Insert Time SkipThe harshness of winter gave way seamlessly to something gentler. The friendships they’d forged at the coastline were never made to last. A critical part of every story was the ending, and they’d reached theirs. One by one, the wolves that gathered slipped away in search of something better, something poignant, something complete. Some believed that pack lives would placate them: the structure, routine, the constantly turning cogs of a story beyond their own. Oh, there was definite beauty to be found in lives like that, but nothing that could ever convince him to give up this one. Pack wolves viewed his odd heritage as problematic, something to be torn apart and amended as they saw fit, and even if he’d willed it, he’d never quite fit their molds. Still, he respected the choice they had in doing so, and bid them nothing but the best. Others left for new friendships, painstakingly forged at the valley’s cusp with some of the many strangers that came and went. They, quite frankly, had found their perfect match. How could he bid any ill to that? And others had gone in search of adventures — ones beyond the scope of the valley brush. He sympathized. No true adventurer could be completely sated, not truly, and there was far more life out there to be held then he’d thought possible. Knox and Kebechet had both left for similar reasons. The two had grown happily close, and sought a life together. Astro bid them both nothing but joy. There was something incredibly charming in watching two friends fall in love. At least, that’s what he was certain it was. All the telltale signs were there — the shy, bashful smiles, longing looks, gentle, heartfelt gestures. He treated her tenderly, preciously, and she gave all the affections one wolf could bear. They’d gone from seeking out ceaseless thrills to seeking out each other and finding all the same delights in such. Kebechet, with her lighthearted humor, had found a wolf with the same playful sense of fun. He absolutely loved it. Could it have been more perfect? The passage from amiable friendship to something beyond was buoyantly slow, but entirely worth the wait. Still, eventually the two wanted their own space and privacy, and bid them farewell. Astoria and him watched them leave with bittersweet contentment. It was always lovely watching a happy ending, but there was a small, intangible sorrow to it. Still, at the end of the day, he knew his first true friend was happy — wasn’t that all that mattered? And besides, he’d found his own happy ending to boot. All those silly tell-tale signs took shape between him and the sweet, funny she-wolf he’d grown to know and love. They’d many an adventure of their own these past months, and begun crafting the chapter to a story of their own. Somehow, she had grown all the more lovely to him with each passing day — he only hoped she felt the same. And, by some brilliant miracle, she had. Their confession had been a simple exchange, something loving and intimate. The night sky had been at its most brilliant that evening, stocked with every constellation he could possibly recall. Tales were told and exchanged, laughter eternally loomed over the discussion, and starlight danced within her gaze. A shooting star passed. She had told him to make a wish. He wished that she would love him forever. She smiled, seeming wonderfully, marvelously pleased, and that’d been the end of it. They hadn’t quite assigned a label to it — love fit well enough. For now, they were content to roll with the punches, seeing what loveliness life would bring. Already, he was certain that she was concealing a happy secret — and while he was certain he knew what it was, he’d let her reveal it in her own time. “Morning love,” He began sleepily, nuzzling the top of his head against her. “I’ve missed you so. Did you have any good dreams?” Astoria

Nooné followed his companion through the valleys, figuring they were headed to the sort of common grounds their little group had. Of course, it was nothing official, but it worked out for everybody just fine. “So, not to get too deep or anything on our morning stroll, ”the male heard Aenemys say by his side, making his head turn to the source of the sound in attention. “What do you think will happen to this rogue group?” she asked, evidently seeking for an honest and concise response. The Iberian didn't speak right away, taking the time to think his answer through and through. "I don't really know for sure, Nemys," he said, still trying to find a precise reply. "Never had been at a group before, but honestly it feels temporary. I don't know, call it a gut feeling," he added. "Maybe it's just the fact that I haven't really been with other wolves that long," the brown young adult said, finishing his response."I don't wanna stop seeing you, though. You are smart, funny, prett-uhhh-" Nooné realized the compliments had just escaped out of his mouth, as if they were prisoners finally managing to make it out of their cells. Blushing as he tried to silence them out, the male just looked at the female, embarrassed. Timeskip:Time had passed, and the group of friends slowly disbanded, each happily going on their own paths. Amongst them, Knox and Kebechet, whom after the claring their mutual love decided to embark on their improvised "honeymoon", or so to speak. Yawning after a good night of sleep, Nooné woke up to the warmth of the sunshine that bathed his entire body in light. Aenemys

