Basil had been sucked into the story from the first words that aunt Ventus spoke, her vivid imagination running rampant as she imagined the small battle that was being described, and her father's valiant and successful win over the mountain lion. Even after Ventus was done with her story the little black pup continued to tell the tale in her own mind, letting her overactive imagination turn the realistic tale into something unbelievably eccentric. She was lost in her own thoughts now, unable to bring herself back to reality, at least until the snarl of some intruder jarred her from her thoughts and the little pup’s eyes widened as she jumped away looking about frantically. Basil’s smile was quick to overtake the surprised look as she stared up at the wolf who had intruded on their story session, the skinny black tail thumped wildly behind her as she listened to her father’s words. Then just as he had appeared, he was gone just as fast, and the little black pup’s smile faded once more as she sat down, eyes watching the ground. Basil admired her father, saw him as a legend, the most valiant, strong, kind-hearted wolf to ever have been in these woods, and whether or not the General actually was those things, Basil’s opinion wouldn’t change concerning her father. Just as she was about to turn back to aunt Ventus another face appeared in the den, and in short order he was telling his own small tale, and just like that Basil’s imagination was running rampant, taking the tale and running with it. Just as the little black pup was about to lose her sense of the world around her once more, lost in her own thought, Alpha Mochi’s question disrupted her thoughts and she looked up at him with thoughtful eyes, listening carefully to his question. “Is that what all of you want to be? Lubrusca’s future leaders?" Basil’s mind began to turn once more as she thought up her own response and then an excited yip escaped her “Yeah! I want to be just like our father, a valiant warrior, I want to fight a mountain lion one day, I’m gonna be just like him!” Just as quickly as her excitement had appeared it was once again gone, and the other side of her personality showed itself in short order. The extroverted side and the insecure side were always at war, no matter who it was in front of her, and Basil’s insecurities were dominating her right now. The little black pup’s back leg began to shake, to someone watching it would almost appear as if she was shaking from the cold, but sooner or later someone would notice the nervous tick, the tick that the pup herself never even noticed. Her eyes cast about the den now though, glimpsing at her siblings as she silently pleaded with one of them to answer Alpha Mochi’s question as well, and remove her from the spotlight that she always hated to be in.

Life was beginning to buzz once more around the commons, the Ferus wolf taking his leave and bringing along with him two of their own. Somewhere else his mother was entertaining pups and telling stories, and Mochi and Dante were interjecting with their own stories, but Fenrir was feeling more alone and disconnected rom his pack than ever. Right now he felt incredibly ill-equipped, and like no one was there to offer any help. He had been thrown into a lake with no way to get to shore. He was frowning, clearly doubting himself as he waited quietly for Macha's response. But just as he was finished speaking, he heard steps approaching them. He didn't look, thinking it would be Parker or something, but then a hoarse voice broke the silence, the tone curious and uplifting despite sounding so weak. It sounded oddly familiar, though. His head whipped around just in time to see his mentor stop beside him, and just like that the pain and stress of the past few weeks or so flew from his mind and was replaced with euphoria. Snow had been sleeping a lot recently, and he didn't seem to be around in the moments she was awake, so he hadn't seen her conscious in a while. To see her up and moving and out of her den was incredible. Tears welled up in his eyes, and as much as he tried to control his emotions, he couldn't. He scooted eagerly closer to the thin frame of the female and rubbed his side against hers affectionately, a smile on his face. "Snow! Snow! You're up! I'm so glad you're okay! I missed you so much." The tears spilled freely, allowing himself to indulge in his emotions and properly express how much he had missed her being around all this time. He was so scared she was going to get worse because he was a bad apprentice, but maybe all she really needed was to sleep it all off. He felt ecstatic, and for a moment all of his problems