A pair of crystalline, ocean blue eyes fluttered open as dim golden light trickled into the shallow hole the young male called his den, alerting him of the arriving morning. Raising his head from where it had before rested on his paws, Caleb gazed about his den. His eyes flicked to the nearby opening, catching sight of the brightening early-day sky outside. While his compact burrow was warm and cozy, the air circulating at its mouth had a chill to it. The male’s first autumn was upon him, a fact that excited the young male. It thrilled him to see the leaves as they began to change their colors, to feel the crispness of the air.
With a contented sigh, the young wolf settled back down and rolled to his side. His white flank rose with each gentle breath. Caleb had grown significantly over the past month living in his new home - as he had come to call Somnus. He had matured physically, his silvery puppy fur fading away into a long, thick white pelt. Meanwhile, he had also matured mentally; the fear and anxiety that had plagued him upon his arrival had faded, giving way to a curious and playful young male.
A sharp yelp from outside his den sent the ivory pup’s body whirling into a low crouch. The voice was familiar - it had belonged to Weayaya, the other slightly older male who had arrived at the same time as Caleb. Peeking his head out of his shelter’s opening, the male barely caught sight of a vibrant blur streaking into the trees; Weayaya. Concern settled in the pit of Caleb’s stomach. Is he alright? he wondered. He certainly hoped so.
Catching sight of a alabaster form across the commons, the male pulled himself from his shallow burrow. The pup’s stride wasn’t entirely graceful as he strode toward his guardian, what with his growing legs, but he was managing quite well. He made it quickly over to the female. Aelin had taken on the role of both sentinel and guardian over the past month, and as such was now in charge of caring for Weayaya and himself. The chalky pup greeted her with a smile and a respectful nod as he made his way over to her.
“Good morning, Aelin!” he said brightly, looking up at the older female. He threw a quick glance to where Weayaya had disappeared toward the borders. “I saw Wea run off,” he murmured, turning back toward Aelin. “Is he okay?”

Sentinel Aelin Deep breaths. She needed to take deep breaths. Draco would make sure to keep Weayaya safe, and besides, Eureka wouldn't let him go unfound anyways, right? Aelin could only console herself as she felt anxiety pulse through her body. Too many thoughts barraged her mind, like what if he got hurt? Or why did he run towards the borders anyway? She had to repressed her the overwhelming amount of guilt that settled down into her stomach. She had to keep a level head. She had to stay calm.
Breathe in. Breathe out.
“Good morning, Aelin!” A familiar voice sent a wave of relief flooding over her body, molten gold eyes coming to a rest on the pearl-coloured pelt that belonged to none other than Caleb. At least one of her responsibilities was safe this morning. "Good morning, Caleb." She replied with a surprisingly calm tempo, smiling at the younger male with a mother's gratitude.
“I saw Wea run off, is he okay?” The pup murmured with concern. It was a wondrous thing to see that he was worried about his companion, but Aelin had to stop herself from shifting nervously on her paws as she kept a comforting aura to her frame. "I'm sure he'll be fine. I asked Draco to keep him safe, so he shouldn't get into too much trouble." Aelin answered, a morning rasp still clinging to her voice slightly.
"Were you warm enough last night?" She asked, dragging her worries away from Weayaya's dash and disappearance and instead began wondering if the young male's den was warm enough. Aelin would have hated for him to catch a cold, and even though his winter coat had starting to grow through onto his expanding frame, the she-wolf was still willing to go to great length to make sure that her pups were as content as possible. | It was a graceful stride that carried the beauty towards the Commons, her flouncing oaken winter coat being ruffled by the gentlest breeze that seemed to dance through the area. Eureka felt her muscles loosen as soon as she stepped foot within the boundaries of the Commons, a deep sigh being emitted as she inhaled the scent of familiarity. Caramel optics gently drifted towards the two pups that had accompanied her side throughout the duration of the trek home, a warm smile spreading over her lips as she looked upon the two siblings reunited. Flashing memories of her other brother who resided in a whole different pack seemed to drift into her thoughts, but they were pieces of nostalgia that she could reminisce on at a later time. "Weayaya, you and Yiska might want to go over to Aelin for now. She was very worried about your disappearance, and I think she would be delighted to meet your beautiful sister." She spoke softly to the young male, giving his raven-hued counterpart a playful wink before she drifted away from the duo.
Eureka's visage was set upon the group of new-comers as she circled into the middle of the Commons. An evaluative stare was given to each of them, her mind running over what ranks would suit who, while she also began to wonder if any of her older pack-mates deserved new ranks. Time would tell.
