| Miyu seemed to wake up, which was a relief for Solex. He didn’t want to have to explain to the Alphas as well as an entire litter of pups that their sister was not alive, and that the two that had accompanied her out to the borders would have to live with the fact that they had killed their sister. But with the pups awakening came a strikingly sad and worried question. She said that something was covering her eye. He looked towards her, grey eyes alarmed. What did she mean she couldn’t see out of her eye? He watched as Aspen approached behind her, waving a paw in front of the eye that she indeed said was ‘covered’. She used the same trick that he had used on the cyclops once she had lost her eye, something that was all too cruel and all too familiar to him. He chuckled a bit before worry set in. Miyu couldn’t see out of her eye. It seemed that her head injury had knocked something wrong with her seeing, as her eye was moving around just like the other, but as Solex approached, he saw a glint that told him she was not at all able to see. Blind wolves, whether born blind or simply made blind, always held a certain posture and look to their eye, if it were there of course.
Solex looked towards the pups that had gathered, Natsu having appeared and asking what was wrong. “It seems, Miyu,” He said, turning to his niece. “That with your fall, your injury has caused you to lose sight in that eye,” He said, looking towards her with worried eyes. “It might just be from the shock of the fall, but I’m honestly not sure,” Those words shook him to the core. To not be sure about something was new to the male, it had been a recurring feeling throughout the past couple months, and when it came to his niece, the one he could tolerate most at that, he was extremely anxious about what was to come. “How is your head feeling?” He asked, his eyes darting over to Aislynn. She was supposed to be helping him, so she was going to be put to use. “Aislynn, bring those cobwebs over here,” He said, looking towards her with an expectant gaze. The she-pup would comply or else he would make sure she grabbed them with an angry glare set her way. Once they were in his possession, he stripped the old ones from the wound, seeing that the poultice he had applied had hardened. Licking it gently, he warmed it a bit, letting it seep into the wounds more. He would need to go out and gather more herbs, which he would surely take Aislynn and Iylah to do. Potentially Natsu if Jay could expend him.
Looking towards Aspen, he gave her a small bump of his head, pulling closer to her. Her scent and presence were intoxicating, and it was irritating that pups were currently crowding his den so he couldn’t go back to sleep and curl around her once more. But being near her would do. “Aislynn, discard the used cobweb,” He said, pointing to it with his tail. The she-pup would do as he said, or she would wish she was dead instead of helping him. Solex didn’t care for disobedience and she was already in enough trouble with her parents.

Everything was just going so fast! Dad was yelling, Rizeal was being mean, Uncle Sol had come back to save Miyu with the Cyclops in tow but without the pretty Lluise wolf. Tears just constantly spilled over innocent eyes. Ti didn't like everything that was going on, not at all. She just wanted to play with Zekie in the snow! But then big meanie Aislynn had to go and trick Iylah and Miyu into going to the borders and now Miyu was really really hurt. With her sisters banished into Uncle Sol's den, Tikaani didn't quite know what to do. Retreating back into the den they were never supposed to leave, the overwhelmed pup tried to compose herself. -Time skip: Next day-Tikaani was curled up on the edge of the cuddle pile, stuck on one side of Ezikeal while the rest of her siblings were on his other side. However, one of them moving was still able to wake her up. Cracked amber eyes caught sight of Natsu's frame leaving the assigned confines of the den. She would have said something to him had she not heard that he was going to visit Miyu. In a perfect daydream world, Miyu would be all better by now. There wouldn't even be a scratch on her! But that wasn't the way it worked sadly. She's still be all hurt, but Ti could still hope that she was at least okay. Peeling herself off of Zekie, the third born moved herself over to the mouth of the den. There was no way she was going to disobey her parents already. Peeking over to where Natsu had gone, she tried to see whether or not he was reaction positively or negatively to whatever Uncle Sol was likely saying. It was hard to tell from just looking at his rump, but silently, she really hoped that her little sister was okay. @miyu Alpha Jay Alphess Semira Hunter Natsu @aislynn @rizeal @ezikeal Scout Iylah

