Tadashi stood as the Salutary, Murdoch, came his way, apparently just from a hunt. Ignoring the dead bird, the wolfdog lowered his head in respect, before raising it up again once he heard the other male talk. "Francesca? Was she -" Tadashi got cut off as the Salutary bolted past him, clearly onto something. The male itched to immediately follow, but reined his impulse in, taking just a second to lift his nose and take a deep inhale, eyes scanning and ears straining to hear anything. He couldn't hear anything out of the ordinary, saw nothing but the wolves and the forest undergrowth, and smelt... Tadashi took a step forwards, towards where Murdoch had ran, and breathed in, tilting his head back and letting a bit of the air over the roof of his mouth. The resulting, scent was blood. Both of the dead pheasant, dropped unceremoniously onto the ground, and more of it farther off, that held a more chilling realization. Tadashi whirled to Caleb, but couldn't conjure up the right words. "Stay here, Caleb. I'll be right back." Though, he thought as he loped after Murdoch with his head held awkwardly, the white pup probably would not follow his orders. Following the vaguely herbal scent of Murdoch, Tadashi slowed as he saw the tan and brown pelt, and the black fur that he was inspecting. That must've been the missing wolf, Francesca. A chill swept through his bones, worming under his pelt. Not a stranger to dead bodies, it still had been a while since he saw another dead wolf, and it brought back memories. Though, differently from others, her body had not been ripped up, and it almost looked like she was just taking a nap, if you ignored the lack of movement and oddly limp form, like just a pile of old, dead leaves. Forcing himself to walk forwards, the cross tried not to get in the way while still trying to indicate, silently, that he wanted to help in any way. His answer came as the Salutary turned and addressed him, ordering him to stay here. A small nod was given from Tadashi, and the male turned towards the camp, the dead wolfess behind him, and stood sentry. - If Caleb had come with Tadashi, the curious rebel, then the hulking wolfdog would gently block his vision, sparing him the sight of a dead wolf. "Go with Murdoch." He would say in a low voice, the calmest he could muster, standing firm against any protest. As the two walked away, Tadashi sighed, looking back at the dead wolf once, using a paw to gently brush a couple leaves off of the fur, and silently turned back around. Tagged: Salutary Murdoch @caleb

Salutary Murdoch As Eureka turns and leaves, Murdoch gives a low nod towards her. Showing both respect and gratitude that she would be the one to fetch Fran's friend. Turning back to Azaelia he kept his ears perked forward to listen to her words. Fear gripped his heart by her dampened demeanor. He only hoped this would not get him kicked out or depleted to another rank. He was unable to run, did not know how to fight, and was getting old. He would only be good as an elder, nothing more. The fear slowly released as her words moved over him, calming him. " Murdoch, I know that you did all that you could, and I thank you for at least trying," the way she spoke brought a since of appreciation towards her. The way her words slipped from her maw had him entranced slightly. " We will hold her burial tonight. The least I can do is give Ocean some time with her. Meanwhile, perhaps you can clean her up some so she will be more presentable," were her orders to him. An affirmative head nod ensued but before he could turn and deal with the grim business of making Fran presentable, Azaelia's voice echoed towards him once more. " I'll come with you." Were the comforting words that met his ears. His heart stilled a little as she beckoned him to her side. Complying to her wishes he moved there, giving them space and standing just a little behind her to show is submission and rank. " Thank you," was all he could manage to say because what else was there to say to her. The warmth that he received from being close to the she-wolf comforted his nerves greatly. Having only experienced this once before, he looked to Azaelia with awe and something else. Something Murdoch could not put a name to. Having arrived where Tadashi stood, Murdoch gave a grateful nod his friend. Moving past him he looked over the she-wolf's cold body. Rigor had set in already, leaving her joints stiff. He would be unable to move her but she simply just looked to have laid down for a nap. Moving a paw he closed her eyes, he should've done that before he left. Scolding himself, he began to lick up the blood around her mouth. The act was unsettling for him. This was his first dead patient. This was the first time cleaning a wolf that was dead. First time blood was in his mouth from someone dead. So many thoughts swormed through his head but he couldn't help but keep going. He just had to make her look like she was napping. Just napping. Not dead. He closed his eyes tight and tried to replace other imagery. She was knocked out, having chocked on some blood. He was just licking her muzzle to remove the blood. She was fine. She was breathing. She wasn't dead. Finally his task done, he moved away before opening his eyes. Finally with his orange optics were revealed and starring at the small she-wolf below him. Her body lay limp against the earth. His ears swivelled on his head before cocking at an awkward angle. His tail lay stiff and slightly curled underneath his body. So many emotions raged through his head and heart. Turning away from the deceased he looked to Azaelia again. His eyes holding immense sadness. But starring at her and her expression, calmed him down somehow. These emotions were confusing to him and he looked away again. Moving stiffly he walked to where he was in between Tadashi and Azaelia. He stood there, muzzle pointed at the ground and eyes tightly closed. He went back through all the things he did and could've done. Questioning his techniques but then reaffirming he did things correctly. He tried to find where he went wrong. What did he do wrong. Nothing. Nothing was his answer. But that wasn't good enough. He was the Salutary now. No one should die under his watch. No one. Not again. @azaelia General Ocean Alphess Eureka @tadashi | 680 | --

Eureka "Laugh as much as you breathe and love as long as you live." It was undeniable that a numb throb still hummed along Eureka's bones, this being the aftermath of fear--or perhaps terror, as she had watched Ocean's breakdown. Despite the unsettling reaction, the she-wolf still kept her body as relaxed and bouncy as possible as she glided into the Commons with the smoothest gait she could muster. Of course she kept her air of energy and optimism with her stride, though if one were to look into her caramel eyes for long enough they might have been able to notice the dull edge that remained after her recent encounter. Eureka only felt the need to see Ocean without such a distressed flame dancing in his eyes, so her path was set on finding Azaelia, her scent still hung loosely in the air as she followed it to find the Alphess.
