Another howl echoed through the Ferus borders, deep and authoritative. Shale looked up anxiously, and at the sight of the stranger, his eyes widened. “Who’s this?” he whispered to Achak, wondering if perhaps this was the Ferus alpha, if the time had come to see what the future held. No. The wolf who stepped into their little gathering was merely a rogue like the rest of them, but all the same Shale found himself intimidated by the newcomer. He was massive, and powerfully built; he towered over most of the other rogues there, and compared to Shale, who had always been on the small side, he was a giant. This wolf was not someone to take lightly, and his demeanor, proud and confident and even domineering over the rest of them, suggested that he knew it. Shale felt his nervousness beginning to rise again, and he dropped his gaze from the stranger’s piercing violet one, backing up a few paces, not wishing to challenge or in any way come under the notice of this wolf. The stranger glanced over them all coolly, not saying a word, his stance suggesting that he was completely unafraid. He could outmatch any one of them; that much was obvious, both from his sheer size and his attitude. Surprisingly, it was Mira, the dark female whom Shale had originally pegged as the soft, quiet type like himself, who tired of the stranger’s demeanor first. “Oh, just drop it, won’t you?” she growled in frustration, baring her teeth in annoyance. Shale glanced at her, surprised that she had been the one to speak up. It seemed she was bolder than he’d given her credit for. Another new figure made its way over to the group, another large, light-colored male, similar in size to the first one. Shale tensed, half expecting this second stranger to support the first one, but it seemed he’d grown just as tired of the attitude as Mira had, barking a sharp rebuke. I...would never have been able to do that. I hope he knows what he’s getting into. He wanted to speak up, to do something, say something to relieve the tension in the air, but all these sudden new arrivals had him more on edge than he’d been in awhile, and he stayed just where he was beside Achak, glad to at least have one friend he could trust. If this was all Ferus was, arguing and bickering and fighting for dominance, than a wolf like him had no place here. Spiras. The first powerful stranger introduced himself as Spiras, and rather than shying away from the idea of conflict with the second male, announced his readiness for it. Another thing I could never do. How can I ever measure up to wolves like this? One more new arrival: another female, cheerfully announcing that if anyone could take Spiras on, it would be her. Shale doubted that; she was, like himself, on the small side. But at least she was confident, something that he had never achieved. Thankfully, one of the females who had been here when he and Achak first arrived put a stop to any talk of fighting by reminding them all of their place here, of what they hoped to earn- a place in a pack. In the face of all these new arrivals, Shale found himself feeling uncertain as to his own chances of acceptance. What was he compared to powerful fighters like Spiras, or confident, self-assured individuals like the female who had shut down the argument? What would Ferus want with someone like him? Trying his best to force down his rising doubt, he lay down beside Achak and focused on doing the best he could to win a place in this pack. Maybe, just maybe, the Ferus alphas would see something in him that he did not yet see in himself. And if not...well, he’d think about that when the time came. Oooh, potential bitter-sweet friendship?
A reaction was immediate. Diablo almost wanted to smirk as the wolfs fur bristled, a lowly growl rumbling from the strangers chest. His chest rose and fell with excitement as he looked to those bright violet hues, reading the anger in their glare. Compared to Diablo, the male was quite handsome and probably has reason for his cockiness. The brutes only attractive feature were his piercing honey orbs, staring levelly back at his opponent. " Name yourself, I am called Spiras." he commanded, authority still unwavering in his voice. Fluffy ears narrowed in bile against his thick skull, his tail flicking in thought. Who was he, to order everyone around? More importantly, he dare to command Diablo like that. The brute stubbornly remained silent. " If you wish to challenge me, I will gladly take you as my opponent. However, I am against the idea of engaging in battle and sustaining wounds before the alpha arrives," he eventually continued. Interesting. Diablo took a confident step forward, ready to engage and spill blood when another voice chimed in. " Quit it. All of you." his orbs darted to the side, narrowing at they who dare intercept. It seemed, a pup, in fact, thought she was brave enough to face two giants, although Diablo made no move to disapprove yet. Meanwhile, another Mexican bitch gently made her way into the tension with a similar cockiness to Spiras. She could literally be beaten by a coyote, she was so small. Diablo snarled loudly at all the remarks in hopes of achieving silence, eyeing each of the wolves intensively. The male had never approached a pack border before, so he would have to accept that they were right about saving the battle for later. While as an alpha, he would proudly accept the winner of a battle into his pack, he also considered that he wouldn't want a wounded wolf to care for within his ranks. His fur finally settled slightly, attention back to Spiras whom had received no answer from him. " Diablo. Remember that," his baritone voice was just loud enough that everyone could catch his name. The tall brute brushed past Spiras warily, taking a seat on the opposite side of their ugly formation of rogues. As he settled, piercing yellow hues darted toward the pup for a moment. " I'd hold my tongue, next time," he growled as his eyes faced the pack lands. His voice was low enough that only she would hear this remark, but he was serious. Any intelligent wolf would avoid biting off more then they could chew.

