Zelda enjoyed the company of her mother, and felt it was her duty to act in her place when the litter was left with their father. He was a strong parent who knew how to discipline his children, and he had so many fun stories to tell, but he certainly didn’t have the mark of compassion that mothers innately possessed, especially hers. Zelda had already soaked up the maternal traits of her mother, but was also learning various traditional values from her father. She was the perfect guardian when she had to be, and she had become very prideful about it. “Good morning mother,” she whispered with a smile as she melted into her mother’s embrace. She crawled across her arms slowly, with tiny feet padding lightly against her thinning fur. Her intelligence wasn’t yet akin to her elders’, but she was certain her mother’s coat had thinned. Must have had something to do with the warmer air. Mother called it “spring,” Zelda recalled. She quite liked the spring. “Hi daddy,” she yipped quietly as she pawed at his nose, still pressed into mother’s chest. “Wake up. I’m hungry.” If she’d learned one thing from her mother, it was to be assertive about what you wanted. Only the strongest leaders were persistent and undeterred by the fear of rejection. She still cast her father a sweet smile, a little cherry on top of an eloquent request. She lifted her body from the bed she’d made in her mother’s arms and tip tied to the entrance of their house. She stuck her nose into the air and took a peek into the green outdoors before looking back expectantly at her parents. She wanted to explore today. A final glance, this time with a suggestive brow, landed on Link as she wondered if he was thinking the same thing. She knew him well enough to assume his interest in a little adventure. Sentinel Aelin
The girl with a golden heart
-- Timeskip: 2 Months -- Aelin was awoken by the cruel sensation of the cold as it settled in along her back. She groaned against the feeling, wrapping herself tighter around the pups that had buried themselves into her stomach. The she-wolf flicked her tail backwards, aiming to find the body of Draco, but instead found nothing but an empty space behind her. He had left the den already.
Golden eyes opened and squinted against the soft blue morning light that was slowly beginning to illuminate the space of their den, her neck craning to the side hoping to catch a glimpse of her mate sitting outside. Aelin felt so much pride thinking about how far he had come. When she first met him he had been struggling with his place within the pack, harbouring an unhealthy amount of bitterness towards his sister because of their past. And now he was the best brother that Eureka could hope for, and an Alpha that the Somnus wolves looked up to. A smile creased her lips as she laid her gaze upon him, love blooming in her heart to see him so content.
It had been a hectic time for Somnus over the last couple of months. After the ordeal of Eureka's surprise pregnancy, the pack seemed to have grown closer than they already were, each wolf vowing to give as much love and support to Eureka and her pups as they did with every other mother who had come before her. Aelin had struggled during the short time Draco had spent away from the pack to help his sister, and if it wasn't for the help of Jolon she possibly would have ended up having a breakdown thanks to the stress that all six of her babies brought. But she had quickly learnt the balance between her pups and her duties of scouting the land as any good Sentinel should, and Jolon had made an excellent uncle to her brood.
Aelin moved the foreleg that she had draped over the sleeping bundle of pups, her babies having grown so much bigger now that they were two months old. She began to gently nudge and lick each of them until they were awake, ignoring any protests that may have started about the importance of sleeping in. "C'mon, rise and shine." The mother coaxed, cooing each of her babies from sleep. "It's a beautiful day, let's go and say good morning to your father," she suggested, peeling herself away from her pups and cutting them off from the warmth she provided.
The ivory female emerged from the confines of her den, stretching her back and opening her jaws in a deep yawn. A quick shake of her pelt was enough to rid the last bit of clinging weariness as she set her gilded gaze upon the large frame of her mate. "Good morning, love," she greeted, jumping up to lick his cheek before sitting beside him. If it weren't for the burden of their pups, she would have spent this time gazing out at the peaceful atmosphere that had enwrapped the Somnus Common Grounds, the snow melting away from the ground to reveal sprouts of lush green grass, an indicator that spring was definitely on it's way, just in time for her pups as they had started venturing out of the den. Her gilded gaze was quickly set upon the six little figures that would have waddled out of the den, and if she didn't count exactly six heads out and ready to start the day, she would have some choice words for whatever lazy butt decided to stay in the den.

