Post by Scout Azrath on Oct 11, 2019 10:57:20 GMT -8
Azrath padded forth after leaving the muddy pines. The scouting party had picked up a decent amount of hopefuls, and surely Rowan would be pleased. They all had plenty of differences, Taliaia had a temper but meant well, Katsumi only wishes to prove himself despite his wolfdog background, Atlas was demure but definitely seemed to want to be a part of something bigger than himself, and everyone seemed to have something to offer according to Azrath. The massive lupine made his way through the forest, his heavy footfalls leaving imprints in the mud as the rain started to pour from the heavens. Azrath never was too fond of rain, it weighed him down and soaked his fur causing a chill to shake his body, and it didn't help anything. It made things slippery and musky. Disgusting. He looked back behind him, having found himself in the lead once again, he was sure mostly due to the length of his stride. Being big tended to do that to you. The wind pushed and pulled against the trees, bending them in ways he had never imagined possible, and leaves caught the wind, tearing from their branches and flying past him at such a high speed he thought the edges would cut him as they flew past. The water rushed down the slopes that led to Sorelus territory, pooling past his paws and snowy eyes looked up the way it came coming to a halt and waving his tail stiffly to tell his group to as well. Soot colored ears swiveled, it sounded as if he were by the ocean, the waves crashing and flowing, and just there, along the horizon, Azrath saw a wall of water. It raced down towards the scouting party logs of trees that have fallen, muddy with the dirt it picked up and dangerously picking up speed. "MOVE!" Azrath shouted, using his body to push into Simon towards the outcroppings that jutted above them, the highest ground he could see. The brute scrambled atop a smooth topped boulder, reaching down to help the midnight brother below him who kept losing his footing as the ground fell from beneath him before the water caught up to them. The waves crashed into Simon's body, obscuring it from sight almost immediately and Azrath frantically searched the frothing waters for the body of his brother. Alabaster paws swept through the water, reaching desperately into the water, hoping to catch onto soaked ebony fur but none came. "Simon...Simon please don't do this." he pleaded, his voice tightening as he did, the crackle of grief threatening to send him over the edge. "SIMON. Please...please." But his brother didn't hear his pleas. Coughing a sputtering caught Azrath's attention, peeling his eyes from the water in front of him to see two little bodies floating downstream, their little bodies moving so fast he almost couldn't keep up with them, Quinn and Sirius, a few feet apart. "JOY! Get everyone to the commons, everyone save who you can but don't do anything too risky!" Azrath looked back to where Simon was only a few moments before, willing himself to tear his eyes from the water and to jump into the whirling waves to get as close as he could to the little bodies. As Sirius swept past him, Azrath moved to grab him, his little scruff holding onto Sirius as if his life depended on it, using his legs to paddle as hard as he could, pushing off of floating logs and boulders just beneath the water to push himself back to the bank he was on, though now he was a bit down wind from his original position. Front paws grabbed for the bank, the mud breaking away from him under his weight and pulling him back into the water once more. The scout did not give up though, continuing to try to latch onto the earth. Azrath finally caught onto a boulder and used his strength to pull himself and Sirius up onto it, dropping the pup onto the smooth stone breathing heavily but keeping an eye on Quinn. When his strength was regained, Azrath dove in for the pup's brother now, maneuvering the water clumsily as he crashed into a log, knocking the air out of him, but the wolf carried on. When the little brown boy came within reach, the white male stretched his neck, biting the air and water in a desperate attempt to grab Quinn, his heart beating out of his chest, but the pup slipped out of his grasp, sending his head plunging under the rapids once more. Finally, Quinn came into grasp, and Azrath was pushed into another log, resisting the urge to open his mouth in pain for fear of losing Quinn forever to the current. Raspy breath fell from his mouth, his cheeks puffing with the effort to get air in and out of his closed mouth, but he tried none the less. Quinn was heavier than his brother, proving more tiring than Sirius as the pup pulled his head under water too, his lungs burning, screaming for oxygen, he just hoped he could hold on long enough to get them both to safety. Raisa had to be worried about them. Azrath pulled himself and the pup to safety, practically