| D R A C O A L P H A S O M N U SDraco watched everything happening around them, his body pressed against Aelin as close as he could possibly get to her. The large brute was not a fan of the skirmish that had come upon the commons between Benjen, Oberyn and Eureka’s pups. However, it was over before he knew it, and Violet had intervened all the while, bringing Oberyn away from the little skirmish and instead trying to talk with him about what had happened. Her motherly instincts had probably kicked in, but with six pups to watch over, Draco was thankful for any help he could get from the Beta. His attention then turned to the wolves that were still in the commons, before heading off to the hunting grounds where the hunt would be. He would return after that, and the pack would feast. -Timeskip 4 Months- It had been four months since his little bundles of fur had taken their first steps out of the den and introduced themselves to their family members. Now they were all old enough to leave the den, and had made separate dens of their own. Most of them were still not yet ready for ranks, instead staying without a rank for the time being while he and Eureka decided on suitable ranks for all the pups in the pack. Jolon and Lakaiya’s pups had also been old enough to take their first steps, and were growing into their adult forms rather quickly. Time seemed to pass so quickly in Somnus, but no blood had been shed in the past months, and it was a peaceful time that Draco knew could only last so long. His large oaken cranium turned as he looked towards the sleeping figure next to him. Aelin was sleeping soundly, and he admired her for a second, tongue darting out to lick the bridge of her nose to the top of her head, smiling as the smaller body of his mate was tucked into his larger one. The brute was thankful every day that he could call her his, and to sleep next to her. The scars along his shoulder and neck ached a bit, remembering the time when he thought that he would never see her again. Where he thought he was going to bleed out in the snowy clearing that he and Eureka had sought refuge in. The day still lingered above Draco’s head, and he had been weary of Eureka’s offspring since they were born. The little tiff between Oberyn, Benjen and them only furthered his worry. He didn’t want them to be anything like the horrible brute that had taken away Eureka’s innocence. He wished they would take after their mother, but with their attitudes, he was hardly sure that they had. They seemed so much more different from the other eleven pups in the pack. He would need to talk to Eureka and explain his concerns, but he wasn’t sure she would listen. They were her children, and like he viewed his, he saw them as nothing but perfect. And he was sure she felt the same.

The day the pups were instructed to leave the mothering den served as a wake up call, and Zelda had decidedly begun working to become an adult. She knew she was destined for prominence because of her blood, but she knew better than to let such a powerful assumption get to her head. She indeed was privileged, but she made sure to work just as hard for what she deserved as the less-advantaged had to. Both of her strong-hearted parents had passed this value to her. Zelda was not afraid to hold herself to high standards, not because of her blood, but because she was a hard worker. She may have earned some resentment for this–"overachiever," "try-hard," "suck up"–but the little tigress was never overturned by such accusations. Over the past few months, as her mind was growing as quickly as her body, she had developed a strong sense of self ownership, and after many failed attempts at making friends had learned to find power in solitude; not so much as Midna, however. Though competing with her brother to be the best of the litter was a tiresome ordeal, she had discovered a motherly love for the rambunctious explorer that she didn't have for Midna. The obsidian loner never wandered off on her own and rarely started messes she couldn't get out of. She didn't care enough about being a hero to ever put herself in danger; Zelda had no reason to look after someone who was quite good at looking after herself. In fact, the majority of remarks shared between Midna and Zelda over the past months had consisted primarily of snooty remarks never taken to heart. She liked to muse that Midna was jealous of her grace, but it was, in fact, Zelda who often wished she could switch off her feelings like Midna could. Things would be so much easier that way. Of course, Zelda would never admit her admiration to her sister. Not yet, anyways. The early riser lifted her bum into the air as she took moist air into a highly satisfying yawn, eyes peeking open to search for any other early birds. Filled with the energy of an ambitious child, she danced over to her brother and sister, wherever they may have slept that night. Zelda chose to sleep near her childhood den, under the stars, where she knew she would be properly alerted if anything were to arise in the night. She tip toed around her siblings eagerly as she waited for them to wake up. She was ready for the day to begin.