Spiras flicked his eyes to the side upon hearing and smelling the arrival of a new wolf, a tiny one who seemed to be no more than a fluffy cloud; and yet, she dared to think that she was powerful enough to even stand a chance against him. The white one with pearlescent eyes spoke up next, seemingly attempting to break Spiras and the other giant apart. She had the gall to insult him, and the brute's teeth bared in response, both his muzzle and brow wrinkling in anger. "I implore you to think before you speak, fools," he growled, addressing them both. The voice of the wolf standing before him brought Spiras's attention back to the honey-eyed wolf. "Diablo. Remember that." As Diablo was heading away to take the seat, he turned back to the creamy white she-wolf, and said something in a low voice. Though Spiras couldn't hear what he said, he could guess that the young teenager was being reprimanded. He looked back to Diablo, a new respect replacing his usually cold gaze. "Diablo," he murmured quietly to himself. "I will." He moved away from the nuisances to sit a few feet beside his possible new friend, wrapping his tail around his legs as he waited for the alpha. @diablo Harley Yrene Shale Mira @achak @ketaki

| Alpha Jay of Ferus
He and his children would waste no time in getting to the borders. The howl had come from the eastern border, one of the more popular ones to say the least. With the lush exterior, it was more desirable than the rest of Ferus’ territory. There had been multiple howls that had come from the borders, but even then he was not prepared for how many wolves he came upon. Four howls had resonated from the borders, but currently there were eight wolves standing in the distance. It wasn’t until he got closer he saw that some were not as friendly towards others. Of course, friendliness wouldn’t get you accepted into the pack, but neither would being a complete asshole right in front of the Alpha. He watched as the male he was currently looking at stood with a dominant position, mimicking that of how an Alpha would act. Ear twitching as his torn one barely moved, Jay’s emerald eyes looked over each wolf that was there, assessing them all as he approached. He had not heard the bickering from the wolves that were there, so as Jay approached, he looked over each and every one of them to assess their stances. A petite female - young like his children - was standing confidently among the wolves at his borders. With the way she was looking at a couple of wolves sitting at the border, he could tell that there was tension. He growled lowly to himself, knowing that tension only made this a whole lot harder for him. The two aggressors? Large males that thought they were tough, when really they weren’t. The other wolves were not his concern right now, but instead these two were. He had not caught any of the conversation between the two, or any of the others for that matter. But the stance that the more feminine looking male spoke volumes to Jay. He was acting dominant at his borders. Jay was not one to tolerate this, not in the slightest. He had caught the tail end of the confrontation as the white male approached the silver brute, almost engaging in battle on Jay’s border. A low growl came from his throat at the thought. A small wolf however, approached, speaking. Jay was a little ways away now, and he had signaled for his children to stop for the time being. Downwind of them, he wanted to see what would happen and if the war veteran had to bolt into action and kick some sense into the he-wolves that were standing at his borders. Her words were amusing to say the least, she had some spunk to her. If he was accepting anyone at the moment, it would definitely be her. Right after her, the younger she-wolf that was around his pups’ age spoke up, her words being wiser than she looked. He was more than likely going to accept her as well. She seemed to know what she was talking about, especially compared to the lumbering idiots of wolves that were currently ready to face off. But alas, a fight didn’t happen at his borders. Instead, they exchanged names and seemed to wait for him to approach, but what the white male said to the yearling who was much more knowledgeable than him grated on Jay’s nerves. That right there was something that pissed him off, and he was going to make sure they knew. “It seems that the yearling has more sense than you,” He spoke as he approached. He had not been far, but the Alpha’s gaze was glaring straight into the yellows of the other. “Starting skirmishes at my borders? Acting like you’re tough shit because you have a superiority complex?” He sneered at the other. “One more stunt like that and you will be dead before you know it,” He snarled, ear flicking as his torn one slightly moved with the gesture as well. He had battle scars, they proved how he had gotten his position, why Thatcher had picked him to be the Beta of Ferus, and the successor of the Alpha title. Emerald eyes shot towards each wolf. Most of them had howled, and there was no point singling out those that did not. What really mattered was the trials he would put them through. Thatcher had done no such thing in his time as Alpha, they had a battle spar which concluded in the death of Silene Noctuna, but that was nothing compared to what Jay was going to put these wolves through. “Tell me,” He said, bringing himself to stand, ear perked, head forward and his posture exuding confidence and dominance. Something he hoped all three of his children were mimicking. “What has brought you to my borders? What is your intention of joining my pack? What rank are you striving for? And don’t give me bullshit answers,” He said, looking over all of them. “If you do you’ll be sent away faster than you came,” His words were sharp and easily heard by every rogue there. If they were honest with him, no matter what their answer, he would hold some resemblance of respect for them. But he knew that in the end, no respect would be earned by him today. Not with how they had acted moments before he had approached. The only two that had so far gained any sort of acceptance from Jay was the little Mexican wolf, and the yearling. The two females would make fine additions to the pack, especially if they held up to how they had acted before. Hopefully they would, he needed wolves with backbones. Ferus warriors had been lacking that after the war with Lubrusca, used to the soft comfort and luxury of being able to lounge about the commons. Even after the attack at the borders, it still had not seem to get through to some that they were indeed Ferus wolves, and needed to act more like that. But today, that would change.