went away. There weren't two of his packmates leaving on what could be a suicide mission about a weird group of dangerous murderous wolves who ate their own kind somewhere towards the mountains. He wasn't forced to do combat training when he was finished with Salutary duties at the end of the day, and he wasn't being forced to teach someone else what little he did know, like a pop quiz except it was like his job was on the line. His tail still wagging furiously, he nuzzled her affectionately, trying to stop his joyful tears and his blubbering. He was being careful not to press his whole weight against her, feeling her bones through a now-nonexistent layer of fat and her lightly matted fur. She was in need of a good cleaning and grooming and a good meal. But she was up and moving, and that was a huge improvement. Omega Macha Salutary Snow Rose

Suddenly, the eyes of the two brothers finally met, and with a smile on each's face, a battle that could put the Lubrusca-Ferus war to shame had begun. Snowballs came and went, as the sons of the Alphess gave it their all to hit the other sibling, while dodging and trying to find some sort of cover. After being hit various times by his orange-coated sibling, Hydran ran toward the nearest trunk he was able to find. Once behind something solid enough to protect him from the incoming projectiles, Hydran peeked out of the corner of the tree to check Lysic's position, when a snowball hit against the frozen trunk, barely not hiting his face head on. "Miss me, dummy! Are you even trying bro!?" said the Hunter, as he looked at his side to gather more snow to throw. He hadn't even started to add to the pile when an avalanche fell on him, "Oh, son of a- covering the brown male in snow from face to paws. Digging his way out of the snowpile he had been thrown into, Hydran could see the culprit and his brother, the latter having suffered a treatment similar to his. "You really gotta teach me that move, old man." said the young male, jokingly. The general waited until Lysic was up, and spoke “I’m glad you two are getting along well. But we’ve business now. I’m taking you and your brother down to the borders for patrol. If we see rouges, I’ll show you how to handle them. Assuming Devika is already there, We’ll get to moving. Just follow me. I believe it’s well past time you two learned how to lead Lubrusca on your own.”Hydran nodded and followed. Dante was right, with this new threat coming, assuming it was, they needed to learn as fast as they could. Gotta be prepared for anything.

OMEGA MACHA OF LUBRUSCA
Macha left stung as her blonde cutie left her side. As her mind processed her feelings of passiveness and jealousy she was shocked to learn that internally she described Parker with words of affection and attractiveness. Eyes blinked and barely registered Fenrir's response. In her attempt to formulate her own words, a surprising figure joined them. Snow Rose.
The shock of seeing her made following her mouth a struggle. Blinking she tried to make sense of what was being conversed, until Fenrir started crying. Ears shrinking against her skull she moved back a space. Shuffling paws. Head down. This was awkward.
"I... Excuse me," constricted words left a dry mouth. Pushing away she looked to find someone to help her, her mind only on one white figure; Mochi. However, spotting him at the entrance of where Ventus and the pups lay, she knew she would not get his attention now. More jealousy fueled her heart as she moved away from their new common grounds.
She felt alone, isolated. Such a contrast of feelings only moments before. Why the flip flop? What is this roller coaster ride? Macha already struggled with communication and this new issue made her feel small. She could barely breath now. She needed space. Perhaps returning to where she began would help?

PUP CECILIA OF LUBRUSCA
Cecilia had been dreaming of clouds and flying. Her little feet would kick out against Ventus gently as she ran and moved within her dream. A tiny snore would escape the red fur as she moved about. That snore would soon become a monster of one. A funny thing that the quietest wolf while awake would be the loudest while sleeping. Although, the youngster wouldn't know until much later in her life.
She was barely coming to when she heard Aunt Ventus' voice above her. A weird noise had began waking her, it sounded low. And then darkness as something fast seemed to be moving into the den. Ventus jerked in reaction and Cecilia let out a scream, tumbling away and hitting her head. A yelp and then laughter.
Indignant eyes turned to her father as she let out an outburst of emotion. "PAPA NOT FUNNY!"