Benjen yawned loudly stretching as his mother stood up, he wobbled for a moment before standing straight. He nuzzled Oberyn softly helping to wake his brother up faster. "C'mon" He bounded after his mother as she left the den, looking back at his siblings happily. He stared back too long, bumping into the leg of his mother as she counted her pups. He glanced up his ears perking up quickly. He pranced around his parents, a ritual he'd begun the second he could walk. He was always full of energy and seemed happy to be around his family. After his third lap, he glanced at the snow once more quickly going to jump into a pile. "Oberyn come play" He shouted happily as he dove into a snow pile, even though he loved it soon it would melt despite this he was excited to see what a new season would hold for his pack. He was pulled from his thoughts as he was tackled by the rest of his siblings, he groaned softly beginning to play with them in the remaining snow.

Cassiel hated it. This 'life' that he had been forced into. He sat awake, staring at his mother. In a corner. Far away from her. Already, in every breath she exhaled in her slumber, he could hear wisps of her hatred. Just as with Uriel. Just as with Azrael. Their unmoving lips spoke to him in ways that twisted his guts. Surely, yes, he could do something like 'love' them, but did they 'love' him back? It was early, still dark, no one else was awake yet but the one alabaster pup whose eyes were never closing as he looked at those he shared a den with. For now it was only his voices that plagued him. Uriel's couldn't move him yet, neither could Azrael's. Not like Azrael talked much anyway.
Slowly, as time crawled on, light began to brighten the opening of the den. At last, the suffocating, stagnant air could be cleared as the pup blatantly left whatever 'safety' that adults perceived within the swallowing pit of that den. Outside, Cassiel stood. He saw a large wolf, someone he recognized. His uncle. He lay still on the ground. Alone. But only for a brief moment. Then his mate approached, and six bouncing bodies joined them in the outside world. Cassiel was poisoned. Jealousy. One big, happy family. Loving mother, loving father, happy children. He knew none of their names, none of their faces. But he was already wary of them. They were perfect. Mother, father, children - where was his father? His family wasn't perfect, not in the slightest. But his Uncle's was. And Cassiel hated it already.

Crimson eyes were unblinking as Azrael stared out at the world beyond their den. The cruel biting ice that had blanketed the grounds of Somnus was beginning to thaw, much to the young male's disappointment. He had managed to find a great deal of enjoyment out of burying himself in the ice until his body felt as numb as his mind, leaving his entire being frozen—unthinking, unmoving. But every day was growing warmer, every morning when the sun flooded the earth more and more snow begun to melt away into pathetic piles of mush, and Azrael was left with nothing but the gleeful yaps of his cousins bombarding the empty space in his head, if mother wasn't here to tell him the how wrong it would be to enact his darkest thought, those butterfly chasing pups would be staining what little snow was left with that beautiful ruby red liquid that he had learn to savour during every meal.Azrael kept himself close to his mother's side, not so much caring for the warmth that she provided but rather hoping that he might elicit that rare sensation of love that he barely knew the feeling of. He honestly had yet figured out if it was because their mother deigned to give him and his siblings that motherly love that he had watched Aelin and Azaelia give to their own litters, or if it was simply his own fault in regard to his inability to recognise such things. Azrael wanted so desperately to feel that love from the creature that was raising them, he wanted so desperately to feel anything other than the completely lack of emotion that left him feeling so thirsty to feel absolutely anything. Despite only being young, he was beginning to recognise a few things that drew out that odd sensation of feeling within his body. The solid meats that they had been getting recently was one of them, the taste and feel of the flesh and blood against his palette had managed to trigger rushes of endorphins that he was so unused to. Another instance was being in the presence of his sister, Uriel. The praise that he received from her was enlightening, and all he had to do was follow through with whatever she wanted or needed, and he was more than happy to follow her word for that easy feeling of worth. The young male lay dead-still beside his mother, dull eyes shifting to watch Cassiel curled up in his corner of the den. It seemed that the pair were simply waiting for the day to start, each unspeaking an uninterested in provoking the other. Azrael shifted his gaze as he waiting for mother to wake, watching his cousins as they tumbled out in the Commons. Disgusting.