Their act of fraternal thrust didn't seem to faze their father, as expected. The Alpha of Ferus stood firm, unmoved by the emotions showed by his daughters. Iylah had never seen him this angry, this dissapointed in anyone. She wanted his dad to give the sentence and be done with it already, so that she could at least cry without spectators nearby. “Your punishment is going to be spending time with your uncle caring for Miyu,” pronounced Jay, who had turned to look at their uncle and salutary of the pack, Solex. He was, at best, very intimidating for the young pup. It wasn't that she didn't like him buut, uncle sol was really tough to like in the first place. Always grumpy and meann, he was just difficult to be around with. Yet, Iylah just swallowed her fears and insecurities up and followed the black wolf, as he gently carried their injured sibling by the scruff into his den. On their way, Rizeal showed up, had a little encounter with Aislynn. Iylah ignored them both, leaving them to bicker. Much more important stuff was at hand. The pup looked into the den, waiting. Waiting for a response, a sentece, anything that said she was gonna be alright. There she stayed, even after Aislynn had gotten inside. Iylah wasn't sure if to go in or not, she didn't want to screw things up more than they already were. Biting her lip, entering ever-so slowly, she followed the trail of her older sister, just to find both her and Miyu, one cuddling against the other. Aislynn willingly cuddling with Miyu, the she-wolf rounded the pair, finding herself a comfortable space for her to rest. We really messed this one up...Time skip: Next dayAfter hours of good ol' shut-eye, Iylah woke, dizzy. Last one to do so, as Aislynn and the others were awake already, even-Miyu! Basically hopping from the ground to her sister's location, the pup excitedly licked her sister's face. "You are okay! You are okay!," she repeated, ignoring the presence of everybody present. Although she harbored more than her fair share of suspicions regarding her uncle’s healing abilities, she was certain; positive that whatever was the matter with Miyu’s eye, he would have fixed. He tried harder when it came to family, wolves he liked as few as they were, and who didn’t like Miyu? Certainly he’d try his absolute hardest to fix her — and maybe, just maybe, if not for her or Father’s sake, then for Mama’s. Of all the wolves and warriors Ferus bore, he loved her most, she was sure. No, he’d never let Mama down, not if he could help it. Even as Natsu swooped in, flustered and fearful in a manner he never was, she maintained faith. All would amend itself eventually; if not today, then tomorrow. No real need for Natsu to storm in and kick up a fuss. After all, if Uncle Solex didn’t seem worried, then why should she ever— An unfamiliar emotion flashed across her uncle’s normally grating disapproving gaze, dissipating her decisiveness. Her pulse hastened, fluttering in her throat as she considered the possibility that perhaps Uncle Sol couldn’t fix this. “It seems, Miyu,” Solex seemed uncharacteristically somber, uncertain for once in his life. “That with your fall, your injury has caused you to lose sight in that eye.” Aislynn took a small step back, stunned at Uncle’s ignorance. How could he not know? Lynn swallowed hard; acutely, painfully aware of how suddenly her mouth had dried up. She thought he knew everything, but even if he didn’t, he could still fix her, right? And then she’d be good as new, back to normal, two eyes and all. He commanded her to fetch him webs. She complied without a word of complaint, waiting for words of reassurance, that all this was only temporary and Miyu would be alright in the end. Such comfort never came. He worked quietly, wordlessly, intently focused on the task at hand. Miyu and Natsu hadn’t said a single word yet, so she hadn’t either, disposing of the webs the moment her uncle commanded. It would end up alright, Lynn attempted to assure herself. Why, it had to. She couldn’t bear to think of what would happen if it didn’t. And even as Iylah barged in, bumbling, stumbling in her clumsy, haphazard way, she maintained her small, quavering sliver of faith. It’d be fine. Jay looked to the two that were being punished, and watched them as they went after Solex’s retreating figure. Rizeal spoke up to Aislynn, giving a snide comment that Jay didn’t approve of. Although Rizeal was leading material, she certainly wasn’t acting like it. But, before he could reprimand his own child, Aspen stepped in, giving the pup a piece of her mind. How odd. Aspen had often ignored the pups before now, but as the white lupine followed the Jay’s black brother-in-law, he put two and two together, smirking a bit. All that talking to Semira about how Jay wasn’t a good potential mate for her and that she shouldn’t pursue mateship, yet he was opening up and letting in one of the most sarcastic and sassy wolves in the pack. Swishing his tail, he looked to the remaining pups that were there, Natsu, Rizeal, Tikaani and Ezikeal. It seemed that the four were the only ones that would listen to him and his mate, and he