Look at the stars. The great wolves of the past look down on us from those stars.

They were so, so, so adorable. Although they were still in a hazy morning daze, Seven's pups greeted the healer back in response, seeming reluctant to be up from their enjoyable naps. Hoshi gave a little giggle, nodding to acknowledge their greetings. She absolutely adored Makoto and Haruka. How could anyone not fall for how cute they were? "Yes, thank you, Hoshi, We’ll be up shortly.” With that, Hoshi gave a soft smile and a nod, before making her way back to the meal. Upon arriving back at where everyone was gathered at, the Salutary tipped her head in a little polite bow to each of the superiors. When it was her turn, Hoshi digged right into the meal. She tugged at a portion of meat just behind the hind legs of the kill, tearing off a huge chunk of juicy meat. "Delicious," she praised. With her tastebuds quivering in delight, Hoshi lingered on chewing the food, making sure that the taste of fresh doe meat would last in her mouth for a long while. After which, she finally decided to swallow a mouthful. Tamlin was next after her, quietly stepping up to get his bite. The Salutary followed his gaze, watching the conversation between the Warrior and Ater. As Seven and her pups finally came into view, Hoshi felt her smile stretch a little. It was heartwarming - to see the two loveable young ones make their way out, following in their mother's paw steps. Hoshi's ears pricked upon hearing her name mentioned by Seven, who was now introducing herself to the new-fella. While the others all engaged in conversations, Hoshi noticed that Tamlin remained silent throughout, as distant as ever. He was quietly observing the others, as usual. "Something wrong?" Hoshi piped up, asking the Scout in a kind, gentle tone. Warrior Tamlin @seven

When Wren expresses her hopes of them hunting together again, Aili smiles warmly at her. Without hesitation, Aili responds to her question. "Definitely this one. I've taken down big prey before, but this time, I got to make the hunting plan. I felt like I was finally useful for something, like someone might actually finally look at me and see a worthy pack member who earns their spot." She turns her face to look at her friend again. "I hope we can hunt together soon, too. You seem much busier now that you're beta," she says. Realizing she might sound like she is disappointed, she quickly fixes her sentence. "I didn't mean that in a bad way! I'm really glad you are Beta now, you deserve it." she says, smiling. The fact that Wren and her had joined the pack at the same time on the same day and now Aili was watching Wren rise through the ranks seemed crazy to her. The only higher she could go would be to become Alphess, but as far as Aili knew, Wren and Luke had no relationship beyond pack business. Alphess WrenOOC: lol

“I was searching for a purpose, some place I could finally call home and strive towards the goals I’ve set for myself,” replied Ater, as the male listened, smiling softly at the fact she had finally, after all this time, decided to open up to her packmates. “Not as sad as you were thinking huh?” she added, with a certain tone of sass, which the warrior found quite amusing. With a short chuckle, Zack responded to the accusation. "Forgive me if appearences deceive fella, but that grim and cold face ya always carry along suggested otherwise!" he said, clearly enjoying the conversation. "I'm just glad ya decided to open up, I mean, you've been here for a looong while and we kinda never spoke," said Zachariah, trying to remember any previous interaction with the female, or at least the day she had joined Noctis. "What made you do that, though?" Hunting Superior Ater

Silence gave him room to think. To clear his head while simultaneously packing it with thoughts that had little business there. With his meal finished and the hulking yearling distancing himself purposefully from the rest of the pack, his jade eyes watched Luke's two children while his mind whirled. He stared at them with what was obvious deep-rooted emotion, but he couldn't decide which surfaced on his face. He was angry, not at the pups or their parents, but at his mother. Seven seemed to be raising pups just fine within Noctis. Why couldn't his have done the same? He couldn't bear to be angry at his lost siblings though. They had been there for at least a little while before leaving him stranded in Noctis alone. Secondly, he felt envy. Those pups had chances he never had. They had the love of their mother, knowledge of who their father was, and each other. Tamlin had none of that. His mother abandoned them, the Guardian - foolishly he'd believed that Xaeli had truly loved them - leaving the litter soon after they were weaned. One after another, adults let him down. Then came his uncles, both Filtiarn and Conrad-Weller deserting Noctis at the first hint of danger. He couldn't even think of his superiors as father figures, with Luke being a literal father to the only pups in Noctis, and Zero coming to the commons beaten and bleeding to death. Ozmond was more like an uncle - if Tamlin stretched the definition as far as possible. The one wolf that had truly cared had left with the other Beta, some adventure that he could only hope ended better than Lysandra's had. If there was one thing that kept the giant going, it was hoping that Feyre would come back one of the neverending tomorrows. Ater and Seven had comforted him all those months ago, but he wasn't some sniveling pup anymore. With nothing left to lose, what was the point in crying? "Something wrong?" Hoshi's usually hyper voice snapped him out of his thoughts. Quickly, he realized that he'd definitely just been scowling down the pups. Unintentional as it was, he still quickly tossed his gaze over to Luke and Seven to offer a lowered gaze of apology if they had noticed. Turning his head towards the pint-sized Salutary, Tamlin sucked in a heavy sigh. "I'm just reflecting. It's not doing me any good though. The past hasn't been kind," his voice barely had effort behind it, flat and almost lazy sounding as the yearling responded. Looking away, the urge to crawl back into his den was great, but with the day still young, he forced himself to stay in place. His gaze swept over the snow-brushed commons as he waited for the Salutary to respond - if she would at all. Salutary Hoshi Alpha Luke @seven

As usual, the dazed daydreamer hadn't noticed the initial myriads of expressions written all over the alabaster male's snout. Hoshi wished she had though, as she now frowned in confusion when Tamlin bowed apologetically towards Luke and Seven. Then, something clicked. Had he been staring unintentionally at Makoto and Haruka? "I'm just reflecting. It's not doing me any good though. The past hasn't been kind." His tone was calm, way too calm and dull. It was a huge contrast to his desperate wails back months ago when the tragedy stroked. From his lazy reply, it was almost as if nothing else mattered anymore. The healer couldn't quite blame Tamlin for how he acted. 'The past hasn't been kind.". Tamlin had lost both of his siblings when he was young. Hoshi was still new to Noctis at the time his mother had already left Tamlin behind, and some wolves Tamlin had grown close to had disappeared over time. Perhaps now he had lost all trust towards everyone else in the pack, afraid that someday they would all leave him behind too. He had always kept his distance, simply just watching the bustling live in the Commons. The star-pelt lady wondered whether Winter had done something to him too, the chilly weather freezing his joyful heart and crushing his hopes. Hoshi felt the slight guilt entangling in her heart stinging her again, thinking back how she had failed to save Aedion and Zero. Earnest amber eyes tried to search for the emerald ones, but all Tamlin did was stare away into the distance, not daring to look directly back at her. She instantly understood why Tamlin had been gazing at Seven's adorable litter of two, perhaps envious of the life they lead. At the same time, upset about the life he was given. Hoshi shifted her paws on the icy snow, soft crunches heard from beneath them. "Tamlin," Hoshi piped up after a while, looking up at the towering figure. It was hard to imagine he was the same teen burying his head in Aedion's soft pelt months ago, much smaller than Hoshi. "Life is never fair-" she sighed, flicking her Autumn tail to the side. "-for all of us. The past has been kinda rough, but I'm not sure if too much reflecting would do any good. It's best to live the present as it is." Warrior Tamlin