Oberyn’s paws scuffled in the dirt, his mind full of dreams of his future, and what he would one day become, because Oberyn knew that one day he would be great, he would step out of the shadow of his family and be better than everyone else, even his father. However, before his dream could finish he felt a large, wet nose nudge his side, and then a few seconds later a coarse tongue ran over her back, waking him up from his sleep. "C'mon, rise and shine." His mother’s voice rang clearly in their den, his five siblings also beginning to rouse themselves. "It's a beautiful day, let's go and say good morning to your father," and then promptly their mother removed herself taking her warmth with her. Oberyn whined softly moving his body, he had no desire to wake up yet, his dream had just been getting good, he was saving his parents, siblings, and cousins as all good heroes do. However, when Benjen’s nose nudged softly into his side as well, followed by the word, “C’mon,” the pup forced his eyes open, making his paws respond in turn as he slowly followed his brother out, watching as Benjen crashed into their mother’s leg. Oberyn snorted and stopped to stretch before fully exiting the den, the dark tan and brown tail raised high in the air, wagging excitedly as his brother shouted, "Oberyn come play."
Benjen dove head first into a pile of snow and when his head popped up, Oberyn’s own body plowed into him, taking his brother out with a loud laugh. He wrestled in the muddy snow with his brother for a few seconds, dealing a few soft blows to him and receiving some as well, before he turned and darted away, looking back towards his brother as he ran. He began to turn his head back around, but before he could get his eyes all the way back in front of him he ran shoulder first into a fleshy, furry object, around the same size as himself. Oberyn grunted, his shoulder beginning to throb a bit from the impact but nothing too major, and the pup went toppling head over paws until he rolled to a stop a few feet away from the object he had hit full speed. Oberyn looked about in confusion, trying to identify who or what he had accidentally ran into, and his golden eyes landed on the alabaster fur of his cousin, Cassiel. Immediately Oberyn pushed himself up, ears laying back against his skull as he approached his cousin, voicing his apologies quickly, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hit you, are you ok cousin?" Oberyn didn't know the other pup's name, had yet to meet any of his cousins yet, but he knew the they were related, and knew that even if he didn't know a whole lot about them that he did in fact want to learn more and at least try to get along with them.Pup Cassiel Pup Benjen

Blue eyes stare out across the grounds as the happy family reunites and rejoices with each other, and there’s ice in the the young females gaze. She watches, unflinching, unmoving and she feels nothing. No sense of warm, of affection. No desire to join them. No bright bubbling happiness at seeing such playful interactions. No. Nothing. Only the cool icy chill that runs through her veins, rises in his chest, the desperate, howling desire to feel _something_. She tilts her head, gaze watching Cassiel, curiously -- she’s learned, over time, that her brother hears whispers of his own, shares in the voices that come to her. She’s about to rise up on small paws and make her way to speak with him -- when she sees one of her cousins barrel into him, and a voice pipes up to _talk_. She lets out a derisive snort, instinctively, turning her head away again. She’ll leave Cassiel to attempt to hold up a conversation on her own -- it amuses her to imagine exactly how _well_ that will probably go. And what paranoias he’ll whisper to her later when he takes to overthinking it all again. Uriel is pressed up against her Azrael on his other side -- he’s a barrier between herself and her mother, a guardian of some sorts-- and he’s laying so still he may as well be dead. She might have thought he was, if it weren’t for his warmth and the occasional slow rise and fall of his body. She tilts her pale muzzle his way, giving him a nudge. Affectionate. Or rather, as close to affectionate as she could get. “I had the dreams again.” She says, vaguely, as if he could be addressed to anyone. “They’re always… the same ones.” Visions, images of precious, beautiful things -- but horrifying things, too. Uriel could never quite bring herself to call them nightmares though. Her gaze shifts to her mother, resting-- or was she listening in? Uriel wasn’t sure what quite to make of her, whether she could be trusted with knowing what she saw. Azrael was loyal, he would never breathe a word to another soul- Cassiel… he was easily cowed to her will. But their mother... “We should go out there, brother,” she says, voice quiet, soft -- some honeyed thing she used so often to ensnare him. “Things are far too… stale in here.” She offers a small smile, quirked and wicked -- one that doesn’t entirely reach her eyes. The sound of her mothers gentle voice was the first thing the pale pup registered upon waking. She had been asleep on her side, snoring soundly beside her honey coated