The journey had bid him and his companions well, sparing them all the agonies wandering in winter tended to yield. Each of the eight or so coastline strangers could no longer consider themselves such, all well acquainted by now — and for all the better! Such were the joys of new company. He’d invested fully in the task of memorizing eight faces, names, quirks. There was Tenzin, the blind yearling who conducted himself with quiet wisdom, never meddling, bothersome, malicious, but forever keen to help where he could. Astro took keen pleasure in describing their travels, recapping every detail, from how the sun gently shimmered against snow to how ice coated the cusp of his whiskers. Perhaps this had annoyed Hai some, the she-wolf that always ensured Tenzin had a dependable shoulder to lean on, but she hadn’t given him worry. Noone and Spirit walked together, savoring the familiarity of each other’s presence, although with time, the two learned to converse with the other six wolves as passionately as they did each other. Feverfew and Lexavein had been stragglers, lingering on the outskirts, but he’d snatched up snippets of information. And of course, Kebechet and Corvidae always managed to keep the entire lot in good spirits. Lastly, there were his closest friends: Knox and Astoria. Knox and him had taken amiable turns in leading the group, as strange as it felt for the two to be leading. Occasionally, when the group found a spot to settle down for the night, the pair would depart on a brief adventure of their own, a special three hour thrill reserved for them and them alone. These swift detours soon became the loveliest parts of each day, the parts he’d passionately yearn for midafternoon, but in the chance event the two couldn’t go on theirs, Astoria was always there to fill in any gaps. She was lovely, every bit as lovely as he’d imagined her to be, remarkably smart and delightfully witty. She was sensationally funny, but reserved banter for close friends. As time progressed, he’d found himself fortunate enough to remain on her list. Even now, as they entered the valley; he kept her in close sights, entertaining a joke he’d been crafting an hour or so. “It seems we have made it.” Tenzin mused, tenderly sniffing the still valley air as he approached his side curiously. “How does it look as a potential den to keep us for the brunt of this cold?" “There’s a cave just beyond here. Well, technically a passageway,” Astro mused, thoughtfully shifting paw to paw. “Should be big enough to store the lot of us, if you don’t mind being a bit cuddly. Not that you’d mind, eh Astoria?” He teased, unable to resist a playful quip. “It’ll be warm enough to heat you right back up Ten, don’t you worry. Knox!” He yipped, tossing his head over his shoulder. “Everyone holding up alright? No bumps or bites hopefully?” Peppily, regardless of Knox’s response, he padded his way around the group, encircling them twice just to be safe. “Alright everyone,” he began, once he was satisfied with the survey. “We can all hold up cozy in the cave till spring. It’ll be a bit tight, with the eight of us, but we’re all friends here. We’ll just be getting a bit friendlier!” He quipped, unable to conceal a soft, playful smile. Languidly, he lifted a bright auburn paw to point out the cave’s direction, trotting eagerly towards it. “It’s time you all enjoyed the best sleep you’ve gotten since we first left the coastline.” Yawning, he lowered his haunches, happily waiting at the mouth of the cave. “Nothing will ever hurt us here!” Tagged: Apprentice Corvidae @feverfew @kaira @knox Nooné Spirit @tenzin OOC: I am a major dumbass and initially posted in the wrong thread. By now, Feverfew had relaxed almost entirely around these wolves, taking a positive view on the world for once. She'd forgotten about being cautious and was now focused on how they could make the winter work. Food would be a problem but, then again, when wasn't it? But there were birds, lizards if they got really desperate. Ideally the group (and the even smaller group of which were able to hunt) would be enough to drive larger prey into the valley to be eaten. That might be too hopeful, though. Feverfew would just have to wait and see. "It's good." Feverfew nodded. "-Great, even." She was bold enough to give her tail a slight wag. Her ears were pushed forward--not aggressively, but happy and perhaps even a little excited. The idea of sleep was incredibly comforting, but there were many things to be done still. Getting to the cave was just a part of the job. There was checking the area for other wolves or general threats, getting food for the first time... that sort of thing. Feverfew didn't really know about that kind of thing, she was never really the leader type. Apprentice Corvidae @astro @hai @kaira @knox Nooné Spirit @tenzin

