Make room for the things that add beauty to your life She greeted the sun's auburn hues that reflected off of the snowy floor. It wasn't as cold here as it was in the woods, and Merida was overwhelmingly thankful to feel the warmth of sunrays on her back, though they dimmed slowly. It was a miracle that she and Percy had found this wonderful group of wolves and met the generosity of Somnus. She wasn't deaf to the strained silence overcoming them as they trekked through the rogue lands. From only timid bouts of conversation she was able to gather that Red's brother had gone missing after the band of wolves were ambushed by some unfriendly strangers. She couldn't help her curiosity towards the trio; the mute, the deaf, and the blind. Most would pity them, but they were admirable to Merida. It killed her that she couldn't communicate with any of them effectively, but she'd have no trouble learning. "Smell that?" Merida gasped as she stopped next to her brother, her nose lifting towards the sky, somewhere towards the south. She closed her eyes and released an elated sigh with a simple, gentle smile that shone with tenderness. "Camellia." Her favorite winter flower. Her eyes opened, her maw still dearly decorated with a grin. She had become enamored with Nevermore during their journey. She always had something to say, almost as if she couldn't help it, which, of course, Merida strongly related to. She loved hearing every word that came out of the blind wolf's mouth and was surprised to find out that she was a herbalist; well, maybe not. It wasn't unheard of to have a heightened sense when another had lost its function. She must've smelled it, too. "Camellia is my favorite," she said to Nevermore in the most excited whisper. "I owe you all a place in my pack," the alphess said, but Merida was uncertain if this invitation was extended to her and her brother. After all, they hadn't done anything for Eureka to deserve it. They were only lucky to have happened across the travelers. But, perhaps she was wrong. The alphess had been silent on the way to Somnus, and it didn't seem like a precedent for her usual behavior. She believed the girl, obviously very hurt, to be kinder than she had made herself out to be. Yes, she certainly would have made it clear if Merida and Percy were not welcome. She looked to her brother, only to feel a little guilty. For the past few months it was their mission to find Azaelia, and despite Percy's careless attitude Merida knew all he wanted was to reunite his siblings. Merida looked down to think. Was she willing to sacrifice her brother and sister for a place to call home? Would it even be home without them? "Maybe," she began timidly towards Percy in a hopeful whisper, her eyes trailing around, looking for a compromise. "Maybe for the winter? Until the storms are over?" Merida assured Percy that they'd be back on their search in no time. They wouldn't be able to continue their adventure much longer in this weather anyways. Jolon watched the wolves around him with wide, curious eyes, his focus shifting to Violet as she introduced himself and Corvidae to the few wolves that stood before them. The silvery, white male did not speak, afraid to say the wrong thing and he was well aware of the consequences if he did mess up, especially the devastation he would put himself through if he did happen to say something offensive to any of the wolves. So, Jolon stood silently, however silent did not mean he was not as excited and ready to make someone else smile as he always was, his tail wagged behind him with an uncontrollable fervor. Somehow, surprisingly, the white tail singed with silver fur along the top had not yet fallen off with how much it had been wagging recently. Dark amber eyes shifted now from one wolf to the next as he trotted along behind Beta Violet and the other wolves that were headed to the hunting territory, his tongue hanging out of his mouth putting a natural smile on his thick-furred, round face. The hunting territory, he could not wait to lay eyes on the glorious territory he would soon be frequenting, the place just felt more like home to him now that he had heard those words come from the Beta's mouth. Jolon kicked up snow as they went, watching the light powder shoot up in the air and slowly travel back to the ground, his pink tongue shooting out to try and catch it, something he had done as a puppy and even into adulthood before he had decided to leave his pack, that the long-legged male had always done for fun while he was traveling. It was one of the many things he had done on his journey here to keep himself sane, and it did not fail in its task here either, providing him with just enough mental stimulation to keep from bothering anyone else or interrupting a conversation. -Exit Somnus Hunting Territory- Beta Violet Apprentice Corvidae Salutary Murdoch