Spiras watched as the Alpha finally approached, immediately impressed by his confidence and dominating aura. A smile twitched at the edges of his lips, and his heart began to beat faster in anticipation. Perhaps this pack was worth joining, after all, with an Alpha such as this. His first move was to reprimand Diablo and Spiras; though the Alpha's cruel wolves made the purple-eyed wolf's tail flick as he did all he could to suppress his anger, his response was simply a bow of his head. He would've added an apology, but the wolf with emerald hues continued speaking before he had a chance to. As he barked out questions, answers immediately formed in Spiras's determined mind. "Tell me," the Alpha demanded sharply. "What has brought you to my borders? What is your intention of joining my pack? What rank are you striving for?" Words of a harsh warning were added afterward, and when he was finished, Spiras rose to his paws to speak first. Though he was taller and presumably older than this Alpha, he dipped his head in respect, his tail hanging in a neutral position, as he answered for himself. He answered each question in turn, his voice like liquid chocolate. "I am here after hearing of your pack by word of mouth. I wish to join a strong family in which I can play a useful part." The next portion of his answer was something he would otherwise think be unwise to say. His only reason for adding it was because of the Alpha's demand to answer truthfully. "I also wish to relish in excitement, and I believe this pack is able to offer me such emotions, which I have so longed for." The rank he strived for could be answered easily; a role that gave him power and an excuse to execute his battle strategies. Still, he knew that the role was most likely unavailable, so he would ask for another just in case. "My ideal role would be the rank of General, though I assume that the position is already taken, so I would be honored to be one of your warriors instead."He backed a few steps away, signaling that his speech was over and another wolf could take their turn. His eyes roamed over the wolves surrounding him, interested in what they would say. He would watch each one carefully as they answered, getting a sense for their personalities.

"Quit it. All of you. If you want to rip into each other, fine, nobody is stopping you, but don't you dare spill blood on borders that don't belong to you. Take it somewhere else, or find some sense. We're not having you idiots ruin our chances with Ferus over something so stupidly inappropriate," the seeming youngest at the borders piped up, sending a clear message that she was a bit of a stick in the mud. At least she had some maturity though. The two giants seemed to be hopeless in that regard. She greeted the paler of the males' growl with an exaggerated eye-roll, baby blue eyes turned away from the rest of the rogues. How boring they all were, not vibing on her level at all. “It seems that the yearling has more sense than you,” an unfamiliar voice coming from within Ferus territory had the tiny mexican on her paws in no time, “Starting skirmishes at my borders? Acting like you're tough shit because you have a superiority complex? One more stunt like that and you will be dead before you know it.” A grin crawled onto Harley's face, unable to be stopped as the Alpha and what appeared to be three of his children approached their borders. It was so obvious that this male was the true Alpha - his posture was earned and justified rather than 'Spiras' simply posing to accomplish... what again? "Tell me, what has brought you to my borders? What is your intention of joining my pack? What rank are you striving for? And don’t give me bullshit answers. If you do you’ll be sent away faster than you came,” he demanded of all eight rogues on his borders, not even giving out his name. Harley could respect that. He was more interested in their business than they were supposed to be in his. Hopefully, she would learn his name soon enough. Before she could speak. the big oaf who had decided to flaunt his lack of maturity at the borders piped up. At last, some sense of humility decided to come over him and he dropped the whole 'I'm the dominant one here' act. With his monologue finished, the tiny she-wolf took a step forward, demonstrating her desire to speak before anyone else could pipe up again. "The name's Harley. Ferus, to me, seems like the place to be in order to get shit done. I want to offer my services to this pack in order to earn a place here. No point in just wanting in without putting in the work. I can hunt, scout, and fight deceivingly well for my size. As for rank, I'm not one to make demands here. Whatever you feel I'll be best in if I can prove myself worthy of entry, I'll be happy with," her voice was steady, her eyes looking towards the Alpha and his children, but never into his eyes. With six more wolves to speak, Harley dipped her head towards the Ferus wolves and returned to her original position, but this time remaining standing. Yrene dared not flinch as the silver brute bared his teeth at her. She merely furrowed her brow like her mother had done whenever she tried to argue a point, it was a simple yet strong move that implied her unwillingness to back down from the larger, older and stronger male. The youngling appreciated the lack of response from the other two, but was more than disappointed with the response from the one who had started it all. "I implore you to think before you speak, fools," a smirk spread itself over her thin lips. It was incredibly amusing for him to be telling her to watch her mouth when he was the one who had instigated everything. "The same could be said for you." Was all she murmured in response, possibly not even loud enough for Spiras to hear—which was probably a good thing. One more prod and she would likely find herself on the sharp end of his teeth. Her opalescent eyes shifted with hues of creamy purples and blues, a hint of pale yellow-green catching the sunlight as she tilted her head upwards to look at the white brute who came to her side. "I'd hold my tongue, next time," his tone was hushed and directed for only her own ears to catch. Yrene couldn't help but