Hai stretched out her back, happy now that there was somewhere to rest. She waited for Astro to enter the den and then led Tenzin inside, laying against the floor. It was shockingly cold, colder than the outside they were just standing in. Astro's word echoed in her head, More of a passageway but to what? Her mind became scrambled as she searched for a particular answer, her ears shooting up and she glanced behind her, the tunnel led into darkness, no indication of an end. Straining her eyes, she could see the the dark tunnel twisted into an area out of sight. Her brain tired, and she sat her head back down on her paws. The long journey had left her mind no rest, and it's constant observant use to keep Tenzin safe summoned a headache that pulsed through her brain. Her sunglow eyes opened and closed sleepily, but no sleep came to her. Her limbs ached, but as restless as ever, she forced her body back up and padded to Astro, "What need to be done?" she asked. Tenzin's keen ears caught the part of his words that pointed out this cave was a passageway, which meant there was a way out on the other side of it. How deep it was he would never know unless he tried to trudge through it, but he hoped there wasn't anything else snuggling inside it for warmth as well. Something like a bear, for instance. But the difference in the air was noticeable, and somehow cozy and inviting, and his aching paws urged him to just curl up and go to sleep. Tangerine ears flicked this way and that as he heard the rest of the group gathering around and entering the cave at Astro's encouragement. He seemed in higher spirits since their journey, having spoken to the rest of the wolves and gotten to know them each a little better. Tenzin himself had even spoken a bit more to Knox, the friend of Astro, Feverfew, the shy newcomer, and Astro himself, an assuming wolf who didn't ask for the task of alpha or leader of the group but assumed it with dignity when he saw the others were looking to him for direction. He was a good man, Tenzin could tell, and he hoped the young man continued to grow along this gentle path. He wanted to meditate with him sometime. After it was confirmed everyone had made it unharmed, they started filing into the mouth of the cave, going in but not too deep as to disturb anything that may be hibernating deep within. Tenzin stopped at the opening where he smelled Astro, relaxed and tired like the rest of them and ready for a dog pile sleepover. He dipped his head towards him and offered a smile. "Good work, thank you for your guidance. I see a lot of potential in you to do a lot of good. If you would like to join me in meditation sometime, just let me know." With that, he slunk into the cave with Hai at his side for the time being, getting cozy on the edge of the grouping and curling up with a big yawn. He didn't realize he was so tired. His legs were sore, his mind was exhausted. He was ready to sleep. Within a few minutes, he was quickly drifting off into another reality, unaware of Hai getting back up to find Astro and offer her services. @hai @astro @knox @feverfew @kebechet @lexavein Spirit Nooné Astoria

Paws carefully padded over the rocky terrain, as Spirit followed the lead of the large group of wolves. She wasn't sure how this would turn out. The group had been growing by every second, and the young one found herself drowned in a sea of new names. It would probably take her some time to match the new faces to the names. Young innocence had always made the alabaster teen belief in the goodness of this world. Perhaps she was just maturing quickly, given all her recent past events. Spirit found herself starting to doubt things, her gullible trust giving away to some suspicion. Maybe she shouldn't just had followed a huge group of grown-ups she just met. Something told Spirit that this might be a trick of some sort - maybe Nooné and her had fallen into a trap. The wolves surrounding them probably had a really thought-out plan of kidnapping them. But they all seemed nice and friendly. Her gut feeling told her to follow them, and so the Arctic Wolf did so. All she could do was just hope that she had made the right choice. Out of the many doubts she had, the one thing she didn't doubt was Nooné's heart. There was something about him that told her she could trust and rely on