brother Jaime, the very tip of her pink tongue sticking out as a sign of peaceful slumber. Jade eyes gently blinked a few times before opening, a soft whine leaving her small body in protest. She wanted to stay here, cuddled up with her mother and siblings all day, growing big and strong was tiring work but Aelin gave her no such choice as she got up to leave the den, joining her father outside. Seeing her mothers mind made up, Cersei gently got to her wobbly paws and gave a soft yawn before finally standing. Clumsy paws followed after her mother, Benjen and Oberyn were the first to join her. Upon seeing her father Cersei's small white tail wagged, padding over to him before looking up at him with warm jade eyes, her father was every bit her hero and the barrier that protected them from danger. "Good morning." She greeted him politely. The sound of pawfalls off to her side made Cersei turn her head in her brothers direction, watching two of her many siblings wrestle in the muddy snow, her ears flattening, they were going to get all sticky and gross in there, she hoped they would stay away from her. Her head tilted gently as she watched Oberyn go on a collision course with one of their three cousin's, Cassiel. She wasn't sure how to feel about any of those other pups, she hadn't met them yet, but she wasn't sure she even wanted to. Cersei moved her gaze to her mother, looking up at her before turning and weaving her way under one of her front legs, sitting right between her front paws, looking up at her as her tail thumped gently, wasn't her mother so pretty? Daenerys was nestled next to Arya, peacefully sleeping next to her little sister as the morning light filtered in through the entrance, her violet eyes blinking open as she looked to her mother who was also awake. Her father was nowhere to be seen in the den, as per usual. He got up early in the morning to make sure that the pack was okay, and to wait patiently from them all to wake up. She had heard from her mother that he recently had become Alpha of the pack alongside their Aunt, Eureka. She wondered if she would be able to meet her cousins and her Aunt for that matter, being told that they couldn’t be disturbed for now. Today however, could be different. She would potentially meet the rest of her family, and finally be able to know who they were. Bringing herself to get up as her mother spoke of greeting their father, the eldest looked over her siblings, watching as Oberyn and Benjen went off to play. Cersei was up as well, walking over to their father. Giving her gigantic father a small greeting of her paw on his she craned her neck to look at him. “Good morning,” She spoke, her tone gentle and elegant as she spoke. She looked to Cersei, and her head turned to Oberyn and Benjen’s play as they collided with another pup, no doubt their cousin. She wondered how the male would react, what he would do. Oberyn apologized, asking if the male was okay, but after that she turned back to her parents and Cersei as they were the closest thing to her currently. “Are we going to meet our cousins and Aunt Eureka today?” She asked both of them, coming to settle between her mother’s paws as she awaited her answer. “Do you know much about them?” The question was more so directed at her father, knowing that he had been one of the only wolves to interact with their cousins. Violet had heard the stressed calls from Draco, and they still haunted her. Hearing the wolf she had raised call out in shrill tones for help for his sister who had gone into labor and been sickly was horrifying for the she-wolf. She often woke with terrors that Eureka had not made it through the pregnancy, that her children had tore her apart from the inside out. But this wasn’t true. They were all four alive and healthy, Eureka getting better day by day, and her three pups were growing steadily. She had taken some time to bring Eureka food here and there, although Draco often took it from her before she could enter the den. He was protective over her at least, and she was glad to see that he was no longer bitter towards his sister over what had happened years ago.
With twelve total pups in the pack, Somnus was rather busy with hunting. She found that Jolon was extremely good at hunting, and had been promoted to the Hunting Superior position rather quickly, and she often helped try and bring in food for the pack alongside him. They needed to keep up the amount if they were going to be able to feed everyone in the pack. Her den was small, and cold as she made a small stretch to get up. She had been awake for a while, but refused to move. Her winter coat was enough to keep her warm, but alas, the white she-wolf would lose that here soon. Spring was on its way, in time for the pups to be old enough to be walking and talking amongst the commons. As Violet was the former Guardian, she held a special spot in her heart for each and every pup, and so when she came out into the commons, she saw the little bundles of fur gathered around Aelin and Draco’s feet, as well as playing not too far away, and she smiled sweetly. Violet had always wanted pups of her own, but alas, had not found anyone that had caught her eye.