Raising her golden muzzle to the air, she let a crystalline howl ring through the Commons in a call for anyone who was still sleeping to emerge from their dens, and for those who had already awoken to gather around in order to hear what was to be said.
"I am proud to introduce to Somnus a bunch of bright and promising faces that have been added to our numbers," Eureka began quite clearly, hoping that by now everyone had found a place to stand or sit while she spoke. "You will all have the chance to mingle and introduce yourselves, but before that, I would like to give out an assortment of ranks to those who have joined us." She visually sifted through the gathered faces, wondering where exactly she would start. A handsome face among the crowd made the decision for her as his name immediately jumped from her mouth. "Topaz, Uzumati, Trico and Storm, you four will be receiving the rank of Hunter for today, I hope that you each do well within this placement and work hard to provide the mouths of Somnus with suitable sustenance." She began with a small nod, reaffirming with herself that these ranks would be suitable temporary ranks until she learnt the true talents of these more-so strongly built males. "Cosmo and Wanda, you will also be given the rank of Hunter, as well as Scout. Sharing the title of Scout will be Wiggles, Dorsey Hiccup and Ravus who will work under the guidance of our Sentinel."
Eureka couldn't stop herself from glancing towards Azaelia–wherever she was positioned–and wondering if the elder would have made similar delegations if she had've been in Eureka's position instead. The young Alphess may have felt confident with the decisions that she came to, but she would forever be comparing herself to Azaelia and River. Would she be considered a great leader as they had once been? Eureka could only hope that she was leading Somnus on the right path.
"For those of you who are new here, please feel free to find or build a den for yourself, and of course, don't be afraid to introduce yourself to your new pack-mates." Eureka finished with a small nod to those who had gathered, a small smile lifting her cheeks as she slowly lowered her rump to the ground, hoping to see those she had brought with her from the borders disperse, mingle and explore. She would probably end up occupying Violet's company if nobody was brave enough to approach her.

Topaz"Great things never came form comfort zones."
Icily cool, captivating amber eyes searched the Common Grounds upon entry. This was home now. The word danced through Topaz’s mind, odd and forgotten. Flicking cinnamon auricles passively, he dismissed the uneasy feeling that threatened to spill into his usually placid expression. It was truly stunning, sunlight filtering through the leaves and branches, casting a wonderful light on the wolves below. An odd sense of warmth soothed his senses, numbing the usual sharpness of his judgemental optics. He was, to say the least, pleased with his new pack. Waving his thickly coated tail slowly, the handsome wolf parted himself from the rest of the newbies, pressing gently to the front of the gathering.
Before he could spot the rest of the pack, a crystalline voice hit the air with a sense of purpose. Turning his cranium to gaze at the owner of the voice, he was greeted with the form of the Alphess. She addressed her pack, introducing the rogues - no - new pack members, before turning back towards the array of limbs. Before he could react to her announcement, his own name slapped him across the face, followed by another jumble of words. He was quickly labeled as a Hunter. A small grin tugged at the corner of his lips, perhaps it wasn’t his best area, but it wasn’t Omega. After a couple more Hunters were established, along with some Scouts, they were all released to mingle freely among the pack.
Taking a soft inhale, Topaz’s eyeline locked with a slightly familiar pair of ears, before lowering to golden hued paws. Eureka. Already towering over her, he merely relaxed his shoulders, his best attempt at being respectful without crouching down like a cowering cat. “Hey,” He offered her a casual greeting, dipping his paw tentatively into the water, if you will. He didn’t want to be the same as everyone, who approached her with a load of shit. ‘Ma’am’ ‘Sorry’ ‘Excuse me’. She was a young wolf, with her own personality and features. Not something to fear.