him. Perhaps it was just because she spent the longest time with him, even had a mini playtime in the 'sand', as she now knew it as. The alabaster wolf stuck close to the older male, just in case, they needed to make a run for anything. The narrow pathway led to an enormous valley - Spirit couldn't see the end of it. The half-year-old gazed up in awe, at the tall, magnificent cliffs on both sides. They made it. They had managed to escape before the storm hit. She was quickly aware of the change from the uneven rocky ground, to icy, stinging snow. As she continued to trail behind the others, she felt the strands of soft grass tickling her legs. She gave a little chuckle, tail wagging from side to side as she walked. The soothing sound of the lapping waves were way behind her, replaced by the gentle whisper of the slightest wind. It was freezing, winter was already here. Although it was freezing, Spirit was already used to the harsh, coldness of winter. An opening at one of the cliffs made the group stop. "It seems we have made it. How does it look as a potential den to keep us for the brunt of this cold?" Tenzin announced, directing his question to Astro who seemed to be the leader. “Should be big enough to store the lot of us, if you don’t mind being a bit cuddly..." the russet leader replied. “We can all hold up cozy in the cave till spring. It’ll be a bit tight, with the eight of us, but we’re all friends here. We’ll just be getting a bit friendlier!” “I’m going to be delivering some bumps and bites if we don’t get inside!” At Kebechet's light-hearted words, Spirit the cave without any hesitation, half-afraid that Chet might be for real. Yikes. I don't want bumps and bites. It seemed that everyone was going to get some sleep. Spirit lay down next to Nooné, exhausted. It had been a long day, with so many bizarre events. The disappearance of the two wolves, the new group she had suddenly became a member of, the snow storm, winter's arrival. Things were happening so fast. The teenager gave a little yawn. Yeah, perhaps some rest would do. She curled herself up in a cozy ball, pushing herself up against the Iberian in a comfortable position. Eyelids sliding shut, she drifted off into a long-deserved sleep. @hai @astro @knox @feverfew @kebechet Nooné Astoria @tenzin @kaira Apprentice Corvidae @lexavein @everyoneelseimissed

Nooné had been along the group for some time now. The young Iberian had gotten used to their presence, scent and personalities already, actually managing not to stutter his sentences now. Being in a group with so many others was in on itself a great change of pace for the young male, let alone the fact that all of these wolves respected and cared for each other. Needless to say, he felt rightfully at home again. Two of the half-breeds, Knox and Astro, apparently had the lead of the group, position none of them had asked nor wanted but the both of them came to accept after a while. Throughout the days, they walked and hunted, mostly small prey around the valley's area, they'd then search for a warm spot to rest during the night and the cycle would reset. As days went by, the whole group grew closer together, Chet and Knox seemed to get increasingly well, as Astro and Astoria did, too. Lex and Feverfew, though quite shy at first, started to slowly integrate themselves into the large group as well. The relationship he had with Spirit hadn't changed much, despite the sudden burst of members that their little duo had. The still-not-yearling stuck to him like two peas in a pod, which Nooné did not mind in the slightest. “It seems we have made it.”, said the blind wolf that had the idea to move out of the coastline in the first place, Tenzin. A relatively big passageway, according to Astro, apparently big enough at least to warm us all. “We can all hold up cozy in the cave till spring. It’ll be a bit tight, with the eight of us, but we’re all friends here. We’ll just be getting a bit friendlier! It’s time you all enjoyed the best sleep you’ve gotten since we first left the coastline. Nothing will ever hurt us here!”.Astro had a way with words, maybe that's why everyone saw him as the leader he had somewhat become over their course. With a reassurant and happy-go-lucky tone, the reddish mixed wolf went to sleep. Indeed, it had been a hard day, and everyone should follow suit. Spirit certainly did so, as she curled herself up in a ball against himself. Not being able to contain a chuckle, the Iberian decided it was time for some shut-eye. With a Goodnight, everybody!, the male drifted into unconciousness.

