Murdoch, Salutary of Somnus
M urdoch had just entered his den at the request of Eureka when a sound was heard from behind. Turning, the massive blonde from earlier entered the den, without a word. Watching closely he displayed his lacerations and cuts, eyes shinning with words that his mouth did not speak. With what he can assume is his sister's outside, they each seemed to have a disability. Possibly this one was mute? "Not much for words, huh?" Murdoch joked, before moving to his stash of dried herbs that would do well to keep away infection. Pulling a few forward he went back to his inspections, sniffing at a few. The male being quite tall, Murdoch motioned for him to lay down fully, which the giant complied to. "Thank you," he spoke softly before using one paw to pull away fur to take glances at the deeper wounds. They were all clean and clear of infection, good. "What I'm going to do now is make a poultice of a few things to keep infection away and to numb some of the pain of deeper wounds, otherwise they're healing up quite nicely and are clean, whoever fixed you up initially did a good job," he commended before going about his business. Chewing together his first batch, this went on the lighter ones that were already healing up but he wanted to make sure they would not gain infection. His second batch went around the wounds that were deeper and the ones around the neck, this also held a small numbing agent. He would still feel some tinge of pain if he pulled at them, but most of the aches or throbbing would go away. When Murdoch was done he took a step back to check his work. Nodding in appreciation he went to let the male know his next steps in the treatment process before Eureka came in. She spoke of a few scratches on herself and he nodded. He preferred to treat one at a time in his den, trying to make it a private safe space for anyone who walked in. He tried to extend his talents to far more than simply treating the wounded or sick, he wanted to help treat their hearts and mind if he could. Murdoch made to try to usher his first patient out before the beta walked right in. Now Murdoch was annoyed and frowned deeply at her intrusion. "I’m glad you’re home safe my dear," Of course she was, everyone in this pack was happy to have the siblings home and this conversation should not be taking place inside his Salutary den. But he remained silent and began pulling the same herbs he put on the blonde giant forward for Eureka while Violet spoke. "We have two new members in the pack that I’ve brought only recently into the pack. They seemed fitting enough for the pack, but I’ll leave that for you to decide,” The movement of Violet trying to touch his patient had him raising an eyebrow, this was not the time for a reunion. “We can talk more at the lake,” the last part was whispered but even he could hear and so could the so-far mute male could as well. Once the Beta had left Murdoch looked to the male, "I like to work on each patient separately, if you wish to... converse with Eureka, you can wait outside," he said calmly and kindly. If the male left, Murdoch moved to place several branches in the way of the entrance. "My apologies, Alphess, normally I am much quicker to getting patients out of here to allow for more privacy," he then moved forward if she let him. When he reached to touch some of her fur to pull away like he had done earlier, Eureka seemed to flinch and want to pull away. He stopped and pulled away himself, giving her space until she relaxed. They looked clean and well treated, just like the injuries on the male. "No need to touch right now but I will need to put some poultice on one of the deeper lacerations on your scruff and back, to keep infection away, but the others will just need to be cleaned more often," he let the reason hang in the air. He would not force her to deal with his touch if it brought her discomfort. He would only do that if this was life threatening, which none of these wounds were. Chewing the poultice together, he had her lay down as much as would allow before he applied the chewed herbs to her wounds. Pulling away he busied himself with reorganizing his stash before facing her once more. Her body moving to leave the den but he wanted to say something of comfort to her. "I am a private person of my past," he spoke to her, his own ears pulling backwards in discomfort at the topic. "But, you have the same expression my mother wore, when you have time to listen, it would be my pleasure to share my past with you." He felt his body itch with anxiousness of what she would say or do when she found out how he was created, and what he really was. Eureka seemed to listen to him before nodding, a small reply before her body slipped past the branches and into the winter day. Cleaning up more he finally emerged himself. His own orange eyes sweeping the area to land on the two females nearby. He approached, looking at both of them. "My name is Murdoch, Salutary, would you like a tour of the area?" he asked the two, one seemed to be blind as her ears were the first to move to intercept sound than a tilt of the head or her eyes.