"Azaelia," she called with sweet tunes to the she-wolf, announcing her arrival before she cast a friendly gaze over towards Murdoch, Tadashi and...Francesca. Her eyelids flickered and air was caught in her throat as she saw the female who had passed, a feeling of uneasiness congregating in her stomach as she willed herself to move closer to the body in order to speak to Azaelia. Eureka tore her stare away from the stiffened figure, instead grazing her optics over the familiar and welcoming sight of the Alphess, the negativity in her gut starting to fade as a polite smile gradually made it's way onto her lips as it usually did.
"I thought you ought to know that Ocean took off in the direction of the river. He looked like he was having a fit, so if you wanted to make an effort to calm him down, you could probably find him there." Eureka stated as calmly as she could, keeping a sense of normality within her tone as she waited to hear a response from Azaelia in order to convince herself that she had done the right thing by leaving him on his own. She wasn't exactly sure she would have survived if she had've followed him, so she hoped that she'd made the right choice by informing Azaelia instead.

The slight female had just laid herself down, her eyes half shut when commotion seemed to sound around the common grounds. She allowed her eyes to snap open with interest and watched as wolves seemed to move towards a shadow in the distance. With her nostrils flared she inhaled the scent, and immediately an unrelenting image popped into the young she-wolf's mind. The scent she had taken in was that of rust upon dirt, blood, not old but certainly not new and even more present for her was the scent of death, one she had been introduced to far to soon in her short life. In her minds eye lay her brother's with their fur stiff with blood, eyes glazed over in a trance of death, but it was not her brothers who now lay limp in the grass, for this was a pack wolf, though she wasn't sure who. She pushed herself to her paws, her eyes darting between wolves. As omega, she was sure she had no place in the chaos, but as Venus, she was intrigued. She pulled herself towards the shadow, hackles rising as she neared the ever present scent of death. She could catch the vaguest scent of Ocean, laced with emotions she had never seen spill from the brute, and before her was the scene of an Alpha, rolling with emotions for the death of one of her own. As she neared she recognized the wolf as Francesca. Her breath caught in her throat as she gazed at the downed she-wolf. She could tell, even from a distance that the she-wolf's body was already stiff, she would not be moved, not currently at least.
The off-white she wolf tilted her head to the side, unsure how to approach the situation before her, for immediately her mind raged about what had killed the wolf, as she was too far away from the she wolf to tell, and though her fellow Omega's were near, she felt the need to stay quiet. For everyones eyes seemed filled with far to much emotion, to much to say and unsure of how to say it. Too much to feel and unsure of how to show it. She knew the feeling all to well for she herself had been through the stages of grief and yet here she was certain to go through them again, though not as hard pressed as she was for her siblings.
Seconds turned into minutes and the she-wolf found herself sinking to the ground. Her usual reckless behavior almost subdued by the weight of the death that hung in the air. For her alpha was silent and so werr her counterparts. How could she think to be careless when a packmate had died. From afar, she gazed with respect in her eyes, a glimmer of sadness dancing in her yellow eyes. She wishes to comfort her packmates, to avenge the dead but all she could do at this moment was lay her head on her paws, her ears seeming to pin themselves angrily against her head, hackles raised. Her mixture of emotions was not the only to be shown as she watched her packmates tail curl between his legs, his eyes swelling with feelings he couldn't put into words.