throwing Quinn onto a log just above the rapids, and pulling himself up, stumbling to land and falling onto his side, his breathing heavy and labored. White eyes watched as the water slowed, his eyes staring blankly at the spot Simon had once been standing in, tears forming in his eyes before he stood up again, shook out his pelt and nudged little Quinn along to see Sirius once more, the two brothers together unlike Azrath and Simon. Looking back up the slopes, where the commons resided, though he was sure it didn't look the same anymore, the scout picked up Sirius by the scruff, and began the trek back to his pack, unsure if he really was ready to see what death and destruction the flood had caused. Though, he felt numb to the whole thing. Simon wouldn't be there anyway, he would never hear his brother's snarky comebacks anymore, see his stark black fur against the crowd. His den would be empty. And so would Azrath's heart. @joy Taliaia Katsumi Breezy @atlas Kidah Tempest Valeria Priroda

The exuberance that lit up the pups' faces in delight to hear her story. Just that idea that she could bring them such joy and vivid imagination was enough, but to top it off, the name 'Grandma' warmed the cockles of her ageing heart. Not having pups of her own, yet having Raisa's children calling her Grandma - it was a gift that she never could have expected to be blessed with. As the pups peppered her with questions, Griz chuckled, quickly replying that the bison was hunted far east from Sorelus, and that thankfully no one was "smooshed" as Quinn put it. Two tragedies seemed to strike at once, shattering the simple peace between the two oldest and two youngest members of Sorelus. Moose dragged Edon's body into the commons, terribly injured. Just seconds later, Moose's voice rang through the commons, panicked, as the sound of rushing water drowned her senses. Grizelda hadn't been through a flood personally before, but she knew that she likely wouldn't be able to tell Raisa's future pups about any time she did. Her thoughts turned to her mate, and how valuable he was to Sorelus. Even if she probably wouldn't make it out, he needed to. The elderly she-wolf shoved her oddly-marked shoulder into her mate, pushing him up towards higher ground as the torrents of water began to trickle past her paws. The two were slow-moving, but the arrival of Raisa made their progress quicken as more and more water threatened to sweep her paws out from under her. On the overdue she-wolf's instructions, Grizelda laboured towards the rocky outcrop that would offer protection for those who would make it up the incline. By the time the struggling party made it to the rocks, the water had practically claimed her. Only the tips of blunt claws held her in place for a few more moments as she helped push her mate up the rocks. "I love you," her last words slipped out of her mouth with uncharacteristic speed as the water's cold, cruel embrace swept her into its arms and carried her into her next life. Beta WingnutIf I Don't Understand, You are the one at fault The commons were as uneventful as she expected. There was a distinct lack of hustle and bustle until the hunting parties shattered the silence upon their return. The cluster of wolves around the medicine den was not joined by Wingnut, as she moved towards her den. The scratch wound above her eye still throbbed slightly, but it was never anything requiring further medical treatment than the poultice applied to it already.
Rushing water caught her ears. Sorelus' river had become such a background noise that it's presence within her ears once more could only mean that it was a problem. Moose's call to action brought the Beta to her paws at speed, already moving towards the medicine den to protect the most vulnerable members of Sorelus. The rain pelting down on her was nothing new, but the water slowly rising past her paws alerted her to the dangers surrounding her.
The water swept Edon's battered body away from the den before Wingnut's jaws could grasp his scruff. In an instant, the Beta was chasing his body through the rising water, eyes fixed firmly on his path and the obstacles that his body hit as he weakly paddled through the flood waters. For a brief moment, his head slipped under the tides and the cinnamon she-wolf dove towards him. Latching on to his scruff, she hauled his head above water, struggling to stay afloat especially because she was lighter than the incapacitated hunter.
For once, the Beta was overwhelmed by her task. Edon was a dead-weight, the water threatened to consume her, and the beautiful forests of Sorelus' mountain home had become her assailants. Each trunk slammed into her lithe frame, knocking what little breath she could gasp in through Edon's fur out of her entirely. The final collision, a massive trunk meeting her head-on, knocked Edon from her grasp and sent her vision spiraling into darkness as water consumed her.