As he moved off she was no longer in the mood for tight places with lots of bodies. Pushing past her Aunt she plopped herself outside, sucking her bottom lip in nervousness. Her tiny frame still shaking from the fright. Mochi came soon after and she relaxed into a ball with him laying nearby.

"Snow! Snow! You're up! I'm so glad you're okay! I missed you so much." Fenrir was quick to welcome her back into her health, nuzzling against her thin frame with barely any force, yet it was enough to almost unbalance the legs that were barely holding her up. Snow Rose had to quickly rethink the way she was balancing this new weight as he pressed against her, trying to save herself the embarrassment of falling over. “I missed you too, sweetie. I missed everyone. You’ll have to catch me up on everything that happened while I was out of action,” she even struggled to talk, her voice hoarse and gravelly, grating on the ears when compared to the usual silvery inflections of her tone. Snow Rose tried not to think about her still-recovering state for too long, instead shifting her gaze to look out across the snowy encampment that they now called their Common Grounds.
So much had happened for Lubrusca in such a short time. The fire had forced them to embrace a change so drastic that the addition of so many pups was practically celebratory. Snow Rose remembered the night that Elenor went into labor with a pain that nobody could even begin to relate to. She had known that the brave she-wolf was not going to survive the moment that the unusual amount of blood began gushing onto the scene, and she knew that Elenor was aware of the fact as well. It shattered her heart when she told Dante that his mate would not be raising their pups with him, but at least she was able to deliver the General his five healthy children. The next birth was one that she had to be extremely discrete with. The Alphess wanting no-one, not even her mate, to know of the pup that grew within her stomach. Thank god it had only been one pup, otherwise her bloated belly would have been impossible to hide. But she had successfully helped in delivering the single pale pup with minimal hitches during the birthing, which had been a relief to the she-wolf as her health had then began on its decline. It was the memory of birthing so many pups that prompted her to look towards the den where Ventus and Mochi kept all the younglings, entertaining them with wild stories that brought a smile to Snow's soft features. From what she could see, Dante's pups seemed to be growing at a steady rate with healthy auras surrounding each one of them, a relief to the salutary that she wouldn't have to worry about any sickly runts or stunted growths.
Happy with the conditions of the pups that she had assisted in delivering, Snow Rose continued her observations of the Common Grounds, gliding her caramel eyes over familiar faces that she knew all too well...but one face caught her off guard. The raven brute that she knew by the name of Flint, a Ferus wolf. She cringed. His presence within Lubrusca never meant anything good, and from what she could piece together from passing conversation, it looked like he was going to be leaving with Ebony and Kai.
Ebony. It was Ebony that she found herself momentarily caught on. She couldn’t look at the male without recalling what he had said to her all those months ago. “The two of us would produce salubrious offspring,” she wasn’t even entirely sure what ‘salubrious’ meant, but she couldn’t stop her cheeks from flushing with an embarrassing amount of heat every time his words crossed her mind; which was often — almost too often for her liking. His complex was a puzzle to her, she had never met someone so complicated yet so simple. It bothered her that she cared about it so much. Of course, it was in her nature to care, and one could say that her knack for caring was the reason she was such a good salutary, but to the level that she cared about what went on in Ebony’s head made it more of a distraction to her, a distraction from what she should have been caring about, which was all of Lubrusca, not just a singular male who had once mentioned the possibility of their offspring. Maybe his leaving would do her some good, maybe it free up some space in her mind and keep her focused on things that really mattered, like her own recovery and the wellbeing of the pack. But would she miss him if he left? Would she then be worrying about his safe return? Why was this all so important to her? She barely knew him, nobody did! He was a mystery to all, which was probably why Snow Rose found him so god-damn interesting.
