Wiggles tilted his head to the side as Uzumati laughed and corrected him, warning him that the moose was simply too big for him to take down alone. He rose to his feet, ready to lead the wobbly male towards food, suggesting meeting his new friend when they get back from the hunting grounds. The smaller male jumped up and down once, twice, three times, then danced with his front paws, ready to get moving. But before they could get far Uzu was caught by the sight of the old Alphess and Ocean coming into the commons with two new faces in tow. So many new friends! He was excited to get to know everyone! But first, he was really hungry. All this running around he did on a daily basis really made him hungry. He looked a little closer at the two. Both were female, one a colorful ginger mix and the other white just like him and Uzu. Wait, not just like him, she looked more like Uzu. Now that he really looked, she had a pink nose and light colored eyes too. She must be an albino too! "Oozoo!!! That wolf looks just like you! Look! Look! We should go meet her!" His jerking movements brought them forward, and his best friend asked the two if they cared to join them to go grab a bite. The whole time Wiggles was twitching and moving, his tail wagging happily. He was so happy to be hanging out with Uzu again. He felt accepted and strong when Uzu was around. He felt like he could do anything despite his disabilities. The colorful female piped up, revealing to them that they seemed to be heading that way already, so she would in fact be joining them. Wiggles grinned widely at her and greeted her with a waving paw. She introduced herself as Karasu, asking Uzu what his name was. Not giving his adopted brother the chance to reply, he spoke out, always happy to have a new friend. "My name is Wiggles! It's nice to meet you! I'm a Scout here, Oozoo is a Hunter, he just helped take down the moose!" Jumping to Uzumati's other side, he addressed the other female. "I'm Wiggles! You look just like Oozoo! What's your name? Are you coming to eat with us?" Ever the talker, he carried on like usual, knowing that they would either catch up in a moment, or Uzu would help them decipher his eager words. @uzumati @karasu Omega Vespen

ROGUE VESPEN
Vespen follows in after Azaelia who circles off a little to let the pack introduce themselves to the new additions. The grouping was similar in aura to her own family. A small pang of sadness echoes in chest as she tried not to recall them. They were all so extremely sad and disheartened when the twins left, that it almost felt like they were turning their backs on them. They had just wanted to find their own selves. Was it really that bad?
Her mind had went down a sad path. Her head tilted and she swore she saw her brother. Another movement and she took in the full sight of her brother. Victor? She thought, but with a great pang of guilt, no, that was not Victor. This was simply a male with the exact deformity they had.
Turning her head around they were already moving. The other rogue that had came seemed to be opening up a little with another pack member. Everything felt and looked so great. Almost too great. Worry nagged at her mind as she got swept away with the group.

It was dryer than usual this morning, the dew shriveling up at the first hints of sunlight. Dorsey had been watching it since much earlier. He had made a game of jumping around and licking the droplets from the grass. The water, sadly, had the tang of green from the plants, and soon the taste became too much. Dorsey pawed at his tongue to rid himself of the taste, soon finding out that his paw was not much better. He huffed, but got up and yipped a few times to the sun. Slowly, it blinded his dual-colored eyes, but in a joyous sense of awe.
Soon, Dorsey had found a new game in chasing squirrels, though he had no intent of harming them. The brown balls of fur ran away, chattering as he trotted behind them, laughing. He sighed when he was tired of this, beginning to flick his ears rapidly. They darted back and forth uncontrollably. He decided he needed a friend at this point in time. After much muttering and practicing saying the word he wished to speak, he called out into the trees, "Play?"
Then, he wagged his tail in wait, grinning in the excitement of a new friend.