Aenemys' eyes lingered on Noone's face while she awaited his answer, her steps beginning to synchronize with his. "I don't really know for sure, Nemys. Never had been at a group before, but honestly it feels temporary. I don't know, call it a gut feeling. Maybe it's just the fact that I haven't really been with other wolves that long," he says. Aenemys slowly turns her head to look ahead and nods slowly in an understanding, a small sad feeling spilling into her mind as she wondered if she would be another example of that. "I don't wanna stop seeing you, though." His new words snap her back to attention, lulling her mind out of the temporary sadness it had entered. She is slightly surprised but a giddy happiness invades her space at the fact that her feelings were not one-sided, that he wants her to be someone he actually stays with. For some reason, it is satisfying. "You are smart, funny, pritt-uhh," he cuts off and a wide and un-preventable smile grows on Aenemys' face as she sees his blush and his vulnerability around her. "I've never stayed with anyone for long, either. But I want you to be a wolf who changes that. Sorry, that's really cheesy... I just mean that I want you to stay," she says, her smile feeling so involuntary that she looks away from his face so it does not spread even more. A fondness for this moment grew in her chest, butterflies fluttering about in her ribcage as they continued on. || Time Skip ||The early bird in Aenemys had caused her to wake up especially early this morning, though she still felt well rested. She always slept well when she was next to him. Not wanting to wake her companion (it was hard to place a label on this, yet) up, she had been sitting nearby watching the landscape move around her. When she heard a yawn from behind her, she looks back at Nooné and gets up swiftly, trotting over. Looking at him fondly, she says in a sing-songy but soft voice: "Goooood morningggg," leaning so her nose was close to his face, a smile on her own. All the others had left. But, as it turned out, the only one who mattered stuck around. Nooné

Nooné felt the sun bath him in shine, as the morning came back around. Opening one of his eyes to prove his assumption, the male groaned in laziness, really wanting to go back to sleeping again. The iberian could feel himseling embracing the calm and cozy space that his dreams were, when suddenly a certain someone brought him back into conciousness. "Goooood morningggg," sang Aenemeys, her soothing voice making his wake a little more pleasant. Slowly opening an eye again, Ne scanned his surroudings again, only to find his companion, leaning close to his face, watching over the male with those snowy eyes of hers. "Good mooooooorning to you too, Nemys," said Nooné playing along Aenemys's morning singing contest. The male yawned, right before walking closer to Anemeys, leaning over to her, both of their noses touching. The iberian turned around, getting out of their cave-y den, appreciating such a great day nature had gifted upon on them. He stretched his legs, and walked forwards. "It's morning trek time, dude. You coming?" asked Nooné to the snow white wolf. Aenemys

A black nose prodded at the air, taking in a few deep breaths before green eyes took in his surroundings. It was all so new, so bright, so...green, who knew this much green could ever exist. Who knew these tall, leafy things existed, what did they do? Why were there smaller versions of them closer to the ground? Had they too been locked up their whole lives, resulting in their small stature like his siblings? He hoped to be wrong, Walking around the outside of a bush before he heard what sounded like splashing, the same noise the water in his metal bowl would make whenever he would accidentally bump into it, then the liquid inside would smack the floor. Only the sound wasn't from a bowl, it was from a pond, but he had never seen a pond before. Excitedly, yet cautiously he made his way over to it, extending a dominantly black paw to touch the surface, breaking the tension before it sunk in, down to his elbow, he almost lost his balance. His ears flattened in thought as he realized the water wasn't hurting him, therefore it was ok. Just then he saw something glisten in the water, swimming along without a care in the world, Jericho launched himself into the water after it, set on catching it, splashing around, making lots of noise as he had his mind set on catching the blasted fish.