| D R A C O D E L T A S O M N U SThey had reached the commons with no problem whatsoever. The journey had been a solid four days. Eureka had been able to walk after the first couple, even with his protests to let her lean on him, she refused to do so, not wanting to look weak in front of the other wolves. He had not approved of this at all, knowing that his sister was in a lot of pain. Thankfully the she-wolf that had healed her back in the Dry Woods - having been named Nevermore - tagged along and kept tabs on Eureka’s conditions. He was thankful for the trio that had appeared in time to save his sister and Red, who had been badly injured as well. The male had healed a bit since their encounter with the sadistic bastard that had destroyed them all in seconds. His wounds were still healing, and they itched like hell. Nevermore, who was blind and had keen hearing, kept him from scratching at them by scolding him and applying herbs to them which stung like a bitch. But he got over it. Two others, Merida and Percy, had joined them on their journey home. Something about them reminded him of Azaelia, but he couldn’t quite put his paw on it. Finally entering the commons, Draco let out a sigh of relief, the smell of home enveloping him, and he wanted to collapse right then and there, but he remembered something. Aelin. She was probably waiting on him, waiting for his return. He had left her, telling her that he had something to tell her when he got back. It had been so long since he had seen the she-wolf, at the thought of her, his heart ached. He wanted to be near her, talk to her, and see her. The beautiful white lupine was the she-wolf he was going to profess his love to, that would hopefully become his mate. The thoughts of what happened came rushing back though, causing him to hesitate. He wasn’t going to rush into the hunting grounds - where everyone seemed to be - and alarm them with his various wounds. Although they were only noticeable if you really looked, the male was still quite battered. Listening to his sister, she went about Alphess duties, talking to each and everyone of the wolves that was there currently with them. Looking to the trio in particular, his eyes caught on the silent male, El. He had been rather protective of Eureka since they had joined up, and the male wasn’t too far away from where Eureka was during the journey home. Draco’s brotherly senses had kicked in, knowing that he needed to protect his sister from being harmed. Swishing his tail, the massive lupine waited patiently for the answers from the other wolves. Usually he would not approve of more wolves being added to their ranks, especially in the winter. With his way of thinking, most said he thought more like his father than mother, which he didn’t know if it was a particularly good or bad thing, but he took it as a sort of compliment. His father had been the first Alpha of Somnus after all. But after their encounter with those wolves, he knew they needed to add capable fighters to their ranks, and most of the wolves there were just that. They had an extra Salutary, and five wolves that could fend for themselves, from what he had seen over their journey home. He simply watched his sister, and scanned the commons, stomach twisting as he kept almost hallucinating that the white lupine he loved would come waltzing in and be there to greet him.

Sentinel Aelin
The girl with a golden heart
Despite the exhaustion that still pressed at her weary bones, Aelin made it to the Commons in a record time. Her willowy limbs bringing her to a sudden stop at the edge of the clearing, kicking up a spray of crystallised ice while her golden eyes fell upon the group that had accumulated from the rogue lands. So many new faces, too many for her to look over individually, especially when she was searching for one face in particular. His obscenely large figure and handsome oaken tones stood out within the group, her heart soaring into her mouth along with his name. "Draco." Her favourite word fell off her tongue in a breathless whimper, the mere sight of him causing her legs to tremble with nerves that she hadn't felt in—weeks? Months? She had lost count of the days that she had been without him.
Aelin couldn't feel her legs as she closed the distance between them, running the last few meters until she was standing in front of him, his body towering over her's in a way that comforted her to no end. It was him. He was home. She wasn't dreaming, and if she was, this was an incredibly cruel dream. She pressed her muzzle up into his fuzzy chest, the warmth from his body a sure sign that his was real. Aelin forced back the tears of relief that threatened to sting her eyes. "You're back," she spoke with silvery tones, a smile crossing her lips, this time with a warmth that was unforced and all-too real. But something was wrong. There were herbs still clinging to his pelt from remedies applied both days ago and fairly recently. Dried blood stained parts of his handsome fur, and that look in his eyes hinted at some kind of defeat. Worry immediately shook her. "Are you okay?" It was all she needed to know, and it was the only question that she would ask for now, her brow furrowing with concern. However, there was another question that she held back, not sure if Draco remembered the promise that he had made to her before he had departed so long ago. What did you want to tell me?