Daenerys had grown to look almost like her mother, save for the purple eyes that lay on her face and some of the darker tones she had taken from her father. The she-wolf was growing into a beautiful lupine, that much was for sure. She had dispersed from her mother and father’s den as soon as she could, right along with her other siblings. Although she had not gone far, opting to keep her den close to theirs, but not too close that she could hear them or anyone else in their dens. Violet eyes opened as she looked up towards the entrance of her den, seeing that light was finally starting to filter through and morning was upon them. Not wasting anytime, she stood up, stretching as she did so. Arching her back as she felt some of her aching muscles scream with relief, the young lupine emerged from her den, seeing that almost no one was awake. Almost no one. It seemed that Zelda, one of Ocean and Azaelia’s pups was also awake at this time, waiting for her siblings to rise, just as she was. “Good morning Zelda,” She greeted quietly to the she-wolf as she walked past, heading over to a nearby source of water to take a quick drink, hearing the birds chirping above her. Daenerys looked towards the opposite side of the stream, seeing a small squirrel limping. The creature was injured, and Daenerys couldn’t help but hold pity for it. An injured squirrel was just a waiting meal for a predator. Taking her time, she stalked forward, bolting upon the squirrel before it could run. Its back leg was freshly wounded, meaning that it had probably gotten into a scuffle with a larger bird and managed to escape, or another squirrel had ripped into it. Either way, the little creature was plump, and with a snap of it’s neck, she put it out of its misery. Trotting back to the commons, knowing that she hadn’t made too much noise, she brought herself over to Zelda, offering the squirrel to the other she-wolf as a friendly gesture. Pup Zelda

| | Violet was sleeping soundly in her den. Time felt like it was passing so quickly, with the pups all growing up and becoming adults a little too quickly. Spring was in full bloom, as were the youth of the pack as the Beta watched. The years that she had spent in the pack were the best of her life, and she wouldn’t exchange anything for it. She was getting to watch two generations grow into themselves, thriving in the land that they called home. Jolon had found Lakaiya, an old lover, and they rekindled their love over the birth of their offspring, Sybil and Reko. The third pup who was left unnamed had died within the first few nights, and so Violet had made sure to visit Lakaiya every now and again, checking up on the she-wolf. She had seen how River had taken the loss of her pups. Although they were two vastly different situations, she still didn’t want Lakaiya to think that she was alone in the grieving process. Jolon had been there as well, and Violet had been there for one of her closest friends during his time of grief as well.
But among the one loss, there was something that had changed Violet’s life completely. The introduction of a mate. Although not many wolves knew, save Jolon who she had been the first one to tell, Violet was happily mated to Corvidae. The quirky salutary that she had come to love. She had not started sharing a den with him yet, as their new found mateship was still rather new, and she hadn’t told anyone else about it quite yet. She wanted to do it when she and Corvidae were certain that it was a good time. And with the morning light filtering into her Den, Violet could not think of a better day to do so. Although she wasn’t going to call attention to them, she instead would simply be a bit more affectionate with the male around their packmates. She was sure that Azaelia and Ocean, two of her oldest friends, had already noticed the difference in the she-wolf. But she hadn’t told them quite yet, letting them raise their pups in peace, with a few visits here and there to see the little ones. Although visits were every day considering they lived together. But Beta duties almost always pulled her away. Now that Eureka was finally back to being the Alphess that Violet knew she was, the Beta had a lot less resting on her shoulders.
Pulling herself from her den, lavender eyes immediately searched Corvidae’s den for any sort of movement. It seemed the male was still sleeping. Two of the pups were awake however. Zelda, the she-wolf that was almost the spitting image of her mother, and Daenerys, who looked like a carbon copy of Aelin with just a couple smudges to make a difference. Daenerys had dropped a squirrel in front of Zelda, and she smiled. She was glad to see that no one was starting fights, at least not yet. However, she had noticed that Eureka's children were turning out to be slightly different. But she figured that was just how the pups were growing up. They would get over that phase rather quickly... right?