Big, ocean-blue eyes stared up at the predominantly black wolfdog, wide with wonder and excitement from the day. Tadashi's reply to his words echoed in the little pup’s ears and brought a smile to his face. "Well, Wea will be with you, so you'll have a playmate, at least." Caleb nodded his head enthusiastically. “Mhmm!” he replied. “I hope Weayaya and I can be friends,” he said thoughtfully, curling his fluffy little tail around him as he sat. It thumped against the ground close to his feet. "Say what,” Tadashi said, “I'll come with you to find Murdoch. I need to ask him about when I can hunt or do my job, and not be hindered by this neck thing, and you can ask him about River. He's bound to know who they are." “Alright!” Caleb said, jumping to his feet. His eyes roved over the commons, once again looking for the salutary. After a moment, Tadashi said, "I don't see him either. Do you think we should ask someone else?"Caleb nodded slowly, looking up at his friend. “I-I guess so, but I don’t know who to ask. I don’t see Lorelei or anyone I really know too well yet . . .” His tail and ears drooped slightly in disappointment. He had been hoping to see the black-and-white healer again, not only to ask him about River but just to talk to the nice-seeming male again. Then, after a moment, Murdoch appeared in the commons. A bird was hanging from his jaws, evidence of a successful hunt on Murdoch’s part. Caleb’s expression brightened significantly at the sight of the male. “Hi, Murdoch!” he yipped as the healer approached. The bicolored male was looking toward Tadashi. "Have you seen Francesca?" he asked. For a moment, he paused. Then, his body shot forward, passing the pup and the wolfdog by. Caleb looked on in confusion. Then, a sickened feeling settled in his gut as a scent reached him from the direction Murdoch was headed. It was an earthy, iron-like scent that was repulsively familiar to the pup. It was the stench of blood. The tiny ball of silver-white fluff recoiled as he recognized the smell, memories of Zylee’s murder hitting him. "Stay here, Caleb. I'll be right back." Caleb hesitated, sitting down slowly where he was to watch the male lope off in pursuit of Murdoch. Worry built up in the pit of Caleb’s stomach. Had someone else been hurt? Was it Francesca? She had seemed nice, was she alright? Quickly, worry and curiosity overtook the pup and he jumped to his feet, stumbling awkwardly forward until he found his stride and skittered with small, puplike bounds in their direction. As he came closer, he saw Tadashi and Murdoch standing over a body mottled in colorful fur. Is that Francesca? he wondered, trying to peek around to see what was going on. He found his view blocked intentionally by Tadashi and swallowed a lump in his throat. That wolf was dead. Why else would Tadashi try to keep him away? "Tadashi, keep others away," Caleb heard Murdoch’s soft voice say. The pup jumped slightly, looking up sadly to the older wolf when he was addressed. "Caleb, let’s go find River." The pup glanced over to Tadashi, who instructed him gently to go with Murdoch. As the pair padded along, Caleb caught sight of an aged she-wolf, and that seemed to be who they were approaching. "See if she has some stories to tell you.” With that, Murdoch left, taking off in the direction of the Alphess. Caleb slowly approached the she-wolf, River, and nodded over at her. “Hello there,” he said softly. He didn’t speak beyond that, instead choosing simply to lower himself to the ground and rest his head on his paws, appearing quite depressed; who wouldn’t, after realizing that a wolf had died. He thought back to when he had met the she-wolf at the borders; she had seemed kind enough. It was terrible for her to have died. What could have happened to her? Was she hurt when he had met her? Perhaps, and he simply hadn’t noticed in his fear. For now, he did not know. He could only stay and wait, his blue eyes watching Murdoch carefully and sadly, to find out exactly what had happened. | -- Timeskip: 5 weeks --
It was the gentle grey sunlight that awoke the young Alphess, a murmur catching on her lips as her body grabbed onto consciousness and pulled her from sleep. Gentle eyelids fluttered open to reveal the clouded caramel eyes that sat beautifully upon Eureka's masked face. She blinked; once, twice, until finally her body was aware of her surroundings. It was the gentle smell of her mother that caught her nose first, having moved into her mother's old den shortly after her passing. Perhaps it was a mistake to do so, the sweet and fading scents of her mother pulling back blissfully painful memories of a simpler time, times that consisted of her beloved brothers who now stood tall and strong, and sisters who were now long gone.
Every morning the pang of grief swept over her sleep ridden body, though the sadness seemed to dim in intensity over the last few weeks, it was still no-doubt a wound that was slowly and surely healing. This den was too big for her, it's walls once originally built to house both her parents and their pups. And now she lay by herself, her scent becoming the strongest of them among the layers that had managed to build up over the years. No longer was she a pup, but a strong, wise and thoughtful Alphess, as her brother had grown to fill in the rank of a proud and mighty Delta. Eureka was incredibly proud to call Draco her family.
