Ashi watched as the pretty female before him drooped her ears back and her beautiful eyes dropped. The male's own ears copied as his head tilted to the side slightly. Did he offend her? She scuffed at the dirt while her tail swayed and Ash's mind started racing a million miles an hour. Did she want him to leave? Would she lash out? No, she was too sweet. Did he upset her? Wait, is this the last time he'd see her?! Way to go you over-grown moron. Completely blew it with the nicest view in lands for miles. Not to mention how lovely she was to even medicate you. A large tomb-stone like ear flickered as his leathery nose twitched some. "W-well that's good that your head is feeling better," she spoke and Ash's golden eyes flickered to her face. She dipped her cranium before speaking once more. "I hate to cut this short, but I do have a pack to get back too." Oh right... Marigold orbs dropped from the lavender gaze, just in time to miss the sad look they held. Of course, she was a pack wolf. And he was nothing more than a trespassing rogue. She probably had a love interest, friends and responsibilities to attend to... Whereas Ashi's unshakable feeling of sadness wanted to ground him to the territory, to speak more with this mysterious female known as Beta Violet Feather. To get to know her and see more of the smile that graced him. "Are... Are you staying around this area?" she asked and suddenly Ashi perked up, his eyes shining with a small dose of hope as ears stood tall to attention. "Those herbs will only last for a while, I want to come back and check later tonight to make sure that its nothing worse than a simple headache. If that's alright with you of course." Her fluffy tail curled around those delicate ivory paws and all Ash could do was let a huge smile cross his face as he nodded vigorously. His tail swiping side to side behind him, the obvious indication of his forward happiness. " Yeah! I-I can come back.." He said sheepishly with a shy grin, the joy bubbling up within him and filling his whole huge mass with warmth. " I um.. I'll see you later tonight?" he said cliché-ly, the smile never leaving his face as his voice carried hopefulness to her word. He'd patiently wait for her agreement before lifting himself to all fours and, a little reluctantly, padding away. Constantly looking back over his shoulder to see the gem of ivory move away from his vision .: Exit I guess? :.

| | The white she-wolf wasn't sure about what she was doing. Why was she being so nice to this male, even though he was an outsider, and didn't belong to the Somnus Pack? Did it have to just do with her overall nature, and liking helping other wolves? Or was it the fact that she was possibly falling for this male? She didn't know what love felt like, especially since she had spent her entire life, just sitting in the background, watching others have fun and become mates, while she waited patiently for something like that to happen to her. But now that it was possibly happening, she wasn't sure if that was what was happening. She had experience with a lot of things, but love was not one of them. Looking towards the male with lavender eyes that spoke with so many mixed emotions, she nodded to him. "I'll see you, later tonight. I'll be in this spot," She told him.
If her pack members found her scent outside the borders, or straying across the borders, she could say that she was hunting, and stage it as if she had been. It was pretty easy to do so. Why would she need to lie about what she was doing? Shaking her head slightly, she knew that she shouldn't be thinking so far ahead. Most wolves wouldn't even be able to tell that her scent had strayed across the border, and she had no need to worry. Bringing her attention to the handsome male, she gave one more dip of her head after his answer, and turned on her heels. "Later, Loverboy," She said the last word, throwing a smile his way. She was referring to his last comment about her being cute, and giving him the slightest hint that she was interested, and complimenting him. Waving her tail behind her with a sway of her hips, she headed back into the heart of Somnus Territory, hoping that the male would indeed come back. She felt a surge of anxiety and excitement course through her.

Hills stretched out as far as the eye could see as Resin scanned the outskirts of the Somnus range, perched safely up on a hillside just beyond the pack's border. Since the death of his mate, the male had been searching tirelessly for a place to call home, and stumbling upon the faint scent of wolves the night before had lead him to the North western border of the Somnus pack. His journey to the hills had not been an easy one, his frame betraying a poor source of food supply. It was not for lack of skill, but for lack of patience. Resin's paws itched constantly to move forward, to find a home, making proper hunting nearly impossible.
Inhaling deeply and rousing himself with a shake, he took the first pawsteps over the border. Carefully, he began to pick his way down the hill side, one paw after another to avoid tumbling down the hill like a newborn learning to walk. Wouldn't that make for a good first impression..., Resin thought humorlessly, mind plagued with worry over meeting these new wolves. If any came to meet him at all, of course.
As the hill began to flatten out, Resin paused and let his nose graze over the wet, dew soaked morning grass. The scent of wolves was stronger here, though it still required some zigzagging and searching about before he came to find the strongest trail. Bushy brown tail wagging, his walk soon turned into an eager trot as he followed the smell deeper and deeper into the territory. Worry vanished from his mind, giving way to pure eagerness and joy. It had been so long since he had had a friendly encounter with another wolf, longer still since he had a pack to call home. Tongue lolling from his mouth as Resin began to pant, ears pricked forward searching for any signs, the silver-brown male couldn't help but give an excited whine.
Whether the pack met him with tooth or met him with warmth, Resin no longer cared. He simply wanted company.