Murdoch at one point had to stop walking with Fluer. The poppy seeds did their job amazingly and she had been falling asleep walking back to the commons. So being a gentleman, he had offered her his back which she gladly accepted. Only downside, her added weight flared up his bad hip. Plus side, the commons wasn’t far away. Once in the familiar gathering space, he placed the white she-wolf in his Salutary den. Seperate from his own den, this den had a bigger entrance to carry patients into. Plus this den was sheltered by a thicket of bush, bramble, and sticks he had collected. This space kept the wind and cold out, while still being able to hear if someone were to call. Better than den dug from the ground where noise was mostly muffled. Pulling away he would let her sleep. She would know where she was at when she awoke, and if she wasn’t he wouldn’t be too far away if she called or came out confused. Already Murdoch was sore and the day had just begun. Feeling the age in his bones his mind turned to a question that he needed an answer to. Would he get appointed an apprentice to take over for him once he became to old OR does he look for one? He made sure to take a mental note to ask Azaelia or Violet before Eureka’s return. Even if had no plans to retire till he was much frailer, he still wished to start teaching another before his mind left him and his speech slowed. Licking his chops he heard a familiar voice calling. Raising up he went to check out what the wolf in particular was doing. He spotted the pink nose male joyfully moving about. “I am not one for play,” Murdoch answered the male’s cry with an honest answer. “But I would not mind the company if you wish to talk or tell stories,” he mentioned, beckoning for the other to come sit beside him. Murdoch moved to sit and rest against a nearby tree, waiting for either the acceptance or denial of Dorsey. Spotting another familiar face not too far off, he opened his black lined lips. “Beta Violet~,” he called, mostly his voice was teasing by using her title. He meant no disrespect but simply wished to catch her attention. “Come sit here, this tree blocks the wind nicely and gives us a decent overhang to avoid any snow if it starts up.”

| | Topaz almost immediately became uninterested in conversation as she pushed away his advances. There was no way she was going to let some male woo her and Eureka at the same time. Shifting her lavender gaze over the clearing, she saw that Yiska had departed to who knew where, and Uzumati, who was previously chatting with her, had moved to make conversation with other wolves. The pack was peaceful, nothing terrible having happened in the days that they spent together, and it was a good change of pace. The white she-wolf looked towards the hunting grounds, wondering what Azaelia and Ocean were doing. She hadn't seen the two since they had departed alone to who knows where. Azaelia seemed be more carefree since she had stepped down from being Alphess, but the Beta couldn't follow her lead. The pack needed two superiors, and Violet was sadly the only candidate currently be the Beta of the pack. Not that she minded, Eureka needed someone with more experience that knew their way around pack politics, and could help her when a decision became hard, or she was uncertain. She knew that with time Eureka would need her less, and she would probably be replaced. Sighing at the thought, Violet's ears perked at the sound of her name being called.
The salutary was inviting her over for conversation, something almost no one did anymore. She was taken aback, seeing the friendly gesture put her way. Violet had kept to herself mostly, being civil around her packmates, but mostly spending her time occupied in her own thoughts. With aging came responsibility and Violet had changed a lot since she had joined Somnus. A flick of her tail came from behind her as she hesitated to step forward towards the group of wolves, but she felt as if she was needed somewhere. "I would love to, but I think the borders need to be remarked, and checked for new rogues," She said, looking towards them with an apologetic nod before rushing off towards the borders without another word. She didn't know how to react to the invitation, and she wondered why it was that she acted the way she had. Maybe all her thinking was finally getting the best of her. Whatever it was, she shook her head as she took a rather quick pace, almost barreling towards the borders as she escaped from her own self.

The idea of 'no play' was not one he had ever thought of. Why would any wolf in their right mind not want to play? He pawed the ground and furrowed his eyes, but followed the male to the resting spot. He was contempt with Murdoch's offer, as it meant he was willing to listen. He had loved stories from the time he was a pup, especially those that taught lessons to the listeners. All of his beliefs came from these stories, and they followed him in to adulthood. Dorsey memorized a pawful of them, the ones that made him laugh or cry. It seemed his speech was not nearly as choppy when telling these, and he was grateful for that blessing. Dorsey laid down beside Murdoch, burying his front paws under his pelt. He sniffed a bit at the grass, disappointed when he found no little ants scurrying through the blades. He lifted his head, "Y-y-you like st-st-stories?" The short sentence winded him, and he panted a bit after. Salutary Murdoch