| D R A C O D E L T A S O M N U SDraco’s eyes searched, wanting the familiarly small body of his love to appear. As a white blur appeared, his heart raced, trying to shake his head if it were yet another hallucination that he had merely thought he saw. No. She was there. She was real. And she was heading right towards him. His eyes followed her, watching as she approached. It had been too long since he had seen her, and his heart raced with happiness while butterflies seemed to flutter through his stomach. His name rolled from her lips, sparking a desire to wrap around her, to hold her closely and never let go. As if it were a dream, she pressed her muzzle into his chest, causing the male to be surprised at the sudden gesture, but he welcomed it readily. You’re back. The words shook him to the very core. It had been so long since he had left, since he had told her he needed to tell her something when he came back. His mind and heart were working as one, or trying to, to come up with the right sentences. She caught onto the smell of herbs and dried blood that clung to his pelt, which caused the question. Are you okay? The answer stuck in his throat, eyes darting to Eureka for a mere second. Should he tell Aelin? No, he would do so privately when the time was right. “I’m fine,” He spoke gently, voice rumbling in his chest as he moved to touch his muzzle to Aelin’s forehead. “I missed you… so much…” Breathing in the scent of lemongrass that clung to her pelt, he was intoxicated by the mere scent, causing him to shudder involuntarily. His eyes looked down at her, admiring her beautiful features. Then his mind pressed at the lingering sentence he had left with her before he left. He needed to tell her something. The male was a little nervous to say the least. “There was something I needed to tell you, and I shouldn’t have waited this long to do so,” He whispered, bringing himself to pull away just for a second. He hated the cold air that brushed between the two of them, wanting to stay close to her as he professed, but he didn’t want to come off as overbearing. “Aelin,” He started off, a deep breath following that. The words stuck in his throat. He wasn’t even sure how to say it. What if she rejected him and only wanted to be his friend? Surely her reaction wouldn’t be that of a friend right? He had never experienced anything like this before, these feelings were brand new. He knew the love of a family, and of friends. But the feeling he had for Aelin was completely different. It was something he couldn’t explain, and even if he tried, it would take him until his very last breath to even begin to describe it. “I love you.”

Sentinel Aelin
The girl with a golden heart
His voice was a gentle yet deep and rumbling thunder that rolled through every bone in her body, another odd form of comfort that only he could provide to her soft and delicate soul. "I'm fine." Another wave of relief washed over her body, a breath escaping her lungs that she didn't even realise she had been holding on to. Draco's nose was suddenly brushing against her cranium, and she unconsciously ended up leaning into the slight touch. “I missed you… so much…” Oh lord, she had to bite her lip to stop herself from giggling like a little girl and crying like a newborn pup, but she couldn't deny that she felt the same, she could never deny the ache that had plagued her chest every moment that he had been away. "I missed you too," she mustered the words in a weak mumble.
“There was something I needed to tell you, and I shouldn’t have waited this long to do so,” Draco's whispered words sent Aelin's golden gaze shooting upwards to meet the pools of caramel that were his own optics. He had remembered. He had remembered. As he pulled away, she couldn't tell if the shiver that rolled down her spine was caused by the sudden brush of cold or the building anticipation—perhaps both were to blame. But there was no doubting the pounding in her chest caused by her wildly hopeful heart as Draco's lips parted and formed her name. "Aelin," the warmth of her smile seemed to grow as her name slipped off his tongue for the first time in ages, the sound of his voice wrapping around her name feeling so right in ways that she couldn't even begin to describe. Her heart pounded harder, so hard that she was afraid of every wolf in the damn Commons hearing it. Time slowed as the few seconds of silence that hung between them began to feel like minutes, before finally, his mouth opened, and Aelin's word was set on fire.
"I love you."
Everything was suddenly so much lighter. She was pretty sure her heart had stopped beating all together as a surging fire of joy reached every last inch of her body. He, Draco, loved her, Aelin. And she, Aelin, loved him, Draco. The tears finally began to roll down her ivory cheeks, burning the snow at her feet as they reach the ground. No time was wasted as she nuzzled her cranium back into his chest, his intoxicating scent of spruce and the underlying tones of rich honey wrapping around her tiny figure as she savoured the warmth, the softness, and the sheer peace that she felt as she whispered with the confidence and pride of a million armies, "I love you too."