snort, amused yet slightly offended by the older male's suggestion. "Worry about yourself, I can hold my own just fine." She replied with whispers equal to his own, but not deigning to match the growl that had accompanied his words. She was too young to be defending herself against stupid males who's bodies were almost as big as their egos, but she wouldn't have to hold them off for much longer, as a new voice entered the scene, ringing with dominance and demanding the attention it deserved. “It seems that the yearling has more sense than you,” her ears twitched and her head swivelled around as she set her gaze on the timber male, his stance held high and built on confidence. This was the true Alpha. The milky colours in her eyes shifted once more as she looked to the three wolves accompanying him, all looking to be around her age. A twitching sway was set into her tail as she noticed this detail, become hopeful that the Alpha would be happy to take in another youngling with such promise and potential. “Starting skirmishes at my borders? Acting like you’re tough shit because you have a superiority complex? One more stunt like that and you will be dead before you know it,” Yrene couldn't resist against the smirk that grew across her face, satisfied to watch these males beat into place by a wolf that would have them killed if they dared to talk back. Justice was sweet. “Tell me, what has brought you to my borders? What is your intention of joining my pack? What rank are you striving for? And don’t give me bullshit answers, if you do you’ll be sent away faster than you came,” the time had finally come for Yrene's chance. It seemed that the Alpha was already interested by her apparent amount of sense, which meant that all she had to do was not absolutely fuck up her response. But it seemed that she would have time to think of her answers, as it was no big surprise when the silver instigator was the first to step up and exchange words with the Alpha, followed closely by the little female that had been the most recent to appear in the group of rogues. As a few seconds of silence passed after the she-wolf's conclusion, Yrene took a step forward, figuring that now would have been a good time for her to speak up. "I am Yrene. I'm young and ambitious, looking for a fresh start where I hope to be able to learn and grow to be a wolf worthy of Ferus' standards. I would happily be the Apprentice of anyone willing to take me on, and...I haven't really decided on what rank I might strive for in the future. I guess I just want to be someone that my pack members can be proud of." The youngling concluded before she stepped back, allowing someone else to take their turn. She couldn't help but look towards the Alpha's children as they stood alongside him, wondering if they would have said anything similar if it were them standing in her position. Yrene had never really valued friendship—no, had never even been given the chance. So she hoped that she would be able to form some kind of supportive bond with the others of her age if the Alpha welcomed her into their ranks. They would be the ones to lead Ferus into the future after all.

Color faded from his face as an unfamiliar scent drifted among them, a scent that demanded silence and utmost respect. A tall timber wolf strutted towards them three pups wandering at his side. It was a sight the brute had never quite seen before, drawing curiosity into his orbs. As something clicked in his head, Diablo realized he should bow his head. It felt completely wrong for him, but the superiority of this Alpha hit him like a wave, forcing his muzzle downward in respect. As his eyes wandered upwards once again, he noticed the pack wolf was glaring at him. " It seems the yearling has more sense than you," his words were like a cutting edge sword, hitting Diablo right were it hurt the most. His skin crawled with mixed emotions as he forced his eyes down in shame. This was so unnatural. He knew he'd feel the smug looks burning into the back of his head at that remark, and oh how he wanted to challenge this alpha. After that, he couldn't even muster the strength to toss a glare in the direction of the pup. Diablo felt humiliated, never having been put lower than another other than from his family. Spiras had received a similar degrading remark, and Diablo notice the male behaved the same. If he served any chance getting into this pack, he would have to learn from the other rogues actions, as he hadn't the slightest clue what he was doing anymore. " Tell me, what has brought you to my borders? What is your intention of joining my pack? What rank are you striving for? And don’t give me bullshit answers," the alpha barked, finally bringing the brute out of his reduced position. This struck another odd cord within him, and Diablo was grateful he wasn't the first to speak. He vaguely listened to Spiras' reply, along with Mexican bitch Harley, though his mind wandered in search of an answer that wasn't bullshit. So, why was he here? He had wandered among the borders for half an hour, so why was he feeling so clueless once approached? As Harley finished, Diablo concluded that his true answer would leave him looking rather exposed. The pup beside him was next to speak, and her innocent tone made him want to snap. When she finally finished, the brute hesitantly looked to the alpha, and then to the others. Diablo sighed. " I need a purpose in life, " he began, looking to the ground in anger, ears flicking nervously. " My mate and pup were slaughtered. I have no means to be around in life, but i'd hope my strength could be put to use first. I've lived my life like a soldier," Diablo finally brought his honey orbs back to the alpha, standing a little straighter. " And from what i've heard, Ferus might be able to utilize something like that. I will accept any rank I earn. My name is Diablo." he finished, casting his gaze away towards the pups nearby. Were these the alpha's pups? Two of them were females, and the brute couldn't help but feel a pang of envy. Maybe if he had brought his family into a pack, his daughter would still be around. He would have loved to teach her how to be strong and fearless, like these pups.