She had to force herself to look away from the male, cutting off the intrusive thoughts and instead focusing back on the two younglings in front of her. Instantly, she noticed Macha looked uncomfortable. "I... Excuse me," she had muttered before shuffling away from the pair, and of course, Snow Rose couldn't miss the glance the marbled she-wolf had aimed at her father. The salutary's ears momentarily brushed the back of her cranium in mild annoyance. Not at Macha, but at Mochi. The male seemed to be forgetting about the child that he had taken in under his wing. Snow Rose understood that he now had a biological offspring to care for, but he needed to understand that he had to balance his time with Macha as well. Snow looked towards the male, hoping to catch his eye somehow in order to gesture towards the retreating figure that he supposedly cared for. If he wasn't going to console the obviously upset female, then Snow Rose would. But for now, she turned her attention back to Fenrir, smiling at him with pride still burning in her eyes and hunger beginning to tear at the depths of her stomach. "How about we go and get something for lunch? We can take a quick trip to the Hunting Grounds to see if anything living has returned," she suggested before sighing, "y'know, most of my favoured herbs were found there. Maybe I could point some out to you if they've begun to regrow," Snow Rose mused, aiming to sate both her hunger and her curiosity by visiting the Hunting Grounds. Surely after more than six months something would have been able to grow back, right? Plus, with her exiting from the Common Grounds, she wouldn't give herself the opportunity to accidentally start distracting herself with the thought of Ebony, and she decided that if Macha hadn't returned by the time they had finished catching a meal and scouting her herbs through ash and snow, she would go looking for the young she-wolf herself.

Even as he took great care not to push her over, he could feel her still wobbling from his weight. He let off as she requested he catch her up on the events in the past weeks since she had been under the weather. Her usual soft and silky tones were hoarse and harsh on the ears, but it was to be expected when she had been out of commission for too long. He wiped his nose with his paw as best he could and smoothed his fur, regaining his control on himself. It wasn't sightly for someone of his stature to be bawling his eyes out in front of everyone. He looked back at his mentor to see her staring off, inspecting the commons. The Ferus wolf was just getting ready to leave, with Ebony and Kai in tow. He still didn't like that this wolf was getting recruits from their ranks instead of their own, after all the trouble they had caused in the past, but Mochi had deemed it okay for them to leave, and he couldn't have said anything to change anyone's mind. Before he could ask why Snow was staring so hard at Ebony, Macha, stiff and uncomfortable by the show of emotion, excused herself to probably follow in Parker's footsteps. He hadn't meant to run the dark female off by crying. His cheeks burned under his fur in embarrassment; he must have overdone it. Now self-conscious, he backed away from Snow and sat aside, wondering if he had grown at all to her since she had last seen him not under the haze of sickness. She followed Macha with her gaze for a moment, then looked over in the direction of Mochi and Ventus, where they lay in the den and tell stories to the young ones, forgetting about the older ones they had. His own ears pinned back against his head, upset that his own mother was now ignoring him and his siblings in favor of the new pup. He didn't remember her looking so fraught about losing any of them than she had when the new one had disappeared from her sight momentarily. Was he not that important to her? He shook his head. He shouldn't be thinking these things. At the very least, if any of it was true, he had Snow Rose. She cared about him. She wanted to help him as best she could, even if it was just for the purpose of passing on her craft. Fenrir wasn't a great warrior or the best hunter, but he wanted to contribute somehow in a useful way. Not that salutary work was any less important to a pack than a general or a hunting superior; in fact, from what he could tell, salutary work was one of the most mentally taxing jobs there were. You had to be sharp at all times, ready to help at a moment's notice and able to identify the right herbs needed no matter how tired you were. The more he saw, the more he respected Snow for being able to mentally take all the stress. His ear flicked towards the cloudy white female as she addressed him once more, proposing they go find something to eat in the hunting grounds. She must be hungry after all this time of barely keeping anything down. He nodded, ready to eat and learn more if anything was growing back in that area once more. He guessed something must be sprouting up again, maybe not abundant yet, but recovering. Quietly he followed, a gentle smile on his face He was getting some sense of normalcy back. And on the way, he could fill her in on what she had missed out on. EXIT TO: Lubrusca General Hunting Territory @snow Rose

L Y S I CHeir of Lubrusca Lysic had thrown snowballs his brother’s way, keeping to his snow berm as he heard the quips from his lighter colored sibling. A smile was placed on Lysic’s face as he peeked over, seeing that his brother was no longer hiding behind the tree trunk that he had previously taken refuge with. Lysic’s one eye glance around, but before he could even react, a large burly figure was barreling towards him. The male scrambled to get out of the way, but it seemed that it was too late. His body went flying, snow following quickly behind him. He found himself buried in the white powder, snorting as he brought himself out of the snow. Sneezing as it tickled at his nose, he looked to see that his brother was standing there, and Dante as well. He assumed that it was the older male that had come barreling towards him, as his fur was covered in snow. A small grin slipped onto Lysic’s lips, eyeball looking towards the General as he spoke of going towards the borders. Finally, something to be done. Approaching Hydran, he took a moment to stand next to his brother before shaking his pelt out. Snow went flying onto the large male, and Lysic took off after the General, a grin placed on his face.