ooc; sub-par post, but yay aelin's back! It was with a broken heart after a long and arduous journey that a defeated Aelin entered the snowy Common Grounds of Somnus, her head hung low and her paws dragging through the crystalline blanket that had begun falling soon after she had left. Her sole mission had been to find the two pups that she had been charged with taking care off — Weayaya and Yiska. Aelin had noticed that the pair seemed insistent on the idea of trying to relocate their parents, but she had never thought these dreaded plans would be acted on so soon by the young and wistful pups. She had awoke one morning to find their den cold, the only trace left being the lingering trail of their scent that she had followed to the borders, dread curling in the pit of her stomach as she realised some of her worst fears were being realised.
Aelin had been trekking through the rogue lands for a couple of weeks hoping to find some clue as to where they had gone. But their trail had gone stale long before her hope had diminished. It was when the snow began to fall with a vengeance that she was forced to call off her search. It tore her heart into shreds the day that she turned around and began to head for home. All she could do was reassure herself that both Weayaya and Yiska were both perfectly capable young wolves, the pair being yearlings now. They had learnt how to fend for themselves during their time in Somnus. Aelin had done enough for them. She just had to accept that now was the time to step back and let them do as they wished, she couldn't baby them forever.
It was strange to be back in the Commons after the time she had spent away. Strange, yet incredibly comforting to be home. But it all seemed so empty. Aelin had caught Violet's scent on her way into the heart of the territory, meaning the she-wolf must have been making a trip to the outermost part of the land: the borders. Meanwhile, Eureka and Draco were still nowhere to be seen. She didn't want to say that she was disappointed, but the only thing she could think about as she neared Somnus was the idea of hiding away from all this cold in a cozy den and curling up into the warm pelt of the male she had grown so close to. Aelin could only hope that their delay in returning to Somnus was nothing serious. She had dealt with enough stress over the past few weeks, if anything had happened to her Alpha or her love friend, she didn't know if she would be able to cope.
Aelin could only be thankful as the overpowering scent of a freshly killed moose was generously wafted under her ebony nose by a more violent winter-breeze. Her stomach twisted in anger, reminding her of the last scrawny hare she had managed to feast on a few days ago. Her pearly cranium lifted as that moosey ray of hope pulled her from her less-than-positive thoughts. Hopefully she would be able to find a few more pack members alongside her impending meal that would be happy to help improve her gloomy mood.

Murdoch, Salutary of Somnus
S omething about the way the other stuttered had Murdoch biting his tongue. Not in any other way than to prevent himself from interrupting. He had met a wolf in his younger days who stuttered and after several attempts to “help” Murdoch realized just letting him get his words out was better than trying to offer the word. Stuttering wasn't about a wolf's inability with words but something in their processing that takes them longer to say a word. Sadly, the other wolf had left after only a short time. Probably to find a pack or continue as a rogue. Not to mention, Murdoch was a character in the day and lacked most social skills that formed long lasting friendships. However, those skills matured while he was in Somnus. All thanks to Azaelia. But to answer the other's question, “Yes, I enjoy stories, telling and listening. Especially ones about family and friends.” Murdoch's smile was sad, his own memories of his family tainted at his discoveries. How is uncles… fathers… what they did was wrong. The gross taste in his mouth had him distracted until he spotted Aelin moving to the hunting grounds. Guess it was gonna be a party over there. “Ya know, there are more wolves at the hunting ground, I think Wiggles is there to and if you truly want to play I'm sure he'll be your best bet,” he offered the suggestion to the other. Of course he couldn't leave after just laying down Fleur, but he would after she woke up and moved to her own den. “if you want to stay that's fine too, but if you choose to go I won't be too far behind.” Murdoch did want to join the other's, even if it was just to watch. Of course if the male said he wanted to stay he would smile genuinely. “Alright, what would you like to hear?”