Large alabaster paws padded into the common grounds at the back of the group, his form still walking next to Ravus. The smaller male had drifted closer as they walked to the commons, and Uzu had gladly stayed beside him, glad to offer comfort to the other male. They hadn't spoken yet, they simply walked in silence as the scents of their new pack grew stronger around them. The cooling breeze buffeted his plush coat lightly, not quite piercing through to his skin just yet. The albino giant was no stranger to the extreme cold, so for now, the autumn winds didn't bother him much. It seemed that they had crossed an invisible boundary between general territory and commons, as from far ahead, Uzumati could see the Alphess dip her head down and speak to the siblings that had reunited at the borders. Padded white ears couldn't quite pick up on her words, but considering that she was talking to the pair, he assumed that the group of eleven new members were going to talked to soon as well. Alphess Eureka raised her muzzle, allowing her melodic howl to occupy the commons. Lifting his head as high as it could go, Uzu looked for Wiggles (if he wasn't already beside him). Once his mismatched gaze found the smaller male, he asked, "Where do you want to sit Wiggles? I'll follow you," Lowering his head to the height of Ravus', Uzumati hummed lightly, flicking his head to the right in a silent invitation for Ravus to join them. Uzu would hate to see the inwards male be off alone again in a sea of wolves, but he had no control over what Ravus did, so an invitation was the best he could do. Switching his attention back to Wiggles, he moved towards the cream wolf, halting his large frame beside him and sitting himself down "I am proud to introduce to Somnus a bunch of bright and promising faces that have been added to our numbers. You will all have the chance to mingle and introduce yourselves, but before that, I would like to give out an assortment of ranks to those who have joined us," Eureka began, her eyes scanning over the faces of the wolves she had brought into her home. There was a short pause before she continued, "Topaz, Uzumati, Trico and Storm, you four will be receiving the rank of Hunter for today, I hope that you each do well within this placement and work hard to provide the mouths of Somnus with suitable sustenance." His plum and pink eyes blinked to the Alphess alongside a small head dip with appreciation of his rank before they scanned through the crowd, identifying the three other males that had been named in the Hunter rank. It took a few seconds to positively identify all three, but he managed to do so before the Alphess began speaking again. They were all the overly large males, and he presumed when hunting that was a good quality, but he hoped that the young Alphess also had some lighter wolves in the hunting party; wolves able to move quickly and chase any large prey. "Cosmo and Wanda, you will also be given the rank of Hunter, as well as Scout. Sharing the title of Scout will be Wiggles, Dorsey Hiccup and Ravus who will work under the guidance of our Sentinel," she exhausted the list of new members. Uzu nudged Wiggles lightly, careful not to over balance him too much and sent him toppling. He would smile at Ravus, no matter whether he was beside him or not, excited for all of the wolves around him with their new ranks. Cosmo and Wanda were definitely much lighter than the quartet of males that were names as hunters, so Uzu presumed that they would be part of the speed while most of the other males would be a better brawn. "For those of you who are new here, please feel free to find or build a den for yourself, and of course, don't be afraid to introduce yourself to your new pack-mates," Eureka dismissed her new pack members. Abnormal eyes finally turned their attention to any other wolves that were present in the commons. A golden she-wolf and an ebony brute seemed to be having a conversation, two pearly she-wolves stood elsewhere, one with the two pups and the other alone, Eureka was being approached by Topaz, and few other wolves littered the commons. Tilting his head down to address Wiggles directly, Uzu inquired, "Do you want to talk to anyone, Wigs?" He gave the smaller male a nickname similar to the one he had been bestowed, testing it out for the first time with that sentence. He patiently awaited any response fro his friend, occasionally flicking his gaze around to the other Somnus wolves, simply observing his surroundings to bide his time. Alphess Eureka @wiggles @ravus

Dorsey Hiccup "Wanna Play?"
Dorsey Hiccup entered the Common and, unlike some of the others, immediately fell to a halt. His ears pushed against his rumpled mane and his eyes fell to become plastered on the ground. Gosh, he didn't know there were so many rocks in the dirt. He had never felt the need to look at the ground so intensely before in his whole, short life. The pink-nosed wolf shifted awkwardly as he pushed inward like he was trying to hide in an invisible turtle shell. He glanced up a little too late as he noticed Eureka lifting her head to howl. Calling more wolves to attention? Perhaps this had been a terrible idea after all since his previous instinct of balling up and hiding away was trying desperately to take hold of Dorsey. He tried to fight it but ended up somewhere in between with his spine arched like a cat's and head pulled in, tail curled tightly against his stomach whilst his legs were pushed outward like he was trying to play bow. To anyone who didn't no him, basically everyone there, they would probably think he had something wrong with him. His struggle was apparent but he could care less what others thought as he did his best to lift fearful ears to Eureka's voice.