The ebony female tensed as she watched the stranger narrow his purple eyes down upon her. She looked to the others, noting the charcoal he-wolf's nervous stance as the scene unfold. Although slightly fazed by the towering wolf's demeanour, Mira held her furious gaze, ears laying backwards in aggression. Before any of the two could say anything, a new voice cut the rather uncomfortable silence. "Why don't you cut the shit and save it. You don't look like the alpha to me." Yet another wolf had arrived, similar in built and age as the proud he-wolf. The difference, however, was how they behaved. Mira instantly liked the alabaster brute for how he chided the light grey wolf. Now, it was two against one. The tension seemed to escalate by the moment, and a fight seemed to be on its way. Fueled by hatred and wrath, Mira would be absolutely glad to land a few scratches on the annoying figure. However, the need for a battle never did arise. Instead, the he-wolf with his tail lifted simply glared at the newcomer, lashing out what seemed like an order. Mira gathered that he was called 'Spiras'. Even though he was surely a fool to assert his dominance over them, he did have some sense in him as his disinterest in a fight at the borders was apparent. Or maybe it was because he would have to face two wolves. His speech alone wasn't going to make Mira back down, Another new voice joined in the heated conversation, this time coming from a petite female about Mira's size. Hers was filled with glee, accompanied by that cheeky smirk on her face. That was enough to make Mira's intense anger falter a little. Amused, Mira's honey eyes watched her. By her small frame which was similar to Mira herself, the lady didn't seem like a challenging opponent for the Spiras-fella to take on. Nonetheless, Mira loved her spirit. "Quit it. All of you."Mira jerked, stunned that it was the yearling who had spoken up. Ears pricked, Mira listened in as the yearling continued. She was a brave one, despite knowing that the brutes were both older and way powerful than she was. While impressed by her courage and iron-willed voice, Mira was slightly guilty for being part of the 'idiots' she had spoken of. Mira's rage weakened a little as she lowered her head, apologising to the others: "Sorry." It seemed that the teenager's speech did the trick to the both males too, as they both stepped down. Not long after, the real Alpha arrived at the scene, with an authoritative air surrounding him. Behind him, was a few other pack wolves who looked much younger than he was. Excitement, nervousness and guilt all exploded in Mira's tiny heart as his emerald eyes looked over all of them. She pondered over how much he had heard. This was the very moment she had been waiting for ages. It was all happening now. Right now! Nervously, Mira dipped her head in a little respectful bow, acknowledging his arrival. His first words were stern and directed towards the two larger males, although Mira couldn't help but feel partly guilty for being part of it all too. "It seems that the yearling has more sense than you. Starting skirmishes at my borders? Acting like you’re tough shit because you have a superiority complex? One more stunt like that and you will be dead before you know it." From just watching them for awhile, the Alpha was already impressed by the yearling. With such an impulse like hers, would Mira ever stand a chance? Mira expected Spiras to argue back, but instead he let his dominant stance drop before the Alpha. What a fool. Although the Alpha was awed by the yearling, he didn't immediately send the rest away. Instead, the Alpha fired questions in their directions, which Spiras answered first passionately. If they were going in a circle starting from Spiras, Mira was next after the other fluffy, grey female. She sucked in a deep breath, praying that she wouldn't mess up her chance. "Mira," she announced, keeping her voice as steady as she could. "I was brought here by what I've heard about this pack. It has been the greatest wish of mine to be part of a strong, determined family, and I believe Ferus is the definition of that. I'd be more than happy to put my speed and agility into good use. I'd love to be a hunter, or a scout which I can use my small size as an advantage for. Natsu followed his father closely as they came to the borders, his eyes darting over to Aislynn and Iylah. It had been four months since the incident at the borders, and he wondered how they felt, if Aislynn had forgiven herself for what happened to Miyu. Natsu would never be able to forgive himself if that happened, but his sister could be different. He couldn’t tell what was going through either of their heads right now, but he knew that Lynn in particular would use a facade to make sure it seemed like she was the tough wolf she had been since they were younger. Not that it was too long ago. His father halted, and Natsu’s black ears perked as he listened to what his father was. Cobalt and white heterochromatic eyes looked from his father towards the rogue group, being able to hear what was being said. His attention was caught however, on the beautiful she-wolf that spoke up against the two large brutes that were butting heads currently. He was curious what someone so young as her was doing here. He was intrigued, and enamored by how beautiful she was. He would hope his father was impressed with her actions, but he would not know until his father verbally stated so. Finally, after everything that transpired, they approached the wolves, the alpha in his father coming out. If Natsu knew he didn’t have a softer side for his family, he would have been terrified of his one eared father. His words were scathing, and it seemed that the two males reacted differently to his father’s words. The brute that was named Diablo, after giving his answer, was eyeing Natsu’s sisters. A small growl rose at the back of his throat, catching his father’s attention. A flick of his father’s tail told him that he was allowed to say what he wanted. “Keep staring at my sisters and you might lose your eyes,” The male spoke, trying his best to be somewhat like his father. Ferus had no room for soft words, and he knew that. His father didn’t react too much to his words, but with the permission to speak his mind, Natsu was allowed to speak one thing before stepping back and listening to what the others would say. The she-wolf had already spoken, and lost in his thoughts of his father’s words towards the others. But his gaze tried to catch hers, seeing if she would notice him at all. The gray male with the torn ear and emerald eyes seemed to materialize out of nowhere, accompanied by three younger wolves. At the first sound of his proud, imperious voice, Shale flinched, certain now of who this wolf was. Even Spiras