barked to them, telling them to head back to the den to their mother before they were to get in trouble. Jade eyes flickered to Solex’s den, concerned for what would happen to Miyu. The pup was one of the more caring individuals in his litter, and was quite possibly the hardest to resist when it came to the amount of love she possessed. He could say that he definitely favored her, even if that were wrong of him to do. He knew that Solex would care for her, as the black male showed a weak spot when it came to her, even if he refused to admit it, looking to all the other wolves around, he dismissed them to do their own duties and to stop hanging around the commons before he himself headed out to do some tasks that needed to be done -Time Skip- Jay awoke to the mumbled sound of Natsu saying that he was going to visit Miyu. Jay gave him a simple nod, going back to sleep. But something was wrong with the other pups that were in the den. Lifting his head and not disturbing Semira, he looked to the unmoving body of Ezikeal. His heart plummeted. Not him to. Lifting himself, he nudged the pup, no movement coming from him as Jay’s nose pushed. His breathing was shallow, and there was definitely something wrong. As much as he would have liked to not worry the litter anymore with the potential death of a littermate, he needed to get the young one to Solex as fast as possible. Picking him up by the scruff, Jay exited the den, heading towards Solex’s den, he quickly entered, not caring that there were probably too many wolves in the den currently. Aspen was there, not much to Jay’s surprise. He looked towards the large black male. The area was spacious enough, holding enough room for four full grown wolves to be inside comfortably. He placed Ezikeal’s limp body on the ground, looking towards Solex. “I woke up and found him like this,” Jay stated, voice gruff from sleep as he looked to the black male. “Please tell me there’s something you can do,” Jay looked towards Solex. “I know that you aren’t approving of me being with your sister, but do this for her, if you won’t do it for me,” He breathed, jade eyes looking towards the male. He then looked towards his other pups that were gathered, and to Miyu. Something was wrong. Her one eye didn’t look right. He looked towards Solex, expecting an answer from the male as he would need an update on his daughter’s condition.

So quickly her moment of solace with the newest member of the impaired vision club was ruined by the arrived of her siblings. “Uncle Sol, what’s wrong with her?” he badgered from outside the den, already grating on the she-wolf's nerves. Everyone just woke up, why was he so damn chipper. A much more important pitch frame began to move, his voice capturing her attention as he addressed Miyu, “It seems, Miyu, that with your fall, your injury has caused you to lose sight in that eye. It might just be from the shock of the fall, but I’m honestly not sure. How is your head feeling?” At least Aspen had been correct. As her mate ordered the growing number of awakened annoyances, she made her way back over to him. Rubbing the side of her head back through his fur, she sighed heavily at the predicament they were in. There was no way they were going to get back to sleep, not with the racket of four pups echoing off the walls. As with any good landfill, crap just continued to pile onto the situation. Jay burst into the den, sleep still clinging to his eyes while his youngest clung to life in his jaws. "Shit," Aspen hissed under her breath, knowing that the wall of warmth beside her was being called for duty again. “I woke up and found him like this. Please tell me there’s something you can do. I know that you aren’t approving of me being with your sister, but do this for her, if you won’t do it for me,” Jay's voice was still hoarse as he talked to Solex. With her one remaining mint eye, Aspen scanned the pups around her, making sure she knew where they all were. Seeing a dead sibling was something that the huntress was quite used to, but they shouldn't have to see that just yet. "Aislynn, Iylah, come over here and stay near me. Natsu, you can join if you want, or just head back to wherever you came from," Crowd control was never Aspen's strong suit, but it would have to be while Solex needed space to deal with the barely moving scrap. With Miyu still thoroughly covered in poultices and cobwebs, and with a head injury, it probably wasn't best for her to be moving too much. Aspen moved back to the place she took up beside the only pup she tolerated, fully expecting at least the two other pups to follow her instructions. If they even got close to hesitating, she would shoot them a glare. Perhaps her mate's personality was rubbing off on her. Quite fortunate for his situation. Ti had been so concerned looking at what Natsu was doing that she didn't even notice that her father had woken up until he shoved past her, Zekie hanging from his jaws. In an