Well, that was until now. Corvidae, one of the Salutary Apprentices, and a wolf she had brought into the pack, had sparked her interest immensely, she found herself getting to know the male, and had not too long ago taken to thinking she had a crush on him. She had never quite experienced this, but the she-wolf was quite enamored by the male that chose to carry a stone around in his mouth. She searched for him, trying to see if he was awake yet. It seemed that he was not, but with all the commotion he would be soon. He walked over to Aelin, giving her an affectionate nudge of her nose against the she-wolf’s shoulder. “Your pups are growing fast,” Her voice carried to both of them sitting there, and she looks to Draco with a small smirk. “It wasn’t too long ago you were this small, running around the commons,” The male chuckled at her statement, and she gave a small laugh herself. “Tell me, what are your names?” She asked, now directing towards the smaller ones that were currently sitting in front of Aelin.

- the constant happiness is curiosity -
Eureka, for many months, didn't perceive herself as a master of her mind of body. She had worked hard to overcome this as quickly as she could for the sake of her pack, and now, for the sake of her children. They began as parasites, injected by a foul beast whom the alphess had come to despise with more hatred than she had ever mustered at once. More resentment than she had ever been cursed to endure. Her pups were born with that resentment. She could only see them as his for so long that they became a combined embodiment of him.
Then, she began to suckle so softly, Uriel. Her claws no longer tore into her stomach. Had she learned to be kind to flesh? Azrael had no control over his pursuit of milk. He scratched her, almost with intent. Even once he had grown out of need the for her substance, he payed no attention to his force as he stumbled over her eyes and maw. But over time, she found that if she were to rest upon him, and let the beats of their hearts sync, he would be calm. He would become so limp and simple that Eureka sometimes feared he was dead.
Cassiel stayed overtly close to either his sister when Eureka refused to feed him from her abdomen, or stayed sweetly close to his mother if he craved her acceptance. He always looked for things in others that somebody else lacked, if but for momentary relief that he was safe. Eureka could never stop him from fretting, but he had come to trust her more with every day, and she him.
Uriel was a beautiful pup, and possibly the smartest she'd ever known. She had already learned the tendencies of her brothers and had learned to use them to her advantage. It was charming, but frightening. She discouraged Uriel from displaying control over an equal. Eureka's word had little effect over Uriel unless the pup gained from it. A terribly, dastardly, intelligent girl.
Eureka had grown a fondness for each of them. She was growing love for her pups. She considered them her own, not his. Though they possessed his blood, she was the only parent they knew, and they would learn as much as they could from her actions. It would be a disservice to their future to show them anything but kindness and affection. It wasn't risk seeing them turn into whatever scorned beast had planted them here."My sweet," she whispered as a figure passed over her, inclining her to wake from her first deep slumber in months. It was curious Cassiel. He had his eyes everywhere at every moment, and today they took him outside for the first time. "Hold on baby," she muttered as she slowly raised herself from her den. Her bones ached. She had packed on more meet form Jolon's generous fetches than her deteriorated bones were ready to carry.
At her side were Azrael and Uriel. She payed no attention to their tiny conversation as her interest lay solely on Cassiel's safety. He hadn't met anybody yet. The pups were barely ready to explore. But Eureka needed this. She needed to see her family, and it had to be whole, her pups included. It was time to be an alphess again. She knew this was coming.
As she exited the den slowly like molasses, cautiously like a child, she turned her head to whimper at the pups who remained in the den. "Come out. We can't hide in there forever," she said softly with a suggestive smile.
One of Aelin's pups bumped right into Cassiel, who was used to such force thanks to his abrasive brother. Eureka giggled quietly, panning her optics to admire every pup in the field. They were so beautiful. She'd only caught glimpses from the pit of her den, but to see them in such light caused her to tear with happiness, and guilt.