Sanguine eyes bored into the Ferus male’s, playful wit sinking into the Scout’s visage. Turning a frosty cranium toward Ebony, she listened apathetically to the male’s morbid rumblings, a flick of a half tail being her only reaction to his oh-so chilling musings. Lubrusca had been dead to the Scout for some time, would she really care if it were truly that way? Kai couldn’t pick out a single individual from this pack she had any affection for. Although her attitude had improved remarkably since the fire, there was no issue in telling the dame’s feelings toward the pack. It was simply a pitstop, how could you r home be occupied with creatures who wrinkle their noses at the sight of you? It was disdainful, was Lubrusca not centered around compassion and love? Everything about the pack was a lie, an abomination. Life as a rogue would be preferable had she figured out where to go. With a final sweeping look at whatever superior was closest, alabaster auricles fluttered backwards harshly. “Well if you two aren’t willing to fight for this pack, I will.” Shaking her head in disappointment, Kai trotted to join Flint after a resentful look at them, jaw clenched. “Are Superiors not supposed to lay their lives on the line for the children? Or would you rather watch them die?” Kai spat, fire tickling the inside of her throat, voice quavering. “You’ve done nothing for this pack, stop ignoring your problems like a coward, and face them.”

“Yeah!” Basil, Dante’s youngest, piped up promptly, eager to insert her two scents. “I want to be just like our father, a valiant warrior!” Sorrel eyes shone brightly as Basil spoke, enraptured in delightful glorified dreams of her future. “I want to fight a mountain lion one day! I’m gonna be just like him!” Just then, she faltered, again shy and demure, but not before he’d seen potential. Although she was timid now, quaking at the prospect of putting herself out there, her father’s sprightly, irrepressible spirit lingered within her. All they needed was the right wolf to help draw it out. “I’m sure you will be,” He chuckled, giving the pup a soft, reassuring smile. “Maybe you’ll be even better than he. Forget a mountain lion — how would you like to take on a bear, Basil? You could be the first to do so.” In his peripherals, he caught a glimpse of Snow, seemingly raised from the dead, accompanied by apprentice Fenrir. Ever since the salutary had sickened, her appearances had become rarities, but now, she appeared somehow more—alive. That gaunt, half sunken gaze practically gleamed with a furious, adamant fervor directed entirely towards him, her pale head twisted stiffly towards him. That was odd. Snow didn’t typically direct anger towards him undeserved, but what could he have possibly done? Perhaps he’d failed to fetch a certain herb for her on their hunting excursions, or she felt that Fenrir had been neglected during his training. He met her gaze hesitantly, scanning for signs of anger. For a fraction of a second, golden eyes gleaned sharply, gesturing to a shadowed form slinking off to Old Commons: Macha. Once he’d seen her, Snow averted her auburn gaze, satisfied. Her message had been made perfectly clear. His darling appeared frazzled, agitated for reasons he couldn’t yet completely understand. It was Parker, wasn’t it? The absolute scoundrel — he scowled, taking one terrific moment to fantasize the fantastic ways he’d throttle him— but he’d been no good from the start. Then again, when was the last time they had actually had a chance to just talk? No flames, no pups, no patrolling session, just him and her having a pleasant chat where the world seemed beautiful, the snow itself enchanting, and him absolutely hilarious. There hadn’t been much time since he had become Alpha, since Ven. Perhaps she’d missed such. He knew he certainly did. Guilt harshly gripped him at her pained expression, the lost, wandering look in her eyes as she quietly slipped away to the place they had first deemed “home.” Had he, oh dear — she didn’t feel replaced, did she? The thought was too much to bear. Duty clearly beckoned. “I’ll be right back.” He quipped off-handedly to Ventus. “I think I’ve a meeting elsewhere.”