O C E A N general of somnus
He was a stranger to his step as he blundered upon the borders with Azaelia at his side. From the lake he reminisced about her, and only about her. He didn't want to think of the foul actions he'd taken in the past in pursuit of things he'd never find without her, and he didn't want to think that if he'd been patient by waiting for Somnus to heal--for Azaelia to heal and for himself to heal--that things would have never come this far. Ocean may not have left, and Francesca may not be dead.
Regardless of what hadn't or could have happened if Ocean had made better decisions with regards to his emotions, he was with the love of his life; the only one who had ever been able to lift those regrets from his shoulders for even a second. He thought of her like most helpless things in love do; like she was the last of her kind, not knowing how she existed in this world.
A concern like a wolf at the borders was too trivial to cross his mind until the scent was practically knocking at his nose. He'd been fighting it, hoping to be able to spend the rest of the day alone with his mate. Duty calls.
An invigorating breeze wafted over his snow-coated pelt as he picked up speed towards the dark silhouette towards the outskirts. He beckoned Azaelia to his side with his tail. He considered her to be his superior in many ways, including that she was his previous alphess, but he would always be the head of any stranger encounter and it had been that way in the past.
Ocean's hackles raised as distance closed between him and the rogue who was relatively large compared to some of the others resting at camp. His tail raised with intent; he was rather aggressive by nature, and if this kid was here to stay then he'd be quick to get used to it.
"Stay where you are," he commanded the wolf who was scampering towards the territory with purpose on his visage, tongue out. Quite a warm welcome compared to the last one he'd given. Continuing in a gutteral voice he arched his neck downward. "You here to cause trouble?" Ocean's brows furrowed as his eyes burned with unnerving glower at the male with the sole intention to break that stupid, hopeful gaze. He had a date to move on with. OOC @resin Azaelia |

| Azaelia. Former Somnus Alphess
Ocean's fur stroked her flank, his warmth seeping into her being like a defense against the season's biting frost. She wished she could extend their time so she could feel close to him a little longer, after everything she'd done to keep herself away from him all these years, but one thing never did change: duty came first when there was a family to serve and protect. Her gazed cruised Ocean's withdrawing figure as she duly took her place behind him, although with some hesitation after what had happened with Tadashi. The poor coy had barely left Ocean's grasp alive. The brute would have been responsible for many calamities at the outskirts had Azaelia not been there to stabilize him. The two leveled each other in a lot of ways, but now wasn't the time to ruminate about the nature of their relationship. Azaelia was a dominant looking she-wolf. She was born with age and had carried herself like a grown lass since a child. That grace was still with her and it contrasted humorously with her mate's. She didn't need to raise her hackles or her tail to divulge her prominence; Ocean was practically a walking advertisement. Azaelia stepped on his hind foot to demand his eyes on hers, which rolled skyward in criticism of his tetchy, showy attitude. She came forward to take over the situation. "Sorry about that," she said, drilling back to Ocean with a black face. "Welcome to Somnus. I'm Azaelia, previous generation alphess. This is Ocean, our general. Who are you?" Her voice like warm milk. It must have been relieving to hear her dulcet tones after an encounter with brutish Ocean. She'd never been lenient with rogues at the border--not this lenient. She was a good judge of character and knew Ocean had no reason to rip this boy's pipe out. She remembered how things used to be in Somus, back when joining was like entering a military; interrogations and trials. Things needed to be different here and that was clear, and those changes needed to be made one small step at a time.