Best word to describe Red was uncomfortable. She ached from her shoulders down and every time she looked at Eureka she had conflicted feelings. Not all of them negative, but mostly negative feelings. Her heart and head was in turmoil, so she followed the procession like a zombie, much like the Alphess leading them. Their little group became a larger group, with more adding themselves and none of them being her brother. Ridley was lost, officially. Only months prior had they rejoined again, and he was lost, again. Pain ached in her heart and she couldn't help but put the blame on herself. Another pain, it had been too long since she had left Athena and Scenery. Both were unable to hunt when she left, which meant at the very least they starved to death. Another thing to add to her list of sins. Sighing she pulled away from the main wolves and stood off to the side. Fresh tracks were leading to another section of pack lands. She vaguely heard Eureka talking. Something about home. Pack lands filled with snow and scents of wolves, similar to the scent of Draco and Eureka. None of it felt like home. The area felt very confining and she pulled away awkwardly, eyes darting to others to see if they felt the same way. Of course not, though, no one had every really felt the way Red felt. But she did know this, she could not survive winter on her own. Especially now that those monsters were out there. So here she stood, awkwardly looking around and trying to remain faceless to not offend her new... friends? Traveling companions was a better option. Looking to Eureka as she approached, her earlier attitude washed away and her words held a pain that seemed like she related to losing a brother, perhaps she has? Looking to Draco and Eureka, she wondered if they had more family. "He will be fine," Red finally answered, "we were born rogues and know how to handle ourselves well enough." Words were empty though and Red honestly didn't know if Ridley would be alright or not. She could only hope. Eyes observed Eureka interacting with the others and wrinkled her nose for a fraction. She was never one to find flirting or even the beginnings of flirting attractive. Which is why she found Percy practically disgusting and avoided the male at all times, however, her reaction was from El and Eureka. They seemed to have eyes for each other and she felt a tad annoyed. Pulling away she removed herself fully from any conversation going on there. Sitting on the sidelines she would wait until proper discussions took place. Perhaps, Eureka would let her come and go as she pleased. To gather information and if she gained their trust, bring back wolves that she thought would do well. For now, though, Red would lend her jaws and claws for the pack in whatever that meant. Hunting, defending, or preparing for war. Alpha Draco Sentinel Aelin Alphess Eureka @blue El Apprentice Nevermore Merida Paladin Percy

They had decided to tag along with the Alphess and her brother. Listening to them speak of their home, it gave Nevermore something to look forward to when it came to the scents that she would soon collect and store in her memory to cherish. Pack lands were few and far between, and thus she wanted to know exactly what pack territory smelled like. Her brother and sister had followed, their scents comforting as they traveled through unknown territory. She had talked unrelentlessly on the way there, the three wolves they had rescued hardly replying to her inquiries when she bothered them. She had at least learned their names through exchanges. Eureka, Draco and Red. Eureka and Draco were siblings, whereas Red was a rogue that was assisting them in getting home after the storm that had blown through had stranded them much too far away from the land they resided in. Nevermore wanted to know why they had left their territory in the first place. Were they a free roaming pack that allowed their wolves to do whatever they wanted, or were they on a mission of some sort? Nevermore had asked, but was hushed harshly by Draco. It seemed like the male didn’t want to be pried to much. Along the way, she had kept tabs on their wounds, being able to sense and smell the difference day to day with their wounds. She had also kept tabs on her siblings feelings. She had helped Blue and El’s wounds, not being able to know what had happened to her sister as their brother’s vocal cords didn’t work, and Blue could only tap her paws to Nevermore, one for yes, two for no. Yes or no questions were the only thing she could get from her siblings, and it was lonely being the only one able to form sentences and speak. Residing in her thoughts and rambling, Nevermore found herself on a lonely plain of existence. Not having anyone to listen, nor reply. The three that could had themselves in their own little world, the brother worrying for the sister, the rogue being a bit standoffish. Along their journey to Eureka and Draco’s home - known as Somnus - two more had joined them. Merida and Percy were their names. She had talked their ears off for the first few minutes they had joined, rambling and ceasing to let up on her words that poured from her mouth. Neither seemed to