As he sat down to watch the burial, brain trying to correctly process what exactly was going on, Wiggles found his mismatched steps bringing him to stumble almost into one of the others, who then sat beside him and gave his condolences. He was chewing on something, some bark. Wiggles had no idea what would drive a wolf to chew on bark besides some toothache, and he was going to ask, but they were then approached by yet another pack member gathering at the sad ceremony. She introduced herself as Merida, inquiring as to just who this warrior who was being buried was to him. At that point, he had sat in silence for so long that the companion sitting next to him got up to excuse himself. Wiggles wasn't usually one to ignore anyone or not speak to them, but he found his mind slower to pump out his usual word vomit due to the intense shock it was trying to solidify. Snow white ears flicked towards her, finding it hard to comprehend all the questions she was asking him at once. It was annoying, his brain hurt and was working overtime, but he was good with generally keeping a peachy outlook. He couldn't offer his new friend a smile, but he did give his little wag that made sure none of his tail caught his vision, lest he need to catch it. "Hi. I'm Wiggles, I'm a scout here. They're burying Oozoo. He was like my big brother. He was my bestest friend ever." His response was formed in the same mouth-spouting-words way he had, but with a severe lack of enthusiasm. He missed Uzumati already. Uzumati was so open to him and treated him so well despite his "special quirks." He made Wiggles feel like he didn't have any of those problems, or at least like he could do anything he wanted. Other wolves, while being friendly and caring, would try to talk Wiggles out of certain things because they were worried about his strange walk or the way his stance was splayed out, even when he was sitting down as he was now. Uzumati never did any of that; if anything, he pushed the smaller male to do things he wasn't allowed to do when he was younger. "Now he's gone..." He whispered aloud. Even so, he was on his feet, following the group to the best of his disability. While others had straight paths through the snow, his was inconsistent, spread apart weirdly. But he would be with his friend in the end either way. EXIT TO: The Lake Apprentice Corvidae Merida

WARRIOR PERCY
Percy had grown bored quite quickly and with Azaelia seeming to need some space to gather herself he moved back. "Don't worry sis, take your time, we're not going anywhere," he teased with a playful wink and he bounded off once more. His body made to follow Merida but the look on most of the wolves faces heading to the lake screamed 'do not go or you will piss them off' and while his sister's mate was a tempting target for shenanigans, he didn't need to be booted right away. Laughing to himself, he set his eyes on his travel companions. Nevermore and Blue.
Oh how wonderful, two sweet girl can be. They were even more fun to prank because of their disabilities, if only they would get him back his world would be complete. But alas, no one ever wanted to prank back or challenge his expert skills in how to royally piss people off. Again, another silent chuckle as he came towards the two. Making sure to be as quiet as possible, he hoped Nevermore hadn't caught his scent quite yet. Thankfully, it looked like the Salutary was there to distract them. Sneaking up, he pounced, landing between the two girls with a loud, playful snarl. Blue fell away, probably scared her more than he meant to, but that was a risk he was willing to take for a laugh.
The old salutary fixed him with a look that made Percy laughter cut short. "Please, do try to be more respectful," the elder's voice grated on Percy's nerve for a short moment. He opened his maw to quip a reply before Nevermore spoke up as well, commenting how she knew he was there. Of course she knew. Rolling his eyes, he rose to his paws. Fixing Nevermore with a flirtatious grin, of course she wouldn't see it but the Salutary did. He seemed, annoyed? Did he already have a thing for Miss Nev?
"My apologies, my dear Nev, I did not mean to underestimate your skills in perception," Percy dramatically bowed, the salutary scoffing in response. "I will try harder to give you a little fright, gotta keep you on your toes," he joked, moving to slide against her flirtatiously. Percy was toeing the line now, the salutary was set in a deep frown and their hulking brother was bound to come by any second and smash him away. He pulled away to laugh at her expression, not rudely but in a way that he got what he wanted.
"Please, do not be upset, I merely jest," but before he left, he moved in to her ear, "or am I?" he whispered seductively, a small growl left his chops before bounding way. The Salutary really did not like that as he seemed to now moved to block Percy's view of Nevermore and Blue.