Basil's eyes got wide as Alpha Mochi offered up the prospect of being the first to fight a bear, sacrificing the words to the young pup's unrestrained imagination. The black pup watched Mochi as he disappeared, but she was paying him no mind now, instead the thoughts were floating through her mind, raging about like a wolf gone mad. Thick, dark, brown fur bristled and moved across the massive shoulders of a grizzly, circling her, never taking it's eyes off of Basil. Funny enough in her imagination she wasn't full grown, she was still a youngster, a puppy, she should have been completely cowed by the image before her, but instead Basil was tense and ready, waiting for a fight. The grizzly lifted a paw and struck out at her, but Basil's lightning reactions kicked into gear and the world slowed down around her. The narrative that raged in the pup's mind was akin to listening to an old warrior tell tales of their feats long past, hilarious and obviously embroidered with a few minor lies for an edge in excitement. However, to Basil, it wasn't a telling of her past feats, it was her future, something she would do whether tomorrow or in two years, eventually, at least as far as Basil was concerned, Basil would be telling the pup's this story.

At the prospect of a story from Auntie Ventus, Nascha's tail wagged slightly behind him. Tangerine fur was already clogged up with his siblings, so the little owlet just sat close by. “Did you know that your father once took on a mountain lion almost by himself? We were out on a hunt, and Devika was really close to making her first kill when all of a sudden this large animal appeared! It almost got Devika but Dante heroically threw himself into the mountain lion. A huge battle ensued and your father battle bravely. In the end, he sent the mountain lion with its tail between its legs running back to the mountains it came from,” Ventus' storytelling skills were superb! Nascha's eyes were opened wide, his mouth slightly ajar at the story of his father. The General was the only icon that Nascha had, so to hear that he had fended off what sounded like such a dangerous creature was simply stunning. As Maddox's questions bombarded the den, the observant pup's mind was still reeling. He wanted to absorb every detail of the story, just so he could ask Dante about it later. He was startled out of his little world by the devil himself. His father's fake growling before a wet tongue slathered over his face brought him right back into the real world. “I’m sorry Ventus, I couldn’t resist. Please accept these mice as compensation. Did I scare you all? Don’t underestimate her, your Aunt Ventus has ripped off more than her fair share of tails, haven’t you Ven? As much as I’d like to join you, I’m thinking of taking the boys and Devika out to the borders. Maybe bring back a wolf or two if they seem right,” his father's conclusion to ultimately not join them in the den brought him a small bit of sadness, but being a General was no joke. He had a job to do, and Nascha sure as heck respected him for that. His father's head was replaced with Mochi's the story of how Ventus had thoroughly soaked his pelt after he had annoyed her bringing back the air of hilarity to the den. As Basil piped up that she wanted to fight a mountain lion too, the owl-faced pup looked to his sister. She really wanted to do that? To be that brave? Not like Nascha would be able to stop her if she decided to, but he could still worry that his baby sister was about to dart out and try to strangle a monster. "I don't know what I want to be yet, but I know I want to be like Dad! Definitely that," The young pup spoke up after Mochi's head disappeared from the den. Bright amber eyes looked to his siblings, seeing what they thought about their futures. Alphess Ventus Apprentice Maddox Scout Cecilia @basil