had not carried himself with such confidence. This could only be the alpha of Ferus. And he didn’t seem to be concerned with most of the wolves at his borders. His attention was on the two who had nearly broken into a fight, as well as the females who had spoken out against it. Once again Shale wished he had said something, if only to catch the alpha’s eye. He’d always been good at diffusing tensions, but Spiras and the other one had just seemed too threatening. He waited in silence until the alpha finished his scathing admonition and turned to the rest of them, asking the typical questions of a pack alpha to rogues seeking acceptance. Shale remained listening as the others spoke, trying to think like the alpha might. It was obvious that Ferus was not a pack to suffer fools gladly, which was something he didn’t blame them for. This was a family, after all; you had to be careful who you allowed into it. By the time several of the others had said their piece- Spiras first, to no surprise on Shale’s part, followed by three of the females, Harley, Yrene and Mira, and Diablo, the other male who’d been involved in the argument- Shale had formulated his own answer. Arrogance seemed to be one thing that the alpha had no patience for, and Ferus would not want a weakling. If he had any hope whatsoever of making it into this pack, it would lie in being as confident as he could, while also being honest about his skills, and lack of them. He mustered all the courage he had, drawing in a deep breath before he forced himself a few steps forward, meeting the alpha’s gaze as best he could before his eyes flicked down again. “I’m Shale. I came here because I’ve been on my own for too long, and I want to feel like part of a pack again. I need to be part of a family that’s strong and confident and isn’t going to collapse the first time trouble comes its way. From what I’ve heard, that’s Ferus. I didn’t come here because of ambition, and working my way up the hierarchy has never mattered to me. I don’t care about rank. I just want to be a part of something that’s bigger than me, and I want to do whatever I can to earn my place. Obviously that’s not much. I mean, look at me. But whatever I’m asked to do, I’ll give it my best.” He stepped back, letting someone else take their turn. To his surprise, he didn’t feel quite as nervous as he had before. Maybe his answer wasn’t the most impressive one he could have given; maybe he wasn’t the most noticeable wolf out of the ones gathered here. But what he had said was the truth. He’d been honest, and he’d steeled himself as best he could. His voice had been quiet, but not shaky, and all in all he felt as if he’d done as well as he could do to answer the alpha. Now he had only to wait and see what came of it. But even the thought of the wait did not make him as anxious as it usually would have. If he made it into this pack, it would be because the alpha had decided it. And if he didn’t, that too would be out of his control. He’d done his best; if Ferus didn’t want him, he’d accept that fate and move on. Alpha Jay Hunter Natsu @aislynn Scout Iylah Spiras Mira @diablo Harley Yrene @achak @ketaki

Achak sat back listening to everyone else state their piece, he watched everyone carefully trying to gauge the alpha's reaction. Nothing seem to impress him much to Achak's dismay. He stepped up trying to remain collected. "I'm Achak and I have come seeking a home- I suppose" He stifled a chuckle softly. "I don't think I'm striving for a particular rank, just wanna do what I can for the pack. I was on my own for years so I know how to handle myself in both combat and survival, and if you'll have me I'll be whatever you need me to be." He was satisfied with his answer so he stepped back sitting beside Shale once more. He took a moment looking again at their now small circle of wolves, he'd hoped that many of them would get in not being the only new one would help. He waited patiently to see what would occur next.

Ketaki watched as the scene unfolded before her, tensions were on edge and so many wolves in one place, especially those she knew nothing about, made her skin crawl and bile rise in her throat. They disgusted her, fighting over something so petty as respect amongst a group they couldn’t be sure they would ever even see again. The ginger fur that ran the length of her back all the way to her tail began to rise, teeth bared ever-so-slightly as she waited to see what would happen, pupiless, neon green eyes staring down everyone who dared to come near her. Just as she thought the wolves in front of her were about to snap, her ears flicked back towards the border. A proud wolf met her pupiless eyes, Ketaki’s lips uncurled and the fur along her back laid flat once more, she blinked slowly, watching as one-by-one the other wolves, even the two annoying males jockeying for position, ceased to talk. Ketaki sat down slowly, eyeing everyone as they stepped forward, giving their own reasons for being here and what they wished to do with their lives. The first to speak was one of the over-dominant males, Spiras, Ketaki rolled her eyes when he said he wished to be General, almost snorting at the thought of such an arrogant prick thinking he could gain status so easily within an established pack. The next up was the small female, Harley, she had no particular ideas for rank in mind as far as she was concerned, but when she mentioned fighting Ketaki struggled to keep herself from rolling her eyes once more. Then came the she-wolf she had met first, Yrene, she was young indeed, younger than Ketaki had originally thought, only barely making the age for an Apprentice. Next up was the other over-dominant fool, Diablo, his sad story brought no emotions to her face other than annoyance, no one needed a pity party in life, you were given what life threw at you and trying to make it seem so sad was just overall annoying. Mira, the black she-wolf, was next, she didn’t mention fighting which was good, her small stature would be more of hindrance than anything in a fight. The male cub then sent scathing words their way and Ketaki licked her lips to hide the smirk that formed on her muzzle but as quickly as it had appeared it was gone once again. The introductions continued with the anxious male who had appeared first, Shale, he seemed nice enough, but from what Ketaki had heard about Ferus, they most definitely did not value kindness. Next was Achak, humble yet confident, Ketaki gave a respectful nod at his reply to the question and waited for the next wolf to step forward. When no one did Ketaki’s cream colored form made itself known, eyeing the Alpha as she stepped forward, pupiless eyes looking dead at him. “I’m Ketaki, a warrior that’s all I’ve ever been, trained in the craft since I was born. I wish to