Coming upon the Somnus territory had at first been like a dream, an unnatural spot of bright and beautiful after an endless trek laden with sorrows. The land was somehow rich and lush in spite of the weather, especially in comparison to the deadened woods they had just departed. Snow sparkled porcelain on the forest floor, laden with tiny tracks left by minor prey animals; sharp cerulean eyes caught the turn of many wings in the branches high above. Despite the winter snows, Somnus was brimming with life just waiting to burst through at the first sign of spring, and it spoke to the hope that held firm in her heart. Wide eyes turn incredulously to brother and sister, delicate freckles only emphasizing the disbelief in her gaze. This place was to be their home? It both terrified and excited her - El would no longer be solely responsible for their wellbeing, Nevermore would have those who could actually hold a conversation with her! And yet, it had always been the three of them - ElNeverBlue - one sibling beginning where the other ended. It would certainly take a lot of adjusting to fit new wolves (so many, scents intermingling) into the dynamic that had been so carefully shaped over the years. But of course, of course she would be willing to try, if only for the hope she can see brimming in her sibling’s eyes. Though she remained deaf to their new alphess’ words, she can infer through her body language and her family’s responses what had been offered - and it is met with a benign smile and a dip of Blue’s head. Nevermore’s words only confirmed their desire to stay. She felt - well. Overwhelmed might be more accurate than overjoyed at the moment, if she were being perfectly honest with herself. The frost-touched fae soon finds herself at the back of the band of wolves, eyes darting rapidly about in an attempt to keep track of everything. Merida, drifting towards her brother Percy - one of the two a sweet wolf that Blue was undoubtedly fond of. The chatty lupess had been good company for Never along the way, and had the ingrained ability to lift everyone’s spirits, even just the slightest bit. Her very presence was a comfort, despite the energy that seemed to constantly buzz just under the other’s pelt. Her brother on the other hand - well. He had certainly tried to keep Nevermore company too, as well as Blue. She didn’t dislike him, per se, but the slick way he eyed any of the opposite gender, the little gifts paired with too close contact, the flirtations- it was too much, especially when she had come so close to being- it was just a lot. She was sure she’d grow used to his antics eventually, but for now his eyes being turned elsewhere brought, for the most part, relief. Puffing out a short breath - an unconscious haaa of vocalization - the alabaster beauty draws close to her sister once more, in time to catch the phrase I...come with me. She had missed the context around the request, but she follows the night-stained femme anyhow, pelt the yang to Nevermore’s yin. She would leave El to Eureka’s capable paws; she could see he harbored an intrigue (a fondness) for the young leader. Percy and Merida, of course, joined them for a few brief seconds, her head tilting to follow their movements before they suddenly draw away, distracted by the appearance of more wolves. Her steps slow ever so slightly as she witnesses the reunion of the two separate groups; she can tell by the emotional gestures and suspiciously misty eyes that this was more akin to two halves becoming whole once more than anything else. The marshmallow coated lupess has to turn away, feeling as though she were intruding upon something very intimate - especially with Merida and Percy, Draco and his pale beau. Best introductions were made later. No more than a minute passes before a familiar shadow falls over their frames, El having forsaken any curiosity he might have held to ensure their safety. Tension she hadn’t even realized had gathered in her shoulders leaks away; her tail twitches in an aborted motion to brush against his flank. The appendage does not connect; he wouldn’t appreciate the contact the way most would. So she redirects it to Nevermore’s flank instead, soft smile invisible to the soot shaded she-wolf. El’s intense request - demand - that they follow is met with a steady gaze; she turns to her sister, lips pursing as she contemplates for mere moments. Rarely had she before seen her sibling this carefree, and yet El’s wounds needed treatment - and his ease of mind would be enforced by their presence. Despite Never’s (mostly successful) care, she would like the get the gouges along her flanks looked at as well, as they still stung and ached whenever she stretched her body out. So it is with a firm nudge to the other’s flank that Blue indicates they go, nose assaulted by the thick stench of dried herbs as they wait outside the salutary’s den. The alphess was inside, she could tell, her scent overpowering even the herbs. She twitches when El enters anyways, though she assumes he is taken care of when the salutary himself appears after a few minutes of unnatural silence. The male seems utterly friendly, and she grasps the word tour with some pleasure. She wasn’t certain she wanted to be alone with this quasi-stranger, but the kindly female appreciated his offer nonetheless. A pleased