instant, she bolted after him. She didn't want to be stuck in the den alone with Rizeal, her sister had been a little bit mean yesterday and she might not have gotten nicer yet. That, and something seemed to be wrong with Zekie. Usually, he was bouncing around already and they could go play. But that wasn't the case today. She skidded to a halt after her father, not entering the den just yet. Concern already wove its way onto her face despite it still being early in the morning. Tikaani stuck her head into the den, her eyes scanning over everyone. Naturally, she was overjoyed to see Miyu awake, but her glee turned to horror soon after when her amber eyes were set on Zekie. Just a few minutes ago, she had been sleeping on him. Did she hurt him? Why didn't she notice that he was sick? Was she going to get stick too? Anxiously, Tikaani tiptoed in place. There was nothing she could do! She really wanted to help out, but she didn't know how! Her eyes began to glass over with premature unshed tears, the early morning combined with the stress of so much happening was a lot to handle. The silence following her question is deafening, and she can feel the cold tide of panic rising in her chest. She tracks Aspen with her one good eye as she travels to her left side until she can’t see her any longer, gaze shifting back to Solex as the pale she-wolf finished whatever experiment she was conducting. The tiny spark of hope in her chest gives way, crushed by the lack of answers forthcoming - at least, the lack of any answer she wanted to hear. As Aspen’s thick tail comes to rest around her, she leans into the touch, now watery eyes lifting up, up, up, until the ashen female comes into view. Her expression is soft, so soft - and coming from the prickly adult, that meant nothing good. Miyu, there’s nothing covering your eye, sweetheart. But before you freak out too much, at least you’ve still got both eyes. I’m stuck winking at everyone. She cannot help the small giggle that escapes her maw at that, though it came out a little strangled. That small bit of humor is enough to break through the mounting pity party Miyu was about to unabashedly fall into, maturity taking root in the young wolf’s mind. It wasn’t the end of the world; Aspen was one of the best Ferus wolves around and she hadn’t had an eye for...for forever! Miyu knew she would be just...fine. However, no amount of rationality can keep the childish tears from falling, and she sniffles, lowering her head to carefully scrub at her cheeks with a paw. The entrance of a good amount of her siblings has her shying away into the cover of Aspen’s fur as she quickly tries to erase evidence of her sorrow; if Rizeal saw her like this, there was no doubt that copious amounts of scorn and ridicule were headed her way. Luckily it was just about everyone except her harshest sibling, and she shoots a grateful - if not a little feeble - smile Aislynn’s way as she begins tending to her wounds. Her Uncle Sol’s deep baritone washes over her - confirming her partial blindness like Aspen had, but somehow his absolute calm in the face of what she viewed to be a tragedy soothes her frazzled nerves. If Solex wasn’t panicking then why should she? He was the medical expert - even if he admitted he didn’t know what was going on. The soot pelted babe blinks out of her reverie as her vision is suddenly filled with the joyous form of her sister Iylah, nose wrinkling even as a smile pulls at her lips as her sibling peppers her cheeks with licks. ”Yes, I’m okay.” she tries to calm her overexcited sibling, determinedly ignoring the way her voice continued to shake. No doubt it would take ages to get used to her newfound disability, but the worried presence of her family assured the pup that she would have their support every step of the way. Perhaps everything would be okay? Or perhaps not. No sooner had her tail begun to wag again did he father burst into the den with the limp form of her youngest brother in tow, unmoving and unresponsive. She can feel her spirits plummet, and every fear she had experienced for Aislynn and Iylah upon first waking up now shifts to Ezikeal. ”Oh no,” she whispers lowly, tears bubbling up in her eyes once more. Mismatched gaze turns with quiet desperation to glance between her father and her uncle - the two strongest male figures in her life; if anyone could fix this burgeoning tragedy, it was them.

After Dis had come into the common grounds, she made sure they found their way into their writhing-with-wrath father and made her own way off after making sure that she was allowed to leave. She walked off to her own little spot, trying not to but being unable to help thinking about the wrath the pups would face and if any of them were hurt in any way. But, she knew this was between Jay and Semira and the pups for now, and not her. So, away she walked, contemplating pack politics as she once again faced a time with nothing to do and no one to talk to.