mind, and she tried to keep a decent conversation going, although disappearing often into her own thoughts. It was unnerving to know that others besides her siblings were listening. They were silently judging the words she spoke and the thoughts that randomly came across the slew of works she spoke. She didn’t let it bother her too much. As if they would spend three days with her rambling and not at least say something to tell her to be quiet, or try to move away. When a sense of relief washed over the air, Nevermore kept her blind eyes forward as her nose inhaled. The scent of a pack was prominent. And with Eureka and Draco’s relief washing over the group like an ocean wave crashing down onto the coast, Nevermore could only assume that they had arrived at their home. Their scents melded well with the territory, only confirming her suspicions even more so. Nevermore kept close to her siblings, keeping her nose aware of everything around her. The smell of this pack was wondrous, although a hint of sadness and death clung to the scent, almost as if it were trying to hold onto the pack as long as it could before the breeze whisked it away. She wanted to know the history behind this pack, to know why it smelled so much of grief and sorrow. The group came to a stop after wandering into the territory more. More scents flooded over her. The scent of more wolves. Each held their own personal touch, and she reveled in the scents for just a moment. That was until finally someone other than herself spoke. It was Merida. The she-wolf that had been courteous and talked to Nevermore a bit before now. She loved the smell of Camellia. Duly noted. She caught the scent that Merida was talking about and breathed in, inhaling as much as she could to mark the scent down under the name ‘Camellia’. “I really like that smell,” She said, her head turned towards where she would imagine the she-wolf would be. “I haven’t come across that before, it has such a gentle and innocent smell,” She continued on, until Eureka started speaking. Nevermore knew out of respect she shouldn’t talk while an Alpha was. Listening to Eureka, she addressed each and every group of wolves. Percy and Merida first, saying that they were welcome to stay in the pack if they so chose to. Red was also given the reassurance that she would once again meet up with her brother. Nevermore questioned whether or not that would truly happened. Unless this pack would allow its members to freely roam the rogue territories, there was no way that she would find her brother unless she snuck out of the pack, became a rogue once more, or her brother ventured into Somnus territory. Being caught up in her thoughts about Red’s brother, she had almost not heard Eureka start speaking to them. But her head turned as she kept speaking, saying that they were welcome to stay as well. She could sense her brother’s eyes burning into her side, much as Blue’s would be to. She was their decision maker. She was the one who got to choose whether or not they were staying in the territory or not. Nevermore pondered for a moment, sensing that from her brothers actions - what she could sense of them - he felt some sort of pull towards the she-wolf. Taking in a deep breath, she would bump her shoulder into El and Blue before speaking. “We would love to stay with your pack,” She said, her blind eyes looking towards Eureka with a blank stare, but the smile on her face and the slow relaxed wagging of her tail would portray her emotions much better. “And I think El really likes you. Is it cool if I go looking for herbs and all? I want to get a feel of the land,” She said, then looked to Blue making sure that the she-wolf could read her lips. Mouthing ‘I want you to come with me’, she headed off to the edge of the commons, her paws stepping forwards timidly until Blue would come to her rescue and be her eyes. Although what she just told Eureka would spark some embarrassment from her brother, but she smirked at the idea. El had a crush on the Alphess, and she could already sense it. Not much changed when they joined the Somnus party, except for constant bites from Merida. Of course he saw the pain in the Alphess' eyes, he wasn't sure she knew that she was making that expression, he wasn't sure if others knew she was making that expression. But her face changed every time he came close, at first it seemed wary, now the expression was annoyance. He preferred her being annoyed with him than wary. Of course he cut back quite a lot with her, but he still made his jokes. The big, silent boy El seemed to also grow annoyed with his constant flirtation, especially when it came to his sisters. The two were quite lovely, although trying to converse with them proved difficult; more so with Blue. He attempted to deliver his messages through finding cute things to bring her, the little effort sometimes seemed to bother her. He still tried. Nevermore talked his ear off and he barely managed to say a word or two. He enjoyed her voice none-the-less. Red, now Red was a spite fire hidden in Red fur. He was sure she could fight like hell, given the chance, especially since she gave him quite the bite at the start of his