The now-healing wound on his back made it difficult for the male to continue on as minutes grew to hours of traveling. At first, the journey was easy, and Katsumi proudly found his way closer to the front of the pack, however his back was very sore now, and he bit his tongue not to request a break. On top of that, the brute had never experienced the thin air of the mountains, still a bit cold within his lungs despite the season. Regardless, the territory was beautiful, well chosen for strong wolves to reside within. It was obvious why Sorelus wolves had retrieved them from the Muddy Pines, now.
A sudden wave of Azrath's tail signaled Katsu out of his thoughts, only finally noticing the odd rumbling that murmured beneath his paws. His ears swiveled forward just as the water began trickling between his toes, finding a wall of ugly, unwelcoming water rushing to swallow them. Katsumi had never seen something so unreal, and found himself lagging to snap to a reaction. The water quickly rose up his legs, twigs and other debris swirling past the hybrid. Finally, honey orbs shot to find Breezy's form. Behind her he located a scraggly looking pine tree, with branches bare enough to find a paw hold, perhaps strong enough to withstand the flood. It was a risk Katsu was willing to take, nudging his friend toward the tree before bounding forward. He was first to leap into the tangled branched, securing his grip before looking to find Breezy's form. She was far smaller than himself, so if she required help getting up he would quickly grab her scruff and lift with all his strength. As the water finally rose to its peak height, the brute found himself merely hanging on for dear life, the current far stronger than he imagined. His fawn colored legs were drowned within the flood, and at times the tree creaked and threatened to give way.
Meanwhile, Katsumi also awaited instruction from Joy, who was now in charge. Perhaps she knew how to handle these situations better. It was evident that some unknowns had gotten taken by the current, and he would perhaps never meet them now. He looked to Breezy, hoping she was alright. "Just a little longer," his voice remained calm.

S C O U T H Y E - S U O F S O R E L U S
They do say "when it rains, it pours," and it sure was pouring. Hye-Su could barely see a thing through the downpour, the rain that dripped into her eyes she feverently blinked to clear her vision. She could hear the slosh of others moving through the muddied ground. She wondered if her den was gonna be soaked, she hadn't planned it very well. It was the base of a hill instead of towards the top. While Hye-Su worried about having a dry place to sleep, the flood had already started.
Coming to stand under a tree, this provided enough protection from the rain for her to clearly see the valley. That water was beginning to rise, and within moments Hye-Su started to see the flash flood occur. Ears perked in concern as she looked to the party that had chosen a direct path towards camp, where they became susceptible to the quickly rising currents and fast undertoes of the river.
Adrenaline spiked through her veins and this is just what she needed to forget about the gash in her flank and thigh. At first the stinging bothered her, and then she saw Valencia get swept under. She saw several more fall underneath the surface and she bit hard as she forced herself forward faster. Only Valencia stayed above the surface, her screams and pleas driving Hye-Su forward. Faster had never been chanted more inside her head.
Thankfully, Val found a place to hold herself, but that didn't meant it would last long. Thinking quickly, Hye-Su saw her chance. Further down, there was several trees that was staying up against the odds and force of the river. The placement wasn't too far from where Val clutched for life at, and not too far from a jump and a quick swim if she angled herself right. Without much to go on and desperate to help save her packmates, Hye-Su continued at full sprint and threw herself off the hill that was overlooking this part of the valley.
The ice cold water hit her like bricks, she gasped and for a moment her body was twisted to and about. As her head hit the surface and she forced herself to find where she was at, she was coming quickly face to face with a tree. The trees she was aiming for. She couldn't control the speed and as her body connected, she felt something break. Letting out a small scream, she clung for her own life now on the trunk.
Rapid gasps left her lips as she hoisted herself around the tree, onto some limbs. The other trees and the limbs that still offered protection and enough support to keep her stable. She just hoped the water wouldn't rise hire, or the branches at the top wouldn't support their weight. Looking to where Valencia was, she called out.
"VALENCIA!" If the she-wolf looked over, "TRUST ME, PUSH OFF TOWARDS ME, I'LL GRAB YOU."