Ξεχασμένος agressed a cavernlike tunnel. Her gargantuan mitts cuffed the new terrain, finally setting foot upon grass and flowers. "Hmph, I hoped I'd end up somewhere more traplike. When I was still in the Βορειοδυτικός Φυλή, I used to capture coyotes and foxes in the mud and wet soil, not plains that offer nothing as a net, " the Brobdingnagian lupine blethered to herself. Her ethnicity had shown via her accent and the names of her pack's events and titles. Her expression varied with nearly each word of her speech unnaturally. Her gesticulations were incredibly fluid, unlike any creature but her ancient, supposedly long-dead Δικτάτορας. Her attention was turned toward her hunger. She had forgotten just how starved she was during her trek. With a pivot of her vertex, the rustle of a small valley creature resonated within her auditory canals. "Υβρίδιο must be having a good day," she murmured, speaking of the deity she and her Βορειοδυτικός Folk worshipped. With a strike of luck, Ξεχασμένος pinned a rabbit to the soft terra firma, afterward hastily tearing into the creature. Sanguine coated her maw, causing her appearance to be even more sinister. The ease of the catch surprised her- this was the first of any valley or plains kills she had successfully ended during her entire, yet young, lifespan. "Thank you," she warmly smiled. The expression was hauntingly beautiful- haunting in that the beast only smiled if she had committed something comparable to the horrors her deity had committed in its day, though this wasn't the case this time. She was sincerely grateful, something nearly unheard of for the wicked beast Ξεχασμένος.

Consciousness returned slowly, ebbing in and out, threatening to leave for another hour or two. His senses trickled back to him, his hearing first, rust-colored ears twitching then swiveling to the sound of a catch being made off in the plains. Tenzin took a deep breath in a long yawn, his limbs stretching as far as they could before relaxing once more. Once again, he went to open his eyes, only to remember that he wouldn't be able to see anything if he did. He supposed that even after all this time he would still wake up occasionally and forget, just for a second, that he could not take in his surroundings. Never again would he be able to see rocky mountains stretching into the sky, or the colorful flowers that filled fields as far as the eye can see. He would not be able to see the changing colors of the sky, or even really know what his friends looked like. If he ever mated, he wouldn't know what is mate looked like, either. He didn't care about appearances, but it would be nice to know what color pelts surrounded him. Did any of the others look like he did? What if they were all such different hues that he would be in awe if, for just one day, he could see again? Some could be huge and large, and some could be as small and scraggly as he looked. Did their fur feel as woolly as he did, or was it course and wiry? Was it thick and soft? He could always ask to feel, but that was just strange to ask of some acquaintances he had met not long ago. He got to his feet slowly, ears moving to focus in on every noise nature made, scanning for any potential danger or ally. He could tell by the smell of the air that it was pretty early in the morning, the sun just making its appearance over the horizon. The perfect time for meditation. His stomach grumbled quietly, but he was easily able to push the thought away. With his family, they would often fast for days to meditate and steel their resolve to let go of earthly desires and temptations. It was difficult, but it really helped him prepare for being on his own and unable to hunt proper meat for himself. He made his way out, head low to the ground to try and can the terrain and make a mental map of his new surroundings. He bumped into a rock or two and almost ran right into a cliff wall, but eventually he found a way to get up onto the craggy outcroppings and pick a spot on the peak of a hill and sat, grounding himself to the earth. He took a deep breath, then let it go, starting his morning meditation. He didn't know if anyone was up already or what they were doing, besides the one nearby who had just caught something to eat moments ago, whose smell he did not recognize completely. Oh, well. They didn't seem to be paying him much attention. The sun felt nice on his face. A perfect morning for a meditation. @astro @xechasmenos Nooné Spirit @lexavein @feverfew @knox

ROGUE KNOX
Knox flicked an ear as Kebechet allowed him to lay down next to her. Moving next to her he fell quickly asleep. His own black head stretched out against her side as he snored lightly. His leg would kick out occasionally, dreams of running through his head.
Eventually a noise of scuffling paws was heard. Hours had passed by now and morning light creaking into the entrance. He spotted Tenzin making his way outside, but the sounds soon stopped. He was probably up for a morning break or something. Huffing, knox tried to go back to sleep but to no avail. Sighing, he puffed his black cheeks as he got up to join Tenzin. Stepping outside, he moved to tap his fellow wolf on the shoulder.
“It’s Knox,” he would say, unsure if Tenzin already knew how to tell each of them apart or not. “What do you think of this area?” as he asked that, skitting on the hill nearby, sending small pebbles cascading down was a hare. Well, there was food, but just how much would there be?
The two talked for awhile before they moved off either to join others or going their separate ways for that day. But this routine continued on for a while.