"I am proud to introduce to Somnus a bunch of bright and promising faces that have been added to our numbers, you will all have the chance to mingle and introduce yourselves, but before that, I would like to give out an assortment of ranks to those who have joined us." The pink-nosed wolf pulled himself somewhat from his struggled state as his heart dropped back to where it was supposed to be in his chest, not his throat. Her gentle and calming voice soothed Dorsey greatly as she continued to speak and he would slowly continue to relax until he was left in a calm but submissive and lowered position. "Topaz, Uzumati, Trico and Storm, you four will be receiving the rank of Hunter for today, I hope that you each do well within this placement and work hard to provide the mouths of Somnus with suitable sustenance." The dusty pelted wolf sighed quietly. He didn't have the pressure of having to hunt lying heavy on his shoulders. That was a big reassurance. "Cosmo and Wanda, you will also be given the rank of Hunter, as well as Scout. Sharing the title of Scout will be Wiggles, Dorsey Hiccup and Ravus who will work under the guidance of our Sentinel." A scout? That was alright. He had never trusted his senses much but maybe he could learn too under this Sentinel that she spoke of. Dorsey glanced around the gathered crows, curious eyes hoping to pick out this wolf from the rest. He wasn't exactly successful.
"For those of you who are new here, please feel free to find or build a den for yourself, and of course, don't be afraid to introduce yourself to your new pack-mates," Looking around, the pink-nosed wolf found a couple of white wolves, both which seemed friendly enough. Quietly trotting forward, Dorsey unfurled himself slightly more as his tail tried to wag while still pressed against his cotton furred stomach. "Huh-huh..." Dorsey Hiccup fell silent without finishing, violet and lavender hued gaze flickering around at nothing in particular. He retracted again slightly but his face held a hopeful smile and his ears stood tall in curiosity, paws grinding into the loose ground while he begged them silently to introduce themselves first. Dorsey just wasn't good at this kind of thing.

Wynston "You Can't Change Things For The Better Unless You Take A Leap."
Wynston trotted into the commons, his whole body wanting to wiggle and leap about happily which made it hard to restrain himself. The one-eyed pup glanced around at the other wolves, noticing the younger she-pup and her, um... brother? Friend? walking close to the Alphess before splitting off toward a fluffy white she-wolf. Wynston almost wanted to follow but didn't. He had an important question for the Alphess, very, very important. He started trotting toward her, his small ebony socked paws moving quickly but he stopped when she howled. Was she signaling a meeting or something? He retracted backward quickly when he watched the other wolves perk their ears to listen, turning to watch her with steady and curious eyes. The ebony adolescent curved inward and sat down, sweeping a scrawny tail around his hind legs, singular eye looking upward with expectations and interest.
The beginning of her speech was boring, at least in his juvenile mind. he drew little pictures in the dirt with his claws and groomed his coat. He didn't mean to be disrespectful, he just didn't know not to do so and his energy was overflowing. he wanted to play or explore which he at least knew not to do whilst his superior was talking to the whole pack. Some words he didn't get but he quickly understood when she began assigning ranks. Wynny's ears stood tall atop his head and he sat up as straight as possible. "Topaz, Uzumati, Trico and Storm, you four will be receiving the rank of Hunter for today, I hope that you each do well within this placement and work hard to provide the mouths of Somnus with suitable sustenance. Cosmo and Wanda, you will also be given the rank of Hunter, as well as Scout. Sharing the title of Scout will be Wiggles, Dorsey Hiccup and Ravus who will work under the guidance of our Sentinel." His heart fell. He so badly wanted to be a scout so he could confront other wolves, patrol, explore, learn.
"For those of you who are new here, please feel free to find or build a den for yourself, and of course, don't be afraid to introduce yourself to your new pack-mates." Wynny nodded and although his ears drooped slightly and he was disappointed, he wasn't going to give up easily. Wynston hopped to his paws, teetered a moment, and hurried to Eureka who was already speaking to someone. That interesting wolf. He should talk to him soon too. Hurrying up, the pup cast his one-eyed gaze just below the Alphess's golden muzzle before starting in a hopeful voice. "Mizz, do you..." He repeated the words in his head again before finishing. "Think I could go with the scouts or hunters? To learn." His words were a little robotic but he said it all understandably. Hopefully. He looked up at her with a pleading face as he tried desperately to express how much he wanted to with the other wolves.

Alphess Azaelia of Somnus | Only in doubting herself, Ocean suggested. Azaelia variantly hinged her head in dissatisfaction to his response, but neither him nor anyone else could have provided any consolation for her insecurity. She supposed, with considerable irresolution, things were laid out the way they were under some judicious predestination; She rightfully gave up her shamefully romantic temptations with Ocean, and all potential candidates that may have gained her interest throughout her life, to focus on her work and provide for her family only to have her original lover waiting for her, ready to be tried under less angsty circumstances, the moment she'd fulfilled her purpose. It was funny to her that after all these years of progress, she'd ended up back in the same arms.