travels. Merida burst out laughing at his shocked expression. Well he knew now not to try and nip at her, her nips were not playful. At all. As they entered the commons, the air was sweet. Much like the sibling duo that lead them. Merida seemed concerned with his decision to stay or not for the winter. He had made up his mind a while ago or he wouldn't have travelled into the pack lands. There was something that screamed familiar to him and he had a feeling they needed to stay. "We will gladly accept," He spoke, eyeing Merida for her reaction. A gentle smile her way and a playful nip. He pulled away to see a sweet figure make her way to the brother of Eureka. Draco, the silent giant of the journey. Eyes stayed there before pulling away for a moment, his eyes going to the sisters Blue and Nevermore. Both were going to explore the land, Merida seemed interested to accompany, so why shouldn't he follow as well. "Excuse me, M'Lady," He playfully dipped his head Eureka's way before coming up alongside Blue. Her head snapped to see who was it that entered her peripheral before going back to her business. "Nevermore, darling" he purred to let her know he was there. "I've been thinking," something struck him as odd as a scent filled his nose as he neared one of the dens. The smell was familiar, sickenly so. He pulled away from the ladies without much word. The scent was everything but nothing. He couldn't remember what this smell was. If he had realized this den was his lost sister he would have wept with joy, but instead he remembered her smell differently. Perhaps the years being a part changed her scent or his memory held the wrong scent. But his heart beat incredibly fast in his chest and his interest was piqued. Turning to see Merida not to far away, he gave her a look of questioning. Still his mind did not put his lost sister was the culprit of the smell, but just a weird familiarity.

Murdoch walked into the commons, the smell of Eureka and Draco alerted him of their arrivals, as well as multitude of other smells. Coming into the commons, he was surprised to see how many wolves were truly in the commons. Looking to Ocean, "Lay him down behind my den," he said simply before approaching the group. Eureka, Draco, and a few unknown strangers all had battle wounds of some sort or another. "Alphess, glad to see your return," he said softly, he was going to say more but stopped when he made eye contact. There was something in her eyes that reminded him so much of his mother that he stopped breathing for a second. There were too many wolves around to talk to her about anything, instead he dipped his head. "I see that some wolves have injuries, should I open my den for business?" Although, looking to see that most of them had been temporarily treated so maybe he didn't need to look over them? Another healer brought in? For once he was happy his den was located a little farther away from the main commons, to make sure that his patients have privacy. But he wouldn't push his Alphess if she needed time, but he wanted desperately to talk to her. Alphess Eureka General Ocean Azaelia Alpha Draco El @blue Apprentice Nevermore

| Azaelia. Former Somnus Alphess
Her eyes shifted from the ground, where small, light spots of blood stained the snow, to the cumulation of wolves near the border. A mysterious, yet comforting smell extended to her nose, which she had brushed her tongue over to clear the blood. Not knowing exactly what, or who, she was looking for, Azaelia's eyes danced from corner to corner, and her tail began to sway behind her in excited anticipation. She wasn't sure what she gathered from the smell, but it was exhilarating.
Murdoch and Ocean passed her from behind as her feet planted in the middle of the clearing. On their backs was Uzumati's body. Of course she knew the effects of death on the body, but she was surprised, and heartbroken, to see him look so small and helpless. The wag of her tail slowed to a stop, and she bowed her head as the body passed and watched until it was out of sight.
"Eureka!" Azaelia let out a small howl and ran to embrace her. She was an alphess, but Azaelia still viewed her as her little apprentice. "Oh, Draco," she whispered as she made her way to embrace him, too. The siblings kept the memories of her parents, and Luke, alive. She could not distinguish the scent of their blood with that which had clogged her nose, but would have otherwise been the first to ask what had happened to them.
"I've missed you both." Tears formed in her bright eyes while a wag returned to her tail. Her voice thickened with curiosity, and while she didn't yet suspect anything drastic about their experience, she was concerned about Eureka's demeanor. Her eyes shifted between the two siblings. "You were gone too long. How did it go out there?"
But her attention veered to her right, where rogue figures moved about the border. "I see you've brought back some... friends..." Her voice slowed as two of the figures became clear to her. Her previous conversation with the siblings had now been forgotten. Could it be? She traveled a small distance towards the border before what, who, she saw had frozen her solid.