With the thought of family strongly set in her mind, Eureka eventually slid her body from within the cozy encasing of her den, the autumn chill hanging as thick in the air as the frost did cling to the blades of grass set under-paw. Any day now the snow would begin falling, a hassle to some and a joy to others. A twitch of a smile found it's way to her lips as she imagined the pups frolicking through the stark-white coverage that would soon be on its way. Perhaps she would even join them in their fun...but that was for the future, and for today, she had plans of travel if Violet would be alright holding down the fort and if Draco would agree to accompany her.
But for now, she would wait for the wolves of Somnus--her wolves--to stir from the cozy warmth of their dens, and it was excitement that bubbled in her chest at the thought of Somnus's hopeful future under her guidance.

| | Violet's had been a little shaken by the fact that there had been a rogue in their territory, crazed with hunger that he was going to threaten to kill one of her packmates. But as Ocean had handled it, the female knew that everyone in the pack would be safe. She didn't want another tragedy, not another one after the previous ones they had encountered. Somnus needing an uplifting in spirit, and the hope for new romance was high in the air, especially with how Draco and Aelin had been acting around each other. It seemed to be a rather cute and developing love interest, and she was surprised to see that the tough Draco was finding himself bending to a female's will. She wasn't sure if that was good for the male, to know that he wasn't a headstrong and determined wolf like he thought he was. He wanted the same thing as everyone else. A family, and friends. Violet could remember the days he acted like such things were bothersome and a waste of time. But now he would finally see what Violet and the others strive for so much.
Not only had romanced blossomed in the younger wolves, but in the older wolves as well. As Azaelia had stepped down from the Alphess position, granting it to Eureka to be her successor, it seemed that Azaelia and Ocean had rekindled a love that was assumed lost. The only bad news was that River had passed. But she had grown old, and served her time well to the pack. She needed peace, and it seemed that she was given that peace. Lavender hues blinked once or twice as she brought herself back to the present, forgetting about the thoughts she had. She wasn't sure if she should take interest in another. If she should find a male, or if she should solemnly stick to her duties as the Beta of the pack. She would surely be able to do both, wouldn't she? But her duties would always be something she'd tend too diligently, so maybe thinking about settling down with someone was more of a dream for the white she-wolf.
Bringing herself to her paws, she would stretch her small body, yawning as she did so. Early mornings were always something of a blessing. Always giving one that time to wake up and enjoy the early chirping of birds during the spring, or during the fall to see the vibrant colors of the forest in the morning light. As she left her den, she looked towards the figure of Eureka. She had grown into her position well, although it semed that the young female had grown so fast in the blink of an eye. Smiling towards the younger, but more dominant figure, she would bring her snowy white body to stand next to the newly appointed Alphess, and let out a small yawn before speaking. "Anything planned for this morning?" The sweet tone of her voice stayed the same throughout her question.

Draco was sleeping peacefully, dreaming about all the different things that he thought about constantly. The most consistent thing in his mind was Aelin. The beautiful white she-wolf that brought a smile to his face every single day that he saw her. He wasn't sure about anything he was feeling for his friend. Were they just friends, or were they more than that? Would she feel the same way if Draco told her? Or would he be shut down and rejected for what he thought? So many questions caused the male to toss and turn in his sleep. Soon enough, he awoke with a jolt, hitting his head on the roof of his slightly smaller than what he needed den. The large male hadn't thought out the fact that he would grow so large compared to everyone else, but with how busy he had been recently, he hadn't really expanded downwards so that the top wouldn't be so close for him to smack his head on constantly. But it was one of the things that he could do later, and not really care for in that moment. After hitting his head, he lowered it a little, shaking the dust from his ears and head. Letting his jaws gape open, his semi-yellow teeth were prominent as his lips peeled back over them. A morning yawn, something that was constant with all wolves that were to awake early in the morning. The cool air of outside swept across Draco's pelt as it entered his warm den. His fur had grown thicker since autumn had rolled around. It allowed him to not shiver as the cold breeze let its fingertips dance along the tendrils. Bringing himself to his feet in a crouch, he would bring his massive body out of the small den, looking around in the commons to see if anyone was there. As he was promoted to Delta, he couldn't help feeling a little taken aback that he wasn't chosen to become the Alpha of the pack. Draco was the first born from the litter, and therefore was the one that should have been leading the pack. But of course, he had been instead placed as Delta. Maybe everyone thought that he simply couldn't handle the position of Alpha, when he was more than capable of doing so. Or