| Alphess Ventus of Lubrusca | She was warmed to hear the pups respond to her story, Maddox especially. The male had always been the outspoken and loud one, giving his opinion rather quickly after given something to talk about. It seemed that him and Milo were the most adventurous ones of the litter, or at least the more vocal ones. She hadn’t seen much of the others out and about, but that would hopefully change once the lands were safer for them to roam. Much like her litter, they were growing up rather fast. She felt as if it was yesterday they were nursing from her belly. The absence of their mother left Ventus the sole she-wolf to be able to feed the litter. She hadn’t minded, they were family to her. But it felt like with every passing day, her litter and Dante’s were growing older by the second, readying to take on the world one pawstep at a time. Maddox asked her about a story of her own adventures. There were many, and she simply wasn’t sure where she should begin. It seemed that the world planned to give her many heart attacks today, or rather Dante planned to. He came rushing into the den, a low growl coming from his throat as he tried scaring her and the pups. It partially worked, her head whipping around. An annoyed expression passed over her face as she swatted her tail at her General. He had two mice dangling from his jaws, bringing them as an offering to the pups and herself. She would feed later, since they would need to hunt eventually. She kept herself well fed, since she needed to for Keala.
Dante talked about her ripping off other wolves’ tails and she couldn’t help but chuckle at the sentence. It felt as if her sassy and spunky self had vanished since the devastation that had brought itself through her lands, but the carefree nature and generally happy attitude of most of her wolves brought back a small part of her she had thought she’d lost. As he mentioned taking the boys to the borders, she smiled at the thought. “Yes, if you find anyone that is fitting for the pack feel free to bring them back with you,” She said, granting him permission to do so. Ventus knew that they needed more wolves in their ranks. They had growing numbers with the pups, but they were not battle ready, and would hardly be if the impending threat that the Ferus wolf had talked about was real. Ventus didn’t doubt that wolves like that existed and were willing to take over her territory, but she hoped that for right now, they would be left alone. The world had already taken many things from her, and hopefully it would provide her with a break. Dante left the den, leaving them in momentary silence. The pups would be buzzing about, speaking. She had forgotten they asked for a story from her, and she was only reminded by the masculine voice that traveled through the den from outside. Mochi.
The male started talking, relieving her of storytelling duties for the time being as he went on a tale of how she had completely overpowered him. He was exaggerating a bit, but most of it was true. Although Ventus was small, she was still able to overturn her mate in battle with quick moves and sharp wits. She remembered the story fondly. It had been one of the first times her and Mochi had spent time together. He had indeed been testing his luck, and she simply showed him his place. She was lucky to have him. He had taken charge of the pack rather quickly, especially after the fire that had spread throughout the territory. She couldn’t thank the male enough for all he had done, even if he said there was none necessary. As he wrapped up the story, she let out a small laugh, belly moving just enough to disturb Keala who whimpered in distaste. She nudged her newborn back to her stomach, letting her suckle a bit more before she would unlatch and fall asleep. Before she could say anything to her mate, it seemed that his attention was taken away by one of the wolves in the commons.
She sighed, wanting to have one moment alone with him, but currently she was covered in pups and he was rushing off after another wolf. She looked towards the pups around her, seeing as they would probably be feasting on the mouse that their father had caught for them. She settled down, laying her head on the ground, making sure not to squish anyone as she let out a small relieved sigh. Being a new mother was tiring, and with all the events today, Ventus slowly drifted asleep, listening to the pups playfully scuffling. She would wake if there was anything that happened, but she let her eyes fall shut, one ear listening as she got some sleep.