Dorsey cocked his head at his new friend- at least that's what he was calling him- and began to pant happily. He pawed playfully once or twice at his snout before answering, "I'....I'll just have to wait for you I---I guess." He was surprised at the other male's patience, though he knew it must be difficult to hold one's tongue. At times even he found himself yelling at his own mouth to just hurry it up already! It never worked. He wondered what Murdoch was waiting for, possibly just resting, or maybe for someone. Yet, he was eager to go play Wiggles. Even the name was exciting! However, he decided he wanted to stay with Murdoch for a bit longer, "Do y....you know ab-ab-about ballads?" Dorsey wagged his tail, which beat on the ground a few times, sending dust flying in to the air, "There's a great one I know. Mmmmmmom said the squirrels told it to her because it's ssssssso funny, yet I-I-I find it rather sad. Ballads aaaaaare my favorite types oooof stories." Salutary Murdoch

M urdoch smiled happily at his new companion, his tail thumped lightly on the ground signaling his pleasure as Dorsey decided to remain with him in the commons. He should explain at least why he is waiting in the commons, "I'm here because I have to keep a close eye on Fleur," he gestured with his head towards his den. "She got injured during the hunt and needs some time to rest, I don't wanna stray too far until she wakes up." With that the two sat in silence for a moment before Dorsey asked a question. Ballads? "Hm, I don't think so, which is strange," chuckling he continued, "I've been around a long time and to not know something is interesting, please do tell me more." His eyes were bright with curiosity, he loved learning and would enjoy hearing Dorsey tell him more about these Ballads. @dorsey

| | Violet entered the commons, two new wolves in tow. She caught on the wind the scent of moose. It danced over her nose and beckoned her to the hunting grounds. She needed to show the new wolves around, but first they would need to get acquainted with the commons. Leading them straight there, she caught the sight of Aelin escaping to the hunting grounds before she could properly call out to her. The she-wolf had gone after Weayaya and Yiska, two young wolves that she had taken personal care of. They had gone after relocating their parents, and it seemed that the she-wolf felt responsible enough to go out and find them to bring them back. With no other wolf having accompanied her scent, which was slightly foreign, almost missing the Somnus territory hint to it, she sighed. Weayaya and Yiska seemed to be lost forever to them, off exploring where their parents could be. It was a shame, the youth that Somnus needed seemingly vanished. But to replace them was two new members that showed hope.
Turning her head to see that Dorsey Hiccup and Murdoch were the only wolves left in the commons, she approached them, sweeping her white tail behind her for the two new wolves to come along and introduce themselves. Turning her lavender gaze to Jolon and Corvidae, she gave a warm smile. “This is Dorsey Hiccup, one of our scouts. And this is our Salutary, Murdoch,” She said, looking towards Corvidae in particular. “These are our two new members I’ve brought back from the borders, their names are Jolon and Corvidae,” She beckoned to each with her tail as she spoke their names. Her gaze lingered on Corvidae, looking away before her gaze lingered for too long. “I think you might find Corvidae’s skills rather useful, he told me he has herbal knowledge, which I think you should chat about,” She spoke, tail wagging behind her slowly. “But I’m going to show them the hunting territory and have them meet the others, would you like to accompany us?” She asked, looking towards the two of them. She wouldn’t mind if he said no, but she felt like he would want to talk to Cori especially about herbal things.
The she-wolf, eager to head to the hunting grounds, departed from the group shortly after she got Murdoch's response.