After the two pups had been born, she and Jolon had decided on names for their pups. One however, had not survived, and passed a couple nights into her stay in Somnus territory. She knew the heavy weight would leave her eventually from losing her third born, but she still felt incredibly sad. But her late pregnancy and how stressful everything had been could have only led to losing at least one. She was just thankful that her son had been able to hear her and Jolon’s voices and feel their love before he was taken from them. Violet had been an extreme help with going through the grief, coming and spending time with Lakaiya almost everyday, talking about things that were happening in the pack while she was nursing the pups, and when they got a bit older and weaned, Violet had volunteered herself to watch them so that her and Jolon could take some time to adventure through the territory, and for Jolon to show her her new home.
The two pups that had survived were name Reko and Sibyl. Reko being the only boy of the litter, and Sibyl being the only girl. They were two perfect pups, Sibyl had her father’s eyes, while Reko had her bronze ones. She was happy to have them as hers, and watch them grow. They had moved out of the den not too long ago, and with the extra space, she was able to comfortably sleep alongside Jolon. Pressing her muzzle underneath his head, she nuzzled into him, pressing her entire body into his as she moved to get more comfortable. It wasn’t too long ago that the pups had left, so she still felt the need to keep herself as small as possible so that they would have the most room. But the huge empty space left a hollow place in the she-wolf’s heart. They were in their own dens not too far away from Jolon and her’s, but it still felt like they were too far apart. She wanted her babies close so that nothing could happen to them. But she knew that being overbearing was the last thing they would need.
“Jolon, love,” She spoke gently, flicking her ear as she finally opened her eyes, pressing her muzzle against his neck and nuzzling. “We should probably get up. And wake Sibyl and Reko,” She spoke, knowing that the mention of their pups would bring the proud father to life once more.

A Z A E L I A Former Somnus Alphess She felt like eyes lay on her differently since the ordeal in the commons. Her body was like an old painting that echoed greatness, but in the crevices and fine details were the implications of a beautiful, aging soul gone mad. She still held grace and dignity in her form, but she had given up trying to convince herself that her sanity wasn't surviving on the threads of her children, and the lines thinned as they began their journey to independence.
When she poked her eyes out of her den, she was pleased to see Zelda and Daenerys getting along. The girl had trouble making friends and building meaningful relationships with her mind focused so intensely on becoming successful and independent. Azaelia fell victim to the same crucial flaw over her lifetime, and became entirely estranged from her siblings for many years, and even let it keep her from being with the love of her life. For the same to happen to Zelda would break the vicarious mother's heart, so the sight of the two children being friendly with each other was a happy sight.
She pulled her body from her den. It was no easy task while trying not to wake the mountainous form of Ocean, but she made it out alive. First in her line of sight was Violet, whose eyes buzzed around the apprentice's den. Azaelia chuckled, quietly so as not to embarrass the beta. She and Corvidae snuck around like children, like Azaelia and Ocean did before they finally announced their mateship. Azaelia's eyes were keen to such things, especially when they regarded the individuals she knew very well.
"Good morning" she sighed to the beta, opting not to make any witty remarks about her and Corvidae. Azaelia didn't know what Violet knew about her mental situation, so the approach did feel somewhat awkward. Leaving her best friend out of something that was making such a huge impact on her life made Azaelia feel inconsiderate, and though it was selfish, she wanted something, someone close to her to remain normal and retain an image of innocence. Living through Violet's developing relationship with Corvidae gave Azaelia something to think about other than her own crumbling life.
Soon, she found herself at a loss of words. She could only close her eyes and be in the presence of Violet and do her best to feel normal. Eventually, she felt her body falling until she was leaning against the beta's side.
"Sorry," she whispered, picking herself back up, and offering a half-assed laugh. "Still sleepy, I guess."

Green eyes opened as Cersei woke from her slumber in her den. She had moved out of her parents den as soon as she was large enough to dig her own, further from her parents and her eldest sisters den, her sleeping spot was close to that of her brother Jaime's, the two had always been inseparable. A soft yawn was brought to her expression, then she decided to climb out of the warm coziness of the den, Stretching as a few sparse rays of sunshine hit her white pelt. Cersei had grown into a beautiful she wolf, her looks closely resembling her mothers more than her fathers, though this was not true for her most of her litter, especially not Arya whom resembled neither paternal parent. Once she had stretched and her pelt was properly free of dirt, Cersei inspected her surroundings, easily spotting her snowy white eldest sibling, she had always been an early riser. She wondered where her partner in crime was, however. Lowering her head somewhat she sauntered her way over to Jaime's den, Sticking her head inside it before grazing his ear with her teeth like she used to as a pup, They would always wrestle and bite each other's ears and tails much to Aelin's dismay, she was always afraid she would find them missing pieces because of the other. Her tail gave a soft wag as she growled playfully at her older brother. "Are you going to wake up some time soon or do you plan to waste the day sleeping?" she sat halfway inside his den and halfway out, her legs tucked neatly beneath her.