It seemed that life was never quite stable when you were a rogue. Everything changed, the seasons, and the companionship of others. She had enjoyed the company of the many wolves that she had come to know in the Valley. But the comfort of their company did not last long as they had all departed for lives of their own, looking to expand their story more, whereas everything Astoria needed was right there in the Valley with her. The jackal-wolf would never be accepted into a pack, nor be able to carry her life in one for that matter. She was seen as an abomination, not a wolf at all. She was seen for the part of her heritage that showed a little too much. She was deemed an alien, cast away from any pack she had tried to be a part of. But her life was much better as a rogue. No rules to follow, allowed to do what she wanted. And that included forming the bond she had with the male currently sleeping next to her. Astoria had fallen quickly for the wolfdog. His brilliant mind, his joyful company and the cuteness he held from the tip of his nose to the very end of his curly tail. They had many adventures over the months as their friends departed, each one more delightful than the last. It had finally come to a night where the stars were out and on full display, the snow having melted away and soft grass replacing it. Laughter still rang through her ears remembering that night. A shooting star had passed, and she had made a wish. That he would love her until the end of their days. And he had done the same. She had been to the moon and back by the time that she had realized his words, and tears had been shed on her part, knowing that he returned her feelings washed over the female like a tsunami, taking control of her emotions as she spouted her love for him. And now there was even more love between them. Especially with the small swollen belly she carried with her as she walked. She had not told Astro as of yet, as the belly was not quite noticeable to most. But she was planning to sometime soon. She was sure he knew, with her nausea episodes and the mood swings that had set in every once in awhile. The first telltale signs that she was pregnant were there, and he was far too intelligent to not have noticed the change in Astoria already. As she felt his head nuzzle hers, a delicate smile placed itself on her lips as chocolate eyes looked towards him, love held in their depths as she looked to her mate. “Good morning sweetie,” She said, giving a lick to his cheek as she shuffled a bit. “I had a few,” She chuckled. “One involved little Astros running around,” She giggled, looking towards him. “What about you?” The ears atop her head swiveled as she heard splashing coming from outside the den they shared. She lifted herself up to peer out. She would generally be afraid to do so, but Astro had brought back the spunky and sassy Astoria, the one that had been lost for quite some time. She saw a creature with spots, splashing around in the water, trying to catch a fish from what she saw. She giggled a little bit watching, and looked down to Astro. “It looks like we have a friend,” She said before pulling her small body from the den, walking slowly towards the water. “Hello there,” She called, her face having a pleasant yet guarded look to it. “If you keep splashing around like that, you’ll scare the fish away,” She giggled, then looked behind her. “What brings you around these parts?” A simple question, but a good conversation started for now. This creature was something she had never seen before, but as much as he looked foreign, Astoria could sympathize. Maybe he was a wolf hybrid like she and Astro. @astro Jericho

“Good morning sweetie,” A silvery voice sang out, light and pleasant. “I had a few,” She recalled thoughtfully. “One involved little Astros running around. What about you?” Astro hummed, nuzzling his head on top of her own. What a wonderful thought! “What would we name them?” He mused aloud, entirely absorbed in this new dilemma. The answer came as naturally as the question. “After stars, I suppose. What do you think?” A soft, coy smile came, lightly curling the corners of an onyx maw. It was a sweet thought, and Astoria would make a magnificent mother — it was just the sort of thing one felt. How exactly he knew, he couldn’t be certain, but he’d never felt more sure. A sanguine tongue slipped out, planting a kiss on her cheek. “Maybe one day we could make that dream a reality. I, for one, would love to see your little doppelgangers. The world won’t be ready.” There was a sudden airy prancing apparently taking place just beyond the scope of their den. A slender brow arched. “It looks like we have a friend,” Astoria quipped good-naturedly, wriggling out of his grasp to gain a closer look. Astro followed suit, fascinated. How very peculiar — he couldn’t say he’d seen anything resembling this creature. He was wolf-shaped, to be true, but his coat was covered in a wide array of ink-black spots and dots. A dalmootion, he believed his mother had deemed spotted members of their species; but this didn’t seem to be quite so. Dalmootions were entirely, perfectly white, for starters. He, on the other hand, had all colors assembled into his fur. And the ears — the ears — what was supposed to be drooping was incredibly large and round, like alder leaves. How incredibly curious! It had been a good amount of time since he’d last encountered a member of his species, Astoria’s either for that matter; but this creature was so utterly foreign he may not have been either at all. “Hello there,” Astoria greeted their possibly-dalmootion guest politely; her face gentle, friendly, smiling as always. “If you keep splashing around like that, you’ll scare the fish away. What brings you around these parts?” Playfully, Astro popped in over her shoulder, waggling a curled copper tail. “I’m Astro,” He added chipperly. “That’s Astoria. We both live juuuust around the corner right over there. What’s your name?”Tagged: Astoria Jericho

