The brute was taking a daring leap, fleeing from his birth pack only to find himself here, wedged between two unfamiliar territories. He had to admit, though, the terrain was far more tolerable here than far off where the rogues frolicked. The smells were overwhelming, only vaguely scented of rogues or pack members. And better, the scent was so faint of rogues Katsu was certain this area had been vacant for at least a month. It was the perfect place to settle down for now, he deemed, as long as he remained fully aware of any new scents that entered his vicinity. While it was apparent rogues could set paw around here, the brute could not risk finding himself within another battle over his origins.
Yellow hues peered curiously into the lake, watching as fish darted away from his looming shadow. Katsumi then crept away into the nearby snow-dusted bushes; a small flock of quail rested in a clearing nearby, blissfully unaware that they were no longer safe in the area. Two would have calmed his growling stomach, but he reckoned he would have to suffice with one for now. As the brute made his way toward the clearing, an ominous bleat rung into the air. The sound was amazing, however, to the quail, it was a call to leave. All but two climbed into the air, and those two would probably follow their friends in a second. Katsu had to take the chance, legs springing him forward so that he may just barely get his canines around the throat of the bird. He watched in amusement as the other scampered away before viciously shaking his prize, breaking its neck.
Katsumi savored his meal, noticing that he had not hunting in a day or two. Winter indeed made it difficult for him on his own. As he licked his chomps, by the corner of his eye the dark cumulonimbus clouds lurked, falling slowly from the mountains towards him. It began to snow, it was getting dark, and Katsumi took his que to find shelter before he found himself stranded in a snowstorm. The brute scampered up the hillside towards a particularly large pine tree, its branches weighing down to the floor. He was a little big to be wedging himself underneath, but it would be the best shelter apart from actually digging himself a den. Katsu tightly curled at the base of the tree, watching as the wind picked up. As he began to doze off some hours later, Katsumi could only imagine how much nicer this would be if he had his pack members beside him.

Breezy walks with a defeated face, trudging along to go get a drink at the lake. She heard some noises as a reddish male wolf was trying to get comfortable under a log. Even though Breezy was in a bad mood she couldn't help letting out a yelp/snort of laughter. Scared now that the wolf might come after her she trotted her way over to the other side of the little lake. While trying to seem like she was drinking she was watching the wolf watch her. Could he be the friend she was looking for? Breezy didn't know, but he has to be better then the other two male wolfs she grew up with.

Aurora yelped and yipped as she raced across the ground. She perked her ears up and saw a rabbit, she sprinted after it. The brown flash of fluffy fur saw her coming and darted towards it's hole but she intercepted it and broke its neck between her teeth as she tackled her prey to the ground very ungracefully. She popped up off the ground sneezing after receiving a snoutful of dirt. After the sneeze attack was over the ravenous pup tore into the rabbits dead carcass. After she finished eating she approached the lake to get a drink. It was only then that she noticed that she wasn't alone. She sniffed fearfully. "There's bigger wolves here! I've gotta hide!" She found a hollow tree stump and ducked inside thankful that she was small but hoping that her bright white fur and cacophonous hunt didn't give her away already.