His voice was sweet and tragic, and for the latter she felt guilty having brought such things upon him, when he expressed his feelings to her. She tore her eyes away from the scene in an immediate rush of desire to see what sort of expression would accompany such a voice, and found his ambers softly shut.
"I," she started, just in time for Eureka to appear from the tree-line with a trail of rogues following closely behind, faces shining with reassurance and gratitude. Azaelia trusted Eureka's judgement, yet sunk into her pit of grass as she spoke with such eloquence, some lifeless aura haunting her image, using big words that she'd never used before. After all of the training Azaelia put her through, she must have taken away Eureka's spirit. Remembering her own dismal loss of her vitality and inner being as she became entrapped by her responsibilities as alpha, she felt her limbs nearly reach out to Eureka, silently begging her to stay who she's always been, for her own sake. Ending up like herself was the last torment she'd wish upon anybody.
"Hello everyone," called Azaelia once everyone had finished talking amongst themselves. At this point, she had left Ocean's side after having brushed her flank against his to indicate an apologetic leave from the conversation.
"I'm Azaelia, the previous head of Somnus. I guess you could call me an elder now," she chuckled with a bright smile across her tired face, still shining with her youthful compassion. "I'm very pleased to meet you all. Welcome to our family." Azaelia couldn't resist the wagging of her tail. The newest batch of pack members wouldn't have a single clue what Azaelia's handled over the years, and today she'd begin with a new rank and a clean slate.

Salutary Murdoch Of Somnus
Murdoch opened his eyes and yawned in satisfaction. The day was fine, not warm at all but instead holding the crisp shiver of the cool autumn air. Rain was no where to be seen and the sky was kind of clear, promising livable weather for the meantime. Peeking his head from his den he noticed that the other Somnus wolves were mostly awake or trying to be. He glanced around to see Eureka and Violet chatting softly with one another and smiled gently. It was certainly different with Eureka as Alphess but the Salutary had no doubts that she would be just as amazing in her new position as her predecessor, Azaelia, was. "Yiska!?" His head jerked up from it's relaxed position only to see an excited blur of dawn colored fur hurl through the Common Grounds and toward the Borders. "Weayaya?" Murdoch mumbled, confused and still sleepy. Why was the pup going to the Borders all alone so early in the morning. Yiska? Who was that? The silvery brute looked with worry after the pup, noticing that he wasn't the only one. The pack's Guardian and Sentinel, Aelin, was taking it hard. “Weayaya! Weayaya!” Pulling himself to his paws, the brute looked after the pup. It seemed the Alphess and Delta were going after him and he could only wonder if Eureka would find another wolf at the borders besides this Yiska.
The pack was small and new members wouldn't be a bad thing. Getting to know some strangers and giving the pack some more hard workers was anything but a bad thing. With a gentle sigh, Murdoch looked around him. Aelin was worrying and fretting, Azaelia and Ocean were talking privately and the rest seemed to be fine alone. Caleb went to comfort poor Aelin and Murdoch waited until she had answered his current question before trotting jauntily up to them with a bright smile on his face. "Good Morning Aelin!" His cheer, he hoped, would brighten the mood slightly. Turning to the pup, the brute grinned. "Morning Caleb! Gosh, you've grown a lot." He planted himself close to them, tail wagging gently behind him. "I hope you two are doing alright this morning. It's a pretty fine day today huh?" It was Caleb's first autumn so the young pup probably had some exploring or learning planned when he would get the chance. Murdoch settled slightly in his position, shifting his weight from one side to his center to become more comfortable.
It wasn't too long of a time before he heard a large group of wolves approaching. Murdoch turned to watch the new group in interest. Eureka was in front with both Weayaya and a small ashen female with them. A happy smile spread across his face when he saw the pup safe and happy. Eureka dismissed them toward Aelin before crossing to the Common's center. Her howl was warm, holding a faint melody within it's bright sound. "I am proud to introduce to Somnus a bunch of bright and promising faces that have been added to our numbers," The silvery brute looked to the new Somnus wolves. They all seemed kind and capable, some more so then others. "You will all have the chance to mingle and introduce yourselves, but before that, I would like to give out an assortment of ranks to those who have joined us." Murdoch replaced his gaze to the Alphess as she continued. He would see about meeting some of these new wolves soon enough.