Although Tempest was annoyed with the pouring rain, she did not show a single sign of it. She was walking with the rest of the group, with each step getting closer the Pack grounds. Suddenly a loud roaring sound filled her ears and she looked at the direction the sound was coming from. "MOVE!" Yelled the scout wolf, Azrath. A wave of water was rushing towards the wolves at an incredible speed, pushing apart trees and making indents in the earth. She widened her eyes, but no in fear. It was all unexpected, yes, but she was also determined to not drown in the water. She had some experience of swimming before, but she wasn't the best swimmer. She tried not to panic and tried her best to remember what do to in floods. Seek higher ground as soon as possible. The idea was good, but not enough time was given to the she-wolf to accomplish her current goal. The water crashed into her body like a brick. She winced at the impact and quickly rose up to the surface, taking a deep breath. She heard Azrath yell to another wolf "JOY! Get everyone to the commons, everyone save who you can but don't do anything too risky!" The black she-wolf tried to paddle to some land and reached only a small area of dirt, not fully covered by the water. Her claws dug into the wet soil and pushed her mass onto the patch of land. She took a small pause to breathe and began to look around, the wolves who were in the group with her were either in the water trying to stay alive or on land trying to help the ones in the water. Tempest looked around, trying to find a way to perhaps help the other animals. She saw a tree, that seemed to be getting pushed around by the water, holding to the wet ground only by a few roots. 'Maybe I could push it over? It would be very risky, and I could get swept away but the current'. It looked like the cons out-weighted the pros so she decided to stay on her little island. The she-wolf shook out the water from her fur and looked down at her paws, making sure no injuries occurred in the water. To her dismay, a large wound ran from her shoulder blade down her right paw, it wasn't too painful, but it was bleeding a lot. She began to lick her wounds but it didn't seem to do any good. The blood was no slowly dripping down her coal coloured fur, then onto the brown earth, making its way to the gushing water. The rain was still pouring, the water was roaring and the sound of wolves yelling for each other was starting to annoy the female. She knew that it would sound mean to say it, she knew no everyone was lucky like her and managed to survive this disaster, some possibly even died. But Tempest lived by a rule made by her younger self when she got kicked out her pack, ' Save yourself, care for yourself, before anyone else.' She stuck to that rule for some time, not sure if it was the best rule, but it sure did save her life a countless number of times.

Breezy panted hard as she struggled to keep up with Katsumi, but no way was she going to complain. She thought about all the good things, how she had friends, and now a chance at a new pack. All her thinking distracted her from what was happening around her. Water rose, sloshing at her legs. Her instincts kicked her into panic mode and she struggled to keep it contained. Breezy let out a yelp and the water knocked her off her feet, but she felt the nudge of Katsumi and that's all she needed. She swam to the tree and watched as Katsumi heaved himself onto the tree. Breezy got a foothold and heaved herself up. Just as her right backfoot found the tree she slipped. She yelped and her hind legs were swept into the water. Her jaws found a branch and she pit down, holding on for her life depended on it. Breezy looked to Katsumi with wide eyes, hoping he would save her. She closed her eyes, not wanting to see what would happen as she felt her hold loosen. Katsumi Scout Azrath @everyoneelse

The old wolf watched as Moose carried his friend into the commons, a smile on his maw as he listened to the two bicker and as Sirius ran up to "help" with Edon's tail. The mexican wolf was dropped in front of him, and he listened to the praise Moose spoke of his mate, stating how she saved Edon's life, and of that, he had no doubt. His apprentice was more than capable whether she believed it or not, he knew his teachings had stuck in her mind and when he would come to pass, he knew she would be the best replacement there was. The cobwebs packed into Edon’s ear and belly had most definitely stalled the bleeding that seeped slightly through the ivory ick that grasped onto his fur like it's life depended on it. Gently, Cecil pawed at the cobwebs, moving them aside to assess the damage the cougar had caused, quite literally tearing the ear from the wolf's head and slicing through the fascia that protected the wolf's innards. The hunter was in for some severe bed rest. Valencia had done more than enough triaging and patching him up in a jiffy with limited herbs he had bundled up for her and pride swelled in the old wolf’s heart, it was as if his own daughter was excelling with his teachings. She had always been the best choice for his apprentice, having a knack for knowledge and a willingness to prove herself. Cecil had been more than occupied with Edon's wounds to realize that the water pooling around his legs was unnatural, nor to hear the panicked yells that emitted from Moose’s maw as he, the biggest hunter they had, had been swept right off his paws and was carried effortlessly down stream. It wasn't until he had been ushered out of the way by Raisa and his mate that he realized that the water was rising rapidly and he tried to free himself from the bodies that were pushing him towards higher ground, twisting his head to look back at Edon who no