| J O Y loneliness is poverty
She had never traveled this far. She wasn't shy beyond the vast outskirts of Sorelus, which still were quite secluded from the rogue lands beyond them, and even those unclaimed territories seemed to be void of any life. Much of her resistance came from fear of Rowan reprimanding her for traveling too far; for putting herself in danger. She was a beautiful girl, so she'd been told. So beautiful that just one look at her could send a rogue male into a violent fit of desire. She wasn't sure what this meant, but she surely didn't want to.
The distance between Sorelus and where she was now was a day's length. It was already morning again, and she began to feel the toll of what little sleep she had gotten since she left. She was far too determined to prove to herself that she was brave to worry about sleep. She had hardly fed herself, either. Joy asked herself, Do you feel any different? To which she responded, Shouldn't I?
The air felt different, certainly. Smelled different, tasted different. The air here was much drier, and much more crisp than Sorelus. She always imagined that everywhere was muggy like home. But the air here tasted like a cold, refreshing drink. As she came over a small hill, her eyes became mounds of wonder. An indescribable sight, complete with the most beautiful, clear mountains she'd ever seen, topped with the winter's melting snow. Below was a still, crystal clear lake. Breathtaking.
She could smell the wolves now. Her stomach tightened as it cramped with anticipation. She'd never talked to a rogue before. It was a wonder why Rowan entrusted her with the most social rank possible. Perhaps he was testing her, in which case, Joy was determined to pass.
She saw a small figure, surely a pup, dash directly across her line of sight into a nearby tree-den. What had scared her? Instinctively, Joy surveyed the terrain for any warnings, where she found but two more rogues, each on opposite sides of the lake. It seemed nobody felt quite comfortable here. Each were completely vulnerable, and kept their distances. Joy wasn't going to learn anything this way. She had to take the risk.
"Are you alright?" Joy asked as she ducked her head into the tree-den, where an ivory pup hid in fear. As she looked at her, Joy felt a sudden rush of sad nostalgia fall over her. This was her, only a year ago. She, too, was a rogue at only six months, and traveled aimlessly in the rogue lands. She was soon picked up by Rowan and, now, he and his family were all she knew. She was trapped there. But as she stared at the terrified pup inside of the den, identical to herself, she wondered if she would really trade the monotonous safety of her pack for the constant unknowing and terror of freedom. "I've scouted the area. You're safe."
She took one more good look around, to make sure she had told the truth. She realized that the sleeping male and the wandering female were closer than she originally thought. Or perhaps that was her anxiety talking.
Aurora Katsumi Breezy Hi y'all I'm just having Joy explore and make friends! She's really awkward and lonely, but very sweet, and braver than she thinks or looks. |

| 2 Week Timeskip into Spring | (Sorry, I originally had him lingering within a snow storm haha)
The brute loomed humbly within his den, sides raising and falling through his slumber. His pelt warmed to the touch of sunlight that peeked through the entrance, the male squirming uncomfortably a few minutes later due to the heat. The snow storm he had encountered a few weeks ago was not out of the ordinary, but it was the last snow he saw before the life around him began to un-thaw. It was the very beginning of spring, and around him flourished life he could only compare to his birth pack. Because of this, Katsumi could hardly complain about the newfound herbs that freshly lay around his den. Lambs ear was hard to find, but the brute came across a brand new patch and was quick to tear it all off for himself. Some extra strength could always be useful. Along with that, his den was neatly littered with lotus, poppy seeds, witch hazel, and thyme; all were herbs solely for his own use of keeping diligent. Ideally, though, he could keep a whole group of wolves healthy off of the plants nearby.
Katsumi groaned as he stretched his paws out in front of him, deciding that he had a days work ahead of him. Nothing was planned though. He had just eaten yesterday, but he could always hunt again for good fun, or search for more herbs. He didn't intend on interacting with other wolves, but perhaps collecting small amounts of unneeded herbs wasn't the worst idea. If he wanted to, he could even expand his den more. At the moment, the brutes den was sizable, enough space for a full family to squeeze in. In a corner, he had used sticks to divide his plants into piles, and where he slept, an abundance of feathers and moss lay. For him, the den was perfect. This was honestly the best life he could imagine for himself as a rogue, free of distractions and other wolves. Yellow hues blinked proudly as he admired his space before eventually pulling his way out of his den, which happened to be hidden right underneath a large bush. Immediately, as he took a deep breath of the cool crisp mountain air, Katsu's attitude turned sour. Rogues. His eyes darted around warily, annoyed that he had slept while others had moved in right under his nose. Thankfully, there were only three females, but at that note, there were three females. Katsumi was aware of the season, and had no intention of seeking a mate or pups. Sure he had the space for it, but he would never wish upon his young to be birthed into a world so harsh against hybrids. And a mate, god knows what female would look at him and not immediately see a disappointment. He wasn't a wolf. He didn't belong here.
It wasn't hard to find the first she-wolf, standing like a sore thumb across the lake, and staring at him. Great, she knows i'm here... and where my den is. Katsumi growled quietly at that thought. The other two were diagonally from him, another white female and a youngster that he could not depict. So, what was he going to do today? Even if they were just females, he wasn't just going to leave his hard work for them to mess with. Katsumi scampered off just a bit closer to the lake (his den was not entirely close to the lake) to fetch some watermint his eyes had caught before returning it to his den. This would help to mask the dens scent, and make it smell nice, along with himself. The hybrid rubbed the leaves along the floor with his paw before exiting his den once again. This time, though, he took a seat right in front of his den. It was looking like he wouldn't be doing anything today other than guarding his things until these rogues left, he decided stubbornly.