"Percy? Mer?" She was terrified and delighted at once. Percy didn't leave her pack on good terms, and she had no idea what Merida knew about what she'd done to their mother, or if either of them blamed her for what happened to their father. It was all hard to process, but in the moment, she became overwhelmed with happiness.

Make room for the things that add beauty to your life "We will gladly stay," her darling brother said. On the other side of her, Nevermore was accepting Eureka's invitation towards the funny little trio; Red, too. Oh, she was going to have so many new friends here! She giggled down into the snow as teeth gently nipped her ear, and her tail wagged so energetically it might've very well fallen off! She had to contain her laughter as El got called out by his sister, but she was quite scared for him, too. She didn't know the alphess very well nor the customs of the pack, and hoped there were no harsh punishments for a wolf getting hanky panky with a superior. If so, Percy was going to have a rough run here. She happily followed Nevermore and her sister to the treeline, where she bounced around looking for herbs. Any little flower, pod or leaf she found on the ground would be brought to Nevermore with incessant questions. "What's this? Is it useful? Can I eat? Help I'm choking!" But Nevermore seemed to enjoy any bit of conversation she could get, and Merida was happy to share hers. She was certain the two would be friends. "Do you get lonely?" Merida had to ask cautiously. The dynamic of the trio was a mystery to her, and perhaps she would be offended by the suggestion that her siblings made her feel lonely sometimes, but never knowing if somebody is listening, never getting a response to your ideas; how could one not feel alone even in the presence of those she loves? She heard Nevermore's response, and would have given a happy reply, but a curious scent grew stronger and stronger. She looked to Percy with wide eyes, and he smelled it too. Though she couldn't pin it, she somehow felt that she and Percy were the only ones sensing it. Soon, Merida was bursting with happiness. It was their sister. Alive! With her own family! Merida hadn't even noticed the dead body being dragged behind a snowy den. All she could see was her sister. Her paws beat the snow a thousand times a minute, and when she reached Azaelia, she danced around her. Oh, she remembered; Azaelia isn't one for touching. It messed up her pristine coat. "Aren't ya gonna say something?" Merida slowed her pace, coming to a stop in front of Zee, out of breath, her smile leaving her face. For a long time, Merida loathed her sister for what she had done. Sometimes, she blamed him for the death of her father. When she reunited with Percy, she was hesitant to join his life mission to find Azaelia. Looking into Azaelia's burning eyes, Merida wondered if that's exactly what she was so afraid of in this moment, but seeing all the hurt made Mer forget about all those things. In this moment, Azaelia was her sister, and she loved her. "It's ok Zee. We're here now." Ignoring her sister's petty distate for physical contact, Merida pressed forward and embraced Azaelia. A now-silent Wiggles trudged behind the group entering the grounds, clearly saddened by the sudden death of his best friend. His mind clouded with thoughts, something he didn't experience very often, and this sadness that was very new. There was no reason for this, no silver lining he could find within the clouds. It made him wonder if he viewed the world in a wrong light. Had things happened to him that he didn't register as horrible things because he was so naive? Was this a good trait to have, or a bad one? He doubted everything now. Maybe he would get over this quickly, like he did with most things. Go back to being the happy face that brightened everyone's day no matter how dire the circumstances. But then again, maybe this was a turning point. Maybe it was time he do something good for the pack and do his job as a scout and search for a land that isn't cursed with death for them to stay in. The burial was beginning. He trotted faster to catch up to the group, faking a small smile and a bow of his head as he joined the circle of wolves watching one of their own being buried. Cori's walk back into the commons was uneventful. He wanted to show respect for the frame just fallen in his new pack, and honestly, the feeling of wanting to chat and get to know the Beta had disappeared once he heard the news. His stone tumbled tortuously in his jowls, a salmon tongue pushing it this way and that as he longed for his alder bark. The patched male had left it outside Murdoch's den in his whirlwind first meeting with the commons so that he could talk better with the Salutary. His teeth ached with every uncoordinated 'clack,' but until he could scoop his strip of bark into his mouth there was nothing he could do but suffer the burden of his compulsions.