Violet was curious about them, too. That the beta, too, did not know their names, made Eureka feel less regretful. Good, Eureka's pups would be occupied with introductions while Eureka mustered a leader's tongue from her dry mouth. Most of the wolves were awake now.
She stood far from Draco as she announced herself; this was a time to register the alphess after she'd been recovering so long.
"Morning, everyone," she began, her voice dry like cotton from months of whispers, through she smiled with sincerity through it all. "It's been an interesting few months, but I would like to thank everybody for helping me recover through such difficult times. An alphess is nothing without the support of her family."
She paused as pups skipped around in front of her. She sighed with glee and with relief that, so she thought, the worst was over. She could finally enjoy herself as the leader she had always been, and the mother she knew she could be. "Gosh, so many new faces," she whispered, admiring every tiny individual at her feet. Two howls resonated from the borders, which would ahve been inaudible if she had not stoped to goggle over the puppies. She payed no attention to this yet, though judging by Merida's absence presumed that it was the multipurpose soldier and friend who had taken to border patrol.
"I suspect you're all very hungry?" Eureka looked down to all of the pups with an excited smile. She, herself, became energized by the thought of elk in her stomach. "Jolon, organize a hunt for the afternoon. I want everybody but the guardians, and anybody willing to watch over the young, to participate! I will be at the borders until then. Perhaps I can get a few new faces to help us catch our meal." Eureka's tail wagged as she walked towards her pups.
"Wiggles and Blue are in charge of you now," she said, pointing her muzzle at them respectively so the pups could identify their caretakers. She ushered the guardians to her as she did. Once Blue and Wiggles had come for her pups, Eureka trailed off into the treeline, where she would travel to the western borders to meet whoever Merida had called her to.
--Exit to borders--

A wraith? A stone? A curled panther? The third was nearly an outrageously comical notion, for surely no panther capable of inflicting serious harm could ever be that tiny, but then vibrant golden-orange orbs suddenly snapped open, some strange glint within their depths hinting at boldness ( or was it perhaps sly scorn?). This was certainly equally ridiculous. To think a newborn bundle of raven-black fur possessed the consciousness and intelligence to express such an emotion. Surely, all it knew was its mother's warm, sweet milk.[break] But it had a name, and it was Midna. Oh, it was ever so easy to overlook the mind and thoughts of such a minuscule creature, and the last-born of her litter, too. Midna would laugh at those who treat her like a child. She would bare her little white fangs and laugh, a short, lyrical bark the only sound she could deign to bestow upon any wolf under such a category. Yet all the large, moving shapes she could vaguely see shifting in and out of the den had been nothing but affectionate to Mother and her pups, so an elegantly curved muzzle slowly slipped back down to the ground, any trace of fight rapidly vanishing from her unnerving orange gaze.[break] Midna came into the world fighting. She was a fighter, perhaps also an instigator, and in the span of time it had taken for her to slip out of Mother's womb and join her siblings in suckling she had already trodden once on brother dearest's face. Now, from her little recluse in the curve of Mother's belly, velveteen nose twitching slightly from the long, ticklish hairs, Midna's eyes roved curiously towards her silver-pelted sister. Pressed up against their mother, Zelda seemed to have immediately assumed the role of guardian. Bossy, her mind purred. She neither clamored nor shied away from her mother's attention, choosing instead to release small, lazy yips each time Mother's great, loving form caressed Midna's petite frame. Tangerine orbs did not fail to pick up the suggestive quirk of a brow that her sister delivered to their brother, but she could hardly bring herself to care that she wasn't the one invited instead.[break] Her tail was draped over what she knew to be Link, his tawny chest rising and falling with each shallow breath. Midna considered nudging him awake. Instead, she nosed the ruff of his neck carefully, giving him a prod hard enough to startle him to alertness. "Zelda is calling," she said, her voice quiet, soft, rather like the glossiness of a raven's feather or a panther's pelt than the fragility of snowflakes and flowers. "Do go before she decides to come over and pester the both of us."[break] Even though a part of her yearned for more quiet and solitude - outside, the hubbub of wolves and mewing pups was simply too noisy not to notice - Midna couldn't deny the sort of silent, nameless affection she held for each and every being in the den with her right now. Even though Zelda was already proving to be prissy, and Link a sleepyhead, with a bird-like yawn she realised there wasn't anywhere else she'd have rather been right now. The thought had merely briefly occurred to the dark-pelted wolf before eyelids fluttered, dismissing the sentimentality of it all, and she angled her head towards the den mouth. An ever-watchful sentinel.[break][break]