Breezy sighed, there was other wolves here. That was probably for the best, Breezy needed to make friends. The pup seemed friendly, and the other wolf talking to her seemed protective, and also looked like she would be a good friend. But Breezy was watching the male wolf, he was smart. Getting watermint was a great idea to snuff out the scent of rotting log, he also was smart to find a den. That might be a great thing to do right now. Breezy scanned the lake, to her left was a denser forest, she could probably find something there. She headed off in that direction before seeing a rock formation, it formed a small den, Breezy puffed out her chest, she had found this perfect den before anyone else! She trotted in with her head held high before catching a scent so strong it stopped her in her tracks. Then Breezy heard a low grumble from behind her, whirling around she saw that she was face to face with a black bear! Breezy squealed and bolted out side, the bear caught her in the flank, sending her flying into a tree. Breezy had the sense to get up and run, Breezy hesitated, it would be a bad idea to lead him back to the lake, it could get her or the others killed. Breezy decided to go up, run past the males den, it would lead her and the bear away from everything. Her sides heaved but she couldn't give up, not without a fight. The last thing Breezy thought before disappearing into the forest with a bear right behind her was I guess I wasn't the first to find that den.Aurora, @joy, Katsumi

Aurora looked up nervously as a she-wolf approached her hiding spot. Her mind kept whirling with "Oh no oh no oh no, I've been found!" She was overcome with a paralyzing sense of terror and wasn't quite sure why. Then the she-wolf spoke "Are you aright? I've Scouted the Area. You're safe." Aurora blinked. Was she being honest? Aurora wasn't sure but she figured it would be better to trust this lady than to stay in her hole like the rabbit she just half-ate. She shook her head "Okay!" She squeezed out of her stump and wagged her tail. "You look like my mom!" Then she dashed over to the remains of her rabbit and brought it to the she-wolf. "Here, you can have the rest." Then she sat and looked at the lady with undisguised admiration. "You're very pretty, my name is Aurora, what's yours?" Then she sat neatly and allowed her tail to curl over her paws at she looked up at the lady. Breezy Katsumi @joy

The echoing thump snapped his attention towards the first white female, somehow finding herself in trouble faster then he could blink. A pang of guilt washed over Katsumi; he knew there was a black bear that lived across the lake some ways from him. He had lived in the area long enough to have witnessed the female bear exit her den from hibernation. Thusly, Katsumi tried to avoid the area. The bear likely knew he was around, but without bear cubs she wasn't super threatened as long as he didn't bother her. The brute watched curiously as the white she-wolf handled the situation, or well, fled from it. She could probably take on the bear long enough to scare it off, but not without risking some nasty wounds. Katsumi merely watched from his safe distance. He wasn't in the mood to go around saving naive wolves. If she were paying better attention, she should have been able to smell the daunting scent before even finding the den. The female made a break for it, scampering off in his direction. The brute squinted his eyes before realizing she was getting really close to him, her and the angry bear. The male retreated into his den just before the wolf ran past, eyes peeking out as the bear came after her. Another growl left his muzzle, in frustration. Why did she lead the bear right to his den? Now he had to get involved, for the protection of his happy home. As Katsu exited, he noticed the black bear had stopped a little ways into the forest, probably making sure the white wolf didn't come back. After months of hibernation, he assumed the bear was probably too hungry to be wasting its energy on chasing a nimble wolf. Alas, it was too close to his den now, and the bear turn to face him as soon as it noticed he was there. If these stupid wolves hadn't came into the area, he could have managed peace with the poor female bear. But now that they had rightfully pissed her off, Katsumi had no choice but to chase her from the area. Standing his ground, the brute stood as his full height, sizing up the medium sized bear as his hackles raised. On all fours, the bear was about the same height as him, and probably close to the same weight after hibernation. Still, taking a look at the bears huge claws, it could maul him easily. Katsumi growled lowly at the bear, taking a firm step forward. In response, the bear stood on his hind legs, towering over him. It was a challenge, and the bear wasn't backing down. Of course, it just had to make his life harder. It was time to take action. Katsumi narrowly skipped closer to the bear, nipping at its legs before hopping away and bolting, all just before the bear came crashing down to bite him. He ran just far enough to bring the bear into a clearing, where he could more clearly depict its movements. Katsu snarled as he circled the bear, looking for an opportunity to strike. There. The male charged towards the bears flank, teeth grabbing desperately at its thick hide before trying to skip away once again. But not before the bear caught his head with a massive paw, sending him to the floor with a surprised yelp. Thankfully he wasn't hurt, merely stunned momentarily, but he lacked the time to get to his paws. The black bear was already whipping around to strike at him, so in quick thinking, Katsumi darted towards the bears throat with all his strength. It's skin was tough and thick, and he would never be able to puncture its windpipe. Still, his canines drew blood as the bear struggled above him. Again, a big paw came pounding into his side, this time clawing at his back. Katsumi whined and let go, side stepped away from the massive figure. The bear, too, took a hesitant step back. With a final snarl, the female bear took her leave, Katsumi snapping at her tail to make sure she got the message. He watched for a while as she ran downhill before tending to the open wound on his back.