Resin had expected a scout, maybe a youngster romping around the territory outskirts to visit him first. He was not expecting two high ranking members to trot up to him while he darted around like a puppy. The large male's expression visibly changed as the two imposing figures walked up to him with confidence in their step. Despite his size, Resin's demeanor did not become defensive or aggressive, but incredibly submissive. Averting his yellow gaze and lowering himself slightly, he whined, intent on showing the two he meant no harm. " I am Resin, member of no pack. I am not here to cause trouble, I came because I was lonely." Resin's smooth, deep voice hid nothing, he spoke the honest truth and was not ashamed to admit it. Seeing the pair, clearly mates, struck deeply into his heart. Sad memories flooded into his mind's eye which he forced back as his hackles began to raise. He did not let Ocean unnerve him, however. They were nearly matched in size, and Resin had no reason to be bullied into submission. Smoothing out his coat and perking his ears again, Resin finally turned to face the two. He took on a more relaxed expression, tongue out as his tail began to wag again. " It is an honor to meet such powerful members of the pack, and I am grateful for your patience." Cautiously, the silvery wolf made a step forward, bowing his head, addressing the ex-leader directly. " T'would be an even greater honor to meet the rest of your family." He added, voice pleading. " I mean no harm to you or anyone here, please... I simply want a place to rest my head."

O C E A N general of somnus
A muted snarl was his final response to the rogue's upright guise when the sting of Azaelia's teeth pierced his ankle, unhappy to be packed off like a defective machine. Azaelia's creamy voice was radiant like a sunset. Lost in the multifaceted nature of the elder he found a sense of structure in the inconsistency of her tone, and in her spirit. Commanding, correcting, and commending all at once. She left a trove of owlish words in every sentence.
"I am Resin, member of no pack. I am not here to cause trouble, I came because I was lonely." It was the first time a rogue had come to Somnus borders and been completely honest. He was practically exposing his genitals.
"It is an honor to meet such powerful members of the pack, and I am grateful for your patience." Ocean had his rear to the ground where it collected white dust. His neck arced to the west in negligence to the newcomer. Unlike the others, Ocean was traditional. He liked to call it a dedication to Rage and his values that he felt were forgotten once he died. The rogue wouldn't earn any value to Ocean or to Somnus until he was part of the family.
"T'would be an even greater honor to meet the rest of your family. I mean no harm to you or anyone here, please... I simply want a place to rest my head."
Ocean stood to his fours, surpassing Azaelia. He confronted the rogue with a revving voice. "We'll take you to our territory, but once you're in, you're not to leave until our alphess returns to deal with you formally. You'll be a guest under our supervision. Understood?"
He hadn't thought about his decision until after he'd made it, and even then all he could surmise was the question, "what would she have done?" He looked enviously over at the more sophisticated and domestic diplomat he was finally able to call his mate. He reckoned, with great shame amidst his rigid and drastically green character that the question may have instead been, "what would she have wanted me to do?"
He didn't give Resin the opportunity to thank him or give him a look of admiration. He didn't want it from Azaelia either. He turned away quickly and began his his trek back to the commons immediately, expecting to be followed but not putting in the effort to once it over.

ROGUE VESPEN
Vespen flicked a tail and huffed to herself. She was cold, even with her new coat of fur growing thicker. She was lonely, having lost her brother a week ago. Rose eyes held a tiredness that many wouldn’t recognize. She was mourning, having not been able to find her twin she was at a lose with the world around her.
Vespen couldn’t go on living alone, not when was used to a large family, not when the only one who got her was gone, not when she was in a new area without any idea of who was friendly. Vespen was definitely not used to being alone, which drove her to the nearest pack. She needed to be around others or she would go insane.
Rumors had spoke of a friendly pack that lived in this area. Following the scent trails she coasted the border before finally deciding to howl. Her howl was sweet and warm, but the undertones were sad. Her exhaustion over the last week cut the call short, as her stamina wasn’t that strong to begin with. Falling into the pile of snow she would wait for someone to respond. Once Vespen would see the leaders or greeters approaching, she would rise gracefully and dip her head and tail in respect.