Sharing the title of Scout will be Wiggles, Dorsey Hiccup and Ravus who will work under the guidance of our Sentinel." Doc looked over the wolves she had mentioned and grinned at them in congratulations. "For those of you who are new here, please feel free to find or build a den for yourself, and of course, don't be afraid to introduce yourself to your new pack-mates." She's grown and changed so much. She held so much maturity in her voice and stance now. Murdoch wagged his tail toward his new pack-mates, happy to see some new faces. Some quickly found others to speak with and even Eureka found conversation with one of the new Hunters, along with the other pup, this one older then Wea's friend, who intervened.
The silvery brute stood and stretched, planning to pick out a new pack-mate or two to talk to. "Hello everyone, I'm Azaelia, the previous head of Somnus. I guess you could call me an elder now," Murdoch smiled humorously as she chuckled. "I'm very pleased to meet you all. Welcome to our family." With a soft sigh, the brute pulled himself to his large paws and shook his bushy coat, gazing around him to find a newer wolf to talk too.

As always, Trico was set on keeping a good pace and staying near the front of the group. He almost got away with walking alone, just until a smaller male decided to tag along at his side. He appeared half curious about Trico, nodding curtly but refusing to speak. What was this, a show of dominance? Was he sizing him up? Or was this a failed attempt at conversating? Trico hadn't even care to nod back, simply turning his large cranium back to the Alphess ahead of him. Though, he couldn't just leave the dude feeling like an idiot, so Trico had voiced a polite 'hello' before leaving the two in silence, only to walk next to each other. The beast was already off to an awful start regarding his social abilities. It haunted his mind for a brief period as they trotted through the beautiful forest, the idea that he would just turn into the loner of Somnus that everyone knew but didn't talk to. With the way things were going, the thought seemed realistic, and quite frankly he would care less. As long as he had something to work on to better the quality of life in Somnus, he was perfectly happy. This then brought up the thought of someone trying to force themselves into his life. Of the rogues he had seen, there was no female that had even remotely captured his eye, besides maybe the Alphess, and that was mainly because she was so small and cute. Like a little mouse next to a wild pig. Trico had never really displayed feelings for any she-wolf in his lifetime, fearing that he may never. His life was so bland and tasteless, but there was nothing he could change about that alone. Thoughts of a mate and pups faded quickly as the big group emerged into what he assumed was the commons, teaming with life. It was beautiful. Perhaps Trico would never change his introverted ways, but he definitely did not regret his decision traveling to the Somnus borders. No wonder the rogues had most of the crappy land, all the beauty in life was being hidden away behind packland borders. After an awakening howl to gather all of the members, the Alphess would speak up in regards to the fairly large mass of new smells that littered their commons. " You will all have the chance to mingle and introduce yourselves, but before that, I would like to give out an assortment of ranks to those who have joined us. Topaz, Uzumati, Trico and Storm, you four will be receiving the rank of Hunter for today, I hope that you each do well within this placement and work hard to provide the mouths of Somnus with suitable sustenance." Ranks already? None of them had even proven that they really were skilled in a given field. Then again, maybe this was just temporary until select wolves showed higher skills. Being a hunter was an easy basic skill, and Trico would perform his new job to the best of his abilities. He couldn't leave his fellow members to starve, though he was friends with none, and likewise if he failed taking down a large kill, he would not return until he had something to offer. The mind of a soldier. Trico listened carefully to the ranks assigned to the others, the only other being a scout. Eureka then dismissed them all to mingle or create dens. Anyone who knew the brute knew that he would automatically pick working over relaxing. Right as he turned his head to move off, another voice introduced itself to himself and the others. " I'm Azaelia, the previous head of Somnus. I guess you could call me an elder now. I'm very pleased to meet you all. Welcome to our family." she spoke kindly. Like the kind lad he was, Trico would respectfully dip his head towards the former Alphess as if saying 'thank you for your service', a small smile resting on his features before he trotted off to pinpoint a resting location. Soon enough he would find a scentless and vacant dip in the ground, quite large and mostly covered over by a few sticks and leaves. He would have to find some larger sticks to cover himself from the cold of night and snow of winter, but it was big enough for the bear of a wolf.

His goofy companion didn't answer for a few seconds. Uzu presumed that he was simply drifting off into space; he knew that Wiggles could do that from time to time. Leaving him in his own little world, the albino beast scanned his gaze around the other wolves, seeing if any wanted to talk. A friendly face approached thankfully, so Uzu wouldn't have to leave Wiggles' side. As he looked at the wolf, he could help but notice the extreme similarities between them. Both had pink and purple eyes. Uzumati had never seen any other wolf with unique eyes like his, so he took the opportunity he had to study the male's face intently. They also shared a pink nose, which was one of the first things he had noticed about this wolf at the borders.