hum passes her lips, completely unbeknown to her; slightly vocal breathing follows soon after. A near constant. She would have to ask after his name again later, she was not able to make sense of the quick syllables that tumbled from his lips, too fast for her to pick up on. Endearing baby blues roam over the elder wolf’s figure, entertaining herself by observing the way fine silver hairs encroached on the tar fur around his face and neck; the wisened orange eyes that seemed to radiate understanding. What a comforting presence! So distracted is she that she doesn’t even think to scent the air ( stupid!), and is therefore utterly frightened when Percy leaps between them, putting impressive fangs on display. A choked cry leaps her maw, and she stumbles back, tripping over her own hind paws and landing in an impromptu sitting position on her rump. A full-body shiver rolls through her delicate frame, ears pressing flat against a pristine white skull. How rude of him for doing such a thing, and how silly of her to not expect it! It’s all fun and games to Percy, of course, nevermind the scent of death lingering in the air, or that they had been meeting someone else. Blue fixes him with a look practically dripping maternal disapproval even as hot embarrassment heats her useless ears. It had been many months since she had felt even an inkling of shame over her disability. With the two beings who accepted her most in the world, why should she be ashamed of who she was? They would never judge her just as she never judged them. Her howls, cries, coos; all had become normal, deadened ears not even worth mentioning. But here came Percy, all spiced smiles and mischief, with the nerve to make her feel conscious about something she could hardly help. Surely she would be colored like a strawberry were it not for the thick white fur plastered along her body. Even so, her mild frustration bubbles over when he slides his larger body along Nevermore’s, an offended, wordless bark of clear warning slipping past her parted jaws. Never had she encountered a character like this, and he slipped under her skin and itched there like a nest of ants. Blue could not possibly imagine how Nevermore felt. The frosted beauty watches with upset as he bounds away, emitting a shaky sigh before ruffling her pelt up against the cold. Best to put it behind her. So long as Never was okay, she was willing to put the whole of her attention back upon the resident healer. Well, perhaps not the whole of her attention. Cerulean eyes seek out El’s hulking form before returning to the other male. El Apprentice Nevermore Paladin Percy Salutary Murdoch

- the constant happiness is curiosity -
There was nothing "princess" about the alphess anymore, and the air of a queen was infected with bitterness. Her eyes spoke of a beautiful, independent soul, but her tendencies told of girl in pain, in need of nurturing and guidance. Her skin tightened and trembled when she dared wonder how this came to be, if this was all that was left of her. It was substantially far from her nature to look at Violet with such disapproval in response to the pitiful remark, "I’m glad you’re home safe my dear."
My dear. Was she a child, still? Was she still the omega? The life of the party? "We can talk more at the lake," the beta resumed. Oh, how Eureka's blood boiled, a feverish young girl ripe with disdain for all things that threatened her solitude.
Eureka summoned a growl that edged the beta's visage, a hazarded impulse against what she could only describe as resentment. Her ears fell quickly, still clinging to hatred but ashamed with regret, and demeaned as she foolishly allowed her followers to see her in such a light. But she lacked the strength to apologize. Her jaw was locked, tongue pressed against the roof of her mouth.
She denied Murdoch the curtesy of making eyes. They fumbled for the security of the ground, even as a sore pulse in her body begged her to look. She had instinctively seized herself away from the impending touch of the salutary. She'd longed for contact the day she lost her sisters, finding it in her brothers, her parents, her friends⏤even the sensation of grass tickling her soft underbelly mitigated the trauma; today, she cowered at the very thought.
She laid herself down on the cold earth, tail close to her tense legs. She felt the strain of her ribs as she held her breath upon application of the poultice. She was willing to sacrifice this moment of comfort for the insurance against her wounds opening for all to see and question. She didn't waste another once Murdoch finished tiptoeing around her body, and made her way out of the den with urgency, stopped by a sad voice.
"I am a private person of my past," he said, ears pulled back in clear discomfort, an unwelcome recollection perhaps. "But, you have the same expression my mother wore. When you have time to listen, it would be my pleasure to share my past with you."
Eureka, absent of her best intuition, failed to offer him the solace he may have needed, in the better interest of escaping this situation entirely. She gave him nothing but a nod, still refusing to look him in the eye. She passed the sibling trio swiftly, only El's feet in view as she kept her optics on the melting snow.

| Azaelia. Former Somnus Alphess
"Aren't ya gonna say something?"