maybe it was because he did have a lot more aggression than Eureka. That could be why as well. He honestly wasn't sure which was true about the reason behind Azaelia appointing Eureka instead of himself. His siblings were all successful. Luke was the Alpha of Noctis, and Eureka was the Alphess of Somnus. While he was simply a Delta. A measly Delta that would never be anything more. It was a prestigious rank sure, but Delta's were wolves that were training to become a superior. Violet was an example of a Delta turning into a Beta, but he wasn't sure that was going to be the same with him. He wanted to have a prestigious title like his siblings, to have something he was proud of like they did. Shaking his head, he would look to see that his sister and Violet were both sitting in the clearing. He decided not to approach them, as they were probably talking about personal matters between themselves as the Alphess and Beta. He knew that was how Azaelia and Violet had acted before Azaelia had stepped down, so he was sure that the tradition would stay with Eureka, and the Beta and Alpha were the ones that made decisions for the pack. Giving a small sigh, he would turn his back on them, and would simply wait for something - or someone - to appear and occupy his time. Alphess Eureka Sentinel Aelin

O C E A N general of somnus
A bit of dirt fell from the roof of his den. For weeks, he'd wake up to stones in his ears and grime in his fur, and when autumn came, he'd find mire gluing the hairs of his stomach together. After Fran's death, it all began crumbling, withering away like his aged body and enervated mind. Azaelia's demotion devitalized him to an extremity that he thought he'd already reached just days before. It was everything she worked for, it was what she left him for, and she just threw it away.... For what reason? Because she had a case of atelophobia? He wanted to tell her that someone like her should never have any doubts about herself. There was no reason someone like her should wake up any given morning without loving herself.
Yet, she seemed happier now. There was a weight off of her shoulders, a freedom and a new relief that came with her retirement. She seemed younger, like a whole new chapter of her life was beginning instead of ending. Well, that's what Ocean felt when he looked at her, at least.
"Azae-" he saw Draco turn his back to Eureka and Violet. He was dissatisfied with his placement. Maybe it had something to do with Eureka's gender, or maybe Draco was just plain jealous. Whatever it was, Ocean understood his malcontent. The young wolf was a skilled adversary and a quick thinker, but a hasty advancer. Eureka, like Azaelia and River, took her time, and was more compassionate than any other pack member.
Ocean knew Draco too well. As a young wolf, Ocean fought his way to the top. He stuck his chest out, took down bucks, made important decisions quickly and without much thought; he was a dilettante of leadership. Eventually, he earned his rank as beta, but when it came down to it, Ocean was never trained to be a leader; he was only trained to be a warrior. Thus, as not to repeat a past mistake, Draco was appointed Delta so he could train as a sub-superior before being handed a more crucial title. It was for his own good.
Ocean made his way to Draco slowly, without drawing any attention. He growled softly by the young wolf's neck. "Your mother would kill you for that, you know." he commented under his breath. "Never turn your back on your superiors." Ocean knew Draco looked up to him. He'd been a parental figure to him ever since his father died, and Ocean did everything in his power to pass down Rage's principles to his son. Respecting one's superiors was one of those principles. Now that River had passed, Draco seemed like he had nobody to prove himself to anymore. Ocean understood this, probably, more than anybody. "Face reality and don't be a cat about it." Ocean nudged Draco's shoulder sardonically before wandering off again. As Draco got older, his skin got thicker, and sometimes it seemed like Ocean's words just bounced right off.
"Morning, Zee," he greeted with security fleeing his body. His lack of impression on Draco, which seemed to be apparent, convinced his body to sink down along with any hope that he'd accomplished anything after so much time mentoring the young wolf. He plopped down with a thud next to his old friend; his beautiful, lavender-eyed, honey-scented, wise old friend. God, how he's missed her.

Alphess Azaelia of Somnus | The air was crisp. She felt the kiss of autumn's zephyr brace her cheeks by way of the den-mouth, where in shone golden rays decked with floating beads of dust. Her paws were wet from the dew of the grass admitting itself at the entrance, and her tongue reached downwards to pass over the moisture in a soft lap whereafter water caressed her throat. Her skin was cool from the mire and the hydrated soil that packed the shelter, which encased her body overnight so that she may wake up refreshed, energized, and vitalized. It were mornings like these that dared Azaelia to question why she'd ever worried--about anything--before.
She heard Ocean begin to call, but immediately she found him heading towards Draco. Azaelia noticed his disrespectful behavior towards Eureka, but Ocean was the best one to address it. Draco had every reason to be frustrated, discontented and dissatisfied. His mother just passed away, his brother was gone, and his sister had climbed from omega to alphess in a matter of weeks, but Azaelia never identified with him like Ocean did. In fact, she would always see the general under Draco's skin every time she looked at the young male.