-Time Skip-
Winter still stubbornly stomped its foot down on the land, huffing breaths of pallid color through the air and clutching onto the land with slippery fingers, not wanting to let go. Dis, however, minded not the cold. Ferus, with barren grounds consisting mostly of apricot dust and rocks, entering into an intense state of calefaction any time the sun merely popped out with a cheery 'hello.' Dis found preferable the abundance of frozen water to the lack of thawed such, and the sting of chill she faced with a coat fluffed to the burn of heat she faced with sweaty fur.
However, this particular morning, it appeared the cold was not just that of the winter, as a chill in the mood also seemed to drop with sudden volatility. While Dis was getting prepared to perhaps go catch herself some breakfast, it was clear that something had happened. While the adults further investigated Miyu's loss of sight, Jay, limp form in maw, rushed over to Solex's den. Dis could not hear what he said inside, but she could hear his tone. Desperate, distressed. Disheartened? Dis looks down at her ivory claws that gently earth up dirt. Maybe it was better Oshim was gone. It seemed these relationships could only ever lead to pain.

| Azazel brought the two pups into the commons, who had complied with his command of staying close to him rather well. They had decided now to listen to someone. How ironic. The hawk dangled from his maw as he watched the small gathering of family around the injured Lluise had departed, although the bitch in question was nowhere to be seen. Azazel looked to Jay, noting how his Alpha was rather angry with the two pups that had endangered their sister’s life. They were lucky that Miyu was even alive. Gruffly sitting down, he let the hawk rest at his paws as he watched the scene unfold in front of him. Their reprimanding didn’t seem much of one, given that they were to take care of Miyu under Solex’s guidance. He was sure that punishment should be harsher than one Jay had in mind, but these pups were the future he supposed. This pack had gotten softer under Jay’s rule, but not too soft. The male still kept with the harsh regimen that Thatcher had left behind, albeit tweaking it a bit as he had taken a mate and was allowing others to romantically become involved, something Thatcher would have never allowed. The appearance of the Salutary swooping in and taking Miyu was not something that surprised him, however what did, was Aspen’s snapping at the eldest of the litter who had quite the foul mouth on her.
He watched as the cyclops headed into Solex’s den. What business did she have there? Of course she had followed behind Solex from where he presumed the mountain creek was, something already suspicious, but Azazel was not one looking for petty pack drama. Instead, he sat silently as he watched the wolves around him shuffle about. With the injured pup now in Solex’s den, the tension that was in the air dispersed as Jay headed back to his den, taking the other pups that had stayed in the commons back to the den, more than likely to let Semira know of their pups injury and where three of their litter was. He noticed something slightly wrong with the small male that he presumed was named Ezikeal. He shrugged it off however, picking up the hawk and laying it in front of Solex’s den before heading to a sheltered area in the commons, settling down. Azazel had been rather stubborn and refused to use his den since winter had come. He had thick enough fur that the cold of winter hardly bothered him.
-Time Skip to Next Day-
He could hear the scampering paws of pups, and he opened one eye, looking over as the litter was heading towards Solex’s den. More than likely to pester about their sibling. He shifted a bit, the snow that had fallen the night before shifting from atop him to the ground around him. He then heard harder footsteps, yellow eye opening once more to see Jay was carrying the pup from yesterday in his jaws, the little body almost hanging lifeless from the Alpha’s jaw. He growled, knowing that something had indeed been wrong yesterday, but he knew it wasn’t his business, so he kept himself in his current position, opting to not dash off to the borders quite yet to see what became of the litter and the sickly pup. | OOC: |

Something had gone horribly wrong.
While she’d never been the brightest of wolves, she knew just enough about the cyclops to know she was never soft. And the tone she’d adopted with her sister now seemed uncharacteristically so, gentle and sweet and so not like her. Ferus wolves had never been the coddling or cuddling type, especially Aspen, but for her to have changed like this — something awful had to have happened. Was she dying? Or worse — was Miyu dying? There were tears enough, true, but with Miyu they were always in abundance. Still, for her to have shown such concern, tender concern at that, it couldn’t have been good news. The sorrel pup took a tentative step toward the mouth of the den. For the first time, she’d realized that perhaps the whole ordeal might not be as easily fixable as she first deemed.