Breezy slowed down realizing the bear wasn't following her, no I was supposed to lead the bear out of the territory she thought in alarm. Whirling around she ran back to the area of the males den to find him chasing the bear off, she felt weak that she couldn't of done that. Her wound was pretty bad, she needed to take care of it. The male was watching the bear retreat and she noticed he was injured as well. " Agg, I am so sorry, my plan was to lead the bear away, oh well it doesn't matter anymore, are you okay? I didn't mean to get you hurt, arg I am such a fool. I'm Breezy by the way, how can I help," Breezy asked, ashamed that her plan hadn't worked and that she had gotten a wolf hurt in the process. "You look like my mom," the pup yipped. Her ears fell back as a cloud of sorrow accumulated over her. Did she lose her family the way Joy did? Was she holding on to the slim hope that they were alive, thinking about her, missing her as much as she did? The two certainly did share resemblance. Joy could only imagine what memories, good and poor, this surfaced in the pup's young mind. Amidst her pondering over harrowing thoughts, a rabbit was placed at her feet--what remained of it.
"You caught this yourself? I'm impressed," the lass smiled before bringing her nose to the creature. Fresh. It wasn't much, but Joy hadn't eaten in about two moons. "Thank you," she said before consuming the generous portion of meat. As she tore into the flesh, the tiny voice peeped about her beauty. Joy was taken aback, and didn't resist a small choke in time to respond.
"Oh, well-" she stuttered. "Thank you. My name is Joy. It's nice to meet you." Only moments later, a terrible crash accompanied by yelps and roars sent a rush of heat through her body. Instinctively, she backed herself into Aurora, ushering her back towards the den. A bear. Certainly starved after a long rest, and not opposed to feasting on a small, helpless wolf pup. "Stay back," she warned, her own form crouching as she watched the events unfold. She'd never seen a black bear. It was much smaller than the grizzlies in the west, but still a viable predator.
Her heart raced as she watched the lone male take it on himself. She could barely see the events at the treeline form where she crouched, but she could make out the result. He had managed to chase it off himself, and took a few hits himself. Joy didn't know how to help him. The herbs Cecil had taught her about didn't grow here, and those were the only herbs she knew. Though she panicked, the male seemed perfectly fine and was able to move around without difficulty. Her body relaxed, though her chest thumps were still quite fast.
Joy had come here to scout, not to make friends, and certainly not to bring anybody home. She had gathered enough information to return to Rowan and request action, but for now, there was nothing she could do for these wolves.
"I have to go home now," Joy whispered to Aurora. "But I will come back for you," she said. Young Joy didn't yet know the consequences of giving false hope to a young pup, but she hoped it would come true. She shouldn't have left the territory without Rowan's permission, although she wasn't expecting to meet any recruits. Hopefully she would be able to fulfill her promise.

Aurora looked at Joy with wide eyes as Joy pushed her towards her stump den. Aurora crawled inside in time to see a big black thing run by roaring and causing a ruckus what is that?? Was that a wolf it was chasing? Aurora shivered worry coursing through her small body. She hoped Joy wouldn't get hurt. After a couple of minutes Joy turned around with a look in her eyes that Aurora immediately recognized and couldn't help whimpering. Joy seemed hesitant to speak and then said "I have to go home now, but I will come back for you" Aurora curled into a small ball as she watched Joy leave her heart pounding. She looked away and saw a he-wolf being approached by a she-wolf but they were too far from her for her to hear what they said. She noticed that they were hurt and jumped out of her den excitedly. She sniffed around for a plant she had found to help pain go away. She snorted finding it difficult. "Ugh. Stupid plants need to grow faster." She wandered near a tree and found a small patch of the plant she was looking for then she dashed over to the other wolves. "Hey hey hey guys I can help you!" Her words were muffled by the plants in her mouth and she wagged her tail as she looked at the she-wolf then when she looked at the he-wolf she became very bashful. He's cute... She looked away knowing she was staring at him. He was probably too old for her anyway. But crushing wouldn't hurt anything right? She looked back and forth between the two wolves. "That is... if you want my help?" Katsumi Breezy