"A ballad," Dorsey started before the three other wolves arrived, "i-i-i-is a story told by song." He stood up, as he normally did when readying for a performance. He shook out his dusty fur before beginning to speak. Oddly, he was almost completely fluent when singing, and his songs always carried a good tune. D Soon, Dorsey was telling Murdoch of an old wolf known as Cryptic Hunter, who feared his afternoon shadow. His mother had always told it to try and cheer him up, though he regularly found himself slightly more depressed by the song's end. It ended on an ominous note,as the story did not feel completed. However, he sang the last line as it had been sang many times before, "And Cryptic Hunter Falling down Lost all fear of drowning Never had there ever been A wolf so fine with frowning." He cleared his throat with a bubbly grin when he finished, just in time for him to be met with Beta Violet and 2 wolves he did not recognize. He dipped his head a bit at Violet but, but panted happily at the others, "Hello Jolon a-a-a-a-a-nd Corvidae, mmmmy name is-is-is Dorsey." He listened to her question, not sure how to answer. Maybe Murdoch wanted to be left alone, as he had concluded his story already. And, he did want to meet these new wolves, "would yyyyyou mind if I-i-i-i- go with them, Murdoch?" Murdoch, Salutary of Somnus
M urdoch let the male speak his tales before he rose from where he sat without trying to interrupt. The story was one that the male before him seemed to know well. The story was interesting, a wolf who feared his own shadow, how interesting? The tale ended on a sad note. His head soon swiveled around to approach foot falls before he had time to respond to Dorsey. Beta Violet approached from her time at the borders and he gave a happy smile, a small nod to the approaching party. He remained seated, his bad hip bothering him some. Listening intently he nodded. Dorsey responded quickly, asking permission to leave. A chuckle left him at the young ones eagerness. "Of course you may leave, you're free to do as you please," he commented before rising with a small grunt. "I'll accompany you, for a short time. I have Fleur in the den, sleeping after some poppy," he explained before coming up alongside Corvidae. "I do have some information I would love to see if you're aware of," Murdoch began, down to business almost immediately. Stepping forward he would follow the group while softly discussing his questions with Corvidae. "I was hoping that you would have information about birthing, I've never been a part of a birth except for my own and my mother, my mentor, never taught me much about that before I was chased off, and living as a rogue didn't allow me to learn about that, what rogue she-wolf would let a stranger help her during a critical and vulnerable process?" He began, his orange eyes flickering to Corviadae's as they spoke, seeing if the male would be helpful or not.

- the constant happiness is curiosity -
The return of the alphess was a four-day journey. Her winter coat concealed the multitude of lacerations that could easily be mistaken as the result of a scuffle, perhaps with some unfriendly rogues. But she would never be able to reveal the truth about its origin. It pained her to imagine the reaction of her packmates, the sorrow they would feel and the failure for which they might hold themselves accountable, more than any of her scars, and more than her own heartache. This was their secret; once she awoke on Draco's back that cold, unforgettable night, she made each of them, one by one, promise her that it would stay that way.
Two others had joined on their adventure on the third day; Merida and Percy, who were heading towards Somnus on their own. Not even they knew what had happened days before. Eureka didn't yet know if she could trust them entirely, especially that Percy. He was always trying to get Eureka's attention, but frankly, the thought of any male's brush against her side or snout on her skin nauseated her. Merida had intuitively become aware of Eureka's state and, thankfully, was able to control her brother's insatiable romanticism.
She was filled with alleviation to find the commons nearly empty. She could barely see Violet's figure marching to the hunting grounds with Dorsey, Murdoch, and two unrecognizable figures trailing closely behind. She exhaled, the first sigh of relief in days to empty her system. Her breath escaped in the form of condensed vapor, and she watched it dissipate into the cold air like a memory, but still she bore its weight.
But her home territory reminded her of her strength, and though she could barely walk straight she knew exactly who she was, and she knew she'd walk tall again someday. She was a marvelous faker⏤she'd had plenty of practice as an omega during the wars, during death, during Azaelia's and Ocean's fits of depression⏤and was brilliant at helping others to distract form her own pain. This skill would conduct the power of her leadership for the uncertain times to come."It's good to be home," Eureka sighed, one of the only sounds her voice had made in days as she stretched her neck like the alphess she was. She couldn't say anything with Merida and Percy here, though she figured they'd been quite uncomfortable with the tension since they'd joined.
"Percy, Merida," she began, turning to them with the most canonical stature she could ask her body to muster. "I've only known you for a short time, but I welcome you to Somnus if you choose to stay." She summoned an endearing smile as well as she could before passing it on to Red.
"Red..." Eureka lost the curve of her lips monetarily as she looked into her sorrowful eyes with all of her empathy. She felt unbearably guilty for not speaking to her, or anybody, on the way here. She just couldn't, but now she owed it to her. "I'm so sorry about Ridley." She took a few steps towards her and nudged her auburn shoulder. "I have faith that you'll see him again."
She briefly passed her gaze over her brother, but she couldn't mutter a word to him. He was upset with her for refusing to tell the story, in hopes that he and Ocean might set out to find her attacker. But Eureka knew her own best interest, and Draco couldn't turn his back on his sister. She still smiled over his figure, albeit awkwardly, to assure him that she held no resentment towards him.
Curiously, she wandered over to the trio. They were an interesting bunch, especially El. She had only spoken, though briefly, to Nevermore. Blue tried as best she could to communicate to Eureka, but her condition was clear. El was his own, unique entity, and she could not figure him out. She found him bloodied and battered when she awoke in the woods, but hadn't heard a word of how it happened, but Blue had this look about her... Like she'd seen it, and it pained her that she couldn't speak about it. What a horrible way for a young girl to live; or anybody, really.
"I never thanked you for helping us," she said to all of them, though it was Nevermore she faced. "I owe you all a place in my pack if you'll accept it." Eyes traveled over El awkwardly for a moment. She was drawn to him, the mysterious, the quiet. It was impossible to know what went on in his head, but it was clear, from what she'd assessed, that protecting his sisters meant everything to him. He was their leader. Blue was the closest they had to a maternal figure. Nevermore was their voice. The body, the heart, and the mind⏤it's what they were, collectively. She'd gathered much of this on her own, but it was also Nevermore's ceaseless rambling that revealed it all. Poor girl. Eureka should've talked to her, too.
It was true, she owed so much to these wolves after neglecting them on their journey. They were all welcome here, but more importantly, Eureka would be their ears. Draco must have been resistant to accepting so many rogues into their home at once, but Eureka felt bonded to those she shared this trauma with, and she could not turn them away. She needed this just as much as they all did.