doubt would drown. "He doesn't have enough strength, someone help Edon!" Even though the biggest of them all, Moose, had been swept away as if he were nothing, Cecil had to try to be an advocate for those wounded and unable to fend for themselves and Cecil was willing to jump into the roaring waters to save the hunter from his demise. What kind of Salutary was he to leave the weak and feeble behind, as weak and feeble as he was as well? His heart ached as he watched Sirius and Quinn be swept out from their mother's grasp, the pregnant she-wolf having been unable to firmly grasp Quinn's scruff and too slow to get him just before he was swept down river. Then the limp body of Edon was swept after them, the current dragging him under as he attempted to paddle to stay above the water. Finally, the Salutary was forced to face forward as Raisa helped him to climb to higher ground, his paws slicking with mud and slipping, the ground giving way to his weight. He pulled himself up to the bank, his claws sinking into the muck and his back legs, with the help of the guardian behind him, pushed him to safety. Out of breath, all he wanted to do was sit and breathe, but he knew others depended on him for help, Raisa was not only carrying he weight but the weight of her pups as well and he grabbed onto her scruff and pulled much to his joint's chargerin, they screamed in agony as he helped the she-wolf to the top and rushed to help his lover. The Salutary hobbled over, Grizelda's "I love you" being swallowed by the bubbling, churning, raging rapids that swallowed her up and swept her away without a care for her life. Cecil's throat felt as if it collapsed in on itself, his breath hitching as he refrained the urge to jump back into the water to save his salt and peppered lover. The male’s heart reached out for her, begging her to pop up above the water and to swim effortlessly back to the bank to be with him once more, they hadn’t had long together, their love had only just started, they’d still had so much to learn about one another, had memories to make, had experiences to discover. And all of that was washed away with one muddy wave. A sob fell from Cecil’s maw as his gilded eyes looked into the water, the gurgling tendrils of water taking his heart, wrapping it up and squeezing the life from it. “Cecil, they’re coming!” Moments ticked by and he couldn’t bear to tear his eyes from the water, but he forced himself to, his love’s voice in his head, encouraging him to carry on. He knew he would see her again soon when his time came and he almost wished his time was now. But Raisa needed his help. So the salutary braced himself again the she-wolf’s heaving side as she contracted, instructing her to lay down and let nature take its course as he looked for a stick for her to bite on. Amber eyes fell on one not too far from them, the wind had blown from the trees that bent and swayed with the rampaging storm. He grabbed it, offering it to the birthing female to clamp down on as the pain ebbed and flowed before finding his way to her side, draping his tail across her in an attempt to comfort her as he looked up to the sky, droplets of water streaming down his soaking fur and rolling down his muzzle. The tears that spilled over his lids hidden by the small streams the rain created and he sobbed, the loss of Grizelda heavy on his heart. He had failed her, had been too weak, too frail, too old. And she lost her life because of it. Guardian Raisa

Aurora tried her best to keep up with the group but her small size didnt help her very much. She could only just make out the kind wolf that had a difficult name for her to pronounce. The rain had washed the black and sticky mud from her coat somewhat and she hated her striped appearance from the dirt streaks. She looked at the area around her taking note that this might very well be her home now. Her head popped up when a loud swooshing noise sounded. She looked around and saw an ocean coming towards her and she froze in terror. " Mom?" She said to the oncoming rush and looked at the others sadly knowing she would never make it to safety, she was just too small and far away. She closed her eyes and opened them taking everything in. Then desperately flung herself at a tree as the water hit her full force. The water pinned her to the tree and covered her head making breathing impossible. Panicking for air she clawed the tree and dragged herself along it's sturdy trunk until her head broke the surface and she began coughing the water out of her throat. Her small body became snagged in the branches of the tree and she realized she would be okay as long at the tree didnt fall. She then began to cry angrily. Why didnt she just die? She deserved to. She bit her own tail in frustration. Why did she think she deserved a home when death was the true sentence that she had earned. She saw many wolves go under the water that rushed around her and felt helpless. Filled with an internal rage she shouted at the sky. "Just take me if you are gonna kill someone! Take me!" Then light blinded her vision and she crashed back into the foaming water wondering if maybe, this time, the sky had listened. Scout Azrath Tempest Breezy Katsumi

Alpha Rowan
It is our mind that chains us or sets us free
Mother Nature was a cruel mistress. Beautiful, but incredibly unforgiving while taking back the life she had given. Rowan had been making his way directly towards his den as soon as they had returned to the Commons, looking to seek shelter from the relentless downpour that had soaked him to the core, hoping that he would be able to curl around his beloved Raisa and their cherished pups, a bundle of warmth in which they could snooze through the battering rain and thrashing winds.