- the constant happiness is curiosity -
The new mother had been dreading these coming months since the day she found out she was pregnant. Her trio of bastards grew more independent, and as they began to show signs of their rapid cognitive advance, Eureka recalled her own childhood. She was born eager to please those she respected, but even a heart as pure as hers was not prone to the angsty tendencies introduced at the half-year mark. She had been determined to be as different as possible, daring to trace the borders and the few miles beyond it just so she could taste the air of freedom. It was a time when she needed to get exactly what she wanted as she developed a clouded personal identity. Her own litter would soon be experiencing the same, and Eureka feared the things they might do to get what they want.
"I love you," Eureka whispered as she woke from her first deep slumber in several months, now that the pups were out of her den. Her fleeting dreams left not a single trace of who she may have whispered such words to but the steady beat of her heart as she woke. If it were her children, her heart would have been thumping a little faster, for she feared such sentiments never made it past their ears. If it were a love interest, perhaps the one she had discovered at the mouth of her den each night, her heart would have skipped a beat. But it was as steady as the stream, and she had never been so comforted in saying those words aloud since River drew her dying breath. Eureka knew, then, it was her mother who had reached her in her dreams. Perhaps that is why she had, for once, slept so peacefully.
She was the only parent in the pack without a partner. She came out of her den, and as she looked around her home, she could not feel the slow and deep surge of loneliness at the sight of every child waking in the presence of a mother and father. Having Murdoch to talk to in the mornings filled a piece of her heart, at least.
"Good morning, Murdoch," she began quietly. Many were still asleep. Despite Eureka's own tragic situation, she could not have been prouder to look upon the face of such an honorable pack wolf. In fact, as her eyes scanned her terrain, she truly could feel nothing but love for this family she was graced to lead. It was easy to forget about her pain when she could focus on helping others.
"I have something to request of you," the alphess voiced low and sincerely. "Azaelia's behavior has been concerning myself and the family for some time. I'd like you to sit with her today... see if there's anything you can do for her. It doesn't seem to be a product of age, to me."
Eyes looked out, ensuring there was nobody in audible distance. "And," she breathed. "Perhaps you can examine me today, too." Eyes reached for the salutary again. She had heard seen the bouts of depression that sometimes occurred after mothers gave birth, but none in her experience likened to the severity of Eureka's. Part of Eureka wanted something to be wrong with her so she could identify exactly how to fix it. It was certainly a trait she'd unexpectedly acquired while being partly raised by Azaelia, such a matter-of-fact individual when it came to emotions; of course she never discovered this part of herself until she was forced to rationalize pain.