Maddox"Maybe our future's so bright it fucking burns like a Wildfire." Maddox looked to Ventus, having already inquired about a story of her battles, they would have to just patiently wait for the she-wolf to give one. But the time between did not go uninterrupted as their father came bursting into the den, two mice hanging from his jaws as he did so. Ventus swatted at him with her tail, and Maddox let out a little giggle at the interactions between his aunt and father. Looking to the mice, Maddox had already had most of a squirrel, so he would instead let his other siblings have the mice. Keeping himself where he was lying, he looked towards his father as he spoke of heading to the borders. He wanted to go! He was going to get up, but his father vanished before he could even offer to go. Settling himself from getting too excited, it seemed that they weren’t lacking in visitors. Mochi, their uncle, joined at the mouth of the den, talking about how Ventus had basically overpowered him. He giggled at the thought, almost rolling onto Keala out of laughter. But he made careful notice of the bright pup.
His siblings started talking about their futures, and he pondered on his a bit. “I want to be like Dad and Mochi! I want to be able to help the pack as much as I can!” He stated, looking towards his siblings while wagging his tail. They all seemed to have similar ideas, which wasn’t uncommon. Dad was the coolest wolf in their life after all, Mochi and Ventus being a close second of course.

- Beta Ebony - Someone who cannot hate something, cannot love something, either. “You know your packmates would rather die,” Flint spat. Ebony could've sworn he felt the adversary's cold saliva spray his dry nose. He wasn't wrong; Ebony knew how to decipher between literal and figurative language. The stubborn Lubruscan wolves would have believed Ebony if he'd spoken up, for they'd never known him to lie, but perhaps it was in their best interest that Ebony handled this alone. What would they do with worry? Scramble like mice from hawks until they were prodded to death if they weren't already to die from heartache? They could have a few more days of peace if Ebony were to leave now."I can't do this without you," a whisper, breaking, stuttered behind him. It was Prim, his apprentice. Ebony was quite fond of her despite his lack of affection. He could admit that the sound of her shaking voice was agony to his ears, for he knew it may be the last of it he'd ever hear until he found her screaming while beasts tore her apart, limb by limb."You have to," Ebony said, his tone undoubtably finding itself in a place it he'd never found it before: at the bass of his chest where his heart went still. He could not console her although he knew she wanted him to, and he lost his breath because of it.
There were several feelings, chemicals perhaps reacting to innate dread, coursing through Ebony's mind that he hadn't experienced before. He had never thought of Snow Rose in any other way than a means through which to plant his seed, but as he caught her gaze he discovered a new kind of beauty he'd longed to witness. The ability to empathize, the power made possible through sensitivity of the imagination, was a beautiful phenomena, and for the first time, as he fell limp into her eyes, Ebony felt as if he were seeing in color. But as soon as her look disappeared, so did the radiant hues, and he began to wonder what it was his heart was so hysterically pounding for.
He wasn't afraid for himself. He did not fear death, and he'd never been afraid of farewells. He feared failing at his job to protect Lubrusca. It was Ventus he had sworn himself to, but the Lubruscan wolves had served as teachers of very important lessons that Ebony would take with him for the rest of his life. Ventus taught him the power love had in destroying and creating, though he'd never put it into good use but to understand the world around him; Mochi taught him that being a leader required more than the myriad of hard skills Ebony possessed; Snow Rose had now shown him beauty which he'd never seen, nor comprehended, and he longed to see her again so he could learn more. Though he was morbidly good at goodbyes, this one would not be easy. It was time.
Exit to Unknown I'm getting a little emotional writing this; Ebony is experiencing feelings for the first time. I love Lubrusca and I love everything Ebony's gone through here and, as exciting as Ebony's future plot is going to be, I will miss this one. I feel like part of Ebony's original character is dying, but what's gone has opened so many doors for both myself and this very special character. I love you all