Somehow even more wolves had materialized into the commons in just the short time he had been gone. Eight, to be exact! Murdoch had addressed one of them as Alphess, so Cori's attention was grabbed instantly. His mismatched gaze scanned the other group of wolves, eventually landing on one of the smallest. While his mind processed the fact that she was his Alphess, his eyes trailed down to the wounds that were obviously covered on the go. What had happened? They seemed to not be too bad, but looking at the absolutely huge male by her side, he was in far worse wear. Those wounds weren't new, they probably had infections and some dirt in them. But at the same time, someone had covered them, so maybe there was another Salutary in the seven wolves he didn't know!
Azaelia, that's what he believed her name was, called out many names, Eureka, Draco, Percy, Mer? Maybe that one was a nickname. There were just so many names to learn! At least he knew Murdoch, Jolon, and Violet for sure. He was torn between wanting to see if he could learn anything from Murdoch as he called out to invite those injured into his den, and hoping to meet the plethora of new wolves. However, there was a much more important matter at hand. Trotting quickly over to the Salutary's den, Cori's tail pausing to thwack against a nearby tree truck the standard three times as he chewed his bark for a few seconds in an attempt to quickly relieve some of his tooth pain. After his short absence, he darted back to the side of one of the scouts that had been in the hunting grounds. He wasn't all that normal himself, but he could see from travelling back that there was something else going on within him. It wasn't bad at all! Merely wobbled steps and a splayed out stance, something going on in the head perhaps? But this was no time to question. Taking a seat beside him, Cori bowed his head as the burial of Uzumati proceeded. As quietly as a could, he whispered, "I'm sorry for your loss." | D R A C O D E L T A S O M N U SDraco’s heart seemed to want to break out of his chest. It was beating rapidly as he looked over Aelin. The small she-wolf was his world, the only thing that had kept him here for so long. She was the light the male needed, and he would give her anything and everything that he could. Tears fell, but as she rested her cranium on his chest, he felt like his heart would burst from happiness. The words that she breathed out only furthered the male into a reeling world of happiness. Nothing but them existed in that moment, and he felt himself curl around her. Although he wouldn’t cry of happiness, as the brute was not one to show emotion in that way, his movements were soft and held a delicate nature, not wanting to hurt her with his overwhelmingly large stature. Neck muscles strained, nuzzling his head against hers as he finally could breathe. He was happy, and he could never feel happier. The burdens he had carried since he was a pup seemed to melt as he was enveloped by the sweet fragrance that drifted from his mate. His mate. No one else's. Her love was his and his alone, and he was more than willing to keep it that way. Their moment of happiness however, would be shattered as his gaze lifted to see Murdoch and Ocean carrying in what looked to be Uzumati’s body. The male sighed, knowing that there was never going to be a happy moment in Somnus. And if there was, it was always shattered by something going wrong. The land was plagued with sorrow, and he wanted to change that, no matter what it would take. He hoped that with the pack finally rebuilding itself, that they would be able to move forward, away from the sadness that trickled ever so slowly from the land. He knew that Eureka was trying her best, and he would make sure that his sister’s dream would come true. That their pack would finally be happy. Looking down at Aelin, he breathed an apology before moving, Azaelia approaching them. He was embraced by the older she-wolf, taking comfort in her familiar scent. She asked them how everything went. Should he tell her? Looking towards Eureka, he wondered what his sister was thinking, if she wanted to tell their pack of what had happened on their journey home. How they had gotten lost and ambushed. But, as timing would have it, Azaelia became distracted by two of the wolves that had come with them to the pack. Percy and Merida. The nickname inclined that she knew them, and with her moving away, he looked towards Murdoch, who was asking if he needed to open his den, but his wounds would be fine. He wanted Eureka to take this opportunity to slip away and get checked over by their Salutary. Nevermore had been a huge help along their journey, tending to the wounds that were there, but he would only go to Murdoch if his wounds were infected. The scars that would form would serve as a reminder for him to work harder so that he could protect his pack and his sister from the threats that lingered outside the borders. He returned his attention to Aelin who was a mere foot from him now that he had pulled away to greet his pack members. He knew that duty would call, but he didn’t quite know Uzumati that well, he wasn’t sure what he was supposed to do in that moment, so instead he opted to looking towards the new members, gaze flickering to Eureka to see what his sister would do. His first concern was her, and he would be there to help her if she needed it. All she had to do was ask.