Vespen had concluded a few things since her time at Somnus. Not all of it bad, mostly good, but there was still bad. She was nervous to admit, even disappointment. First, omega life here was better, more rewarding, and had actual responsibility unlike her family pack back home. She felt needed, wanted, and she was good at what she did. She was finding her place, her home, her life. Each day she woke up she had a job to do, and that was to fill in whenever and wherever they needed an extra body. Second, family here meant everything to everyone. However, so many pups running amock made her nervous. Thankfully, most had grown up to being adolescents, but the months prior had Vespen stressed beyond belief. Not only did she not know how to deal with pups, but she honestly really didn't want to deal with them. She had left her home because of her sister's and mother's decision to have more pups. But still, Vespen endured and would still carry a bright smile with her. Thirdly, and lastly, her mentor's health was declining rapidly. Since Azaelia had been the first to greet her, to welcome her, Vespen had looked up to her with unmeasurable respect and trust. The albino she-wolf enjoyed the ex-alphas company, or at least she had before the pups. And then recently she's noticed she's been distant, and at times starring off into space in a similar way her grandmother had. Or at least, the distant memory of her nana reminded her of Zee. Her grandmother died when she was only 4 months old, and her mother said she had passed away after a rough few months. Vespen vaguely wondered if that was why her father had been distant early on her life. Rolling her head slowly Vespen tried to block those thoughts, no point in thinking of a past that has no place in her future. Still, she starred from her den, towards that of Azaelia's and Ocean's. " Perhaps I can try talking to Ocean today?" she spoke aloud, rose eyes closing once more. It was still early, no need to be up and about. I should try to get more sleep...Azaelia General Ocean

Post by Pup Azrael on Sept 22, 2019 4:36:22 GMT -8
Azrael missed winter. Even though his only real experience with the beautifully chilling season had lasted for a few passing seconds at a time, there was something about the thrilling bite of the icy cold that Azrael had grown to enjoy. His fleeting glances out of the den had been decidedly pleasant as well, the lack of vibrantly disgusting colours being easy on his uninterested gaze, while the void of sound had been more than wonderful on the young ears that preferred the buzzing emptiness that rang through his head compared to the overwhelming chatter of animals. Spring was a horrific juxtaposition to the world he had been born into. Everything was too bright. The itchy grass and the flowers who's pollen clogged his sinuses, the offensive brightness of the sun and the powder blue sky it sat against, the warmth that sometimes brought the disgusting sticky sensation of sweat to his thick black fur, the never ending sounds of birds and squirrels and bugs and pups laughing and playing through the sweetness of it all; everything was horrendously beautiful and Azrael hated all of it. He sat at the mouth of his den, as he did every morning. Agitated optics shifting from one thing to another. His mother. His siblings. His uncle. His cousins. Oh, his cousins, how he despised the very idea of the love they received and the stigma of perfection that surrounded each and every one of them. He was different to them despite their relation. Somnus loved each of their smiling faces, the pack had high hopes for the Alpha's prodigies, everyone looked to them as the next generation of Somnus. But all Azrael received was disturbed looks. He knew that only his mother and his siblings truely loved him, he knew that everyone thought of them as freaky little monsters, especially with the thirst that had begun to glaze over his ruby eyes whenever anyone dared to look in his direction. His throat tightened as he imagined the way their flesh would spilt under his whim, crimson beads of blood blossoming against his tongue in a delicate fashion that he believed would bring more of a thrill compared to simply ripping apart the smaller animals he had to settle for. He would surely lose that love he sought from mother if he ever acted on these hellish desires, that much had been made apparent after he had slowly voiced these ideas to Uriel. Today, he found his haunting gaze resting on the black beauty of Draco and Aelin's much beloved litter. Her golden eyes a glittering sight reflecting her own mother's beauty. These dazzling sights were set upon her siblings, the oddly inseparable duo of Cersei and Jaime. Azrael scrunched up his nose as he watched them, wondering how the pair could stand to be in each others annoying presences. Yet his attention didn't stray far past Arya, his interest bringing him to his paws as he absentmindedly dragged himself towards the young female, his dead gaze unmoving from her figure. A warm breath was hissed through his teeth as he stopped in front of her, his young figure already offering a towering stance. "Arya." The male rasped, his voice resembling that of claws being dragged across granite thanks to the rarity of his vocal use. Azrael honestly wasn't sure what he was expecting out of this interaction, though his eyes couldn't help but drift down towards her throat, towards the place he knew would provide what he craved, a beautiful sight unlike the pathetic display given to him by the vermin he loved to play with. "Wanna play a game?" He knew they were growing to be too old for games, but his stomach flipped at the idea of an absolutely wondrous game for them to play. Even if Arya was smart enough to say no, it would be easy enough to force her into going along with his deranged gimmick.