It was Eureka who she'd formed a bond with, furthermore after River passed away. The young female was bright, intelligent, and wise beyond her years. Her ability to keep the pack together during countless tragedies is exactly why Azaelia appointed her as alphess. When Draco was faced with hardships, he ran away, and even today after his mother has passed and he hadn't gotten the title he wanted, he turned his back on his family instead of being proud and supportive of it. Draco was placed exactly where he should have been--Ocean taught him how to be tough, but the he still had a lot to teach the new delta.
Ocean was back, this time with a complete sentence, although he still wasn't able to say her full name, which guilted her. They'd been close before Azaelia prioritized her duties, only to abandon them later. Ocean was never ambitious like she was, and when she stepped down and began experiencing the antigravity of relief, she realized that Ocean couldn't have ever forgotten. "Zee" was something only a companion would call her, and sorrow melted the muscles in her body as she fell limp on Ocean's shoulder. She regretted everything she'd put him through, and after it all, he still came back to her.
She sighed and pushed her breath into his fur, nuzzling the crater she'd engraved on the surface. "I've made all the wrong decisions, haven't I?" She lifted her head, neck aching to hang at the ground but knowing to rise in respects to Eureka, perhaps the only right decision she'd ever made.

The morning had finally come, and after multiple weeks within the homelands of the Somnus pack, Weayaya had found himself to be quite had home. The warmth of summer had all but begun to fade through this time, the brightness of the sun still remaining though the emerald greenery began to slip away. A breath of biting chills swept through, vibrant oranges and softened browns quickly taking over the surrounding lands. From what he'd heard, Autumn was coming, and from the questions that he'd asked, he'd learned that it was a cold time; one with minimal prey, minimal warmth, and minimal things to do but try to survive. It sounded tough- But! He was headstrong on the thought he'd make it. Yes! He was most certain of that.
It was with all the atmosphere's changes in season, that the young creature began to develop and alter himself. The slick coat of puppy fur he wore was being stripped away, and a thicker, more plush armour of warmth was engulfing him. Slender limbs had grown in height, making him taller, though the rest of him followed suit making sure he was evened out and looking more and more grown up. At one point, he had celebrated the fact he was maturing, he was 6 months old... And, he was proud of that achievement. What pup wouldn't be?
With the gleam of the days new awakening to pierce through the canopy above, Weayaya barely found himself budging. The glow that cascaded through his small den's entrance causing not a single bother for the well slumber trained creature. He enjoyed hiding away until the day bore more warmth, the enclosed walls of his chambers providing a cozy hug around his entirety. Sure, many had expected him to bunk with his more adored mother-like figure, Aelin, but he'd proven them wrong and taken to building his own, somewhat unstable hole in the ground. It was questionable, its structure wonky and awkward, but he seemed proud and content as he made his way to and from it throughout the day.
By now, multiple wolves would have awoken, the sounds of shuffling paws to be heard, faint greetings to linger on the forests breeze. It was all a disturbance to precious sleep, one that caused the young spitfire creature to puff a groaned breath. Would he ever get to continue his beauty sleep? Perhaps without the interruptions of those who found it a suitable time to arise and begin their day. It hadn't been long before his rounded, mandarin auricles suddenly fluttered- What was that?
Something strung itself through the weaving streams of air that coursed through the trees. A melody that intertwined with the softened song of the land. It was familiar- Too familiar. Weayaya let his head shoot up, mix-matched eyes wide with realisation as he felt his small heart trumpet through his chest. "Yiska!?" The sole yelp was aimed at himself and the emptiness of his den. Was it really her? It couldn't have been, but his heart made him believe otherwise.
Instantly he had himself drawn to his paws, ashen nails digging into the soil below as he slid free from the confines of his burrow. For a moment, he cast a half-glance towards where Aelin's den was, skimming across her mass if she were to be present in any manner, his eyes wide and tail thrashing as he caught a glimpse of Eureka, the Alphess, propped up in her usual spot- The need to ask permission never thought of. Quite literally, he bolted, his motions fast and determined as he galloped with wide gait across the now familiar terrain of his home. His breath harsh and rattled as he worked to wake himself properly, though failing quite a bit as he watched the blurred trees go past. He had no hesitation in his strides, he knew where he was going, where he was needed. The borders- They were dangerous, yes- They were off limits, yes- But he didn't seem to care about the consequences that may have been presented with his arrival if any other wolves were there.
The auburn pup was on a mission, and as far as anyone else could see, nothing would stop him... Not yet anyway.

| Eureka couldn't help but sigh, her hot breath mingling with the cool air to create a vapour that was carried away by the gentle breeze that danced through the grasses of Somnus. It was a battle that was waged in her mind, different ideas and thoughts fighting for a moment in the spotlight as the young Alphess contemplated what she would be doing this morning. So far, three thoughts had made themselves prominent and known to deserve her contemplation.