An odd sound escaped his lips, moving Uzu's ears forwards in an attempt to catch the words if he said them again, but he didn't, simply smiling up at him. Being polite, the alabaster male returned the gesture, taking the other male's silence as a cue to speak. "Hello! Dorsey, was it? My name's Uzumati," Uzumati introduced himself. He considered introducing Wiggles, but he allowed the male to stay in his own little world. "What do you think of Somnus so far?" Uzu tried to keep the conversation from stalling. He wanted to meet his new packmates, and why not start with Dorsey?

| As she had instructed, the group of gathered wolves dispersed. Various faces moving through the Commons, some not straying too far while others may have went to find themselves a quiet corner to claim as a den-site. But once again, a particular face among the crowd had caught her attention, caramel optics seemed to gravitate towards his larger figure which began to walk in her direction. Eureka's back became stiff as he approached, she had to look professional and collect, right?
“Hey,” his deep tones greeted quite casually, this small note of a relaxed company was enough to send Eureka's posture sagging back into something more loose and normal. The one word was enough to remind her that she wasn't suppose to be above everyone else all the time. It was her job to guide and nurture the wolves of Somnus, not rule over them like a strict and commanding dictator. It was strange that this male was able to remind her of that in such a simple manner, but it was enough for her to smile shyly at Topaz.
"Hello," she responded calmly, "You're a very brave wolf for approaching the big bad Alphess." Eureka joked with a small chuckle to accompany her words. It was nice to be able to ease her way into a comfortable mood around one of the newer pack-members. Perhaps it showed that she was naive and overly trusting, but she didn't want to make anyone feel like she was overly rule-abiding, and what better way than to make a joke?
"Mizz, do you..." Another voice caught Eureka's attention, her golden face turning to see one of the younger wolves that had been accepted had decided to approach as well. "Think I could go with the scouts or hunters? To learn." As the young male's question rolled from his tongue, a smile blossomed across Eureka's face. It was admirable to see that someone so young was so eager to learn and become involved within the pack. She had no doubt that Wynston would grow to become a valuable asset to the pack one day.
“Of course! I love to encourage younglings such as yourself to accompany the pack on their tasks. You’ll be given a rank as soon as I get an idea of your skills, so please don’t hesitate to join in wherever you feel comfortable.” Eureka answered happily, giving a nod of approval to the youngling as she hoped that he would indeed begin to show her where he might fit into the pack. She imagined that he would make a fine hunter, but time would eventually reveal where he would belong. Perhaps he could train with Draco or Ocean...she would have to think about this more later. For now, she was keeping company to Topaz (and Wynston if he decided to stay within the conversation), and she couldn't help the small smile that formed across her face when looking at the handsome mocha-hued male. | Tagged: @topaz, @wynston OOC: --- |

Wynston "You Can't Change Things For The Better Unless You Take A Leap."
Wynny glanced downward nervously, barely catching the bright smile that touched the Alphess's face. Doing his best to calm his hopefully pounding heart, the young male gazed upward again. He fastened his eyes on her lower features because he was pretty sure that looking a superior in the eyes was disrespectful. He tried giving a smile in return to her own as she opened her mouth to speak. “Of course! I love to encourage younglings such as yourself to accompany the pack on their tasks. You’ll be given a rank as soon as I get an idea of your skills, so please don’t hesitate to join in wherever you feel comfortable.” Wagging his scrawny tail happily, Wynston let out his held breath. "Thank you!" He chirped joyfully. Gosh, he'd get to learn all about ranks before he even got one. He would get to follow the older wolves on their hunts. He was also tempted to ask when the next hunt or... Is it patrol? Yes. Patrol would happen so he could prepare but he decided against it. Instead he should probably socialize. Ugh.
The darkly hued adolescent stayed a second longer, looking unsurely but curiously from one wolf to the other. He watched the Alphess smile gently at the male, Topaz, and Wynny took that as his cue to excuse himself. Slowly backing away from them, he bobbed his head as respectfully as he could manage before he turned and bounded away from the pair. He hadn't gotten far before he stopped and seriously thought about what to do. Dig a den or meet some of his pack-mates? Neither seemed very interesting or pleasurable. Would he be okay to look around the territory? Wynny wondered about this and if he would get in trouble but he didn't ponder it long.