Look at them play. All the pups that were his cousins tumbled out of the den, roughhousing in the snow and dirt. How much fun they seemed to have, especially a pair, one half of it that was getting far too close to him. A harsh shoulder into his chest sent the alabaster pup's sitting stance into a skewed splay of limbs. Instantly, a rage-filled glare reached his eyes, teeth bared instinctively and his hackles raised and ready to fight. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hit you, are you ok cousin?" it spoke, golden eyes obviously testing him. 'Sorry,' yeah sure. Already, one of his cousins was plotting against him. Cassiel had no doubt that soon it would attack him more often, escalating, plotting to deal him grievous harm. But the pup wouldn't let that happen. Not yet. Letting his snarled lips fall back over his blunt ivories, he muttered, "Fine." His mother's laugh switched his focus. Such a bell-like sound, a chime on this glorious morning where he finally set a paw outside. Was she laughing at him? Or her nieces and nephews? Just once, he wanted to ignore the voices that grated the back of his mind. Trying to rationalize with himself, he called back to her sweet cooing of pet names as he had ventured beyond the den. He was her 'sweet,' her 'baby,' not her 'target .' Trying to force that facade of thinking upon himself, Cassiel stepped slightly backwards and back towards the den. That was much safer. Only his sister's twisted words could reach him there. No doubt she'd have already created a recipe to reduce his stability to smithereens. Maybe even make him lash out at their cousin, who had already both attacked and apologized. As his mother spoke, addressing the uncountable number of faces that seemingly made up this pack, her pack, a pack that would fall to him if he only boded his time, Cassiel's green eyes scanned his six cousins. He was already too closely acquainted with one of them. Hopefully, the other five had something better to offer the wary male. With the promise of food and supervision, their mother departed, leaving Cassiel exposed and with no reference for positive non-familiar interaction. With no one else to turn to besides the strangers that were apparently supposed to watch them, the snowy pup pressed himself into Uriel's side. At least this sibling was less likely to bite his ear off. With an uncommon curiosity, he wondered if the behaviour of the other pups was 'normal. ' Sitting there, he watched the other pups play. | Azaelia. Former Somnus Alphess
"Good morning mother," a fluttering voice, soft like flowers, whispered as the mother emerged from a slumber. The yellow rays sneaking through her den mouth, the comfort of her lover, and the presence of her most cherished little creations sent her mind into an elated stupor⏤the kind one enjoyed on the first spring mornings, when the songbirds were speaking.
"Morning, love," she replied with a whole breath of adoration towards her pup, who now complained of hunger at her father. Charming. The girl knew how to get what she wanted, and how to use the faults of males towards the bind of females to execute their commands.
She watched her baby peer with brand new, rose eyes into the clearing, where the morning winds of conversation picked up. All of the litters were ready to meet each other now, though it made Azaelia faint to imagine all twelve children in the same place at once. But she was excited to exercise herself out of the den. These days didn't come too often for the nursing mother, but they were coming to an end; only Zelda liked to occasionally suckle, if only for the comfort of her mother's affections.
She ushered Link, who Zelda had beckoned with her undeniable gaze, to the entrance with her muzzle. Next would have been Midna, but she was all put a dark circle in the back of a den, hardly interested in the going ons outside. Azaelia cast her a disappointed, but suggestively encouraging expression with her engaging, lavender hues. She knew how Midna preferred isolation, but she also knew how she shyly cared for her siblings.
"This is your first opportunity to meet the rest of your family. It is very important," she said, raising a brow, before reverting to a whisper. "Your brother and sister need you with them."