Timeskip 1 month
Knox lay stretched outfront, cooling off from the inside. It was nice to have a warm area where most of the wolves hung out but there was one downside. With so many bodies the room quickly felt hot and stifling for the darkened wolf-dog. Laying outside was the easiest way to get cool, and sometimes being in the entryway was almost the perfect temperature.
Over this last month they have all grown quite close as a group. They were still individuals, rogues, and he was sure that some would leave eventually. His own mind wondered on what this group was becoming but feared that if he brought that into light or pushed for something they would fall apart, so he kept his questions unanswered.
He vaguely wondered what the others were doing right now but didn’t want to venture into the overheated room to find them. And he wasn’t too confident venturing into the cold alone without knowing where to go.
@astro Astoria @tenzin @kebechet Spirit Nooné @hai Flint/Astro said they planned to do a month long timeskip and gave permission that I could implement in this post.

Kaira followed the saying any word, she didn't felt like to and even less being around those she didn't trust in. Those that even after allowing her to come, still, didn't seem trustworthy for her. It wasn't her fault after seasons of hostility and harm, and the scars that decorated a good extension of her body were the proof of that. And as she walked, her golden eyes looked around, filled with distrusts and concern, trying her best to remain far from them, not wanting to be in the risk of an attack. So with a mere sight coming from her maw, she would sit down under a small tree, feeling how the coldness warped her body. Thankfully the tundra heritage gave her some good protection toward the freezing winds that blew all over the place. Now in a more comfortable place and distance, she observed the rest of the wolves who came with her to a place she did go before. Nooné Spirit @tenzin @feverfew @everyoneelse

Timeskip 1 month:The Arctic was now nearing one year in age, no longer the little half-year-old. Ever since the arrival winter, Spirit felt the playfulness of a pup's fading from her, in its place was an ever-growing sense of maturity. Along with maturity, came caution and doubts. Spirit had came to learn that the whole world wasn't just about fancy butterflies and rainbows, and that anything bad could happen too. Much to her relief, nothing has happened so far. No ambushes. No casualties. Spirit was half-expecting the group to turn on her - maybe they would suddenly reveal their true intentions and kidnap her. However, the group had remained as friendly as ever. As Winter drew on, the young one no longer had doubts about the new group she was part of. In fact, she had grown a little closer to the others, although she still stuck close to Nooné. She trusted her longest companion the most, given that they met each other earlier before joining the group. As her eyelids slid open, the blurry image of a tawny male next to her slowly came into focus. Nooné. Stretching her legs, Spirit pushed herself up into an upright sitting position. Silver eyes watched as the others slept soundly, snoozing away in the early morning hours. It was peaceful, another lovely morning. Having gotten up earlier than most of the others, the youngest among all decided to make her way out of the cozy cave, careful not to accidentally step on anyone's tails. Greeted by the chilly winds, Spirit let a soft smile spread across her face. As she ventured out a little, the cold stinging from beneath her, she brushed past a fluffy figure by accident. Taking a paw back in alarm, Spirit let out an apologetic mumble: "I'm-I'm so sorry." There lay Knox, away from the others who snuggled up inside the cave. "Whatcha doing out here in the cold?"Some distance away, Spirit spotted a wolf sitting on her haunches just right beneath a tree. While the figure was unrecognisable from a distance, Spirit was certain that she was part of their group too by scent. "Good morning!" Spirit called out to her cheerily. Feverfew, by now, had dispelled the majority of her worries about the stranger wolves. Perhaps because they were no longer so much strangers. She was one of the furthest back in the cave, though she darent go too far. As far as she knew, the cave was an endless labyrinth—although the likelihood was that, while it was still a labyrinth, it certainly had an end. Either way, Feverfew didn’t feel like shedding her comfort so soon. Trying to make the most of living in a group, Feverfew attempted to sleep in. Old habits die hard, though. And she soon found herself restless—quite the opposite of what she was going for, really. She gave in quickly and left the den, treading lightly as to not stir the others. She was just beginning to learn the faces and sounds of each individual—though certainly wasn’t quite there yet.
Sticking her muzzle out into the fresh, morning air the restlessness within melted away. Morning hadn’t always been Feverfew’s favourite time of the day, but since living within the relatively stable community of wolves waking up was no longer something to be dreaded. She no longer had to look at each day like it was just a necessity to drag herself through, she actually wanted to get through it. Feverfew shook out her dark fur, letting her paws adjust to the usual snow before making her way into the lands.