| Azaelia. Former Somnus Alphess
A quarter of an hour had passed since the rogue left to the rogue lands. Azaelia was sure Ocean had intimidated him. It was uncharacteristic of Somnus, but Ocean had always rejected some of the pack's ideals. Azaelia remembered the first day she and Ocean arrived here; within minutes he was refuting the alphas' decisions. Though, he never dared to combat Azaelia⏤as it should always be.
She was ready to follow Ocean back to the commons when she found a crystal white figure laying in the piling snow. She would have mistaken the figure as an intense accumulation of snowfall had she not seen its icy breath emitting from a pale nose.
"Ocean, wait," she called with her eyes fixed on the rogue. Perhaps the two superiors would see better luck with this one.
Her pads were chilled by the cool surface, and her pelt was damp as snow softly dropped on it. Ocean was her source of warmth as she walked beside him towards the alabaster rogue, though she would not abandon her posh stature nor the demanding dignity in her sweet, lavender eyes. Upon confrontation with the rogue, she gave her eyes to Ocean through a devilishly saccharine gaze; she intended to soften his heart and ease his mind, persuading him to act more feeling during this encounter than he did during the last.
"Good evening," she greeted with her milky voice. The vibrant-eyed rogue had given Ocean and Azaelia a respectful salutation with a customary dip of her head and low-hanging tail. Azaelia had no reason to respond in any other way but of the like.
"You must be exhausted wandering during a storm." The rogue was very obviously weary, and did not hide it. Perhaps the weather was not what was taking its toll on her, but Azaelia would need to assess her more before announcing her curiosity. "Are you seeking shelter?"

His mate's warm beckoning stopped the brute. The trail of prints in the snow ended just before meeting the bordering trees of the clearing. White flakes lit his pelt and reflected the sun descending below the mountains; he didn't appear so monstrous. Azaelia must've been satisfied.
Ocean wasn't fond of howling rogues at their borders. Who were they to command the attention of their superiors? They'd be found eventually. Ocean grunted, the warmth of his breath visibly leaving his maw, immediately finding himself guilty when Azaelia flashed her eyes towards him. He was aware of her frequent attempts to induce him, and he could never evade them. He was prey to her dignified seductions.
This time, he would serve only as a body to protect his mate. Azaelia was undoubtedly the better communicator, and he would obey her honied demands that he stay out of this one. His minty optics drilled into the rosé orbs of the rogue, softening with every second he could hear Azaelia's tranquilizing voice.

Soft mauve paw pads brushed against rough grass and rocky terrain as a ruddy female glided over the valleys land. This area was new to her. This was all new to her. Karasu smelled scents of worn wolves, weary with time and loyalty. The grass here was well trodden from dozens of paws passing through, hoping to find a future here among this tired land. She too hoped to find a future here, aware that this was pack territory. The independence of being a rouge had worn her heart down for the months of loneliness, and she hoped she would be welcomed here among these wolves. Sturdy mountain flowers grew near rocky outcrops and under shards of stone jutting from the lumpy ground. She stopped to run her muzzle over one, enjoying the earthy smell it left on her snout. She promptly looked up and sneezed, pollen exiting her nose in a flurry. Shaking her head, she began to move forward once again, scanning the land with her jade colored eyes, and she froze, looking around, thinking she may have caught the scent of recent passer bys. "Hello?" she said quietly, her rich voice carrying through the air in a thin way, "I need to speak to a dominant wolf here. I have caught word this pack is accepting....." her words trailed off, and she realized how foolish she must have sounded, speaking to the wind about her loneliness.

ROGUE VESPEN
Vespen was glad to see such a kind soul greeting her. The she-wolf walked with grace and such a bright smile, she first thought she was a hallucination. As she realized that the female approaching was indeed real, she swore she could have melted the snow around them; even with the hulking shadow that followed suit.
Smiling kindly, she couldn’t help but feel welcomed by the elder in front of her. Nodding her head to the she-wolf’s question, “I am.” Soon though the emptiness within her heart and the reminder of her missing brother hit her once more. Sadness soon replaced the feeling of happiness.
“I… I lost my twin, not long ago, and I have been unable to find him,” she confessed, ears dropping to her skull. “I haven’t been alone,” wavering voice she held back the tears that threatened to spill over. “To be honest, I’m scared to go back out there, so I’m looking for more than just shelter, I’m looking for a home and family,” Vespen finished shyly, rose eyes dropping away from the she-wolf’s form. She could feel the slight embarrassment bubbling up in her chest at admitting something so private.
A wolf scared, how pathetic must she sound. Before her mind could go into a spiral, she bit her cheek. The pain flashed through her mind and quickly snapped her mind out of such dark thoughts. Turning her gaze back over the female she tried not blushing. Forgetting an integral part of meeting something new she piped back up, her happier tone returning. "I'm Vespen, by the way, a pleasure to meet you both."