have somewhere to stay, survival alone is difficult, packs make life easier, but I can pull my weight with ease.” The cream colored she-wolf once more stepped back into the spot she had occupied before, watching the rest of the happenings with feigned disinterest, waiting for the alpha to continue. There had already been an obvious hitch in their plans. The trip itself to the Ferus borders had gone painlessly enough. Oh, Imset and Anubis might have lost their tempers, and Ky might have leashed a whole gospel of curses upon them, but other than that, things had remained fairly civil. Tiny had kept to herself for the most part, only addressing her siblings when spoken too. Varuna might’ve brooded. He hadn’t been paying his litter much mind, wholly focused on the task at hand. The Ferus salutary was large, abysmally so, and would put up an unparalleled fight. To kill an untrained yearling was one thing, but a Ferus male, even a Salutary mainly focused on healing, was another level in itself. He would pose a challenge even for his four; and even if they were to succeed, the noise was sure to draw in some inconvenient outsiders. Skilled as they were, even they couldn’t take on an entire pack. A mission as crucial as this one required a certain level of delicacy — thankfully, one his children were capable of attaining. As long as they moved carefully, and remained observant, they would be able to incorporate the Salutary painlessly. All it took was a matter of finding his vice. Ferus’s border circumstances were simultaneously ideal and not. They were open, free to any and every rouge, which meant entering was simply a matter of waltzing over the border lines. Simpler than they could have hoped for, but nothing ever came without consequence. Ferus wolves littered the border grounds, and even with an open status, a gathering of six organized wolves was sure to arouse suspicions. “Stay clear of the eastern borders,” He stated, opening his mouth to taste the air. “The majority of the rogues and pack wolves are clustered there. Truly a shame,” He remarked candidly, whisking his tail behind him to dust over his own tracks. “We could have recruited some. They might have made fine disciples.” Even in spring, life in Ferus remained faint. Flecks of greenery popped up, more so than the sparseness that autumn yielded, but nothing to be impressed by. A wonder why so many had come. Whatever did Ferus have to offer they did not? Perhaps this was simply a blessing in disguise. With so many here, the heads of Ferus would be well distracted from any chaos that emerged elsewhere. It was an automatic disguise; one that would serve them well. “Move quietly,” He whispered, placing his paws with care as he took a detour into the side brush. “Remember — we’re searching for a black male somewhere around my size. We don’t want him noticing.” There were three scents, Ferus wolves isolated from the rest of the pack; one male, two female. A closer analysis revealed the tang of herbs. Sorrel ears swiveled forward, straining for a slip of voice. Here, the grass grew longer, golden after days of new sun. Sparse trees spotted the flaxen plains. Faint covering, but it’d suffice. The three wolves were positioned due south. Slowly, he slipped low to the earth, assuming a predator’s hunched prowl. If he and his litter maintained this stance, they’d have no problems blending in. Ky contrarily might have, but as long as he stuck to shadows, he’d be alright. After a few minutes’ worth of crawling, they were rewarded with a glimpse of their three, gathered in the clearing. The first was a yearling she-wolf, only a few months younger than his children themselves. The second, a warrior, sporting one eyes and many battle scars — and a bulging belly that would hinder any display of her obvious skill. And then came finally a large black male, exactly the wolf they had all been watching for. The story practically wrote itself. Anyone with half a mind could match the she-wolf’s pregnancy to the male, whose comically masked concern practically oozed from his being. How wonderfully interesting! “An adjustment,” He muttered softly, making sure his litter was paying close attention. “We will be taking a second captive with us.” It was obvious who it would be. The pregnant she-wolf would provide them warriors enough for their troubles — and, if Adjetni willed it so, more followers to come. She’d prove a valuable asset in forcing her mate’s cooperation. A plan was in order. “We’ll start with a hostage.” He stated simply. “Imset, Anubis, sweep the southern borders. Pick your target wisely. Preferably, a wolf both of you would have no trouble dragging back here without ruckus. This needs to be done as quietly as possible. Once you find your target it, prevent it from making any excess noise, through whatever means you may find necessary. Cripple limbs, shred ears; even if you have to rip out the tongue, it’ll be fine. Your captive won’t need a voice where they’re going. Bring them back to us alive, and semi-healthy. And most importantly, move quickly. We don’t have much time." “Varuna,” he shifted his attentions. “Direct your focus towards the eastern border. Make sure no one passes through. If you can’t prevent it, race back here and report exactly how many wolves have made it through. Don’t engage Jay, the Alpha, or any of his superiors. However,” He added slyly. “Jay does have five daughters, all around your age, and Ferus has few non-relative males. I doubt these girls have ever seen a boy their age — if I may say so, Varuna, I’m well inclined to believe they would think you were quite the charmer. Lay it all on thick and make them smile.” He quipped, arching his brow. “You’ve got the talent, don’t you? I’ll send a wolf to fetch you when we’re finished. Let us know if anything tangible arises.” With that, there was just Tiny and Ky to address. “For now, we wait here. Watch and be patient. Our time for action will come soon enough, Adjetni be willing. All we have to do is listen. Our awards will come soon.”Apprentice Imset Apprentice Anubis Apprentice Varuna Beta Ky Salutary Solex Hunter Aspen @miyu

A P P R E N T I C E V A R U N A O F I G N A S I A
Varuna had, for the most and quite truthfully, sulked the entire trip. He barely said a word except when asked a question, and for the most part ignored his litter-mates. Except for Tiny, he would constantly side eye her and watch her carefully like she was the strangest being alive. How can a runt become the largest of the litter? Did Ajetni bless her secretly? Or was the choice of her mentor ship the reason for the blessing? Whatever the reason, he would be glad that she was on his side. Even if she didn't know how to fight, not that he assumed she didn't, but if she didn't just her size alone could do damage.