Then, to make poor matters worse, in stormed Father, carrying what she’d deemed a meat corpse given the limpness. A second glance showed it was anything but. Zekie dangled from Father’s jaws in a way she would’ve deemed stiff, borderline rigid even — but surely, surely that was just another one of his oddities, right? Just Ezikeal being Ezikeal, carrying on with the perplexities that had plagued them since birth. He was perfectly fine; and why wouldn’t he be? And yet as her father set him down, she caught a glimpse of his eyes, gleaming with the worried glint of yesterday. “I woke up and found him like this,” He panted. “Please tell me there’s something you can do.” She gulped. Surely — surely there was, right?
"Aislynn, Iylah, come over here and stay near me.” Now that right there sounded more like the Cylcop’s style. Still, she couldn’t place what was happening, other than that everybody seemed horribly worried and the air smelled odd, bitter and sweet at once. Miyu appeared to be on the verge of tears yet again, and Natsu appeared terribly frightened. Automatically, Aislynn’s tongue darted out to swipe her sister’s nose before any bothersome tears could creep out — though whether it was for her sake or Miyu’s was entirely up for debate. Why was everyone so emotional today? Was she not getting something? “Cyyy—Aspen. What’s happening? Why is everyone so—“ She wriggled around, unable to assign words accordingly. Words or none though, she was certain the Cyclops could supply the answer. After all, they didn’t claim she knew everything for no reason, did they not?

Things were going better! Miyu had finally woken up, and despite the injury on her eye, she seemed to manage. Aspen seemed nicer generally, even Uncle Sol had a different character. Maybe things were meant to go this way, thought the pup, innocently, in the safety of the salutary's den, even Natsu had come to hang around. Heavy steps could be heard coming from outside, the pattern of sound that they made was familiar. Dad was coming too, fact that made Iylah nervous, how he'd look at her or how he'd treat her from now on, with all that had passed. The pup even worried if her father was going to even talk to her anymore, but without giving any time to keep thinking up more and more insecurities, Jay entered the den, carrying something on his jaws. Out of mere curiosity, the pup examined the lump of fur that now laid on the ground. "Zekie," said her, with a knot forming down her throat. Ezikael looked sick, he was barely even breathing. A husk, if anything. Iylah couldn't comprehend, when did this happen, how and why? So many unfortunate events, so close to each other. "Dad what happened? Is Zekie going to be okay?" she asked, right before getting called back by Aspen. All present seemed to be as confused as she was, but that didn't make the pup anymore comfortable. Feeling the urge to cry, she hid her body behind Aislynn's, trying her best not to let anyone see. Hunter Aspen Alpha Jay @aislynn Salutary Solex Hunter Natsu

You need your wound healed? Oh boohoo.
|
Post by Salutary Solex on May 5, 2019 19:41:25 GMT -8
| Everything seemed to be settled. Miyu’s wounds were healing well as he had changed the cobwebs that clung to her wounds, but the peaceful den was crowded with pups, all popping up into different areas. They wanted to know how their sister was doing. But right now was not the best time to crowd his den, especially if they wanted him to be happier, if that were possible for the black brute that towered over them. His grumpy demeanor returned as they flooded his den, seeing if Miyu was okay and asking questions. He had no time to really answer them, he would have answered them a bit later if they wanted, and he was going to propose that. Seeing as Aspen was there, she would be the only thing to keep him from snapping at the young pup. That and they were Semira’s children. Even if they mostly looked like Jay in appearance, they were still her offspring, and he would treat them with some kindness, even if it were the minimal amount.
Jay came into the den right after he had decided to tell the pups about their sister’s condition, holding a limp black ball of fur in his jaws. He set him down. The black pup hardly responded to the movement that was created, his chest falling shallowly, the only thing hinting that he was still alive. Solex’s silver eyes dashed from each pup, seeing as they were all present at the current moment. He then looked to Jay, growling at the male’s words. “Believe it or not, I have a heart,” He growled to the male, looking down at the pups. “These are Semira’s children, and my family. I wouldn’t just fucking abandon one of them to die because of you,” He said bitterly, knowing that his words were harsh, but he was allowed that much. Jay royally pissed him off. But right now, he couldn’t focus on that, instead he had to focus on Ezikeal, the youngest of the litter. He was currently wheezing, his breathing erratic as he tried taking gulps of air that were too shallow to support his need for oxygen. He pressed his nose to the pups ribcage, feeling for any oddities. Right underneath his throat was a lump.