A thunderous crashing had caught his ears as he grew closer to his den, his single eye growing wide as he looked up to watch the banks of the nearby river crumble away against the torrent of water that had washed down from upstream, sending a cascading torrent straight towards the heart of their once peaceful Commons Grounds.
It was moments like this that left the crippled male feeling truely helpless. He was the Alpha of Sorelus, a figure meant to protect and help his wolves when they needed him most. Yet as the water crashed through their home, he could do nothing but yelp as the water knocked him off his feet, his mangled hind-leg screaming in pain against the sudden hit that sent an almost blinding surge of agony through his body. Rowan gasped for air as he kicked through the spike of adrenaline, keeping his head above water for long enough to watch his wolves be swept away, yet two faces caught his eye and struck him with true terror. "Quinn! Sirius!" He bellowed frantically through mouthfuls of water, choking as he struggled to find the strength to keep himself above the waters surface.
But he could do nothing to help his sons. The water overpowered his helpless body and sent him washing down through the valley of Sorelus. Rowan collided with trees and boulders, jostling his hind-leg well enough to pop it out of it's delicate socket long before he was able to push his head above water again and scream in pain, while seeing familiar faces being washed away in the water's deadly grip. Through this glimpse he caught no sight of his sons, and terror surged through him as he realised he had not seen Raisa since returning to the Commons.
How many young lives would they loose to this catastrophe? How many helpless bodies would be strewn throughout their paradise, lost to the currents and their icy grip. Would his own children be among those bodies? His mate?
With the overwhelming amount of grief and panic taking over his body with these thoughts, Rowan had lost himself in the water, almost forgetting about the searing pain shooting through his back leg with every frantic kick, until his body finally collided with a fallen tree, his entire being rattling as he winced through the impact. Rowan clawed at the tree with a pathetic amount of desperation, groaning as he pulled himself towards the bank of high ground from which the trunk had fallen. With his energy drained, his lungs full of water and his leg sending shooting pains up through his body, Rowan let out a ragged gasp as he dropped his trembling figure on the muddy shore, his entire body falling limp as he grew satisfied with his own safety, yet numb as he feared the safety of his wolves, his pups, his pregnant mate.
So many lived depended on him, looked to him for guidance, yet here he was, sprawled in the mud, his body rendered useless, incapable of moving. Rowan cried out in agony and fear, hating the fact that all he could do was lay there, not even strong enough to writhe in pain as he prayed to Mother Nature, begging her to keep his family and his pack safe.