As the neared the borders though, fresh border markings and rogue scents infiltrated his nose. Some smelt holey disgusting. How can anyone interact with a smelly loner was beyond him. Keeping his mouth closed, his nose would be good enough to smell for the time being. There goal was one wolf, the salutary of this land. A giant that rival's his father's and Tiny's size. The thought of a fight made his blood boil, to relish in the heat of the moment made his mouth water.
“Stay clear of the eastern borders,” his father spoke, Varuna twilting his head to show he was listening. “The majority of the rogues and pack wolves are clustered there. Truly a shame, - We could have recruited some. They might have made fine disciples.” The melancholy in his dad's tone had him wanting to chuckle. He found the seriousness of his father's religion, at times, to be laughable. However, he would never voice this. He knew better and refrained from ever showing any hint of amusement in regards to Ignasia and Adjetni.
“Move quietly, - Remember — we’re searching for a black male somewhere around my size. We don’t want him noticing.” He followed his father to the ground, staying behind him and the twins. His tail tip flicked in eagerness, but as the caught sight of the three a head of them, he willed himself to still his tail. He sunk his claws deep into the dirt, ready to chase forward at a moments notice. However, much to his disappointment that would not be the case.
“We will be taking a second captive with us.” He internally groaned. Wasn't the one giant enough? Now they gotta drag along another, unwilling wolf to the hell known as Mortiul. He just hoped it wasn't another female or he might be sick. He could stomach and agree with some things his packs did, but not the force. Not in the slightest. “We’ll start with a hostage.” Oh, hostage sounds like fun, at least, he looked to his father with eager eyes.
“Imset, Anubis," mother-moose, Adjetni-damnit why must they always get the fun jobs, he growled mentally. "Sweep the southern borders. Pick your target wisely. Preferably, a wolf both of you would have no trouble dragging back here without ruckus. This needs to be done as quietly as possible" blah, blah, blah, Varuna tuned his father out but kept his composure and posture the same. He didn't really need to listen to this, this was for the darling twins. How annoying.
“Varuna,” His mind jolted back to the present at his name. “Direct your focus towards the eastern border. Make sure no one passes through. If you can’t prevent it, race back here and report exactly how many wolves have made it through. Don’t engage Jay, the Alpha, or any of his superiors. However,” Varuna raised an eyebrow at his father. “Jay does have five daughters, all around your age, and Ferus has few non-relative males. I doubt these girls have ever seen a boy their age — if I may say so, Varuna, I’m well inclined to believe they would think you were quite the charmer. Lay it all on thick and make them smile.” Always one to push Varuna closer to his destined rank, to pass down his fire pelt. “You’ve got the talent, don’t you? I’ll send a wolf to fetch you when we’re finished. Let us know if anything tangible arises.” He flicked an ear at that, did that almost sound condescending? Arching an eyebrow, all Varuna did was nod before turning and stalking away.
Once a clear distance away from the others, and their targets, did Varuna come to a full stand. Shaking his pelt out he looked for anything to change his scent. Dust would help, but only partially. Finding whatever, he rubbed himself against it. Finally satisfied he trotted around the eastern border's border.
He did not go any further to visually see the rogue group gathered, nor the pack wolves greeting the rogues. But close enough that if they were to come this way he would be able to smell them. Or at least he hoped so. He also kept a look out for any she-wolves to talk to. Of course, this was all for the orders and he didn't particularly have an interest like that.
Except for Feyre. But Feyre was different. First one to make him feel anything outside of his normal day to day life. Outside of feeling like a monster. That's what he learned by being near Feyre, that he and his family were monsters. She didn't need to say it for him to know, all he had to do was spend one day around her to know this.
