Catching movement out of the corner of her eye, Raven lifted her head to see the older she-wolf walking away. Just before she departed, the large wolf glanced over her shoulder and offered Raven a smug smirk. The dark wolf gritted her teeth but restrained herself. The bitch was leaving and that’s what mattered. As much as she hated leaving her with the last laugh, she knew who would be laughing if they ever ran into each other again. Besides, what did she have to be smug about? Raven had won their little dispute. In the end, she had been the one who listened to her threat and ran off. Who had the last laugh now?
"You know what?” Raven perked up at the sound of a familiar voice filled with an unfamiliar emotion, “Forget anything I said! I was only trying to diffuse the tension! If you come back here and start things again, you'll be facing off against me!"
It was CloudSpiral. And he was angry. Raven kept looking between him and the departing wolf, wondering what she could have said or done to make him so angry. Up until now, she didn’t even know the male possessed the capability of being angry.
Once the she-wolf was out of sight, Raven lay her head back down, losing interest. She and swatted at a fish absentmindedly as it swam by, once again caught up in her thoughts. ‘What could have possibly set him off?’ she wondered curiously. She genuinely had no clue. At least he was siding with her now, though. Even if he wasn’t when it really mattered, it saved her the trouble of having to explain herself when the time came.
Her ears perked up again when she heard CloudSpiral trotting towards her, but she didn’t move otherwise. She watched him in her peripheral vision, eyes remaining focused on the water before her.
"Raven…” he began. She continued to stare at the water in front of her. She knew what was coming, she could tell in the sound of his voice. All she had to do was listen. "I'm sorry. I should've just spoken for myself. I was out of line." He sat down beside her with a sigh, "My father always taught me to make peace and avoid confrontation, but I only made things worse. I understand if you don't want to speak to me. I was wrong to speak in your place."

Raven stayed silent for a moment. 'What kind of a philosophy is that?' She was still salty about what happened, but more so at the mystery wolf than CloudSpiral. She definitely wasn’t happy about him disregarding her though, but she could understand why he did it. It wasn’t the method she would have chosen, but to each their own. She wasn’t about to change her ways to match though. Not by a long shot.
“It’s fine,” Raven forced herself to say, if just to avoid the risk of sending CloudSpiral away; she needed him right now, “I guess I just got worked up because of the new wolf.” She wouldn’t admit that she had successfully snuck up on and scared her while her back was turned, nor would she take claims to any of it being her fault. She let out a huff from her nose, sending out ripples in the water. She finally lifted her head and looked at CloudSpiral, ready to change the subject.
She was about to question him on his little outburst when she saw Sage approaching them. "So guys, I am sorry to say, but I will be leaving the Rocklands and moving to a different place," the smaller wolf announced, "I hope you had an alright time with me, because I know for sure I loved hanging out with both of you.”
And with that she bolted off, leaving Raven in a state of confusion. Where was she going? Why was she leaving instead of going with them? She would be safer with more numbers, and no doubt CloudSpiral would be more than willing to escort her wherever it was she wanted to go. There was no telling what other predators roamed these lands; traveling alone made an attack much more likely to occur.
And why was she trying to make it such a heartfelt goodbye? They had known each other for less than a day. All she knew about Sage was her name, and that was hardly enough knowledge to get attached to a person. But most importantly, why had she run off so quickly? If she really wanted it to be a heartfelt goodbye, she should leave time for the other party to pay their respects as well. There was absolutely no logical reason why she should hurry away.
Despite all these questions and inconsistencies, Raven didn’t protest and simply watched Sage run off. However, her confusion quickly turned to anger when she noticed that the she-wolf was heading in the same direction of the mystery wolf from before. Was she following after her? Was that way she was leaving? To join that stubborn mule? She felt anger boil up inside of her. She rose to her feet, but Sage was already too far ahead and moving quickly; there was no way she would catch up to her. Raven simply paced back and forth angrily. She knew there was nothing she could do about it, which only served to make her angrier.
'The little traitor. I knew there was something off about her from the beginning.'
((OOC: I see Sage got tired of being the third wheel XD))