She let her tail swipe Midna's little face as she exited the den with her pups. She trusted Ocean to usher the remaining pup out of the den when she was ready. Almost immediately upon appearance, Eureka had emerged with her own children. A rush of nerves passed over her. To see Eureka, the omega she had raised for years, standing, using her voice, for the first time in so many months was both thrilling and terrifying. Was she ready to take on the day? Was Azaelia ready to accept what had happened to her? Surely, if Azaelia had trouble accepting the terms of her children, so must have the alphess.
"It's been an interesting few months, but I would like to thank everybody for helping me recover through such difficult times. An alphess is nothing without the support of her family," Eureka announced. Azaelia put her head to the ground. She wanted to embrace the girl and congratulate her for being so strong, but she had to agree that she was an adult now, and she didn't need Azaelia's coddling anymore. She only offered a brush of her muzzle as Eureka walked passed her, towards the outskirts.
A sigh left her with relief. If her pups were ready to be on their own, without the constant need of their mother's comfort and nurturing, she could resume her activities as a productive member of the pack, rather than a reproductive one. The thought came upon her with such bitterness that she was taken aback. She even felt the remains of the red on her skin, warm, angry, confused. Her ears fell with concern. She never met with Murdoch like he asked many months ago, and now she feared the repercussions. Until she could muster the strength, she would do the only thing she knew to distract herself from her anxiety. Work, work, work.
"A hunt," she whispered excitedly. She glanced to her mate with anticipation. "You ready to work off your daddy fat?" Azaelia teased, offering only an apologetic laugh, but retaining her honesty. It truly had been some time since either parent had really worked themselves, and their enlarged bodies were proof. Though, with Ocean, Azaelia could rarely notice his incremental increases in size, for he was already so large she imagined if he were to awake the size of a tree, she would not notice a difference.
It would be a while before the pack was ushered to the hunting grounds. She imagined Aelin would stay back with the pups to watch them, but Azaelia was far more selfish than that. She needed this hunt to be a better mother. She needed her independence so she could teach it to her children, to teach them not to depend on anybody, not even their parents. They wouldn't be around forever. If it was up to her, she'd have them hunting already, but it wasn't too early to start practicing.
In the meantime, she made her way to the sentinel, where Violet inquired about the pups. Azaelia beckoned her pups as she made her way to the forming group. "Hello Violet," she greeted with a genuinely pleased smile, nuzzling the shoulder of her dearest friend. Violet made a comment towards Draco about his youth, to which Azaelia responded with a nostalgic laugh. "It's truly unbelievable," she added, before joining Violet's interest to hear the names of the pups.
"Zelda, Link, Midna, come meet your cousins." They weren't cousins, but they were all family, and she lacked a better term. She gave her attention to Aelin, waiting to learn all about her, grandchildren? No, that made her feel too old. For her own sake, she would call them her nieces and nephews.

| D R A C O A L P H A S O M N U SDraco was happy to see all of his pups and mate joining them in the clearing, finally bringing life to the previously quiet area around him. Almost every pup was out, the only one having not popped out is Arya, the little oddball pup that he knew as the runt of the litter. He knew that she would be out soon, they just had to be patient. The beautiful sight of his mate had his heart pounding in his chest from happiness. How had he ever gotten her to agree to be his? She jumped up to lick his cheek, and he gave a small sigh of happiness, returning with an affectionate lick on her forehead, the closest thing Draco could reach on the small female. As the little pups came out of their den, he watched each and everyone, a smile on his face when they all greeted him, then Oberyn and Benjen went off to play, while Daenerys and Cersei stayed near Aelin. Violet was one of the first to approach, commenting about when he was their size. He chuckled, giving the Beta an affectionate paw to the shoulder, telling her to hush. Aelin didn’t need to hear about his embarrassing childhood stories! The Beta was distracted by his pups, and his attention was brought to Eureka. She was out of her den, right along with her little ones it seemed.
Listening to her speak, he wondered if she was indeed doing better. It had been a long time since she had spoken with the pack, but it made him happy to know that she indeed was still the Alphess he knew she could be. The two howls coming from the borders signaled that the two Alphas would be heading of. They were able to trust Violet and Azaelia to take care of things in the commons, and therefore, he got up, giving each pup nearest to him an affectionate lick on the head before turning to Aelin and touching her nose with his before he turned and departed.