g e n e r a l • o c e a n a reckless wolf with a selfless interior
His mate had already found someone to occupy herself with by the time Ocean had succumbed to the light shining directly onto his left eyelid. Happy finches were swarming above the commons, making their music and sounding the alarm that would commence all the suspected mayhem of the breaking morning. Although, it was certainly a delightful experience watching Zelda interact cordially with a packmate her own age for once. Perhaps Midna would be close behind.Nah.The interaction on the opposite side of the commons, however, was not as easy on Ocean's eyes. He could see Azaelia attempting to greet Violet, but her head was slowly falling into the beta's shoulder. She was a morning girl, leading Ocean to believe it wasn't a lack of sleep causing her body to fail her. His ears sagged as he looked across the terrain at his mate, whose eyes always held pure energy; they were being tempered, as of late, with a strong undercurrent of nervousness, with a will yet to be outmatched by her fear. It was a battle Ocean was terrified to witness. He would need to distract himself today. He had been planning, for some time, trials for his three children. He needed to see how they worked together in a noncompetitive environment. The general marched up to his son, placing his paws on either side of the pup's snout. He huffed so that his breath formed a crater in Link's fur. "Rise and shine," he resonated deeply with absolutely no inflection in his tone. "Get up. Now." He shot an unforgiving glare at Midna, who was not too far from her brother, that said, without any terms given, you're not off the hook, either. Get your ass over here.
The brute promptly pivoted, flashing his tail above Link's tiny head as an indication to follow. He passed Zelda and waved his chin, giving her no time to actualize his form before his voice reached out to her with utmost urgency, not at all minding the presence of Daenerys. "Don't touch that squirrel. You will earn your own meals today."
Pivoting once more, Ocean beckoned the pup to his side. He would be close enough to Azaelia by the time all of his children were present that he could lean down to whisper in her ear. Delicately. "I'm taking them now. We will be back tomorrow morning, if not sooner." He touched his chin on her head, and left it there until he found the strength to pull away. Nowadays, he was in the dark, never knowing if an embrace, or even a glance at Azaelia, would be his last.
And for the last time, his form shifted direction, this time towards the southern treeline, eyes caressing Violet as he did. He wondered if she felt the same way about Azaelia that Ocean was beginning to. He hoped she did; he wouldn't have to worry about Azaelia being watched over while he was away. He trusted Violet with Azaelia's life.
He continued in the direction of the unclaimed lands until the distance between himself and the commons obscured his figure, and he was no longer on pack territory. He grew nervous as he trekked into the outskirts, reality upon him that his offspring were venturing into their unknown. Few Somnus wolves had ever done so and returned⏤alive.
He didn't fear losing his children, for he knew he could protect them with his survival skills and knowledge of the surrounding territories. He had visions of them in his head⏤visions of strong, independent, and capable young individuals. He only feared that he was asking for far too much than they could give, that he was forcing them to experience something they were not yet ready for. He knew, however, that if they succeeded, he would never have any reason to doubt them again.

she believed she could, so she did "Soske! Get your butt over here!" a small cranium jerked at the familiar name, wide eyes darting suspiciously to her caller. Who would summon her in such a.. nonchalant way? Within the commons sat a pretty she-wolf of ivory coloring, a wagging tail signaling she meant no harm. What in the hell? Soske slowly got to her paws, head lowered shyly as she scampered over. The unknown lupine seemed to be the social butterfly, and while Soske was grateful for the distraction, this wolf had just cause a scene for merely calling her name. Regardless, whether this wolf was an official or not, Soske would be wrong not to come when called.
A tiny wag defined her greeting as she came to stand near the white lupine, an unsure smile creeping at her features. "I'm sure this is a lot for you. If it makes you feel any better, everybody is overwhelmed right now. You're not alone." a bright smile lit up her face, enthusiasm incredibly too strong. Soske couldn't tell if the female was mocking her; she was so hospitable. In such thought, the she-wolf scrunched her brow, averting her gaze to the floor. What was she supposed to say? "My, you look like you've seen a ghost! You alright?" Soske quickly offered a smile to make up for her attitude. "Oh, yes of course!" an awkward chuckle escaped her maw. "There's just a lot on my mind. I can't keep up with the pace Somnus runs at, and I don't know anyone." she continued. Quite frankly, Soske simply didn't have a part in the community yet. She didn't have a role to play, or tasks to do. She didn't have pups to watch or a mate to spoon with. The older she-wolf was desperate for the ball to get rolling.