Loud smacks and splashes had nearly drowned out the sounds of approaching strangers as the fish evaded him further, frustration blossomed within the African Wild Dog, how in the world were you supposed to catch these things? His ears pinned back as he gave a growl before a voice caught him of guard, his hackles rising slightly, ears shaped like satellites standing at attention once more as he turned a green eyed gaze to two strangers, neither that resembled him nor each other. Aliens in their own right just as he was to them, this relaxed him somewhat. 'Hello there...If you keep splashing around like that, you’ll scare the fish away..what brings you to these parts?' The smaller of the two asked, the fur of her cheeks that stuck out making her head look much bigger than it actually was, a narrow nose fitting her features and symmetrical ears, she had no spots while her companion did not either, though he had a somewhat funny looking curled tail. He listened to what the male had to say, introducing himself politely before he spoke, wanting to seem polite as they had been polite to start. 'I’m Astro, That’s Astoria. We both live juuuust around the corner right over there. What’s your name?' He was thankful he could understand them, though he was aware that not everyone was kind, his life had taught him that, these two seemed friendly enough. "The people who took me called me Jericho...I recently escaped from the two legged monsters."he recalled, deciding to give up on the fish, he walked himself out of the pond, shaking himself off. "It's nice to meet two friendly faces, I'm afraid I have no idea where I am.." he did not want to unload all the trauma he had harbored within him upon these two, that would not be fair, if they asked he would share his findings with them, but until then he would simply keep it to himself. "Does this place have a name?"

"The people who took me called me Jericho,” The dalmootion started, eyeing them just as inquisitively. “I recently escaped from the two legged monsters." Humans — Astro’s ears perked, deeply intrigued — his mother had lived near the whole of her life among them. She’d described them as misguided things; most not monstrous, but deeply misinformed. Apparently it was best to observe, but never to interact. Yet it seemed poor Jericho never quite had a say in such matters. He wouldn’t press him any further. Astro wouldn’t press. The horrors he’d witnessed dwelled in the past. No need to force them here too. "It's nice to meet two friendly faces,” He quipped, his face gentle. “I'm afraid I have no idea where I am. Does this place have a name?" His tone was friendly, but his face held such a sad, lost quality to it — Astoria and him could help fix that! “Wolves outside call this strip of land the valley,” He began, flopping onto his back to get a new angle. Grey eyes gleamed against the stranger’s own as he wagged his tail, inviting him to twist and join him. “The valley itself has no name. If you live here, like Astoria and I, you say you’re heading into the valley. All there is to it.” He laughed, his tone airy, pleasant. “There are four large packs beyond these hills: Lubrusca, Ferus, Noctis, and Somnus. Most rogues we meet here are heading to join one of those four. They don’t take all too kindly to wolves like us though.” He added thoughtfully. “All the better for us. Life is best unconstrained; that’s what I think. No rules, no master, just your whims and a world ahead.”Jericho Astoria

Aenemys smiled from cheek to cheek as he greeted her back with the only voice she had come to remember, his nose touching hers in a way that would never cease to give her an invisible flush, feeling the effects of her face getting warm. Never had such fond feelings for someone graced her every day like this. She sighs and rolls her eyes jokingly as he summons her to their ritual morning walk, dramatically fixing her posture and stretching her legs a bit, a sarcastic show of no such desire though she looks forward to it every day. "I suppose I am," she says, trotting to his side. Though she loved their routine walks, she wished maybe there was a little more time to stay warm with each other this morning. However, she supposed she could not have her way every day, and there would always be more cold nights to offer up such an excuse. "You lead this morning," she says to him, the fur of her side barely brushing his, her white barely intermingling with his brown as she waits for him to take on a certain direction. "I will gladly go wherever you take me."Nooné

"I suppose so," said the grayish she-wolf as she stood up from her resting position. "You lead this morning," added Aenemys, brushing her fur against the Iberian, mixing their fur hues yet again. "I will gladly go wherever you take me," she finished, sending a warm sensation to Nooné's heart, which expanded throughout his body, only leaving the male to stare at the female wide eyed, as if he couldn't believe it. With a blushy chuckle, he kept on walking, thinking of something new to do, maybe get out of the routine for a change of pace. "Remember the place we met in?" asked Nooné, as memories of that day back at the coastline came flooding back in. So much had happened, so much had changed since then. "Why don't we go there? Might as well see who can catch fish better, too!" challenged the Iberian, fully knowing the female would certainly accept the request, defiantly. "Don't think a snowstorm will be a problem this time around though," he added, as he tried to remember the way to that sandy place.