Azaelia blinked. She had disappeared in the sound of her own racing heart, each thud escorting a forgotten memory to the forefront of her mind. They'd been suppressed so long, as traumas tended to be, yet they flowed with such ease as she stared into the eyes of a conduit of apprehension. Poor Merida, how such a sweet face could channel such terrors dwelling in Azaelia's heart that had long vanished from her mind. But they were evidence of a beautiful soul trapped in a hideous nightmare, and feeling every ounce of Merida's being, Azaelia accepted her sister's embrace. All memories faded, and only the soft pulsations of their chests remained. It's just us. Only us.
After all that time she spent wide-eyed in an intangible world, a transitory evocation of buried sentiments, she had forgotten to reply. She suppressed all temptation to retaliate when Merida pulled away from her, but there was no amount of childish embraces that could make up for the time they'd lost. With that, Merida was gone in a second, leaving behind only one thought: “when you’re ready to talk...”
Percy took the place of their sister, but he was also quick to depart. "Don't worry sis, take your time, we're not going anywhere." Was she a mental patient to them? Did she need "time?" To perceive her as one to worry about abandonment, was it the truth? All she could do was shake it off. Do her job. It's what she was best at.
Most of the pack had ventured to the burial, save the salutary and the mysterious trio. She forged the thought that she could not trust Percy alone in the commons without the supervision of a superior, if he was as rambunctious as he was in childhood. Only moments later, a thud near the salutary's den caught her attention. Percy.
"Always a nuisance," she jeered at her brother after coming upon the tragic scene. No luck came to those who encountered her brother. Azaelia gave a quick apology to the siblings and to Murdoch before beckoning her brother away from the vicinity. There were no words to express how thankful she was that he hadn't joined the commute to the burial. Best he be locked away entirely.
"Now I have to miss a memorial so I can babysit you." Azaelia sat in front of him, brows furrowed, but her eyes lacked the fire spewing in her tone. Neck arched to the ground, she gazed intently across the terrain, insuring nobody were in earshot. Suddenly, a fit of dark, narcissistic tendencies unfurled in an eerily black voice never before present in the compassionate ex-alphess. "Truth is... I'd only spoken to him once," she whispered poisonously, a chuckle begging in the back of her throat. Honesty was never in the company of kindness; if it was, there was a liar about.
What am I thinking?

Nevermore waited patiently outside the Salutary Den, listening as much as she could to the area around her. The shuffling of paws inside indicated that wolves were moving around, and a blank stare was kept staring off as a wolf appeared in front of her, her ears perking to the change in wind, and the strong scent that wafted over her nostrils. He was definitely the Salutary, his herbal scent being akin to hers, and she could name some herbs that were on his pelt if she needed to. But she didn’t think too much into it. The male greeted them, asking if they wanted a tour to see around. The thought bitterly came to her mind that she would love to see. A poor joke that wouldn’t escape her lips, instead her ears pricked to the small, miniscule sounds of another approaching. Only her delicate ears were to hear, and before she could warn Blue, Percy sprung forward, in between Nevermore and Blue. The loss of contact with her sister had Nevermore only in touch with the ground as she barely flinched from Percy’s playful snarl. “I could hear you a mile away,” She growled, taking her paw gently and placing it in front of her to feel. As she was trying to move towards Blue or where she had heard the thump and where she could catch her scent, Percy brushed up against her, a spark of annoyance flicking through her. It was fun and games, but she needed to make sure that Blue was okay. He whispered in her ear, and she felt herself grow more annoyed. He finally disappeared, the movement of the Salutary being the only thing she heard as she timidly searched for Blue. Finally, a little bit of fluff she found, but it was not her sister. Instead, it was the Salutary’s paw, and she moved away quickly. “Sorry,” She mumbled before starting to really panic on being lost. But the familiar scent washed over her as she crashed into Blue, the black she-wolf pressing herself against her sister. “I know you can’t hear me but I’m going to stuff some juniper berries in a rabbit of his. Then we’ll see if he’s up for anymore pranks,” The idea made Nevermore giggle a little bit, not knowing if the Salutary could hear her. But she didn’t quite care at the moment. She wanted El to be here, she missed him, even if he had been gone for only a few short moments. New areas, and new smells had Nevermore on edge a bit more than before. They were in a pack. Although she had gotten along with most of the others along the trip and been chatty, this was probably the longest silence to come from Nevermore in awhile. She would return to herself once she was sure of where she was, and knew better tactics to combat wolves like Percy, but right now she wanted her siblings close to her. “I didn’t mean to ignore your offer. Blue and I are waiting on our brother El, but if you would like to show us around, that would be nice. I’d like to get a better lay of the land and such,” She said. The scare that Percy had done, although not having reacted much at first, had slightly shaken the poor she-wolf, but she was recuperating. “I also would love to hear where you collect all your herbs, and maybe visit some spots where to find them! I’m not sure if anything was said to you, but I’ve been practicing healing since I can remember. And you smell too much like herbs to not be the Salutary of this pack,” She chided, blank eyes shooting a look in where she thought he was. She was more than likely wrong, but the flick of her ears in his direction let him know that she was patiently waiting for his reply. She had made sure she kept her pace slow, as she had pulled away from the warmth of Blue so that she could see what she was saying. She knew what pace to go at when mouthing her syllables, and she hoped that her sister had caught most of that. @blue Paladin Percy Salutary Murdoch El

If I got rid of my DEMONS, I'd lose my angels. "Not much for words, huh?"