A black tail flicked behind her, head resting against the ground. Most mornings she would have slept in, but this morning the light seemed to be filtering directly into her den. Letting out an annoyed sigh, she turned her head, trying to move away from the light that wanted to ruin her morning of blissful sleep. It seemed that this would not work, as she finally gave in to the morning’s call and lifted herself out of her den. An annoyed expression on her face as she pulled herself from the den, she looked over towards Link who had also probably made his way out into the commons by now. They would need too since their father had made his appearance in the commons. She had come to lie down in the commons, waiting patiently. As she watched, her father pushed himself into Link’s face, breath forming a crater. She was next to be addressed, and she held herself from rolling her eyes. She was up, what more could he want? Turning her attention towards Zelda, she was chatting with Daenerys, Midna took this as the perfect opportunity to be a little snide towards the other pup. Ocean said they would catch their meals, and Zelda would follow their father. But she approached Daenerys, giving a look at the squirrel. “Zelda always acts too good for others meals, she once told me she would never accept one from you or your littermates too,” She chided, looking to the she-wolf with no emotion held on her face before she trotted off and after her father. She was not fond of catching her own meals, she would much rather someone else do the work. That’s what the hunters were for after all. To hunt for the pack. She hoped that her father wouldn’t put her under someone like that, she was far too smart to be just a plain hunter. She wanted to be something more, but she knew that she had to work for it, and that much, Midna was not honestly for. She would rather be put into a rank that she could define herself. But that wasn’t the way of pack life. So she would follow what her mother and father wanted, and would depart with her father without another word said. Well, there would be a couple remarks sent towards her siblings to try and get a fight to start between the two, but Link and Zelda were hardly ones to fight with the other. The only one she would really get under the skin of, was her father. -Exit- General Ocean Pup Link Pup Zelda

"Good morning Zelda," a voice echoed behind her. Zelda's ornamented cranium took a turn to the left towards her sister, as she was only accustomed to the greetings of her own siblings who so dared to interact with the graceful daughter of the delusional ex-alphess, but somewhere along the way Zelda had forgotten that Midna would rather feast eternally on ants than strain herself with a simple "hello." As a matter of fact, it was Daenerys who had elected to approach the ambient young rose. Taken aback by the unexpected encounter, Zelda's ears fell. She didn't much like the perplexing smile she felt poking at her lips as she stuttered an improvised response. "And to you, Daenerys." She dipped her head politely, perhaps, too politely. By the time her eyes were leveled with the horizon, the alpha's daughter was making friends with the crystalline pond for a refreshing morning's drink. Her mother was the origin of Zelda's greatest strengths and insecurities alike. She was raised to be proper––elegant––simple in appearance, but dangerously complex in the mind. The latter became too apparent in her mother recently, and now Zelda's ambition in success and work was becoming a fearful impulse, so she began to worry. She wanted to be everything her mother was 4 months ago, but if Zelda admired too closely, she feared, she might meet Azaelia's same end to sanity. Of course, this didn't stop Zelda from loving her. She had been taking care of her, talking her through sleepless nights when Father fell slave to the exhaustion of such a task, sharing memories to keep them in tact, always assuring her that everything would be OK, when in fact, Zelda was not so certain it was the truth. Petal-like orbs flailed as she searched for another topic to put to mind when a small creature was placed at her feet, though it was the smell Zelda noticed first. It appeared Daenerys was offering a mark of friendship. "Really? For me? Thank you." The same perplexed smile came across her face, only this time, genuine appreciation shone through. She perceived herself as unliked among the other litters. Her mother was crazy, her father a bit of an asshole, yet both the longest-lived Somnus wolves in the family. They were feared and respected, and Zelda's pride was not easily mistaken. It had earned her some side glances in the past, but perhaps such observations were only her fears being expressed irrationally. That was a genetic token of her father. So, the gesture was appreciated. It was progress, and proof that Zelda wasn't terribly despised. She didn't want to accept the offer, fearing Daenerys was only pitying her lack of companionship with any wolf below the age of four years, but she knew better than to turn down a fresh meal that somebody had provided for the simple pleasure of friendship. Her tail wagged as she leaned with an opening maw, ready to taste her first meal of the day with utter excitement, until an