Aurora, I don’t know how old your wolf is or how big.
" Agg, I am so sorry, my plan was to lead the bear away, oh well it doesn't matter anymore, are you okay? I didn't mean to get you hurt, arg I am such a fool. I'm Breezy by the way, how can I help," the hybrid whipped around from his sunken position, snarling at his approacher before realizing it was merely the wolf that had cause all of this. The growling subsided, but an ugly glare remained on his charming features. He stood to his full height, looking the she-wolf up and down. She was smaller than him, but probably around the same weight. " Do you lack natural senses? I knew that bear was there miles away," that probably wasn't the truth, but Katsumi remained unhappy nonetheless. His words were harsh, and realizing so moments after, Katsu averted his gaze. The brute cleared his throat awkwardly. " That bear needed to be chased away anyways, and I'm fine" the male began padding away from the female, in search of his den. He needed to tend to himself. " And I don't need your-" " Hey hey hey guys I can help you!~" here came one of the other she-wolves, a pup far younger than himself. She, too, sported a dirty white form and was probably half his size. Katsumi rolled his eyes before looking upon Breezy, as she named herself. She probably needed the help more than him. The wound on his back stung, but it was nothing he couldn't fix. The pup seemed to be carrying herbs, though, and Katsu took a step towards her curiously, sniffing at them. Katsumi shook his head with a smirk. " I wouldn't have picked those. Two poppy seed should do her just fine," the male flicked his tail towards Breezy before moving toward her, his nose brushing her fur as he inspected for greater wounds. Just some scratches. " And some sorrel for scratches." He was probably being a little invasive towards the females personal space, but with his love for herbal treatment he couldn't help himself. But, as he paused, he wondered if they would know how to find these herbs or what they looked like. " Sorrel is like... this leafy green plan. Looks a lot like spinach," he recalled. " Can you find this for me and bring it to my den? I'm Katsumi," bright eyes looked to the pup, hoping she would comply. " Breezy, I have poppy seeds in my den." he continued, flicking his tail for her to follow him as he found his way back to his home.

Breezy shivered, not cold just had not been that close to a male wolf since the wolves that tried to kill her. Breezy watched as Katsumi ordered the pup to find some sorrel leaves. Katsumi was fine and muscular, she wondered what he had been through, he looked confident, unlike Breezy. Breezy whimpered as the wind whipped her flank, it stung and breathing kind of hurt but she would never share that she was in pain, she liked to try and toughen it out. Breezy recalled the male fighting the bear, he had been so brave, could she have done that? Guilt washed over her, it was her fault he was hurt, she would make it up to him. Breezy, I have poppy seeds in my den." Breezy's head shot up from being deep in thought. Katsumi flicked his tail to follow her, Breezy reluctantly dipped her head and obliged. She couldn't help thinking about how this could be a trap, but he wasn't Crow and Raven, she knew not all wolves were like that. Breezy eyed his wound while walking, and then suddenly she realized something, and her lip curled in amusement at the thought. He knew a lot about herbs, so he must have a soft spot if he liked to heal. He wasn't as tough and heartless as he made himself look. But she liked him this way, so she would keep that thought to her self. Katsumi Aurora

Aurora nodded fervently to Katsumi. "I will!" She rushed away looking for 'Sorrel' unsure of where to start. She spit the remaints of the unhelpful herb she had put into her mouth onto the ground and licked her muzzle. Sorrel Sorrel Sorrel She sniffed around and found a plant that matched Katsumi's description and smelled it carefully to make sure it wasn't spinach. She plucked it carefully with her teeth so as not to crush it, after all, she wasn't sure how Katsumi was going to use it. She took notice of her surroundings so she knew where to find more sorrel in the future. Then she began padding back to Katsumi's den, though she'd never seen it before she knew she could find it by the scent of musty herbs that seemed to pour off of him. Eventually she found the entrance and padded in. "I've got the Sorrel mister Katsumi" Breezy Katsumi