The first, of course, was the need for her wolves to hunt. The pack was always in need of food, each stomach eventually craving a morsel of food that could only be sedated by the fix of meat. The second was the task of re-marking the borders, a crucial and simple task that was a necessity for keeping intruders away from their home. The third was the want to travel with Draco and visit their brother, Luke. It was a semi-selfish desire, as she wished to see how her sibling fared as well as telling him about their mother's passing.
Eureka had no time to decide on which idea would win, as the all-too familiar presence of Violet drifted to her side. The Alphess smiled at her Beta's warm arrival, perhaps she could assist this internal battle of hers. "Anything planned for this morning?" Violet's sweet tones brought a comfort to Eureka's heart and a delicate laugh to mutter from her maw. "I was hoping you'd be able to help me with that decision," Eureka answered honestly, her caramel gaze drifting from her friend as movement in her peripherals caught her attention. Draco had stirred from his slumber, hulking form glancing away from herself and Violet. Eureka's hopes sunk as she watched her brother practically dismiss the thought of talking to her.
Perhaps it would be good for them to travel to Noctis together...this thought was soon abruptly cut off as the echoing sound of foreign howls pierced the clam atmosphere. Rogues were standing at her borders and calling for her attention, this only making her brow curl into a furrow. "Looks like my decision has been made for me." Eureka huffed as she rose to her paws, the wind blowing through her fur and brining the distant scents that confirmed the presence of strangers, however, this was only a short-lived notice as a younger voice cut through the Commons, these vocals carrying the sound of a foreign name. Eureka's attention instantly shifted to the sight of an earth-toned male as he began towards the borders, her heat leaping into her throat as she realised it was one of the pups. If anything happened to the youngling...she gave herself no time to think about the worst as she began to look around the Commons.
Eureka didn't want to go alone, and she didn't trust herself to be able to defend the pup if anything went wrong. Optics flickered to Ocean. She needed muscle with her, someone who would intimidate and protect, but she needed advice as well, a second opinion and someone she could trust to help her. Optics flickered to Violet.
Instinct was what drove her to make a decision. "Draco, you'll come with me to the borders." Ultimately she had settled for the middle ground. Draco was strong enough to defend, and she could trust him to give a reasonable opinion. Eureka gave a swift brush of her tail against Violet before she left, a silent farewell to the older female who would be left in charge while she was at the borders. Wasting no more time, the Alphess sprang after the young male, agile body following the scent of his trial while she trusted Draco not to stray too far. Hopefully the youngling wouldn't find too much trouble at the borders before they could arrive.

Sentinel Aelin The last few weeks had been indescribable. Promoted to the title of Sentinel, as well as gaining the responsibility of the Guardian, Aelin had worked hard to prove herself as an asset to the pack, as well as building bonds with her fellows, especially the two younger ones that had been placed under her care. But what would have been obvious to some and an oblivious matter to others was that the elegant and composed lady had let her guard down, and Aelin's life had suddenly flipped into that of a fervent fever-dream, all because of that one handsome face. Every time he even appeared in her thoughts her chest would constrict and her perfectly organised mentality would turn to mush. It was completely and wholeheartedly undeniable; Aelin was in love.
She had sprawled her smaller body at the entrance to her den, the space that she had claimed as her own was a warm comfort amid the chill that clung thickly to the Somnus air. It was autumn, arguably her favourite season because of all the beautiful colours that graced the coverage of the trees, as well as the sunset which seemed to come sooner and look ever-so vibrant.
Golden optics seemed to drift towards the movement of another, Alphess Eureka to be exact. With a curt sigh, she shifted her legs underneath her body, knowing that as the Alphess rose the rest of the pack would follow suit. Sure enough, Violet, Ocean and Azaelia had begun to stir, and among their faces stood Draco. She noticed the way that he looked away from his sister, Aelin knowing all too well that the male was confused, perhaps even disappointed as to why he himself was not given the title of Alpha. She had her opinions on this matter, Draco’s power and Eureka’s wisdom being factors in this muddle. But in the end, she had no say in it, and for now, she was happy with the way the pack was running.
It was a call from the borders that distracted her train of thoughts, a twitch of her ear indicating that she had indeed heard it. Aelin’s ivory crown slowly lifted off her paws, her steady gaze forcing itself away from the frame of Draco and towards Eureka. As a Sentinel, it was her job to monitor the borders and everything that coincided with it’s happenings. There was a chance that she would be called upon the inspect the calling, but it was a sharp bark ringing through the commons that had her on edge. It was Weayaya, a foreign and unknown name bouncing off his tongue as his figure darted towards the borders. Aelin’s heart leapt into her throat as she shot to her paws. “Weayaya!” She called out to the pup, hoping to catch his attention in order to stop him from proceeding towards the dangers of the unknown. He did not stop. “Weayaya!” The plead for him to stop was thick in her tone, worry pounding at her chest as the pup soon disappeared into the foliage. Every motherly instinct yelled at her to follow, the chase after the youngling whom she treated as her own. But she knew that she had no right to follow him at this moment, the decision of who would continue after Weayaya and to the rogues lay in Eureka’s decision.