The rain didn’t seem to want to let up as Kodiak followed her hunting group back to the commons, she had half a brain to just hide in her den from the rain the rest of the day, at least then the rain wouldn’t muck up her pelt she kept so pristinely. This thought did not remain in her mind very long however as her thoughts drifted back to Edon, watching as his blood stained, rain heavy pelt disappeared into Cecil’s medicine den. Her eyes moved to watch as Sirius and Quinn listened to Grizelda tell a story, their eyes full of wonder. When Edon was well she often thought about one day having pups with him, him telling them stories like Grizelda was telling Rowans sons. Now she wondered if those thoughts would ever come to be, or if he would give into his injuries and cross that bridge without her. The thought nearly drilled her heart as she felt an ashes reside in her chest where she had once felt its steady beating. A scared yell from Moose jerked her head up from where it had been hung down in a sad grimace, the sound of rushing water overtook her senses and before she could react she was surrounded by murky, strong, cold water. The current easily swept the honey brown female off her feet and swallowed her beneath its surface, knocking her against a tree and a rock before she could find the strength to paddle, pushing her head above water she gave a gasp as she looked around, there was only one name she could utter to say, ”Edon!!!” but she knew he would not come.

Grizelda's story was all so interesting to the small and colorful mind of the pup as his blue eyes looked up at her As Moose's large form left the medicine den after talking to Cecil, Quinn's eyes watched the hunter and wondered if his mom had the same color pelt he did, or if he was just the odd pup out, he was so bright and fiery. He seemed distracted by his thoughts until he heard a yell once the hunter had dissipated from sight, his mothers name, what was going on? It was then his entire equilibrium was thrown off as murky, cold water engulfed his entire being, the sheer shock of the cold as well as the force knocking the wind out of him as he was swept away in a massive current, spinning as his legs kicked in an effort to keep him alive he had no idea which side was up as his lungs began to burn for oxygen. 'What is happening? Im scared, where is my mom?' were the thoughts that swirled in the pups head as his head then broke the surface, a loud gasp erupting from him only for him to cry out loudly for help, he was surrounded by brown murkiness that crashed and broke nearly everything in its path, tree branches bobbling up and down in the rapids as the sounds of snapping and screaming surrounded him, he had never been this scared in his short time of living. His legs felt numb as they continues to feebly paddle, then his head went under again and he feared he would never resurface, tired, he was tired. It was in the second that his little body seemed to give up that the feeling of pinching on his scruff rouse him, his blue eyes wide with fear as he attempted to see who had grabbed him only to bob in the water a short while longer until the wolf seemed to catch his footing and toss him up over a log, with a thud Quinn's small lungs contracted so he could cough up the water that had been suffocating him, his limbs numb from trying to fight the overwhelming strength of the current, he just lay there on the ground until Azrath came into view, he had saved him. He attempted to speak but his throat burned and his ribs hurt, everything hurt, he stayed sprawled out there, savoring the fact that the ground was not moving anymore. "T-t-thank you Az-Azrath." the pup shivered as he then realized his brother had been saved as well, he could take solace in the fact that this flood had not orphaned him and the scouts diligence had saved both of them. As Azrath picked his brother up by the scruff and began walking back, Quinns small legs struggled to stand up, he had never been this tired before and only now did he realize his heart had stopped racing. He followed after the scout the best he could, coughing softly along the way.

Sweet oxygen filled her burning lungs as Valencia found the surface of the water once more, her front legs having wrapped themselves around a swaying branch that hang precariously from a tree that was slowly sinking into the flood. Her heart thundered in her chest as she took the chance to look around, seeing a rise of safe land not far from where she was clinging on for dear life, her grip growing weaker and weaker with every passing second as the rushing currents pulled at her tiny figure. Tears sprang to her eyes as the panic began to settle in, her breathing growing rapid. The life that she had made for herself here in this beautiful pack was literally being washed away. Her home, her mate, her friends, all of it was in a delicate balance and she was completely unaware of anyone's safety. The last time she had seen Moose he was being swept away in the same current she had been struggling through, for all she knew he had probably drowned by now. Cecil was also unaccounted for, and Grizelda. The elder pair surely stood no chance against something like this, she feared for them the most. Rowan was also a prime candidate to be taken by these rising waters. The male could barely walk properly let alone swim, he relied on anti-inflammatory and painkilling herbs almost every morning just to be able to function at the hobbling pace he had adopted, there was almost no hope for their Alpha. But the pups...oh god the pups. Raisa was pregnant and her children were only just beginning to explore outside the den. Valencia imagined that even if the little ones did survive this horror they would surely escape with deeply ingrained fear of bodies of water. The she-wolf cried out as all these thoughts overwhelmed her, even as she was still stuck on the idea of her own mate being dead. Next thing she knew, she heard her name being screamed above the echo of the roaring water. Valencia blinked away her tears as she looked towards the voice, relief washing over her as she lay eyes on none other than Hye-Su. "TRUST ME, PUSH OFF TOWARDS ME, I'LL GRAB YOU." The she-wolf balked at the idea of releasing the branch in which she had found safety, yet a sudden jolt and crackling sound from its joint at the trunk forced her into action. If she stayed any longer she would be swept out of Hye-Su's grasp. All she could do was push off with blind trust as she was sent careening towards the younger she-wolf. Valencia kicked desperately at the water, trying to keep herself afloat long enough for Hye-Su to be able to grab her, but the weight of her thick coat was of no help, and she could only close her eyes and pray that the she-wolf would be able to act as the water slowly swallowed her body once more.