If I got rid of my DEMONS, I'd lose my angels. Worries erased themselves upon arrival to the Somnus territory. There was never a moment in his life when he felt safe, when he felt his sisters were safe. Yet, here, the wealth of herbs produced exuberant scents that made El wish he could howl with joy. Alas, his thoughts were trapped inside of his racing mind where they manifested as each cog rapidly, eagerly turned, and even the good ones somehow seemed to turn rotten like a decaying carcass.
Eureka, though, made his cogs churn even more, but he was not battered by the quantity of curiosities she effortlessly generated. It entertained him, on the contrary, to compare her behavior to his sisters' after they'd been similarly attacked. The somber silence she carried along their journey wasn't married to her distinctly effusive eyes. El wasn't a master decoder of personality, but he'd seen enough from his sisters to know that she was holding her breath. It was the first time El had put more than a moment's muse towards a female other than his sisters.
Finally, he heard her voice. It was shaky, having been hidden away for so long, but it was warm and pure, much like he imagined Blue's to be if she were ever to compose a real sentence. She said, "it's good to be home," and El had never found such beauty in a phrase. The siblings were not well acquainted with "home," or "good," or the simple source of joy that was having a place to call their own. They'd never returned to a single river they trekked around, or a den they happened across. Life always moved forward, but here, as Eureka's voice lit the area like sunrays, the world was still. What an interesting sensation.
El watched the alphess intently as she praised the followers, including himself and his sisters. He wasn't surprised when she offered the trio a place in the pack; she seemed to be handing them out to anybody she had come in contact with throughout her journey. He could imagine how she might feel if they turned her down, all of them; she would feel alone, uncared for, worthless. Sure, he'd seen it before. He wasn't interested in entertaining her self-pity, but he could not deny his sisters a home. The place had everything they'd been fighting for throughout their life. Water, food, shelter, security...
He looked at Blue first, determining her opinion based on her typical gestures. Then, he looked to Nevermore, who would voice Blue's response. Both of them knew what El wanted, and that was what was best for them and their survival. This was it. There was no doubt.
Say it. Say it, Nevermore.