Just as she was beginning to recognise each wolf’s face, Feverfew had begun to recognise the land surrounding their cave. Prey was... scarce. But that could be worked around. With more wolves, larger prey was no longer so much an issue to obtain. There were very few downsides to having other wolves around. Sure, the occasional scrap over space and the extra stomachs to fill, but something that could be worked around relatively easily. Overall, Feverfew was finally positive about the future—something she hadn’t even been as a pup. She was incredibly lucky, and she didn’t forget it.

In these new lands, Aenemys had seemed to settle in fine. Currently, her body settled comfortably into a groove in the ground, curled up so her body heat stayed radiating within the confines of her own limbs. Others had begun to stir, and the noise of cheery good-mornings and rising wolves brought her out of deep sleep, but Aenemys' dream was simply too good to depart from quite yet, and she stayed in a half-awake, half-asleep state, her dream rolling around in her mind, slowly losing opacity as she begun to wake more. It seemed, however, that she would not remain undisturbed for much longer. As the female lay there in a white mass of fur, she felt a sharp strike on her shoulder and back, the slight pain awakening her completely, and a thud resounds on the ground next to her. With striking blue eyes now open, the female gives a kind of irritated but also confused look at the wolf that cut off her dream. A wolf multiple shades of brown, who she believed went by the name of 'Nooné' was on the ground next to her. With a small sigh, Aenemys supposed it was time she woke up, and rose to her feet, shaking any dirt off her coat, careful not to get it onto the male. "Well, I suppose that's my wakeup call," she says jokingly. "Are you okay?" She looks down at him with a furrowed brow now, hoping she hadn't already made a bad first impression or that he had hurt himself. Time skip: One month A month had passed, and the group had already stablished itself, not officially, they were not a pack just yet. Just a pretty big group of fellows who got along surprisingly well. Some had already left, other would probably follow, that's what Nooné thought at least. The Iberian was comfortably snoozing on their cozy cave, a pretty warm place that would heat up a lot during the high noon. Dark dreams surfed through the males head, making him whine softly on his slumber, until he finally woke up at the sound of voices coming from outside. Scared and confused, Nooné recoiled, making one step too far away, triping with something and falling head first into the warm floor. Fuzzy vision cleared up to reveal Aenemys, with a somewhat annoyed expression on her face. "Well, I suppose that's my wakeup call", said the female, changing her expression to a amused one, "Are you okay?". Picking himself back up, grunting a tad, the male answered. "Sorry for waking you up Nemys, didn't see you there. I'm fine, just a scratch and a bad dream, nothing that bad". Aenemys was pretty taller than him, completely white, with ice-colored eyes and goddamn gorgeous all around. The first days of convivence, her sole presence had managed to make the male nervous, not exactly a difficult thing to do, but it did freak Nooné out for a bit. Though, once used to her, the young male was able to find a valuable friend in the white wolf. "I was planning on heading out, maybe get some food, wanna come?" Aenemys

Ξεχασμένος, having devoured the entirety of the small organism recently, turned her short attention toward the distinct scent of another lupine. Her acoustics perked cautiously- despite fear being nonexistant in that span of time. Her audaciousness obvious in that moment, she began to oscillate herself alacritously toward the new, wonted canis lupus. When in a relative vicinity, she belittled him within her twisted neurological, noticing his ways of interacting with the terrain surrounding him.
"Blind," she aspersed with a fleet chuckle, quietly.
She noted his much smaller physique, compared to her elephantine size. Her haunting, gray pupils and tiger irises glared intently at the smaller virile, mitts alternating being upon the grassy firma. The monumental lupus descried him for a fugacious amount of time before she approached the canidae with clear audacity and nerve. Her vertex was held at a higher altitude than the natural, standard angle. She cleared her throat before shouting to frighten the masculine before her Herculean framess.
"Hey!" she shouted, her thick, heavy Greek accent distinguishing her from any other lupine of the land. "Having trouble?" she derided stentoriously.