Pain, confusion. determination and maybe a tiny bit of fear is what Tempest was feeling right now. Without stopping, her fresh wound was bleeding, staining her coal-coloured fur with crimson blood. The water was still roaring in her ears, now slowing down just a bit. She was still standing, more like crouching on a piece of land, which was beginning to get taken apart by the water. Turning her head to the right and left, she saw wolves hanging on to rocks for dear life, a few unfortunately not making it. Tempest slightly dipped her head, acknowledging of the wolves who lost their lives to this..to this disaster. She resumed licking her wound while also using her talons to grip the dirt as hard as she can to avoid getting swept away by the current.

The overwhelming cold was all Moose was surrounded by as he tried desperately to fight against the current. He had never felt something so strong in his entire life, something so powerful it had lifted him off his paws like he weighed as much as a pup; then off he went, entirely engulfed and lost beneath the roaring waves. By pure instinct he continued to kick his legs, trying desperately to reach the surface as his lungs burned, screaming their way into his head as they needed air, he needed air, he had to find the surface soon. For a brief second he felt his nose breach something, the surface. Having found it Moose continued to kick up, colliding with a rock he felt a stinging sensation settle in his right side as he continued to barrel through the water, finally coming up to the surface with enough time to look around as he continued to be brought along the current. A small distance away he saw a bank, just high enough to be out of the current and with enough force he could reach it, catching anyone else who was behind him in the current. Gathering what strength he had left moose did his best to swim sideways to the bank, nails digging into the rock and dirt as he pulled himself up out of the water, nearly slipping back into the flood waters as some of the ground gave way beneath his weight, his heart raced in his chest, thundering against his ribs as he contemplated the fact that he may die in these waters, his pack mates may die in these waters. A sharp ache settled in his chest as he thought about Valencia, she had to be safe, such a beautiful soul could not be taken by such an ugly disaster. He hacked as the water in his lungs forced its way out to make room for more air as he struggled to catch his breath. Gasping breaths near him drew his amber gaze from the muddy shore beneath his feet, finding the crumpled body of Rowan, more than thankful his Alpha had not been claimed by the treacherous waters. Taking a deep breath, Moose pushed himself forward until he met Rowan, glad to see he was still breathing, he looked back at the steadily churning waters, fearing they would rise. "Come on, we need to get to higher ground." Moose did suggested as he did not wait for the ok, gently taking Rowan's scruff in his mouth he knew the male was probably in pain both mentally and physically but he couldn't let him die here, not if he could help it. The Mud and grass helped Moose to pull Rowan further away from the bank and the residing water, surprised to see the form of a small pup stop and give an excited yip, it would appear Quinn had been saved too and was relieved to see his father would be alright, the pups tired legs seemed to find energy as they took advantage of Rowan's position from which Moose was dragging him, climbing up onto him and laying his legs out infront of and behind him, using his father like a raft of sorts as he was too tired to walk himself. The sight brought a smile to Moose's face momentarily as he admired the father son moment, then he began wondering where his mate could be, if they would ever get to experience such moments, or if their love was destined to be ended by a flash flood, he hoped to find her, his heart ached at the thought of not finding her.