Aspen was quick to gather Aislynn and Iylah, moving to stand near Miyu. He blocked their view, the burly brute moving to crouch in front of them and shield the pups from seeing what he was going to do. But that wouldn’t be enough, they would see the body once it was done with. They would need to face death with a stoic approach. He would need to introduce them to the fact that their loved ones would die. It was not because he himself had witnessed it, but even at a young age, they would be given circumstances where someone would die, thus was the life of Ferus after all. He looked towards Jay, hard silver eyes drifting to Tikaani and Natsu, the only other two that were currently able to see their dying brother. “You two,” He said, looking towards them as they refused to move from the den entrance. “Step away,” He barked. He knew that this had to be done. The lump in Ezikeal’s throat would only grow, as masses like this, no matter what herbs he used, would still grow. There was no way to remove it safely, as the young pup would bleed out before Solex was able to rid him of the mass. There was only one other outcome. Putting the pup out of his misery. Looking towards Jay once more, he said nothing as he reached for his herb stores.
He would not be killing this pup with a snap of the neck, no. He would instead use a herbal remedy that would kill him swiftly but less painfully. Nightshade. The elusive berry that he had once thought to stuff in a rabbit that Jay would have eaten, now being used to kill one of his nephews. He carried the plant carefully. Breaking a berry in his own mouth would cause terrible convulsions, but two would kill a pup, four an adult. The berries were deadly, and he only kept a few in stock at a time. There was no reason to keep more than that. Situations like this almost never occurred. As he pried the young pups mouth open, he placed the berries carefully in, the young one chewing as if he hadn’t eaten in weeks. Swallowing was hard for him, but as soon as he did, his body convulsed, Solex watching as the young pup vomited, blood spilling along with bile from his stomach. They were working well, and the cold fingers of death crept forward, taking the pup away from them as the small body finally rest, the vomit on the ground having thankfully fallen onto some discarded moss near them. It was done. Ezikeal was dead, and he would have to inform his sister. Or Jay would. He wasn’t sure if he could face his sister right now, not with her being so sick. Tired from birth, and having spent the last couple of months in her own den had produced a fever that Solex was treating when she slept, not wanting to answer any questions she had for him. Their relationship had grown colder after their conversation in the commons spiraled further downward about how he did not approve of Jay.
Now, he had killed one of her offspring, and he would leave it to Jay to bury the pup and take his body away. Once that was done, he looked back to Aspen, and down to the pups that were still there. “Out,” He said to Iylah and Aislynn. He would have had them take the moss with them, but he decided that he would discard that himself. As they would leave his den, he went and discarded the moss on the edge of the commons, burying it away from the prying eyes of others. Returning to his den with a heavy heart and head, he looked towards the beautiful white lupine he now called his mate. Miyu was there, and he prodded her to her sleeping area. “You need to sleep to heal,” He said, ignoring any questions she had about Ezikeal, as her father would be long gone with the body, burying it away near the Creek, where the rest were buried. He curled himself around Aspen, head resting on hers. “I’ve never had an issue doing that,” He whispered, eyes refusing to look down at her as he spoke. “But that was possibly the hardest thing I’ve done in my life,” His whisper was almost inaudible, but he knew that she heard him. “Besides winning over your heart,” He mumbled, the comment more for himself, but maybe this would take his mind off of the dead pup. Maybe she would be the one thing that could do that. Breathing in, he took in her scent, larger body curled around her as much as he could.