unmistakable voice shattered her appetite. "Don't touch that squirrel." Her tail flopped in disappointment. Why couldn't she accept such a kind gift? She held back a growl, but her father's next words reignited her interest. She will earn her meal today. God, she loved that word. It was like her religion. She looked apologetically to Daenerys. She could rest easy knowing that Daenerys understood, for even the offspring of alphas were subject to Ocean's ruly commands. Zelda, however, didn't stay long to engage in any sort of unnecessary sentiment. She was quick on her feet, like an excited soldier. Today she would prove herself––exactly what she had been waiting for her entire life up to this point. She may even earn herself a rank today. Oh yes, she dashed quickly, with no hesitation. Link was in line. Midna was... talking to Daenerys? Midna never talked to anybody. Unless she was finally over the teen emo angst, she couldn't have been saying anything nice. Zelda elongated her neck and barked across the terrain, snapping like Mother does. "Hey!" But that was all. She was quick to make assumptions, but never to vocalize them. She did, however, give Midna a big, fat, unmasked stink-eye before whipping around proudly in her father's direction, catching up to Link quickly. The trio approached the treeline, passing Mother as they did. She looked... tired. Far more tired than usual. Before completely catching up with Father, who had said his own goodbye's to Mother, Zelda stayed behind for an additional minute. She ran to Azaelia and placed the top of her head into her neck. "I love you Mommy." It was almost impossible to let go, but when she did, floral eyes peered into her mother's own as she smiled warmly at her, the same smile she gave her some weeks ago on the night she left the den. Zelda remembered how she felt being in her parents' presence one night, their warmth and safety, and she remembered how cold and lonely it was leaving the den the next night. All she had to do was peek into Mother's den and catch a glimpse of her unconditionally loving smile, and Zelda didn't feel alone. Not one bit. Mother was there for her even when she wasn't nearby, and Zelda was always comforted by the thought. That's the smile Zelda gave to Azaelia before she left for the treeline.

Sentinel Aelin
Avoir elle est avoir les étoiles
A soft sensation swept itself across her face, the touch being warm and familiar to the she-wolf who slowly pulled herself from the comfort of sleep. White eyelids parted against gleaming golden eyes, squinting against the dancing rays of sunlight that had gathered inside the confines of their den and bathing her and her mate in a warmth best shared. A smile twitched against Aelin's lips as she tilted her head back against the body of Draco, humming a small tune of delight as her heart felt like it was blossoming with love for the first time all over again. "Good morning," she mumbled while shifting against his body, pulling herself upwards so she could plant a small kiss against his muzzle.
It was strange not have their six lovely little children nestled against her belly; a normality that Aelin believed she would never truely cherish compared to that unmatchable feeling of having the accumulated loved shared between her and Draco taken physical shape against her own stomach. However, as her pups had moved away from the comfort of her care, Aelin had been blessed with the chance to watch them grow into the remarkable young wolves they were today. Daenerys was still acting as the head of the litter, while Benjen and Oberyn continued their tag-teaming mischief. Cersei and Jaime seemed to be closer to each other than the rest of their litter, forming a bond that reminded her of the relationship that she had shared with her own brother. Of course, Arya still remained to be her mummy and daddy's precious little girl, the oddball being not at all considered as Aelin's favourite of the litter, but there was no denying that she held a special place for the little girl in her heart.
Another fact the mother couldn't deny was the growing tension that seemed to loom over her and Eureka's estranged litter. It seemed that the Alphess was lovingly blind to the fact that her children were capable of creating chaos wherever they went, and Aelin was honestly beginning to become concerned for the safety of her pups thanks to the disturbing words and deranged looks that were being spoken and carried by such young souls. It made her skin crawl to think of the father that had been able to create this even with the dilution of Eureka's genes and care. But these were things she preferred not to think about, instead, she focused on the development of her own children.
"I'm thinking of taking a few of the pups with me on my patrol this morning. Daenerys, Link, Zelda, Arya, really just whoever wants to tag along and learn." The she-wolf voiced her thoughts as she peeled herself reluctantly away from the warmth of her mate's embrace. "But I guess we have to leave the den before any of that's done," another swipe of her tongue was left against the crown of his head before she shimmied her slim body out of the den, breathing in the sweet smell of pollen-rich air as she watched the pack rise to begin their morning.