As soon as she heard Draco’s name be called, hope sparked in her chest. She turned to the brutish male, trotting over to his side hopefully before he was able to leave. “Please keep him safe.” Was all she pleaded, knowing that she could not hold him up for too long.
Aelin trusted Draco to bring him home in one piece, she knew that the male would protect him. And it was this console that eased the worry that pounded in her chest. After the Alphess and her Delta had left, Aelin’s golden eyes shifted around the commons, hoping to find the white figure of Caleb. Hopefully her second responsibility wouldn’t prove to be as much trouble as the other this morning. She truely couldn’t stand the thought of both of them being in danger. Draco knew that Ocean and some of the others would have difficulty accepting the fact that he had turned his back on his sister. Especially considering that his sister was now the Alphess. Even so, he didn't feel obligated to listen to Ocean's words. He may look up to the male, but Draco had thick skin. Sure it hurt to hear that his mother would be disappointed in the fact that he was acting this way, but any wolf that was told he would be the successor, but then wasn't, always seemed to sting a little bit. But he had to accept it. Bringing himself to look towards the borders as there was a howl, he looked towards Weayaya with alarm as the little male went running off towards the borders, talking about someone named 'Yiska'. He wasn't sure what exactly had gotten into the male, but Aelin was short to follow, worrying for her little adopted pup. He looked towards Eureka, wondering what she was going to do about it, and she simply called on him to come with her to the borders. Giving a small growl, it seemed like she knew that his attitude today was a bit sour compared to others. But she just had to keep rubbing it in. Standing up, he looked to Aelin, a soft gentle gaze coming over his form. He knew that she cared for the yearling, and Draco cared for Aelin.
"I will be sure that he returns safely," He whispered to her, giving her a kind flick of his tail against her shoulder, to reassure her. Looking towards Eureka, they would both set off to the borders at the same time, although Draco falling a couple steps ahead of Eureka. Somewhere deep inside, he knew that he needed to protect his sister, no matter how much he hated not being the successor.

O C E A N general of somnus
The two of them shared an equal measure of dissonant sentiments. Azaelia was weak in masking her guilt, and Ocean's masculinity seemed to crumble like the dry autumn leaves as he scorched in her pity, but the simple touch of her nose to his shoulder raised him above all doubts and excited his nerves like it would an angsty young brute's. Ocean reminisced in that feeling, the same one he'd find on the route to Ferus from the brush lands, and to Somnus from Ferus, then to the lake from the commons.... And that was the end of it. It was after that last route that he had forgotten what it felt like to be loved.
"Only in doubting yourself," he began after watching the pack members escape to the outskirts. He didn't feel threatened or worried this time. He rested with confidence as Draco took his leave, and Ocean considered that achievement of his own. Perhaps, now, he could retire and meet at Azaelia's den-side like this every morning.
"You've done your job better than anyone else could have. You deserve your rest after so many years." When Azaelia lifted her cheek from his fur, a warm crater full of her breath delighting his shoulder, Ocean realized it wasn't only her duties she was referring to. He didn't dare respond about his feelings for her, at least not here. He didn't want to hear how sorry she was for breaking his heart and shutting him out; he knew she wasn't yet ready to let him back in.
He looked out to the empty yonder which would soon be filled with yapping rogues begging at Somnus's feet for permanent residence in in their home. He sighed at the thought of that impending mayhem, but sat tall and full next to Azaelia, ears only flickering as Weayaya shouted and bounded off to the borders with striving youth. He forced his eyes to stay fixated on the scenery, rather than gliding shyly to Azaelia, when thoughts of pups flooded his imagination. He'd always wanted to raise his own offspring, but he was never fond of young pups. His fearsome behavior, let alone appearance, caused worry to settle that his children would never love him, only fear him. He was no genius, either. There was nothing respectable about him besides his physicality.
Yet, dreaming of a future with Azaelia made him melt at longing for little balls of silky fur weaving between his tall limbs, and curling up beside him and their mother in the tight, comfortable quarters of a fitting den. Every time he looked at her, his entire perspective of life changed.
After a long intake of air, Ocean looked to the ground, speaking in a soft voice that he didn't recall ever using before.
"I miss you, Zee." He closed his eyes. "More than I can bear."