Jay’s jade eyes narrowed at Solex. No matter if he were to tell the male not to address him with sour words as he did, there would be nothing to stop Solex from being who he was. His attitude screamed Ferus, and Jay knew that. He knew that the male would never be any sorts of kind to others, but for him caring for Jay’s children, Jay was astonished to say the least, although part of his expected it. Solex would do anything for Semira, and that had been proven many times already. And now, he was helping her children, or trying to. But as Aspen called Iylah and Aislynn to her side and Miyu was shielded as well, Jay looked towards his two others that were near the mouth of the spacious den. Out there, they stood, waiting patiently for answer. Instead, Solex barked four words that made Jay’s heart plummet. Turning, he watched his brother-in-law bring some berries over to Ezikeal, the young pup taking them graciously. That was, until he started convulsing. Jay looked to Solex, wide eyed. What was this? As the pup died soon after eating the berries and vomiting blood, he looked to Solex, seeing as the pup was now dead. He was supposed to heal him. But Solex never killed maliciously, unless it would be Jay one day. He just simply grabbed the body of his now dead pup, and headed out of the den, the body being seen by Tikaani and Natsu if they were looking, but stormy jade eyes simply carried on looking ahead, not wanting to see the horrified faces of his young as he carried their dead sibling in his jaws, heading towards the creek to bury the body. He would return after burying the small body, heading to his den where Semira and Rizeal still were, sleeping soundly. A shaky breath came from him, but no tears would spill. The Alpha of Ferus would never cry, not even in front of his mate. Those days were over. But he knew that he would have to tell her somehow. Right now might not be the best time, but he would be eventually faced with her wondering where their pup was, and he would tell her far too late. Now would be the best time as she had stirred while he curled up behind her. “Ezikeal is dead,” He whispered into her ear, looking to her wide eyes as they were filled with a feverish haze. He would need to have Solex come to see her soon, but right now was not the best time. They had already been through so much, hopefully the warmth that Jay provided would be enough to chase away the fever that currently held fast to his mate. He was hopeful that she would not leave him like the others, and he knew that she would fight hard enough to come back. He wished that he could say the same for his pup.

He looked to his uncle for an answer of any kind, but he wouldn’t get one. It seemed that Miyu was injured to say the least, and he would learn more about it later, but there was something else that happened that made things even grimmer than they were. His father entered the den with the limp looking body of Ezikeal. The same pup that he had curled up next to this morning. The one that had been fine just the day before. Now, there was something wrong with him as he seemed to not respond at all to the way their father was carrying him. Looking towards his brother, Natsu listened as Aspen called for him to either come to her, or disappear back to his den. But he couldn’t. He stood there, frozen. Tikaani was near, and although he didn’t stand anywhere particular with her, she was still his sibling, and he took comfort in standing next to her, keeping close to her as he looked away from the den. He wouldn’t cry now. He had cried over Miyu, and that had shown enough weakness already. He wouldn’t cry over Ezikeal, he needed to be strong for his siblings, and show them that it was going to be okay. If he were to be any kind of leader in the future, he would need to prove that during these times, there was always someone that could persevere through the pain. Nudging Tikaani away from the den as he looked inside to see Solex prodding at his brother, that was the last sight he saw before his gaze vanished from the den and instead looked out onto the still commons. There were no wolves out right now, just his family was awake. He wondered if they would wake up soon, if there would be some sort of distraction. A black mass buried by snow was laying at the edge of the clearing, more than likely being Azazel. He knew that the male wasn’t the best to approach, so he would stay away. But he wondered why he didn’t rest in a den like the others. Maybe because of his cold attitude, he was able to withstand the cold better than most. But that was something he would ponder later, as their father emerged from the den, carrying the body of Ezikeal, who had blood dripping from his mouth, it being agape and his body almost frozen in place as Jay carried him by the scruff and away from the commons. He pushed Tikaani’s head away if she were to try and look, knowing that she wouldn’t want to see something like that. This was the first that Natsu was truly seeing something dead besides prey, and it shook him to the core. Gulping, he stomached the fear that rose within him, and instead looked into the den, seeing that Solex was wrapped around Aspen as Aislynn and Iylah were sent out of the den. Their father reappeared, and headed straight for his mother, knowing that he would tell her of Ezikeal’s passing. “Come on,” He said to the others, trotting towards the den. Rizeal may lay inside, but she had no place to treat them horribly. They had witnessed the death of their brother while she slept soundly at mother’s side. Entering the den, he approached his mother’s muzzle, giving her a lick on the cheek before settling on her front leg, nudging his head against her shoulder as if to tell her that he was there, and he was alive and well. @tikaani @aislynn Scout Iylah Alpha Jay Alphess Semira @rizeal