Something Nevermore would say. If El had the capacity to laugh aloud, he would have, but he instead succumbed to black silence and made very clear the dull irony of his predicament. Though, from the pits of his undeveloped chords came the breath of what may have been a grunt of sorts from the impact of his massive body on the ground. As he lay exposed before the elder male, he found himself following orders from somebody other than his intuition and sisters for the first time in his life. For his health, and thus the sake of his sisters, he had no quarrels about this, but he wondered how easily he would follow, let alone accept, directions given by other superiors of this pack. From Eureka he would not complain. She had proven herself as strong as his own kin, and Draco had demonstrated the respectable indications of a worthy protector, one the mute would have no trouble working alongside for the betterment of his family. But the rest he would not so easily submit to. For El to relinquish his independence would ruin his sisters and their trust in him. He could not bear to have them rely on anybody but him, and neither could they.
In all his thought, the salutary had nearly completed his functions. He remembered selectively hearing some utterances from the elder, such as, "whoever fixed you up initially did a good job," to which El reacted with a proud glance at his sister somewhere outside of the den. He was relieved to see her safe with Blue. He responded to peculiar sensations along his wounds, first a sting, then a tingle, then nothing. Numb, almost entirely. Eyes blinked widely in approval towards the salutary. It seemed he had finished.
Eureka approached soon, a sudden burst of heat through his muscles urging him to remove his vulnerable, sprawled body from the floor immediately. He was quick to exit the den and disappear from sight, where he could exercise his angst away. It was a good opportunity to scout the surrounding area and become familiar with the terrain while his sisters were under the protection of the salutary, who had gained a surprising amount of trust from the possessive brute.
Not much time passed before a startling spectacle had El rushing to the scene of his sisters. He ran his eyes over Blue, scouring her for wounds and dirt. He pawed her anywhere Percy's filth infected and proceeded to incessantly touch her with nurturing affections. For moments he simply breathed into her fur, eyes closed, apologizing for letting this happen. But soon grief turned to rage, and it coursed through his veins like poison. He could not hear what Nevermore whispered to deaf Blue, but he was certain she was plotting against Percy. But El knew it wouldn't be enough to stop a hungry, desiring male. It would excite Percy, and encourage yet another event against his undeserving sisters.
ARE YOU GOING TO LET HIM GET AWAY WITH IT?
So the demon spoke, but it didn't take his demonic influence to convince El to give Percy the lesson he deserved. El was not opposed to a brutal interruption of Percy's chat with whose name was forgotten. He came upon the duo silently and with clear intention. El huffed and opened his jaws with no sound but his breath escaping sporadically. In his attempt, they were to clasp around Percy's neck in the company of a swinging claw set to tear into the left shoulder, an impact that would send both brutes to the ground.
KEEP GOING.
*El held himself in position for what seemed like minutes, ignoring any squirms beneath him, but his jaws released eventually. He refused eye contact with the male and walked away in silence to leveled terrain where he could keep an eye on his sisters; and Percy. His recently treated wounds were not ready for such an event, and he felt the poultice dripping from his body, some left on Percy's coat, and he once again began to feel the throbs of pain he was just treated for.
Thanks, asshole.
YOU'RE WELCOME.
