult to sustain eye contact with such an… intriguing force. While still swivelling a single pale auricle toward Flint - while the other flitted in slight paranoia every which way -, the Omega remained in the same position, perhaps adjusting to the opposite side. Hushed coral optics closed briefly as the rumbling of the Hunting Superior’s drawl began, quickly escalating into a clear, sharp tone. But what was that twinge of emotion? Pitty? Regret? Whatever it was, the frostbitten bitch decided she wanted no part of it - thank you very much.
"Don't blame yourself on behalf of those two," Blushing orbs narrowed momentarily, flattening into a nearly deadened expression. One that simply read ‘How could I not?’. A soft snort of doubt was the only reply as hesitant motions led her back to meeting her ex-attacker to the face. But, even through her self-doubt, the onslaught of butterflies flitting within her abdomen never ceased. Quickly, he went on to Pandora. For a moment, she tensed, confused. Why would he treasure a wolf who specialized in killing? But, the forgotten fact slapped the brain as quickly as it left. He, was such. A killer, a perfectly trained warrior. For a split-second, she was hurt, lively hues dancing around his form: it was so fucking obvious! Each and every muscle in his body was toned to the peak of perfection, comparable to a well-oiled machine. For a moment, she wished to get up, to walk away. No, Kai couldn’t.. She wouldn’t. He, of all wolves that lingered within the confines of Ferus borders, was different. In a way that perhaps her packmembers couldn’t see, but was crystalline to Kai herself, but still unexplainable. Soon, he continued on to the misery of the second wolf, Xanthe. Glancing over to her bloodied form, the forgotten dweller of Lubrusca felt an odd, connection to the she-wolf. Living each day in an undying misery and hatred for one’s surrounds. It was, by all means, stripping of sanity. It took little time for Kai to make peace with the Hunter, as if white eyelids closed, the same picture would dance through her head. Running into a thundering herd of deer, but instead of a mottled pelt of browns and creams, it was shockingly white, tinted with crimson. But of all the times this scenario ran through the troubled wolf’s head, pain shot into her chest. The biggest picture within the entire disturbing scene was two hellfire eyes, perfectly perched upon a ebony form.
Snapping back to reality, the Omega held an even expression, the only visible emotion being curiousity. "I'm sorry to say I can't answer your question. I don't know why you weren't killed at the battleground, and I can't provide closure. So I'm sorry. All I know is the answer to the second - the Hunting Grounds." A single eyebrow rose, disgruntled mainly at the first section of his speech, but intrigued by the end. "The shortest, simplest answer is that I found myself fascinated." Ebony lips pursed, a pathetic attempt to stop a modest grin. Inaudibly, Kai heaved a sigh, shivering slightly - for a reason unknown to Kai herself. Fascinated. The word rolled uncomfortably within the depths of the war-torn canine’s mind, odd and sharp. "Picture it: a small, tiny she-wolf you've defeated in combat, barely the height of your shoulder calmly sidles up to you, stares you directly between the eyes, and call you shortstack. I wasn't all sure whether you were being incredibly brave or incredibly stupid, but either way, I wanted to see more of it. I'm glad I did.” And I. Chuckling softly, she shook her head, as if in disbelief. Just the thought wanted to make her laugh, she, she managed to capture someone's attention. How wonderful. It seemed, for only a few brief seconds, that he had ceased topics. Then they would be tossed into silence as they settled in for the night. But, how she longed to keep the conversation going, just until precise words turned muddled with the tone of sleep. Alas, the conversation continued, much to the petite female’s delight.
His question was just as interesting as the last, once again, she was silent. But, not out of loss of answer. Instead, the scarred wisp of a wolf fought back the sudden word vomit that lurked oh so dangerously near. “Well, for one thing: My Alphess is a complete and utter ass. One who’s lost all sense.” Suddenly, her voice was filled with hatred and contempt, hackles bristling with previously unknown hostility. “Why would I follow the directions of a leader who made an infant Delta?” Instead of the usual melodic chuckle that followed the miniature canine, a bark of laughter left wrinkled jaws. But, as soon as the ferocity entered the packwolf, it left. “But..” Coral hues danced with amusement, snapping moods as per usual. “I suppose I helped you because,” Kai grinned softly, a whimsy flickering of her tail accompanying her words. “I wouldn’t pass on seeing you some more.” A singular brow lifted, investigating eyes Kai couldn’t help but compare to the falling leaves of Autumn. Curling lips into a slick grin, her tone was.. Odd, to say the least. She wouldn’t bother continuing the conversation with a prompt on her own, as her last prompt would function perfectly to intrigue the male on it’s own.
@flint I apologize, this is one month overdue.