| Azaelia. Former Somnus Alphess
Azaelia was curious about her. Her reaction to the former alphess was more real than most of the rogues she'd ever met here, whose often unwelcome calls demanded the attention of the pack. Azaelia scoured the female's alabaster frame and her poignant, and just the same exuberant eyes. She came to realize that the howl at the borders was less a request than a cry, and she only became more confident of her observation when her ears were serenely captured by the lonesome rogue's melancholy response.
"Vespen," she began heartedly as her face near fell to the shrubs. The name became august and solemn with Azaelia's voice, thickly dulcet and sonorous⏤characteristic of an elder, and all the wolves of Somnus, who knew the trials of losing their loved ones. The silver alphess feared that the poisoned family of Somnus would not be able to help the poor rogue recover, but she could not deny somebody who was in need.
"Hello," questioned a distant voice, clearly unsure if it was appropriate to impede on such a dark moment, though it was more appropriate than eavesdropping. Azaelia was prevented from finishing her sentence by the stranger's direct inquiries. The girl was nervous, unsure how to behave towards pack superiors, but desperate to figure it out. This was the rogue she was most familiar with meeting at her borders, not Vespen.
"Yes," she said mindlessly towards the stranger while her soft, curious features were still fixed on Vespen. She ached to know more about her, but she would have to cut short their conversation and give her attention to the stranger. Finally, she anchored her vision on the other.
"Don't be nervous, sweetie," she said, alternating her gaze between the two rogues. "It is not my place to accept you into the pack, but I am happy to give both of you sanction from the storms until our alphess returns to make a decision."
She let her eyes wander for a moment in search of others. Rogues were always inclined to join the packs during the winter. Her eyes then traveled to Ocean, curious about what he thought of this, though she hardly needed to ask the stubborn brute. Finally, they fluttered back to the stranger.
"What's your name, lass?"
* * below is my edit to address the following 4 posts * *
Karasu⏤not so fitting for the hushful, multi-hued female. Her mate surprised her with an instance of compassion towards the two rogues. It nearly sent a chill down her spine, and thick warmth like wine through her cheeks. She thought about it long like a child until Vespen addressed her.
"Azaelia, former alphess. My thorny mate there is Ocean, our general," she said with a silly scowl facing the brute. Their small conversations continued through the forest regions of the outskirts until they'd found the commons. She was quite satisfied with this encounter, and Ocean's uncharacteristic composure.

Karasu approached the femme cautiously, sniffing the air and detecting no sign of hostility of reproach. She relaxed, her muzzle hanging open in a wolfish grin, her tail giving off a slight wag. "Karasu." she stated, her rich voice quiet in respect to the obviously higher rank. She lowered her head and pulled back her ears, attempting to show what she knew about submissiveness, though she was unsure of what else was required of her. "You can help us, my lady?" she asked, hoping and letting a silent prayer to the ancestors of her kind that she would finally be able to leave behind the loneliness of being a rogue. g e n e r a l • o c e a n a reckless wolf with a selfless interior
Yet more streams of melancholy surged the Somnus territory. It wasn't like Ocean to consider such things, but this was quite the destination for Vespen. Azaelia's eyes scanned over his form, presumably to gather some sort of hypothesis about his opinion. He averted his gaze to Vespen in response, a wolf not quite like the rest who obliviously bobbled into the outskirts; he was quite interested. He could not say the same for the other. She lacked social skills like most rogues and was desperate to please. She would make the perfect omega, though it wasn't characteristic of Somnus to bestow such roles in the traditional sense. Eureka was quite the example. Ocean maintained a relaxed stature next to his eloquent mate. The two looked like a fashion together when the brute was not so inclined towards his usual methods of intimidation. "You must be hungry," Ocean said affably towards both of the rogues, relatively abnormal to his nature. He gazed upon Azaelia briefly to consider her decision before making his contribution. "We will head to the commons first and prepare a hunt. Come, it will be dark soon." His skin was boiling with discomfort as he turned towards the territory, unpracticed in the art of compassion, but he could not afford the wrath of his mate. --Exit to commons--