Feeling that it would be better to give himself a warm place to sleep, he left his "pup-ish" thoughts behind as he did his best to put responsibility first. It wasn't easy. As Wynston searched for a good place to dig himself a den, his mind kept wanting to stray and lead him to the things beyond the Commons. But that wouldn't do. Not if he wanted to get a good rank when he was older. The young male shook his head of the unfocused thoughts and trotted a bit further on, further away from the other wolves to make him a bit more comfortable. The spot he choose to make his den at was fine, nothing amazing, but it was doable. With a heavy sigh, the young male plopped down on his claimed spot knowing that he should start digging. He had never made his own den before but he was willing to try. And maybe... maybe if he couldn't do it he could summon up his voice, bury his independence and ask one of the nice adult's to help him. It was a possibility.
Wynston hopped to his paws and studied his chosen area. Should he dig straight down or more at an angle. Deciding to play it safe, Wynny began digging into the earth at a gentle angle. The dirt was softer on top but as he dug deeper he noticed that the ground became more hard-packed. Stopping to take a break revealed that he had only made a wide-spread dent in the ground. Wynny sighed and seated himself, contemplating whether he should continue with his task or go and find someone to talk to.

Scout Dorsey Hiccup "Wanna Play?"
The kind smile that the other wolf offered calmed the male slightly and instead of fretting, Dorsey began swaying rhythmically from side to side in a relaxing manner. He was grateful when the larger male spoke instead of waiting for Dorsey Hiccup to try his hand at speaking again. "Hello! Dorsey, was it? My name's Uzumati," He nodded at the question about his name. Uzumati was a nice name indeed. The pink-nosed male kept a mental note to aks him where he got it or what it meant. "What do you think of Somnus so far?" Dorsey Hiccup thought a moment, unconsciously sitting down to think. His paw hovered near his mouth but he hesitated before placing it between his teeth to chew restlessly
"I-uh le-le-like i--i-t. Lo-ut-s uh-uh-of ni-ni-nice woo-wuh-" Dorsey shook his head, frustrated. He looked at Uzumati, hoping he wouldn't be upset with him because of how long it took him to speak. He waited a moment, gulping down his anxiety, or trying anyways, before trying again. "Ni-ni-nice-ce Wool-wool-" Dang it, why wouldn't his stupid tongue cooperate. Was it because he was nervous? "Wuh-wol-vuh-vuh-s." Finally! Three tries it had taken him. Swallowing hard and ducking his head in embarrassment, the pink-nosed male gestured toward the wolves in the Common Grounds without looking up, hoping that the larger male would understand. He didn't want to look the male in the eyes so instead he kept his ears up to signal he was still paying attention. "Wuh-wuht-what do-do ya-ya-you thi-in-in-k?" He glanced up for a single second before placing his eyes back on the ground and reaching his head down to continue chewing on his paw.

Storm follows the Alphess and the other wolves back to the common grounds, staying silent and not grouping with the others. There is no need to group, not when he isn't social and all, besides, he doesn't want to give off the wrong impression. Stepping into his new packs common grounds, his eyes flick around, catching everything he can without turning his head to look around, like a pup in wonder at his new surroundings. There will be time later to take a closer look, but for now, he just wants to check, see the wolves as well and where they are. When Alphess Eureka stops in the middle and howls to gather everyone's attention, Storm stops and remains standing. Storm listens as she speaks about talking to the other pack members, getting to know them all and to mingle. Yeah, probably not. He doesn't mind getting to know them, but speaking is another thing. Not unless he wants too and find the other wolfs conversation interesting enough. When she gets to their positions, his eyes flick back to her. "Topaz, Uzumati, Trico and Storm, you four will be receiving the rank of Hunter for today, I hope that you each do well within this placement and work hard to provide the mouths of Somnus with suitable sustenance." Hunter is good for him, though he wouldn't have minded warrior since he doesn't mind fighting, but the Alphess also said that the rank for be for today and that tells him perhaps the rank can change. He nods his head once in acceptance of his new rank and listens to everyone else get theirs. "For those of you who are new here, please feel free to find or build a den for yourself, and of course, don't be afraid to introduce yourself to your new pack-mates." This signifies the Alphess is done speaking and sees others go around to talk and make new friends or dens or whatever, though soon after another wolf steps forward and introduces themselves as Azaelia the former head of Somnus. He nods in response, the nod a hello as well as a respectful gesture to the elder and former head before he turns and makes his way around the grounds to find a spot to rest at. tags- Alphess Eureka Azaelia
